TIME TO CONSIDER AND
REFLECT
Curiosity is fuel. It drives us to
try to figure things out and,
ultimately, to learn. But that fuel
doesn’t always need to burn hot,
which means excited questions
and bold experimentation alone
are the signs. Curiosity can re-
main active even when we’re
more passive, particularly in qui-
eter moments when we can go
over what we’ve uncovered and
consider what it all means. We
need to make sure that we give
our students time for this level of
reflection. Not only does this
kind of reflection aid in learning,
but it can also teach students to
make curiosity a constantly pre-
sent part of their lives. Not every
question that the students ask
will be one we expect. But all
questions demonstrate a curious
mind, so we should not dismiss
questions that don’t fit with our
lesson. Instead, let us leave un-
structured time in class to ad-
dress those unexpected ques-
tions, or establish a system
whereby unexpected questions
can be “stored” for later.
E
ncouraging students to develop
the art of curiosity is an impor-
tant part of a holistic educa-
tion. Curiosity is key to learn-
ing. It is obvious that when we’re curi-
ous about a subject, we are much more
likely to remember the information we
learned about that subject. I would like
to recall the quote from the poem writ-
ten by Rudyard Kipling. I keep six hon-
est serving men. They taught me all I
knew. Their names are What and Why,
When and How, and Where and Who. I
send them over land and sea; I send
them east and west. But after they
have worked for me, I give them all a
rest. The message on the importance
of curiosity is clear, but so is the
realization that, with adulthood,
we are forced to limit this to
only a few parts of our lives.
But children are not limited
as adults in their thoughts.
Their imagination is so pow-
erful that it can travel to any
extent and explore.

ENCOURAGE THE STUDENTS
TO RAISE QUESTIONS
We, as teachers, should know that
curiosity most often begins with
“why?” If we want to fire up our stu-
dents’ curiosity, we need to encourage
them to ask—and try to answer—ques-
tions. That means we should avoid giv-
ing dry lectures. Instead, try designing
our classes so that we encourage stu-
dents to raise questions, either implic-
itly or explicitly. An effective class is
just 15 minutes of lecture, and the re-
maining 25 minutes are interaction and
assessment.
BEING ENTHUSIASTIC
Being enthusiastic as a teacher can
set an effective tone for their class-
room. Think of yourself as an explorer
leading an expedition. You may have
traveled the path before, but you’re ex-
cited to show others what you’ve found
and eager to hear their take on things.
The more you demonstrate your enthu-
siasm for discovery, the more likely it
is that your students will be curious
about what you’re teaching.

kissed the festivities awake. The air
was infused with the sweet scent of

sparkled with vibrant rangoli pat-

spirit of the festival. From the
rhythmic beats of the dhol to the
graceful swirls of the diya dance,
every moment resonated with joy.
The morning was a symphony of
laughter, camaraderie, and the soft

to have increased among youth in recent
years, Yuvabharathi Public School held a
rally recently to create awareness among the
public and sensitize them about the ill effects of
using drugs. Raising slogans against the use of
drugs and other substances, about 135 class X
students took part in the demonstration. A riv-
eting Veedhi naadagam (street play) was staged
by a troupe of class IX students depicting the ill
effects of drug abuse at the Kanuvai bus junc-
tion, where about 750 people had gathered to
board the buses. The students distributed pam-
phlets to the public to emphasize the ill effects
of drugs on physical health, mental health, and
the economic impact of drug abuse.

T
he World Cup finals, the much awaited
one with immense hope and expecta-
tions ended up in a bad note. The
spectators all silent in the arena as the
overs proceeded. The toss won by the
opposition and Indians put to bat. There
itself the sign was not good because chas-
ing a total is comfortable rather than set-
ting up a total to defend. The day wasn’t
ours at all. The star batters getting out one
by one and the morale of the
team went zero. The tam
India struggled hard to reach
240. The fielding of the
Aussies was far too the best.
Not leaving any scope for
mistake. The entire win
for the team India
rested on the bowlers. They did their best.
The day wasn’t good for the wicket keeper
KL Rahul either. Many miss fielding and the
runs poured in. The early 3 wickets gave a
little hope and showed us the ray of win-
ning. But then the Australian batters were
excellent. They literally showered the rain
of runs from all the sides and angles. The
match was out of our hands. Nothing could
be done. Just to play and fin-
ish. It feels bad as through-
out the tournament not a
single match was lost by
the Indians . They are the
bests of the team no
doubt about it. The bat-
ting and then the fielding
didn’t fall in the line and
length. But then
it’s a game any-
thing can happen. The best team won but
then we Indians are not less than that. The
only team to have won all the league
matches, and that’s commendable. Hats off
to Team India. Looking forward to the T20
series in South Africa. That’s a great chal-
lenge , to beat the host team in their home
ground ,in front of the home crowd. The
pitch new to us ,the weather conditions and
the crowd, all in one basket a big challenge.
But then it’s Team India
and we work wonders.

very child has their own rights to act. Child labour has been
the most important concern in the world because it affects the
children both mentally and physically. It also destroys the
future of children. Children aged to 5 to 17 are engaged in child
labour. Forcing children to take part in often dangerous and
strenuous work and preventing them from attending
school. Child labour is a major barrier to education,
affecting attendance and performance in school.
There are many children who are interested to go
to school, but they are not allowed. Every child
need to go to school that’s very essential.
Because the childhood is the best stage to learn
many new things. Children are the future socie-
ty, if the society need to be good all the chil-
dren should be educated. Child labour is a
crime. Stop child labour. If you come across
any child forced or engaged in child labor,
report to your police station or call CHILDLINE
helpline on 1093.

H
ealth is the boon to your body as
well as to your mind. It increases
both physical & mental strength.
We can maintain a good health by having
a balanced diet and with some physical
exercises. I realised this when I was 12
years old and started my journey of fit-
ness. Though it has many bright and dark
sides, at beginning I started my fitness
training as an athlete. Initially I lost
in several competitions which made
me to feel inferior and down, but
one thing I always had in my
mind was” FAIL TILL
YOUR SUCCESS “.
But my faith and
belief didn’t come
True. Unfortunate-
ly, on 5th Septem-
ber 2020 I met with a
major bike accident.
Even though this inci-
dent put me down, I was
holding some hope that I can again
bounce back and achieve what I dreamt
before. After 7 months of bed rest and
long battle with my life, again I came into
the track, but it was harder than I thought.
So, I decided to change my body and mind
to become a brave athlete. Then I realised
my area of strength in power lifting and
gave a try in local competition. When I
went there, I was literally scared and got
nervous because am the only person in
the age category of 16 years. All other
participants were 20 to 25 years old. In my
first step itself I lost my hope but at the
end something unexpected happened. I
was the youngest participant to be
awarded with 3rd prize by lifting
“160kg” among the people of huge
age difference. Then I started to
work hard & after 2 months I
participated in Tamil Nadu
level power lifting Competi-
tion under sub junior cate-
gory. As the name is sub
junior, I thought that
other participants
will be in my age
category but the
reality was qui-
et opposite. Be-
cause in Sub
junior category
the age limit
was till 23 years.
Again, it was a
replica of what hap-
pened before. But this
time the climax was entirely
different. I secured 7th place all
over Tamil Nadu by lighting “175
KG” and I was proudly honoured
with shield and medal. I was much
happy and delighted because I was the
only guy at the age of 16 among 70 - 80
participants who were at the age group
of 20 to 23. It gave me the hope to
come up once again. Last but not
least, “ Fail until you succeed “.
