ELGI SCHOOL BEAMING WITH PRIDE AS
STUDENTS ACHIEVE OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
S
o, it is January, the first
month of 2024 which means
new start, new hope, new
plans, new opportunities and
much more for everyone right!
Since it is January Let’s talk about
Pongal! The first big festival of the
year! So, what is Pongal? People
come up with different answers.
A flavourful delicious dish an-
swers a foodie, A big, long holiday
answered by a working profession-
al,Goldenperiodof salesanswered
by a businessperson, new clothes
and celebrations answers a kid.
What is Pongal again!? Ask a farm-
er, the answer will be purely emo-
tional.Theirfacialgesturesanswer
before their word does! Pongal is
the festival of farmers which is ob-
servedinthemonthof Thaiaccord-
ing to the tamil solar calendar
whichisafour-dayfestivalcelebrat-
edto thank theSunGodforhelping
farmers in getting better yielding
crops.
The farmers express their
gratitude to nature, their cattle
and their God for a bountiful har-
vest. They happily cel-
ebrate Pongal by pray-
ing, preparing pongal,
decorating their home
and cattle, giving gifts
etc. What a great day
for the farmers right!
Now what is on the
other side of a farm-
er’s life. Do you think being a
farmer is easy? Are they treated
properly? Are they paid fairly?
Are they happy for the service
they do? A bunch of questions
pops up right! But no, their life is
not easy, nor are they paid fairly
.
But yes, they are happy for the
service they do despite their finan-
cial difficulties and mental strug-
gles they face in their day-to-day
life. There are various factors like
productivity
, influence of the mid-
dlemen, infrastructure, unpredict-
able weather conditions and more
which contribute to the low in-
come of farmers which is a basic
need.
The struggles they face are
endless. A lot of farmers lost their
life, livelihood, land, family, re-
spect and quit farming and
started working in other jobs
for their basic financial need
which is a tragedy. In my
view. I would just say that
farmers are the real angels sent
by God who dedicates their entire
life just to feed the entire world.
Farmers should be treated prop-
erly and paid fairly for the service
they render for the world.
This will be possible only
when you! The young minds who
are the leaders of the next gen-
erations think and act accord-
ingly to save
farming to
save farm-
ers and to
save the
nation.

SAFEGUARDING TOMORROW
THROUGH ‘RIDDLES SONG ‘
S
ri Gopal Naidu Children’s School features a spectrum of
activities to educate and convey messages about responsible
road behaviour. The result of activities done not only fos-
tered a sense of camaraderie among the kids but also they all
served as a powerful medium in promoting Road Safety Rules.
As a part of the weekly activities, special assembly was con-
ducted on Tuesday
. Class V Kutty Cops students prepared a few
riddles with the help of their teachers, insisting us to wear seat
belts, helmets, walk on foot path etc., and presented with the cine
tune which made the audience enthusiastically participate in
answering the riddles. The correct answers were encouraged
with claps. The way they presented was appreciable, interesting
and informative. The students were also taught that ‘If everybody
is safe on the roads then roads will be safe for everybody’. The
principal and the teachers appreciated for their effort taken and
the riddle charts prepared by them were displayed for the par-
ents’ awareness in the school notice board.
