2. ABOUT 4MUSIC
4Music is a music and entertainment channel in the United Kingdom and available on some digital
television providers in the Republic of Ireland. The channel launched on 15 August 2008,
replacing The Hits. It is the only Channel 4-branded channel within The Box Plus Network. It is
available on Freeview, Virgin Media, Sky and Small world Cable. On 2 April 2013, all Box Television
channels went free-to-air on satellite, apart from 4Music which went free-to-view.
4Music launched on 15 August 2008. The channel launched with an on-screen countdown counting
down from ten minutes down to zero. During the countdown, clips from popular music videos were
faded through the screen including clips from promotions for the channel.
V Festival & T4 on the Beach
4Music has coverage at both festivals during the Summer, with highlights repeated frequently
throughout the Summer. The channel also has stages at both events.

4. ABOUT VIVA
Viva is a music television channel in the United Kingdom and Ireland, owned by Viacom
International Media Networks Europe. The channel launched on 26 October 2009. The channel was
officially launched on 26 October 2009 by Alexandra Burke, with an exclusive live performance of
her single "Bad Boys“.
Viva dropped its free to view encryption on satellite on 19 March 2013, before launching on the
free to air platform, Free sat, on 2 April 2013.
Viva is now on Freeview channel 58, and is only available to viewers who have devices which are
compatible with Freeview HD, Freeview Play, YouView or EE TV in certain areas of the UK. It will be
broadcasting from 09:00 until 11:00.
