MTV is a music television channel founded in 1981 that initially aired music videos but now focuses on reality, comedy, and drama programming. Chart Show TV is a British music television channel owned by Sony Pictures that airs various music charts and was launched in 2002. Starz TV, also owned by Sony Pictures, is a digital satellite TV channel launched in 2005 that broadcasts a wide variety of popular music videos and engages viewers through interactive texting.
2. MTV is a music television channel which was
founded in 1981. Its initial purpose was to display
and provide a channel which viewed artists music
videos which they had produced. MTV is owned by
Viacom Media Networks, and launched in the US.
They maintained their role to portray music videos
on their channel until 2009, where their targets
began to evolve and be manipulated. Their
audience now is mainly teenagers and young
adults, with programmes now being shown of
mainly reality, comedy and drama.
MTV now have a specific channel for their music
videos, and their original channel is now for their
more reality comedy approach, which shows
programmes such as Keeping Up With The
Kardashians and How I Met Your Mother.
3. Chart Show TV is a British music television
channel owned by Sony Pictures who took it
over as it was previously owned by Channel 4
and ITV. It was launched in 2002, and consists
of many different charts such as indie, urban,
rock ect.
It is a 24 hour programme, which can be
entertainment for any audience, and is
broadcast on Sky, which is accessible across the
world.
It has many sister channels such as Chart Show
Dance, Flava, Kix, Scuzz, Tiny Pop and Starz TV.
The demand for music video channels in
decreasing however there is still such a large
amount of them being broadcast.
4. Starz TV which was formally known as Fizz TV is
a digital satellite TV channel, also owned by
Sony Pictures. It was launched in 2005, and
broadcasts a large variety of music videos for
the public. The output of the station was to
show and view music videos of a range of
genres that are currently popular in the charts.
The channel is also extraordinarily interactive, as
it gives viewers the opportunity to text into the
channel which maintains audience viewing. It
means that a viewer can text in a request, and in
order for them to hear their request played they
will have to continue listening to the channel.
This is a prime way to keep their viewer count
high, and maintain a channel to broadcast from.
5. The Vault was founded in 2003, and is a
British Music channel again owned by Sony
Pictures. It is a 24 hour channel again,
which means it broadcast for any audience
across the world.
In 2010, the channel had a huge rebrand,
where all the logos changed, and came
over a new look, which brought a fresh set
of audience viewers.
This channel displays a huge range of
different music genres, for example 80s
ballads, Back to... Best of the 1980s, Best of
the 1990s, Feel Good Anthems, Infinite
Classics, Motown Classics, Original Vs
Cover, Saturday Nite Party, Rise and Shine,
Weekend Wake Up and many more.
6. Kerrang TV is such a huge digital music
channel owned by Baeur Media Group, and
closely connected to the magazine Kerrang!
It was launched in 2001, and extraordinarily
popular at immediate demand.
It plays a specific genre of music however a
vast variety of it. It is very heavy, metal and
punk music, which suits certain peoples
preference and styles to others.
A lot of metal is played however death metal
and black metal is least played, to ensure
that there are no negative effects taken from
this channel, which some people may take.
