Viva is directed mostly at a mainstream audience.

by just 40 people, as a result many previous employees were made
redundant.
When Viva was launched in the UK and Ireland, it replaced TMF and has a
completely different logo to the other countries.
This is the logo used in all
of the other countries.

August, 1981.
MTV is mainly targeted at 18 to 24-year-olds. This is mainly due to not only
MTV providing music but also providing TV shows, which cause this age
range to tune into MTV more.
The original purpose of MTV was to play music videos 24/7, these were
guided by on-air personalities called VJs, or video jockeys.
MTV greatly reduced its overall rotation of music videos by mid 2000s, 2008
saw an average of just three hours per day of music videos being played.
The channel began to air music videos only in the early morning hours or in a
condensed form on Total Request Live
