2. Intro + Hook
The intro is the name of the song
and is followed up by the hook
where he repeats that he doesn’t
want to die too young. He also says
I’ve been grinding way too long.
This means that he has worked too
hard to reach his position and
would not like to die anytime soon
as he is in a very good place.
3. Verse 1
In this verse, Post continues to boast
about his success. “Came up, don’t know,
I just keep going with the flow”, this
shows that he isn’t aware of how he got
so big however he isn’t complaining and
continues to do the same thing. He
continues to brag about how much
money he makes, “hold that guap like a
register”, “Like I’m cash out”, “running
and grab the dough”, “This shit never
minimal”. This fits the codes and
conventions of the RnB/Hip-Hop genre
as he boasts about money.
4. Verse 2
His lyrics continue to conform to the
typical codes and conventions of the
RnB/Hip-Hop genre as he brags “My whip
fast, my bitch bad”, “bitches they watching
me go”, “Pull up in a Porsche”. This
represents his personality and shows that
he devalues women and only cares about
himself and his riches. He then progresses
to the Hook for the last time.
5. Conclusion
What I have gathered from his lyrics is
that he is enjoying his current lifestyle
and does not want it end. He is currently
21 years of age and is young and
reckless, his music journey is still in early
stages so he wants it to continue. In this
song particularly, there is no narrative or
deep meaning, he brags about his
success and fame and fits the
conventions of the genre.
