2. Austin Richard Post or more commonly known as Post Malone, is an American
rapper, singer and guitarist from Texas. He was born in July, 1995. He began
producing at the age of 16 and created his first mixtape. He moved out to Los
Angeles after college and ended up creating his biggest song to date, 'White
Iverson'. The song blew up and now has over 200 million views on the music video.
He then released a few other singles, 'Too Young' (the song we chose for our music
video), 'Whats Up' and 'Tear$'. These songs also gained him popularity and caught
the attention of record labels. One month after releasing the video for 'White
Iverson', in August 2015, he signed for Republic Records. This has allowed him to
work with big name artists such as Jeremih, 50 Cent, Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
In May 2016, Post released his debut mixtape 'August 26th' (name refers to the
date he aimed to release his debut album) which featured big artists like Jeremih
and 2 Chainz.
The genre of this album was R&B and country, which is a mix of genres not
commonly seen together however Post got a lot of popularity because of this
unique mix. This allows his audience to get a taste of two different styles of music
and listen to types of music they may not have considered beforehand. Post
promoted himself through many social media platforms, such as Soundcloud. He
has over 400,000 followers and is where he initially released 'White Iverson' and all
of his singles that followed. He has over 250,000 Twitter followers currently and
often interacts with his fans. He is currently on tour which is another way he
promotes himself and his music.
