KEYWORDS Disaster - a sudden, calamitous event that seriously disrupts the functioning of a community or society and causes human, material, and economic or environmental losses that exceed the community’s or society’s ability to cope using its own resources. Deploy – To travel outside of your country or province to help with a disaster response. Injury Prevention - Knowledge and awareness of how injuries happen so that people can make choices that may decrease the risk of being hurt at home or work or school. Assistance - the provision of money, resources, or information to help someone in need. Leadership – the ability to motivate others towards a common goal.

  • 8. HOW WE WORK Volunteer Teams Teams supported by Red Cross staff. Capable to provide support to clients at all times. Capacity Building Skills through training, practice sessions, and workshops provided to volunteers. Volunteers trained to respond to small and large scale disasters. Based on Individual Needs Needs assessment performed by disaster team members. Services provided based on needs not wants or loss.
