2. Editing Music Video + Digipak and Poster

3. Sony Vegas
The Sony Vegas program which is a video editing software was heavily used for
the construction process. I used a more sophisticated program for editing known
as Sony Vegas in which I borrowed a friends account since the service is account
based. Using this software I was able to use more techniques within my video
such as the lens flare as well as the scene in which the same actor appears on
screen within the same shot. If I continued to use the free software, imovie, I
would not be able to create this affects and make my ideas into a real production.
For example the flare was only possible because I was no longer limited to imovie.

4. Photoshop
The Photoshop program which is a photo editing software was used for both
constructions of the Digi-Pak and Magazine Poster. This software allowed me to
use more techniques to create different effects for both tasks such as the border
theme that I used was created with many different layers. Importantly it allowed
me to create small effects and detail changes which would improve both the
poster and digi-pak. For example allowing me to blend different photos together
allowing it to look like a single photo.

5. Snapseed
I used this for the back photo of the Magazine Poster to add a grunge effect to
change the photos look. Included with the effect I was able to create a focus point
for the picture as well as the amount of black edging I wanted as you can see
below. Snapseed was a great app to use with many pre effects loaded of you can
. go further into depth and change every little detail such as the
. focus post or the strength of black and how much. Importantly
. this allowed for my poster to look much more professional. For
a example the photo that I am looking into a cell
a block with the effects achievable.

7. Prezi
Prezi is a presentation software company which can add animations to make a
presentation more appealing to the audience with many different effects in which
you can use and select the same principle follows with the layout of the actual
presentation.
For my work with the planning and research I was able to deconstruct varuis
sections such as the different areas on a poster or the different pages within the
digipak. This was the first time I was able to use prezi in great detail and learn new
sections such as the ability to use your own
layout which is what I used for one of the
evaluation Questions. Such as the poster for
Green day wake me up when september ends.

8. Notebook
With most of my initial planning and Ideas I used a simple notebook to make any
quick notes or ideas that would come to mind Importantly this allowed me to make
quick notes and begin the planning for my music video, poster and digi-pak. I
believe new technology is not always the best way to create ideas but I feel I can
easily create a picture which will then be able to start using newer technologies
like prezi to add a more visual aspect. For example the beginning of my drafts I
created looking at different ideas and layouts.

9. Sony Vegas
It’s not just within the production I used Sony Vegas but for my editing and filming
evidence. I also used it for Evaluation Question 3 to allow the voice over and add
the evidence for my points such as how I used re-filming to get better focus.
This was simple editing techniques that I used such as various cuts within the
video and trimming clips to be shorter if they needed to be. Importantly I could of
used imovie however to continue to improve my technique will help within futre
editing since the basics are used the most often.

10. Camera Equipment
I used a Nikon D3100, this allowed me to both film in 1080p HD and take photos
of the same quality. However for the performance shots I used a Prime Lens
allowing me to let the camera have more light resulting in crisper brighter shots.
This then allowed me to get the best possible looking shots that I can get.
Importantly I also used a tripod to allow for still steady shots showing more
professionalism. As well as the lights to set the light making it very bright and
creating very good quality film since the lights in the room are not bright enough to
create a good shot. For example the performance shots are very bright and high
quality within my music video.

11. Online Research
I used sites like youtube to allow me to watch other
music videos of this genre such as ‘Stay The Night’ by
Green Day. This help with my research by allowing me
to see the conventions of other videos and the types of
shots giving me bassline for my music video on the
song ‘Walk Away’. Since Youtube is known for nearly
all artists posting there music video here and getting
millions of views.
