8. Video Camera The camera used was a mini DV camera to capture our footage. After recording our footage we logged all our shots, this allowed us to decide between different shots to choose only the best. After logging our shots we then used a fire wire to transfer our shots onto the PC to perform the editing stages.
9. Skills Development Over the two years of working on production in Media, I have been able to make our work look more professional with the skills that I have developed over the course of my two years. The development in my skills have enabled me to make my piece far more professional in which case would keep the audience’s interaction with my work far more easier. I have also learnt how to use a Tripod to a satisfactory level I have also learnt how to frame shots a lot better to the industry standards and also developed my skills with a pan shot by coming to terms with having a tripod to help me instead of trying to pan handheld.
10. Adobe Premier This is the video editing programme our group used to put all our chosen logged shots onto, to edit together our music video. This programme allowed us to adapt our lighting, style and speed of our chosen shots. This subsequently allowed us to make the music video we wanted to create.
11. Skills Development I used Adobe Premier for both my AS and A2 years within my media production. I can now confidently say I can use the programme to create a professional looking piece to a high standard in which I can feel proud of. I can use tools provided to create effects on our video for example – fade to black. We have used this effect a lot as its very symbolic to our video in order of showing our audience a change in setting. Another effect we used were jump cuts and cross cutting as we felt this was essential to our video in creating the dream like effect.
12. YouTube YouTube was a vital area within our production process because it enabled us to research other music videos to influence our own ideas on how we want the final outcome of our video to look like.
13. What have I learnt? I learnt how beneficial and useful YouTube is when it comes to researching. It has allowed me to research other videos similar to our own. The advantage of this is that we can find ways to improve the look and feel of our piece in order to make it better and far more watchable and appealing to our audience. In conclusion this has helped us develop our finished piece to a high standard.
14. Digital SLR To capture the images for my Ancillary task, I used a Cannon Digital SLR Camera. I used the manual setting, to create a bright image. It enabled me to have more control over what I was shooting.
15. Skills Development After using the Cannon Digital Camera I now feel a lot more confident to other gadgets other than my own devices. I can also use the camera in manual mode to create shots that are not blurred.
16. Photoshop The photos in which I had taken, I followed on to use Photoshop C7. This is a program which allows me to create the effects I want in order to make the image to my own taste and satisfaction. For all of my photos I began with the brightening device which then increases the contrast to produce a more bold effective image. Another tool I used for my images was the hue and saturation bar, this gave my pictures the fun filled effect I wanted as it relates with our fun filled song/video. This went really well with the theme of our piece and I felt it complimented our niche audience.
17. Skills Development Through the process of my ancillary tasks, I have overcome hurdles in Photoshop and now I can use the programme to a professional level. I can change and adapt images and photos individually and I can also merge two images together. I’ve also been able to remove my face from one image to add it to another. Photoshop offers a whole range of different tools and effects to ultimately offer you the best outcome someone like me would want for their ancillary tasks. I enjoyed using Photoshop and all the tools provided. My CD cover and poster look far more professional and acceptable for my target audience and the industry standards.
18. Conclusion Throughout my whole experience of AS and A2 media I have used a variety of mediums to enhance my skills and my final product. These skills have enabled me to produce a significant product to a very high industry standard. All in all, I have extremely enjoyed learning about all the programs and gaining new skills from them. These skills will help me in the future to which I will carry on editing images and gathering shots together to make a successful finished piece.
