1. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? Evaluation – Question 4
2. Movie Editing Software To create my music video I have used a piece of editing software called iMovie. This software is available on apple Macs. This software is very professional and has allowed me to create a creative music video. The software allows me to edit and cut the footage I shot. I used iMovie as the software is very accurate, I used precision editing to create lip syncing in my video, this is a common convention. iMovie also allowed me to use the green screen effect. Using this I overlaid two clips of footage. This helped emphasised an action that matched lyrics to visuals. I would have really liked to merge shots as well as overlay them however with the software I used, this was difficult.
3. Desktop publishing software I have used Serif Page plus, a desktop publishing software, to create my ancillary tasks. I created both the digipak and the magazine advert using this software. The software lets me creatively create two ancillary tasks easily with several effects. It let me arrange text and images using layers. I was able to create shapes that correlate with my theme by cropping images; such as the wave effect. I have used colourisation on images to emphasise my house colours. The programme also provided typography the fitted with the theme too. I have used a photo as the main back ground, then using the transparency effect I have overlaid a house colour. This house colour makes my font stand out more clearly.
4. Camera I have used a Sony digital camera to shoot my video footage. This camera is not as professional as the music industry would use and they would also use several. However this is what I had available to me. The camera worked well and allowed me to film all my footage correctly. There is no editing effects on the camera, therefore I did it all using iMovie. I created different shots my self by placing the camera in different angles and positions; such as placing it on the floor and having the actors walk over it. I shot as much footage as I could, and actually filmed much more than I needed. I shot the clips with several takes making sure I had professional material when it came to editing.
5. Still cameras I have used my own Nikon still camera. I used this to capture images for my ancillary tasks. I took images at my locations on the days of filming. I took photos that were inspired by the theme of the video, such as my shots of the ocean. I also took images of my artist to create his profile on the ancillary tasks.
6. Weblog (blogger.com) I have used Blogger.com to present my portfolio. The blog documents my planning and creation of both the music video and the ancillary tasks. It explains the decisions and changes I made. The blog allows me to present every stage all together. It flows well from research to planning through to construction. It allows me also to present my final products at the end of my portfolio. It allows viewers to follow me step by step and understand my decisions.
7. Software used within your blog I have used several pieces of software within my blog to present my work creatively. I used Slideshare. This software presents power points. This was a good way of presenting documents such as story boards. I have used Scribd. This allows me to post word documents on to my blog. Word allows me to present my work more creatively and clearly than just a block of text that blogger provides. I have used Kizoa. Kizoa creates a slide show of images and this can be imbedded on to a post. This is helpful when you have several images to post that link together. It presents them together rather than one after the other. I have used YouTube to embed music videos. This make my blog more interesting and dynamic. It allows me to present my research into existing projects and embed my own creation. I have also embedded the music track I used for my music video using 4shared. An application that allows you to embed mp3 tracks.
