Education and Welfare
Education is the key staple to furthering the life standard for all humans. So why is it that the
collectors of welfare and public aid are statistically the ones with the least amount of education?
Within this paper I plan to address this issue and those that contribute to education, or lack there of,
for welfare recipients. I feel this issue has a great deal to do with race, gender and lack of equality in
all aspects of public policy.
Let us start at the beginning. Most women on welfare were raised in homes that collected welfare.

help. According to the National Institute for Literacy it could take
• 900 hours of education and training for minimally (similar to high school dropouts/NALS Level
1) skilled welfare women to move up to the basic level (similar to below average high school
graduates /NALS Level 2);
• 200 hours of education and training for basic skilled recipients to move up to the competent level
(similar to people with some postsecondary education/NALS Level 3); and
• 200 hours for competent skilled welfare women to move up to advanced skill level (similar to
people with a bachelor 's degree or more/NALS Level 4/5).
According to this information, if the States would put the money into training and educational
classes for literacy, specialized trade and post– secondary education it would greatly decrease
dependence. However many states choose not to implement such programs and choose only to get
welfare recipients into the workforce with minimal training prior. When states choose such options
it often leaves the recipient and their family in poverty. Also, with the new limits on availability of
public aid being reduced to 5 years, if the new job that they are forced to take does not work out,
they can not go back to welfare because time limits have run out.

To get into not only the top Chinese high school, but any well educated public school involves a lot
of competition and hard work. Sometimes the student does not have the "brain" to make it so they
have to go to an alternative talent: Music. If the student can show extraordinary talents in music,
then that is another way to be accepted into high quality high schools. Many young Americans
complain about their early mornings, 7 hour days and ACT/SAT tutoring, clueless to the young
Chinese students strenuous, competitive lives. The competition young Chinese students experience

Globalization continues to be present in and influence every aspect of our lives. We now we cannot

With the reauthorization of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) (P.L. 101–476) in
1990, a student with disabilities interests, preferences, strengths, and needs were to be considered
when in developing goals on their Individual Education Plan. The 1997 and 2004 amendments of
IDEA continued to meet and strengthen these requirements. To meet this federal mandate, teaching
and promoting self–determination and the core components of self–determination have become an
evidenced based, and best practices for educators in middle and high school, and helping students
with disabilities meet their post secondary goals and experience a more successful transition from
high school to post secondary domains. This review discusses the research that addresses how the

changing international perception about their international goals and their trustworthiness. More

So why is it that the collectors of welfare and public aid are statistically the ones with the least amount of education? Within this paper I plan to address this issue and those that contribute to education, or lack there of, for welfare recipients.
