8. What is the effect of the conventions?
Bold Masthead: The effect that the bold masthead is that it attracts people
to it, therefore informing people of what the magazine is about. As well
as the positioning of it being in the primary optical area which is the
effect because it is in the route of the eye. This is conventional to the type
of the genre because of the colours used, the dark red and black are very
manly colours which the genre Indie/Rock targets.

Coverlines are effective because they draw attention to the main issue
that the main body of text is about, this therefore means that it is effective
because it gives the reader and insight into what the article is going to be
about. The coverlines are conventional because of the type of colours that
are used because the colours connotes a very manly feel which is effective
for the Indie/Rock genre.

Pull quotes are effective to my genre because this give thought
provoking quotes that will spark thoughts by the reader to read the
main body of text. The quote is conventional to indie rock because of the
colloquial language used without swear words which is conventional to
my target audience.

The three columns are effective because they are easy to read and more
easily split up. The columns are conventional to an indie rock genre
because of the type of text used as well as the font that is used
throughout. This is effective because it is more stereotypical to the type of
genre that it targets therefore making it more conventional for the reader.

The subscription is effective because it is very conventional to
the type of genre that I am using because it allows the reader
to create a direct link between the magazine and the person.
