2. This is one of the contents pages that I will analyse. This
contents page is very different from the other content
pages because the background is white and it looks very
blank, in other words it does not have much detail to it. I
think that this is good because some people do not have
much time as they are busy and they wouldn’t want to
waste time looking at any other feature articles or
advertisements. The colour scheme used on this contents
page is black, red and white and we also see that the
model which is “50 cent” is also wearing black clothes
which go along with the colour of the text. This contents
page has an issue date but it is not precisely
demonstrated which could show the audience that this
magazine could be a monthly magazine or annually.
There is a masthead used at the top of the contents
page which says features which shows us what the
magazine has inside so the target audience are
attracted. The numbers are in the colour white which
juxtapose with the colour white. The colour red may
mean danger or love whereas the colour white
represents purity. The slight long/mid shot shows the
audience the facial expressions and the clothes that the
model is wearing which is part of mise- en- scene. 50 cent
is wearing black clothes which could signify an unknown
colour which could reflect back to the audience and
mean that he does not have a clue, he is also looking at
the camera which may mean that he wants the
audience to assume what mood he is in. The page
numbers are going up in order from small to big which I
think is a good technique used because it makes it more
organised for the audience to read. It only shows the
page numbers that have main articles on them.
3. This contents page has a lot of different things from the
one analysed before. It features the same artist “50
cent”. It has page numbers but they are only the main
ones and does not direct you to every page. The picture
of the two models is a two mid shot which shows what
they are wearing and there facial expressions. They are
wearing a lot of gold which could suggest the genre to
the audience and it could also show the wealth of the
artists which makes the audience think about the artist
being vain. The information given on the contents page
is quite basic and there is not much detail on the
contents page as a whole which makes it easy for the
audience to understand what is going on. It also has a
sub heading which says features. There is also a quote
which shows the audience how Soulja Boy feels which
makes the audience feel more interested. This magazine
also has a issue date which is important because it tells
the audience how old the information is inside the
magazine. The clothes they are wearing are simple
clothes which may mean that they don’t need any
brand to represent them and they are made up by
themselves and they don’t need any ones support
which also links back to how vain they may be. The
model at the back looks like if he wants to fight which
may be a stereo type for black people. The details of the

The numbers on the contents page are enlarged which
show that they are important . The characters also have
a lot of tattoos suggest the hip hop genre they are trying
to present to the audience.
4. This contents page colour scheme is orange, red and
white which go well together to represent the hip hop
genre. This contents page has a issue date right on top of
the page to make sure the audience know what they are
reading. This contents page is not a difficult contents page
to read but is easy and is quite basic which is beneficial for
the audience because they can jus get easily get
directed to where they want to go. He is looking at the
camera directly which shows that he wants to engage the
audience, He isn’t wearing any type of jewellery that
would represent the hip hop genre which mainly is the
thing that represents the genre. On the other hand he isn’t
wearing anything which may suggest that he isn’t that
type of stereotypical hip hop artist. The shot is a mid shot of
the artist which could also show the facial expressions of
the artist and by looking at the photo we can see that he
looks quite confused with the hand on his chin. The lighting
used on this is a low key chiaroscuro which shows that he
has two sides which may be one good and one bad. The
layout of this contents page is also quite simple and odes
not have much detail on it which may be because they
don’t want the audience to be confused about where to
be directed. They have made clear about which are the
page numbers by making them the colour black and bold
which is a contents page convention. The orange colour
used by the model may show that he wants to attract the
audiences attention because of the brightness of the
colour.
