Business/Materials Lesson Objectives
The theme of the Lesson: I am
happy to meet you.
Verb to be in the present tense:
Am, is, and are.
Personal pronouns: I, you, he, she
and it.
Students will receive a hand out,
labeled with:
Student A and Student B
The learners will understand how to use personal
presentation, using the verb to be in the present tense,
with the personal pronouns I, you, he, she, and it. Using
positive and negative statements.
The students will know how to ask and answer the
question about greeting the present tense, using positive
and negative statements with the pronouns I, you, he, she
and it.
Example: A: How are you?
B: I am fine
The students will know how to use the formal and
informal expression on greeting in the present tense with
being, with positive and negative statements.
Example: A: How is it going?
B: Not to bad
Warm-up and Objective Discussion
Orally, students will be asked to make oral affirmative or negative statements using the verb to
be in the simple present tense; after this, this student will request another student to do the same
thing, until all the students participate in the task.
Instruct and Model R W L S
Write on the board the line of the verb to be in the simple present tense with the personal
pronouns: I, you, he, she and it.
I am modeling examples with the verb to be with some positive and negative statements in the
simple present tense.
Guided Practice R W L S
Students work with their partners, students A and Students Be are going convert all of the
statements on their handout to questions with the verb to be.
Students should write the converted questions on a separate piece of paper to be used in the
Independent Practice activity below.

Basic Intermediate Advanced
2. In pairs of work, students complete the activity:
Students with the hand out labeled with the letter A will read the first question done in the
guided practice to the Students B.
Student B will answer the question with a positive or negative statement given in the handout.
Then, Student B is going to ask the first question done on the guided practice to the Student A

Call on one or two pairs to model one of their questions/answer exchanges.
Students should speak in complete sentences to show their mastery of ask and answer with to be
in the simple present tense, using positive or negative statements.
