1) Dear Regina,
I recently heard you were in the process of exploring to write an article in a peer reviewed journal in
psychology. Here are some steps I took to publish my article in peer–review journal:
Write a manuscript that differs from another psychology research articles
At least two or four volunteered researches will analyze your manuscript that will take almost to a
year to review to finalize all critiques of your manuscript
Editor of the journal will review all comments to determine if the manuscripts is need of no changes,
desperate changes, slight changes, or not published at all

Breaking Away Narrative
It is a dark, fall night. John's parents left for a vacation. John is all alone. He decides to call me for a
sleepover. My parents also aren't home. I have to ride my bike all the way to John's house. We have
been friends since Kindergarten. It takes me 15 minutes to get to his house. As soon as I arrive, we
went into the living room to play video games. We are enjoying our time playing video games. I told
Brody that I want to do something else. John took the house phone from the counter and started to
make prank calls to random numbers. After he calls Pizza Hut, we both got a good laugh at the
reaction. Now John is trying to get me to make some prank calls. It took me four or five tries but
eventually I found a number. I call the number. The phone keeps ringing. A man with a deep voice
picks up the phone. The man says, "Hello Brody." I backed away in shock! I asked John if he knew
what he meant. He replied, "No. I have no idea who that was or how he knew your name. I know

We thought it would be a good idea to get our minds off of what happened. John and I are watching
Outlast by our favorite YouTuber, Gash. It is a horror game based on an insane asylum. It has always
been our favorite game to watch together. After about 10 minutes, we are deeply into the storyline.
Out of nowhere, I hear a noise outside. It sounds like something in the bushes. I'm confused. "Hey
John, get over here!" We both decide to check out the noise that I heard outside the premises. I
bravely open the curtain. My heart is racing. My adrenaline is going crazy! I opened the curtain, and
there is a man standing right outside of the window. The man is looking into my eyes. He reminds
me of one of the characters from the Outlast game.I looked into the hideous face of the man. He
slowly starts walking to the front door. I turn around and tell John, "We need to get out of here! Go

The Pros And Cons Of Fast Food Restaurants
The three friends Steben, Derrick, and Gunther Blackwell all knew that they were in trouble. They
prank called all of the fast food restaurants in town. The three acquaintances called Arby's
McDonald's and every other fast food place they could think of. "Can I get uhhhhh boneless ice
cube with a side of salt and a two liter Coke." said Steben holding in all of the laughter.
"Sir, we do not serve boneless ice, but you can order from the Mc Pick 2 menu for only $5!"
explained Jeff, the McDonald's worker.
"No thank you, but my friend would like to have an order of Two chicken sandwiches and a fidget
spinner for the toy on the side." he chuckled.
"Sir, we also do not serve chicken sandwiches and we do not have fidget spinners!" he grumbled
with a deep sigh afterwards.
"Ok, I will have two number nines and a number nine large with a chilli dog on the side and a hog
rider toy at the end." said Steben with a red face just barely holding in all of his laughter.
"You know what, I quit this job!" ,he squealed, " I am also going to track this number down and get
the police on you immature and childish kids!"
Jeff could hear them all burst out laughing and he was outraged. He went ballistic after hearing them
all laugh. He felt as if he was in the African savannah with a Cackle of hyenas.
The three friends quickly hung up the phone letting out all of the laughter they had built up from the
prank call. Steben could not believe what they had just done. He was dying of laughter

Persuasive Speech On Pranks
Pranks are made to illicit laughter and fun. However, in doing some pranks, you should ensure that
you have the right person as the victim (no health conditions such as heart problems, and not
someone who is hot–tempered), right time (timing is very important in any pranks because it makes
it more real and believable), and right prank tactic (the prank that you will do should be in
connection to the person you are pranking with so that it will be more realistic and a note–worthy
experience).
There are many pranks that you can do, and one usual prank that is easy to pull off is a prank call.
However, you need the best prank call ideas in order to ace it right. Here are top 20 funny prank call

Finding Humanity in Technology Computer science essentially creates the future for the next
generation through technological advancements and software applications that can mold the nature
of multiple interactions ranging from personal calls to professional meetings to individual
entertainments. The insight that comes through the humanities is vital in understanding the cultural
implications that come with a sense of place and individuality. Because of the close connection
software applications have with daily lives of consumers, the influences individuals face impact the
way they receive software products. While analyzing the theme of community through Inside Mecca
in correspondence with evaluating the danger of having a single story through Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie's testimony, the importance of the field of humanities to computer scientists and software
developers can be better understood. Through the global interactions and the unity found in the
presence of great diversity in both the Haij (Inside Mecca) as well as through the teamwork of
software engineers, the influence the humanities, using the theme of community and society, is
striking. Through the testimony of a man going on the Haij, "the most important thing to gain is
brotherhood and sisterhood,... [regardless if you are a] millionaire or what,"(Inside Mecca 8:31).
Because of the increasing spread of Islam across the world, over eighty percent of those

Windy City Heat : The Negative Aspects Of Windy City Heat
These days it seems like you can't escape the all–seeing eye of PC culture. Every poorly worded
joke or inconsiderate prank about race can lead to a person's whole life being destroyed by woke
twitter. Yet, a small made for TV movie known as Windy City Heat has managed to walk on by,
unscathed by the wrath of PC culture. By stereotyping almost every minority group, Windy City
Heat is arguably one of the most offensive films ever made, yet I found it amusing, hilarious, and a
little enlightening. Ultimately, I believe that Windy City Heat uses extremes of stereotypes to vitiate
the negative aspects of these stereotypes, and in doing so, acts as a morally acceptable pranks that
aims to teach members of the film and the audience to be more welcoming. Windy City Heat is a
faux–reality film that follows Perry Caravello and his group of rag tag friends as they try to make it
big in Hollywood. This films primary focus is on Perry, a failed stand–up and actor, who looks to
make his big break when he gets cast as the star of the big Hollywood production of Windy City
Heat. Little does he know, this is actually a decades long prank that is being played up by his two
show business friends, Don Barris and Mole. As the audience follows Perry around the set of this
film, Perry become intertwined into more and more morally questionable situations in which he
usually fails to the do the right thing. All the scenes involving Perry usually revolve around crude
stereotypes regarding

X-Rays: From Discovery to Practical Application Essay
X–rays
This is a scientific report on x–rays, it's history, uses, implications and other relevant facts. More
relevance will be given to its medical uses/ importance as it was the most beneficial trait that x–rays
brought.
X–rays were discovered in 1895 when Wilhelm Conrad Röentgen was doing some experiments with
electron beams in a gas discharge tube and observed a glow in one of his fluorescent screens
whenever the electron beam was on.
It was a fact that fluorescent material usually glowed in reaction to magnetic radiation but the gas
discharge tube was surrounded by heavy black cardboard which was assumed by Roentgen to block
most of the radiation. Confused and curious, Roentgen then put several objects between the tube and

The denser areas are shown as white while the soft areas appear dark in the film but sometimes
some organs may block x–rays from showing broken or cracked bones and for this reason CAT
(Computer Axial Tomography) was invented. Firstly, the person requiring the scan is put inside of a
scanner, which is a long tube–shaped machine and then x–rayed from all angles, after a computer
puts all of the images together so that doctors can analyse them. CAT are mainly used for head and
brain injuries and appropriate shielded should be provided to cover the areas not being x–rayed.
At the dentist the same principle applies, x–ray film is put in one side of the teeth and x–rays are
shot through the jaw, metal is more absorbent than teeth and bones so any filling on the teeth would
appear lighter in the x–ray film. Fig. 2
Exposure limits exist to prevent exposure and limit chronic exposure to "acceptable" levels because
in fact there is no safe level of exposure as there is always a small probability of exposure being the
cause of some ailments, like cancer. It is then recommended to keep levels of exposure "as low as
reasonable achievable" (ALARA).
A person can safely get up to 300 simple x–rays a year or 5 CAT (Computed Axial Tomography)
scans and the risk of developing cancer would only increase by 1% as in most cases the cells that get
damaged due to radiation die prematurely. The amount of cell damage from an x–ray is many times
less than

Responses to the Challenge of Amoralism
ABSTRACT: To the question "Why should I be moral?" there is a simple answer (SA) that some

Or perhaps it is (d) a request for a motive to be moral.
(2) If Alf's question is of type (a) or (c), it's silly. Nothing could be more obvious than that Alf has a
moral reason to be moral. It's a plain fact that being moral is the moral thing to do – it's the option
justified from the moral point of view – and this is clearly a reason for Alf to be moral.
(3) If Alf's question is of type (b) or (d) it's unreasonable; hence we need not bother with it. Moral
philosophy aims at rational persuasion, not at generating motives to act. Nor does it aim to justify
morality in terms of prudence, law, custom, or etiquette. Indeed, such a justification is impossible.
But we should not be disturbed about this. The moral life is not called into question by showing that
it does not reduce to a concern for custom, prudence, etc., any more than prudence is called into

(4) Thus, Alf's question is silly or unreasonable. We need not bother with it.

Hansells Case study
In most companies, one of the primary goals is to produce world class and quality products. It is also
the reason why these institutions invest large portion of the budget in technology, employee
training/enhancement and modernising its facilities. Furthermore, the most essential resource of
every company is its manpower. It is the process in which the raw materials are being converted into
merchandise. This where human resources intercede to facilitate human resource activities to
improve the work, maintain standards and to align to the vision and mission of the company.
Hansells case study is a perfect example of enriching and empowering employees to gain better
outcome in terms of productivity and efficiency. In the case study, it was clearly defined how the
human resource personnel designed the employee development plan.

The Three Little Pigs By Joseph Jacobs
"The Three Little Pigs" is a classic fairytale about three pigs who build each their own house, and
the wolf who tries to devour the pigs by blowing down their house. "The Three Little Pigs" has it
origins from James Orchard Halliwell in Popular Rhymes and Nursery Tales (1849) in England.
Halliwell's rendition was the first known print version in the world. Joseph Jacobs' wrote the world's
most popular rendition in his English Fairy Tales (1898). In the 1880, Joel Chandler Harris made
"The Three Little Pigs" popular in the United States in Tales of Uncle Remus (1880). Walt Disney
had a large influence on "The Three Little Pigs" in 1933, when Disney made a short film of The

blows down his house with little resistance saying, "I 'll huff and I 'll puff and I 'll blow your house

the Wolf pretends to admit defeat and go home, but he returns later disguised an innocent, baby

Workplace Health and Safety
Shortcomings with regards to the workplace are a result of poor supervision and the need for
employees to be made more aware of the consequences of their actions by managers, supervisors
and their peers alike. Removal of objects causing obstructions or increasing risk of slips, trips and
falls is mostly a supervisory responsibility. These included unsuitable rugs, PPE storage and used
pallets (5, 16, 24 & 27). There were instances where simple, inexpensive alterations and
consultation by management with staff and supervisors would reduce risks throughout all facilities.
Signs legible by all staff (6.) and shared facilities (7) are cases in point. The use of available manual
handling was not evidently enforced as a matter of routine (10)

The calculation of FCF can be done according to the formula shown by Figure 1 (based on
[Copeland, Murrin and Koller, 2000], [Fernandez, 2002] and [Agar, 2005]). Initially, we need to
determine Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT), which represents hypothetical earnings before
tax which ignores the effect of interests paid on debt. It can be calculated as the reported earnings
before tax plus the interest expense stated in the income statement [Bodie, Kane and Marcus, 2004].
The EBIT should then be reduced by the hypothetical tax (computed as EBIT * tax rate) in order to
obtain Earnings After Tax without the effect of debt financing. This number shows the accounting
profit which would have been realized had the firm used no debt to finance its operation. 1
According to [Fernandez, 2002], the most important types of cash–flow are the Free cashflow
(cash–flow available to satisfy both the shareholders' and creditors' return requirements), the Equity
Cash–flow (cash–flow available for shareholders) and the Debt Cash–flow (cash–flow available for
creditors). 14 Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) – Tax on EBIT (EBIT * Tax rate)
Accounting earnings = Earnings After Tax without debt + Depreciation expense – Increase in gross
fixed assets – Increase in Working Capital Adjusting items = FREE CASH FLOW (FCF)

Descriptive Essay About School
I heard footsteps coming closer from the white newly polished hall across the room. My hands are
shaking, I'm sweating from my forehead down. I'm as nervous as I could and will ever be. Is school
finally over or, is it a teacher coming to give us more work? Even worse is the principal coming?
Hopefully, if I'm lucky it's just a student coming back from the filthy, smelly, gross bathroom. Oh,
thank god it's just Ellie, my best friend. We've been besties since preschool. She has blonde hair,
brown eyes, and always wears her long, luxurious hair in a high, sleek ponytail. To think about it,
we're kind of like a power couple. Blonde and brunette. I also have long hair just not as long as
Ellie's. I have brown hair, blue eyes, and I always wear cute dresses. At least I think they're cute.
Ellie says I need a style change. My name's Valerie but you can call me V. All my friends call me
that.

today, at this time, that blessing of a bell means school is over. Well, at least the day is. And do you
know what that means? Time to create some pranks because it's senior prank day!

Brown Vs Smith
Brown v Smith In the club bar Smith, by way of a practical joke, pulled a chair away just as Brown
(the referee) was about to sit down, resulting in Brown falling over and striking his head on the
floor. Therefore S. may be liable under the rule in Wilkinson v Downton, in addition to battery. He
will not be liable for assault since this requires reasonable apprehension by B and that does not seem
to be the case. Battery has been defined earlier when discussing his liability for J's injury, so
although the elements from the criteria will not be repeated here it will still apply to this scenario.
Both the act and immediate infliction can be dealt with together; in this case, the act of pulling the
chair away was a positive act and was immediately inflicted since B. was about to sit down
instantly, as a result of which he fell and injured his head. As for intention, its scope is argued to be
wide enough to cover practical jokes (Williams v Humphrey); for example, pushing someone into

However, it is hard to establish the liability for this tort due to the low number of case–law, and even
then, they are mostly conflicting. In Wainwright v Home Office, the courts have held that the

simply emotional distress is not enough. This case approved the definition in Wong v Parkside NHS

At first glance, there isn't a lot of creativity to it because it si a confrontation conversation, wherein
the prankster insists that the person being pranked called them. However, the funny part of this
prank is that the victim will get increasingly irate over trying to prove that they didn't call first. It's
one of the pranks that can go on and on.
Congrats! You Won!
In many restaurants you can find little boxes with forms, that you need to fill for a chance to win a

A Day At The Sherry Netherland Hotel
Our plan for having a fun and relaxing day at The Sherry–Netherland Hotel in New York City was
perfectly planned out. We would head out to the pool, eat pizza, play in the arcade, and then go
explore the city. Here we are, two brothers, in a luxurious hotel, in the middle of a big city, what
could go wrong?
So, we set the alarm for 10am in hopes to be back in our hotel room by 8pm. We woke up the next
day excited to start the day. We noticed our dad was still sleeping. So we take the opportunity to
make a prank call to the front desk, now the employee at the front desk is suspicious of our prank
call. Once our dad woke up, he asked if we were excited for our day ahead of us. Immediately we
got ready for going to the pool and packed some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After getting on, I reached into my pocket for my phone and realized it wasn't there. It must have
fallen out when we quickly jumped onto the elevator. I have to go back up to get it before someone
steals it.
All of a sudden the elevator abruptly shook to a slow stop, making a screeching sound louder than
I've ever heard. The shaking and abrupt stop caused everyone to fall on our feet. Trying to regain my
hearing from the deafening sound Dean exclaimed, "what in the world was that!?" I don't think the
elevator isn't moving anymore is it? Derek(me), Dean said, "are we stuck here, I really don't like
this." I replied, "we can just use the phone built into the elevator to call the front desk." I'll call them
right now so I took out the phone hatch and hit the button to call them. Once I got the people from
the front desk I said, our elevator got stuck halfway down to the first floor and we can't get out. The
lady at the other end of the line replied, "aren't you that kid that made a prank call this morning?" I
said, "yes but we 're really stuck and this isn't a prank. I heard the phone go blank as she hung up
and thought, why did we do that.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Data Model
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
1. Describe and compare 3 data models outlining their strengths and weaknesses with each other.
Connolly and Begg (2009) defines a data model as "an integrated collection of concepts for
describing and manipulating data, relations between data, and constraints on the data in an
organization." Simply, a data model is a representation of how the different types of data interact.
They can be categorized into three main broad aspects, which are object based, record based and
physical data model. The object based model include the Entity– Relationship, Semantic, Functional
and Object Oriented Model. The record based comprise of Relational Data Model, Network Model
and the Hierarchical Model. The physical data model "describe how data is stored in the computer,
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to the network data model, "data is represented as collections of records and relationships
are represented by sets." This model only permits a node to have one parent, this makes it efficient
for searching if all desired access paths follow the parent–child linkages. This makes one–to–many
relationships well represented within the hierarchical model. The main difference between the
network data model and the hierarchical data model, is that in the network model a child could have
a many to many relationship with its parent entity. Similarly, just like the network data model, the
hierarchical data model is simple and easy to design.
The main limitation of record based data models like the network and hierarchical is "they do not
provide adequate facilities for explicitly specifying constraints on the data" (Connolly 2009).
Another limitation of the network and hierarchical model is that they require "the user to have
knowledge of the physical database being accessed, whereas the relational data model provides a
substantial amount of data independence." (Connolly

Who Wears The Braces? A Practical Application Of...
For this ethical research report, I decided to base it on the article titled, "Who wears the braces? A
practical application of adolescent consent.". I chose this article from the title. It intrigued me to
know what it was about and what it had to say and when I read on to find that it was talking about
the role of informed consent in dentistry when it comes to adolescents, I was interested. I've always
believed that, no matter the legal age, maturity isn't based on that documented number. There is no
"legal age" for maturity and capability of understanding. But when it comes to legal decision
making in health care environments, I believed majority agreed with a child being too young to
understand what they're asking for. I was curious to know others views and opinions of this topic,
especially in it were relating to a health care medical field. You would think that the responsibility of
making a decision would go to the parent when it concerns health, but I was surprised and pleased to
know that there is more to it than that. This article discusses the issues involved in getting valid
consent from adolescent patients concerning their treatment that pertains to them. It explores the
idea of considering their opinions and capacity of knowledge when it comes to decision making
instead of automatically leaving that responsibility to the parent present. It specifically refers to the
consent of younger aged patients in the orthodontic practice environment where a conflict

The Inspired Kantian Non Formalism Analysis
Chapter Four
The Inspired Kantian Non–Formalism
The interpretation of Kant as a moral formalist or constructivist precisely, has been dominant in
much of the recent secondary literature on Kant in English–speaking world, for Silber, Rawls and
O'Neill we analyzed. Those interpretations have lately come under sustained philosophical attack by
the defenders of a non–moral formalist or realist interpretation of Kant. We have mentioned at the
outset, the essential division for formalist and non–formalist is in their understanding C1 as a
'formal' accomplishment or not. So far we have seen the formalist holds out for the preeminence of
universalzation in the hierarchy of principles, i.e. the buttressing rules Rawls or O'Neill posed. Now
we are to see how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concept of moral law springs from pure reason or reason that exists separate from empirical
considerations. Since pure reason is able to be relevant to material action, we see a conceptual
bridge is constructed in the form of the maxim, to the degree that it is tested in accordance to
prescriptive law, a determinate rule of action. This determination, it must be stressed, is voluntary
and subjectively constructed, while the basis of the analysis, this intend to act from duty, is based on
an understanding of moral law.
Hence, Dietrichson points out a non–formal approach to explain Kant, it is non–formal because it
raises the humanity–the material for Kant to guide action. Precisely, because the pure reason enables
us to grasp the moral law, we are striking to fulfill the requirement to act 'from' duty as it constitutes
purity of our humanity. Dietrichson did not see the formula of moral law as formal accomplishment
that reason alone could indentify moral law, but it must have non–formal

What Is Ecological Theory Of Crime And Does It Have Any...
What is ecological theory of crime and does it have any practical applications?
The ecological theory of crime, also known as social disorganisation of crime is a theory used to
describe the difference in crime in association with physical environmental factors such as cultural
and structural factors. In the 1970's and 1980's the term 'environmental criminology' was used until
it became associated with environmental issues. This theory can also be defined as a positivist
theory because it seeks to find out about human behaviour. For the ecological theory the causes of
crime for example are found in the way of the physical environment, where people live and socially
interact. This is what creates the conditions for criminal and non–criminal behaviour.
The research into the theory of social disorganisation is a vast subject rich with research stemming
from the 17th century, thus making it a complicated subject to analyse since there are so many
sources to draw from. Research into social disorganisation started with plant and the urban change
which led to many different fields like environmental criminology (Brantingham and Brantingham,
1981). French research done by Warming (1909) into plant biology found that plants live in
communities with varying states. He found that communities with predominately the same species
have more competition with nature than with each other, communities with several different species
however competed for limited resources more among

The Practical Application of the Age of Criminal...
The Practical Application of the Age of Criminal Responsibilities It is crucial to understand the
purpose and the consequences of having the minimum age of criminal responsibilities set at a young
age. There have been many studies completed that give appreciation to the rights of children and
give an understanding of their specific capabilities. Being informed about children's culpability, their
competence to participate in the criminal justice system (CJS) and the consequences of criminalising
them at a young age are crucial areas that need to be looked at in detail when thinking of setting
with a minimum age of criminal responsibilities (Farmer, 2011). Adolescents are around the age of

There are numerous studies that support the idea that compliance is influenced by age. Studies have
shown that over 75% of children aged 11–13 decided to accept a plea offer compared to 50% of
adults, and 55% have decided to fully confessed compared to 15% of young adults (Farmer, 2011).
The results from these studies also indicate that competence to participate in the CJS is increased
with age (Farmer, 2011). During detention and interrogation, an "appropriate adult", like a parent or
a guardian, must be present when dealing with juveniles during police questioning for protection
(Farmer, 2011). However, in 62% of cases involving juveniles, these adults convinced the accused to
waive their rights to legal representation, which is an indication of their decision making freedom
being replaced by compliance (Farmer, 2011).
False confessions
There is a direct correlation between false confessions and age, where juveniles were would be more
keen to taking responsibility for an act he or she did not commit (Farmer, 2011). To prove this
hypothesis, a laboratory experiment was conducted to show that suggestibility was an important
factor in regards to false confession (Farmer, 2011). This experiment was created to convince
participants in three different age groups, 12 and 13 year olds, 15 and 16 year olds, and young adults
that they

My Prank Friend
My best friend, Ashley, and I have been known to get into some serious trouble together. We have
gotten in so much trouble that our parents would not allow us to see each other for a while, but we
are still best friends despite that. We have learned some serious lessons together. One blazing hot,
Alabama, summer day Ashley and I, who were around eight at the time, were playing at my house
when we learned a very important lesson which we still regret to this day. We decided to prank call a
family friend who had a daughter our age. That day we made a poor decision, went through with the
prank call, and both ended up in serious trouble while learning an important lesson.
Since it was such a sweltering summer day, Ashley and I decided not to play outside, but that
usually meant trouble for us. We spent the majority of the day watching YouTube videos on my third
generation iPod Touch and sneaking around getting into my mom's makeup. In one of the videos we
watched a man was making prank calls, and we decided we wanted to be like him by making our
own prank calls. We decided to go ask my mom if it would be okay to do this, but she, of course,
told us absolutely not. Since we were two extremely stubborn, bored girls we decided to make the
prank calls anyway, but we had to figure out how. We watched, even more, videos on prank calling,
and we thought we were set even though we really had no clue what we were doing. Since we
thought we were prepared to make what would turn out

Is There a Moral Obligation to Obey the Law?
‘Must we only obey a just law; should we obey a law because it is just to do so; or else can we not
obey at all?'
ESSAY
The questions that shall be answered in this essay are ‘Must we only obey a just law?', ‘Should we
obey a law because it is just to do so?' and ‘Or else, can we not obey at all?' Before we can answer
these questions it is important to establish what is meant by the term ‘just'. ‘Just' in this case
means ‘morally just', I think, but differences of opinion exist as to its meaning. For the purpose of
this essay, I shall take ‘just' to mean ‘fair' in the way Rawls indicates when he writes about the
veil of justice in 1971: the every–day–sense of the term the average person would agree about.
Should we obey a law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, it can be argued that the actions above do not mean giving consent, for two reasons.
The first is that citizens performing the above actions do not perceive them as giving consent to
obey their country's laws.
Secondly, many of them do not have an alternative. To leave one's home country, one needs money,
a passport and/or visa, an alternative and legally preferable destination and determination, a highly
improbable combination.
A second argument against the idea of consent is the following. Even if these actions can be held to
constitute consent, does that mean the individual has to obey whatever laws the government makes
from that day onwards? It can be argued that the act of voting e.g., or not leaving is maybe
insufficient to justify creating the broad obligation to obey any law the government makes. We
would possibly be exaggerating the weight of this single promise.
THE MORAL DUTY TO SUPPORT AND FURTHER JUST INSTITUTIONS
An argument Rawls gives in favour of a moral obligation to support the law is that there is a moral
duty to ‘support and further just institutions'. What is meant is that if a government is generally just
and democratic, its laws should be obeyed in order to support and further them. The origin of the
moral obligation is thus that just institutions should be helped and supported.
This argument raises the following question: how does one know what a just institution is? Although

Essay on Practical Applications of Evolutionary Biology
Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace's concept of natural selection and descent with modification
helped shape the theory of evolution which holds as much weight as the theory of relativity per se.
Evolutionary biology is the science devoted to understanding how populations change through time
in response to modifications of their environment and how new species come into being by studying
adaptation and diversity (Freeman and Herron 2004). Evolutionary biology has proved that all
organisms have evolved from a common ancestor over the last 3.5 billion years. There is a common
misconception that evolution is only a theoretical or abstract science with little or no relevance to
the real world (Halliburton, 2004). This common misperception ... Show more content on

Bull and Whichman (2001) state how "understanding evolution can help us retard or even prevent
the evolution of resistance." They further delineate that:
The misuse of antibiotics encourages evolution in the bacterium so that it is no longer affected by
the drug. If the bacterium spreads, then people contracting it are at risk of an untreatable infection,
no matter how conscientious they have been in their past use of antibiotics. (2001)
This study concluded that resistance might become a global problem very quickly most likely due to
a high volume of international travel among humans and animals. It is the job of the evolutionary
biologists in conjunction with the medical community and profession to inform the public about
bacterial resistance management. Some applications covered would be proper dosage requirements,
combinational drug therapy and administering selective application of antibiotics with patients and
animals. Learning about the evolutionary origins of disease as well as the basic processes of
evolution may provide insight on how to treat current diseases such as Huntington's Chorea – which
may help us better understand the genetic roots of disease.
A flu shot is an example of how we can hinder the evolution of resistance by the way we apply these
toxins to our body's environment. Since the dawn of man, humans have been constantly creating
defenses

Kant’s Argugument for the Existance of Supreme Moral Law
By the end of section II of The Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant has established
that, if there were a supreme moral law, it would look like the categorical imperative. His task in the
final section of the Groundwork is to show that there does in fact exist such a moral law by proving
that we have free wills, and secondary to this, he wants to show why we actually take an interest in
morality. This paper will provide an account and evaluate the success of Kant's argument in this
final section.
By the start of section III, Kant has finished developing the structure of the supreme moral law, were
it to exist. He began by analyzing our popular conceptions of morality, and worked toward
developing a rational reconstruction of this morality. In line with this effort, Kant specifies the will
as the fundamental cause of action for rational beings, and it is the supreme moral law that the will
acts for the sake of and from which we derive our duties. This principle, called the categorical
imperative, is the "unconditioned conditioner" of the will, in that it is the determining ground for the
will, but is not itself determined by any other law.
Kant offers three formulas of the categorical imperative in section II, and it is the third formulation,
which requires us to think of ourselves as legislating universal law in a kingdom of ends, that
emphasizes the importance of autonomy. It is this concept of autonomy, or freedom of the will, that
will be crucial for Kant in

Practical Application Of Leadership In John Updike's 'A & P'?
The principles and practical application of leadership change from community to community. Every
group has its own leader, and every leader develops his or her leadership style based on their
community norms and expectations. In John Updike's "A&P", leadership qualities stem from
individuals background and social class, and the leaders of each group reflect their community. The
two main leaders that Updike uses to present his community oriented definition are Queenie and
Lengel. They hail from the same general vicinity, but represent two starkly different communities
with clashing realities and outlooks. Queenie and Lengel's portrayal of peer and community
leadership combine to serve as a case study on the different motivations that leaders use lead, along
with different modes of execution. Queenie is the first leader that is observed in the story. She is
immediately described as "the queen (Updike 2)" and is portrayed as having natural and absolute
command of her group of three. Her specific movements and posture indicate her status as a leader,
from the fact that she "didn't look around (Updike 2)" to the other girl's natural tendency to "peek
around her (Updike 2)". Queenie exudes obvious surface level qualities of leadership, and these base
level qualities lead to her representation of her community. The girls come from the upper–class
area of the ocean side and have a different set of societal standards. They are seen in the grocery
store literally "walking against the usual traffic (Updike 3)", and the "glare (Updike 3)" cast upon
them by the middle–class population of the grocery store solidifies their status as outsiders.
Queenies representation of general high–class mannerisms also shows up at eye level. She is
described as having her "head held so high that her neck looked kind of stretched (Updike 2)." This
kind of "better than you" attitude is a stereotype of high society, and Queenie exudes it in the way
she conducts herself and showed her two friends "how to do it (Updike 2)". Lengel is the
representation of the middle class in the story, and leads both the store as a manager and the local
community as an example of what is good and proper. Lengel is immediately established as an

Biblical Foundations And Practical Applications Of Hope
How many times have we heard ourselves or others, say the phrase, I hope so? When life gives us
challenges we hope that we will catch a break or that something will give and our lives will change.
Our hopes are usually always followed by a prayer either by ourselves or those around us. This
paper will explore the theological definition, biblical foundations and practical applications of hope
and prayer, it will show that hope comes from God and prayer is more than asking for things.
Hope
Theological Definition: The Merriam–Webster dictionary defines hope as to want something to
happen or be true and think that it could happen or be true (Merriam–Webster, 2015) . It's a feeling.
In biblical, hope is a reality. "Biblical hope is a sure foundation upon which we base our lives,
believing that God always keeps His promises" (What does the bible say about hope? n.d.) This
hope is ours when we trust God's word. John 6:47 state, Very truly I tell you, the one who believes
has eternal life. When we believe these words are true hope is no longer a feeling, but the reality of
God's promise.
Biblical Foundation:
Hope is one of the many genres found in the Bible. In the Old Testament, "Hope in God was
generated by his mighty deeds in history. In fulfilling His promise to Abraham (Genesis 12:1–3), he
redeemed the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. He provided for their needs in the wilderness,
formed them into a covenant community at Sinai, and led them into the successful

Coding Theory, Its Components And Its Practical Applications
This case study covers the coding theory, its components and its practical applications. Coding
theory, sometimes called logarithmic coding hypothesis, manages the configuration of lapse
remedying codes for the dependable transmission of data crosswise over uproarious channels.
Error coding is utilized as a part of numerous advanced provisions like workstation memory,
attractive and optical information stockpiling media. The investigation of mistake rectifying codes
and the cohorted arithmetic is known as coding hypothesis. In information theory, the amount of
positions at which the relating images are distinctive between two strings is Hamming distance.
Hamming code is a set of error correction codes that might be utilized to recognize and right bit
errors that can happen when machine information is moved or put away.
There is lot of examples of coding theory; one of the biggest examples of its use is in
communication field, i–e modulation, encryption and decryption of signal.
Coding Theory – A Case
In 1948, Claude Shannon, working at Bell Laboratories in the USA, introduced the entire subject of
coding hypothesis by indicating that it was conceivable to encode messages in such a path, to the
point that the amount of additional bits transmitted was as little as would be prudent. Unfortunately,
his confirmation did not give any express formulas for these ideal codes. It was two years after the
fact that Richard Hamming, likewise at Bell Labs, started considering

I have to ride my bike all the way to John's house. We have been friends since Kindergarten. It takes me 15 minutes to get to his house. As soon as I arrive, we went into the living room to play video games. We are enjoying our time playing video games. I told Brody that I want to do something else. John took the house phone from the counter and started to make prank calls to random numbers. After he calls Pizza Hut, we both got a good laugh at the reaction. Now John is trying to get me to make some prank calls. It took me four or five tries but eventually I found a number. I call the number. The phone keeps ringing. A man with a deep voice picks up the phone. The man says, "Hello Brody." I backed away in shock! I asked John if he knew what he meant. He replied, "No. I have no idea who that was or how he knew your name. I know Caller ID is off, so it doesn't display the name. I quickly hung up the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We thought it would be a good idea to get our minds off of what happened. John and I are watching Outlast by our favorite YouTuber, Gash. It is a horror game based on an insane asylum. It has always been our favorite game to watch together. After about 10 minutes, we are deeply into the storyline. Out of nowhere, I hear a noise outside. It sounds like something in the bushes. I'm confused. "Hey John, get over here!" We both decide to check out the noise that I heard outside the premises. I bravely open the curtain. My heart is racing. My adrenaline is going crazy! I opened the curtain, and there is a man standing right outside of the window. The man is looking into my eyes. He reminds me of one of the characters from the Outlast game.I looked into the hideous face of the man. He slowly starts walking to the front door. "Sir, we do not serve boneless ice, but you can order from the Mc Pick 2 menu for only $5!" explained Jeff, the McDonald's worker. "No thank you, but my friend would like to have an order of Two chicken sandwiches and a fidget spinner for the toy on the side." he chuckled. "Sir, we also do not serve chicken sandwiches and we do not have fidget spinners!" he grumbled with a deep sigh afterwards. "Ok, I will have two number nines and a number nine large with a chilli dog on the side and a hog rider toy at the end." said Steben with a red face just barely holding in all of his laughter. Finding Humanity Of Technology : Computer Science Hannah Mathew Section: ID76 Kristina Johnson 10/31/16 Finding Humanity in Technology Computer science essentially creates the future for the next generation through technological advancements and software applications that can mold the nature of multiple interactions ranging from personal calls to professional meetings to individual entertainments. The insight that comes through the humanities is vital in understanding the cultural implications that come with a sense of place and individuality. Because of the close connection software applications have with daily lives of consumers, the influences individuals face impact the way they receive software products. While analyzing the theme of community through Inside Mecca in correspondence with evaluating the danger of having a single story through Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's testimony, the importance of the field of humanities to computer scientists and software developers can be better understood. Through the global interactions and the unity found in the presence of great diversity in both the Haij (Inside Mecca) as well as through the teamwork of software engineers, the influence the humanities, using the theme of community and society, is striking. Through the testimony of a man going on the Haij, "the most important thing to gain is brotherhood and sisterhood,... [regardless if you are a] millionaire or what,"(Inside Mecca 8:31). Every poorly worded joke or inconsiderate prank about race can lead to a person's whole life being destroyed by woke twitter. Yet, a small made for TV movie known as Windy City Heat has managed to walk on by, unscathed by the wrath of PC culture. By stereotyping almost every minority group, Windy City Heat is arguably one of the most offensive films ever made, yet I found it amusing, hilarious, and a little enlightening. Ultimately, I believe that Windy City Heat uses extremes of stereotypes to vitiate the negative aspects of these stereotypes, and in doing so, acts as a morally acceptable pranks that aims to teach members of the film and the audience to be more welcoming. Windy City Heat is a faux–reality film that follows Perry Caravello and his group of rag tag friends as they try to make it big in Hollywood. This films primary focus is on Perry, a failed stand–up and actor, who looks to make his big break when he gets cast as the star of the big Hollywood production of Windy City Heat. Little does he know, this is actually a decades long prank that is being played up by his two show business friends, Don Barris and Mole. As the audience follows Perry around the set of this film, Perry become intertwined into more and more morally questionable situations in which he usually fails to the do the right thing. More relevance will be given to its medical uses/ importance as it was the most beneficial trait that x–rays brought. X–rays were discovered in 1895 when Wilhelm Conrad Röentgen was doing some experiments with electron beams in a gas discharge tube and observed a glow in one of his fluorescent screens whenever the electron beam was on. It was a fact that fluorescent material usually glowed in reaction to magnetic radiation but the gas discharge tube was surrounded by heavy black cardboard which was assumed by Roentgen to block most of the radiation. Confused and curious, Roentgen then put several objects between the tube and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The denser areas are shown as white while the soft areas appear dark in the film but sometimes some organs may block x–rays from showing broken or cracked bones and for this reason CAT (Computer Axial Tomography) was invented. Firstly, the person requiring the scan is put inside of a scanner, which is a long tube–shaped machine and then x–rayed from all angles, after a computer puts all of the images together so that doctors can analyse them. CAT are mainly used for head and brain injuries and appropriate shielded should be provided to cover the areas not being x–rayed. At the dentist the same principle applies, x–ray film is put in one side of the teeth and x–rays are shot through the jaw, metal is more absorbent than teeth and bones so any filling on the teeth would appear lighter in the x–ray film. Fig. 2 Exposure limits exist to prevent exposure and limit chronic exposure to "acceptable" levels because in fact there is no safe level of exposure as there is always a small probability of exposure being the cause of some ailments, like cancer. It is then recommended to keep levels of exposure "as low as reasonable achievable" (ALARA). A person can safely get up to 300 simple x–rays a year or 5 CAT (Computed Axial Tomography) scans and the risk of developing cancer would only increase by 1% as in most cases the cells that get damaged due to radiation die prematurely. (2) If Alf's question is of type (a) or (c), it's silly. Nothing could be more obvious than that Alf has a moral reason to be moral. It's a plain fact that being moral is the moral thing to do – it's the option justified from the moral point of view – and this is clearly a reason for Alf to be moral. (3) If Alf's question is of type (b) or (d) it's unreasonable; hence we need not bother with it. Moral philosophy aims at rational persuasion, not at generating motives to act. Nor does it aim to justify morality in terms of prudence, law, custom, or etiquette. Indeed, such a justification is impossible. But we should not be disturbed about this. The moral life is not called into question by showing that it does not reduce to a concern for custom, prudence, etc., any more than prudence is called into question by showing that it does not reduce to a concern for morality. (4) Thus, Alf's question is silly or unreasonable. We need not bother with it. SR can be set out as follows: (I) Responses to "Why should I be moral?" that treat the question as illegitimate, SA being one such response, fail to envision all the things the question might express. The Three Little Pigs By Joseph Jacobs "The Three Little Pigs" is a classic fairytale about three pigs who build each their own house, and the wolf who tries to devour the pigs by blowing down their house. "The Three Little Pigs" has it origins from James Orchard Halliwell in Popular Rhymes and Nursery Tales (1849) in England. Halliwell's rendition was the first known print version in the world. Joseph Jacobs' wrote the world's most popular rendition in his English Fairy Tales (1898). In the 1880, Joel Chandler Harris made "The Three Little Pigs" popular in the United States in Tales of Uncle Remus (1880). Fifer is able to elude the wolf and seek refuge in Fiddler's house. Next, the Wolf pretends to admit defeat and go home, but he returns later disguised an innocent, baby sheep. The pigs are not fooled by the disguise and promptly say, "Not by the hair of our chinny– chin–chin! You can't fool us with that old sheep skin!" (The Three Little Pigs). The calculation of FCF can be done according to the formula shown by Figure 1 (based on [Copeland, Murrin and Koller, 2000], [Fernandez, 2002] and [Agar, 2005]). Initially, we need to determine Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT), which represents hypothetical earnings before tax which ignores the effect of interests paid on debt. It can be calculated as the reported earnings before tax plus the interest expense stated in the income statement [Bodie, Kane and Marcus, 2004]. The EBIT should then be reduced by the hypothetical tax (computed as EBIT * tax rate) in order to obtain Earnings After Tax without the effect of debt financing. This number shows the accounting profit which would have been realized had the firm used no debt to finance its operation. 1 According to [Fernandez, 2002], the most important types of cash–flow are the Free cashflow (cash–flow available to satisfy both the shareholders' and creditors' return requirements), the Equity Cash–flow (cash–flow available for shareholders) and the Debt Cash–flow (cash–flow available for creditors). 14 Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) – Tax on EBIT (EBIT * Tax rate) Accounting earnings = Earnings After Tax without debt + Depreciation expense – Increase in gross fixed assets – Increase in Working Capital Adjusting items = FREE CASH FLOW (FCF) ... Brown Vs Smith Brown v Smith In the club bar Smith, by way of a practical joke, pulled a chair away just as Brown (the referee) was about to sit down, resulting in Brown falling over and striking his head on the floor. Therefore S. may be liable under the rule in Wilkinson v Downton, in addition to battery. He will not be liable for assault since this requires reasonable apprehension by B and that does not seem to be the case. Battery has been defined earlier when discussing his liability for J's injury, so although the elements from the criteria will not be repeated here it will still apply to this scenario. Both the act and immediate infliction can be dealt with together; in this case, the act of pulling the chair away was a positive act and was immediately inflicted since B. was about to sit down instantly, as a result of which he fell and injured his head. As for intention, its scope is argued to be wide enough to cover practical jokes (Williams v Humphrey); for example, pushing someone into the pool, or even an amicably intended kiss, can be argued to amount to battery. Connolly and Begg (2009) defines a data model as "an integrated collection of concepts for describing and manipulating data, relations between data, and constraints on the data in an organization." Simply, a data model is a representation of how the different types of data interact. They can be categorized into three main broad aspects, which are object based, record based and physical data model. The object based model include the Entity– Relationship, Semantic, Functional and Object Oriented Model. The record based comprise of Relational Data Model, Network Model and the Hierarchical Model. The physical data model "describe how data is stored in the computer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to the network data model, "data is represented as collections of records and relationships are represented by sets." This model only permits a node to have one parent, this makes it efficient for searching if all desired access paths follow the parent–child linkages. This makes one–to–many relationships well represented within the hierarchical model. The main difference between the network data model and the hierarchical data model, is that in the network model a child could have a many to many relationship with its parent entity. Similarly, just like the network data model, the hierarchical data model is simple and easy to design. The main limitation of record based data models like the network and hierarchical is "they do not provide adequate facilities for explicitly specifying constraints on the data" (Connolly 2009). Another limitation of the network and hierarchical model is that they require "the user to have knowledge of the physical database being accessed, whereas the relational data model provides a substantial amount of data independence." A practical application of adolescent consent.". I chose this article from the title. It intrigued me to know what it was about and what it had to say and when I read on to find that it was talking about the role of informed consent in dentistry when it comes to adolescents, I was interested. I've always believed that, no matter the legal age, maturity isn't based on that documented number. There is no "legal age" for maturity and capability of understanding. But when it comes to legal decision making in health care environments, I believed majority agreed with a child being too young to understand what they're asking for. I was curious to know others views and opinions of this topic, especially in it were relating to a health care medical field. You would think that the responsibility of making a decision would go to the parent when it concerns health, but I was surprised and pleased to know that there is more to it than that. This article discusses the issues involved in getting valid consent from adolescent patients concerning their treatment that pertains to them. It explores the idea of considering their opinions and capacity of knowledge when it comes to decision making instead of automatically leaving that responsibility to the parent present. It specifically refers to the consent of younger aged patients in the orthodontic practice environment where a conflict ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Inspired Kantian Non Formalism Analysis Chapter Four The Inspired Kantian Non–Formalism The interpretation of Kant as a moral formalist or constructivist precisely, has been dominant in much of the recent secondary literature on Kant in English–speaking world, for Silber, Rawls and O'Neill we analyzed. Those interpretations have lately come under sustained philosophical attack by the defenders of a non–moral formalist or realist interpretation of Kant. We have mentioned at the outset, the essential division for formalist and non–formalist is in their understanding C1 as a 'formal' accomplishment or not. So far we have seen the formalist holds out for the preeminence of universalzation in the hierarchy of principles, i.e. the buttressing rules Rawls or O'Neill posed. Now we are to see how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concept of moral law springs from pure reason or reason that exists separate from empirical considerations. Since pure reason is able to be relevant to material action, we see a conceptual bridge is constructed in the form of the maxim, to the degree that it is tested in accordance to prescriptive law, a determinate rule of action. This determination, it must be stressed, is voluntary and subjectively constructed, while the basis of the analysis, this intend to act from duty, is based on an understanding of moral law. Hence, Dietrichson points out a non–formal approach to explain Kant, it is non–formal because it raises the humanity–the material for Kant to guide action. Precisely, because the pure reason enables us to grasp the moral law, we are striking to fulfill the requirement to act 'from' duty as it constitutes purity of our humanity. The ecological theory of crime, also known as social disorganisation of crime is a theory used to describe the difference in crime in association with physical environmental factors such as cultural and structural factors. In the 1970's and 1980's the term 'environmental criminology' was used until it became associated with environmental issues. This theory can also be defined as a positivist theory because it seeks to find out about human behaviour. For the ecological theory the causes of crime for example are found in the way of the physical environment, where people live and socially interact. This is what creates the conditions for criminal and non–criminal behaviour. The research into the theory of social disorganisation is a vast subject rich with research stemming from the 17th century, thus making it a complicated subject to analyse since there are so many sources to draw from. Research into social disorganisation started with plant and the urban change which led to many different fields like environmental criminology (Brantingham and Brantingham, 1981). French research done by Warming (1909) into plant biology found that plants live in communities with varying states. He found that communities with predominately the same species have more competition with nature than with each other, communities with several different species however competed for limited resources more among ... The Practical Application of the Age of Criminal Responsibilities It is crucial to understand the purpose and the consequences of having the minimum age of criminal responsibilities set at a young age. There have been many studies completed that give appreciation to the rights of children and give an understanding of their specific capabilities. Being informed about children's culpability, their competence to participate in the criminal justice system (CJS) and the consequences of criminalising them at a young age are crucial areas that need to be looked at in detail when thinking of setting with a minimum age of criminal responsibilities (Farmer, 2011). Adolescents are around the age of maturity and go through many developmental changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are numerous studies that support the idea that compliance is influenced by age. Studies have shown that over 75% of children aged 11–13 decided to accept a plea offer compared to 50% of adults, and 55% have decided to fully confessed compared to 15% of young adults (Farmer, 2011). The results from these studies also indicate that competence to participate in the CJS is increased with age (Farmer, 2011). During detention and interrogation, an "appropriate adult", like a parent or a guardian, must be present when dealing with juveniles during police questioning for protection (Farmer, 2011). However, in 62% of cases involving juveniles, these adults convinced the accused to waive their rights to legal representation, which is an indication of their decision making freedom being replaced by compliance (Farmer, 2011). False confessions There is a direct correlation between false confessions and age, where juveniles were would be more keen to taking responsibility for an act he or she did not commit (Farmer, 2011). To prove this hypothesis, a laboratory experiment was conducted to show that suggestibility was an important factor in regards to false confession (Farmer, 2011). This experiment was created to convince participants in three different age groups, 12 and 13 year olds, 15 and 16 year olds, and young adults that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 60. My Prank Friend My best friend, Ashley, and I have been known to get into some serious trouble together. We have gotten in so much trouble that our parents would not allow us to see each other for a while, but we are still best friends despite that. We have learned some serious lessons together. One blazing hot, Alabama, summer day Ashley and I, who were around eight at the time, were playing at my house when we learned a very important lesson which we still regret to this day. We decided to prank call a family friend who had a daughter our age. That day we made a poor decision, went through with the prank call, and both ended up in serious trouble while learning an important lesson. Since it was such a sweltering summer day, Ashley and I decided not to play outside, but that usually meant trouble for us. We spent the majority of the day watching YouTube videos on my third generation iPod Touch and sneaking around getting into my mom's makeup. In one of the videos we watched a man was making prank calls, and we decided we wanted to be like him by making our own prank calls. We decided to go ask my mom if it would be okay to do this, but she, of course, told us absolutely not. Since we were two extremely stubborn, bored girls we decided to make the prank calls anyway, but we had to figure out how. We watched, even more, videos on prank calling, and we thought we were set even though we really had no clue what we were doing. Since we thought we were prepared to make what would turn out ... • 65. Is There a Moral Obligation to Obey the Law? ‘Must we only obey a just law; should we obey a law because it is just to do so; or else can we not obey at all?' ESSAY The questions that shall be answered in this essay are ‘Must we only obey a just law?', ‘Should we obey a law because it is just to do so?' and ‘Or else, can we not obey at all?' Before we can answer these questions it is important to establish what is meant by the term ‘just'. ‘Just' in this case means ‘morally just', I think, but differences of opinion exist as to its meaning. For the purpose of this essay, I shall take ‘just' to mean ‘fair' in the way Rawls indicates when he writes about the veil of justice in 1971: the every–day–sense of the term the average person would agree about. Should we obey a law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, it can be argued that the actions above do not mean giving consent, for two reasons. The first is that citizens performing the above actions do not perceive them as giving consent to obey their country's laws. Secondly, many of them do not have an alternative. To leave one's home country, one needs money, a passport and/or visa, an alternative and legally preferable destination and determination, a highly improbable combination. A second argument against the idea of consent is the following. Even if these actions can be held to constitute consent, does that mean the individual has to obey whatever laws the government makes from that day onwards? It can be argued that the act of voting e.g., or not leaving is maybe insufficient to justify creating the broad obligation to obey any law the government makes. We would possibly be exaggerating the weight of this single promise. THE MORAL DUTY TO SUPPORT AND FURTHER JUST INSTITUTIONS An argument Rawls gives in favour of a moral obligation to support the law is that there is a moral duty to ‘support and further just institutions'. What is meant is that if a government is generally just and democratic, its laws should be obeyed in order to support and further them. The origin of the moral obligation is thus that just institutions should be helped and supported. This argument raises the following question: how does one know what a just institution is? Although an

  • 68. Essay on Practical Applications of Evolutionary Biology Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace's concept of natural selection and descent with modification helped shape the theory of evolution which holds as much weight as the theory of relativity per se. Evolutionary biology is the science devoted to understanding how populations change through time in response to modifications of their environment and how new species come into being by studying adaptation and diversity (Freeman and Herron 2004). Evolutionary biology has proved that all organisms have evolved from a common ancestor over the last 3.5 billion years. There is a common misconception that evolution is only a theoretical or abstract science with little or no relevance to the real world (Halliburton, 2004). This common misperception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bull and Whichman (2001) state how "understanding evolution can help us retard or even prevent the evolution of resistance." They further delineate that: The misuse of antibiotics encourages evolution in the bacterium so that it is no longer affected by the drug. If the bacterium spreads, then people contracting it are at risk of an untreatable infection, no matter how conscientious they have been in their past use of antibiotics. (2001) This study concluded that resistance might become a global problem very quickly most likely due to a high volume of international travel among humans and animals. It is the job of the evolutionary biologists in conjunction with the medical community and profession to inform the public about bacterial resistance management. Some applications covered would be proper dosage requirements, combinational drug therapy and administering selective application of antibiotics with patients and animals. Learning about the evolutionary origins of disease as well as the basic processes of evolution may provide insight on how to treat current diseases such as Huntington's Chorea – which may help us better understand the genetic roots of disease. A flu shot is an example of how we can hinder the evolution of resistance by the way we apply these toxins to our body's environment. Since the dawn of man, humans have been constantly creating defenses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kant’s Argugument for the Existance of Supreme Moral Law By the end of section II of The Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant has established that, if there were a supreme moral law, it would look like the categorical imperative. His task in the final section of the Groundwork is to show that there does in fact exist such a moral law by proving that we have free wills, and secondary to this, he wants to show why we actually take an interest in morality. This paper will provide an account and evaluate the success of Kant's argument in this final section. By the start of section III, Kant has finished developing the structure of the supreme moral law, were it to exist. He began by analyzing our popular conceptions of morality, and worked toward developing a rational reconstruction of this morality. In line with this effort, Kant specifies the will as the fundamental cause of action for rational beings, and it is the supreme moral law that the will acts for the sake of and from which we derive our duties. This principle, called the categorical imperative, is the "unconditioned conditioner" of the will, in that it is the determining ground for the will, but is not itself determined by any other law. Kant offers three formulas of the categorical imperative in section II, and it is the third formulation, which requires us to think of ourselves as legislating universal law in a kingdom of ends, that emphasizes the importance of autonomy. It is this concept of autonomy, or freedom of the will, that will be crucial for Kant in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Practical Application Of Leadership In John Updike's 'A & P'? The principles and practical application of leadership change from community to community. Every group has its own leader, and every leader develops his or her leadership style based on their community norms and expectations. In John Updike's "A&P", leadership qualities stem from individuals background and social class, and the leaders of each group reflect their community. The two main leaders that Updike uses to present his community oriented definition are Queenie and Lengel. They hail from the same general vicinity, but represent two starkly different communities with clashing realities and outlooks. Queenie and Lengel's portrayal of peer and community leadership combine to serve as a case study on the different motivations that leaders use lead, along with different modes of execution. Queenie is the first leader that is observed in the story. She is immediately described as "the queen (Updike 2)" and is portrayed as having natural and absolute command of her group of three. Her specific movements and posture indicate her status as a leader, from the fact that she "didn't look around (Updike 2)" to the other girl's natural tendency to "peek around her (Updike 2)". Queenie exudes obvious surface level qualities of leadership, and these base level qualities lead to her representation of her community. The girls come from the upper–class area of the ocean side and have a different set of societal standards. They are seen in the grocery store literally "walking against the usual traffic (Updike 3)", and the "glare (Updike 3)" cast upon them by the middle–class population of the grocery store solidifies their status as outsiders. Queenies representation of general high–class mannerisms also shows up at eye level. She is described as having her "head held so high that her neck looked kind of stretched (Updike 2)." This kind of "better than you" attitude is a stereotype of high society, and Queenie exudes it in the way she conducts herself and showed her two friends "how to do it (Updike 2)". Lengel is the representation of the middle class in the story, and leads both the store as a manager and the local community as an example of what is good and proper. Lengel is immediately established as an upstanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Biblical Foundations And Practical Applications Of Hope How many times have we heard ourselves or others, say the phrase, I hope so? When life gives us challenges we hope that we will catch a break or that something will give and our lives will change. Our hopes are usually always followed by a prayer either by ourselves or those around us. This paper will explore the theological definition, biblical foundations and practical applications of hope and prayer, it will show that hope comes from God and prayer is more than asking for things. Hope Theological Definition: The Merriam–Webster dictionary defines hope as to want something to happen or be true and think that it could happen or be true (Merriam–Webster, 2015) . It's a feeling. In biblical, hope is a reality. "Biblical hope is a sure foundation upon which we base our lives, believing that God always keeps His promises" (What does the bible say about hope? n.d.) This hope is ours when we trust God's word. John 6:47 state, Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. When we believe these words are true hope is no longer a feeling, but the reality of God's promise. Biblical Foundation: Hope is one of the many genres found in the Bible. In the Old Testament, "Hope in God was generated by his mighty deeds in history. In fulfilling His promise to Abraham (Genesis 12:1–3), he redeemed the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. He provided for their needs in the wilderness, formed them into a covenant community at Sinai, and led them into the successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coding theory, sometimes called logarithmic coding hypothesis, manages the configuration of lapse remedying codes for the dependable transmission of data crosswise over uproarious channels. Error coding is utilized as a part of numerous advanced provisions like workstation memory, attractive and optical information stockpiling media. The investigation of mistake rectifying codes and the cohorted arithmetic is known as coding hypothesis. In information theory, the amount of positions at which the relating images are distinctive between two strings is Hamming distance. Hamming code is a set of error correction codes that might be utilized to recognize and right bit errors that can happen when machine information is moved or put away. There is lot of examples of coding theory; one of the biggest examples of its use is in communication field, i–e modulation, encryption and decryption of signal. Coding Theory – A Case In 1948, Claude Shannon, working at Bell Laboratories in the USA, introduced the entire subject of coding hypothesis by indicating that it was conceivable to encode messages in such a path, to the point that the amount of additional bits transmitted was as little as would be prudent. Unfortunately, his confirmation did not give any express formulas for these ideal codes. It was two years after the fact that Richard Hamming, likewise at Bell Labs, started considering ...
