Casting Ideas for my Media Foundation Portfolio.

1. Casting Ideas
Due to the fact that the whole of the cast for my opening is male and I don’t know many
males of the ideal age for my characters/males who could look that age, I relied on word of
mouth from the person who I cast as Richard Hurst to help me recruit some other actors.
Therefore my character profiles have been created with my specific actors in mind in order
to mean that they are best suited.
Richard Hurst: Aaron Leiper
I cast Aaron as Richard because he is a friend who I can rely on and trust to show up for
shooting and to do a good job. He is also up for trying new things and was intrigued by the
idea of being covered in blood for the flashback scenes - well he didn’t run away at least!
Detective Whittaker: Ray Colbourne
I chose to cast my Dad as the detective because I felt as though it would be easier to
organise shooting time with him because we could go out and do it at basically any point
rather than a teenager not showing up (and not really fitting the part anyway). He is also in
the age category which I was hoping for Whittaker to be and he had the costume I was
intending for him to wear already.
Tobias Phillips: Franz Del Rosario
Franz is the type of person who is willing to do anything and will try his best to make it work,
he is also a main part in the school musical and therefore I know he is interested in and able
to act. His character’s physical description is very similar to his own because I modelled it to
suit him whereas his character traits are very different from his and will involve him acting
well to portray them.
Will Nelson: Jamie Human
Jamie was one of the people who Aaron recruited for me; I then sculpted his character
profile to suit his physical appearance and created a previous storyline and traits for him to
act upon.
Lance Anderson: Paddy Clarke
Similarly with Jamie, Paddy was an actor who Aaron got on board; he is a main part in the
school musical and so I know he enjoys acting. His character profile was created around his
physical appearance although I created his storyline and personality for him to act upon.
Simon Jackson: Jake Allen
Jake is another actor who Aaron found for me, I then sculpted his character profile around
his physical appearance and created a backstory and characteristics for him to portray.
