2. Lauren (protagonist)
■ Actress: Lizzie Avery
■ Young adult
■ Female
■ Chosen because she is the right age to
plausibly play the protagonist, and has
experience performing, so I am confident
in her ability to play the protagonist for
my film opening. She also has first hand
experiences with catcalling and the other
themes in my piece, therefore will be able
to draw from this to produce a realistic
portrayal of the character of Lauren, as
well as offer alternative takes on
reactions to events.
3. Man 1
■ Actor: JakeWitherington
■ Young adult
■ Male
■ Chosen because he is the right age to
play his character and is a stereotypical
representation of an average male. This
is ideal because, although his is the first
interaction with the protagonist, he has
a minor part and this will be clear to the
audience as he will not appear as
‘someone to watch’. As he is one of my
close friends, I can also rely on him to
give honest feedback on my ideas and
work.
4. Man 2
■ Actor: Stanley Gulliford
■ Young adult
■ Male
■ Chosen because, physically, he looks
older than his age (due to his height and
build) and being Aryan, he could
represent a number of different men,
reinforcing one of my film’s messages
that street harassment is a common
occurrence that isn’t an exaggeration. He
is also an AS Media student and took
BTEC Media studies at GCSE so will be
invaluable in terms of guidance and
advice.
5. Man 3
■ Actor: Matt Holley
■ Young adult
■ Male
■ Chosen because he is able to be
physically imposing due to his height and
also looks older than a teenager, which
makes his role more plausible as an
aggressive harasser considering Lauren’s
age and who she would be intimidated
by. He also has experience performing,
and is also studying AS Level Media so
will be able to offer valuable advice and
criticisms during the filming and post-
production process.
6. Male Students
■ Actors: Max Cheshire (top) and Fraser Dart (bottom)
■ Teenagers
■ Male
■ Chosen because they are the correct age to play
students at a school, fitting with the character
requirements, and they are also friends therefore will be
comfortable and realistic at being involved in a scenario
where the characters are overtly friends with each-
other, hopefully minimising any awkward acting. Both
actors have lots of experience performing and have
confidence, which is required for their parts, therefore I
am happy with their casting and think that they will
perform their roles well.
7. FemaleTeacher
■ Actress: Mandy Hammond
■ Adult
■ Female
■ Chosen because she is of the appropriate
age and also has experience in the role of
a teacher (as it is her occupation) and
therefore will be able to deliver a realistic
performance true to ‘real life’, rather
than speculation from my point of view
as a student. This will enhance the
realism of my piece, which is
fundamental as part of the drama genre
