Can justify the use of images / sound.
Learning objectives (WALT)
All - To look at different types of controls to change the appearance of sprites and add sound to a project.
Identify and Select.
Most –To import different images to use as sprites and add appropriate sound to a project. Review.
Some –To complete the project tutorial and add appropriate images and sounds. Can change the
background to create different effects. Organise and check accuracy. Fit for purpose/audience.
Learning Outcomes (WILF)
All will have used the scratch controls to change the appearance of sprites and used sound in a project.
Most will have imported different images and sounds to use in the scratch project.
Some will have completed the scratch project and changed the background to create different effects.
TIBS:
To improve your sequencing skills so that you can create an interactive project.
Potential Errors and Misconceptions
Using different controls for different ‘Sprites’ can sometimes become confusing. Pupils therefore need to be
reminded to monitor this and not put in extra controls which will out-weigh another.

encouraged to make improvements on the basic
project.

Teaching and Learning Activities
Check uniform as students enter classroom in orderly manner.
(10:00 – 10:05) Bell Activity
5 mins
Pupils will have different pictures to match up with descriptive words. This is to show the
pupils that different images can have different effects.
(10:05 – 10:15) Starter Activity
10 mins
Pupils will be shown a project which has been completed by the teacher. This will include
different images and sounds. The pupils will be asked to state whether the images and
audio used were appropriate and give reasoning as to why. The pupils will be asked to
think about their own projects and the different effects which they can create.
(10:15 – 10:50) Main Activity
35 mins
Pupils will work through the PowerPoint to work on their basic project. This will give the
pupils step by step instructions on how to import images and audio into their projects.
They will be asked to think carefully about the effect they wish to create and record this to
show that they have planned it. If the pupils finish the activity they should evaluate their
work and then move on to the extension activity.
Plenary
(10:50 – 11:00)
10 mins Pupils will be shown a project which contains images and audio that are not consistent with
the project. They will be asked why the images and audio are not ‘fitting’ with the rest of
the project and how they could be improved. They will also be shown the effect of using
different backgrounds in their project.
Students dismissed in an orderly manner.
