1. Vocabulary
romantic comedy: (Rom-Coms) are usually love stories
about 2 people from different worlds, who must overcome
obstacles to be together.
For example: Lars and the Real Girl, Valentine's Day and
Music and Lyrics
period dramas: are serious, and often about people falling in
love or people who have to make a big decision in their life.
They tell stories about relationships between people. They
usually follow a basic plot.
For example: The Chronicles of Narnia, King Arthur and
Legends of the Fall
action: movies have a lot of exciting effects like car chases
and gun fights, involving stuntmen. They usually involve
'goodies' and 'baddies', so war and crime are common
subjects.
For example: G.I. Joe, X-Men and 007 Sky fall
adventure:movies like these usually involve a hero who sets
out on a quest to save the world or loved ones.
For example: Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones and The
Hunger Game
musical: These are entertaining films that are based on full
scale scores or song and dance.
For example: High School Musical, Mama Mia and Fame

2. sci-fi: movies are set in the future or in outer space. Some
use their future or alien settings to ask questions about the
meaning of life or how we should think about life. Science
fiction movies often use special effects to create images of
alien worlds, outer space, alien creatures, and spaceships.
For example: Avatar, Star War and Alien
horror: movies use fear to excite the audience. Music,
lighting and sets are all designed to add to the feeling.
For example: Underworld, Final Destination and Scream

I love watching movie.
I love watching movies. At the cinema, on TV or on my computer.I'm a
big movie fan and love all the news of my favorite movie stars. I like all kinds
of movies - Hollywood blockbusters, black and white movies from the 50s,
independent movies... They're all good. Recently I've got into watching foreign
movies. I like the films that come out of Bollywood - they're very different. The
first film I saw at the movie theatre was Star Wars. I was amazed at the special
effects. Nowadays, so many movies have such good computer graphics that we
forget how special the effects are. One of my favorite ways of relaxing is to rent
the latest DVD and sit on the sofa with a big bag of potato chips. The sound has
to be up to the max and the lights have to be off.
