Family And Family Essay
To a lot of people, having the same blood running through your veins, means a lot. To some it means
that it automatically claims you to be family. Others may think being blood related means you're
more important to them then someone who may not be. But to me, blood has nothing to do with who
you care about and who you consider family. It doesn't shape you as a person and doesn't define who
you are going to be. I am adopted, therefore, most of my family and I do not share the same DNA.
But I have learned that it doesn't matter if you have the same color hair as your mother, or the same
eyes as your father. What matters is the love and the care that people share for you, that's what
makes you family. Just because someone may share the same physical characteristics as you, doesn't
mean you will have the same emotional characteristics. For me, this is something I have had to learn
a lot over time. My biological mother and father weren't the best role models. I was taken away from
them at the age of five and put into foster care. As I was growing up I had this growing fear that I
would be exactly like them. I have younger siblings, and for a lot of my life I've had to look over
them and be their support system. I was constantly worried I was not enough for them, I would
worry that I would let them down. I knew what it felt like to feel like you are alone and to be let
down over and over again by the people that you thought cared the most. And I never wanted my

The Family Of A Family
Introduction
A family is a group of two or more people that are related by blood, marriage (registered), adoption,
step or fostering, and who usually live together in the same household. This includes newly–weds
without children, gay partners, couples with dependants, single mums or dads with children, siblings
living together, and many other variations (What is a family, 2013). A family consists of many
variables that work together to form a system. The main functions of a family are to ensure that
children are satisfactorily socialised into norms and values, to provide economics support for other
family members, to satisfy the emotional love and security in a family and to provide a sense of
place and position in the society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparison, the number of one–parent families increased by 53%, and couple families without
children living with them increased by 33% over the same period. Consequently, over time, couple
families with children are forming a smaller proportion of all families 47% of families in 2001,
down from 54% in 1986.
Shifts in the prevalence of different family types within society can be linked to a range of convivial
and economic trends. In recent decades, trends in divorce and remarriage have contributed to
transmuting numbers of one–parent, step and blended families, just as trends towards delayed
childbearing, incremented childlessness and more preponderant longevity have contributed to an
incrementation in the number of couple only families. Gregarious changes not only affected the
prevalence of different family types, but withal the nature and composition of families. For example,
the nature of couple families has transmuted with the incrementation in de facto partnering. The age
profile of particular family types (such as couples with children) has shifted, as young people
increasingly defer major life events. For example, adolescent adults are remaining in education for
longer, gaining economic independence later in life and composing long–term relationships at older
ages.

Family Marriage And Family
I am learning many things about family, marriage and relationships. God wants us to show
unconditional love towards others as he has showed us. Marriage takes commitment, according to
Balswick & Balswick, (2014) "continued commitment in modern marriage is contingent on
happiness and self–fulfillment. In today's society it seems like convenience is more of a priority than
commitment. We must first be committed to our God who is wholeheartedly committed to us. In
Psalms 37:5 it says to "commit your way to the lord trust in him, and he will act." Marriage is
difficult, but it is easier when we depend on God and not man. Some of the things I will discuss are
family, marriage and what God designed it for. I will also talk about my own experience with
marriage and family. According to Balswick & Balswick (2014, "Marriage is the process whereby a
man and a woman marry and become one, yet maintain their individual distinctiveness," (p. 4). This
is a very sensitive topic for me seeing that I have two failed marriages. When I walked down the
aisle and made that commitment until death do us part I did not realize that it would not be death but
selfishness that pulled us part instead. "God designed marriage to provide, partnerships, spiritual
intimacy and the ability to pursue God," (Heffernan, 2014, p. 7). I now understand what intimacy is
and how important it is in a relationship. Many individuals including myself mistake intimacy as
only being about sex. Balswick (2014)

Family Of Family And Family Essay
Family! Family! Family! Family can be a wonderful thing. It can be healthy or unhealthy. It can be
functional or dysfunctional. Family means different things to different people. Some families are
loving and close. Some families are mean, hateful, and distant. There are different types of
relationships within a family unit. Relationships can be enmeshed, detached, or disengaged; these
types of relationships are unhealthy. The family system can be open and homeostatic; these kinds of
relationship are healthy. We are all born into different families with different situations. Sometimes
life can be hard, with all of its facets and difficulties, and ups and downs. Looking at the past of one
's life can be a happy event for some, but for others, it can be tormenting to have to reminisce about
the past. In this three–generation of family–of–origin, the family structure was the focus. The
research was based on grandparents, parents, and the child who is the student. This paper examined

Family: Family Assessment
Family is a very dynamic topic with many overlapping relationships and variables. This family
assessment will look at the different relationships and roles that one family possesses. Below, I have
explored the health condition of my informant and his family members. I will also be discussing
significant factors that may put this family at risk functionally, structurally, and developmentally.
Lastly, I will be including resources that will help reinforce the positive aspects of this family and
decrease the stressors experienced within each member.
Genogram Assessment As you can see from my attached genogram, the informant's father died at a
fairly young age from a series of cancers starting with prostate, which moved to his thyroid, and

There are very many roles that each person in this family occupies and it is always changing
depending on the developmental stages of the other members. Many members of the family have
been caregivers for the young or the older generations at one time, while still maintaining their own
role of son, wife, or husband. Hence, causing relationships to grow and other relationship to make
sacrifices. Røthing, Merete, Malterud, and Frich study supported the idea that changing roles,
especially for caregiver purposes can hinder relationships between spouses and partners greatly
(Rothing, Merete, Malterud, & Frich, 2013). Also the children in this family have grown and had
their own children and now are experiencing the caregiver roles as

Family And Family Life
50 years ago, a prominent stereotype in America portrayed the men as hardworking breadwinners
while on the opposite side of the spectrum the woman stayed home taking care of the house,
children, cooking and cleaning. In the current generation, a lot has changed, roles have slightly
switched and men and women both have the opportunity to work in the field they desire. These
changes have brought new values and brought forth many obstacles with balancing the family/work
life. Although the stereotype about the father being the one working and the mother staying home
changed significantly over the years, when both parents are working and trying to keep their family
together there are many obstacles that come along. In today's society, many face the complication of
not being able to spend enough time with their children due to work, not being as flexible in
balancing the work life versus family life and having to face the situation of trying to pick between
choosing their child over a dream job.
To begin with, today it is very common that both parents go to work in order to support their family,
but sometimes either mom, dad, or both can be working too much and not realize that they can be
missing out on being a part of their child's life later regretting their pass decisions as their children
grow older. It is very common that some parents put more time into working rather than spending
time with their child and do not realize that it affects their family and their child due to

Family As A Family
Families are composed of mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and even pets. Mothers and fathers
raise you to be the best you can be. At any age, from an infant to an adult, they will always be there
for you. Nevertheless, brothers and sisters will also be there for you when you need them, in good
times or in bad times. Family can help you through the same situations that they faced and make
sure that you make better decisions in life. Pets are a part of your family, too, because they cheer
you up when you're feeling down. They're there to talk things through with and share your
innermost secrets. Everybody is part of a family. A family is there for you when you need them
most. They are with you in the pleasant moments, but more importantly, will stay with you in the
tough times as well.
Mothers and Fathers are a crucial and essential part of family. They are always there to help you
through anything and everything in life. Family isn't merely a connection between blood, but rather
one within the heart. When I was young, in about first grade, I was at school and I started feeling
dizzy and queasy. Therefore, I asked my teacher if I could go to the bathroom and she allowed me to
do so. The next thing I knew, I was throwing up in the bathroom, feeling lonely and scared. Nothing
I had experienced seemed worse than that moment. I went to the nurse, who was just around the
corner, and she examined me and gave me medication to help ease the pain. She found out that I had
a fever,

Family
Family it has so many different definitions and they are different for each person. The dictionary
definition is "a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household" or "all the
descendants of a common ancestor". My definition of family can range from blood relatives to
friends of the family that have been around for some time that are practically already family. I don't
believe family is people that are just blood but those that have had such a deep/ emotional impact on
your life that consider them deeper then friends. Also on the other hand you can have people that are
blood with you but not consider them family because of personal or other reasons.
I have somewhat of an interesting family to fully understand my family situation you have to learn a
little about my parents origins. My mother and father are both from Nigeria, my mother is from the
city Lagos, and my father is from Abuja. Both of them having big families by today's standard. My
father side there is his father jimmy, mother Agnes, then my father, his sister ngozi, other sister
ifeoma, and brother Sunday. Then my mother side there is her mother Ruth, father john, my mother,
first sister Tope, second sister Shola, third sister Bukky, fourth sister Wunmi, then first brother Femi,
and then the last child that's a boy is named lyanu. My father came to America in 1989, and then my

My Family : A Family
From this class I have learned that my family may not be as dysfunctional as I thought. There are
many families out there with crazy combinations of who and what makes up their family. 1/3 of
people who married have also been divorced before and people normally repartner within 3–5 years.
The United States has one of the highest divorce rates, only Russia has a higher rate. My family is
made up of my paternal and maternal biological families, my step father 's family and some of my
step mother 's, along with my adoptive family. I have been adopted on my father 's side twice and
some of their family still consider me family even though I don 't associate with either of my
adoptive father 's anymore.
So being adopted twice I have had three different last names and people still remember me by other
last names not necessarily the one I currently have. Many people do not understand how I can only
have been half adopted or only adopted on my father 's side and always have the same mother.
Explaining my family to someone else has always been hard, but taking this class I know have
learned some of the stats of divorce, repartnering, and remarriage after divorce which has helped
me. I think to be able to explain your family to someone else when it 's as complicated as mine you
need some understanding of family.
My family is broken into two households, my mother 's and my father 's. But for both of the
households the male (my father 's) are the head of the households, they are the

My Family : The Best Family In The Family
Who has the best family in the universe? Some people might say the Obama's because they are
always mentally and physically supporting the family. Others may think that the Dunphy's from
Modern Family since they are different from other families, and even though they have their
differences, they still love their family. Also, some might think that the Tenors from Full House are
the best because they hug all the time even through difficult times. However, I know my family is
the best because of my mother, father, brother, and also my dogs. My mother is one of the biggest
reasons that my family is the best. She makes sacrifices, yet she does not call them that because she
loves doing the tasks she does with us. She sacrifices her free time. She has to take us places like
school, sports, doctors of all sorts and she does not even mind. She also does not have time to
exercise, as much as she would like. Also she loves running, biking, and swimming but she slacks
off that for us. Also, she cares so much about me and my family. If I don't make the grade on the test
that I wanted, she asks me if I tried my hardest then says that no matter what I do she will be proud
of me.. She is always my personal all the time cheerleader. It feels excellent to come home from
having a rotten day and knowing someone will be there to cheer me up. Another way that proves she
is the best mother in the world is that, she would do anything for my whole family. For me, one
massive point is that she

The, Family, And Family Structure
The most fundamental of a family is interaction. The interconnectedness among family members
helps to maintain a family structure. According to McGoldrick (2006), family patterns repeat from
one generation to the next generation. These triangular patterns are impacting functioning,
relationships, and family structure. Looking at the current and historical context of the family, the
genogram illustrated some repetitive patterns in Michelle's family. There were many
intergenerational losses and lack of connections among the family members.
The unresolved mourning could be traced to the generation of David's parents. Starting from the
generation of David's parents, there were a few losses, such as miscarriage or potentially stillbirth. It
is likely that David's parents were grieving over the loss of his brother, therefore David was named
after his elder brother. This might be a form of remembrance or he may be a replacement child of his
elder brother. It is also likely that David's mother; Edith did not have the space to grieve over her
miscarriages that contributed to her having an affair with their best friend, Bob. At the same time, it
is also likely that David's father was sharing the same emotions as Edith. Consequently, when he lost
his children and best friend, he turned to alcohol for coping. Apart from experiencing losses of
siblings at a younger age, David lost his parents and wife when he is a grown up man. His father
passed away due to liver disease

Family Therapy And The Family
Family therapy is essential to working with clients because it helps social workers connect the
patterns within each family. According to Nichols, "family therapy considers how problems may be
a product of the relationships surrounding them" (p. 50). It can help health professionals understand
why there is problematic behavior in family members through the context of the family dynamics
and relationships. Family therapy is how we aid our clients in understanding these relationships, and
how we help them solve and work through the family problems. This paper will discuss, assess, and
provide treatment goals for the Taylor family using the Structural Family Therapy perspective.
Family Intervention Model Structural Family Therapy and Bowen Family Therapy are two useful
intervention models that help families with their problems. However, each model addresses these
problems in a different way. The Structural Family Therapy model looks at the problem through the
relationships within each of the family members and the subsets of the family (Fredricks, 2014).
Structural Family Therapy recognizes that the family may operate according to generic or distinctive
house rules. The point of Structural Family Therapy is to remodel the family system into a healthier
one. Bowen Family Therapy looks at how the family dynamics, values, morals, and relationships are
passed down through each generation, and how it affects the overall family unit (Brown, 1999). It
looks at the multigenerational

Family And My Family
I feel like family is one of the most predominant reasons for my character and choices. I have a large
family with four step–siblings which are 23, 14, 9 (males), and 6 (female); I also have one adopted
brother who is 23, two full brothers who are 17 and 16, and a half sister who is 2 and a half brother
who is 1, therefore, at almost 20 I fall in the middle. However, I did not grow up with all of these
siblings; I grew up as the oldest child and only girl. My mother has been married three times and my
father has been married twice, so, in the midst of all of the marriages is where my family grew.
I had what some people would consider a rough childhood. My parents got divorced when I was
three, and my mom, my two younger brothers, and I all moved an hour and a half away and at that
time I didn't see my biological father very often. My mother got remarried a couple years later to my
step–father. He became an alcoholic and the disease progressed over the years creating more and
more issues which led to us losing our home, not having enough food, and struggling to pay bills.
My mom was always open to me about their problems, the fights, the infidelity, and financial issues.
After almost ten years of this cycle my mom and step–dad separated. It didn't take long for my mom
to start dating again and she dated often. I saw many men come through our lives and it made me
hostile towards her. I vowed to never be like that in my life. Eventually, she did settle back down

Family Is An Definition Of Family
What is a family? The definition of family can be defined in many different ways. According to
Merriam– Webster's definition of family is, "A group of people related to each other" (Merriam–
Webster 1). Although family can be defined as a relative, it can also mean a group of people who
share the qualities of a family, such as caring, loving, and supportive. When playing in a team sport,
it is necessary that all of the teammates share a special bond. During the previous volleyball season,
the team struggled to find a connection between the players because they had never played together
nor were all of them friends outside of volleyball. As the season progressed, the bond between all of

The sister and brother had different views about women in ministry, for she is a minister herself, but
what matters most is that they got past their disagreements to work together for a fellow family
member. They could have just decided to have one of them plan the wedding if they were unable to

through communication, support, and compromise. To add, Some people face similar situations
when they are coming out to their family if they are gay or lesbian. In fact, it has been proven better
for their health. According to an article titled, "Coming Out as Gay Can Have Health Benefits If
Family is Supportive: Study" describes a recent study done by Boston University School of Public
Health about the positive effects of coming out. It reads, "Two thirds of lesbian, gay and bisexual
adults in a representative Massachusetts sample experienced significantly less mental health and
substance abuse problems if they received positive support from their parents after coming out"

Family Families : A Parent Family
One parent family as a household with at least one child and a parent by Online Dictionary. Like
other growing problems, one parent families are an important raising situation in the United States.
Some everyday struggles and disadvantages are experienced by single parents today. Problems such
families have to face can range from expensive day care, economic hardship, hurdles in balancing
both home and work, and ability to spend limited quality time with children and finical difficulties
(Ambert, 2005). The disadvantage for kids in a one parent family is the absence of a mother or
father. Being raised by one parent can have a significant impact on children. I chose the social
problem of one parent families because of it's widespread effects and consequences and that's
rapidly increasing in the United States.
Being a one parent family can be a very emotional process. Different problems and concern may
arise when being a one parent family. Not spending enough time with the children when left alone
without supervision may spend too much time on the internet which could cause the child exposed
to different sights that are restricted. State child care programs help eligible families pay for
childcare while they work, attend school, or receiving training. You have to meet income
requirements, and the child must be under thirteen years of age. Childcare centers will need a
subsidy that would enable mothers to take full–time work (Ambert, 2005). On an average, a single

Family : A Family Is A Part Of A Family
A family is a group of parents and/or children living in a household together. Some people define
family as those related in blood. Some consider non–relatives family. Some claim to have no family.
How do you define family? When you're in kindergarten, most of your teachers start off the year by
asking you to tell them your favorite animals, your favorite color, how many people are in your
family, or how many siblings you have. Being under the age of seven, most answer with "My family
consists of my mom, my dad, my brother, and my sister." When you're asked in middle school, you
might give the same answer. In high school, the answer starts to change, from "I have five in my
family.", to "I have three people in my family.". Things happen, people change, bonds are broken,
and families fall apart. Not all families fall apart in brutal ways, some people just quit talking. The
bond could have been there when you were kids, but since growing into adulthood it could change.
When I was seven, I would tell you my three brothers were my best–friends. I would tell you my
mom was my favorite person. I'd tell you my dad was my hero. Expect, when you're seven, you only
know family, as the people you live with, and the people you share blood with. Families aren't all
connected by blood. I know there is a million people that will fight and argue that blood is thicker
than water until they are blue in the face. But I am one of the people who believe that blood does not
matter. I have

Family, All descendants of a common ancestor. Or at least that's how Merriam Webster's dictionary
puts it. Family doesn't necessarily mean blood or relatives. Just because friends aren't related to you
by blood doesn't mean you can't consider them as family. We all have friends that we've known our
whole life and treat them as they were our own family. Maybe you were the only child who had a
particular friend you considered to be like a sister. Maybe you have an uncle who really isn't your
uncle. Whatever the case is you would do pretty much anything for them. Friends are just family
you choose after all.
For example, I have "cousins" that I'm not related to. Does that make us any less of a family? No.
We care for them as they were our own blood. Just recently we went on a family trip with them to
Austin. According to "Can Close Friends substitute family?" I am not alone on recruiting friends or
non–relatives as family. The author of the article got 305 comments on people who said they also do
this. "Even Today's parents seem to embrace honorary designations" (2014, March 19). Some
examples of designated members are "auntie" or "uncle". The article also says, "Those terms can act
as road markers, showing how everyone fits together.", which makes sense for children. It seems to

Selecting The Family I selected this family through my moms work. She recommended I speak with

Family Matters Family isn't who shares the same blood. Family isn't who you're related to. Family
isn't who birthed you. Family isn't who you share a house with. Family isn't in the blood. Family is
the people who would shed blood for you, no matter what. My dad, he doesn't share the same blood
as me. He wasn't there holding my mother's hand when her emotions were awoken by the sound of
her first born, a girl, being swaddled in blankets and handed over to her embrace. He hasn't lived in
the same house as me for over more than two years, but he is family and I couldn't be more proud to
call him "Dad". I remember all the awful times when my parents were together. Mom worked the
night shift and had to study for college during the day. She didn't have just four kids to take care of

Babysitting became my job while mom cooked, cleaned, studied, and did laundry. I watched Alyssa,
Dalton, and Camden, my three siblings at that time. Mom was great and I truly believed she was a
superhero. I didn't really like Father though. I got used to only getting a few hours of sleep every

how she didn't get all of the laundry done or complain about how awful dinner tasted. I never saw

Healthy Family : A Family
We all came from a type of family, Regardless to our origin or ethnical background, family is a
universal and important aspect in our lives. From birth to adult hood, our family teaches us the
fundament principles of life, what makes us be the person we are today. According to the better
health channel (august 2014) stated that a happy and healthy family have certain traits in common.
In this discussion, I will be elaborating on a family that demonstrated one of the healthy trait while
caring for their lovely mother as well discussing my role as a nurse in this situation.
As a home health nurse, I have the opportunity to interact with my patients and their families on my
daily work. By being able to care for patients in the comfort of their homes, this is a perfect place
for me to study my patients and get adequate information on how their surrounding affects their
healths. I was able to encounter several of those family traits every day. According to Kaakinen et al,
2015. Healthy family's traits are: listening and communicating, affirmation and support, respecting
privacy of one another, exhibition of shared responsibility and maintaining a sense of humor.
As a home health provider, I will be discussing about a family that I have been caring for that has
demonstrated the trait of exhibition of shared responsibility. I once took care of an elderly patient
with dementia who lived by herself in her home. She was admitted to our homecare after being

My Family And The Family
Families have played a crucial role in the formation of civilization since the beginning of time.
Although the definition of what a family consists of has constantly changed and evolved, the main
idea behind the raising and continuation of the human race has always been the primary goal. As
different individuals and groups have risen to power– and fallen from it– there have been different
political and economic shifts that have impacted the ideals behind family. Oftentimes, people would
be highly impacted by such worldly changes and it would create personal problems leading to
emigration as well as other hardships. Mills discusses the way that personal troubles are often
contrasted with public issues even though they typically intertwine or relate in one way or another.
In my family, heritage is something that is extremely important. On my mom's side, one of my great
aunts started a Facebook page dedicated just to posting old pictures with historical context of some
of my late family members. Although they have been deceased for most of, or my entire lifetime, it
is really eye opening to get a brief glimpse into the lives they lead and why they lived that way.
Most of my family is from Indiana currently, but we have ties leading back to the early 1900s in
France. There is no certain date as to when my great–great–great grandfather moved, but we know it
was before 1920 so it can be inferred that perhaps the emigration had to do with political hardship
created when France

The Family Of A Family
There was a family who came to the school as we were leaving out who wanted to see a counselor to
discuss familial issues. We were walking to the car when the attendance keeper ran us down to come
back for a parent. The counselors were all busy with some in meetings, covering classes, etc. Our
student came in upset that morning. The mother, daughter, and cousin wanted to debrief the school
on what happened the night before. The parents are going through finalizing divorce and a custody
battle. They had two children together, our student, and their son, which was the topic of the
meeting. The judge ordered that the son go with the father and the daughter with the husband.
Previously, the mom had the daughter, son, and live in nephew. After the judges' order, the little boy,
still in elementary school, was separated from everyone in the family besides his father. He was the
only child in the house. This is just some of the information gathered from our family meeting
where they vented their concerns.
The mom is allowed only a certain amount of time on the phone and four hours a week of visitation
with her son. They all called the brother the night before and spoke to our student's little brother.
Afterwards, he called trying to get his old cousin, who they say is like a male role model for him. He
was sleep, so he proceeded to call the sister. He told the sister that he wanted to kill himself. Our
student had constant tears flowing during our meeting as we

The Family Of A Family
A father and a mother provide an atmosphere in which to live, grow, and develop. The family
culture is established by the parents and instilled in the children during their upbringing. A healthy
family, is a family that follows a set of strong morals, stays loyal to one another, cooperates, and
works together to avoid household differences. An environment where there is openness amongst
family members is ideal because minds that are open are more liable to preventing any anger that
their adolescents might express. If these challenges get the best of a family, it has the potential to
increase hostility and create remoteness between the adolescents. If a family resolves their
disagreements, it can strengthen, enforce the family relationships and have a positive effect on the
adolescents. Over the past centuries in the United States, the perfect American family was a father
who worked and took care of the finances, a mother who stayed at home taking care of the
household responsibilities, children, and making sure they went to school. This was the great family
structure in the United States. Every family from low, middle, and rich class retained this family
lifestyle structure. Any deviation from this family structure was normally looked down upon and
detested. However, times and social standards have changed dramatically since then. In the book

Notes On Family And Family
family |ˈfam(ə)lē| noun ( pl. families )
1 [ treated as sing. or pl. ] a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household.
Over the years, the term 'family ' has been greatly expanded from the black–and–white dictionary
definition you see above. Although a traditional family is usually thought of as a two people bonded
in marriage and their biological children, this is not always true. Personally, I believe that a family
can be anyone who you love and support, and who loves and supports you equally. They don 't
necessarily have to be blood–related to you or related to you by marriage. Friends can count as
family sometimes as well. A prime example of this in my life is my Uncle Sean. He 's not related to
any of the people in my family– in fact, he 's adopted, so he isn 't blood–related to anyone in his own
family. However, I still consider him to be one of my closest relatives. He is a friend of my parents,
and he grew up with me more than many of my biological uncles and aunts. His son is my cousin,
and he is my uncle, whether or not we 're technically related. There are many different kinds of
families within the society we live in today. There is the traditional family– a man and a woman,
married, with biological children between them. But there are also many different kinds of families–
adoptive families, families with only one parent, families with parents of the same gender, families
with both biological and adoptive children, families in

Family Vs Family
People often think that children are the photocopy of their parents. Biologically, the DNA of a parent
and a child is not exactly the same, but surely half of it is exactly matched. Our appearances and
personalities may be very similar with our parents, but we eventually develop unique characteristics
as we grow older. Such similarities and differences are caused by variation of reasons like
environment, inherited traits, beliefs, values, and even life experiences.
My father raised me in a typical Chinese way. He had taught me some values that I would like to
pass on to my next generation. Good reputation is highly important to our family. Giving your effort
is not just for your own self–worth but to emphasize and adore the family's name. For example, if
one messed up, all of us will be affected. If one accomplished success, all of us get the credit. He
says it is because we are one family who carries the same last name, which I totally agree with him.
He states that family must share a helping hand in times of needs. I remember when my sister and I
had a huge argument, I decided to cut off the string between the two of us. My father reminded me,
a family must stick together no matter how difficult the situation is. He told me, "There is no such
thing as ex–sister." He really made me stop and think deeply about what he said, and he was
absolutely right.
This is another value that learned from my father is good manners. He always reminds me, "Good
manner will open doors that the best education cannot." He told me to start my day with a warm
smile and a friendly greeting, which really works everywhere at any time. The importance of saying
"please," "thank you," and "I'm sorry" makes a big difference to other people's attitude. I was under
the impression of people with the higher degree have a better manners, but I was wrong. My former
co–worker, who has a doctorate degree, always treated us extremely rude. She acted and talked like
she is the best person in the world; and she made us feel like we were stupid and less educated.
However, she did not realize how much employees complained about her attitude. After only few
months, she ended up leaving the company due to no one wanted to work with her anymore.

Family Summary : My Family Of Family
Family Summary The significant caretakers and siblings that a person grows up with, or the first
social group a person belongs to is one's family of origin. This is often a person's biological family
or an adoptive family. My family of origin consists of my father, Jamie, my mother, Lori, and my
brother, Morgan. In the past year, I have also gained a sister–in–law, Katie. These people have had
an influence on how I see myself, others, and society.
Success in my family is an admirable aim for each member. My grandparents and their parents
always strived for success. It is something that has been passed down through generations. In early
elementary school, my brother and I knew my parent's expectations for us. We needed to give a
hundred percent in all that we did, and if we tried our best, the results were acceptable. My parents
pushed us to reach new goals, but never did they scold us for not making the team or not being the
smartest in our class. In my family, failure was quitting early or not putting forth effort.
In my opinion, my brother is the most successful in our family. My parents have accomplished a lot
and have wonderful careers and lives, but I believe my brother pushes himself beyond his initial
goals and works hard to reach his dreams each day. Morgan is currently a senior at Ball State
University. Just in his four years at college, he has started his own business, had several part time
jobs, and an incredible internship that has offered him a job after

Family Incarceration In The Family
The relationship between family members' incarceration, other than grandmothers, and criminality
in a male youth resulted in a greater probability of a boy's arrest (Nichols & Loper, 2012). The
negative effects of incarceration extend beyond the influence of a household member's incarceration
on development can be understood best from a developmental bio ecological model and influenced
by proximal interactions within immediate circumstances such as the home, which originally was
referred to as the microsystem (Nichols & Loper, 2012). The growth is not restricted to the mother–
child relationship and can be influenced by any ongoing relationships within the youth's direct
situation, including any adult living within the home (Nichols & Loper, 2012). Although,
imprisonment can influence the child's exosystem, which includes the larger social context such as
the family's poverty, stress, social support and caregiver characteristics (Nichols & Loper, 2012).
Extended kin such as grandmothers, a higher levels of perceived support were associated with
higher teacher bonding and stronger work orientation in both black and white youths (Nichols &
Loper, 2012).
Children whose parents are incarcerated constitute a growing population within the communities.
An estimated two million children that have a parent who is currently incarcerated and that number
does not include children whose parents have been previously incarcerated and released or those

"Family is the most important thing in the world."
This famous quote by princess Diana always clicks into my mind when I hear the word family..
Families do have to face quarrels and struggles in life but the most important thing is that they have
to face it with full strength and patience. These deep relationships carry lots of baggage and hurt as
well. All the people in this world have to face complexities and conundrums of familial love . It
once happened with me too . Sometimes these problem get into such big issues but sometimes
people get over it because of the close and inseparable bond that exists. No matter what happens
between them , the people in a family never drift apart. I sometimes wonder that there are some
lucky people who are the part of such type of families. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Family Is Family Essay
Family is what you make it. When someone asks you, who is in your family how do you answer?
Do you tell them your mother? Your father? Sisters and Brothers? Do you tell them you don't have
any? Do you say I have family but they are not blood? Do you simply tell them you are alone in the
world? Who and what do you consider family? Family is not a mother that leaves her child with its
grandparents to sell herself to men for drugs. A mother that gives up custody of her children, and
dumps them on other family members to one day not return. A mother that makes her six–year–old
daughter stand on the street corner, and beg for money. A mother that tries to kill her child by
beating her head into a bed frame, until her head looks like hamburger meat. A mother that starves
her child so that she can have her next fix. A mother that cut all ties with her children, until she
needs something.
Family is not a father that rather forget about his daughter. A father that is forced to spend time with
his child. A father that spends all his time with his children from his second wife. A father that works
less than ten miles from his child, but can't even stop by to say hi. A father that drinks too much. A
father that goes twenty years without speaking to his child.
Family is not brothers and sisters that bully you. Siblings that tell you that you are ugly, and kick
you while you are down. Siblings that make fun of the cloths you wear. Siblings that lie to the court,
and take your child

Family As A Family : The Aspects Of My Family
My family is very close and dear to me. We are small in size; but appreciative to how united we are
through the years. I have my mother whose name is Olga just as mine, my oldest brother Bobby and
my youngest step brother Jorge as were bonded by father. We had a rough child hood growing up as
my grandmother by mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when I was 5 years old. We all pitched
in with helping her not get lost or leave the house abruptly as she usually wanted to find escape. The
doctor said she was going to live a few years; but she passed when I was 15 years old. I will always
remember her through all the difficulty she went through with carrying that disease. I also had to
watch my grandfather grieve her lost. My grandfather and I were super close; he was like a father to
me. He had always been the backbone to the family. My grandfather was like a father to me. My
mother was the main provider in the house since she divorced my father in her early twenties. We
were the kids to are family. Therefore now that my brother and I are older we begin to expand are
small family. The highlight of my life is the birth of my nephew. My little Matthew has brought such
a joy to all of us. My nephew has brought such a joy because he is the first baby of are family. He
was born on May 13th, 2015. He was born a day after my grandfather's birthday. Although, He has
not been such a calm baby since birth; he is so very adorable. When my sister–in–law gave birth her
and my brother lived in Texas. Therefore, my nephew was born with a Texan birth certificate which
is pretty neat, "I may say". I was not there for the birth. I shortly went 3 months after to visit in
Killeen, Texas. Then, after my mother and my step–dad went to visit. When my mother returned she
was lit up just to tell me how she felt seeing him. My mother talked about how he was just as
terrible as my oldest brother when he was young. As we began to talk about his behavior we laughed
just thinking about all my older brothers' behavior. My nephew reminds my mother of my brother
when he was younger. I see how my nephew does resemble my brother a lot in behavior. One, my
brother was always crying as a baby; as does Matthew. Secondly, he tends to

My Family As A Family
What is family? Businessman and former Ford president, Lee Iacocca once said, "The only rock I
know that stays steady, the only institution I know that works, is the family." If you stripped away
all the glitz and glamour of your life, what would be left? There is only one answer for me, family.
Whenever life's most challenging moments arise and you are brought to your knees, your family
will be the rock on which you can stand. Family is everything to me and I would not be the man that
I am today without the love and support that my family has unconditionally given to me. I was born
on April 24, 1997 in St. Petersburg, Russia. After left alone in the hospital by my birth parents, they
transferred me to an orphanage where I would grow up for the next two years. On July 7, 1999, my
life was impacted in a way that most people will never understand. The only parents that I have ever
called mother and father adopted my sister and me. Everything changed with that moment of time. I
will never be able to thank my parents enough for the grace and they showed me those many years
ago, but as the result of that faithful day, I would continue to develop into the person that I am today.
Growing up as the baby of the family, I fell into the stereotype that I always got what I want, which
is only partially true. The one thing that I have always known that I have is the love of my siblings.
My older brother has always have been there for me growing up, constantly helping me and

Family And Family Analysis
The institution of a family can be viewed as the backbone of society by having a major role in the
functioning of society. It is considered to have many essential functions like reproduction,
socializing children, providing care and support, regulating sexual relationships, etc. Creating an
infant is the beginning of how a family is significant in the functioning of society. The family then
provides safety and economic stability for the child. The social norms, behaviors, and culture are
then taught and learned by the child through exposure from peers and the environment. As the child
continues to grow, the family is constantly giving the child love and support while the child learns
his or her self–identity. The cycle of socialization, passing along culture, and providing guidance of
self–purpose then continues from generation to generation. Families were essentially the main
economic unit of society, however, that was before industrialization. Depending on the society and
culture, the roles within the family can vary based on gender, class, and race. After industrialization,
it was believed that men were the ones that should earn the money away from the household while
the women took care of their children and house. Margaret L. Andersen and Taylor F. Howard
explains, "Many men are now more engaged in housework and child care than was trust in the past,
although women still provide the vast majority of this labor" (Andersen & Howard, 2014, p.279).
However, women that were

Family And Family Essay

  • 1. Family And Family Essay To a lot of people, having the same blood running through your veins, means a lot. To some it means that it automatically claims you to be family. Others may think being blood related means you're more important to them then someone who may not be. But to me, blood has nothing to do with who you care about and who you consider family. It doesn't shape you as a person and doesn't define who you are going to be. I am adopted, therefore, most of my family and I do not share the same DNA. But I have learned that it doesn't matter if you have the same color hair as your mother, or the same eyes as your father. What matters is the love and the care that people share for you, that's what makes you family. Just because someone may share the same physical characteristics as you, doesn't mean you will have the same emotional characteristics. For me, this is something I have had to learn a lot over time. My biological mother and father weren't the best role models. I was taken away from them at the age of five and put into foster care. As I was growing up I had this growing fear that I would be exactly like them. I have younger siblings, and for a lot of my life I've had to look over them and be their support system. I was constantly worried I was not enough for them, I would worry that I would let them down. I knew what it felt like to feel like you are alone and to be let down over and over again by the people that you thought cared the most. And I never wanted my brothers or ... • 3. The Family Of A Family Introduction A family is a group of two or more people that are related by blood, marriage (registered), adoption, step or fostering, and who usually live together in the same household. This includes newly–weds without children, gay partners, couples with dependants, single mums or dads with children, siblings living together, and many other variations (What is a family, 2013). A family consists of many variables that work together to form a system. The main functions of a family are to ensure that children are satisfactorily socialised into norms and values, to provide economics support for other family members, to satisfy the emotional love and security in a family and to provide a sense of place and position in the society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In comparison, the number of one–parent families increased by 53%, and couple families without children living with them increased by 33% over the same period. Consequently, over time, couple families with children are forming a smaller proportion of all families 47% of families in 2001, down from 54% in 1986. Shifts in the prevalence of different family types within society can be linked to a range of convivial and economic trends. In recent decades, trends in divorce and remarriage have contributed to transmuting numbers of one–parent, step and blended families, just as trends towards delayed childbearing, incremented childlessness and more preponderant longevity have contributed to an incrementation in the number of couple only families. Gregarious changes not only affected the prevalence of different family types, but withal the nature and composition of families. For example, the nature of couple families has transmuted with the incrementation in de facto partnering. The age profile of particular family types (such as couples with children) has shifted, as young people increasingly defer major life events. For example, adolescent adults are remaining in education for longer, gaining economic independence later in life and composing long–term relationships at older ages. The aim of this report is to determine the most significant cause of a family breakdown of the survey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Family Marriage And Family I am learning many things about family, marriage and relationships. God wants us to show unconditional love towards others as he has showed us. Marriage takes commitment, according to Balswick & Balswick, (2014) "continued commitment in modern marriage is contingent on happiness and self–fulfillment. In today's society it seems like convenience is more of a priority than commitment. We must first be committed to our God who is wholeheartedly committed to us. In Psalms 37:5 it says to "commit your way to the lord trust in him, and he will act." Marriage is difficult, but it is easier when we depend on God and not man. Some of the things I will discuss are family, marriage and what God designed it for. I will also talk about my own experience with marriage and family. According to Balswick & Balswick (2014, "Marriage is the process whereby a man and a woman marry and become one, yet maintain their individual distinctiveness," (p. 4). This is a very sensitive topic for me seeing that I have two failed marriages. When I walked down the aisle and made that commitment until death do us part I did not realize that it would not be death but selfishness that pulled us part instead. "God designed marriage to provide, partnerships, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God," (Heffernan, 2014, p. 7). I now understand what intimacy is and how important it is in a relationship. Many individuals including myself mistake intimacy as only being about sex. Balswick (2014) ... • 7. Family Of Family And Family Essay Family! Family! Family! Family can be a wonderful thing. It can be healthy or unhealthy. It can be functional or dysfunctional. Family means different things to different people. Some families are loving and close. Some families are mean, hateful, and distant. There are different types of relationships within a family unit. Relationships can be enmeshed, detached, or disengaged; these types of relationships are unhealthy. The family system can be open and homeostatic; these kinds of relationship are healthy. We are all born into different families with different situations. Sometimes life can be hard, with all of its facets and difficulties, and ups and downs. Looking at the past of one 's life can be a happy event for some, but for others, it can be tormenting to have to reminisce about the past. In this three–generation of family–of–origin, the family structure was the focus. The research was based on grandparents, parents, and the child who is the student. This paper examined the history of the family of origin background. It sought out any common threads that might run through the history of the family. • 9. Family: Family Assessment Family is a very dynamic topic with many overlapping relationships and variables. This family assessment will look at the different relationships and roles that one family possesses. Below, I have explored the health condition of my informant and his family members. I will also be discussing significant factors that may put this family at risk functionally, structurally, and developmentally. Lastly, I will be including resources that will help reinforce the positive aspects of this family and decrease the stressors experienced within each member. Genogram Assessment As you can see from my attached genogram, the informant's father died at a fairly young age from a series of cancers starting with prostate, which moved to his thyroid, and then ... Hence, causing relationships to grow and other relationship to make sacrifices. Røthing, Merete, Malterud, and Frich study supported the idea that changing roles, especially for caregiver purposes can hinder relationships between spouses and partners greatly (Rothing, Merete, Malterud, & Frich, 2013). • 11. Family And Family Life 50 years ago, a prominent stereotype in America portrayed the men as hardworking breadwinners while on the opposite side of the spectrum the woman stayed home taking care of the house, children, cooking and cleaning. In the current generation, a lot has changed, roles have slightly switched and men and women both have the opportunity to work in the field they desire. These changes have brought new values and brought forth many obstacles with balancing the family/work life. Although the stereotype about the father being the one working and the mother staying home changed significantly over the years, when both parents are working and trying to keep their family together there are many obstacles that come along. In today's society, many face the complication of not being able to spend enough time with their children due to work, not being as flexible in balancing the work life versus family life and having to face the situation of trying to pick between choosing their child over a dream job. To begin with, today it is very common that both parents go to work in order to support their family, but sometimes either mom, dad, or both can be working too much and not realize that they can be missing out on being a part of their child's life later regretting their pass decisions as their children grow older. It is very common that some parents put more time into working rather than spending time with their child and do not realize that it affects their family and their child due to ... • 13. Family As A Family Families are composed of mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and even pets. Mothers and fathers raise you to be the best you can be. At any age, from an infant to an adult, they will always be there for you. Nevertheless, brothers and sisters will also be there for you when you need them, in good times or in bad times. Family can help you through the same situations that they faced and make sure that you make better decisions in life. Pets are a part of your family, too, because they cheer you up when you're feeling down. They're there to talk things through with and share your innermost secrets. Everybody is part of a family. A family is there for you when you need them most. They are with you in the pleasant moments, but more importantly, will stay with you in the tough times as well. Mothers and Fathers are a crucial and essential part of family. They are always there to help you through anything and everything in life. Family isn't merely a connection between blood, but rather one within the heart. When I was young, in about first grade, I was at school and I started feeling dizzy and queasy. Therefore, I asked my teacher if I could go to the bathroom and she allowed me to do so. The next thing I knew, I was throwing up in the bathroom, feeling lonely and scared. Nothing I had experienced seemed worse than that moment. I went to the nurse, who was just around the corner, and she examined me and gave me medication to help ease the pain. She found out that I had a fever, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Family : Family And Family Essay Family Family it has so many different definitions and they are different for each person. The dictionary definition is "a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household" or "all the descendants of a common ancestor". My definition of family can range from blood relatives to friends of the family that have been around for some time that are practically already family. I don't believe family is people that are just blood but those that have had such a deep/ emotional impact on your life that consider them deeper then friends. Also on the other hand you can have people that are blood with you but not consider them family because of personal or other reasons. I have somewhat of an interesting family to fully understand my family situation you have to learn a little about my parents origins. My mother and father are both from Nigeria, my mother is from the city Lagos, and my father is from Abuja. Both of them having big families by today's standard. My father side there is his father jimmy, mother Agnes, then my father, his sister ngozi, other sister ifeoma, and brother Sunday. Then my mother side there is her mother Ruth, father john, my mother, first sister Tope, second sister Shola, third sister Bukky, fourth sister Wunmi, then first brother Femi, and then the last child that's a boy is named lyanu. • 17. My Family : A Family From this class I have learned that my family may not be as dysfunctional as I thought. There are many families out there with crazy combinations of who and what makes up their family. 1/3 of people who married have also been divorced before and people normally repartner within 3–5 years. The United States has one of the highest divorce rates, only Russia has a higher rate. My family is made up of my paternal and maternal biological families, my step father 's family and some of my step mother 's, along with my adoptive family. I have been adopted on my father 's side twice and some of their family still consider me family even though I don 't associate with either of my adoptive father 's anymore. So being adopted twice I have had three different last names and people still remember me by other last names not necessarily the one I currently have. Many people do not understand how I can only have been half adopted or only adopted on my father 's side and always have the same mother. Explaining my family to someone else has always been hard, but taking this class I know have learned some of the stats of divorce, repartnering, and remarriage after divorce which has helped me. I think to be able to explain your family to someone else when it 's as complicated as mine you need some understanding of family. My family is broken into two households, my mother 's and my father 's. But for both of the households the male (my father 's) are the head of the households, they are the ... • 19. My Family : The Best Family In The Family Who has the best family in the universe? Some people might say the Obama's because they are always mentally and physically supporting the family. Others may think that the Dunphy's from Modern Family since they are different from other families, and even though they have their differences, they still love their family. Also, some might think that the Tenors from Full House are the best because they hug all the time even through difficult times. However, I know my family is the best because of my mother, father, brother, and also my dogs. My mother is one of the biggest reasons that my family is the best. She makes sacrifices, yet she does not call them that because she loves doing the tasks she does with us. She sacrifices her free time. She has to take us places like school, sports, doctors of all sorts and she does not even mind. She also does not have time to exercise, as much as she would like. Also she loves running, biking, and swimming but she slacks off that for us. Also, she cares so much about me and my family. If I don't make the grade on the test that I wanted, she asks me if I tried my hardest then says that no matter what I do she will be proud of me.. She is always my personal all the time cheerleader. It feels excellent to come home from having a rotten day and knowing someone will be there to cheer me up. Another way that proves she is the best mother in the world is that, she would do anything for my whole family. For me, one massive point is that she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The, Family, And Family Structure The most fundamental of a family is interaction. The interconnectedness among family members helps to maintain a family structure. According to McGoldrick (2006), family patterns repeat from one generation to the next generation. These triangular patterns are impacting functioning, relationships, and family structure. Looking at the current and historical context of the family, the genogram illustrated some repetitive patterns in Michelle's family. There were many intergenerational losses and lack of connections among the family members. The unresolved mourning could be traced to the generation of David's parents. Starting from the generation of David's parents, there were a few losses, such as miscarriage or potentially stillbirth. It is likely that David's parents were grieving over the loss of his brother, therefore David was named after his elder brother. This might be a form of remembrance or he may be a replacement child of his elder brother. It is also likely that David's mother; Edith did not have the space to grieve over her miscarriages that contributed to her having an affair with their best friend, Bob. At the same time, it is also likely that David's father was sharing the same emotions as Edith. Consequently, when he lost his children and best friend, he turned to alcohol for coping. Apart from experiencing losses of siblings at a younger age, David lost his parents and wife when he is a grown up man. His father passed away due to liver disease ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Family Therapy And The Family Family therapy is essential to working with clients because it helps social workers connect the patterns within each family. According to Nichols, "family therapy considers how problems may be a product of the relationships surrounding them" (p. 50). It can help health professionals understand why there is problematic behavior in family members through the context of the family dynamics and relationships. Family therapy is how we aid our clients in understanding these relationships, and how we help them solve and work through the family problems. This paper will discuss, assess, and provide treatment goals for the Taylor family using the Structural Family Therapy perspective. Family Intervention Model Structural Family Therapy and Bowen Family Therapy are two useful intervention models that help families with their problems. However, each model addresses these problems in a different way. The Structural Family Therapy model looks at the problem through the relationships within each of the family members and the subsets of the family (Fredricks, 2014). Structural Family Therapy recognizes that the family may operate according to generic or distinctive house rules. The point of Structural Family Therapy is to remodel the family system into a healthier one. Bowen Family Therapy looks at how the family dynamics, values, morals, and relationships are passed down through each generation, and how it affects the overall family unit (Brown, 1999). It looks at the multigenerational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Family And My Family I feel like family is one of the most predominant reasons for my character and choices. I have a large family with four step–siblings which are 23, 14, 9 (males), and 6 (female); I also have one adopted brother who is 23, two full brothers who are 17 and 16, and a half sister who is 2 and a half brother who is 1, therefore, at almost 20 I fall in the middle. However, I did not grow up with all of these siblings; I grew up as the oldest child and only girl. My mother has been married three times and my father has been married twice, so, in the midst of all of the marriages is where my family grew. I had what some people would consider a rough childhood. My parents got divorced when I was three, and my mom, my two younger brothers, and I all moved an hour and a half away and at that time I didn't see my biological father very often. My mother got remarried a couple years later to my step–father. He became an alcoholic and the disease progressed over the years creating more and more issues which led to us losing our home, not having enough food, and struggling to pay bills. My mom was always open to me about their problems, the fights, the infidelity, and financial issues. After almost ten years of this cycle my mom and step–dad separated. It didn't take long for my mom to start dating again and she dated often. I saw many men come through our lives and it made me hostile towards her. I vowed to never be like that in my life. • 27. Family Is An Definition Of Family What is a family? The definition of family can be defined in many different ways. According to Merriam– Webster's definition of family is, "A group of people related to each other" (Merriam– Webster 1). Although family can be defined as a relative, it can also mean a group of people who share the qualities of a family, such as caring, loving, and supportive. When playing in a team sport, it is necessary that all of the teammates share a special bond. During the previous volleyball season, the team struggled to find a connection between the players because they had never played together nor were all of them friends outside of volleyball. As the season progressed, the bond between all of the players grew despite some challenges. The team ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sister and brother had different views about women in ministry, for she is a minister herself, but what matters most is that they got past their disagreements to work together for a fellow family member. They could have just decided to have one of them plan the wedding if they were unable to come to an agreement, but they got past it. The siblings were able to have a loving relationship through communication, support, and compromise. To add, Some people face similar situations when they are coming out to their family if they are gay or lesbian. In fact, it has been proven better for their health. According to an article titled, "Coming Out as Gay Can Have Health Benefits If Family is Supportive: Study" describes a recent study done by Boston University School of Public Health about the positive effects of coming out. It reads, "Two thirds of lesbian, gay and bisexual adults in a representative Massachusetts sample experienced significantly less mental health and substance abuse problems if they received positive support from their parents after coming out" (The Huffington Post 1). • 29. Families underwent significant shifts in structure over the 20th century. During the time of federation, families often had extended relatives living together. In the years following WW2 nuclear families (A family unit that includes two married parents of opposite genders and their biological or adopted children living in the same residence (Melissa Mayntz, 2012) became most common although this is still the case, diversity in various kinds of family increased during the later parts of the century. During 2001, more than 14.8 million Australians lived with at least one other family member, between 1986 and 2001 the number of families increased by 19%. • 31. Family Families : A Parent Family One parent family as a household with at least one child and a parent by Online Dictionary. Like other growing problems, one parent families are an important raising situation in the United States. Some everyday struggles and disadvantages are experienced by single parents today. Problems such families have to face can range from expensive day care, economic hardship, hurdles in balancing both home and work, and ability to spend limited quality time with children and finical difficulties (Ambert, 2005). The disadvantage for kids in a one parent family is the absence of a mother or father. Being raised by one parent can have a significant impact on children. I chose the social problem of one parent families because of it's widespread effects and consequences and that's rapidly increasing in the United States. Being a one parent family can be a very emotional process. Different problems and concern may arise when being a one parent family. Not spending enough time with the children when left alone without supervision may spend too much time on the internet which could cause the child exposed to different sights that are restricted. State child care programs help eligible families pay for childcare while they work, attend school, or receiving training. You have to meet income requirements, and the child must be under thirteen years of age. Childcare centers will need a subsidy that would enable mothers to take full–time work (Ambert, 2005). • 33. Family : A Family Is A Part Of A Family A family is a group of parents and/or children living in a household together. Some people define family as those related in blood. Some consider non–relatives family. Some claim to have no family. How do you define family? When you're in kindergarten, most of your teachers start off the year by asking you to tell them your favorite animals, your favorite color, how many people are in your family, or how many siblings you have. Being under the age of seven, most answer with "My family consists of my mom, my dad, my brother, and my sister." When you're asked in middle school, you might give the same answer. In high school, the answer starts to change, from "I have five in my family.", to "I have three people in my family.". Things happen, people change, bonds are broken, and families fall apart. Not all families fall apart in brutal ways, some people just quit talking. The bond could have been there when you were kids, but since growing into adulthood it could change. When I was seven, I would tell you my three brothers were my best–friends. I would tell you my mom was my favorite person. I'd tell you my dad was my hero. Expect, when you're seven, you only know family, as the people you live with, and the people you share blood with. Families aren't all connected by blood. I know there is a million people that will fight and argue that blood is thicker than water until they are blue in the face. But I am one of the people who believe that blood does not matter. • 35. Family As A Family Family, All descendants of a common ancestor. Or at least that's how Merriam Webster's dictionary puts it. Family doesn't necessarily mean blood or relatives. Just because friends aren't related to you by blood doesn't mean you can't consider them as family. We all have friends that we've known our whole life and treat them as they were our own family. Maybe you were the only child who had a particular friend you considered to be like a sister. Maybe you have an uncle who really isn't your uncle. Whatever the case is you would do pretty much anything for them. Friends are just family you choose after all. For example, I have "cousins" that I'm not related to. Does that make us any less of a family? No. We care for them as they were our own blood. Just recently we went on a family trip with them to Austin. According to "Can Close Friends substitute family?" I am not alone on recruiting friends or non–relatives as family. The author of the article got 305 comments on people who said they also do this. "Even Today's parents seem to embrace honorary designations" (2014, March 19). Some examples of designated members are "auntie" or "uncle". The article also says, "Those terms can act as road markers, showing how everyone fits together.", which makes sense for children. It seems to help their children tell who they can trust and guide them, which ties into The Joy Luck club. So what is an expert's definition of family?"It's people with a secure attachment to your child,"(2014, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He wasn't there holding my mother's hand when her emotions were awoken by the sound of her first born, a girl, being swaddled in blankets and handed over to her embrace. He hasn't lived in the same house as me for over more than two years, but he is family and I couldn't be more proud to call him "Dad". I remember all the awful times when my parents were together. Mom worked the night shift and had to study for college during the day. She didn't have just four kids to take care of at the same time; it was more like five. Father sat in his red sued chair and watched his seventy–two inch flat screen television closer than he watched my baby sister, Alyssa, crawl on the floor. Babysitting became my job while mom cooked, cleaned, studied, and did laundry. I watched Alyssa, Dalton, and Camden, my three siblings at that time. Mom was great and I truly believed she was a superhero. I didn't really like Father though. • 47. My Family And The Family Families have played a crucial role in the formation of civilization since the beginning of time. Although the definition of what a family consists of has constantly changed and evolved, the main idea behind the raising and continuation of the human race has always been the primary goal. As different individuals and groups have risen to power– and fallen from it– there have been different political and economic shifts that have impacted the ideals behind family. Oftentimes, people would be highly impacted by such worldly changes and it would create personal problems leading to emigration as well as other hardships. Mills discusses the way that personal troubles are often contrasted with public issues even though they typically intertwine or relate in one way or another. In my family, heritage is something that is extremely important. On my mom's side, one of my great aunts started a Facebook page dedicated just to posting old pictures with historical context of some of my late family members. Although they have been deceased for most of, or my entire lifetime, it is really eye opening to get a brief glimpse into the lives they lead and why they lived that way. Most of my family is from Indiana currently, but we have ties leading back to the early 1900s in France. There is no certain date as to when my great–great–great grandfather moved, but we know it was before 1920 so it can be inferred that perhaps the emigration had to do with political hardship created when France ... The mother, daughter, and cousin wanted to debrief the school on what happened the night before. The parents are going through finalizing divorce and a custody battle. They had two children together, our student, and their son, which was the topic of the meeting. The judge ordered that the son go with the father and the daughter with the husband. Previously, the mom had the daughter, son, and live in nephew. After the judges' order, the little boy, still in elementary school, was separated from everyone in the family besides his father. He was the only child in the house. This is just some of the information gathered from our family meeting where they vented their concerns. The mom is allowed only a certain amount of time on the phone and four hours a week of visitation with her son. They all called the brother the night before and spoke to our student's little brother. • 53. The Family Of A Family A father and a mother provide an atmosphere in which to live, grow, and develop. The family culture is established by the parents and instilled in the children during their upbringing. A healthy family, is a family that follows a set of strong morals, stays loyal to one another, cooperates, and works together to avoid household differences. An environment where there is openness amongst family members is ideal because minds that are open are more liable to preventing any anger that their adolescents might express. If these challenges get the best of a family, it has the potential to increase hostility and create remoteness between the adolescents. If a family resolves their disagreements, it can strengthen, enforce the family relationships and have a positive effect on the adolescents. Over the past centuries in the United States, the perfect American family was a father who worked and took care of the finances, a mother who stayed at home taking care of the household responsibilities, children, and making sure they went to school. This was the great family structure in the United States. Every family from low, middle, and rich class retained this family lifestyle structure. Any deviation from this family structure was normally looked down upon and detested. However, times and social standards have changed dramatically since then. • 55. Notes On Family And Family family |ˈfam(ə)lē| noun ( pl. families ) 1 [ treated as sing. or pl. ] a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Over the years, the term 'family ' has been greatly expanded from the black–and–white dictionary definition you see above. Although a traditional family is usually thought of as a two people bonded in marriage and their biological children, this is not always true. Personally, I believe that a family can be anyone who you love and support, and who loves and supports you equally. They don 't necessarily have to be blood–related to you or related to you by marriage. Friends can count as family sometimes as well. A prime example of this in my life is my Uncle Sean. He 's not related to any of the people in my family– in fact, he 's adopted, so he isn 't blood–related to anyone in his own family. However, I still consider him to be one of my closest relatives. He is a friend of my parents, and he grew up with me more than many of my biological uncles and aunts. His son is my cousin, and he is my uncle, whether or not we 're technically related. There are many different kinds of families within the society we live in today. There is the traditional family– a man and a woman, married, with biological children between them. But there are also many different kinds of families– adoptive families, families with only one parent, families with parents of the same gender, families with both biological and adoptive children, families in ... • 57. Family Vs Family People often think that children are the photocopy of their parents. Biologically, the DNA of a parent and a child is not exactly the same, but surely half of it is exactly matched. Our appearances and personalities may be very similar with our parents, but we eventually develop unique characteristics as we grow older. Such similarities and differences are caused by variation of reasons like environment, inherited traits, beliefs, values, and even life experiences. My father raised me in a typical Chinese way. He had taught me some values that I would like to pass on to my next generation. Good reputation is highly important to our family. Giving your effort is not just for your own self–worth but to emphasize and adore the family's name. For example, if one messed up, all of us will be affected. If one accomplished success, all of us get the credit. He says it is because we are one family who carries the same last name, which I totally agree with him. He states that family must share a helping hand in times of needs. I remember when my sister and I had a huge argument, I decided to cut off the string between the two of us. My father reminded me, a family must stick together no matter how difficult the situation is. He told me, "There is no such thing as ex–sister." He really made me stop and think deeply about what he said, and he was absolutely right. This is another value that learned from my father is good manners. He always reminds me, "Good manner will open doors that the best education cannot." He told me to start my day with a warm smile and a friendly greeting, which really works everywhere at any time. The importance of saying "please," "thank you," and "I'm sorry" makes a big difference to other people's attitude. I was under the impression of people with the higher degree have a better manners, but I was wrong. My former co–worker, who has a doctorate degree, always treated us extremely rude. She acted and talked like she is the best person in the world; and she made us feel like we were stupid and less educated. However, she did not realize how much employees complained about her attitude. After only few months, she ended up leaving the company due to no one wanted to work with her anymore. ... The negative effects of incarceration extend beyond the influence of a household member's incarceration on development can be understood best from a developmental bio ecological model and influenced by proximal interactions within immediate circumstances such as the home, which originally was referred to as the microsystem (Nichols & Loper, 2012). The growth is not restricted to the mother– child relationship and can be influenced by any ongoing relationships within the youth's direct situation, including any adult living within the home (Nichols & Loper, 2012). • 73. Family As A Family : The Aspects Of My Family My family is very close and dear to me. We are small in size; but appreciative to how united we are through the years. I have my mother whose name is Olga just as mine, my oldest brother Bobby and my youngest step brother Jorge as were bonded by father. We had a rough child hood growing up as my grandmother by mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when I was 5 years old. We all pitched in with helping her not get lost or leave the house abruptly as she usually wanted to find escape. The doctor said she was going to live a few years; but she passed when I was 15 years old. I will always remember her through all the difficulty she went through with carrying that disease. I also had to watch my grandfather grieve her lost. My grandfather and I were super close; he was like a father to me. He had always been the backbone to the family. My grandfather was like a father to me. My mother was the main provider in the house since she divorced my father in her early twenties. We were the kids to are family. Therefore now that my brother and I are older we begin to expand are small family. The highlight of my life is the birth of my nephew. My little Matthew has brought such a joy to all of us. My nephew has brought such a joy because he is the first baby of are family. He was born on May 13th, 2015. He was born a day after my grandfather's birthday. Although, He has not been such a calm baby since birth; he is so very adorable. When my sister–in–law gave birth her and my brother lived in Texas. Therefore, my nephew was born with a Texan birth certificate which is pretty neat, "I may say". I was not there for the birth. I shortly went 3 months after to visit in Killeen, Texas. Then, after my mother and my step–dad went to visit. When my mother returned she was lit up just to tell me how she felt seeing him. My mother talked about how he was just as terrible as my oldest brother when he was young. As we began to talk about his behavior we laughed just thinking about all my older brothers' behavior. My nephew reminds my mother of my brother when he was younger. I see how my nephew does resemble my brother a lot in behavior. One, my brother was always crying as a baby; as does Matthew. Secondly, he tends to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. My Family As A Family What is family? Businessman and former Ford president, Lee Iacocca once said, "The only rock I know that stays steady, the only institution I know that works, is the family." If you stripped away all the glitz and glamour of your life, what would be left? There is only one answer for me, family. Whenever life's most challenging moments arise and you are brought to your knees, your family will be the rock on which you can stand. Family is everything to me and I would not be the man that I am today without the love and support that my family has unconditionally given to me. I was born on April 24, 1997 in St. Petersburg, Russia. After left alone in the hospital by my birth parents, they transferred me to an orphanage where I would grow up for the next two years. On July 7, 1999, my life was impacted in a way that most people will never understand. The only parents that I have ever called mother and father adopted my sister and me. Everything changed with that moment of time. I will never be able to thank my parents enough for the grace and they showed me those many years ago, but as the result of that faithful day, I would continue to develop into the person that I am today. Growing up as the baby of the family, I fell into the stereotype that I always got what I want, which is only partially true. The one thing that I have always known that I have is the love of my siblings. My older brother has always have been there for me growing up, constantly helping me and ... • 77. Family And Family Analysis The institution of a family can be viewed as the backbone of society by having a major role in the functioning of society. It is considered to have many essential functions like reproduction, socializing children, providing care and support, regulating sexual relationships, etc. Creating an infant is the beginning of how a family is significant in the functioning of society. The family then provides safety and economic stability for the child. The social norms, behaviors, and culture are then taught and learned by the child through exposure from peers and the environment. As the child continues to grow, the family is constantly giving the child love and support while the child learns his or her self–identity. The cycle of socialization, passing along culture, and providing guidance of self–purpose then continues from generation to generation. Families were essentially the main economic unit of society, however, that was before industrialization. Depending on the society and culture, the roles within the family can vary based on gender, class, and race. After industrialization, it was believed that men were the ones that should earn the money away from the household while the women took care of their children and house. Margaret L. Andersen and Taylor F. Howard explains, "Many men are now more engaged in housework and child care than was trust in the past, although women still provide the vast majority of this labor" (Andersen & Howard, 2014, p.279). However, women that were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
