The story line, gathered from the image, seems to be that the man has this fragrance
and it attracted and lead him to a beautiful woman who is Scarlett Johnson, therefore
by spraying the fragrance his life was changed, as he looks intensely at her as she is in
his arms, smiling into the distance. The story line behind the image isn’t realistic as
the female in the image is Scarlett Johnson, however the image is, other than the fact
they are actors, there is no over exaggerated editing on the image, other than the
fragrance and text, the image seems pure, the fact it is black and white makes it seem
as if it is old fashioned as there is no colour in the image, other than the fragrance
bottle which makes it stand out and be bold.
The layout of the poster is simple and quite plain, it seems to be straight to the point,
with just one caption, and the fragrance, on top of an image. The font does not over
take the image however, this has been proposed so the image is always the main
attraction.
Where the focus is directly on the models, there is nothing in the background to
highlight the location, this can create a mysterious atmosphere as the location isn’t
clear. The male is dressed in a suit, which can symbolise wealth or that he is at a high
class event, it is hard to see what the female is wearing due to the type of the camera
angle.
Scarlett Johnson is on the front cover to possibly attract the attention of males, her
name is in an extremely small font in the bottom right hand corner, under the
fragrance, and therefore the audience would possibly have to identify her before
seeing the text. She seems to be the main focus of the shot as her whole face is in it
and clear, she smiles indicating she is happy, it can also symbolise that the fragrance
makes her happy. She is simply represented, as her face and top of her shoulder is
the only thing illustrated in the picture.
The use of having Scarlett Johnson over any other female star could be to attract the
target audience, as she is 32, her target audience would be an older age audience, and
not a young one, for example by having Kendall Jenner on the front cover can attract
a younger male audience.
