This document discusses common illnesses transmitted by mosquitoes in Colombia, including the Chicungunya and Zika viruses. The Chicungunya virus causes fever, joint pain, headache, and muscle pain symptoms and is transmitted similarly to Dengue Fever. Zika virus causes mild symptoms like fever, red eyes, headache, joint pain, and rash, and is usually mild and brief but can cause microcephaly in babies if mothers are infected during pregnancy. Both viruses have no vaccines and are transmitted via mosquito bites.
