Significance And Significance Of Onrust Island
Introduction Onrust Island is one of the islands located in Jakarta Bay, along with Cipir Island, Kelor
Island, and Bidadari Island, all four are parts of Onrust Island Archaeological Park. Onrust Island
measured of a 120000 m², although the size is relatively small, Onrust Island is rich in archaeological
remains. The archaeological remains are varied, ranging from 17th to 20th century. Those are the
evidence of the long history of Onrust Island. The early notes on Onrust Island appeared in 1610 when
the VOC (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie) requested approval from Prince of Jayakarta to utilize
Onrust Island for shipbuilding purposes. Subsequently, in 1615 a shipyard was build in Onrust Island

Positive Influences Of The Internet Essay
In 1983, an invention was introduced that would shape the future of American society and interactions
around the world. The society would begin to be centered around technology and shift online. A
plethora of advantages and societal changes has sparked negative thoughts about how the internet has
changed our lives. The ability for our computers to communicate has left us as easy targets for hackers
and has sucked the American youth into a zombie like state into their phones. Many worry the internet
is degrading our culture. When referring to the invention of writing and reading, Plato denounced
writing as inhuman and warned that writing weakened the mind and that it threatened to destroy
people s memory (Furedi). People are often scared of new innovations because they are aware of its
potential to revolutionize their culture. Adjusting to unfamiliar concepts and innovations can be
uncomfortable and difficult for most people. Similarly, modern day sceptics look at the internet in a
negative light because of its rapidly increasing impact on our society. What most tend to forget is the
positive influences of the internet. The increased interconnection brought by the internet has led to a
society that values productivity, rapid production of ideas, and social awareness.
The idea of the internet first appeared in August of 1962 from J.C.R. Licklider, a professor at MIT. He
came up with a concept called Galactic Network , an idea that envisioned a network of computers

The Impact Of Stress And Strain On Relationships
Connections require work and will undoubtedly confront challenges vast and little. Basic, regular
stressors can strain a cozy relationship, and significant wellsprings of stress may undermine the
soundness of the relationship. For whatever length of time that each accomplice will address the
current issue and take an interest in building up an answer, most relationship issues are reasonable,
however when challenges are left unaddressed, pressure mounts, poor propensities create, and the
wellbeing and life span of the relationship are in peril.
The Impact of Stress and Strain on Relationships
Strain can be set on a relationship when upsetting conditions influence the couple all in all, or even
only one of the accomplices. Perpetual disease of one individual, for instance, can affect the prosperity
of both accomplices. Many couples battle with imparting viably and feeling that they are heard by
their accomplices, and additionally contrasts in child rearing, political perspectives, or desires.
Extreme stressors incorporate treachery, terminal disease of one accomplice, and genuine emotional
well being issues. Hatred, disdain, and an expansion in the recurrence of contentions have a tendency
to be indications of basic issues that have been left unaddressed.
Some regular relationship concerns incorporate money related troubles, hindrances to correspondence,
routine clash, enthusiastic separation, sexual closeness issues, and absence of trust. Once in a while,
marriage itself

and racism was still a way of life. Due to a court order, three high schools in Alexandria, Virginia were
forced to integrate their students and faculty for the first time. Consequently, Coach Bill Yoast, a
prominent, white member of the community and longtime head coach of the T.C. Williams High

intentionally by a white player on the opposing team. Sunshine knew that it was on purpose so he told
one of his blockers to go ahead and let him through. After he threw the pass, he table topped the guy
coming at him that had just hurt Reggie in the previous play. That was an example of unity at its

Haydn Farewell Symphony Essay
Since the early 19th century, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven have been venerated as the first of the
three Viennese classics. Franz Joseph Haydn (1732 1809) was an Austrian composer who began his
career in the traditional patronage system of the late Austrian Baroque and ended as a free artist within
the burgeoning Romanticism of the early 19th century. He was one of the most celebrated composers
of his time and a culture hero throughout Europe. He is familiarly known as the father of the
symphony . Beethoven (1770 1827) was a German composer and a pupil of Haydn s. His early
achievements show him extending the Viennese classical tradition inherited from Haydn and Mozart
but his later work was composed in an increasingly individual musical style. ... Show more content on

As the father of the four movement form of the classical period, is was no surprise that his Farewell
Symphony included the Allegro assai, Adagio, menuet and trio, and the finale Presto movements. The
symphony has an unusual and complex tonal scheme, involving three different structural tonics, F
sharp minor, A major, and F sharp major; the double finale incorporates all three. The F sharp minor
projects something inherently unstable which demands, and receives resolution by the tonic major,
which is gradual, complex and a systematic change from instability to stability. This process involves
all aspects of the music including tonality, rhythm, form, instrumentation, dynamics and psychological
content. Beethoven also uses a four movement form but includes Allegro, Scherzo, Adagio and Presto
Allegro. The formal structure of the movements, while generally adhering to the Classical models,
charted new territory. The first movement, although in Classical sonata form, confounds listeners first
by rising to a fortissimo climax in the harmonically unstable exposition section and then by delaying a
return to the home key. The scherzo is placed as the second movement, rather than the customary
third, and the third movement is a mostly restful, almost prayerful adagio. The last movement builds
from a gentle beginning into a brazen finale, while recalling some of the themes from earlier
movements and once the Ode

One common expense that goes along with selling a home is paying real estate commissions. While
real estate commission rates are hardly set in stone , they average is 6 percent of the sales price in a
typical sale. However, many sellers in a down market will try to maximize their net profit and
negotiate commission down with an agent. In fact, I know many agents willing to reduce commissions
down to 4 percent, giving a buyer s agent the standard 3 percent and taking only 1 percent for
themselves. Yet, in all of my conversations with seller and with agents, reducing commissions can

I had spent about a year researching various places to move and I identified Gainesville as a great
place, a conclusion also reached by Money Magazine in 1995. One of the reasons I thought
Gainesville would be a good move was the low cost of housing. My first purchase was a mobile home,
on a one acre lot, in a nearby city. That worked out very well. The seller s agent made a mistake at
closing that saved me $2,500 on what was supposed to be a $28,000 transaction. The mortgage was
five years and paid off on time. I still own the lot though the mobile home is no longer there. A couple
of years later I bought my first house in Gainesville. I grew up in New York City. Half a million
dollars would not buy the attached house with the postage stamp sized backyard I grew up in. I also
lived in Boston in the 1980s, where $250,000 would buy a large, though very chic walk in closet. My
first house in Gainesville was on the city line and cost me $40,000 in a private, owner financed sale. It
came without an A/C system but a small window unit made up for that. It sat on a 1/4 acre lot,
virtually unheard of now in Boston or New York. I paid 10% down and got a 30 year mortgage at a
very acceptable rate of 6.5%. Over the next couple of years I bought, and still own, three more houses
in the same way. Two are on the same block as my original house and one is on the next block. In
1998 few people thought any of the houses would ever sell

Essay Assignment:: A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness by Terry Tempest
Williams
Terry Tempest William s written essay, A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness,
delivers to us, with intended purpose using shocking truths of greed and destruction. Actions took
under the cloak and disguise of the needs of civilization, creating more jobs, or even to boost the rich
man s governmental legacy of our badly raped and abused national economy. How continued acts of
greed and wanton disregard for the environment, are endangering nature the wilderness areas we have
sought to protect? Acts that leave behind damage and destruction where once nature and wilderness
thrived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We capture, contain, and control the very wildness of these animals, we so admire them for. We
decorate a large bucket of water, or a box of bars to resemble a shallow shadow of the wilderness they
should be in. These animals held captive in collective groups as a means to entertain us. We are
trading the wonder of nature, seen in it s own wilderness area for animal showmanship and
entertainment. Losing the remarkable sensations of hope and renewal we experience, as we stand in a
wilderness land, quietly observing animals and nature in the wildly beautiful and raw lands. The
absence of our own lack of realization that nature and the wild places we call the wilderness are under
attack. They are in danger of being beyond repair. It overwhelms the senses, and is not to be tolerated.
That is the message William s words left echoing in my mind. Invisible seeds, deep in my awakening
imagination. William s words, written with her pen, that acts not as a pen, but more like a sword
striking out against environmental injustices. Clever words, delivered with careful and planned
precision. Crafted to alert, outrage and then inspire in each of us. To become environmentally and
socially responsible. She is more skillful than you realize at first. She

Essay On American Sign Language
I first learned American Sign Language through a TV show. It was one of the shows that were
trending lately, just like the current Stranger Things and Thirteen Reasons Why. I was a bandwagoner
so I would always watch all the shows that were talked about. Switched At Birth educated me so much
about ASL, deafness, and more. Because of this show, I have wanted to learn sign language more than
ever. More than just learning a language, I wanted to know what experiences accompany a hearing
person beginning to learning ASL but mostly how does a deaf person feel throughout their day?
American Sign Language, or more commonly known as ASL, was founded more than 200 thousand
years ago from different sign languages around the time. ASL, as suggested by its name, is not a
universal sign language. If you were to go to and any other country, a person might be at a loss when
the signs do not match up. Most people assume that sign language comes from just the hands, but
everyday speakers add facial expression and some movement of their body. ASL requires a hearing
person to do things very differently than how they normally act. For instance, when signing to a deaf
or hard of hearing a person, one needs to face ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

signs for family and animals. At first, there were a lot of signs given to us, then the teacher, Jai, slowly
point to each individual person and randomly choose a word for the person to sign from the
whiteboard. After that, we got into groups of two in order to find more about our partners only through
signing. This was very interesting because at the end, Jai made all of us talk about our partners
through signing, which I thought was a very interesting and effective way to teach the

Happy Milk Lab
Do Happy Cows Make Better Milk?: Analysis of the Chemical Components of Milk The main goal of
this lab was to correctly separate milk into its major components. Other objectives included:
performing basic qualitative tests to confirm correct separation, identifying the major components of
milk, and assigning polar and non polar properties to components of milk. The goal of separating the
components of milk was desirable because their differences in properties required different techniques
to separate them. The casein, Vitamins A, D, and E, and fats were all nonpolar and therefore dissolved
in nonpolar solutions.1 Whey, lactose, calcium, phosphate, vitamin B, vitamin C, and water were all
polar and therefore dissolved in polar solutions.1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protein was unraveled as disruptions occurred in the protein s secondary and tertiary structures.2
The result of denaturation was solid whey protein. The lactose, calcium, phosphate, and water were
unaffected by the heating process and remained liquid. In the third separation, ethyl acetate was added
to dissolve the fats mixed with the casein. Casein, unable to dissolve in the nonpolar solution,
remained a white solid.1 The ethyl acetate, with a lower boiling point than the fat, was boiled off,
leaving a yellow liquid containing fat and various fat soluble vitamins. Vitamin A caused the liquid to
be yellow, which confirmed the presence of vitamins. The residue was added to water, where it proved
to be insoluble in water. This indicated that the residue contained fat, because fat was the only
nonpolar liquid remaining at the end of the separations. The tests for carbohydrates, lactose, calcium,
and phosphates performed on the liquid portion from the second separation were all positive. This was
expected, so no errors were made in the first or second separation. The tests for proteins performed on
the solids produced from the separation were both positive, so no errors were made in the separations
that isolated casein and whey. The test for proteins performed on the liquid portion from the second
separation was negative. This was expected because it meant that all of the whey was removed from
this portion in the denaturing

adoption of the CRD is evidence on shifting from a minimal harmonization of consumer protection

It worth mentioning that, although the CRD s rules necessarily apply to all sale contracts between

MACRO ECONOMICS ASSIGNMENT TOPIC: NATIONAL INCOME ACCOUNTING IN INDIA
WITH REFERENCE TO THE YEAR 2010 2011 What is NATIONAL INCOME? The concept of
National Income is worth elaborating as it is the index of economic development. Innumerable
varieties of goods are produced in an economy in a year. These goods or output are expressed in
monetary terms. The aggregate of monetary values of all verities of goods produced in a country

The expenditure method cannot be used where markets are unorganised. The production method
cannot also be used for unorganised sectors such as small scale industries, trade and transport, and so
on. Different methods are used to measure the income genera ted by various sectors of the economy.
For calculating national income, the Indian economy is divided into 14 broad sectors, which are then
grouped into three main categories : A, B and C. Agriculture, forestry and logging, fishing, mining and
quarrying, registered manufacturing and construction are included in category A. The production
method is applied to category A. The value added by this category is found by subtracting the value of
raw materials and other inputs from the aggregate of commodity wise output. Electricity, railways, air
transport, water and organised transport, communications, banking and insurance, real estate, public
administration and defence are included in category B. For category B, the income method is applied
and, for this, all the types of factor incomes which are reported in the annual accounts of various
organisations are aggregated. In category C, gas and water supply, unorganised roads and water
transport, storage, trade, hotels and restaurants, ownership of dwelling and other services are included.
For this category, sample surveys are done periodically to find out the average productivity of labour.

The Importance Of Character Development In Great...
People are selfish creatures who generally view others in a limited, self serving manner; only forming
an opinion on another s identity in relation to their own. In the novel Great Expectations by Charles
Dickens, the protagonist Pip s character development is entirely due to the way he views those close to
him and his need for self improvement in response to these views. As Pip matures, he looks to the
world around him and more importantly to the people around him to form his desires and ambitions.
The novel illustrates the dangers of both ambition and idealism and provides a brilliant commentary
on social conformity. Although Pip does grow to place genuine value on those close to him later in
life, he reflects on his former aspirations and selfishness in his youth that caused much turmoil in his
life. Despite Pip s brother in law, Joe Gargery, beginning as a personal hero that Pip initially likens to
a sort of Hercules in strength (7), Pip later grows ashamed of him. Joe s character basically remains
unchanged throughout the novel and primarily acts as a symbol of Pip s personal growth (or lack
thereof). Joe is described as a kind and honest blacksmith with little financial success, and he
represents Pip s modest beginnings and true background which Pip wishes to leave in the past as he
begins to seek out a great fortune. Biddy, who eventually ends up marrying Joe, is also a reminder of
Pip s poor beginnings and acts as a foil to the character Estella because she

Essay on The Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States of America. Lincoln was born on
February 12, 1809, and died on April 15, 1865. As a young child, Abraham lived in a log cabin in
Illinois. Around the age of twelve he began working, wielding an ax, building fences, and cutting

masse made the French army the largest in Europe and also the easiest to keep up to strength. (
Napoleon and the Revolution in war Peter Paret. Makers of Modern Strategy from Machiavelli to the
nuclear age (1986) page 126). In the century that followed, statesman and military leaders were of the
mindset that total war was the way to achieve decisive victories.
This total war way of thinking led to many conflicts which included World War I and World War II, as
well as many other high intensity conflicts, prior to and in between the world wars. After ... Show

Super powers, as well as most of the developed world, believed the planet was continually on the
verge of nuclear Armageddon, but the Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union. This
collapse left the United States as the sole super power and in the role of the world police. Since the
United States was left as the most powerful country in the world, it assumed the responsibility of de
escalating conflicts and promoting global peace and security: a role the United States continues to play
in order to maintain access and to protect its global interests. As the world was learning the rules of
post Cold War warfare, events took a sharp turn into asymmetric warfare, a type of warfare we have
been engaged in since the mid 2000s, and a type of warfare that continues to challenge the free world
today. With adversaries closing the gap in technology and engaging non state actors, these parameters
are definitely contributing towards limited war. Also, in this age of information and technology, it
would be difficult to gain public support for a total war since it would constitute unnecessary
destruction and needless loss of life. Instead, adversaries engage in cyber war with the aim of
crippling and delaying technological advances as well as disrupting services for the

Measurable should measure whether you are meeting the objectives or not.
Achievable are the objectives you set achievable?
Realistic can you realistically achieve the objectives with the resources you have?
Time bound when do you want to achieve the set objectives?
These objectives are specific as they explain exactly what the company expects from their employees,
how they should treat their employees and customers and how the retailer should take into account
environmental factors when dealing with products/services etc. They are not so much measurable as
they do not imply whether they have achieved these objectives or not. They are achievable because
they are straight forward. They are realistic and using the correct resources they can be met. They are
not so much time bound as they do not state exactly when they wish to achieve these objectives by but
you can tell they will be ongoing objectives that they constantly wish to achieve in the future.
Formal Structure of the Organisation
Topshop has very few layers of management in the High Street Store in Buchanan Street; this is
known as a flat structure:

The Most Important Aspect Of My Job
As a primary care physician, you are responsible for a great number of patients with all types of issues
from diabetes to hearing loss. As an interventional audiology, my job is to help both patients and
physicians with identification of at risk patients with hearing loss and/or comorbid conditions that can
affect or be affected by hearing loss. By allowing my practice to assist you with these types of
patients, we can work together to identify, create best possible treatment options in order to ensure
these patients have a long and prosperous life. As a result of allowing my office to screen these
individuals for you, I can help boost your bottom line in terms of your practice. The most important
aspect of my job is to help patients improve (i.e. the growing number of baby boomers) their quality
of life. Patients with comorbid and multimorbid conditions are at greater risk for hearing loss and
secondary complications which over the long term can lead to an excessive amount of money spent on
healthcare that could have been reduced in the initial stages of the disease(s) by properly identifying
and remediating these patients. I understand that by being in an Accountable Care Organization, you
must reduce the costs of healthcare while being more accountable for your patients and the quality of
services they receive. One way that this can be accomplished is by allowing my practice to help screen
your patients who may have hearing losses (even mild ones) at earlier ages

Literature Review On Pathological Gambling
Literature Review
American Psychiatric Association (2000) defines pathological gambling as a chronic and progressive
failure to resist to impulses to gamble, and gambling behavior that compromises disrupts, or damages

not synonymous for psychiatrists, compulsion is a behavior that is involuntary and in gambling does
not occur until quite late in the problem gambler s career professionals and lay persons use them
interchangeably (Lesieur, 1992). Gambling involves the staking of an item of value on an outcome
that is governed by chance, and comprises a wide range of commercial activities, including lotteries,

Critical Analysis Of Max Weber s Theory
Sociology of Max Weber This essay is a critical analysis of the theories given by Max Weber of
leadership, religion and rationalization.
Just like Marx, Max Weber is a German sociologist and philosopher and his ideas have always
influenced the society in many ways. He is referred to as one of the founding fathers of modern
sociology. He has given many ground breaking theories like theory of bureaucracy and theory of
social class. His theories are important because he helped us to understand the nature of society. He
disagreed with the Marxian understanding of class and Auguste Comte s theory of positivism.
Weber talked about a German term Verstehen which is basically a concept of understanding in regard
of social sciences. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This authority rests on the appeal of the leader. At the same time this form of authority has its own
drawbacks. It is unstable and it deteriorates if the leader is unable to bring about the changes he
promised to bring. This is what we concluded from the case study by Rakesh Khurana as well. John
McCoy, the CEO of Bank One was a very charismatic leader. He brought about a huge change in the
Bank s financial and economic position. His attitude helped the bank to expand and take over First
Chicago. But as and when McCoy s attitude changed, people saw a change in the services of Bank
One which had started faltering. His laid back attitude finally led to his removal from the post of CEO
by his own board of members.
Rational legal authority is the authority is the authority leaders attain on the basis of various rules

Obedience is not given to any leader or tradition, but to legally passed laws. Examples of this form of

Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow vs. The...
When we compare Washington Irving s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to the 1980 television movie
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow starring Meg Foster, Dick Butkus, and Jeff Goldblum, we find that
while there are several similarities between the two, there are also some key differences. When we
look at various characters as well as the storyline, we see those similarities and differences.
Washington Irving s depiction of Katrina Van Tassel is that she was a little of a coquette and liked to
mix older and modern fashions she wore the...stomacher of the older time; and withal a provokingly
short petticoat, to display the prettiest foot and ankle (Irving 325) because they accentuated her best
features. Add in her beauty a blooming lass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After he expresses his sorrow again, her reply is, Indeed you were, sir (6:56 7:09). She also made sure
that when she was leaving, after Ichabod learned who she is, that her father (who hired him) could fire
him just as fast (7:21 7:25). An example of her coquettishness is when she ponders the possibility for a
girl to have two suitors; and she is called selfish and greedy by another character because the person
that already has the best man in the county wrapped around her finger like a wedding ring shouldn t be
making google eyes at other men (46:16 46:33); this goes to show a similarity to the written story.
During the course of the movie, however, she becomes increasingly interested in Ichabod; she tells
another character that she wants a gentle man, an educated man, a quiet man (48:12 48:19). She is in
love with Ichabod, which is a contrast to the movie. The ending of their story in the movie is also not
the same as the written story; we assume they live happily ever after. Moving from Katrina to her
biggest suitor (in every sense of the word), we find that Irving s representation of Abraham Brom Van
Brunt, otherwise known as Brom Bones, can be summed up in Irving s own words. His physical
appearance, his Herculean frame and great powers of limb (Irving 327), caused Brom to be the object
of awe, admiration, and good will by the people of Sleepy Hollow (Irving 328). Brom was generally
considered a mixture of entertainment

Dell s Buyout
Dell s Buyout
Dell has always been one of the largest PC makers in the United States. Recently, though its share of
the PC industry has been declining. It went from the number one low cost provider of PCs in the
world to number 3. Its inability to adapt to the new markets that have emerged has caused the
company to fall behind other hi tech companies such as IBM, Apple, and even HP. I feel this is an
important topic because it is an example of a large company that has lost touch with what consumers
want and is currently trying to restructure itself in order to gain back the dominance they once had.
Consequently, Michael Dell has announced his decision to attempt a leverage buyout in order to retain

view point of the New York Times which doesn t necessarily take a side with the shareholders or
Michael Dell, but rather analyzes the effect this move might have on the hi tech market and the
probability of Dell Inc. seeing growth in the long run and continuing to compete with larger hi tech

My Career As A Career Autobiography
A career autobiography has to probably be one of the most interesting and thoughtful essays I ve had
to write so far. I am seventeen years old and am attending my first semester in college. I look forward
to getting good grades, opening my mind to new things, and eventually graduating college. However, I
have absolutely no idea what I want to be doing in the future. My indecisiveness is at such a high level
that I probably change my future career every other day. At this point in life, my family, advisors, and
professors are telling me that I don t need to know what I want to be doing for a living, in the future,
yet, I feel that I should know. I don t want to be wasting my time and taking unnecessary classes. The
thoughts about my future career leave me to be extremely indecisive and nervous, at times. I just hope,
like people have told me, that It comes to me. In regards to my interests and skills, I prefer math and
science over reading and history, but it is not because I do poorly in the subjects. I enjoy solving
problems and learning about the human body and all the fascinating things it can perform, voluntarily
and involuntarily. I am a studious individual and received high grades throughout my educational
career, which I hope continues on in college. Striving to do the best is something vital in wanting to
accomplish something in life. Being that I am a first generation child, one from parents who are
immigrants from Montenegro, Europe, I have some skills which

Moral Evil vs. Natural Evil Essay
Evil can be categorized into two forms, moral evil and natural evil. Moral evil is brought about by bad
choices that stem from our free will. Natural evil is bad things that happen to people, whether they
deserve them or not. The problem with evil is,
Either we must say that God is not wholly good, and that he permits or is even the author of evil. Or
we must say that God is not omnipotent, and although he is wholly good and would prevent evil if he
could, he is powerless to stop it. (Fitzgerald 340).
This is a significant problem to the revealed religions because they believe in a wholly good and
omnipotent God. Why then, would this God allow evil? In this paper, I will provide, explain, and

This would be similar to taking pieces out of a wooden wheel. The more slices that are removed, the
worse the wheel becomes, but it is still a wheel. Likewise a good person can become less good by
being corrupted, but he still exists as a person as long as there is some form of good left. This small
incorruptible good inside of us is like a piece of God in every living thing. Man can be corrupted like
this because we can make morally wrong choices that deprive us of good. This is due to our free will.
God created mankind with the ability to make choices based on our own wants; this is known as free
will. If free will did not exist, the world would be a very boring place. Imagine never being able to
make your own decisions. God did not want this so he gave us the power to think on our own. We are
rational beings and mostly make good decisions, but the bad decisions are what lead to evil.
Consciences act like a moral compass in our heads, trying to steer us away from the evil choices and
towards the good. Our consciences could be part of that small incorruptible good that is inside of us.
Sometimes a conscience is not enough to guide us, though, and evil choices stem from our free will.

broke the elevator norm. Our setting took place at Miami Beach Community Health Center North

The observers aged between 20 plus through 70 plus, we had observers from a pregnant woman to an
old man in a wheelchair, and from nurses to a security guard. Most of our spectators were women and
few were men, and race of the observers was among Hispanics and African Americans, if I m not
mistaken, I think there was an Indian/Bangladeshi woman. I think most of the observers are middle
class and most of the observers mood was nervous and quite because they were waiting for a checkup
or since it was a hospital. When my partner and I arrived at the health center, I was nervous since I
don t know how other people would react when I am facing them in the elevator. On the first try, I did
not say anything, nor I look at them because I got nervous. When the time arrived for actually
breaking the norm, I was scared since I don t know what the other person s reaction would be. As I am
facing the people on the elevator, I started to see the awkward look coming from the people and I was
feeling uncomfortable. There were some people who would just look at their phone or look the other
way as I make eye contact with them. The reason I felt uncomfortable because no one usually make

Teen Pregnancy Causes
Some causes of Teen pregnancy are absent parenting, lack of knowledge, substance abuse, living in
poverty and peer pressure. The number of teens within the ages of 14 19 has substantially decreased
over the last several years. While examining the causes of teen pregnancy, new methods of prevention
can be defined. If there are different methods identified for preventing teen pregnancy than the number
of teens can go down more.
Absent parenting is one of the leading causes of teen pregnancy. Women who do not have both parents
in the picture are eight times more likely to become pregnant at a young age than someone who has
both parents. On account of absentee parents the time the parent leaves affect the risk that the child
has on becoming a teen parent. When a parent leaves or is present but does not engage with the child,
there is no one to lead by example. If there is no one for a teen to look up to they look for an
alternative that may not make the best choices. As a result of not having a parent present, when the
child executes a wrong decision, there is little to no discipline Decisions that are not in the best
interest of the teenager are likely to increase if they know there will be no punishment for their

Analysis Of I Am Waiting
American politics has proved to be flawed in structure over, and over again. Although our founding
fathers had the best intentions when they implemented democracy, they like most modern day
politicians, failed to actually make things better. Yes we gained our Independence, but with the ability
to make our own choices we tend to make childish and impulsive decisions. The election of Donald
Trump stands to be the most recent of those mistakes, and the politicians who work for him are either
blinded or full of regret. Poets Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Robert Lowell paint vivid pictures of these
very mistakes that seem to recur with the thought of democracy.
More often than not we elect our President based on the changes he promises to deliver once in office.
Lawrence Ferlinghetti s poem titled I Am Waiting is a perfect example of those broken promises. The
poem discusses how he s waiting for the American dream to manifest itself. The dream of freedom and
equality in a place where our elected officials actually work for us, rather than against us. You know
he s talking about these things in the allusions he makes to the Mayflower and the Western frontier. He
says,
And I am waiting / for a rebirth of wonder / and I am waiting for someone / to really discover
America/ and wail/ The poem ends with Ferlinghetti waiting forever and constantly seeking change
similar to American citizens wishing and waiting for the same.

O plunge your hands in water,
Plunge them in up to the wrist;
Stare, stare in the basin
And wonder what you ve missed.
As I Walked Out One Evening,
W. H. Auden
We cannot control the passage of time: like water, it slips through our fingers and reminds us that we
are ephemeral. If we are born into this world without our will and we leave it without our will then,
alone, each of us is vulnerable and separate. Vulnerable to the external forces which influence our
sense of identity and then separate from one another due to our biological parameters. As life
experience accumulates these newly deposited substances sediment and float to the surface to
convalesce into ideas, opinions and emotions and, as Edward de Bono puts it, is where the brain
becomes mind.
Even if we cannot halt the passage of time or stop the water from flowing, our actions in the present
have the power to direct the stream so that once we learn to swim we are able to choose what we do
with our lives. If our time is biologically limited and if we need each other, in order to be personally
fulfilled, it stands to reason that we should strive for a good life for everyone, so how can we do more
good? If there is a mechanism which absolves us from our responsibility to be good, what is it? The
simple answer could be that we are human.
But what is humanity and how does our self awareness dictate our capacity to be good? A

Christianity And Islam Comparison
Christianity and Islam are surely different religions but foundationally some parts are the same. Where

Christianity is a lover of all creatures that are on earth and has a relation to his followers and son
(Jesus Christ) whereas Allah loves some and hate others who does not follow his will and does not
have relations to anyone as this would be a blasphemous sin. This difference shifts over to the art
aspects such as the sculptures, books, paintings and even decorative sketches on buildings. In my
analysis of art, I will be analyzing the differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, Mosque have beautiful stained glass and patterns with geometry and calligraphy on the
outside of the building. The first mosque with a minaret was established in 707 which is called the
mosque of Madinah. A minaret as told by Ettinghausen was said to be from it the muezzin called the
faithful to prayer at appointed times (Ettinghausen 21). The minaret was not around during
Muhammad s time where he had to go on a rooftop to do a call to prayer 5 times a day, so when the
minaret was established in the Islamic culture it became a symbol of Islamic presence. A minaret is a
tall building so that everyone in that society could see it and hear the muezzin call. Something that
seemed similar in mosques to early churches were the Corinthian order pillars that were common
since this was a place to learn. Another thing I noticed was the utilization of certain shapes on the
outside walls such as the circles which meant divine and in one picture there was a panel with one
large circle and four smaller circles around it. The four circles could be a reference to the four holy
books of Islam which are the Qu ran, Tawrat, Injil, and

The society would begin to be centered around technology and shift online. A plethora of advantages and societal changes has sparked negative thoughts about how the internet has changed our lives. The ability for our computers to communicate has left us as easy targets for hackers and has sucked the American youth into a zombie like state into their phones. Many worry the internet is degrading our culture. When referring to the invention of writing and reading, Plato denounced writing as inhuman and warned that writing weakened the mind and that it threatened to destroy people s memory (Furedi). People are often scared of new innovations because they are aware of its potential to revolutionize their culture. Adjusting to unfamiliar concepts and innovations can be uncomfortable and difficult for most people. Similarly, modern day sceptics look at the internet in a negative light because of its rapidly increasing impact on our society. What most tend to forget is the positive influences of the internet. The increased interconnection brought by the internet has led to a society that values productivity, rapid production of ideas, and social awareness. The idea of the internet first appeared in August of 1962 from J.C.R. Licklider, a professor at MIT. • 7. Haydn Farewell Symphony Essay Since the early 19th century, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven have been venerated as the first of the three Viennese classics. Franz Joseph Haydn (1732 1809) was an Austrian composer who began his career in the traditional patronage system of the late Austrian Baroque and ended as a free artist within the burgeoning Romanticism of the early 19th century. He was one of the most celebrated composers of his time and a culture hero throughout Europe. He is familiarly known as the father of the symphony . Beethoven (1770 1827) was a German composer and a pupil of Haydn s. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the father of the four movement form of the classical period, is was no surprise that his Farewell Symphony included the Allegro assai, Adagio, menuet and trio, and the finale Presto movements. The symphony has an unusual and complex tonal scheme, involving three different structural tonics, F sharp minor, A major, and F sharp major; the double finale incorporates all three. The F sharp minor projects something inherently unstable which demands, and receives resolution by the tonic major, which is gradual, complex and a systematic change from instability to stability. This process involves all aspects of the music including tonality, rhythm, form, instrumentation, dynamics and psychological content. Beethoven also uses a four movement form but includes Allegro, Scherzo, Adagio and Presto Allegro. The formal structure of the movements, while generally adhering to the Classical models, charted new territory. The first movement, although in Classical sonata form, confounds listeners first by rising to a fortissimo climax in the harmonically unstable exposition section and then by delaying a return to the home key. The scherzo is placed as the second movement, rather than the customary third, and the third movement is a mostly restful, almost prayerful adagio. The last movement builds from a gentle beginning into a brazen finale, while recalling some of the themes from earlier movements and once the Ode ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had spent about a year researching various places to move and I identified Gainesville as a great place, a conclusion also reached by Money Magazine in 1995. One of the reasons I thought Gainesville would be a good move was the low cost of housing. My first purchase was a mobile home, on a one acre lot, in a nearby city. That worked out very well. The seller s agent made a mistake at closing that saved me $2,500 on what was supposed to be a $28,000 transaction. The mortgage was five years and paid off on time. I still own the lot though the mobile home is no longer there. A couple of years later I bought my first house in Gainesville. I grew up in New York City. Half a million dollars would not buy the attached house with the postage stamp sized backyard I grew up in. I also lived in Boston in the 1980s, where $250,000 would buy a large, though very chic walk in closet. My first house in Gainesville was on the city line and cost me $40,000 in a private, owner financed sale. It came without an A/C system but a small window unit made up for that. It sat on a 1/4 acre lot, virtually unheard of now in Boston or New York. I paid 10% down and got a 30 year mortgage at a very acceptable rate of 6.5%. We capture, contain, and control the very wildness of these animals, we so admire them for. We decorate a large bucket of water, or a box of bars to resemble a shallow shadow of the wilderness they should be in. These animals held captive in collective groups as a means to entertain us. We are trading the wonder of nature, seen in it s own wilderness area for animal showmanship and entertainment. Losing the remarkable sensations of hope and renewal we experience, as we stand in a wilderness land, quietly observing animals and nature in the wildly beautiful and raw lands. The absence of our own lack of realization that nature and the wild places we call the wilderness are under attack. They are in danger of being beyond repair. The goal of separating the components of milk was desirable because their differences in properties required different techniques to separate them. Casein, unable to dissolve in the nonpolar solution, remained a white solid.1 The ethyl acetate, with a lower boiling point than the fat, was boiled off, leaving a yellow liquid containing fat and various fat soluble vitamins. Vitamin A caused the liquid to be yellow, which confirmed the presence of vitamins. The residue was added to water, where it proved to be insoluble in water. This indicated that the residue contained fat, because fat was the only nonpolar liquid remaining at the end of the separations. People are selfish creatures who generally view others in a limited, self serving manner; only forming an opinion on another s identity in relation to their own. In the novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, the protagonist Pip s character development is entirely due to the way he views those close to him and his need for self improvement in response to these views. As Pip matures, he looks to the world around him and more importantly to the people around him to form his desires and ambitions. The novel illustrates the dangers of both ambition and idealism and provides a brilliant commentary on social conformity. Although Pip does grow to place genuine value on those close to him later in life, he reflects on his former aspirations and selfishness in his youth that caused much turmoil in his life. Despite Pip s brother in law, Joe Gargery, beginning as a personal hero that Pip initially likens to a sort of Hercules in strength (7), Pip later grows ashamed of him. Joe s character basically remains unchanged throughout the novel and primarily acts as a symbol of Pip s personal growth (or lack thereof). Joe is described as a kind and honest blacksmith with little financial success, and he represents Pip s modest beginnings and true background which Pip wishes to leave in the past as he begins to seek out a great fortune. Washington Irving s depiction of Katrina Van Tassel is that she was a little of a coquette and liked to mix older and modern fashions she wore the...stomacher of the older time; and withal a provokingly short petticoat, to display the prettiest foot and ankle (Irving 325) because they accentuated her best features. Add in her beauty a blooming lass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After he expresses his sorrow again, her reply is, Indeed you were, sir (6:56 7:09). She also made sure that when she was leaving, after Ichabod learned who she is, that her father (who hired him) could fire him just as fast (7:21 7:25). An example of her coquettishness is when she ponders the possibility for a girl to have two suitors; and she is called selfish and greedy by another character because the person that already has the best man in the county wrapped around her finger like a wedding ring shouldn t be making google eyes at other men (46:16 46:33); this goes to show a similarity to the written story. During the course of the movie, however, she becomes increasingly interested in Ichabod; she tells another character that she wants a gentle man, an educated man, a quiet man (48:12 48:19). She is in love with Ichabod, which is a contrast to the movie. The ending of their story in the movie is also not the same as the written story; we assume they live happily ever after. Moving from Katrina to her biggest suitor (in every sense of the word), we find that Irving s representation of Abraham Brom Van Brunt, otherwise known as Brom Bones, can be summed up in Irving s own words. His physical appearance, his Herculean frame and great powers of limb (Irving 327), caused Brom to be the object of awe, admiration, and good will by the people of Sleepy Hollow (Irving 328). Brom was generally considered a mixture of entertainment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Dell s Buyout Dell s Buyout Dell has always been one of the largest PC makers in the United States. Recently, though its share of the PC industry has been declining. It went from the number one low cost provider of PCs in the world to number 3. Its inability to adapt to the new markets that have emerged has caused the company to fall behind other hi tech companies such as IBM, Apple, and even HP. I feel this is an important topic because it is an example of a large company that has lost touch with what consumers want and is currently trying to restructure itself in order to gain back the dominance they once had. This is different from the view point of the New York Times which doesn t necessarily take a side with the shareholders or Michael Dell, but rather analyzes the effect this move might have on the hi tech market and the probability of Dell Inc. seeing growth in the long run and continuing to compete with larger hi tech companies. According to the BBC article, analysts are stressing the fact that a leveraged buyout will give Mr. Dell the flexibility in turning the company around, by no longer needing to show strong results every quarter to shareholders on the stock market. I am seventeen years old and am attending my first semester in college. I look forward to getting good grades, opening my mind to new things, and eventually graduating college. However, I have absolutely no idea what I want to be doing in the future. My indecisiveness is at such a high level that I probably change my future career every other day. At this point in life, my family, advisors, and professors are telling me that I don t need to know what I want to be doing for a living, in the future, yet, I feel that I should know. I don t want to be wasting my time and taking unnecessary classes. The thoughts about my future career leave me to be extremely indecisive and nervous, at times. I just hope, like people have told me, that It comes to me. In regards to my interests and skills, I prefer math and science over reading and history, but it is not because I do poorly in the subjects. I enjoy solving problems and learning about the human body and all the fascinating things it can perform, voluntarily and involuntarily. I am a studious individual and received high grades throughout my educational career, which I hope continues on in college. Striving to do the best is something vital in wanting to accomplish something in life. • 30. Moral Evil vs. Natural Evil Essay Evil can be categorized into two forms, moral evil and natural evil. Moral evil is brought about by bad choices that stem from our free will. Natural evil is bad things that happen to people, whether they deserve them or not. The problem with evil is, Either we must say that God is not wholly good, and that he permits or is even the author of evil. Or we must say that God is not omnipotent, and although he is wholly good and would prevent evil if he could, he is powerless to stop it. (Fitzgerald 340). This is a significant problem to the revealed religions because they believe in a wholly good and omnipotent God. Why then, would this God allow evil? The more slices that are removed, the worse the wheel becomes, but it is still a wheel. Likewise a good person can become less good by being corrupted, but he still exists as a person as long as there is some form of good left. This small incorruptible good inside of us is like a piece of God in every living thing. Man can be corrupted like this because we can make morally wrong choices that deprive us of good. This is due to our free will. God created mankind with the ability to make choices based on our own wants; this is known as free will. If free will did not exist, the world would be a very boring place. Imagine never being able to make your own decisions. God did not want this so he gave us the power to think on our own. We are rational beings and mostly make good decisions, but the bad decisions are what lead to evil. Consciences act like a moral compass in our heads, trying to steer us away from the evil choices and towards the good. Our consciences could be part of that small incorruptible good that is inside of us. Sometimes a conscience is not enough to guide us, though, and evil choices stem from our free will. Free ... Our setting took place at Miami Beach Community Health Center North (Address: 11645 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33181) and the number of observers was about twenty. The observers aged between 20 plus through 70 plus, we had observers from a pregnant woman to an old man in a wheelchair, and from nurses to a security guard. Most of our spectators were women and few were men, and race of the observers was among Hispanics and African Americans, if I m not mistaken, I think there was an Indian/Bangladeshi woman. I think most of the observers are middle class and most of the observers mood was nervous and quite because they were waiting for a checkup or since it was a hospital. When my partner and I arrived at the health center, I was nervous since I don t know how other people would react when I am facing them in the elevator. On the first try, I did not say anything, nor I look at them because I got nervous. When the time arrived for actually breaking the norm, I was scared since I don t know what the other person s reaction would be. As I am facing the people on the elevator, I started to see the awkward look coming from the people and I was feeling uncomfortable. There were some people who would just look at their phone or look the other way as I make eye contact with them. The reason I felt uncomfortable because no one usually make eye contact inside the ... The number of teens within the ages of 14 19 has substantially decreased over the last several years. While examining the causes of teen pregnancy, new methods of prevention can be defined. If there are different methods identified for preventing teen pregnancy than the number of teens can go down more. Absent parenting is one of the leading causes of teen pregnancy. Women who do not have both parents in the picture are eight times more likely to become pregnant at a young age than someone who has both parents. On account of absentee parents the time the parent leaves affect the risk that the child has on becoming a teen parent. When a parent leaves or is present but does not engage with the child, there is no one to lead by example. If there is no one for a teen to look up to they look for an alternative that may not make the best choices. • 37. Analysis Of I Am Waiting American politics has proved to be flawed in structure over, and over again. Although our founding fathers had the best intentions when they implemented democracy, they like most modern day politicians, failed to actually make things better. Yes we gained our Independence, but with the ability to make our own choices we tend to make childish and impulsive decisions. The election of Donald Trump stands to be the most recent of those mistakes, and the politicians who work for him are either blinded or full of regret. Poets Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Robert Lowell paint vivid pictures of these very mistakes that seem to recur with the thought of democracy. More often than not we elect our President based on the changes he promises to deliver once in office. Lawrence Ferlinghetti s poem titled I Am Waiting is a perfect example of those broken promises. The poem discusses how he s waiting for the American dream to manifest itself. The dream of freedom and equality in a place where our elected officials actually work for us, rather than against us. You know he s talking about these things in the allusions he makes to the Mayflower and the Western frontier. He says, And I am waiting / for a rebirth of wonder / and I am waiting for someone / to really discover America/ and wail/ The poem ends with Ferlinghetti waiting forever and constantly seeking change similar to American citizens wishing and waiting for the same. We Can Not Control The Passage Of Time Our divided selves and our Self s: how we betray ourselves through our design O plunge your hands in water, Plunge them in up to the wrist; Stare, stare in the basin And wonder what you ve missed. As I Walked Out One Evening, W. H. Auden We cannot control the passage of time: like water, it slips through our fingers and reminds us that we are ephemeral. If we are born into this world without our will and we leave it without our will then, alone, each of us is vulnerable and separate. Vulnerable to the external forces which influence our sense of identity and then separate from one another due to our biological parameters. As life experience accumulates these newly deposited substances sediment and float to the surface to convalesce into ideas, opinions and emotions and, as Edward de Bono puts it, is where the brain becomes mind. Even if we cannot halt the passage of time or stop the water from flowing, our actions in the present have the power to direct the stream so that once we learn to swim we are able to choose what we do with our lives. If our time is biologically limited and if we need each other, in order to be personally fulfilled, it stands to reason that we should strive for a good life for everyone, so how can we do more good? If there is a mechanism which absolves us from our responsibility to be good, what is it? The simple answer could be that we are human. But what is humanity and how does our self awareness dictate our capacity to be good? A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
