Good year, bad year: Students work in groups to take turns picking up cards and talk
about future activities. It is a great activity to practise different future forms.

Materials needed: None
Time: 15 mins
Procedure:
1. Tell the students that some years are better or more enjoyable/successful than
others. We remember these years and the special things that happened.
2. Now ask them to choose a good year for them and tell your partner why the year
was special basing on these questions: What happened? What did you do? Who
did you meet? Where did you go?
3. Make a list of things that have happened in 2014. Follow these headings to help
you:
- New friends
- Fun things I did
- Key events/moments
- Fun things I heard or saw
- Important lessons I learned
4. Ask them now to interview their partner/classmates about their year. Was it a
good year?
5. Feedback: asking students to tell you who has had the best year among the ones
they have talked to.
