The document discusses the history and features of the Metalib X-Server application. It was co-developed by California State University and Johns Hopkins University, and is currently used by 26 institutions with many more in development. Recent versions have improved internationalization support, better catalog linking, integration with bX, librarian and guide features, saved searches and records, and expanded citation formatting. The application can also be used as an interface to other systems such as WorldCat, Primo, Summon, and Ebsco Discovery Service through modules and a "search framework".
