What Is The Categorical Imperative
Immanuel Kant s seminal work, the Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals and its subsequent
On a Supposed Right to Lie because of Philanthropic Concerns , ushered in a new era of critical
thinking on morality and will through his development of the categorical imperative. However, his
thoughts behind the categorical imperative that is, that all moral concepts and thus the categorical
imperative comes a priori in reason (Kant 22) are flawed in the belief of reason existing at all.
That is to say that Kant s attempted proof to show that morals come a priori in reason is flawed in
the assumption that humans can reason at all. As well, his attempt to show the categorical
imperative in action (through his example of lying) is also flawed and essentially unable to be
proved through the demonstration of the first point. Finally, the... Show more content on

The Themes Of African American Literature
Within African American Literature, there are many themes that are relatable across many different
forms of media. Paintings, for example, can have similar and contradictory themes to those that are
used in African American Literature. Like authors with their literature, artists too take from their
experiences and opinions and form a creation that is a reflection of what they believe. These
creations, both literature and paintings, can contain certain topics that are quite alike. Ellis Wilson,
and African Americanartist, created a painting that exhibits the theme of spirituality in his painting
Prayerin the Field. This theme can be linked to at least three works from African American
literature that broadens the way readers and spectators of art see spirituality.
In Prayer in the Field, it is not difficult to see that spirituality is a major theme. There are three
elements of this painting that support the theme of spirituality. The first element of this painting
that one notices is the bright colors used. Ellis Wilson, whom is known for his expressive,
emphasis of color, uses warm and inviting colors to create a scene that conveys complete
tranquility (Ellis Wilson). Along with color, the next element is the four figures kneeling in the
field praying. These elongated forms, which Wilson is also known for, are what bring in the
spirituality aspect (Ellis Wilson). The tone of Prayer in the Field created by the colors is what
gives these kneeling figures meaning. The warm

A Girl Sat By Herself At A Dirty Lunch Table
A girl sat by herself at a dirty lunch table eating quietly. She ignored the jeers shot towards her,
and continued eating. She was facing the consequences of being different. How dare she have
colored hair, how dare she dress different, how dare she have different tastes, and most of all,
how dare she not conform. At least, that s how they think. If one does not conform, they get
teased for being Weird, The girl, however, was subject to more extreme forms, social deprivation,
hitting, shoving, tripping. Every day she was victimized, to the point where her confidence was
in tatters. Every day she hid in her room, she cried for hours. Weekends were her Savior,
Summers were her heaven. The bus was particularly hellacious. Every day, the same girl. Hair
pulling, name calling, kicking. Every day it was the same girl. It didn t matter what she did, this
girl, Steph, was always on her case. Steph even got off on the same stop as her. Though she often
ran into the house before much more happened. One particular day, she learned something
valuable. It was a lesson she would treasure for much of her life. It was a snowy day, one worthy
of a heavy coat. On the bus ride home from school, one of her usual pursuers was silent. She took
notice that they looked solemn. It was Steph, who waits for her parent every day, due to her house
being far off and her parents picking her up after work. Today, however, the mother

Mass Legalization For Unauthorized Immigrants
A recent push to provide amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants in today s society has become a
very contentious issue for Americans. While most United States citizens agree that illegal
immigrants violate the basic core of fundamental immigration laws, there remains an unprecedented
controversy regarding the possibility of granting amnesty to this growing sector of the population.
While some citizens may argue that a mass legalization of immigrants could spark growth in the
United States, others speculate that amnesty could create turmoil throughout the country. In the
preceding testimony titled Mass Legalization for Unauthorized Immigrants Is a Bad Idea by the
American Immigration Control Foundation, the author claims that a mass... Show more content on

He points out, classic economic theory teaches that as supply of a commodity in this case, labor
increases, the price will fall (AICF, 2016). The author was trying to solidify his point by
appealing to the emotions of the reader. Clearly, workers in the United States would not want to
see their hourly wage decrease due to an influx of migrant workers. Therefore, the writer was
likely successful in expressing his viewpoint to the reader. The use of pathos in this paragraph also
demonstrates that the author was passionate about his viewpoint. This rhetoric provides a strong
and logical transition to the next premise of the argument. The author s second premise employs
ethos and logos to justify the fiscal problems the United States will be forced to encounter by
granting amnesty. Currently, the American government is trying to stabilize an ever increasing
national debt and find long term solutions for national health care and social security. Adding
uneducated and inadequately skilled workers to our population could burden our current
entitlement programs and increase public debt. The author warns, granting amnesty or legal
status to illegals will generate costs in Medicare and Social Security alone of $2.5 trillion above
any taxes paid in (AICF, 2016). The use of logos and numerical data build a framework for the
author s next few paragraphs. The writer

The Media s Impact On Public Opinion
The media has always had a powerful impact on public opinion in Britain. With several different
types and means of communication, such as TV, newspapers, social networking and radio, it is
difficult for the public to not be even slightly impacted by the opinion of thousands that surrounds
them every day. However, with newspapers spinning stories to promote the party they favour
(such as the Daily Mail in favour of Conservatives or the Mirror in favour of Labour ) or to
disparage the opposition, is it clear there is any obvious influence from the media towards the
public in relation to reporting on British Politics?
Since January 2001, the total circulation of the UK s ten major national newspapers has declined .
It could be said that the press choose to slander politicians to gain attention from the public to push
sales, rather than inform the public on the real political issues at hand. For example, women s
magazines discuss political issues such as abortion and the tampon tax , rather than commercial
newspapers that publish stories such as scrutinizing politician Jeremy Corbyn for his subtle head
nod at the remembrance Sunday cenotaph. In a declining market for their product, newspaper titles
battle against each other for audiences and advertising revenue in their respective market segments,
while the press as a whole is engaged in competition with other media sectors, such as the news via
the internet, which makes it easier for the public to instantly engage with

groups therefore prefer acquiescence to disagreement and compromise to conflict (Forsyth, pg.

self esteem, particularly when individuals categorize themselves as group members and identify

Ohio Adverse Possession Laws Case Summary
On January 1, 2008, four lawsuits involving Brad Pitt were filed in Ohio. The first was brought
by Matt Damon against Brad Pitt to acquire quiet title to one acre of Brad s land that Matt had
cleared and built a barn on. Looking into quiet titles and adverse possession laws will determine
if Matt can get title to the land or not. The second case involves Snazzy Jeff, a paparazzo, seeing
Maddox, Brad s son, dropped his PokГ©mon camera. Snazzy Jeff then came up and took the item
hoping to find pictures to sell on it without informing Brad or Maddox. This may be a case of lost
propertyor theft that needs to be evaluated. The third case involves Brad suing Jackie Philabaum at
the request of his wife. At the parade, Brad took off his coat and... Show more content on

To acquire a quiet title to the land Matt Damon only needs 21 of those years. According to Ohio
law, the person wanting to obtain title from adverse possession must have possessed the property
for 21 years without the permission of the owner, but in clear knowledge of the owner ( Ohio
Adverse Possession Laws ). There are four requirements listed to obtain a quiet title starting with
using the land without permission of the owner. Then they must treat the land as their own, use
the land in an obvious way and for a continuous period of time without sharing with others ( Ohio
Adverse Possession Laws ). Matt Daman easily completes all four of these requirements. He
never asked Brad for permission to clear the land and build a barn on Brad s land, but did. Brad
repeatedly visited and inspected the property in 1986, 1996, and 2002, seeing the barn but never
saying anything to Matt. Matt appears to have also used the land for a continuous period
totaling 21 years before requesting title to the one acre of land. Brad may have a defense if he
had talked to Matt at any time about the property and can prove it, but it will be a hard case to
win for him. Matt will win this case for a quiet title to the one acre of land with his barn on it
because of the time that had passed with no objection or other claims of possession by Brad. Later,

Abstract Human population over the past decades, have doubled, tripled and grown rapidly, thereby

The theory has explained human population evolution relatively well in Europe and other highly
developed countries. Many developing countries have moved into stage 3. The major exceptions
are poor countries, mainly in sub Saharan Africa (Nigeria, Benin, Mali, Niger amongst others) and
some Middle Eastern[ 9] countries, which are poor or affected by government policy or civil strife,
notably Pakistan[ 10], Palestinian Territories[ 11], Yemen[ 12] and Afghanistan[ 13].

Origins of Demographic Transition Theory
The idea of DTT was first advanced by Warren Thompson[ 15] in 1929. He divided the world into
three major groups:
В·Countries with rapidly declining birth and death rates, with fertility declining more rapidly than
mortality, resulting in a declining growth rate (Northern[ 16] and Western Europe[ 17], North
America[ 18] and Australasia[ 19])
В·Countries with declining birth and death rates in certain socio economic strata, with the rate of
decline of the death rate higher than the decline in the birth rate (Central and Southern Europe)
В·Countries with high birth rates but declining death rates (rest of the world)
Frank W. Notestein[ 20] developed this theory in 1945 and suggested that there was a relationship
between population change and industrial development. He suggested that with time, countries go
through a linear evolution from traditional,

The Republicans Fight For Economic Justice And Security
Ideologies are referred as a set of ideas and values that provides a base for organised political
action. They justify and influence the different theories of society and human nature. Ideologies
have a big impact on policy making. Democratic and Republican parties differ on their ideologies
and values, therefore, impacting policy formulation. Democrats fight for economic justice and
security in the U.S. and global economies. For example, fairness is the core principle for the
Congressional progressive caucus. It also embodies national priorities that are consistent with the
values, needs, and hopes of all our people, not just the powerful and the privilege. They want to
invest in America and create new jobs in the U.S. by building more affordable housing, re building
America s schools and physical infrastructure, cleaning up our environment, and improving
homeland security. They also want to ensure working families can live above the poverty line and
with dignity by raising and indexing the minimum wage. Whereas the Republicans believe they
shouldn t be spending money on the homeless. Conservatives believe that giving away handouts
decreases incentives to work and that, generally, welfare is the enemy of freedom. As a result, The
House bill was an attempt to end the Housing Trust Fund. Housing is a human right and people
should not have to live in poor conditions. I know someone that was homeless when he was young
and that alone affected his mental health because of the

A Research Study On Respiratory Therapy
I often get asked the question of what is a Respiratory Therapist. In short, we are trained
professionals who provide therapeutic modalities to patients suffering from pulmonary diseases.
Seven years ago, I made a decision to pursue a career in Respiratory Therapy. I was attending
college at the University of Louisiana in Monroe (ULM), but had no knowledge of what I
wanted to do for the rest of my life. It seemed all of my friends and fellow peers had their minds
made up except for me. I chose to move back closer to home where I participated in a job
shadowing activity. This enabled me to view many different options in the healthcare industry.
To my surprise, I found myself to be most interested in the respiratory profession. I did a little
research and found a Respiratory Degree Program at Louisiana State University in Eunice
(LSUE). To be eligible for certification, a student must graduate with an associate or bachelor s
degree from an accredited program. LSUE was an accredited program through Commission on
Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). This junior college offered a three year program to
obtain an Associate of Science in Respiratory Care. After finishing and achieving my diploma, I
moved on to passing my state boards through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
This test involved two parts. Passing the first half granted one the title of Certified Respiratory
Therapist. If the student scores high enough on this exam, they become eligible for the

Differences Between Minority And Minority Groups
Abstract
This study explores the relationships between majority and minority groups and their awareness of
blatant and subtle prejudice, by priming either common or dual identity. It was hypothesized that
due to their marginalization, minority groups will be more aware of both subtle and blatant
prejudice and that those primed with dual identity will show a similar heightened awareness. The
results demonstrated that majority groups were more aware of both types of prejudice,
contradicting many previous results in this area. This study was conducted on an Australian
population, making it unique, and possibly explaining the contrary results. However, it has also
been suggested that the social stigma surrounding racism in our society has increased the awareness
by majority groups, as they strive to be politically correct and avoid judgment by their peers.
Another worthy discussion point is the internalization of prejudice by minority groups living in a
majority dominated society.
How Common and Dual Identity Can Influence Majority and Minority Awareness of Subtle and
Blatant Prejudice
In modern society, prejudiced ideas and values are present amongst majority dominated societies
(Banaji Devos, 2005). Minority groups, and individuals with a heightened sense of cultural
affiliation to their ethnicity, have been shown to be more aware of subtle prejudice than majority
groups (Operario Fiske, 2001). Previous research in the area of racial prejudice has also

Carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism by the liver is of significance as the anomalies in

Compared to diabetic control rats, total antioxidant levels were significantly increased in GTE
supplemented rats. Inversely, malondialdehyde levels and AT(1) receptor were significantly lower
in the GTE supplemented diabetic group [77]. Catechin and its derivatives in green tea are shown
to be therapeutically very effective.
Catechin has been shown to modulate the hepatic microsomal phospholipase A2 activities. It can
change the hepatic phospholipid species in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats [78]. On the other
hand epigallocatechin gallate, a constituent of green tea, represses the hepatic glucose production.
EGCG also mimics insulin by increasing phosphoinositide 3 kinase, mitogen activated protein
kinase. Furthermore, EGCG has been shown to regulate genes that encode gluconeogenic
enzymes and protein tyrosine phosphorylation by modulating the redox state of the cell. These
finding suggest that EGCG, or derivatives can perform as antidiabetic agent [79]. Green tea has
also been shown in vivo to down regulate the hepatic gluconeogenic gene expressions of enzymes.
The results of this study support the idea that green tea intake may be favorable in the prevention
of diabetes mellitus [80]. Diabetes is multi causal disease. Even the onset of the disease is caused
by a single factor but its progression and pathogenesis may be attributed by a number of
confounding factors. So, in some

Harley Davidson Driving Influence On Saudi Arabia And Arab...
INTRODUCTION In my paper I decided to write about Harley Davidson Motorcycles influence
in Saudi Arabia and the Arab nations in general. I selected this topic in regards to a comment
that my professor, Dr. Thomas Coyle, for MTML 4330 mention during one of his lectures.
During Dr. Coyle lecture he mention that Saudi Arabia woman used to dress as men to drive
Harley Davidson motorcycles. According to Dr. Coyle Arab woman used to dress as men to be
able to be on their own since it is customary for woman to be escorted by a man of her family at
all times. Arab woman used to dress as men so they couldn t be recognize as woman while riding
and feeling free. Although, I couldn t find any specific source about Arab woman riding Harley
Davidsons motorcycles it did brought up allot of questions. First of all, it brought up to my
attention how Harley Davidson has been a brand that impacted the global community. Especially,
since I couldn t imagine an American product being sold in the part of the world where is
presume most countries hate Americas beliefs and lifestyle. It was even harder to imagine Harley
Davidson being sold in Saudi Arabia which represent freedom, adventure, and individuality. Totally
opposite to what I imagine the Arab culture beliefs towards American products would stand for.
During my research I discovered that Harley Davidson it s a very popular commodity in the Arab
nation and the world not only the United States. I honestly imagine that Harley Davidson was

Thanksgiving holiday is one of the few holidays that we do not have in Thailand. I never
understood the significance of this holiday apart from its two day school break until I traveled
on Thanksgiving eve this past holiday. A taxi driver who drove me to the airport hinted about its
importance by saying that, Tonight is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. I did not
completely comprehend his claim until I saw how crowded the airport was. It seemed to me that
everyone headed home to celebrate Thanksgiving with his or her family. However, what was
most amusing that night was a scene of tens or even hundreds of people waiting for their family
members at arrival gate. I was not clear why there were lots of people so I decided to do... Show

In addition, because of the different constraints between controlled environment in laboratories and
the real world, we cannot use experiments to answer the question. Therefore, ethnography is the
most suitable procedure to answer this question.
To conduct my ethnography, I observed people who waited for their family members at the
airport by sitting near the gate and watching their reactions. Without asking for their opinions or
reasons about their behaviors, I eliminated potential Hawthorne effects which is people changed
their actions once they realized that someone observed them. I paid attention to the number of
people waiting together to determine the relationship between the waiting and arriving people,
their actions while they waited and their reaction once they met their person. According to my
observations, people brought the whole family with them if the person they waited for was part
of a family and they were alone if the arrived person was one s boy/girlfriend. They had similar
emotions such as being tired and bored while they waited. No one had any positive facial
expressions but they refused to sit and wait in the back. Everyone wanted to be the first one to see
the person to whom they waited for. When the long awaited person arrived, their emotions changed
dramatically. Everyone had smiles on their faces and they started to hug

Federally Mandated Employee Benefits Essay
Offering employee benefits is one way a company must competes in today s marketplace to
retain old employees and attracts new ones. These benefit packages may range from offering
basic health insurance to additional discretionary and perk benefits such as vacation and
retirement packages. Benefit packages are often a large portion of employee costs and Federal
mandates require an employer to carry and offer certain benefits even if they offer nothing else.
Federally required employee benefits make up approximately a quarter of the costs associated with
employer offered benefit packages. Some of these mandated benefits include Social Security,

people who are unable to work because of a workplace injury or illness. Workers compensation
insurance provides medical care and treatment, rehabilitation and replacement income for

benefits to those workers disabled by occupational illness or injury (Primepay.com, n.d.). Workers
compensation insurance is the protection of employees from loss of income due to job loss. In

Argumentative Essay On Student Debt
Student Debt. Few words drive more fear into the hearts of parents and teenagers alike.
With college graduates now owing more than $1.5 trillion in debt and nearly five million
Americans in student loan default, borrowing for higher education is quickly spiralling out of
control. Universities are one of the best places for wholesome instruction, but what good are these
institutions when no one can pay for their resources? In order to alleviate the problem, many
politicians have proposed plans to make all public college tuition free for students under a set
income threshold. Although it may seem like just the solution that is needed, making college
tuition free, even for a select group of students, is not the best option and would fail to solve the
fundamental cause of the student debt crisis in the first place. ... Show more content on

In just fiscal year 2014 alone, public colleges collected over $58 billion in tuition, nearly double
the $31 billion the government already spends on grants for institutions. To simply waive $58
billion would necessitate a dramatic increase in government spending to compensate, and, by
extension, a dramatic increase in taxes. Not all students at all colleges have troubles with debt,
either. The majority of students who have problems paying off their student loans are those who
attended small for profit schools or community colleges, as those who attend more expensive
schools, despite borrowing more, often end up with higher salaries once they enter the job market.
Moreover, what would be done about those who have already graduated from community college
with debt on their shoulders? Waiving tuition for all public universities would not resolve these
problems; instead, the burden would merely be shifted to taxpayers, hindering economic growth
and leaving those with existing debt out of

Introduction
As the term suggests, User Innovation describes innovation created by any form of user, in contrast
to the traditional innovation approach which focuses on the producer only. It forms a major part of
the current trend of Open Innovation, which is expected to become an essential part and standard in
most companies innovation management within the next 10 years. Open Innovation in this context
means the use of purposive inflows and outflows of knowledge to accelerate internal innovation,
and to expand the markets for external use of innovation, respectively (Chesbrough, 2006). In
general, Open Innovation is a comparably new field of study defined in the late 1980`s, and
research focuses still mostly on case studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The market share in year 5 of the Lead User s products reached 68%, compared to 33%. Finally, the
estimated sales are more than 8 times higher compared to traditional product development.
Reasons
One of the reasons for its success is the following: Lead Users, who are invited to Lead User
Workshops, have needs that are ahead of the rest of the market. Rather than market research, which
focuses on the average users, Lead Users reveal what the majority of the market will demand in the
future even before Early Adopters do. Then, they help during the workshop to readily develop
products that are perfectly suited to this future demand. When doing this, they are not biased by
functional fixedness, which leads to the strong tendancy to create new product lines instead of
incremental innovations.
All in all, the Lead User method represents the perfect recipe to create an incredibly profitable
monopoly situation when launching the new product.

Political Socialization Is A Particular Type Of Political...
Political Socialization is a particular type of political learning where people develop the
attitudes, values, beliefs, opinions and behaviors that are conducive to becoming a good citizen
in their country. With political socialization there are many factors that are present when these
views are formed, many are very apparent like historical events, and a clear effect such as gender,
race, and socio economics status. My own political views were formed the same way as everybody
else were.
Through the first people I came to know, which were my parents. My parents taught me what the
difference between a democrat and a republican were, what role the president plays in our
government, and about our legislative branches which was based around their own views. When
growing up my parents encouraged self respect and individuality so, this taught me to think about
things own my own and how I felt about them. They also taught me how to conduct myself on a
day to day basis. Being taught these things by my parents made me a very open minded person
and this carries over strongly into how I view politics. I tend to focus on the single issues that are on
the forefront and not on which party is proposing them.
This process could be perceived as Good because of the many factors
That are involved in our political culture. Family, education, mass media, and religion are just a few
of the roles that are used in political socialization.

Gender Differences In Inglehart s And Norris
Inglehart s and Norris piece sheds light on the phenomenon of pre existing gender differences
diminishing as women take on more active roles among the younger generations in affluent, post
modern societies.
The piece compares patterns of traditional political activism as well as protest politics (such as
demonstrations, petitions, strikes and boycotts). From all these aspects, it is implied that the rising
tide in gender equality transforming aspects of both men and women s lives in the public sphere
women usually remain less politically active in most nations, contrary to expectations. The gender
gap is still consistently evident across many facets of civic life, even in post industrial societies.

If you were asked who s your real life hero, who would you say? Some people might say. Their
real life hero, or heroes are Orville and Wilbur Wright. Although most of the time people just say

The Venezuela Revolution In Venezuela
Did you know that Venezuela was one of the first colonies to gain their independence from Spain?
At the time Venezuela was a Spanish ruled colony and the people of Venezuela felt that their
government was ruling their colony terribly (Adelblue). The people were led by Simon Bolivar,
whose nickname was The Liberator since he liberated Venezuelaand worked with San Martin to
liberate most of Northern South America (Adelblue). Venezuela declared their independence in
1810 and finally gained their independence after the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 (Minster). Three
symbolic elements of the Venezuelan revolution are used to portray Simon Bolivar, the speech
Simon gave to the Second National Congress in 1819 to encourage the type of government he had
in mind, and the high taxation that was the main cause of the revolution (Ellis and Esler 705). In
the monument to symbolize the Simon Bolivar, we created a statue of him that is being built by
the people of Venezuela that is a representation of how Simon built and liberated the country of
Venezuela (Adelblue). The statue is being built by the people of Venezuela just as Simon built the
country by freeing them and by establishing a strong foundation (Adelblue). The body of the statue
is green to symbolize growth of the country and his pants are blue to symbolize independence.
Simon was the commander of the Venezuelan forces during the successful revolution against Spain
(Martz and Heckler). Simon Bolivar was nicknamed The

Slavery In The Middle Passage
The Middle Passage The history of America is encompassed with several instances of violence,
wars, and gruesome practices. One of the biggest events of the slave trade during American
history was the Middle Passage. It took place between the continents of Europe, Africa, and the
Americas from the seventeenth century to the nineteenth centuries. The first part of the voyage
carried cargo from Europe to the African coast, where the goods were exchanged for African
captives. In the second phase of the trade, Africans were traded for European goods. During this
time, the slaves were packed like cargo into the carriages of sailboats and lived in repugnant
conditions. The voyages lasted for several months and had severe effects on those onboard the ships.

The majority were already enslaved within their tribes and were sold to the Europeans by other
Africans (Mannix Cowley 1). After being sold, the slaves were shackled together and placed on
a vessel on the boat. One of the worst aspects of the Middle Passage was the living conditions in
which the slaves had to live and their treatment by the crew. While slaves were given food and
water, it was very infrequently, and if food was scarce, the crewmembers and slaveholders got
preferential treatment over the slaves (Mannix Cowley 6). Slaves resisted in several ways; they
either refused to eat or committed suicide. They knew that they were being fed so they could
make strong slaves, and some were too proud to be slaves, so they killed themselves Syphertt

Pike Life Lessons
Pike
Over the past three seasons we have seen quite some villains on the show. Most of them were
grey ish: they had the right intentions but not the right methods. Think of Diana Sydney, Queen
Anya, Dante Wallace, Queen Nia. There were some less redeemable villains like Cage Wallace
and there are a few that are just downright unlikeable (remember Dr. Lorelei Tsing?). However,
Pike takes unlikeable villains to new dimensions. Nothing that the show has done has made him
even a bit likeable. I want him dead and the sooner he dies, the better it will be. His character
comes off as a one dimensional villain that only cares about killing Grounders. His argument that
every Grounder is the same is bullshit, and if he doesn t see that he must be blind. ... Show more

ALIE when he was talking to Jaha. Also, Raven did not see her until after she had taken the pill.
I am curious to see how that works and how exactly that bag works that Jaha carries around with

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Exclusive Jurisdiction
Statutory exclusive jurisdiction is a form of the international jurisdiction, which is always regulated
by the mandatory norms of the law and which may not be overridden by an agreement on
jurisdiction by the defendant s voluntary submission to the different forum. It has imperative
character and stands on the fact that the matters involved in the exclusive jurisdictionrules are
closely linked to the state sovereignty or the territory of the state and in these situations, the state
interest prevails over the private. This means that the state has a special interest to make its courts
hear the dispute despite other controversial circumstances (such as for instance the agreement on
the jurisdiction of a different court), exclude any possibility to transfer the case and the most
important, do not allow the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, which are made
with the violation of the exclusive jurisdiction rules. This special state interest is legally justified
and admissible. Therefore, the provisions of the exclusive jurisdictions prescribe that, if the subject
matter of the dispute is one of the specifically indicated therein, only the courts pointed there have
jurisdiction to hear the dispute and settle it.

Edward De Vere
The authorship of all of Shakespeare s genius literature is the biggest detective story. It is one
that has brought curiosity to the world for centuries and is still very alive today. Has a man who
had no evidence that he had ever gone to school, composed brilliant pieces of literature known to
all of mankind? It is highly unlikely. There must have been someone else. Scholars are now
speculating as to whether Edward De Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, is the true author of all of
Shakespeare s publications,
Edward De Vere was born in the Hedingham Castle. One of his tutors at the time was Laurence
Nowell, who owned a copy of Beowulf. In 1558, Edward De Vere attended Cambridge and Oxford

However, William Shakespeare never claimed the publications. Neither did Edward De Vere, but
that was because he would be looked down upon.
I have read many of the reasons as to why the 17th Earl of Oxford depicts a better candidate for
these writings. The same has been done for William Shakespeare. It isn t likely that a person who
is uneducated and without experience, to write literature with as much intellect as they all contain.
Edward De Vere was a graduate at the age of 14. A man with that much genius must have published
something in his life. It would ve been a shame if he hadn t.
I think it is as clear as day for people to see why Edward De Vere was the author of all
Shakespeare s literature. He was experienced and intelligent. He traveled to places in which
Shakespeare s plays take place and he had an abundance amount of knowledge about the lives of
those living with a high status. Experts state that many of the publications can be matched to a
certain event in Edward De Vere s

Lindo said, It was really quite simple. I made the Huangs think it was their idea to get rid of me,

stated, They didn t blame me so much. Huang Taitai got her grandson. I got my clothes, a rail

Like todays time firearms have different grips and features. Firearms are still being made
differently today to please people who like different features. The different features are what make
each firearm so unique; also the different features can make the firearm shoot differently. For
example, some firearms may have a kick to them while some may not. Also some firearms can
shoot and hit a target that is further away than others.
Since the beginning of time for firearms they have been used in ways that they should not be.
People try to blame firearms for actions or tragedy s that take place in the world. Firearms are
not to blame for actions that take; whoever is pulling the trigger to the firearm is to blame for
the action that has taken place. America needs to take time to really reflect on the way a firearm
can save a life just as quick as it could take a life. It would be great if there were a rule that
anyone who owned a firearm would have to take a firearm safety course. Firearm safety is not
practiced enough in America and many are unaware of how quick an accident could take place.
There are times when things happen that shouldn t because of careless mistakes with firearms.
One example while carrying a firearm in any circumstance would be firearms should be unloaded
when not in use (firearm). The reasoning behind this is to simply keep everyone including yourself
safe while carrying a firearm.

Historically dating, navigating relationships and ending relationships had been quite the difficult

Acquaintances can now be better established through digital profiles, knowledge can be readily

What Are Xerxes Attitudes Towards The Spartans

Today when people talk about the Spartans they think about the movie 300 that was created that

actual real accounts that happened during the time of this particular Persian invasion. When
Herodotus wrote the Histories he mentions this battle in great detail. His thirst for knowledge
gives us a better perspective of Spartans and Persians since his writings have lasted since they were

When Xerxes sent his men through the hidden path around the mountain Leonidas still stood his
ground with his Spartans even though he allowed most of the troops to return home. This shows in
Spartan culture a man would rather die in battle than run and be dishonored. Leonidas was
superstitious about the oracle that determined a king shall fall from Sparta or Sparta itself will be

Spartans were versatile toward warfare.
Honor is shown throughout this narrative. Demaratus warns Xerxes about facing the Greeks in

conquer them or die trying. This not only shows how they seek honor but what was valued in
their society. When Xerxes sends heralds to each town for earth and water the perception of this

These connections give them a huge opportunity to communicate directly with consumers. In order
to maximize this opportunity, they should promote their existing events like the Tour de Fat bike
race and beer festivals across the country. New Belgium should also open a second brewery in the
eastern half of the United States to accommodate more growth into uncharted territories. Putting
the new brewery in an already established eastern market like Indiana would allow New Belgium
to solidify their hold on current markets while giving them the potential to grow into neighboring
territories. Introduction to the Northeast is critically important because as of now they are
ceding the whole region to rival competitors like Samuel Adams. The pluses to this second
brewery include additional capacity for production of beers, wider reach of distribution, and
ultimately higher sales due the territorial growth. The minuses include a possible loss of
company culture at the new brewery due to its distance from Fort Collins. Another minus would
be the loyalty current consumers have for regional craft beers already in the market. However
these minuses can be addressed by implementing a couple different measures. First, in order to
acquaint New Belgium products into new markets, the company should employ a specialized sales
team that will go into local bars and pubs and buy New Belgium products for locals. This will
begin the grassroots campaign which New Belgium

However, situations still arise when knowing what is the right decision, or deciding between
alternatives is not always clear, or is in fact difficult; other situations may leave you with feelings
of uncertainty, distress or angst; a situation may occur where you know what is right to do but
you feel pressure not to do it; other situations may occur where there are differing opinions at the
table based upon the individuals beliefs and principles or you encounter a unique situation in
which standard practices do not apply; or you simply ask yourself what would my family, friends
or public think of me if I make this decision. Ethical policies and procedures support board members
through these ethical dilemmas and toward ethically based solutions.
Steps for Ethical Guideline Creation and its Components
1 Appreciation of the importance and role that ethics and ethical guidelines bring to the
organization through education is an important first step to fully engage board members in this
framework building process. As mentioned above, at the organizational level we have
responsibilities to our hospitals, communities and other stakeholders so that we serve in their best
interests. To do this we must be adequately informed; avoid conflicts of interest; make decisions
fairly, objectively and transparently; mitigate risks; and properly account for financial accounting,
all within ethical best practices 2. There are many on line resources

Literary Techniques Used In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
What is the first thing you think of when you hear about a lottery? I thought someone would win
money. The Lottery is written by Shirley Jackson. It is based on a small town in 1948. I like The
Lottery because you think you know what s going to happen but the opposite happens. We tend to
think tradition is always good, but sometimes traditions are bad. Shirley Jacksonuses different
literary devices such as foreshadowing, irony, and tone. Shirley Jackson uses foreshadowing in her
story. The Lotteryis a bad thing because people get killed. When you hear the phase the lottery you
think good but the people in this small town know someone is going to die, and they are right. For
example other towns are getting rid of the lottery. Because

American Colonialism
Colonialism s effects are often noticed within certain ethnic and national groups. However, the
roots of the effects of colonialism extend far past the group; they begin in individual people.
Conrad s Heart of Darkness, Dickinson s I m Nobody! Who are you? and Cullen s Heritage each
display how the unique environment created through the clashing of cultures allows individuals to
redefine and discover themselves. Mr. Kurtzembodies the redefinition of oneself through
colonialism. He is transformed from a man known for his promise, [for] his greatness, [for] his
generous mind, and [for] his noble heart (Conrad 70) into a manipulative leader of the natives
because colonialism allows him to escape the strict expectations of English life. In African
colonialism, there are no rules. Kurtz takes advantage of this freedom to fundamentally change
himself, and he quickly sheds any semblance he initially has of... Show more content on

After his escapades in the heart of Africa, Marlow is described as Buddha like. Conrad s purpose
for describing him as such is because being surrounded by uncharted waters, unfamiliar territory,
and cannibals who show commendable amounts of resistance make Marlow more culturally
aware. He sees the complexity in the world; he realizes that Africa is more than just one of the
many blank spaces on the earth [that needs to be filled] with rivers and lakes and names (Conrad
4). This narrow perspective is one he cultivated as a young boy and has carried with him until he
travels to Africa. Similarly to Marlow, the speaker in Dickinson s I m Nobody! Who are you?
possesses self awareness. The speaker knows that she is a nobody, and, since the tone of the piece
is positive and unconcerned, she is comfortable with that fact. Following his stint in Africa, Marlow,
too, becomes more self aware through participating in

Optional Dispute Resolution
Mediation is a form of optional dispute resolution process. It can be applied in noncriminal cases
such as conflict resolution agreements, business, employment and so forth. To make mediation
process successful, all disputing parties must work cooperatively for resolution. The neutral
mediator is needed for this work who can negotiate the fair resolution of their dispute. Based on this
fact, this section wants to show some regulations that would be key factors to keeping mediator
mediationprocess on the way toward a fair and agreeable resettlement.
a.Decision makers have to participate: involving physically or participating in the mediation
process is very important aspect because it gives a chance to obtain a realistic understanding of the
conflict and also getting a chance to express own views, interest, agendas, and concerns.

The community and individual joint recognition of responsibilies are a positive value because
mediators would place the responsibility on building a new structure with maintaining a vital
mechanism for the direct expression and reduction of conflicts that would able to control in the
hands of the disputing parties (Berman, L. J. 2016). Discussion over mediation process is useful
when we considered three important aspects such as; preserving the important relationship,
allowing for sensitive negotiations to occur in private and allowing for negotiations to be
confidential. Finally, this paper would like to recommend an important mediation process that must
be discussed as advanced mediation course with understandable, convenient, comfortable,
trustworthy, motivate, justifiable, timely, affordable, confidential, healing, empowering and effective

The Beliefs Of Donald Trump And Trump Criticism
These are the NFL Players Protesting today amid Trump Criticism
Are Americans going about protesting their beliefs in the correct way? Standing during the
National Anthem has been a way Americans show respect for their country since the 1800 s,
therefore not standing is nothing short of disrespectful. Last year, former pro quarterback Colin
Kaepernick started kneeling during the National Anthem because he believed standing was social
and racial injustice and players today have followed his actions. After a statement from President
Trump on Sunday, September 24th, there has been nothing but more chaos and protests throughout
our Nation s professional football teams. All American citizens should know and understand that
protesting is perfectly acceptable but protesting and disrespecting something that is completely
irrelevant is not, there is nothing anyone can do about who the elected President is and you can t
take everything Donald Trump says seriously, but regardless of the situation, it is never acceptable
Kneel during our National Anthem. America is a country all about freedom, therefore those who
choose to protest have every right to do so but disrespecting something that has been a part of the
American tradition for over two hundred years is not the right way to go about it. Colin
Kaepernick started the trend of kneeling during the National Anthem last year and said he refuses
to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of

Chiquita Banana Case Study
From the case, we saw that the executives of Chiquita Banana in Columbia chose to pay the AUC
for protection from the FARC. The US government put AUC on its list of terrorist organization on
September 2001. Chiquita brand international is a pioneer in the globalization of the banana
industry, where bananas are not only a serious business, but it is a representation of economic,
social, political, and legal difficulties. From the perspective of Chiquita s Columbian subsidiary,
Banadex S.A., they first began funding AUC in 1997 after receiving threats directed at its property
and its employees. Chiquita was sending moneyto the AUC roughly every month in order to save
their employees and property. Being in charge of the business, it was the responsibility of the
company to put their employees safety first, and thus I feel they were in the right when they
started making the payments at first. This was not a safe time because during the period of mid
1960s, Columbian civil war and armed conflict were very prevalent in those areas. There was the
emergence of powerful drug cartels, which also increased the intensity of the conflict. Moreover,
there was the presence of FARC, which is a revolutionary guerrilla organization and were involved
in illicit and violent activities like extortions, bombings, kidnapping, as well as attacks on political
and military goals. AUC promised Chiquita Bananathe protection from the political and war world
around them. It made sense at that time

The American Dream and the Mode of Production in...
The American dream and the mode of production in Bordertown Prominent Karl Marx s theory
on the division of labor and the social class structure, as outlined by his concept of the mode of
production , directly relates to social equality, ideology, and social economic power. The mode of
production is understood to be the basis from which the majority of other social concepts, such as
the relations between social classes, political and legal systems, work relations, morality and
ideology, and many other phenomena, arise. These social concepts form the superstructure, for
which the economic system forms the base. This theory is also related to ordinary people s

The dreams of workers become shattered and, in reality, their lives become worse and more
dangerous than before they came to work for the factories build under NAFTA. For them
NAFTA is a new sanctioned legalized slavery. It is obvious that globalization and surplus labor
market in third world countries play a huge role in a decision for the United States Congress to
expand NAFTA throughout the Caribbean Islands, Central America, South America and even
further. The big American corporations, who lobby the Congress for the expansion of NAFTA,
are well aware that there is a lot of potential cheap labor in many countries throughout the region.
It is so beneficial and lucrative for the big American companies to build their factories there, that
they simply could not pass this opportunity to earn even more profits by exploiting poor people
in the third world countries. By saving billions in costs, the corporations are ready to destroy
dreams and lives of thousands of people by making them to work in inferior conditions for long
hours and little pay. There are a plenty of other illustrations in other parts of the world. For
example, about twenty years ago, when Lavtia became a sovereign country after the collapse of
Soviet Union, big European corporation came into country and purchased a large chemical factory

Alcohol Is The Biggest Killer Of Young People
Just as Vodka is the drink often associated with Russian culture, Guinness dark stout beer is the
drink often associated with Irish culture. This culture is often known for heavy drinking and
friendly pubs. Irish whiskey such as Jameson is proudly consumed and exported. Alcohol is the
biggest killer of young people in Ireland and many are impacted by their parents drinking. One
person dies every seven hours due to alcohol in Ireland. Nine out of ten public order crimes in
Ireland are alcohol related and one tenth of the health budget is spent on dealing with alcohol
related harm. Studies conducted at universities in Ireland found that drinking behaviors were
impacted by having fathers or older siblings with drinking problems. The environment the child
grows up in can be highly influential in the child s attitudes toward alcohol and what they think
is normal, and this applies in any culture. One of the most attractive parts of Irish culture is the
local pub. The pub has always been known as a place to get together, meet friends, and begin
romantic relationships. Tourists from all over the world flood to Dublin during Saint Patrick s
Day to walk the famed O Connell Street just to involve themselves in the binge drinking tradition
and pay a visit to the famed pubs so well known in Irish culture. The pub tradition is just as
prominent in Scottish and English culture. Underage drinking is a normal occurrence and widely
accepted in these cultures. Germany has a long history of

An Exploration Into Heat Propagation
This week I did an exploration into heat propagation. I chose to do applications on both a linear
item and a two dimensional item. I have very rarely chosen to do mathematical applications with
connections to physics, and I wanted to move out of my comfort zone. The question of this
exploration is what happens to the temperatureof an object when subjected to external constant heat
sources of different temperatures. My initial thought is that the item would reach a new
constant temperature. My initial hypothesis was wrong. In this model I leaned that even though
the heat sources are constant the temperature of the rod expands to a linear bridge from one heat
source to another. I chose to follow one of the examples from our text book since I have limited
background in physics. The first situation that I explored is how heat is transferred along a
linear metal rod with two stable heat sources, of different temperatures, at the ends (Neuwirth,
2004). The model starts with an assumption that each section of the rod will share 40% of the
difference in temperature with its adjacent sections with heat moving from warmer sections to
cooler sections. The model starts with the rod having a stable temperature of 10В°C. Let s start
with cell D4, see Sheet 3. D4 starts with a stable temperature of 10В°C. In the next period you
can see that D5 has a temperature of 30В°C. This is calculated by taking 40% of the difference of
its neighboring cells (.4(60 10)). This raises

ABSTRACT
Natural products are invaluable resource of anticancer drug discovery. They generally viewed as
safe but weak, within the framework of nanotechnology, they can serve as template for potent
anticancer drugs. We first evaluated the cytotoxic activity of different propolis extracts (water,
hydroalcohol, ethanol and hexane) in many cancer cell lines, then the solid nanoparticles from the
organic solvent extracts were prepared and their cytotoxicity was evaluated as well. Finally, 1,2
dipalmitoyl sn glycero 3 phosphocholine (DPPC) and 1,2 dioleoyl sn glycero 3 phosphocholine
(DOPC) liposomes were prepared from the most cytotoxic organic solvent extract and their
cytotoxicity was also evaluated.
All results collectively showed that hexane extract and its solid nanoparticles as well as its
liposomal form exhibited high cytotoxic activity. DPPC/DOPC hexane extract cytotoxicity was

King has commented on his writing style as an outcome of his father leaving him and his family

Augustus Caesar Legacy Essay
Augustus Caesar: The Caesar Legacy
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power. ,
said Abraham Lincoln. Power can be either be a wonderful thing in the hands of the right person,
or a dangerous thing in the hands of the wrong person. However, Abraham Lincoln draws the
conclusion on the fact of how power can even corrupt a person who has overcome many
difficulties in life, and may believe they can also withstand the substantial effect power can have
on a person. And if someone truly wants to understand the personality of someone, give them
power and see how they handle it. The idea of power and the abuse of power has been seen all

Augustus ended up getting married three times, although his first union, to Mark Antony s
stepdaughter Clodia Pulchra, was unconsummated.( Augustus. ) His second wife, Scribonia,
gave birth to his only child, Julia the Elder. He divorced Julia in 39 B.C. to marry Livia Drusilla,
who already had two sons Tiberius and Drusus by her first husband, Mark Antony s ally Tiberius
Claudius Nero. ( Augustus. ) The family tree became more complicated after Augustus had his
stepson Tiberius briefly marry his daughter, and then adopted Tiberius outright as son and
successor in A.D. 4. ( Augustus. ) Augustus Caesar died on August 19 in A.D. 14, his empire
secured and at peace. His reported last words were twofold: to his subjects he said, I found
Rome of clay; I leave it to you of marble, but to the friends who had stayed with him in his rise to
power he added, Have I played the part well? Then applaud me as I exit. ( Augustus. ) The Roman
senate declared Augustus, just like Julius Caesar, a god after his death. Augustus legacy lives on
even after his death. During his reign, he had created a time of peace, or Pax Romana, which
carried on at least a hundred years in Rome after his death. Massive buildings and temples

Basquiat Irony Of The Negro Policeman Analysis
Neo Expressionist, Jean Michel Basquiat created the Irony of the Negro Policeman in 1981, at the
age of twenty one. The painting itself was done with acrylic paint and paint stick on wood, with
the dimensions of 183 cm x 122 cm. The painting overall is a critique on members of the African
American race. With this painting, Basquiat is questioning how an African Americancan be a
policeman and work to enforce rules that were meant to enslave African Americans. Basquiat
intentionally paints little details to show how African Americans are controlled by the White
majority in America. For example, the figure itself is a black mass painted on a completely white

  • 2. What Is The Categorical Imperative Immanuel Kant s seminal work, the Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals and its subsequent On a Supposed Right to Lie because of Philanthropic Concerns , ushered in a new era of critical thinking on morality and will through his development of the categorical imperative. However, his thoughts behind the categorical imperative that is, that all moral concepts and thus the categorical imperative comes a priori in reason (Kant 22) are flawed in the belief of reason existing at all. That is to say that Kant s attempted proof to show that morals come a priori in reason is flawed in the assumption that humans can reason at all. As well, his attempt to show the categorical imperative in action (through his example of lying) is also flawed and essentially unable to be proved through the demonstration of the first point. Finally, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Immanuel Kant s categorical imperative states, Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law (30). • 3. The Themes Of African American Literature Within African American Literature, there are many themes that are relatable across many different forms of media. Paintings, for example, can have similar and contradictory themes to those that are used in African American Literature. Like authors with their literature, artists too take from their experiences and opinions and form a creation that is a reflection of what they believe. These creations, both literature and paintings, can contain certain topics that are quite alike. Ellis Wilson, and African Americanartist, created a painting that exhibits the theme of spirituality in his painting Prayerin the Field. This theme can be linked to at least three works from African American literature that broadens the way readers and spectators of art see spirituality. In Prayer in the Field, it is not difficult to see that spirituality is a major theme. There are three elements of this painting that support the theme of spirituality. The first element of this painting that one notices is the bright colors used. Ellis Wilson, whom is known for his expressive, emphasis of color, uses warm and inviting colors to create a scene that conveys complete tranquility (Ellis Wilson). Along with color, the next element is the four figures kneeling in the field praying. These elongated forms, which Wilson is also known for, are what bring in the spirituality aspect (Ellis Wilson). The tone of Prayer in the Field created by the colors is what gives these kneeling figures meaning. The warm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Girl Sat By Herself At A Dirty Lunch Table A girl sat by herself at a dirty lunch table eating quietly. She ignored the jeers shot towards her, and continued eating. She was facing the consequences of being different. How dare she have colored hair, how dare she dress different, how dare she have different tastes, and most of all, how dare she not conform. At least, that s how they think. If one does not conform, they get teased for being Weird, The girl, however, was subject to more extreme forms, social deprivation, hitting, shoving, tripping. Every day she was victimized, to the point where her confidence was in tatters. Every day she hid in her room, she cried for hours. Weekends were her Savior, Summers were her heaven. The bus was particularly hellacious. Every day, the same girl. Hair pulling, name calling, kicking. Every day it was the same girl. It didn t matter what she did, this girl, Steph, was always on her case. Steph even got off on the same stop as her. Though she often ran into the house before much more happened. One particular day, she learned something valuable. It was a lesson she would treasure for much of her life. It was a snowy day, one worthy of a heavy coat. On the bus ride home from school, one of her usual pursuers was silent. She took notice that they looked solemn. It was Steph, who waits for her parent every day, due to her house being far off and her parents picking her up after work. Today, however, the mother of the bullied girl was keeping an eye on Steph. She isn t moving... ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Mass Legalization For Unauthorized Immigrants A recent push to provide amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants in today s society has become a very contentious issue for Americans. While most United States citizens agree that illegal immigrants violate the basic core of fundamental immigration laws, there remains an unprecedented controversy regarding the possibility of granting amnesty to this growing sector of the population. While some citizens may argue that a mass legalization of immigrants could spark growth in the United States, others speculate that amnesty could create turmoil throughout the country. In the preceding testimony titled Mass Legalization for Unauthorized Immigrants Is a Bad Idea by the American Immigration Control Foundation, the author claims that a mass... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He points out, classic economic theory teaches that as supply of a commodity in this case, labor increases, the price will fall (AICF, 2016). The author was trying to solidify his point by appealing to the emotions of the reader. Clearly, workers in the United States would not want to see their hourly wage decrease due to an influx of migrant workers. Therefore, the writer was likely successful in expressing his viewpoint to the reader. The use of pathos in this paragraph also demonstrates that the author was passionate about his viewpoint. This rhetoric provides a strong and logical transition to the next premise of the argument. The author s second premise employs ethos and logos to justify the fiscal problems the United States will be forced to encounter by granting amnesty. Currently, the American government is trying to stabilize an ever increasing national debt and find long term solutions for national health care and social security. Adding uneducated and inadequately skilled workers to our population could burden our current entitlement programs and increase public debt. The author warns, granting amnesty or legal status to illegals will generate costs in Medicare and Social Security alone of $2.5 trillion above any taxes paid in (AICF, 2016). The use of logos and numerical data build a framework for the author s next few paragraphs. The writer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Media s Impact On Public Opinion The media has always had a powerful impact on public opinion in Britain. With several different types and means of communication, such as TV, newspapers, social networking and radio, it is difficult for the public to not be even slightly impacted by the opinion of thousands that surrounds them every day. However, with newspapers spinning stories to promote the party they favour (such as the Daily Mail in favour of Conservatives or the Mirror in favour of Labour ) or to disparage the opposition, is it clear there is any obvious influence from the media towards the public in relation to reporting on British Politics? Since January 2001, the total circulation of the UK s ten major national newspapers has declined . It could be said that the press choose to slander politicians to gain attention from the public to push sales, rather than inform the public on the real political issues at hand. For example, women s magazines discuss political issues such as abortion and the tampon tax , rather than commercial newspapers that publish stories such as scrutinizing politician Jeremy Corbyn for his subtle head nod at the remembrance Sunday cenotaph. In a declining market for their product, newspaper titles battle against each other for audiences and advertising revenue in their respective market segments, while the press as a whole is engaged in competition with other media sectors, such as the news via the internet, which makes it easier for the public to instantly engage with ... • 7. Social Identity Theory Paper groups therefore prefer acquiescence to disagreement and compromise to conflict (Forsyth, pg. 83). For example, we obliged to do what my captain asks and expect us to follow his orders, we cannot really complain or disagree since we are supposed to work together as a team. My group exemplified the social identity theory by working together and giving feedback to each other. In the textbook, the author wrote about the social identity theory, A theoretical analysis of group processes and intergroup relations that assumes groups influence their members self concepts and self esteem, particularly when individuals categorize themselves as group members and identify with the group (Forsyth, pg. 88). My team is a task cohesive, because we are committed to work together and to pursue our team s goal. Just like what it defined for task cohesion, Commitment to working together as a coordinated unit in the pursuit of group goals (Forsyth, pg. 144). As time passed, we have gotten a lot closer and more cohesive. We did pass most of the stages as I am typing up this essay. We have passed the stage of forming. • 8. Ohio Adverse Possession Laws Case Summary On January 1, 2008, four lawsuits involving Brad Pitt were filed in Ohio. The first was brought by Matt Damon against Brad Pitt to acquire quiet title to one acre of Brad s land that Matt had cleared and built a barn on. Looking into quiet titles and adverse possession laws will determine if Matt can get title to the land or not. The second case involves Snazzy Jeff, a paparazzo, seeing Maddox, Brad s son, dropped his PokГ©mon camera. Snazzy Jeff then came up and took the item hoping to find pictures to sell on it without informing Brad or Maddox. This may be a case of lost propertyor theft that needs to be evaluated. The third case involves Brad suing Jackie Philabaum at the request of his wife. At the parade, Brad took off his coat and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To acquire a quiet title to the land Matt Damon only needs 21 of those years. According to Ohio law, the person wanting to obtain title from adverse possession must have possessed the property for 21 years without the permission of the owner, but in clear knowledge of the owner ( Ohio Adverse Possession Laws ). There are four requirements listed to obtain a quiet title starting with using the land without permission of the owner. Then they must treat the land as their own, use the land in an obvious way and for a continuous period of time without sharing with others ( Ohio Adverse Possession Laws ). Matt Daman easily completes all four of these requirements. He never asked Brad for permission to clear the land and build a barn on Brad s land, but did. Brad repeatedly visited and inspected the property in 1986, 1996, and 2002, seeing the barn but never saying anything to Matt. Matt appears to have also used the land for a continuous period totaling 21 years before requesting title to the one acre of land. Brad may have a defense if he had talked to Matt at any time about the property and can prove it, but it will be a hard case to win for him. Matt will win this case for a quiet title to the one acre of land with his barn on it because of the time that had passed with no objection or other claims of possession by Brad. Many developing countries have moved into stage 3. The major exceptions are poor countries, mainly in sub Saharan Africa (Nigeria, Benin, Mali, Niger amongst others) and some Middle Eastern[ 9] countries, which are poor or affected by government policy or civil strife, notably Pakistan[ 10], Palestinian Territories[ 11], Yemen[ 12] and Afghanistan[ 13]. • 11. The Republicans Fight For Economic Justice And Security Ideologies are referred as a set of ideas and values that provides a base for organised political action. They justify and influence the different theories of society and human nature. Ideologies have a big impact on policy making. Democratic and Republican parties differ on their ideologies and values, therefore, impacting policy formulation. Democrats fight for economic justice and security in the U.S. and global economies. For example, fairness is the core principle for the Congressional progressive caucus. It also embodies national priorities that are consistent with the values, needs, and hopes of all our people, not just the powerful and the privilege. They want to invest in America and create new jobs in the U.S. by building more affordable housing, re building America s schools and physical infrastructure, cleaning up our environment, and improving homeland security. They also want to ensure working families can live above the poverty line and with dignity by raising and indexing the minimum wage. Whereas the Republicans believe they shouldn t be spending money on the homeless. Conservatives believe that giving away handouts decreases incentives to work and that, generally, welfare is the enemy of freedom. As a result, The House bill was an attempt to end the Housing Trust Fund. Housing is a human right and people should not have to live in poor conditions. • 12. A Research Study On Respiratory Therapy I often get asked the question of what is a Respiratory Therapist. In short, we are trained professionals who provide therapeutic modalities to patients suffering from pulmonary diseases. Seven years ago, I made a decision to pursue a career in Respiratory Therapy. I was attending college at the University of Louisiana in Monroe (ULM), but had no knowledge of what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It seemed all of my friends and fellow peers had their minds made up except for me. I chose to move back closer to home where I participated in a job shadowing activity. This enabled me to view many different options in the healthcare industry. To my surprise, I found myself to be most interested in the respiratory profession. I did a little research and found a Respiratory Degree Program at Louisiana State University in Eunice (LSUE). To be eligible for certification, a student must graduate with an associate or bachelor s degree from an accredited program. LSUE was an accredited program through Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). This junior college offered a three year program to obtain an Associate of Science in Respiratory Care. After finishing and achieving my diploma, I moved on to passing my state boards through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). This test involved two parts. Passing the first half granted one the title of Certified Respiratory Therapist. If the student scores high enough on this exam, they become eligible for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bottom was an aquatic environment and included a beta fish, elodea plants, and duckweed. This column was meant to be a model in how biogeochemical cycles, eutrophication, and Human introduced pollution affect real life environments. Throughout this lab, the group came to the consensus that the actions of humans, environments, and natural processes are interconnected. In addition, a deep understanding of all three factors must be acquired, in order to build a sustainable world for the future. The first factor we observed was biogeochemical cycles. • 14. Differences Between Minority And Minority Groups Abstract This study explores the relationships between majority and minority groups and their awareness of blatant and subtle prejudice, by priming either common or dual identity. It was hypothesized that due to their marginalization, minority groups will be more aware of both subtle and blatant prejudice and that those primed with dual identity will show a similar heightened awareness. The results demonstrated that majority groups were more aware of both types of prejudice, contradicting many previous results in this area. This study was conducted on an Australian population, making it unique, and possibly explaining the contrary results. However, it has also been suggested that the social stigma surrounding racism in our society has increased the awareness by majority groups, as they strive to be politically correct and avoid judgment by their peers. Another worthy discussion point is the internalization of prejudice by minority groups living in a majority dominated society. How Common and Dual Identity Can Influence Majority and Minority Awareness of Subtle and Blatant Prejudice In modern society, prejudiced ideas and values are present amongst majority dominated societies (Banaji Devos, 2005). Minority groups, and individuals with a heightened sense of cultural affiliation to their ethnicity, have been shown to be more aware of subtle prejudice than majority groups (Operario Fiske, 2001). Previous research in the area of racial prejudice has also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The anabolism and catabolism of most of the nutrients are in major performed by the liver. The protective effects of aqueous green tea extract have been shown on hyperglycaemia, hyperlipidaemia and liver dysfunction in diabetic and obese rat models [74]. Compared to diabetic control rats, total antioxidant levels were significantly increased in GTE supplemented rats. Inversely, malondialdehyde levels and AT(1) receptor were significantly lower in the GTE supplemented diabetic group [77]. Catechin and its derivatives in green tea are shown to be therapeutically very effective. Catechin has been shown to modulate the hepatic microsomal phospholipase A2 activities. It can change the hepatic phospholipid species in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats [78]. On the other hand epigallocatechin gallate, a constituent of green tea, represses the hepatic glucose production. EGCG also mimics insulin by increasing phosphoinositide 3 kinase, mitogen activated protein kinase. Furthermore, EGCG has been shown to regulate genes that encode gluconeogenic enzymes and protein tyrosine phosphorylation by modulating the redox state of the cell. These finding suggest that EGCG, or derivatives can perform as antidiabetic agent [79]. Green tea has also been shown in vivo to down regulate the hepatic gluconeogenic gene expressions of enzymes. INTRODUCTION In my paper I decided to write about Harley Davidson Motorcycles influence in Saudi Arabia and the Arab nations in general. During Dr. Coyle lecture he mention that Saudi Arabia woman used to dress as men to drive Harley Davidson motorcycles. First of all, it brought up to my attention how Harley Davidson has been a brand that impacted the global community. Especially, since I couldn t imagine an American product being sold in the part of the world where is presume most countries hate Americas beliefs and lifestyle. It was even harder to imagine Harley Davidson being sold in Saudi Arabia which represent freedom, adventure, and individuality. Without asking for their opinions or reasons about their behaviors, I eliminated potential Hawthorne effects which is people changed their actions once they realized that someone observed them. I paid attention to the number of people waiting together to determine the relationship between the waiting and arriving people, their actions while they waited and their reaction once they met their person. According to my observations, people brought the whole family with them if the person they waited for was part of a family and they were alone if the arrived person was one s boy/girlfriend. They had similar emotions such as being tired and bored while they waited. No one had any positive facial expressions but they refused to sit and wait in the back. With college graduates now owing more than $1.5 trillion in debt and nearly five million Americans in student loan default, borrowing for higher education is quickly spiralling out of control. Universities are one of the best places for wholesome instruction, but what good are these institutions when no one can pay for their resources? In order to alleviate the problem, many politicians have proposed plans to make all public college tuition free for students under a set income threshold. Although it may seem like just the solution that is needed, making college tuition free, even for a select group of students, is not the best option and would fail to solve the fundamental cause of the student debt crisis in the first place. ... To simply waive $58 billion would necessitate a dramatic increase in government spending to compensate, and, by extension, a dramatic increase in taxes. Not all students at all colleges have troubles with debt, either. The majority of students who have problems paying off their student loans are those who attended small for profit schools or community colleges, as those who attend more expensive schools, despite borrowing more, often end up with higher salaries once they enter the job market. Moreover, what would be done about those who have already graduated from community college with debt on their shoulders? Political Socialization is a particular type of political learning where people develop the attitudes, values, beliefs, opinions and behaviors that are conducive to becoming a good citizen in their country. With political socialization there are many factors that are present when these views are formed, many are very apparent like historical events, and a clear effect such as gender, race, and socio economics status. My own political views were formed the same way as everybody else were. Through the first people I came to know, which were my parents. My parents taught me what the difference between a democrat and a republican were, what role the president plays in our government, and about our legislative branches which was based around their own views. When growing up my parents encouraged self respect and individuality so, this taught me to think about things own my own and how I felt about them. The introduction of the internet, texting, and social networking has changed the way individuals communicate amongst each other. For this reason, many researchers are interested in how gender plays a role in an individual s concepts of new age dating, flirting, hook up culture, breaking up and relationships in relations to new media. This paper will argue that new age media has enhanced communicationand mitigates the miscommunication hypothesis to an extent. The existence of these cultural norms continue onto the youth and impact their sexuality and behaviour. That being said however there is a distinction to the modern day with new age media. Acquaintances can now be better established through digital profiles, knowledge can be readily shared, thoughts and feelings are better formulated, and distance between the parties allows for better managing of the situation. This is especially true in regards to breaking up within relationships. The distance aspect allows the individual to disassociate from the other person with minimal knowledge to the outcome. Ambiguity and social habits remain the same with new age media but given the explicit, slow response and distant nature of new media in comparison to in person discussion allows for a potentially safer, manageable and controlled environment. While this conclusion outright ignores falsifying personalities and information completely, such as in predatory behaviours, the argument that communication between two parties with romantic interest is enhanced with the use of new age media has significant ... What Are Xerxes Attitudes Towards The Spartans Primary Source Essay #1 Today when people talk about the Spartans they think about the movie 300 that was created that shows 300 Spartan warriors facing Xerxes army of 150,000 men. What they do not know are the actual real accounts that happened during the time of this particular Persian invasion. When Herodotus wrote the Histories he mentions this battle in great detail. His thirst for knowledge gives us a better perspective of Spartans and Persians since his writings have lasted since they were written. Leonidas was superstitious about the oracle that determined a king shall fall from Sparta or Sparta itself will be destroyed. The people of Sparta must have had much intelligence to understand how to create this choke point of the other army. Many of the different battles even after Thermopylae show that the Spartans were versatile toward warfare. Honor is shown throughout this narrative. Introduction to the Northeast is critically important because as of now they are ceding the whole region to rival competitors like Samuel Adams. The pluses to this second brewery include additional capacity for production of beers, wider reach of distribution, and ultimately higher sales due the territorial growth. The minuses include a possible loss of company culture at the new brewery due to its distance from Fort Collins. Another minus would be the loyalty current consumers have for regional craft beers already in the market. However these minuses can be addressed by implementing a couple different measures. I have very rarely chosen to do mathematical applications with connections to physics, and I wanted to move out of my comfort zone. The question of this exploration is what happens to the temperatureof an object when subjected to external constant heat sources of different temperatures. My initial thought is that the item would reach a new constant temperature. My initial hypothesis was wrong. In this model I leaned that even though the heat sources are constant the temperature of the rod expands to a linear bridge from one heat source to another. I chose to follow one of the examples from our text book since I have limited background in physics. The first situation that I explored is how heat is transferred along a linear metal rod with two stable heat sources, of different temperatures, at the ends (Neuwirth, 2004). The model starts with an assumption that each section of the rod will share 40% of the difference in temperature with its adjacent sections with heat moving from warmer sections to cooler sections. The model starts with the rod having a stable temperature of 10В°C. Let s start with cell D4, see Sheet 3. D4 starts with a stable temperature of 10В°C. In the next period you can see that D5 has a temperature of 30В°C. This is calculated by taking 40% of the difference of its neighboring cells (.4(60 10)). This raises ...
