During WWII, the US government and propaganda emphasized several themes to mobilize support for the war effort. These included promoting war bond sales and victory gardens to fund the war, harnessing industrial production to supply allies and create millions of new jobs, and instituting rationing to conserve materials for the war despite rising incomes. Propaganda also played on fears of invasion and portrayed enemies as monstrous while racism against Japanese Americans increased.
