Endangered Species Act Essay
Endangered Species have been increasing as of recently and society has started questioning how the
world protects it s endangered species. The world s biodiversity is starting to decline and future
generations will never be able to appreciate some of the species that live today. Endangered species
have been increasing due to habitat loss, poaching and exotic species. The United States has protected
its endangered species with the Endangered Species Act, but wildlife groups and federations have
started to wonder its strength. Since the amount of Endangered Species in the world has increased, the
world needs harsher punishments for those who negatively affect endangered species and have more
protection for them.
The Endangered Species Act is one of the main ways that endangered species in the United States are
protected. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) of 1973 is a key legislation for both domestic and
international conservation. The act aims to provide a framework to conserve and protect endangered
and threatened species and their habitats ( Endangered Species Act ). This act is for the endangered
species of the United States and was signed by President Nixon. It has lost much of the promise it
once had and no longer has as much success in protection of endangered species. Other countries have
implemented their own versions of the Endangered Species Act and have had similar success.
However laws and rules affect the success of the Endangered Species Act. ... Show more content on

These laws prevent society from committing certain actions that would negatively affect the
endangered species. The National Wildlife Federation also works to have new laws implemented into
the ESA and while additionally trying to have laws removed. Most ESA laws regarding illegally
killing endangered species result in a large fine. The Endangered Species act has saved many species

Desertification As A Global Problem
Desertification is defined by the UN as the persistent degradation of dryland ecosystems by human
activities, including unsustainable farming, mining, overgrazing and clear cutting of land and by
climate change ( Desertification ). Desertification can also be defined as a process that reduces
biological productivity and the intensification of desert conditions (Hellden 372). Although less
publicized, desertification is an issue that requires international cooperation as the victims of drought,
famine and the numerous environmental problems of dry lands are over 250 million, and more than
one billion people in over 100 countries are at risk ( Desertification as a global problem 1).
Additionally, desertification tends to affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although no quantifiable targets were specified in the agreement, which contributed to its
ineffectiveness, Goal 15 of the UN s SDGs has a target to combat desertification, restore degraded
land and soil, including land affected by desertification, drought and floods, and strive to achieve a
land degradation neutral world by 2030.
Part 2: Desertification Challenges
Desertification is an environmental problem difficult to address due to its wide definition and
extensive forms of manifestation. According to Warren, the inadequacies of the definitions of
desertification, even among the scientific community, has led to a credibility gap and a dismissal of
the issue relative to other environmental problems (12). Secondly, there are logistical issues, as
sustainably managing dry lands would involve a bottom up approach and the inclusion of local
populates affected by desertification in the decision making process (13). Implementation of the
convention was also complicated by the use of National Action Programmes (NAPs), which required
identification of causes and solutions to desertification in each country, large research undertakings for
which countries have unequal amount of resources to

The Unemployment Rate Within The City Of Newark
The unemployment rate within the City of Newark has been moving in the opposite direction when
compared to the national rate. The country as a whole, continues to see a decline in unemployment
while Newark numbers have started to climb. A number of variables are key players in contributing to
the employment struggles the city faces, including voluntary unemployment, lack of
skills/training/education, and acts of crime or criminal history affecting a person s employment
eligibility. As disheartening as it may be, the issue is one that isn t being ignored. On the state, city,
and community level, there are several programs and services to help combat the rising unemployment
level affecting the City of Newark. One could hope, with the dedication and support of the
government and citizens alike, that Newark will soon follow the same trend as the rest of the country
at combating unemployment. To solve the unemployment issue in Newark, government takes actions.
Department of Labor and Workforce Development provides unemployment insurance. People who are
unemployed can claim weekly benefits by filing the forms online. What s more, N.J. is first to qualify
for federal funds for unemployment. New Jersey received nearly $207 million in federal stimulus
money to pay unemployment claims in 2009 (The Associated Press). The loan is free of interest
through 2010. It also has programs called job Seekers and Career Development. The first one is to

The Starry Night By Anne Sexton
The Starry Night Poem Analysis The Starry Night, written by Anne Sexton, makes me think about
raging fires, destruction, death, hell, and demons. The word choice in the poem is very colorful, yet
overwhelming and dark, which perplexes, yet astonishes the reader. This poem feels very depressing,
but on the contrary, active and raging with life. The sky is alive and intense, yet the town is silent and
solemn. The idea of a monstrous death is welcoming and yearned for by the speaker. The poem feels
like it is about the speaker s strong desire for a gruesome death; it feels very surreal. The black haired
tree, as depicted in Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night (the painting this poem was inspired by), is
compared to a drowned woman in the hot sky (3). Sexton then goes on to say that the night boils (4);
the usage of words centered around heat is significant because heat can also refer to turmoil, agitation,
and bustling, which from we can infer that the speaker is irritated as well as vexed. From another
perspective, we can infer that Sexton is enforcing that the sky itself is hot and boiling, implying here
that she wants to drown in boiling water, just like the woman that the tree looks like. ... Show more

Each aspect that she desires to die without are uniquely significant. She wishes to die without a flag,
which we can infer is the symbolic white flag of surrender. This means that the speaker does not want
to die at the hands of another physical person, but to something greater than her. No belly (16)
represents the lack of a reproducing body; she does not want to die and have reproduced, as this would
cause even more pain on the child s behalf. The speaker aspires to die without a cry, or a call for help.
She is fully committed to her decision to kill herself, and she will not turn

The Importance Od Ethics And Social Responsibility
Ethics and social responsibility are very important irrespective of the community in which you
conduct business in. All stakeholder groups are benefited from the use of ethical behavior. For one,
stock holders benefit as the financial numbers used to evaluate and engage in business activities are
legitimate. These numbers will therefore provide a solid foundation in which to evaluate the merits of
a particular activity such as a merger, acquisition, dividend, stock buy back and so forth. Consumers
benefit as they are not mislead in regards to purchasing decisions. These builds trust as the brand will
become synonymous with ethics further expanding the market share of the company. This will then
benefit the shareholders even further as more consumers purchase products from this trusted company.
The community benefits as the company contributes to the community through the profits garnered
from sales (Business, 2011). As such, all stakeholder groups benefit and flourish. Social responsibility
is no different in this regard. Companies, especially during tough economic circumstances want to
demonstrate their commitment to the communities in which they operate. Usually, these commitments
translate into high sales figures and better customer loyalty. Social responsibility also engages
associates on a personal level as they can volunteer and contribute to causes pertinent to their beliefs.
These increases employee satisfaction which ultimately helps improve productivity.

An Opportunity At The 4 + 1 Program
An Opportunity in the 4+1 Program
In reality, each person decides their destination, whether they want to take the path of success or not. I
have decided to take the path that I perceive to be correct in life ever since I was a little kid, who was
starting to understand about life, until now. I started developing my career goal since I was a teenager
in middle school. As time passes, my goals have changed from wanting to be a police officer, to now
striving to be a judge. My family has been very inspirational to me; they have been there for me in
positive and negative situations. When I achieve my career goals in life, with the support of my loved
ones and Arizona State University (ASU), I will bring back to my community a role model for others
to follow. In ASU, I am planning to pursue a bachelor s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. I
have been looking forward to reaching my goal in life so it is a matter of putting in much effort and
never giving up, no matter what the situation might be.
I will be a triumphant when becoming what I have intended to be since I was in middle school, a
lawyer who fights for justice. For me, attending college/university is not what will completely make
me succeed in life; however, if I want to be more successful and have more open doors for jobs, I have
to pursue a higher education. Therefore, my biggest goal is to achieve a Bachelor s degree, and as time
passes, my desire for earning my degree strengthens with the support

The Ubiquitous Mobile Essay
The Ubiquitous Mobile
Snap!Snap!Snap! Your privacy has just been invaded by someone who has taken a photo of you in the
dressing room, with their new camera mobile phone! Is this what the latest technology intended to
provide for us? I don t think so, and this is why I think mobile phones can be a really distracting, and
in this case, an offensive tool, despite being a powerful form of telecommunication. These always,
new up and coming devices can cause financial hardships, by people changing life style habits just to
accommodate the purchase of them. Most people are aware of this, however their immutable minds
doesn t stop reminding them to send that extra SMS message or dial that extra number. Mobile phones

The financial expenses, which have accumilated from mobile phones, have been quite dangerous to
particular people. Like pouring water out of a leaking bottle, money has been wasted out of many
people s banks and financial accounts because of mobiles. Not only can mobile phones be financially
challenging but they can also be physically dangerous. Recent studies have shown that the high level
of radiation coming through the antenna while speaking on the mobile, can critically affect your body
by alpha radiation particles mutating a cell, which goes on to divide and divide, causing a malignant
tumor cancer. So, when all s said and done, mobile phones do have its negative side, and in my
opinion it s negative side is in complete dominance over its positive attributes. These types of phones
can dramatically change people s life styles or even terminate them!
Life styles have often been altered immensely through many life changing events such as: marriage,
births and deaths, diseases, disorders and the like. But however, none of these examples really were in
people s will power, and mobile phones are in other people s hands and in people s strength in mind.
So, is it our latest generations which want to modify their good life style habits in order to make
mobile phones their number one priority, because of their eye catching features and miraculous

Texas State Board Of Pharmacy
Statewide regulation of pharmacists in Texas began in 1907 with the passage of the Texas Pharmacy
Act, creating the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. The purpose of the act is to promote, preserve and
protect public health, safety and welfare through effective control and regulation of the practice of
pharmacists and licensing of pharmacies engaged in the sale, delivery or distribution of prescription
drugs and devices (Senate Bill 82, 30th Legislature, Regular Session). Before the Pharmacy Act was
enacted, pharmacists were regulated locally by district boards, each composed of three pharmaceutical

Solutions To The Salutary Neglect Of The American Colonies
Great Britain s longest ruling monarch before Queen Victoria, King George III ascended the British
throne in 1760, during turbulent times in which, brought about several oppressive and abusive actions
towards the thirteen colonies. Salutary neglect: a policy of non interference, enabled the American
colonies to prosper by trading products. Nevertheless, when the French and Indian War had finally
come to an end, the British had severe debt and was left with possible solutions which only revolved
around taxing the colonies. Furthermore, the Royal Proclamation: a document that set out guidelines
for European settlement of Aboriginal territories, had infuriated the colonies and they protested that
the Proclamation deprived them of land known as their God given right. In 1774, the British
Parliament passed harsh and unbearable laws known as the Intolerable Acts which were meant to
punish American colonists for the Boston Tea Party and other protests. Overall, the colonists were
very wrathful regarding all acts and did not want the British Empire ruling over them. To summarize,
in the short span of thirteen years, the colonies went from being loyal subjects of King George III to
becoming rebels capable of overthrowing the most dominant military nation on earth. To begin with,
salutary neglect was an unauthorized, but a long lasting British policy of avoiding harsh enforcement
of parliamentary laws indicated to keep the American colonies obedient to Great Britain. The policy

The filters consist of finely crushed coal, about one meter in depth, and sand, half a meter in depth.
This provides the final step in the treatment process.
Process flow step 6 Chlorination/dechlorination Chlorine is added to the effluent to disinfect any
remaining microbiological pathogens; this takes at least half an hour. The effluent is then treated with
sulphur dioxide gas to remove excess chlorine, which would be harmful to the river ecosystem. The
effluent is then ready for discharge into the river.
Process flow step 7 Solids separation and incineration The sludge and scum, removed in step 2 of the
process, are dealt with separately. The sludge is stored in a sludge holding tank where it is then
pumped to the centrifuge at a controlled rate. Polymers are added to the sludge to aid in the thickening
of the sludge during this process. Water is separated from the sludge by spinning in a centrifuge to
form a thick, muddy substance known as cake , a process known as dewatering . The cake is then
conveyed to the furnace where it is incinerated at 750 1000°C to produce Agri Ash. The scum,
however, is stored in a heated tank to thicken it prior to its transfer to the furnace, where it is also
incinerated. Approximately 700,000 litres of sludge is treated each day to produce 47 tonnes of
dewatered solids. After

Application Of The Input Output Model
92 Application of the input output model has been common in recent virtual 93 water studies. The
method has enabled a systematic assessment of virtual water flows 94 across all the sectors in an
economic system (Guan and Hubacek, 2007; Lenzen, 2009; 95 Wang and Wang, 2009; Zhao et al.,
2010; Zhang et al., 2011; Lin et al, 2012). These 96 studies have found that virtual water flows
associated with the trade of goods and 97 services often do not coincide with the regional water
endowments. So far, the 98 literature conducting a comprehensive analysis incorporating both real and

The Indigenous people of Australia have resided there for over fifty thousand years [31], marking
them as the oldest existing race of people on planet Earth [5]. One of their common nicknames,
Aborignal , actually means first or earliest known [5]. During nearly all of their history Aboriginal
Australians were abused and persecuted, particularly in the midst of wars such as WWII. The
Indigenous Australians migrated to the Australian mainland from another continent during the last
great Ice Age, moving across then then much smaller sea by boat [5] or land bridges [36]. This was
one of the first known migrations or travel over sea in human history [5]. Because Aboriginals kept

However, most Aboriginals possessed very few possessions, and the ones they did have were highly
multipurpose. They made sure they could take advantage of all of the resources they had [5]. Because
they had no interaction or connection to any other cultures for them to borrow from, [5] the Aboriginal
Australian culture is one of the few that was able to evolve completely isolated from outside influence.
This did, however, give birth to many smaller cultures within the individual Indigenous tribes, as
evident from the two hundred fifty plus different languages created within and by Aboriginal culture
[01]. There were approximately five hundred Indigenous tribes, and never was there a unified
Aboriginal Australian nation [31]. Each tribe had its own territory [31], and believed it was given to
them by the spirits during Dreamtime , the sacred era of prehistory during which the spirits roamed
and shaped the continent and an essential part of Indigenous Australian religion [5]. They had

Letter To A Union Soldier
I was doing my daily chores, that I do everyday. Not knowing of what was ahead of me. I sat down
with my family and the table and had a nice breakfast, Sausage and a small piece of bread with my
wife, son and daughter. Than I was off to do my chores. I would clean the horse pin, and work on our
farm out in the backyard.Than soon after that I went to the market to get some food for dinner and 3
tiny gifts for my children and wife, for a nice surprise, by the time I got back it was nearly dark and
my wife, Marry was preparing our dinner. Right when we all sat down we heard a slight knock on the

If you have the responsibility to plan and select an inventory of roofing areas to receive roof coatings,
the timing and priority of the installation is an important step. First you need information, to make

that could lower the coating service life or substantially increase the roof system preparation. All
buildings age and deteriorate. Its also common to have deferred maintenance, a flaw in roof design

The company has developed a top down structure and is basically organized by the top management.
The top management is not the stereotypical group of businessmen. These people value each and

Gender Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird
People everywhere think you are just being judged by the color of your skin or your religion, but
deciding a person can be way more than that. You can be judged for as much as helping an old lady
cross the street or wearing a bucket hat on a warm summer day. In the novel by Harper Lee, To Kill A
Mockingbird, Maycomb can be seen as a town where racism seems as if the distinct and primary type
of discrimination. This paper will prove that the perception of blacks isn t the only and fundamental
form of discrimination. This argument will be shown through gender discrimination, the bias against
people with mental illnesses, and the perception of societal class.
Throughout the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, there is a strong sense of gender discrimination. First,
Scout is mocked against for being a Tomboy. A woman in the story is believed to need to act, speak,
and dress a sure way to be considered a lady. Scout shies away from the perceived way a lady needs to
act and therefore is not considered to be a lady. Characters in the story like Aunt Alexandra and Ms.
Stephanie give Scout a hard time for not acting a way a lady is supposed to act in Maycomb, and they
make it their mission to fix it. They say things like It would be best for you to have some feminine
influence (Lee 140) and Don t talk like that in front of them. (172) and If you never start wearing
dresses, you will never become a lady (191.) Scout is discriminated against the entire book for being a

Types Of Reproduction And Asexual Reproduction
Introduction:
We explored the reproductive system. It is important because without it all living things would
become extinct.
The two different types of reproduction are sexual and asexual reproduction. Types of asexual
reproduction include binary fission, budding, and fragmentation. Budding is when another organism
grows out of the parent cell, and separates once it s fully developed. Fragmentation is when an
organism splits into more pieces which each form into their own organism. Binary fission is when the
parent cell copies its genetic material and then splits into two. The advantages of asexual reproduction
are that it produces a lot of offspring, takes little energy, and is speedy. The disadvantage is that the
offspring are clones. Types of sexual reproduction include external and internal fertilization. External
fertilization means that the eggs are fertilized outside of the two parent organisms, while internal
fertilization happens inside of the two parent organisms. The advantages of sexual reproduction is that
the offspring vary genetically. The disadvantages are that there are fewer offspring, it takes longer, it
requires more energy, and a partner must be found.
Gametogenesis is the production of gametes. There are two kinds of gametogenesis, oogenesis and
spermatogenesis. Oogenesis happens in the ovaries, and makes eggs. It only happens during fetal
development, and produces two polar bodies and one ovum. Spermatogenesis happens in the testes,
and occurs

Motherhood, the Needle and Thread
Think of one person you can turn to for advice, expect love and warmth from, or tell you who you
should be dating. In most cases one s mother or a mother figure would spring into their minds.
Motherhood is and underlying theme that affects all characters in both Persepolis and A Thousand
Splendid Suns. Essentially, it highlights the unfair treatment directed towards women in their
countries. During the course of both novels all women, even those who were not mothers, are
burdened with the strict morals imposed upon them. For instance, Marjane had issues with staying true
to herself and Laila had difficulties with raising her daughter Aziza and son Zalmai. These religious
and governmental restrictions enforced upon women by men facilitated in painting a clear portrayal of
sacrifice, strength and love that women and mothers needed to attain in order to survive. Despite the
prevalence of a masculine dominant society, the true importance of motherhood and femininity
prevails; binding the novels Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Relative to both novels,
motherhood can be assigned an all encompassing definition. Motherhood is the feeling of warmth,
cultural memory, and freedom; it is willing to sacrifice anything for the betterment of the child. One
does not have to physically bare an offspring to be considered a mother. To embrace the characteristics
of motherhood means presenting ultimate love and affection and using complete agency when raising
the child. Maternity

How Did Mazzini Contribute To The Unification Of Italy
The identity of Italy was changing with different political powers and views clashing over the ideas of
unification. From 1830 1870, people began to voice their opinions of the divided nation, raising much
conflict. Italy, before its process of revolution began, was mostly ruled by foreign powers and absolute
monarchs. The country s citizens decided they wanted a change in their government and freedom from
their rulers. In the beginning, the revolt was not organized and resulted in failure until they united and

Italy was finally seeing a revolution of its government and a unification of the nation. Italy s fight for

The Standard Set Of `` Acceptable `` Rules And...
The standard set of acceptable rules and expectations for men and women are significantly different.
Gender creates disputes and often is the driving force in many of today s conflicts, but this is an issue
that has been seen as far as history is recognized. In Sean O Casey s The Three Dublin Plays, the ideal
of this gender conflict transpires creating a powerful argument against political disputes. O Casey was
one of the most political writers of his generation, exploring the boundaries between literature and
politics. One of his works, Juno and the Paycock, shows the influence of gender conflicts within the
political sphere. O Casey highlights gender as a major theme by using reality and the characteristics of
the ordinary lives faced in Dublin during the 1920s. This time period notes the upheaval of the Irish
Civil War in 1922. Juno and the Paycock utilizes the the inferiority of gender inequality to show its
standstill in the progression of history and politics within Ireland. It is clear the ideal of gender
conflicts is one that is universally noted. It is seen in many instances throughout history, causing much
of society to recognize such differences. In this recognition individuals are only understanding how
men and women are being treated differently, rather than further exploring where the conflicts lie
between genders. It is important to understand why and where these differences in gender stems from,
as it helps to further understand the progression of

The ultimate test was when we found out that there were two companies who are also selling rain

approaching our competitors we were capable of screening their product, so we were aware and strong

The Role And Role Of Public Administration
Public administrators play a huge role in the government and are the bridge connecting the
government and the public. They are the public s voice and ensure that we as people, have our basic
needs met. This does not go without issues and dilemmas, which are faced almost daily. Multiple areas
of a public administrator s job need to be taken into account such as public interest, the dilemmas of
privatizing government functions, ethical obligations and administrative responsibility. On the other
end of the spectrum, some believe that the needs of the people cannot be accuratley guaged because
our world is ever changing, which would make the job of a public administrator impossible. When
public administrators are chosen for their job, it is believed that they are the best for the job and that
they will hold the public s interest at heart. Public interest is that which is the best for the majority.
While not all decisions will make everyone happy because, that is impossible; public administrators
ensure that the people s best interest is being heard. This group of people make sure that regulations
and services are passed that will help the people. While these might not be the most relevant and up to
date issues, public administrators are placed to make sure the basics such as social security and where
our tax money goes is in favor of the needs of the people. Public administrators don t get a lot of credit

Symbols In The Alchemist By Paulo Coleho
Symbols in The Alchemist Paulo Coleho uses the symbols of objects, words, and emotions to explore
the theme of The Alchemist. It surprised me, it takes somebody 4 hours to read The Alchemist,
because of how many symbols it has. Symbols range from glassware, personal legends, and being lost
in life. Coleho perfected his symbols in this story. In the first half of the novel, it starts off with the
boy talking about why he wanted to be a shepard. It was because he could travel and see the world.
One symbol I noticed is, at the start he didn t care how long he took to do activity s. As he kind of
stumbled upon the path of life all he did was travel and care for his sheep. I feel that he was somewhat
lost. After he made a trip to a town, he visited a woman who interpreted dreams. The woman scared

before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After having traveled for a very long time the boy is now working for a crystal merchant. As we
continue to read about Santiago Coleho incorporates more symbols, including the desert, and many
more. The crystal glass ware the merchant has, symbolizes fragility and clarity. The cobra symbolizes
danger and strength. In The Alchemist the alchemist draws a circle around the cobra calming it down.
not to worry said the alchemist he won t leave the circle (122). The circle obviously set boundaries for
the cobra. The boy continues to push for his personal legend on his journey towards the pyramids. To
the boy it represents the end of his adventure, But the pyramids symbolize the ancient and inscrutable.
The Alchemist had already found his personal legend and knew this. Lastly, One more symbol I am
going to go over are the hawks. The hawks symbolize aggression, aggression can be tamed. A hawk is

Essay about Views of Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo...
Views of Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
1. Introduction
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet has the high profile as the love tragedy everybody knows
[1]. Although it is regarded as the ideal of romantic love there are many other (quite unromantic)
views represented in the play, too. In this term paper I will try to give a survey of the different views
of love in Romeo and Juliet. First of all there are Romeo and Juliet, the star cross d lovers (Prologue)
who establish a quality of love, of life intensively lived, that becomes its own value [2]. Apart from
these two main characters and their view of love there are in general five other attitudes towards love:

2.1. Romeo s and Juliet s view of love: Love as the reason for living
The star cross d lovers Romeo and Juliet both fall in love at first sight and are determined to marry
just after their first encounter. Their love is the most precious thing Romeo and Juliet have in their
lives so both are ready to die for each other and chose to die in the end [...] because each knows that
he or she cannot live without the other, and knows this as a simple, literal truth to be acted on at the
first opportunity [3]. Romeo as well as Juliet regards his banishment as death. Although the lovers are
hoping to see each other again they are willing to die after Tybalt s death/their wedding night.
After their separation due to the banishment both kill themselves in order to be together again: Juliet
drinks Friar Laurence sleeping potion in order to die and be with Romeo again when she awakes, and
Romeo drinks the poison to be reunited with Juliet, whom he thinks lifeless, in death. When waking
up in the monument and finding her love having committed suicide, Juliet kills herself for the reason
of a reunion after death, too. The lovers even drink to each other when they drink their potions.
Up to here Romeo and Juliet seem to share the same view of love but on having a closer look there are

Desmond Doss is one of the most famous U.S conscientious objector in all of U.S military service

has been shown throughout the ages in television, documentaries and now in the latest 2016 movie
entitled Hacksaw Ridge after the real life spot in Okinawa. The movie depicts the true story of U.S
serviceman and conscientious objector Desmond Doss in his journey to Hacksaw Ridge. At First
Desmond Doss was not fond of people making films or being portrayed in any sort of media because
of the inaccuracies that these films might would portray of him because he was deeply focused on his

  • 2. Endangered Species Act Essay Endangered Species have been increasing as of recently and society has started questioning how the world protects it s endangered species. The world s biodiversity is starting to decline and future generations will never be able to appreciate some of the species that live today. Endangered species have been increasing due to habitat loss, poaching and exotic species. The United States has protected its endangered species with the Endangered Species Act, but wildlife groups and federations have started to wonder its strength. Since the amount of Endangered Species in the world has increased, the world needs harsher punishments for those who negatively affect endangered species and have more protection for them. The Endangered Species Act is one of the main ways that endangered species in the United States are protected. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) of 1973 is a key legislation for both domestic and international conservation. The act aims to provide a framework to conserve and protect endangered and threatened species and their habitats ( Endangered Species Act ). This act is for the endangered species of the United States and was signed by President Nixon. It has lost much of the promise it once had and no longer has as much success in protection of endangered species. Other countries have implemented their own versions of the Endangered Species Act and have had similar success. However laws and rules affect the success of the Endangered Species Act. ... The National Wildlife Federation also works to have new laws implemented into the ESA and while additionally trying to have laws removed. • 3. Desertification As A Global Problem Desertification is defined by the UN as the persistent degradation of dryland ecosystems by human activities, including unsustainable farming, mining, overgrazing and clear cutting of land and by climate change ( Desertification ). Desertification can also be defined as a process that reduces biological productivity and the intensification of desert conditions (Hellden 372). Although less publicized, desertification is an issue that requires international cooperation as the victims of drought, famine and the numerous environmental problems of dry lands are over 250 million, and more than one billion people in over 100 countries are at risk ( Desertification as a global problem 1). Additionally, desertification tends to affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although no quantifiable targets were specified in the agreement, which contributed to its ineffectiveness, Goal 15 of the UN s SDGs has a target to combat desertification, restore degraded land and soil, including land affected by desertification, drought and floods, and strive to achieve a land degradation neutral world by 2030. Part 2: Desertification Challenges Desertification is an environmental problem difficult to address due to its wide definition and extensive forms of manifestation. According to Warren, the inadequacies of the definitions of desertification, even among the scientific community, has led to a credibility gap and a dismissal of the issue relative to other environmental problems (12). Secondly, there are logistical issues, as sustainably managing dry lands would involve a bottom up approach and the inclusion of local populates affected by desertification in the decision making process (13). Implementation of the convention was also complicated by the use of National Action Programmes (NAPs), which required identification of causes and solutions to desertification in each country, large research undertakings for which countries have unequal amount of resources to ... • 6. The Unemployment Rate Within The City Of Newark The unemployment rate within the City of Newark has been moving in the opposite direction when compared to the national rate. The country as a whole, continues to see a decline in unemployment while Newark numbers have started to climb. A number of variables are key players in contributing to the employment struggles the city faces, including voluntary unemployment, lack of skills/training/education, and acts of crime or criminal history affecting a person s employment eligibility. As disheartening as it may be, the issue is one that isn t being ignored. On the state, city, and community level, there are several programs and services to help combat the rising unemployment level affecting the City of Newark. • 7. The Starry Night By Anne Sexton The Starry Night Poem Analysis The Starry Night, written by Anne Sexton, makes me think about raging fires, destruction, death, hell, and demons. The word choice in the poem is very colorful, yet overwhelming and dark, which perplexes, yet astonishes the reader. This poem feels very depressing, but on the contrary, active and raging with life. The sky is alive and intense, yet the town is silent and solemn. The idea of a monstrous death is welcoming and yearned for by the speaker. The poem feels like it is about the speaker s strong desire for a gruesome death; it feels very surreal. The black haired tree, as depicted in Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night (the painting this poem was inspired by), is compared to a drowned woman in the hot sky (3). Sexton then goes on to say that the night boils (4); the usage of words centered around heat is significant because heat can also refer to turmoil, agitation, and bustling, which from we can infer that the speaker is irritated as well as vexed. From another perspective, we can infer that Sexton is enforcing that the sky itself is hot and boiling, implying here that she wants to drown in boiling water, just like the woman that the tree looks like. ... • 8. The Importance Od Ethics And Social Responsibility Ethics and social responsibility are very important irrespective of the community in which you conduct business in. All stakeholder groups are benefited from the use of ethical behavior. For one, stock holders benefit as the financial numbers used to evaluate and engage in business activities are legitimate. These numbers will therefore provide a solid foundation in which to evaluate the merits of a particular activity such as a merger, acquisition, dividend, stock buy back and so forth. Consumers benefit as they are not mislead in regards to purchasing decisions. These builds trust as the brand will become synonymous with ethics further expanding the market share of the company. This will then benefit the shareholders even further as more consumers purchase products from this trusted company. The community benefits as the company contributes to the community through the profits garnered from sales (Business, 2011). As such, all stakeholder groups benefit and flourish. Social responsibility is no different in this regard. Companies, especially during tough economic circumstances want to demonstrate their commitment to the communities in which they operate. Usually, these commitments translate into high sales figures and better customer loyalty. Social responsibility also engages associates on a personal level as they can volunteer and contribute to causes pertinent to their beliefs. I have decided to take the path that I perceive to be correct in life ever since I was a little kid, who was starting to understand about life, until now. I started developing my career goal since I was a teenager in middle school. As time passes, my goals have changed from wanting to be a police officer, to now striving to be a judge. My family has been very inspirational to me; they have been there for me in positive and negative situations. When I achieve my career goals in life, with the support of my loved ones and Arizona State University (ASU), I will bring back to my community a role model for others to follow. In ASU, I am planning to pursue a bachelor s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. I have been looking forward to reaching my goal in life so it is a matter of putting in much effort and never giving up, no matter what the situation might be. I will be a triumphant when becoming what I have intended to be since I was in middle school, a lawyer who fights for justice. For me, attending college/university is not what will completely make me succeed in life; however, if I want to be more successful and have more open doors for jobs, I have to pursue a higher education. This paper will prove that the perception of blacks isn t the only and fundamental form of discrimination. This argument will be shown through gender discrimination, the bias against people with mental illnesses, and the perception of societal class. Throughout the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, there is a strong sense of gender discrimination. First, Scout is mocked against for being a Tomboy. A woman in the story is believed to need to act, speak, and dress a sure way to be considered a lady. Scout shies away from the perceived way a lady needs to act and therefore is not considered to be a lady. Characters in the story like Aunt Alexandra and Ms. Stephanie give Scout a hard time for not acting a way a lady is supposed to act in Maycomb, and they make it their mission to fix it. They say things like It would be best for you to have some feminine influence (Lee 140) and Don t talk like that in front of them. • 29. Types Of Reproduction And Asexual Reproduction Introduction: We explored the reproductive system. It is important because without it all living things would become extinct. The two different types of reproduction are sexual and asexual reproduction. Types of asexual reproduction include binary fission, budding, and fragmentation. Budding is when another organism grows out of the parent cell, and separates once it s fully developed. Fragmentation is when an organism splits into more pieces which each form into their own organism. Binary fission is when the parent cell copies its genetic material and then splits into two. The advantages of asexual reproduction are that it produces a lot of offspring, takes little energy, and is speedy. The disadvantage is that the offspring are clones. Types of sexual reproduction include external and internal fertilization. External fertilization means that the eggs are fertilized outside of the two parent organisms, while internal fertilization happens inside of the two parent organisms. The advantages of sexual reproduction is that the offspring vary genetically. The disadvantages are that there are fewer offspring, it takes longer, it requires more energy, and a partner must be found. Gametogenesis is the production of gametes. There are two kinds of gametogenesis, oogenesis and spermatogenesis. Oogenesis happens in the ovaries, and makes eggs. It only happens during fetal development, and produces two polar bodies and one ovum. Spermatogenesis happens in the testes, and occurs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Motherhood, the Needle and Thread Think of one person you can turn to for advice, expect love and warmth from, or tell you who you should be dating. In most cases one s mother or a mother figure would spring into their minds. Motherhood is and underlying theme that affects all characters in both Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Essentially, it highlights the unfair treatment directed towards women in their countries. During the course of both novels all women, even those who were not mothers, are burdened with the strict morals imposed upon them. For instance, Marjane had issues with staying true to herself and Laila had difficulties with raising her daughter Aziza and son Zalmai. These religious and governmental restrictions enforced upon women by men facilitated in painting a clear portrayal of sacrifice, strength and love that women and mothers needed to attain in order to survive. Despite the prevalence of a masculine dominant society, the true importance of motherhood and femininity prevails; binding the novels Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Relative to both novels, motherhood can be assigned an all encompassing definition. Motherhood is the feeling of warmth, cultural memory, and freedom; it is willing to sacrifice anything for the betterment of the child. One does not have to physically bare an offspring to be considered a mother. To embrace the characteristics of motherhood means presenting ultimate love and affection and using complete agency when raising the child. Maternity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are the public s voice and ensure that we as people, have our basic needs met. This does not go without issues and dilemmas, which are faced almost daily. Multiple areas of a public administrator s job need to be taken into account such as public interest, the dilemmas of privatizing government functions, ethical obligations and administrative responsibility. On the other end of the spectrum, some believe that the needs of the people cannot be accuratley guaged because our world is ever changing, which would make the job of a public administrator impossible. When public administrators are chosen for their job, it is believed that they are the best for the job and that they will hold the public s interest at heart. It surprised me, it takes somebody 4 hours to read The Alchemist, because of how many symbols it has. Symbols range from glassware, personal legends, and being lost in life. Coleho perfected his symbols in this story. In the first half of the novel, it starts off with the boy talking about why he wanted to be a shepard. It was because he could travel and see the world. One symbol I noticed is, at the start he didn t care how long he took to do activity s. As he kind of stumbled upon the path of life all he did was travel and care for his sheep. I feel that he was somewhat lost. After he made a trip to a town, he visited a woman who interpreted dreams. The woman scared the boy as she started to pray. In The Alchemist the alchemist draws a circle around the cobra calming it down. not to worry said the alchemist he won t leave the circle (122). The circle obviously set boundaries for the cobra. The boy continues to push for his personal legend on his journey towards the pyramids. To the boy it represents the end of his adventure, But the pyramids symbolize the ancient and inscrutable. In this term paper I will try to give a survey of the different views of love in Romeo and Juliet. Their love is the most precious thing Romeo and Juliet have in their lives so both are ready to die for each other and chose to die in the end [...] because each knows that he or she cannot live without the other, and knows this as a simple, literal truth to be acted on at the first opportunity [3]. Romeo as well as Juliet regards his banishment as death. Although the lovers are hoping to see each other again they are willing to die after Tybalt s death/their wedding night. After their separation due to the banishment both kill themselves in order to be together again: Juliet drinks Friar Laurence sleeping potion in order to die and be with Romeo again when she awakes, and Romeo drinks the poison to be reunited with Juliet, whom he thinks lifeless, in death. When waking up in the monument and finding her love having committed suicide, Juliet kills herself for the reason of a reunion after death, too. The lovers even drink to each other when they drink their potions. Up to here Romeo and Juliet seem to share the same view of love but on having a closer look there are some differences in their ...
