Essay on Tanglewood Case Study
Staffing Strategies In reviewing Tanglewood case study 1, we evaluate all aspects of the company in
order to determine which strategic staffing decision would potentially be suitable for meeting the
organizations goals and staffing requirements. They re 13 different staffing strategies which are
distributed into two categories. Each one of the strategies is designed in a format of this one verses
that one concept, making it so one would decide which would be best suited for the company. The two
strategic staffing decision categories are staffing levels and the other is staffing quality. Staffing levels

When hiring quickly it will limit the area, a person can go into by only having a need positions. This
can create the fact of someone being over qualified for a position but having to put them in that
position due to not enough positions available that the individual is qualified for. It would be best for
Tanglewood to focus more on acquiring talent internal vs. externally because most of the people they
hire would be the type to be looking for career progression for a long term career and they would not
have as much of a need to hire a large amount of workers at one time or the need to create new
specific entry level types of jobs. A core or flexible workforce is both needed for Tanglewood because
of the size of the company. A core workforce to maintain the integrity of the store year round and
knowing the company s values and mission to help keep it running smooth. A flexible workforce is
great to cover down during the seasonal time of shopping. This will help have associates available to
work at all different hour s verses only available at this time. It is important for a company to have
flexible core workers as well to help cover down when and where needed to maintain the customer
satisfaction that its customers would need. Deciding to hire or retain employees can be challenging for
Tanglewood because the need to get the right people in the right job in order to maintain the right

Reoccurring Themes Of Evil In The Fellowship Of The Ring
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines evil as morally reprehensible and causes harm . Some will
debate that evil is an inherited trait, while others will argue that evil is acquired over time. Throughout
J.R.R. Tolkien s first part of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring , there are reoccurring
themes of evil and corruption, most of which surround the One Ring, and can vary depending on who
possesses the Ring. While both natural evilness and developed evilness are demonstrated, The
Fellowship of the Ring suggests that evil is not inherited, but acquired over time. Evil is prominent
throughout The Fellowship of the Ring . Shortly after Boromir suggests that they use the Ring against
Sauron, Elrond responds saying that the Ring, is altogether evil (267). The Ring was crafted with the
sole purpose of evil. This is seen in the inscription on the Ring which says, One ring to bring them all
and in the darkness to bind them (50). This script shows that the ring was created to draw other to
darkness , which is often used to symbolize evil. While the Ring itself is evil, it is the only truly evil
thing in Middle Earth: For noting was evil in the beginning. Even Sauron was not so. (267).
Throughout The Fellowship of the Ring , there is a close correlation between the one ring and evil, as
Elrond says, The very desire of it corrupts the heart (267). When Gandalf the Grey suggests that Bilbo
leaves the ring behind before he goes on his journey, Bilbo

Character Analysis of the Elder Mrs. Winning of Flower Garden
The oppression of tyranny breeds either rebellion or its counterpart, conformity, as was the case for
the character Helen Winning in the story Flower Garden by Shirley Jackson. The static, intrinsic traits
of the Elder Mrs. Winning, which are influential to the outcome of the story, are developed in detail by
Jackson s use of description and dramatic scenes. The elder Mrs. Winning is characterized as a woman
with an authoritative, domineering personality who is unyielding in her convictions.
The elder Mrs. Winning is a sovereign matriarch in her household. After a morning breakfast, as the

Winning s superiority. When Howard, the son of the elder Mrs. Winning , enters the house as he
[comes] in from the barn , he simply acknowledges his wife, the younger Mrs. Winning, with a nod ;
in contrast, he more affectionately [kisses] his mother (496). By including this detail about the distinct
ways the two women are treated by Howard Winning in her description, Jackson illustrates the
premiership the elder Mrs. Winning occupies in her household. Moreover, Jackson describes how
Helen Winning [tried] to anticipate her mother in law s gesture of serving (496) which indicates
further the preponderant and overruling qualities of the elder Mrs. Winning.
The elder Mrs. Winning is a nightmarishly overbearing mother in law. The opening paragraph is a
base for understanding the forcibleness of the elder Mrs. Winning s character. Jackson recounts that,
After living . . . together . . . the two . . . had grown to look a good deal alike, as two women will who
live intimately together, and get things done around the house in the same manner (490). By providing
this description Jackson discloses the profound extent of the influence that the elder Mrs. Winning has
had on the identity of her daughter in law. The elder Mrs. Winning is so overpowering that Helen has
methodically adopted her lifestyle and has even gained her looks. The high handedness of the elder
Mrs. Winning is first made evident when Jackson describes that the younger Mrs. Winning has invited

An Encouragement for Small Businesses
Encouragement of Small Business
Introduction
The Congress has the authority to impose requirements for the federal procurement policies. Through
the acquisition process, the government procures goods and services from diverse players. The process
consists of three phases that are, acquisition planning and need recognition, contract formation and
contract administration. Federal acquisition regulation (FAR) regulates the activities of the
government in the procurement process. The system does not regulate the activities of the private
sectors, but it affects the operation of private firms incorporated into the federal government by way of
solicitation and reference of contracts. Congress, on the other hand, imposes requirements on private
sectors whereby, agencies of the government obtain goods and services from private individuals or
sectors. One of these authorities comes to be when congress exercises its mandate by promoting
subcontracting and contracting with small business entities (Columba, Gambacorta Mistrulli, 2010).
Declaration of these measures by congress ensures that small business entity gets a chance to contract
with government agencies. Congress should aid, assist, protect, and counsel small business entities to
ensure their survival in the market. Congress mandate ensure that there is fair competition in the
procurement market within agencies and in ensuring that there is fair proportion set aside for small
enterprises. Small entities need not only be

Zoos Are A Great Place Of Entertainment
First of all, what are zoos? Many people said that zoos are a great place of entertainment because they
can take their families to see lots of exotic animals that you only get to see in books or on TV. Other
said that zoos could be described as some collections of animals found in nature. Of course, all these
opinions are true because for me going to the zoo has been always a great place to learn and also have
fun in company of my family. In addition, I ve found that all animals in the zoo have different
personality. For instance, the last time I went, and I spent a lot of time watching the gorillas. I could
noticed how all four gorillas that I watched are totally different. For example, Zuri the silverback
gorilla show had been the leader of the group because he was the largest gorilla and have strong arms
that make him to walk upright. However, there have been both good and bad point or opinions about
zoos. In brief, for me zoos have more advantages than disadvantages because the purposes behind
keeping animals in detention are associated with positive educational needs, research, recreation and
conservation. But the question whether animals should be kept captivated or not will be always in a
debate.
First, zoos provide education to society. The role of zoos nowadays places a greater emphasis on
education and conservation than merely recreation. Many school children visit zoos to know more
about endangered species and the different ways to conserve them. The signposts

Dangers Of Food Poisoning
Each year there are 76 million cases of food poisoning in the US and most go unreported. Food
poisoning and foodborne illnesses are more of a threat than many people think. The CDC reports that
about 325 thousand people are hospitalized each year due to food poisoning and 5,000 people die
every year. For many people they do not even know that they are eating tainted or contaminated food.
The biggest thing that people can do is to wash their foods thoroughly and cook foods all the way
through. Harmful microbes can only be correctly killed using heat, whether it is washing your foods
correctly of cook them all the way. Food borne illnesses are on the rise and they need to be stopped so
that people can eat food without the worry of whether what they are putting in their mouths is tainted
or contaminated (Food Poisoning).
One dangerous and common foodborne illness that many in the US are affected by each year is E.
Coli. E.coli or Escherichia coli is a bacterium that is found in the intestines of mammals and birds.
About .1 percent of all bacteria in the intestines is E. coli, most E. coli help with digestion and

The Life and Accomplishments of James Madison
James Madison was born in Port Conway, Virginia on March 16th, 1751. Madison received an
education at the college of New Jersey and graduated in 1771. He studied Latin, geography, and
Philosophy. In 1774 he joined the local committee of safety which was a patriot group that monitored
the actions of the local militia. Two years later Madison became a delegate in the Virginia convention
and took part in the framing of the Virginia constitution. During the general election for delegates in
the state assembly Madison lost to a candidate who gave out free whiskey to the voters. In 1778 he
was appointed to the Virginia Council of State which directed the affairs of the state during the
Revolutionary War. When James Madison was twenty nine years old he became a member of the
Continental congress. For three years Madison pushed for legislation to strengthen the newly formed
confederation of states. He stated that military victory required giving the central government more
power but many of the delegates did not want a strong central government. Madison was able to
convince Virginia to give it s lands to the Continental congress with the help of Thomas Jefferson. In
1784 Madison returned to the Virginia House of Delegates and debated with Patrick Henry who
wanted to tax citizens that supported Christianity and also disliked proposed laws that would set
religious tests for office.

Damon s Corruption In The Mower Against Gardens
In The Mower Against Gardens , Damon the Mower acts as a critic of man s corruption stemming
from the Fall of Mankind, serving as the pastoral hero of Nature against the Artifice. Damon believes
that the naturalness of the meadows is being threatened with corruption, typified by the artificiality of
the ornate enclosed gardens. Due to this seduction and perversion of Nature, frustration is intensely
portrayed, with satisfaction taking a backseat. Damon defines himself as a demigod like figure in an
unfallen Eden in Damon the Mower , a single individual in a special relationship with Nature. He
interprets reality in ways that favour him, though his refusal to relinquish his illusions leads to
frustration. By acting out his frustration in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of what we know about Damon comes from Damon himself, who interprets reality in ways that
favour him. He is self glorifying, claiming he is known through all the meadows , and that Nature
serves him at his beck and call. Damon claims to have an intense relationship with Nature, yet much
of what we know of Damon seems to contradict this. In fact, Damon never really considers Nature as
anything but a reflection of his own thoughts and feelings; and he interprets natural events in a way
favourable to himself. In any case, it is evident that Damon did not expect Juliana s rejection, and,
being unable to add Juliana to his world, he blames her for everything in the world that goes against
his idealisation of the world. Nature in the Mower Poems were part of Damon s psyche, and when his
illusion of his grandiose and of the world is threatened by Juliana, he blames her for scorching and
(burning) the fields and mower , and making animals go mad . Because he believed in the absolute
beauty of Nature and the countryside, he gives questionable gifts to Juliana, a snake , chameleons and
oak leaves tipped with honey dew . These natural gifts reflect Damon s belief in the rejection of art
and artifice, and embracing only the natural. However, it is clear that these gifts were made with little
consideration as to Juliana. Such artless objects, after all, would be terribly difficult for Juliana to
identify as gifts. His unrequited love led to aggression misdirected against the natural world,
depopulating the ground ; with the s sounds in sighing , scythe and woes used in repetition to illustrate
the sorrow of Damon. Blaming Juliana for Nature s transformation and his unhappiness, his self
centred blame led to intense internal conflict, as he is unable to relinquish his illusions, and unable to
connect with Nature. Damon seems to be unable to comprehend

Christians Should Study Greek Philosophy
Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been many different ideas on how a Christian
should interact with the world in which they lived. From the biblical writings of The Gospel according
to Matthew, and The Acts of the Apostles, to the non biblical writings of On Philosophy, and The
Prescription Against Heretics, the ideas of Christianity were brought together. The two non biblical
documents highlight the arguments of whether or not Christians should study Greek philosophy. The
books from The Bible showed that Christian beliefs focused on how one should primarily seek their
ultimate reward or satisfaction in the Kingdom of God (spiritual), rather than in the here and now
(temporal). Christianity, as it began, was a faith that emphasized the importance of acting charitable
towards the less fortunate, while understanding that it was ones duty to worship God and spread that
love for Him to those who didn t believe. In the Gospel According to Matthew, Jesus said, Blessed are
the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus said this, he showed how the Kingdom of
Heaven was welcomed for anybody, not only those who were more fortunate than others. Jesus then
went on to explain how those who were humble and those who showed righteousness would enter the
Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus also told the people how they should spread his word everywhere and
teach those to examine all the things He commanded them. In The Great Commission speech, Jesus
inspired His

A Research On Telehealth And Telemedicine Is A Tool For...
Telehealth Consultation Telehealth is becoming a widely used tool for seeking medical care, or
consultation. The world of technology we live in is ever growing, making healthcare easily accessible
through telehealth. While many different organizations define telehealth using different words, they all
have the same idea. I found in my research that telehealth and telemedicine are defined differently.
Definition
Per the healthit.gov website, telehealth is different from telemedicine, because it refers to a broader
scope of remote healthcare services than telemedicine. While telemedicine refers specifically to
remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non clinical services, such as provider training,
administrative meetings, and continuing medical education, in addition to clinical services. According
to healthit.gov, the Health Resources Services Administration defines telehealth as the use of
electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long distance clinical health
care, patient and professional health related education, public health and health administration.
Medicare defines it as Telehealth (or Telemonitoring) is the use of telecommunications and
information technology to provide access to health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation,
supervision and information across distance.

The Time For Designing The Heart Of The Robot Essay
After the decisions regarding the body structure, it s the time for designing the heart of the robot.
Similar to many RC cars and other mini robot vehicles, using DC motors with a great package of
speed reducer gearbox would be the best method to run the vehicle. In this section, I express a brief
description of the DC motors and the chosen speed reducer gears, then next chapter would include
more details regarding the relation between the motors and the power moves the vehicle with all the
accessories. Also, it should be strong enough to supply the enough digging force when supporting the
arm. Mabuchi Motor Inc. is one of the major DC motor produces located in Japan. According to the
manufacturer s official website, Mabuchi Motor was born and has grown together with a dream, the
dreams of children, adults, technicians, and our customers. They have continued to move forward and
grow, responding to the hopes of many people. (Ref#4) However, their products couldn t fulfill my
needs and I decided to go with another more economic DC motor from RadioShack. (Fig#)
Investigating the method to turn the vehicle left or right motivates me to use two of these DC motors
simultaneously. One would actuate the right side and the other one controls the left wheels.
Aforementioned motor works with 9, 12 and 18V DC power. However, as it will be mentioned more
in details later, the power supply contains four 3.7V (total 14.8V) A123 batteries. RadioShack DC

Nationalism and Imperialism Whether it s nationalism and/or imperialism we are affected by these
angles all through out our lifetime, there are benefits to both nationalism and imperialism such that
each can favorably support their nations respectively. These two features can be very powerful forces
that can bring a nation together in its greatest time of need but may be able to subjugate another
nation. By definition, nationalism is a patriotic feeling; an extreme case of nationalism is when a
person and/or country feel a strong sensation of dominance over one or more countries. In contrast
imperialism can be defined as a strategy that encompasses another countries authority and influence
amongst mediation or by using military obligation. Nationalism and imperialism both benefit society
through their social, political and technological aspects. The social traits pertaining to nationalism
result in a nations unity usually formed through a significant event or in extreme cases of patriotism.
Similarly, imperialism is moreover affected by social attributes that may not be one specific event, but
occurred over a longer period of time. Nationalism creates a united front that in time produces a well
governed nation For example the United States of America is a nation that goes to extreme levels of
promoting patriotism. The government advertises to the people to put the country first before them.

A Summary Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Medieval literature is a passion that has enveloped me since I read Chrétien de Troyes
Lancelot during my freshman year. In this Arthurian romance, Chrétien represents Lancelot as
conflicted a chivalrous knight whom one expects to find only in myth, yet in violation of the code of
honor, desirous of his lord s queen. I began thinking of the tales of the Arthurian knights as more than
legendary as potentially credible historical accounts. Soon, I wrote a paper on
Gawain s rhetoric as a means to elicit specific responses in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
Gawain s rhetorical strategies and their manipulations ultimately lead him to a deeper personal
recognition and self acceptance. This early exercise alerted me to the pleasures of working with
languages of the Middle Ages. My academic interest in Celtic Studies was piqued when I learned of
Ogam stones in my
Literature in the Natural World class. Ogam is not a spoken language, rather, a code of inscriptions
that gave the Irish language an alphabet and supplied the Irish people with a means of writing on
stone, wood, and other natural elements with relative ease. Ogam is also found in many manuscripts,
where it is both written and read in a manner different from that employed when it is found on stones.
As an aspiring academic in Medieval Literature, I recognize that knowledge of the literature of
medieval cultures is vitally important. Irish literature, including
Ogam inscriptions and manuscripts, is therefore essential to

John Keats s On First Looking Into Chapman s Homer
An English Romantic poet by the name of John Keats was known as one of the best romantic poets of
the 18th century for his excellent perspective on nature. As well as the relationship between man and
nature. He allows readers to truly visualize nature in their mind when they read his work. John Keats s
poem, On first looking into Chapman s Homer was written in 1816. The sonnet tells the reader about
how Keats compares his experiences to reading about Homer s novel dealing with Odysseus s
experience of adventures around the world. Keats gives the reader a sense of how going to so many
places does not mean that you have truly seen the world as a whole. You have a take a step back and
look at the bigger picture to embrace and understand there is so much more beyond what you have
already seen. There are parts of the world that you have not explore fully or discover. On first looking
into Chapman s Homer is known as an Italian or petrarchan sonnet. An Italian or petrarchan sonnet
contain an octave and a sestet. There are two rhyme schemes in the octave that goes as a, b, b, a, a, b,
b, a. As shown in the first four lines of the poem, Much have I travell d in the realms of gold, And

Canada, as we currently know it, is a country that was built by settlers. Through numerous amounts of
settlements and constant immigration from locations all over the world, Canada s populations have

Community Policing Era Paper
Policing in the United States has evolved throughout history. The best way to understand it is by
becoming familiar with its history. There have been three policing eras in the United States and they
were the Political Era, the Reform Era, and the Community Policing Era. The Community Policing
Era is the form that is presently used in the United States. Approximately 350 years ago, the first law
enforcement system was started in Boston. These were the early days of American law enforcement.
When the colonist settled there in 1630 they appointed constables. Constables were like a sheriff and
in 1631 they appointed watchman an a few volunteers. They made sure that the streets were safe,
reported fires and apprehended and arrested anyone violating the law. The early policing era was
based off the English structure. The early police system was reactionary and they only responded
when a request was made by a victim or witness. In the last half of the nineteenth century, the Sheriff

also established bicycle patrols. The use of the vehicle was still in place as well but they are not just
driving around in their vehicles like in the Reform Era. This brought back one of Peele s principles
which involves creating a more involved relationship with the community and this in turn resulted in
the community assisting the police in deterring crime. This era is focusing on building relationships

National Public Health Performance Standards Program
In 1994 the Core Public Health Functions Steering Committee at the Center for Disease Control
(CDC) released a list of 10 Essential Public Health Services ( The Public Health System, 2014). This
was an essential step towards making established public health organizations accountable and giving
new programs a framework on which to develop from. This list outlines the foundation for the
National Public Health Performance Standards Program. The ten essential public health services
provide a way to assess the impact of these programs. This paper will explore and analyze case studies
and the essential public health services they represent.
Case One surrounds the issue of water fluoridation. The process of water samples being submitted for
testing each month was described, along with which public health sectors the results are reported to.
Krisberg states that the parameters for water fluoridation levels were first established in 1962. She also
reports that the level of fluoride established at that time was 1.2 milligrams per liter. In 2015 this level
was reduced to 0.7 milligrams per liter (Krisberg, 2015).
Many of the ten essential public health services can be seen in the details of the first case study. The
instance described in case one correlates most closely to the sixth essential public health service to
enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety (American Public Health
Association, n.d.). This case study was a prime example of how the public

Strategic Direction And Global Security Essay
The general capabilities required by the Joint Force in 2025 will be a global surveillance and strike
(GSS) network, increased naval and air investments and ensuring cyber technology outpaces
adversaries. Based on the current U.S. strategic direction and global security environment these
capabilities are necessary. Satellites and cyber technology will be part of the design of the GSS
system. The U.S. military will be able to strike quickly and remain engaged for increased periods
while additional forces move to the area of concern using the GSS system. Increased Navy and Air
investments in submarines, ships, aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV s) and unmanned
underwater vehicles (UUV s) is critical. The Navy and Air Force allows us to project power to areas of
the world far from our base of operations. Air power also enables us to provide support for ground
forces while providing deterrence and denial of enemy forces. Cyber investments and security are
critical because cyber technology will increasingly be the engine that runs our future military and
allows us to attack adversary s cyber networks and infrastructure. The U.S. Army will see a reduction
in tactical armor units while the U.S. Marine Corps remains at the current level of equipment and
personnel. After each capability are associated Risk.
The GSS network will be a vital piece for rebalancing the force in 2025. It is a network tracking and

The Debate Surrounding Universalism And Cultural Relativism
1 Discuss the pitfalls of the debate surrounding universalism and cultural relativism. Which seems to
be stronger in Law and in Humanities and the Social Sciences. You can give some of your personal
experiences if you wish.
Answer:
Cultural relativism is the perspective according to which every culture has its norms, standards,
values, traditions, culture and custom. No culture is superior to any other culture. In this way, the
entire moral codes of the world going to be grounded because everyone seems to behave according to
their cultures. According to the cultural relativist approach, culture is an exclusive source of the
legitimacy of a moral rule and right. On the other hand, Universalism proposed that an entire world is
belong to one culture that is why culture or society is irrelevant to the legitimacy of moral rules and
rights (Arat, 2006).
According to the proponents of the postmodernism and feminism, there is also some distinctions in the
basis of the relativism. They strongly condemn the discrimination in the society on the basis of race
and ethnicity. They contend that subjective relativism is more superior to the cultural relativism.
According to this perspective, life has more value than any other cultural norms of the society. Since,
society become more progressive and developed if there is more value of life than anything else.

Alcatraz Prison Or Island
Alcatraz was a very famous prison located on a island in the San Francisco bay. It was used for many
different things over the years. All different types of people also stayed there, and not just the
prisoners. Life at the prison was bad in some ways but not as bad as you think. Many did try to escape
and failed, but some did succeed. However with every land some wanted it as much as we did.
Everyone knows of Alcatraz as a prison, but how did it become what it is today? The word or title

Essay On Agricultural Subsidies
The distribution of wealth ensuing after agricultural subsidies recognizes the exacerbation of income
disparities and denotes the nature of government issues subsidies to divert funds from taxpayers to

$134,164, while the average of all US households was which was 77 $75,738 which was 77% of the

Income inequality increases as those who do not receive subsidies are disproportionately burdened by
agricultural requirements without adequate funding to provide for needs and thus increases levels of
imparity in the world as a whole. High levels of inequality prevent not just economic prosperity, but
also the quality of a country s institutions and high levels of education. According to International
Monetary Fund staff economists, if the income share of the top 20 percent (the rich) increases, then
GDP growth actually declines over the medium term, suggesting that the benefits do not trickle down.
In contrast, an increase in the income share of the bottom 20 percent (the poor) is associated with
higher GDP growth. The poor and the middle class matter the most for growth via a number of
interrelated economic, social, and political channels. Economist Joseph Stiglitz revealed in 2009 that
both global inequality and inequality within countries prevent growth by limiting aggregate demand
which is an economic measurement of the sum of all final goods and services produced in an
economy, expressed as the total amount of money exchanged for those goods and services. The
lowering of aggregate demand in the economy induces a range of detriments such as a loss of
sustainability, innovation due to a lack of production, and increased rates of inflation as a result of

nineteen thirties traveling with a circus. This man is Jacob Jankowski. Jacob Jankowski is around

Jankowski is living in the assisted living home, the circus comes into town. This brings back

Musical Dependency The 2002 film, The Pianist directed by Roman Polanski focuses on the hardships
of a well known, local concert pianist, Wladyslaw Szpilman. Wladyslaw Szpilman is played by actor
Adrien Brody, who does an excellent job portraying both the warmhearted side of Szpliman and the
desperate struggling side we see later on in the film. The film is based on Szpilman s book, The
Pianist where he discusses true events he underwent during the German takeover of Warsaw. He was

He is even limping because he was hurt just by jumping over a five foot fence. Szpilman has gone
through every obstacle to be thrown at him until he breaks. Stumbling through this huge house he
finds a single can of food and eagerly begins to search for something to open it. He finally comes
across a fireplace poker. As he tries to stab his way into the can it falls to the ground and the camera
enters an extreme close up on it. By using a close up we have nothing else to look at and nothing else
to think about aside from this fallen can. Suddenly we see feet and the camera slowly tilts upward
creating suspense until it reaches an extremely calm yet serious German officer. The officer speaks,
What are you doing here? At first, Szpilman at a loss for words, in fear does not answer. Who are you?
the officer asks, Understand?
When Szpilman assures him he does the officer repeats, What are you doing?
I was... trying to open this can. Szpilman mumbles out.

Soon after the officer asks, What do you do?
I am... I was, a pianist Szpilman responds with every bit of dignity he has left. (2:01 2:03)
The man standing in this scene looks entirely different from the spirited concert pianist we knew. It is
almost hard for the audience to view Szpilman as the same man from the beginning of the film.

Appalachian Mountains And Appalachians
Appalachians
The Appalachian Mountains region is roughly 360,000 km squared, taking up about 3.6 percent of
Canada s land surface. This region locates itself on the islands of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova
Scotia, New Brunswick, and a bit of Quebec, with Moncton and Halifax as some of its major
cities. The rocks, most of which are mostly sedimentary, were changed drastically when Europe and
North America collided, causing its geography to be uneven, with many jagged peaks. Forestry,
agriculture, fishing, tourism, coal mining, logging, and manufacturing are their main industries.Their
overall population lands at a bit more than 25 million. Some interesting facts are that they have the
oldest mountains and the richest fishing.
Canadian Shield Despite covering 5 million km squared of land (over 50 percent) it does not have
ideal soil for crops while having the richest area for mining. The Canadian Shield occupies most of
Quebec, much of Ontario, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories and a small portion
of Alberta. Some of the jobs in this area of only 7 million are lumbering, mining, and manufacturing.
Their land contains mostly igneous and metamorphic rock plus many minerals (gold, nickel, lead,
copper, zinc,). When the tectonic plates collided the mountains, later eroded to flatland or rounded
hills. Its geography also contains rivers and lakes from glaciers. Some of their largest cities are
Montreal and Kugluktuk.

Cyp19a1 Research Paper
The aromatase enzyme CYP19A1 is so named because it is responsible for catalyzing the conversion
of 19 carbon androgens to 18 carbon aromatic estrogens . The CYP19A1 is complex bound to the SER
of the cells, and is localized in the ovaries, testis, placenta, and fat , brain , and bone tissues.
CYP19A1 converts AN and TS to E1 and E2b, respectively, in the granulosa cells, which are somatic
cells present in the ovaries and the placenta. Furthermore, CYP19A1 can convert TS to E2b in the
leydig, seroli, and germ cells found in the testis. This process is crucial for the initiation of
spermatogenesis and mitosis of spermatogonia . Both E2b and E1 can be further catalyzed into the
third estrogen estriol.
Estrogens are vital for the regulation of sex hormones, and are known to proliferate certain forms of
cancers. For this reason, estrogens are a recognized target for inhibition of hormone depended diseases
like breast cancer, and aromatase inhibitors (AIs) like letrozole and anastrozole are of interest as they
will lower the levels of estrogens. Both letrozole and anastrozole are currently indicated for the

An Essay About Love, Our Supreme Emotion, By Daniel Gilbert
There are many distinctive definitions when it comes to the word happiness. Two psychologists, in
particular, are thoroughly investigating the science behind this feeling. Barbara Fredrickson, who
wrote the essay, Selections from Love 2.0: Love, Our Supreme Emotion, focuses on formulating
positive connections with people through micro moments. She believes that these conscious
interactions are beneficial to positive resonance and to our mental well being. On the contrary, Daniel
Gilbert, who wrote the essay Immune to Reality, discusses how our brain exploits the ambiguity of
bad experiences and unconsciously softens its sting. By doing so, we become immune to reality. Even

The process of neural coupling makes people have empathy. Empathy is something that you gain
when you feel other people s emotions. It can only be earned when you understand one s pain.
According to Fredrickson, these conscious acts can only be reached by sharing a unified connection.
When talking to people, you typically share a smile or you attentively pay attention to their
expressions. By doing so, you can reach the level of happiness that you deserve. Yet, Gilbert would
say that all these emotions are not possible. You have to rely on your unconscious during these types
of moments. These are rare moments that you typically share between family, friends, or strangers.
Usually, we rely on our psychological immune system to make us happy. If the process is typically
unconscious, how do we know that what we are feeling in Love 2.0 is a real connection between a
stranger or soul mate? This concludes that Fredrickson s theory needs to be assisted by Gilbert s.
Another conscious process that Fredrickson discusses is how oxytocin is used in social relationships.
This hormone makes people attend more to eyes and become specifically more attuned to their smiles,
especially subtle ones. Perhaps because of the closer attention you pay to people s smiles and eyes,
you become a better judge of their feelings (Fredrickson 115). Although Fredrickson makes it seem
that this is essential for happiness, she is

that the public has when it comes to paying for stadiums through tax dollars and owners paying for
their own stadiums. The databases that were used for this research are: the Texas A M University

There are many things that need to be taken in accounted for when it comes to Stadium and Arena
Funding. The biggest thing first would be what type of stadium or arena you are trying to fund. I
personally think that the tax payers should pay for half and the sports organizations should pay the
other half. The tax payers should help with some of the funding but also some of the responsible
should be put on the organizations to fund the other half needed. According to research, the public is
more likely to pay a tax on things like: broad based taxes and special taxes. Special taxes are very
important when it comes to funding. When it comes to professional sports, it is a little different than
school sports for example, like a high school. In most high schools, the funding comes from a property
tax increase and also a government bond. The community is more likely to increase the property taxes
for a high school if the community is on board with the funding. Most high schools have some type of
alumni donations that can go to help the school in any way that is needed. Keeping all this in mind,
some school districts the public may vote against the property tax increase. Most high schools might
have a wealthier district than others, which could cause a vote against the increase. There are many
different things that can be taxed to help with stadium funding. Professional sports are more likely to
get public support for a new stadium. Professional sports usually have a big fan base and serves a form
of entertainment for fans. Professional teams also say they will leave and go to another city, which in
turn increases funds to keep that certain team in that city. The communities in these cases do not want
the team to go to another community and be successful. Most communities are not against funding for
stadiums but it depends on how the teams go about it that is the most

Mona Lisa Rhymes
I am going to do another song analysis, but this time for two completely different song. Today s songs
are The ballad of Mona Lisa and Vegas Lights by Panic! at the Disco. The ballad of Mona Lisa is off
of the Vice Virtues album. Vegas Lights is a little weird at first, but once you listen to it once you can t
get the words out Panic at the Disco is quirky and interesting band that always has a twist to their
songs, and both of these songs follows suit. The Ballad of Mona Lisa begins with the ominous and
kind of creepy playing of piano. Then the lyrics begin and it s kind of confusing, but then you are like
yeah that s actually cool. Once you actually listen to the words though it takes a darker turn. Whoever
this woman is apparently has some drinking problems and has some sins she might have paid for. The
lead singer, Brendon Urie, eloquently puts it like She paints her fingers with a close precision He
starts to notice empty bottles of gin And takes a moment to assess the sins she s paid for . This is less
of a poetic song, but more of a story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now i m just guessing here but I m betting this lady is a prostitute and makes some bad decisions
even. Now I m guessing since it is called The Ballad of Mona Lisa The writer must be alluding to the
famous painting the Mona Lisa by the great Leonardo da Vinci. This song also mentions Mona Lisa, I
d pay to see you frown . I think that this Mona Lisa , the main character of this story, is a master at
concealing her emotions, she is probably struggling with some awful decisions she has made in the
past and the present. This Song is about the struggle a person who has made awful decisions and has
to put on a Mona Lisa smile to hide his/her problems from the

Comparing Hadrian s Villas And The Marsh View Home
Hadrian s Villa, located in Tivoli, was built for Roman Emperor Hadrian during the second and third
decades of the 2nd century AD. The Hadrian s villa represents Roman architecture during golden ages
in best way and also it evoke memories of Hadrian s travels around the world. This essay will examine
evolution of modern villa from historical and ancient villa such as Hadrian s villa and also the
differences and similarities of Hadrian s villa and The Marsh view house, as a modern villa.
First, Villas originally belong to ancient Roman, which represent upper class country houses. In
modern life villa can refer to variety of residences that mostly are located in suburbs
Building a villa is an act of honor of ethical values that are negotiated by political life.1
Over time, the style of villas changed but the main benefits such as pleasant views of the landscape,

Hadrian s villa as a famous ancient villa is not an only building, but a series of organized structures
and gardens, including a pool, Canopus which is one of the best preserved parts of villa, garden library
and theatre which made it as a complex villa.4 While, the marsh view house as a modern villa just
forms a series of rooms in the landscape. 5 The main room of Hadrian s villa had rounded walls which
originally composed by concave and convex curves, and there was not a roof for the room, so it was
open to sky to get lights. 6 The Marsh view house designed the way that there are some different
windows with different angles which lead sunlight inside during all daytime and seasons. 7 Hadrian s
villa all structure was made by stone and wooden beams 8 whereas construction of the marsh view
house is combined of plywood and bricks 9 however as the main purpose of villas has not changed,
there are some similarities between oldest and new version of

Dogma Rules Add “Character” to Italian for Beginners
Dogma Rules Add Character to Italian for Beginners Art films are different from mainstream films in
many aspects including acting, plot, and setting. Art filmmakers use different techniques to distinguish
their films from mainstream films. The movement away from mainstream filmmaking occurred
through the creation of the Dogma Manifesto. Dogma 95 was a set of rules for film production that
forced filmmakers to innovate through new methods of filmmaking. One such film created according
to the rules of Dogma 95 is Italian for Beginners. Although Italian for Beginners does not follow all of
the aesthetic rules of Dogma film production, the characters and their stories allow the viewer to
engage with the film on both a formal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He conveys these through simple responses, for example, when he shies away from women and the
way he carries himself. These little reactions give us a deeper look into the feelings of the character.
This looseness is part of Dogma films and the new attitude toward filming... they shoot not only many
takes of the same scene but also improvised and alternative takes (Schepelern 87). Therefore, the actor
cannot base his or her character on the events that will occur. The actor must establish a character and
try to evoke emotions. This results in characters that are not typical and predictable. As a Dogma film,
Italian for Beginners, was distinct from acting in other films and the predictability of characters in
those films. This film was original because the actors were allowed to innovate. The Dogma
movement gave actors the freedom and environment they needed to evoke a response from the
audience. Mainstream films are also starting to focus more on characters and narrative than in the past
(Schepelern 98). Perhaps, in the future other aspects of Dogma 95 will be used more widely. If wide
use of Dogma techniques occurs, film producers will look for other ways to adapt filmmaking.
Filmmaking has gone through many changes over the years, such as the New Wave movements,
Dogma and_________. Writers and producers have looked for ways to make their films standout and
they will most likely continue to be inventive in the

California Water Law Case Study
The Summer of 2015 was an unprecedented period of time in the history of California s water
resources. A crippling drought had persisted for several years prior and showed no signs of relief in
2015. In an attempt to hold the State s fragile water project together, a desperate State Water
Resources Control Board (SWCRB) did something so extraordinary that it caused several irrigation
districts in the Bay Area to essentially operate outside the law, resulting in subsequent court
proceedings that established new case law.
In California, water rights are sacred. Especially sacred are water rights that were appropriated prior to
1914, when the Water Commission Act established today s permit process. So sacred were pre 1914

However, through some negotiation, BVID s neighboring districts agreed to share some water if we
were indeed curtailed, but only as a very last resort.
Even with some assurances from our neighbors, the District still worked with staff and consultants to
appeal the SWRCB s decision to reach back into pre 1914 water rights. As a week or two passed, it
was clear that the SWRCB was unrelenting and it became evident that the next block of water rights
was certain to be curtailed, which put BVID and our rice farmers in the crosshairs.
It was on a Friday that the SWRCB announced they were likely to issue an another round of
curtailments into the 1870 s water rights holders to protect riparian water rights holders in the Delta.
Upon learning this, I immediately called our legal counsel and water rights consultants and asked that
they assert their biggest and best arguments against this and to do so unrelentingly. It was a long day
of phone calls and emails, but in the end, the SWRCB delayed their decision and opted to wait until
the following week.
Fortunately, that same weekend a series of powerful thunderstorms swept over the northern Sierra
flows ever so slightly elevated in the Yuba and Feather Rivers. This fortuitous event could not have
come any sooner because coincidently, that week in August was just after the downstream demand
curve had peaked and the ever so slight bump in flows had knocked the final round of curtailments

8 Learning Theories Essay
Learning theories video script 8)
What is meant by learning theories?
Learning theories are essentially explanations of how learning occurs represented through conceptual
frameworks in order to explain changes in behaviour and how knowledge is absorbed, processed and

environmental influences and prior experience, all play a part in: A change in individual s knowledge

The behaviourist theory; contiguity is the close association of two events commonly the cause and
effect principle that underpins behaviourism. Contiguity is often used as a rewards system, such as a
prize or sticker for achievement in school work.
Unlike classical and contiguity theories which are ultimately based on the association, operant
conditioning is a learning strategy in which behaviour is influenced by the threat of consequence or
punishment such as having to repeat a test if mistakes are made.
The behaviourism learning theory makes use of any number of these three main strategies as a
learning tool.
Because behaviourism may incorporate many different teaching methods in it the results produced in
regards to effective teaching may vary depending on the individual student, age of student audience
and subject of teaching matter.
Classical conditioning and contiguity are likely to be effective strategies when teaching for many
students as they both establish close mental links between ideas or phenomenon that allow memory
recall and expansion of knowledge to occur at greater ease. Expanding and building on current

They re 13 different staffing strategies which are distributed into two categories. Each one of the strategies is designed in a format of this one verses that one concept, making it so one would decide which would be best suited for the company. When hiring quickly it will limit the area, a person can go into by only having a need positions. This can create the fact of someone being over qualified for a position but having to put them in that position due to not enough positions available that the individual is qualified for. It would be best for Tanglewood to focus more on acquiring talent internal vs. externally because most of the people they hire would be the type to be looking for career progression for a long term career and they would not have as much of a need to hire a large amount of workers at one time or the need to create new specific entry level types of jobs. A core or flexible workforce is both needed for Tanglewood because of the size of the company. A core workforce to maintain the integrity of the store year round and knowing the company s values and mission to help keep it running smooth. A flexible workforce is great to cover down during the seasonal time of shopping. This will help have associates available to work at all different hour s verses only available at this time. It is important for a company to have flexible core workers as well to help cover down when and where needed to maintain the customer satisfaction that its customers would need. • 3. Reoccurring Themes Of Evil In The Fellowship Of The Ring The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines evil as morally reprehensible and causes harm . Some will debate that evil is an inherited trait, while others will argue that evil is acquired over time. Throughout J.R.R. Tolkien s first part of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring , there are reoccurring themes of evil and corruption, most of which surround the One Ring, and can vary depending on who possesses the Ring. While both natural evilness and developed evilness are demonstrated, The Fellowship of the Ring suggests that evil is not inherited, but acquired over time. Evil is prominent throughout The Fellowship of the Ring . Shortly after Boromir suggests that they use the Ring against Sauron, Elrond responds saying that the Ring, is altogether evil (267). The Ring was crafted with the sole purpose of evil. This is seen in the inscription on the Ring which says, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness to bind them (50). This script shows that the ring was created to draw other to darkness , which is often used to symbolize evil. While the Ring itself is evil, it is the only truly evil thing in Middle Earth: For noting was evil in the beginning. Even Sauron was not so. (267). Throughout The Fellowship of the Ring , there is a close correlation between the one ring and evil, as Elrond says, The very desire of it corrupts the heart (267). When Gandalf the Grey suggests that Bilbo leaves the ring behind before he goes on his journey, Bilbo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Character Analysis of the Elder Mrs. Winning of Flower... Character Analysis of the Elder Mrs. Winning of Flower Garden The oppression of tyranny breeds either rebellion or its counterpart, conformity, as was the case for the character Helen Winning in the story Flower Garden by Shirley Jackson. The static, intrinsic traits of the Elder Mrs. Winning, which are influential to the outcome of the story, are developed in detail by Jackson s use of description and dramatic scenes. The elder Mrs. Winning is characterized as a woman with an authoritative, domineering personality who is unyielding in her convictions. The elder Mrs. Winning is a sovereign matriarch in her household. After a morning breakfast, as the two Mrs. Winnings [linger] over a pot of coffee . . . [sitting] ... When Howard, the son of the elder Mrs. Winning , enters the house as he [comes] in from the barn , he simply acknowledges his wife, the younger Mrs. Winning, with a nod ; in contrast, he more affectionately [kisses] his mother (496). By including this detail about the distinct ways the two women are treated by Howard Winning in her description, Jackson illustrates the premiership the elder Mrs. Winning occupies in her household. Moreover, Jackson describes how Helen Winning [tried] to anticipate her mother in law s gesture of serving (496) which indicates further the preponderant and overruling qualities of the elder Mrs. Winning. The elder Mrs. Winning is a nightmarishly overbearing mother in law. The opening paragraph is a base for understanding the forcibleness of the elder Mrs. Winning s character. Jackson recounts that, After living . . . together . . . the two . . . had grown to look a good deal alike, as two women will who live intimately together, and get things done around the house in the same manner (490). By providing this description Jackson discloses the profound extent of the influence that the elder Mrs. Winning has had on the identity of her daughter in law. The elder Mrs. Winning is so overpowering that Helen has methodically adopted her lifestyle and has even gained her looks. The high handedness of the elder Mrs. Winning is first made evident when Jackson describes that the younger Mrs. Winning has invited her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. An Encouragement for Small Businesses Encouragement of Small Business Introduction The Congress has the authority to impose requirements for the federal procurement policies. Through the acquisition process, the government procures goods and services from diverse players. The process consists of three phases that are, acquisition planning and need recognition, contract formation and contract administration. Federal acquisition regulation (FAR) regulates the activities of the government in the procurement process. The system does not regulate the activities of the private sectors, but it affects the operation of private firms incorporated into the federal government by way of solicitation and reference of contracts. Congress, on the other hand, imposes requirements on private sectors whereby, agencies of the government obtain goods and services from private individuals or sectors. One of these authorities comes to be when congress exercises its mandate by promoting subcontracting and contracting with small business entities (Columba, Gambacorta Mistrulli, 2010). Declaration of these measures by congress ensures that small business entity gets a chance to contract with government agencies. Congress should aid, assist, protect, and counsel small business entities to ensure their survival in the market. • 6. Zoos Are A Great Place Of Entertainment First of all, what are zoos? Many people said that zoos are a great place of entertainment because they can take their families to see lots of exotic animals that you only get to see in books or on TV. Other said that zoos could be described as some collections of animals found in nature. Of course, all these opinions are true because for me going to the zoo has been always a great place to learn and also have fun in company of my family. In addition, I ve found that all animals in the zoo have different personality. For instance, the last time I went, and I spent a lot of time watching the gorillas. I could noticed how all four gorillas that I watched are totally different. For example, Zuri the silverback gorilla show had been the leader of the group because he was the largest gorilla and have strong arms that make him to walk upright. However, there have been both good and bad point or opinions about zoos. In brief, for me zoos have more advantages than disadvantages because the purposes behind keeping animals in detention are associated with positive educational needs, research, recreation and conservation. But the question whether animals should be kept captivated or not will be always in a debate. First, zoos provide education to society. The role of zoos nowadays places a greater emphasis on education and conservation than merely recreation. In 1774 he joined the local committee of safety which was a patriot group that monitored the actions of the local militia. In 1778 he was appointed to the Virginia Council of State which directed the affairs of the state during the Revolutionary War. When James Madison was twenty nine years old he became a member of the Continental congress. For three years Madison pushed for legislation to strengthen the newly formed confederation of states. • 12. Damon s Corruption In The Mower Against Gardens In The Mower Against Gardens , Damon the Mower acts as a critic of man s corruption stemming from the Fall of Mankind, serving as the pastoral hero of Nature against the Artifice. Damon believes that the naturalness of the meadows is being threatened with corruption, typified by the artificiality of the ornate enclosed gardens. Due to this seduction and perversion of Nature, frustration is intensely portrayed, with satisfaction taking a backseat. Most of what we know about Damon comes from Damon himself, who interprets reality in ways that favour him. He is self glorifying, claiming he is known through all the meadows , and that Nature serves him at his beck and call. Damon claims to have an intense relationship with Nature, yet much of what we know of Damon seems to contradict this. In fact, Damon never really considers Nature as anything but a reflection of his own thoughts and feelings; and he interprets natural events in a way favourable to himself. In any case, it is evident that Damon did not expect Juliana s rejection, and, being unable to add Juliana to his world, he blames her for everything in the world that goes against his idealisation of the world. Nature in the Mower Poems were part of Damon s psyche, and when his illusion of his grandiose and of the world is threatened by Juliana, he blames her for scorching and (burning) the fields and mower , and making animals go mad . Because he believed in the absolute beauty of Nature and the countryside, he gives questionable gifts to Juliana, a snake , chameleons and oak leaves tipped with honey dew . These natural gifts reflect Damon s belief in the rejection of art and artifice, and embracing only the natural. However, it is clear that these gifts were made with little consideration as to Juliana. Such artless objects, after all, would be terribly difficult for Juliana to identify as gifts. His unrequited love led to aggression misdirected against the natural world, depopulating the ground ; with the s sounds in sighing , scythe and woes used in repetition to illustrate the sorrow of Damon. Blaming Juliana for Nature s transformation and his unhappiness, his self centred blame led to intense internal conflict, as he is unable to relinquish his illusions, and unable to connect with Nature. • 14. Christians Should Study Greek Philosophy Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been many different ideas on how a Christian should interact with the world in which they lived. From the biblical writings of The Gospel according to Matthew, and The Acts of the Apostles, to the non biblical writings of On Philosophy, and The Prescription Against Heretics, the ideas of Christianity were brought together. The two non biblical documents highlight the arguments of whether or not Christians should study Greek philosophy. The books from The Bible showed that Christian beliefs focused on how one should primarily seek their ultimate reward or satisfaction in the Kingdom of God (spiritual), rather than in the here and now (temporal). Christianity, as it began, was a faith that emphasized the importance of acting charitable towards the less fortunate, while understanding that it was ones duty to worship God and spread that love for Him to those who didn t believe. In the Gospel According to Matthew, Jesus said, Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus said this, he showed how the Kingdom of Heaven was welcomed for anybody, not only those who were more fortunate than others. Jesus then went on to explain how those who were humble and those who showed righteousness would enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus also told the people how they should spread his word everywhere and teach those to examine all the things He commanded them. In The Great Commission speech, Jesus inspired His ... The world of technology we live in is ever growing, making healthcare easily accessible through telehealth. While many different organizations define telehealth using different words, they all have the same idea. I found in my research that telehealth and telemedicine are defined differently. Definition Per the healthit.gov website, telehealth is different from telemedicine, because it refers to a broader scope of remote healthcare services than telemedicine. While telemedicine refers specifically to remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non clinical services, such as provider training, administrative meetings, and continuing medical education, in addition to clinical services. According to healthit.gov, the Health Resources Services Administration defines telehealth as the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long distance clinical health care, patient and professional health related education, public health and health administration. Medicare defines it as Telehealth (or Telemonitoring) is the use of telecommunications and information technology to provide access to health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation, supervision and information across distance. • 18. Differences Between Nationalism And Imperialism Kayla Melo J. Cormier CPW 4U1 Wednesday, October 29, 2014 Nationalism and Imperialism Whether it s nationalism and/or imperialism we are affected by these angles all through out our lifetime, there are benefits to both nationalism and imperialism such that each can favorably support their nations respectively. These two features can be very powerful forces that can bring a nation together in its greatest time of need but may be able to subjugate another nation. By definition, nationalism is a patriotic feeling; an extreme case of nationalism is when a person and/or country feel a strong sensation of dominance over one or more countries. In contrast imperialism can be defined as a strategy that encompasses another countries authority and influence amongst mediation or by using military obligation. Nationalism and imperialism both benefit society through their social, political and technological aspects. The social traits pertaining to nationalism result in a nations unity usually formed through a significant event or in extreme cases of patriotism. Similarly, imperialism is moreover affected by social attributes that may not be one specific event, but occurred over a longer period of time. Nationalism creates a united front that in time produces a well governed nation For example the United States of America is a nation that goes to extreme levels of promoting patriotism. • 19. A Summary Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Medieval literature is a passion that has enveloped me since I read Chrétien de Troyes Lancelot during my freshman year. In this Arthurian romance, Chrétien represents Lancelot as conflicted a chivalrous knight whom one expects to find only in myth, yet in violation of the code of honor, desirous of his lord s queen. I began thinking of the tales of the Arthurian knights as more than legendary as potentially credible historical accounts. Soon, I wrote a paper on Gawain s rhetoric as a means to elicit specific responses in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Gawain s rhetorical strategies and their manipulations ultimately lead him to a deeper personal recognition and self acceptance. This early exercise alerted me to the pleasures of working with languages of the Middle Ages. My academic interest in Celtic Studies was piqued when I learned of Ogam stones in my Literature in the Natural World class. Ogam is not a spoken language, rather, a code of inscriptions that gave the Irish language an alphabet and supplied the Irish people with a means of writing on stone, wood, and other natural elements with relative ease. Ogam is also found in many manuscripts, where it is both written and read in a manner different from that employed when it is found on stones. As an aspiring academic in Medieval Literature, I recognize that knowledge of the literature of medieval cultures is vitally important. Which seems to be stronger in Law and in Humanities and the Social Sciences. You can give some of your personal experiences if you wish. Answer: Cultural relativism is the perspective according to which every culture has its norms, standards, values, traditions, culture and custom. No culture is superior to any other culture. In this way, the entire moral codes of the world going to be grounded because everyone seems to behave according to their cultures. According to the cultural relativist approach, culture is an exclusive source of the legitimacy of a moral rule and right. On the other hand, Universalism proposed that an entire world is belong to one culture that is why culture or society is irrelevant to the legitimacy of moral rules and rights (Arat, 2006). According to the proponents of the postmodernism and feminism, there is also some distinctions in the basis of the relativism. They strongly condemn the discrimination in the society on the basis of race and ethnicity. They contend that subjective relativism is more superior to the cultural relativism. According to this perspective, life has more value than any other cultural norms of the society. The CYP19A1 is complex bound to the SER of the cells, and is localized in the ovaries, testis, placenta, and fat , brain , and bone tissues. CYP19A1 converts AN and TS to E1 and E2b, respectively, in the granulosa cells, which are somatic cells present in the ovaries and the placenta. Furthermore, CYP19A1 can convert TS to E2b in the leydig, seroli, and germ cells found in the testis. This process is crucial for the initiation of spermatogenesis and mitosis of spermatogonia . • 40. An Essay About Love, Our Supreme Emotion, By Daniel Gilbert There are many distinctive definitions when it comes to the word happiness. Two psychologists, in particular, are thoroughly investigating the science behind this feeling. Barbara Fredrickson, who wrote the essay, Selections from Love 2.0: Love, Our Supreme Emotion, focuses on formulating positive connections with people through micro moments. She believes that these conscious interactions are beneficial to positive resonance and to our mental well being. On the contrary, Daniel Gilbert, who wrote the essay Immune to Reality, discusses how our brain exploits the ambiguity of bad experiences and unconsciously softens its sting. By doing so, we become immune to reality. Even though Fredrickson believes that accumulating conscious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process of neural coupling makes people have empathy. Empathy is something that you gain when you feel other people s emotions. It can only be earned when you understand one s pain. According to Fredrickson, these conscious acts can only be reached by sharing a unified connection. When talking to people, you typically share a smile or you attentively pay attention to their expressions. By doing so, you can reach the level of happiness that you deserve. Yet, Gilbert would say that all these emotions are not possible. You have to rely on your unconscious during these types of moments. These are rare moments that you typically share between family, friends, or strangers. Usually, we rely on our psychological immune system to make us happy. If the process is typically unconscious, how do we know that what we are feeling in Love 2.0 is a real connection between a stranger or soul mate? This concludes that Fredrickson s theory needs to be assisted by Gilbert s. Another conscious process that Fredrickson discusses is how oxytocin is used in social relationships. This hormone makes people attend more to eyes and become specifically more attuned to their smiles, especially subtle ones. Perhaps because of the closer attention you pay to people s smiles and eyes, you become a better judge of their feelings (Fredrickson 115). Although Fredrickson makes it seem that this is essential for happiness, she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many things that need to be taken in accounted for when it comes to Stadium and Arena Funding. The biggest thing first would be what type of stadium or arena you are trying to fund. I personally think that the tax payers should pay for half and the sports organizations should pay the other half. The tax payers should help with some of the funding but also some of the responsible should be put on the organizations to fund the other half needed. According to research, the public is more likely to pay a tax on things like: broad based taxes and special taxes. Special taxes are very important when it comes to funding. When it comes to professional sports, it is a little different than school sports for example, like a high school. In most high schools, the funding comes from a property tax increase and also a government bond. The community is more likely to increase the property taxes for a high school if the community is on board with the funding. Most high schools have some type of alumni donations that can go to help the school in any way that is needed. Keeping all this in mind, some school districts the public may vote against the property tax increase. Most high schools might have a wealthier district than others, which could cause a vote against the increase. There are many different things that can be taxed to help with stadium funding. Professional sports are more likely to get public support for a new stadium. Professional sports usually have a big fan base and serves a form of entertainment for fans. The ballad of Mona Lisa is off of the Vice Virtues album. Vegas Lights is a little weird at first, but once you listen to it once you can t get the words out Panic at the Disco is quirky and interesting band that always has a twist to their songs, and both of these songs follows suit. The Ballad of Mona Lisa begins with the ominous and kind of creepy playing of piano. Then the lyrics begin and it s kind of confusing, but then you are like yeah that s actually cool. Once you actually listen to the words though it takes a darker turn. Whoever this woman is apparently has some drinking problems and has some sins she might have paid for. The lead singer, Brendon Urie, eloquently puts it like She paints her fingers with a close precision He starts to notice empty bottles of gin And takes a moment to assess the sins she s paid for . Dogma Rules Add “Character” to Italian for Beginners Dogma Rules Add Character to Italian for Beginners Art films are different from mainstream films in many aspects including acting, plot, and setting. Art filmmakers use different techniques to distinguish their films from mainstream films. The movement away from mainstream filmmaking occurred through the creation of the Dogma Manifesto. Dogma 95 was a set of rules for film production that forced filmmakers to innovate through new methods of filmmaking. One such film created according to the rules of Dogma 95 is Italian for Beginners. Therefore, the actor cannot base his or her character on the events that will occur. The actor must establish a character and try to evoke emotions. This results in characters that are not typical and predictable. As a Dogma film, Italian for Beginners, was distinct from acting in other films and the predictability of characters in those films. This film was original because the actors were allowed to innovate. The Dogma movement gave actors the freedom and environment they needed to evoke a response from the audience. Mainstream films are also starting to focus more on characters and narrative than in the past (Schepelern 98). Perhaps, in the future other aspects of Dogma 95 will be used more widely. A crippling drought had persisted for several years prior and showed no signs of relief in 2015. In an attempt to hold the State s fragile water project together, a desperate State Water Resources Control Board (SWCRB) did something so extraordinary that it caused several irrigation districts in the Bay Area to essentially operate outside the law, resulting in subsequent court proceedings that established new case law. However, through some negotiation, BVID s neighboring districts agreed to share some water if we were indeed curtailed, but only as a very last resort. Even with some assurances from our neighbors, the District still worked with staff and consultants to appeal the SWRCB s decision to reach back into pre 1914 water rights. As a week or two passed, it was clear that the SWRCB was unrelenting and it became evident that the next block of water rights was certain to be curtailed, which put BVID and our rice farmers in the crosshairs. It was on a Friday that the SWRCB announced they were likely to issue an another round of curtailments into the 1870 s water rights holders to protect riparian water rights holders in the Delta. Upon learning this, I immediately called our legal counsel and water rights consultants and asked that they assert their biggest and best arguments against this and to do so unrelentingly. It was a long day of phone calls and emails, but in the end, the SWRCB delayed their decision and opted to wait until the following week.
