Writing Persuasive Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Writing Persuasive Essays" presents a unique set of challenges
that require careful consideration and strategic planning. The task involves not only conveying
information effectively but also convincing the audience of a particular viewpoint or argument.
Crafting a persuasive essay demands a deep understanding of the subject matter, a keen
awareness of the target audience, and the ability to employ persuasive techniques.
One of the initial challenges lies in selecting a compelling and relevant topic. The chosen subject
must be interesting to the audience and allow for a persuasive stance. Once the topic is
established, the writer needs to conduct thorough research to gather evidence and supporting
details. This step requires time, patience, and critical thinking to ensure that the arguments
presented in the essay are well-founded and compelling.
Structuring the essay is another complex aspect. A persuasive essay typically follows a clear
structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each section plays a crucial
role in building the overall persuasiveness of the essay. The introduction should grab the reader's
attention, present a clear thesis statement, and outline the main arguments. The body paragraphs
should delve into each argument, providing evidence and logical reasoning. Transitions between
paragraphs must be smooth to maintain the flow of the essay. The conclusion should summarize
the key points and leave a lasting impression on the reader.
Balancing ethos, pathos, and logos is essential for an effective persuasive essay. Ethos involves
establishing the writer's credibility, pathos appeals to the reader's emotions, and logos relies on
logical reasoning. Striking the right balance among these elements is challenging but crucial for
persuading the audience.
Additionally, refining language and style to engage the reader further complicates the writing
process. Crafting compelling sentences, choosing precise vocabulary, and maintaining a coherent
and cohesive writing style contribute to the overall impact of the essay.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay is a multifaceted task that requires a combination of
research skills, critical thinking, and mastery of persuasive techniques. It demands careful
planning and execution to create a well-structured and convincing piece. For those who find
themselves struggling with this intricate process, there are resources available, such as

complexities of persuasive writing.

research Louis Pasteur said I beseech you to take interest in these sacred domains

the temples of the future, wealth and well being. It is here that humanity will learn
to read progress and individual harmony in the works of nature, while humanity s

Research is important both in scientific and nonscientific fields. In our life
new problems, events, phenomena and processes occur every day. Practically
implementable solutions and suggestions are required for tackling new problems that

Lupe As A Role Model
Most people think being a role model is like a popularity contest, they think it s
easy. People think all they have to do is fit in with the crowd so they can be
popular. But being a role model is not an easy task, although Lupe makes it look that
way when she doesn t even fit in. In the story, The MarbleChamp, by Gary Soto, Lupe
is a very good role model. Lupe shows this by being a good sport, always working
hard, and by being intelligent.
One reason why I think Lupe is a good role model is because she is very intelligent.
As proof, Lupe s academic grades are straight A s. This shows that Lupe is
intelligent because not many people get straight A s on their report card every year
of school. Secondly, Lupe is intelligent because she has won multiple awards. For
example, Lupe won the school spelling bee, she won the blue ribbon award in the
science fair, she was the winner of a reading contest at the library three summers in
a row, she was also the top student in her piano recital, and she was the playground
champion of chess. Talk about a ton of awards, right? Lupe feels like none of these
awards mean anything though. Lupe wishes she could win some type of award in
athletics, so that she can keep up with the other girls in her school, that s why Lupe
is working towards her goal of being the marble champion. Also, in one case in the
story, when Lupe was playing marbles on her bed, she figured out that her bedspread
was slowing down the marbles as she shot them. This

Degeneration of Kurtz and Colonialism in Heart of Darkness
Kurtz was a personal embodiment, a dramatization, of all that Conrad felt of futility,
degradation, and horror in what the Europeans in the Congo called progress, which
meant the exploitation of the natives by every variety of cruelty and treachery known
to greedy man. Kurtz was to Marlow, penetrating this country, a name, constantly
recurring in people s talk, for cleverness and enterprise. Joseph Conrad s Heart of
Darkness is a portrait of the degeneration of the ideal of Kurtz symbolizing the
degeneration of the ideal of colonialism as civilizing work .
The fading of the idealist mirage of civilizing work in Africa has to be one of the

Marlow also spoke to Kurtz s journalist colleague, who remembered about Kurtz:
Heavens! how that man could talk! He electrified large meetings. He had the faith
don t you see he had the faith. He could get himself to believe anything anything
(Conrad 71). The other thing Kurtz met in the Congo was silence. The dialogue
became a monologue, because the other side of the conversation is only wilderness.
Kurtz s whole orientation in the Congo was based on the quest for ever increasing
quantities of ivory. In this lay the weakness of Kurtz, for he wanted something, unlike
his Russian companion. Kurtz s intelligence, his ideas, and his plans, were captive to
his status as ivory gatherer. Kurtz s rejection of the validity of the unsound method
was not the problem. The problem with Kurtz, which Marlow does not realize, is not
that Kurtz went native, but that he did not go native enough. In other words, Kurtz
did not abandon the ivory fetish. Kurtz s link with colonialism is therefore his
undoing, even in the individual decay he undergoes.
Kurtz, more than anyone, was a signal of human potential to Marlow, the universal
genius , the extraordinary man found the limits of his potential much more easily in
his isolation: Believe me or not, his intelligence was perfectly clear concentrated, it is
true, upon himself with a horrible intensity, yet clear... (Conrad 65). Kurtz s abilities

Later in 1971 he proclaimed the Multiculturalism Act. This became an actual law

was that they will have two official languages but it would not have official culture.

Epistemological Enquiry into Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Regarded as a canonical
example of Gothic Fiction, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein stands as a classical debate
between scientific endeavour and philosophical understanding. Both aims at
improving the life of mankind the former through experimentation and explanation of
the properties of physical objects, the latter, through reflective study of fundamental
problems having non physical existence like truth and falsehood, virtue and vice,
reason and justice and so on. Science can be called empirical philosophy as it was
once regarded as natural philosophy, an offshoot of philosophy itself, only to be
branched out after 19th century into a separate discipline. A large section of

However, the girl is engaged to a man named Albert, whom she soon marries. The
unrequited love becomes a reason of terrible torment for Werther who finds
himself a part of a love triangle, that can only be resolved through death of one of
them. The hopelessness of his situation drives Werther to commit suicide.
Significantly, none attends his funeral neither Albert, Lotte or any clergyman. The
book raises several enquiries in the monster s mind. Firstly, the monster finds him
in a similar situation as Werther, a state of complete desolation. He is forsaken by
mankind as well as by his creator. He realises that love is indispensable for life and
hence, asks Victor to create a female companion, as deformed and horrible as he is
with whom he can escape into the vast wilds of South America , where no human
being shall find them again. Secondly, the book raises existential questions in the
monster as he ponders over his identity, which not even Victor has thought about.
Thirdly, Shelley is preparing a ground for the final fate of the monster. Once he kills
Victor, he realizes remorsefully that Victor was his father and that he is left with none
to offer him pity or compassion. The dejection and disappointment, hatred and
suffering drives him to commit
A Psychological Analysis Of Jane s Growing Up At
Gateshead
One thing that becomes clear throughout the book is Jane s need to deeply analyze
people and judge them based on their actions, appearances, and other factors. She
also seems to try to fit in and be accepted by those around her by trying to learn
things from people in order to help relate to or befriend them. This behavior can be
explained by taking a look back to her experiences growing up at Gateshead. Jane
was heavily ignored, rejected, and even hated by the majority of the people at
Gateshead and was reduced to having to read as her only comfort and escape from
her situation. This, having to constantly be careful not to anger Mrs. Reed, and
having to deal with being constantly abused by John Reed understandably left her
lonely and critical
Who Is Absolon In Miller s Tale
Throughout his The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer makes it his goal to expose the
true nature of each of his characters through the descriptions given by the narrator
and reflected in the tale told by each character. At the end of the Miller s Tale,
almost all of the characters are guilty of some wrongdoing and physically harmed in
some manner. The unfortunate chain of events at the story s conclusion and the
Miller s extreme amusement in response to the story enable the reader to become
privy to the Miller s unique agenda. A superficial possibility, and easily the most
reflective of the Miller s personality, is a simple desire to find and provide
amusement in a vulgar tale with graphic imagery and inappropriate actions by the
characters. Another... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his prologue, the Reeve immediately finds insult in his story, and he begs him
not to submit to thy lewed dronken harlotrye (72). The Miller then justifies what
the Reeve sees as a malevolent representation of the wife by saying An husbond
shal nat been inquisitif Of Goddes privetee, nor of his wyfe (73). This use of
religion as a means of logic by the Miller provides severe contrast to his intoxicated
state, but it more importantly defines the adulterous sin of the wife as righteous
punishment for the husband s jealousy. At the end of the Miller s tale, the
simultaneous kissing of Alisoun s arse by Absolon, supposedly the most religious of
these figures, the branding of Nicholas rear, and the fall of the carpenter represents
the concept of divine retribution that the Miller finds so hilarious in its very ironic
vulgarity (88). Of particular interest is the fact that the Miller sees the carpenter s
jealousy and foolish marriage to someone so much younger than him as the most
extreme of his characters sins, warranting the folk gan laughen at his fantasye...And
turned al his harm unto a jape following his fall at the end of the tale (88). The
traditionally more despicable sins, including the adultery and lying performed by

Raisin in the Sun - play vs movie
The film did a very good job of portraying the emotions the characters were
experiencing during the play.
The strongest scene in he book would have to be when Walter turned down the
money he would get for not moving into the neighborhood . I felt this took a lot of
guts on his part. I also thought that this was a turning point in the novel. By Walter not
accepting the money it showed that he not only grew through out the play, but also
that he put many things into perspective. His family became the most integrate part
of his life, by the end of the novel he realized what was more important. He took a
stand for not only him self but for his family when he didn t accept the buyout. I
think Walter s unexpected decision to save his integrity... Show more content on

Walter seems to be overcome with a search for power and a drive to become
wealthy and leave the life of being a worker behind him. It also shows that he cares
for his family seeing how he is striving to give them the best, but that aspect is
overshadowed by his greed. I feel the scene also shows the Younger family at its
lowest point in the movie. Walter is on the complete edge and is thinking of stealing
a community s money and the rest of the family, besides Momma, seemed to lose
their faith and trust in him. When things seemed hopeless with the loss of the money,
they only became worse as a loss in more than money occurred. A loss in their
character, faith, history, and respect for each other overcame the family, particularly
Walter and Beneatha. Nevertheless, Momma soon sets Beneatha straight with an
emotional and positive speech about how there is always something left to love and
sets the standard that the family should adhere to. It marks the turning point at the
end of the movie
There were few differences between the movie and the book Raisin in the Sun. I felt
that the movie just gave you a visual to understand and relate to the characters more.
The one major difference between the two was the sequence of events from the
movie to the book.
The most dramatic scene for me was when Bobo tells Walter Lee that Willie ran off
with his money. I really
felt that he was going to physically hurt Bobo. I chose this scene because I

American Christianity Democratized
How was American Christianity democratized during this period, and how else was
the United States democratized? The Second Great Awakening commenced with a
Protestant revival movement during the early beginning around 1790, the movement
gained momentum through 1820s. The later emergence of the Transcendentalists
movement emerged, rooted by their religious philosophy extended from more than a
protestant movement but a social and political one, linked far back in American
history .Religious movements anticipated the coming of Christ and the need to
change moral values. Printing inked how ordinary Americans distrusted leaders and
defend the right to shape their own faith and submit to leaders of their own choosing
(Hatch).Printing was the primary driver of a chain of events that would lead to
Christian democratization ,and the increasing growth of Methodist , Baptist and later
transcendentalist movement between Americans . The separation of church and
politics stirred many issues of authority, organization and leadership, Americans had
sentimental argued that their spiritual beliefs should not be morally tied into their
political views using pamphlets, tracts, booklets, journals and newspapers .The early
democratization of christianity changed three aspects of religion; First, it denied the
class structure that set clergy as exceptional ,movements lead by men like Wesley and
Asbury, empowered ordinary people by understand their spiritual state rather than

Vegetarianism Philosophy Essay
Vegetarianism is a custom practiced in six out of the seven continents and has
become more popular over the years. Vegetarianism can be defined as the exclusion
of animal products such as meat and fish from one s diet. Dairy products and eggs
are often times excluded as well. Although there are many reasons one may decide to
become a Vegetarian or follow such a code of ethics, the most common include:
moral, religious or health reasons.
Morally, one may feel obligated to exercise Vegetarianism due to the inhumane
treatment of animals throughout the farming process. The issue is that roughly ten
billion animals are raised for United States food consumption alone. Animals such as
cows, fish, chickens, pigs, and turkeys are subjected to ... Show more content on

However, it is not an argument of which life holds more value. The argument is that it
is immoral to subdue animals to inhumane conditions for the purposes of efficiency
and human food consumption.
For some, the choice of Vegetarianism is decided based on religious beliefs or
practices. Vegetarianism is compatible with the major world religions the Eastern
Religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism) and the Abrahamic Religions (Judaism,
Islam, Christianity, and BahГЎ Г Faith). Among these, it is most commonly
practiced by those of the Buddhist, Christian and Islamic faith. Vegetarianism within
the Buddhist culture is taught along with the Four Noble Truths, which focus on the
acts of suffering. Since the Buddhist faith accepts the idea of karma, it is believed
that in order to maintain a life of peace and happiness and remain free of suffering,
one must refrain from the harming, injuring or killing of any living being. As part of
the Christian faith, animal cruelty is forbidden. The teachings of Jesus Christ focus
on the ideas of love, compassion, mercy and acceptance. Although the question of
eating meat is not directly addressed in Christian doctrine it can be implied that
since animals are a creation of God and the idea of love for all of God s creations is
heavily stressed in the Christian faith, then out of Christian love on should lead a life
Elf Battle and Gwyndor
A long time ago, in a land far, far away from this land we know, there was a land
called Gwyndor, a place where all kinds of life existed. Men, Dwarves, Elves and
other creatures lived in this mysterious land. However, Gwyndor was not all a
place of peace and prosperity, far off near the borders of the east, there was a land
called Azurg, a land where the sun forbid to shine and simply setting foot in the
land drains the life right out of you if you were not strong enough. Right in the
center of Azurg there was a dark and gloomy empire filled with hundreds of
thousands of fang bearing, fearsome creatures who crafted crude weapons out of
metal they gained from fallen warriors whom they slayed, but in the center of the
empire there was a lone tower, and in this tower there was a conjurer of dark magic
whom no man had ever seen, for once you saw him, you never escaped with your
life. This sorcererremained nameless because no one could describe him because no
one ever got a look at him before his or her time was ended. No one ever knew what
that creature was doing up in his tower but one day nearly fifty years ago this good
world figured it out. One day the sorcererreleased darkness over all the land of
Gwyndor, all the villages and towns of Gwyndor were destroyed and none who
stood up to him succeeded. However on one fateful day all the inhabitants of
Gwyndor came together, Men, Elves, and Dwarves marched onto the border of

going to be provided a formal analysis of the work of art in question as far as the
elements of Art are concerned. Thereafter, attention will be drawn to how the sitter is
conveyed through the artist s artistic choices on the painting. With reference to that,
multiple aspects of the piece will be discussed as to the way in which they contribute
to attributing an identity to the sitter. Lastly, the paper will elaborate upon how two
formal artistic elements effectively convey one aspect of the sitter s identity. In
particular, the elements of color and light will be... Show more content on

Concerning color, there is a stark contrast between the figure on the painting and the
background. More specifically, the figure of the woman is predominantly delineated
in white color, especially pale, ashen white, as far her apparel and facial
complexion are concerned, while there are also various hues of grey, with respect to
her hair and accessory feather. These white and grey shades are vividly contrasted
with the prevailing red and crimson hues of the background (viz. the drape,
armchair, and table). Moreover, one can detect colors of dark green (jewelry), some
beige on the left (pillar), and darker or lighter shades of blue on the right side of the
canvas (sky), which all in concert and in addition to the subtle purple hue forming
the sun or moon exude a certain dramatic sentiment. Also, there is brown, which
often easily segues into gold (viz. books and attire details respectively). The main
contrast of colors between white and red would be interpreted as serving the
purpose of rendering the figure of the woman, and especially her face, the focal point
of the work, despite, paradoxically enough, the lush red shades at the background.
Bearing that in mind, the significance of the woman s face will be enlarged upon
later, when discussing aspects of her identity. To further elaborate upon the elements
of art on the painting, the lines are in their vast

Dragon Inside, follows the story of a teenager named Andy who goes through a

lightning on a class field trip. He survives the strike but is sentenced to never cross
paths with computers because of the electrical charges he gives off causing
computers to freeze and shut down. Even though Andy loves computer games, this

Andy accidentally stumbles into the middle of a science experiment, and the results

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. With an incredible gift of

Drug Use And Its Effects On Society
Despite the issues regarding the scientific studies, evidence has drawn positive
links suggesting people who use drugs are more likely to engage in criminal activity
than non users if simply because they are breaking the law to obtain the substance of
use. Research does support this contention as people who are arrested for various
crimes test positive to be under the influence of a drug at the time they committed
their offense. However, the evidence remains elusive as to whether the drug use led
to the crimeor the crime was separate from the drug use and related needs (i.e., money
to buy drugs, territorial wars, etc.). Because of inconsistent data and definitions in
reporting, statistical evidence is not empirical enough to draw hard conclusions
regarding the relationship between drugs, including alcohol, and crime, or to quantify
how much of that crime begins with the innocent seeming lighting up of a marijuana
cigarette. In addition, when more than one drug is present, it is difficult to assess
which of the two or more might have induced or inspired the criminal behavior, if
any. The association between alcohol and violence illustrated through various studies
makes it clear that correlations between drug use and crime are greater complicated
through the presence of other dynamics such as socio demographic and personality
characteristics.
Given these cautions regarding the research and studies then, it is interesting to note
that studies limited to marijuana only do not
Portrayal Of Female Character In Sita And Jaya
Portrayal of female character by Devdutt Pattanaik in his book Sita and Jaya
In the Hindu Mythology some women are portrayed as the role model for all the
women. Sita, Savitri, Draupadi, Ahalya and Arundhati are the five women that are
considered to be the role model. The women in the Hindu Indian tradition are asked
to obey their husbands no matter what they feel. This tradition imprints this in the
minds and hearts of the women. If women do not follow this tradition then they will
have to face the problems that their role models portrayed in the Epics have faced.
Those five women are put on the pedestals of pride and honour. Sita and Draupadi
are the main celebrities of Hindu Mythology. Both of them had a Supernatural birth.

order to take revenge he dragged and disrobed Draupadi in front of the whole court.
Sita showed full confidence and trust in her husband Ram and kept waiting for him

the destruction of the clan of the Kauravas. When Ram rescued Sita from the demon
King Ravana he clearly stated that he has saved her only because of the honour of his

Draupadi and Sita are very strong characters and they stood against all the odds of

The Purpose Of Ideology
1.ideology Meaning and Philosophy
Ideology is a system of meaning that helps define and explain the world and that
makes value judgements about that world. It refers not only to the beliefs held
about the world but also to the basic ways in which the world is defined (Croteau,
Hoynes, and Milan 1953). Ideology is a body of ideas concerning economic, social
and political values and goals which posit action programmes for attaining these
goals. Padelford and Lincoln

Link between ideology and media
The ideology of the media is broad and manifests in the communicativity of the
media. To facilitate ideological analysis, however, the key is the fit between the
images and texts in a specific media output, plus the manner thought and discussion
on social and cultural issues. Questions, however, arise as to how the media content
(shaped by ideologies) depict real life. This begs the question of function and ethics.
The ideological analysis further attempts to answer questions about what the media
messages depict of the society and its people.
This underscores why politicians have long perceived mass media as a veritable
channel of disseminating an ideology so that the society can mirror itself against
what the media feeds it and thus be manipulated. This further begs the question of
whether the media is a contributor or otherwise to societal problems in the face of
political ideological dissemination.
Furthermore, the media and ideology are interconnected in the following ways
(Asemah, 2011):
i.The media serves as a channel for communication of ideologies ii. Media function
requires its representation of concepts of reality within and without the local
environment to the

bringing concepts and ideas forward tend to surface, sometimes surprisingly, when
constructing a detailed schedule. A point often overlooked when developing plans
relate to consideration of their tangible manageability during implementation.
Hofstadter s Law describes an abyss entered by myriads of projects and tasks
evidenced by consuming resources far beyond reasonable projections. And while not
building the Nautilus, a significant amount of dates and activities fashion themselves
around critical components of the process. With multiple universities to track, our
prospect will note the schedule grows substantially as additional sets of dates,
deadlines or other requirements add to the mix. Consolidating date instances by
normalizing earliest occurrences in phase I and II should alleviate some unwieldiness
of managing that information. However, with the obvious exception of academic
requirements, potential minefields lay in wait for missing any dates on that schedule
and illustrate the main reason for its existence in the first

Introduction and Confirmation of Briefing
We are Swift Marketing who operates as a full service agency and we have been
given the task of creating a strategic communications plan for William s and Glyn s
Bank for the duration of one year. The budget given to us is ВЈ10 million.

We should aim to obtain a certain amount of market share after our communications
plan is implemented.

Strategy Target Audience
After analysis, it has been decided that the target audience will be very large but will
include different types of customers for specific communications. Most of the
audience that the communications will appeal to will already have set up a bank
account or have taken out a mortgage. Therefore, it has been decided that rather than
creating a better value image for Williams and Glyn s Bank, it is better to
communicate to customers who are looking for a trustworthy bank.
1 Demographics
Age
Age of target audience has been considered carefully because if media advertisement
is to be most effective, it must target age ranges depending on where and when those
advertisements will be seen. There are 2 types of banking for individual customers:
Personal banking and Private banking.
Personal banking has products such as the current account and this will attract a
larger age range, for example students as well as people from the ages of 23 55.
Students are aged between 18 22 and this account is only suitable for students at
university. They offer interest free overdrafts that help students to
Antigone Play Analysis
Antigone is a very interesting play that was enjoyable to read. This play is
somewhat long, but reads quickly as the characters in the play are interesting to
learn about and understand. I liked how Antigone is a strong female heroine with a
sense of righteousness and courage, especially when it was set and written in a
time when male heroes were more common. The exposition of this play, that is
spoken through the chorus right after Ismene and Antigone first dialogue at the
beginning of the play, is that a civil war went on lead by their two brothers
Polyneices and Eteocles. The war has now ended with both of the brother s deaths
and Creon in charge. The death and tragedy of King Oedipus also marks as a part of
the exposition. The inciting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes the climax, when Creon has finally decided to let Antigone go, only to
find out that she has committed suicide due to failing her goal to have her brother
s soul rest in piece. The dramatic question of this play is whether it is right to
disobey the laws of man if it is right by the laws of the gods. Antigone decides that
it is the gods laws that are to be obeyed rather than human laws and acts
accordingly. As a result, Antigone is the protagonist of this play because her actions
are the direct focus and defining factors that illustrate the playwrights meaning and
purpose. She is also the character that directly and with zeal, acts in response to the
inciting incident. In contrast, Creon, is the antagonist, that prevents Antigone from
accomplishing her goal to bury her brother. He believes throughout the play that
his laws dominate over the laws of the gods, and is punished as a result. This is
seen in the resolution of the play, as due to Creon s tyranny and Antigone s death,
Haemon and Creon s wife decide to follow in Antigone s footsteps in ending their
own lives. This resolution appearing at the end of the play, and revealing the lesson
for Creon that pride destroyed him. During this time period, Greece was in a moment
of imperialism and nationalism. This country believed itself to be the best country

The Influence of Star Wars in TodayВґs Culture Essay
Motion Pictures have always had a strong influence in today s culture, but maybe
none as prevalent as Star Wars. Originating with Episode 4 A New Hope, the series
boomed from 1977 to 2005 with yet another addition coming in 2015. The
strongest of the series was the original trilogy episodes 4, 5, and 6, all generally
released in the 1980s. As one of the strongest film francaises still today, it s impact
within the 1980s was only the tip of the iceberg. Children and adults alike still
anticipate the new edition of this seemingly endless journey. If any singular film
series still holds prevalence in its future decades it is Star Wars: Original Trilogy. Far
off in a distant galaxy an infamous story would begin, A New Hope. This episode is...

Violation Of Social Norms
At a very early age, children learn about social norms to help them become proper
citizens in society. Examples of some social norms that students learn are: do not
yell in the library, do not speak unless spoken to, do not talk to strangers, and close
the door when you use the restroom. As you grow older, these rules become
unspoken because everyone knows how to act like a proper individual in society.
The textbook definition of a social normis something that is a rule of behavior that
society accepts. (Bicchieri) Since everyone knows these unsaid rules of society, what
would happen when someone decides not to follow these rules? What would people
think and react? In this paper, I discuss my violation of the social normdon t talk to
strangers and discuss what I learned from this experiment.
The social norm that I chose to violate was initiating conversation and talking to
strangers on public transportation. By doing this I deviated from the unspoken rule
which says that you should not talk to strangers and that you should not interact with
others on public transportation because of the possibility of them harming or
assaulting you. From doing this activity, I learned that power dynamics exist in every
situation and that by violating a social norm I, as a young woman, put myself in a
vulnerable position. I chose to make this decision to talk to strangers on public
transport because it seemed relatively safe and within my zone of comfort,

A Doll s House Literary Analysis
In life they re will always be people who will deceive you in a variety of ways and
their motives will try to justify those actions. In A Doll s House, Nora deceived
Helmer in result of her selfishness and immaturity. It began with small, innocent,
white lies about her consumption of macaroons into the reader s realization that
Nora had lied to Helmer about the fact that she had borrowed money and more
specifically that she had forged her way into borrowing money from Krogstad.
Although, Nora did save Helmer from dying, it didn t make it right for Nora to keep
this from him and almost costing Helmer his job.

He didn t question it, rather he trusted his wife and didn t think for a second she had
done something imprudent to gather the money. In A Doll s House, we see how
Helmer avoids being in debt with anyone since he thinks there shouldn t be a need
with the ammount of money he earns from his hard worked salary. Nora thought
otherwise, when Helmer was ill her primary doing was to go directly to a person
and borrow money for both Helmer s treatment, and her luxurious trip even if she
knew her husband was going to be against it all. It was already bad enough that
Nora had gone against her husband s wishes, yet she raised the bar by forging her
way through the process of recieving a loan. Nora signed Krogstad s loan contract,
only for him to later find out that she had forged her father s signature so that she d
be able to borrow the money. Apart from that, Nora not only kept this a secret from
Helmer, but spent recklessly on objects that weren t all that needed knowing that she
was in debt with Krogstad. Nora kept all this from Helmer in fear of his
abandonment. However, it shouldn t have been that way, since Helmer was always
honest to Nora and that same honesty was expected in return.
Overall, Nora s motives for her deceptions against Helmer in A Dolls house,
shouldn t be justified since she was supposed to come clean handed to Helmer about
her problems. For when someone is married, the spouse s problem involves the other
one too. This wasn t something the author did unintentionally, for he portrayed how a
small lie can escalate into a huge dilemma, and even lead to a marriage
How Does Robert Hayden Use Imagery In Those Winter
Sundays
Robert Hayden s poem, Those Winter Sundays , focuses in upon the narrator who
is looking back upon their younger years and their relationship with their father.
The poem then further elaborates on this concept, keeping it as the focal point of
the poem, through use of imagery. Robert Hayden uses imagery a great deal to
describe, in depth, not only the setting, but the very nature of the father and the
narrator s relationship. Parallels can be drawn between the use of imagery, the bitter
and frigid winter days, and the narrator s cold relationship with his father. Thus, by
exploring the use of imagery in the poem the father and narrator s relationship
becomes clearer. Warmth and coldness are two main pieces of imagery that are
invoked by
Concrete And Concrete Of Concrete
Pretension concrete, also known as prestressed concrete, is one of the methods to
give more strength to the natural weakness of concrete through tension. The way this
works is by allowing the tendons to cure in the concrete. After it has cured the
tendons are released and the tension is applied. The analysis for continuous

The Wall Street Is An Useful Tool For The American
Economy
Pros of Wall Street
Wall Street is an extremely useful tool for the American economy. It helps those who
are in the lower part of the social ladder by giving them a chance to climb the ladder
of economic opportunity. Wall Street also helps boost other industries within
America, thereby making it vital for the American economy. As Wall Streetis one of
the most important financial institutions in the world and provides more positive
aspects for the economy than negative ones. Wall Street is extremely important for
the American economy. Jeff Madrick, the editor of Challenge: The Magazine of
Economic Affairs, in his piece Does America need Wall Street , cites historian
Alfred Chandler, who argued that the majority of the money put into America during
industrialization came from corporate profits (Madrick). Those profits were able to
make technological advances for all Americans. Daniel Indiviglio, former associate
editor of the Atlantic, states that Wall Street is also important to the economy
because it helps banks create capital (Indiviglio). That bank capital helps create jobs
in the economy by causing more money to be available to be put into the economy.
Wall Street plays an important part in the economy, and without it, America would
face financial hardships. Wall Street also helps the American economy by providing
the opportunity to be able to move up the financial ladder. Adam Davidson, a

Auguste Rodin s Gates Of Hell
Essay 2: An Analysis of Figural Movement and Non Textual Depictions of Dante
Alighieri s The Divine Comedy in the Sculptural Motivations of Auguste Rodin s
Gates of Hell.
The primary motivation for Auguste Rodin s Gates of Hell are based on the desire to
interpret Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy through amore individual response to
the text. Rodin avoided a traditional interpretation of Dante s narrative by creating his
own form of chaotic view of hell through a modern 19th century perspective.
During this the middle to late 19th century, Rodin sought shift the focus away from
literary interpretations of art, which had become the dominant form of
interpretation of classical themes in France. The Gates of Hell was to avoid these
text based views of Dante s work as a motivation for Rodin s commission for the
doors as an early form of modernity in sculpture:

In this compositional form, the chaos of human forms seen suffering and writhing
in hell are one way in which Rodin deviated from the text that he was initially
supposed to follow from the Divine Comedy. Rodin, therefore , was motivated by a
more active and personal view of the chaos of hell, which was individualistically
interpretative and went against traditional forms of literary interpretation in French
classical art. The chaos of the human forms depicted on the gates of hell define the
individualism of the sculptor s point of view, which sought to remove the sickly
aspects of literary culture that was so dominant in French artistic culture. Rodin
sought to move away from these sometimes gaudy expressions of literary heroism to
a more realistic, chaotic, and despairing view of hell through Rodin s sculptural
How The First Place Team
There aren t many baking pans that I would consider a necessity but this is one of
them. The #1 pan can be used for so many different things from cakes to brownies
and if you are daring enough, a very interesting gelatin mold. The first time I used
this for gelatin I loaded it up with fruit and no one even noticed that it was the
shape of a number. You live, you learn, you lay off the fruit. If you can mix up a box
of cakebatter, set a timer and spread on some icing you can make this cake for any
event or celebration and save a ton of money over buying a store bought one. The
biggest perk is being able to use the colors and decorations you want and knowing
exactly what s in it. Some of the obvious uses are for the first place team in a
sporting event, first birthdays and of course Mother s Day but you can also use it
for someone s eleventh birthday, showing someone that they are number one in
your life or add it to a larger cake for a tiered look. You can also shave off the serifs
and make it into a brick shape if you need something like that. Average baking time
is about twenty to twenty five minutes with a cool time of at least fifteen.
Decorating is easy because of the simple shape of it and you can customize it any
way that you like. One thing I tried and has success with was making a
checkerboard design when one of the boys came in fist place in a local chess
competition. I made one dark chocolate pan and a white one. After allowing them to
cool I used fishing
5p Syndrome Research Paper
Cat Cry Syndrome (5p) Do you know anyone with a genetic disorder? Cri Du Chat
Syndrome, which translates to cry of the cat syndrome in french, is a genetic
disorder which is diagnosed when you re missing your 5th chromosome. Cri du chat,
or 5p syndrome is not inherited, but is a random event. Doctors cannot treat or heal
patients with 5p syndrome but there is therapy. There are numerous symptoms. It s
found in all cultural backgrounds and happens in every 1 to 50,000 newborns.
Origin of Discovery: The discovery of 5p syndrome is rather complicated and

The cat like cry is the most prominent feature and is usually one of the key factors in
diagnosing it. The chromosomes can also be analyzed and they can find the missing
or misplaced chromosome. In this case they would find that the fifth chromosome is
missing. They can also do a more detailed test called the FISH test. FISH stands for
Fluorescent in Situ Hybridization, it can detect the deletion.
Who has this disorder: A commonly asked question for all genetic disordersis Who
get s it ? The answer is simple. Anyone can be born with 5p syndrome. 5p syndrome
is not more prominent in any group of people. Since it is a random event that
happens in the fetal development it can happen in all cultures, genders, and
ethnicities. It happens in every 1 in 20,000 to 50,000 newborns and isn t very
common.
Inheritance: Cri Du Chat syndrome is not sex linked. It is caused by the deletion of
the 5th chromosome so it can happen to boys and girls. There is also no particular
chromosome it is located on. It s not on a chromosome it s a genetic disorder that is
caused by a missing chromosome. It is also neither dominant or recessive, the reason
being that it is not inherited because it is a random
Attention Problems In Children
The need for better treatment options for individuals with learning and attention
problems is evidenced by the millions of children who are diagnosed with
neurodevelopmental disorders every day. Neurodevelopmental disorders (i.e.,
learning disabilities such as dyslexia, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
represent a major national problem. According to the US Census Bureau s American
Community Survey (ACS, 2006), an estimated 6.3% of children ages 5 15 have a
disability, which amounts to 2.8 million children in the United States. Of those, many
children are diagnosed with learning disabilities and attentiondeficit hyperactivity
disorder, who typically receive services in school under the Individuals with

A new area of research, neurofeedback, extends the functionality of EEG as a
diagnostic tool into a method of treatment. It is based on the scientific foundation
of operant learning, where behavior is increased or decreased based on the

(LORETA) is a more advanced form of NF that extends surface EEG NF. It works
by using data from 19 channels to localize cortical and subcortical current density,
which has the potential to greatly extend the scope and efficacy of NF.
Neurofeedback is a biofeedback technique that facilitates self awareness and
behavioral control by making the electrical activity of a person s brain observable on

NF for the treatment of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities in learning or

Coca Col The Invention Of A Pharmacist
History, product / services, major customers, major suppliers, and leadership, and

in 1866 in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. John S. Pemberton created a syrup to be added to
carbonated water and served at soda fountains. Dr. Pemberton did not live long
enough to see his invention become the worlds s #1 selling sparkling beverage
(World). Pemberton was fortuitous in that he sold portions of his business before
his death. The largest portion was sold to Asa Candler, who began to distribute the
soda to other areas besides Atlanta. What was originally just a fountain soda was
about to make its mark across the world in its distinctive bottle and advertisement
jingles, leaving its brand throughout each home. For 99 years, Coca Cola kept the
same formula. Then in 1985, two months before my high school graduation,
tragically, Coca Cola announced the New Coke, which was later called Coke II. With
the entire backlash, this didn t last very long. By July, old Coca Cola was returning

The Effects Of Social And Emotional Development On
Children
Social and Emotional is as important as physical and motor development. Physical
and motor development are much easier to observe than social and emotional
development but it doe not dismiss how important this concept is. It is through
social and emotional development that a child self awareness and their ability to
regulate body and behavior. Transition is very important for the success of a child
in school and social life. When a child is aware that he or she is separate from their
environment than they can began to process and understand the world and
establish meaningful relationships through their work or play. In order to
understand the data and analysis of the children we must keep in mind that each
child is unique in his or her rate of growth and development and there will be major
milestone differences. This paper focuses on the observations of social and emotional
development in children ages 3 years to 8 years old. For my observations I picked
two girls and one boy. My first child is a little boy blonde baby with brown eyes by
the name of Oliver. He was born on January 10th, 2013 and is now 3 years old.
Oliver is very energetic he loves to play outdoors. He is very self reliant and
follows instruction when asked to do a task. Oliver was observed in the three year
old classroom at the Child and Family Research Center (CFRC) on the University of
Nevada, Reno Campus. Center (CFRC). Oliver is right on track compared to other

We will use Cardona et al. s (2012) approach to risk where we will assess risk using
three main components: hazard, exposure, and vulnerability. In our framework, OA
is the hazard. Exposure refers to marine resources that are directly important to
communities in the Gulf Coast. Vulnerability is made up of two dimensions:
sensitivity and adaptive capacity. The total disaster risk is based on the intersection
of the hazard, the assets exposed to the hazard, and a system s vulnerability to the
hazard (Figure 1). In our study, OA is the environmental hazard and it is projected to
change over time.
Methodology to estimate Hazard, Exposure, Vulnerability and Risk
Hazard: We will use in situ data collected from the northern Gulf and data from the
NOAA Ocean Acidification Program s OAPS after fine tuning some of the OAPS
algorithms for the northern Gulf of Mexico region to analyze the trends of ocean
acidification parameters in the northern Gulf. The trends will then be correlated with
sensitivity of the vulnerability and resilience of the communities in various OA
scenarios.
Exposure: Exposure to the OA levels in the Gulf of Mexico is related to the marine
resources that are important to communities and that are susceptible to OA. Because
OA affects differently to different marine resources, we will restrict the study to the
species that are negatively

Rewards also can give from organization in money. Schwab (1985), devide rewards
to three types, the works it self, Human Resource policy and social enviroment. He
also said, the rewards is factors of motivation highly effective because can help

Rewards divided into two part the first part is intrinsic rewards and extrinsic
rewards, there is a difference the two is rewarded. Intrinsic rewards actually fulfills
employee s intrinsic factors or motivatiors and thus motivates the works. Example of
intrnsic rewards is giving challenging task, involving in desicion making process, but
the employee do not required to increased their salary as well and employee may be
working at higher management rank without increase in the salary and still more
motivated. Meaning of extrinsic rewards is refer to motivation that comes from

A Post-Apocalyptic Era in The Maze Runner
SETTING The Maze Runner is taken place in the post apocalyptic era. The
characters are in the middle of a massive maze. The shelter in the middle is called the
Glade.
PLOT
The Maze Runner is about a boy named Thomas who is brought to a place called
the Glade. He arrives there in a big elevator that they call the Box. Thomas has no
memory about how he got in the Box or who he is. The only thing he knows is his
name. When he gets out of the Box he is greeted by a group of about 50 teenage
boys called the Gladers. He is overwhelmed with all the new information about the
society. The Glade is a settlement in the middle of a huge maze. No one knows how
they got there and why they are there. Every week the creators send a supply of
food, and every month they send a new boy to the Glade. In the maze, there are gross
creatures with spikes called Grievers. If stung by a Griever, you can remember things
about the past. But before you can remember the past, you will go through an
extremely painful experience called the Changing. Every night, the gates close,
keeping the Gladers safe from the Grievers at night. Randall 2 They day after

An Encounter with Prostitution Essay
An Encounter with Prostitution
It was a busy Saturday afternoon at the Sea tec Mall, many different people
walking in and out of the large department stores and inside the interior of the mall.
However, the vast majority of people walking among the mall were groups of
young teenage girls. The mall has become the major hangout for teenagers, where
both males and females roam to show themselves off to people of the opposite sex.
I noticed two girls at the food court, where they were in line waiting to buy coffee
from Starbucks. One of them, whom I shall call Melissa, was approximately twenty
years old. She was wearing a white cotton tank top and a pair of denim shorts. Her
long, golden brown hair was tied in a tight ponytail that ... Show more content on

Apparently they bathed in the sun together, because she and Melissa had exactly the
same tan hue on their skins. Her pant legs covered her long legs perfectly, bunching
up a bit as they met a pair of white athletic shoes, a bit more dirty than the
immaculate sneakers Melissa wore. After receiving their coffee from the
Starbucks vendor, both girls walked past the table I sat at. They both passed fairly
close, enabling me to smell the lotion they had on. The aroma left behind was a
combination of peach and another type of fruit, apparently a lotion that this highly
materialistic faction of society buy in gallons. Their conversation sounded to be a
discussion of which store to visit next, apparently at least 6 bags of stuff bought
between the three of them was enough to justify a good trip to the mall. As they
walked out of the food court, countless eyes watched them as they walked like
models on the runway. Loner guys with acne problems stared at them and thought a
thousand lewd thoughts, while parents looked at Melissa and wondered what type
of parent would allow their child to dress like that. They continued to walk to their
store of choice, flaunting their wares to the passing groups of guys. Melissa s hair
bounced against her back as she walked, as Stephanie s hair seemed to bounce up and
down. Melissa s leg muscles flexed and relaxed in a smooth rhythm as she walked
majestically along the crowded walkway, her

Writing Persuasive Essay.pdf

  • 1. Writing Persuasive Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Writing Persuasive Essays" presents a unique set of challenges that require careful consideration and strategic planning. The task involves not only conveying information effectively but also convincing the audience of a particular viewpoint or argument. Crafting a persuasive essay demands a deep understanding of the subject matter, a keen awareness of the target audience, and the ability to employ persuasive techniques. One of the initial challenges lies in selecting a compelling and relevant topic. The chosen subject must be interesting to the audience and allow for a persuasive stance. Once the topic is established, the writer needs to conduct thorough research to gather evidence and supporting details. This step requires time, patience, and critical thinking to ensure that the arguments presented in the essay are well-founded and compelling. Structuring the essay is another complex aspect. A persuasive essay typically follows a clear structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each section plays a crucial role in building the overall persuasiveness of the essay. The introduction should grab the reader's attention, present a clear thesis statement, and outline the main arguments. The body paragraphs should delve into each argument, providing evidence and logical reasoning. Transitions between paragraphs must be smooth to maintain the flow of the essay. The conclusion should summarize the key points and leave a lasting impression on the reader. Balancing ethos, pathos, and logos is essential for an effective persuasive essay. Ethos involves establishing the writer's credibility, pathos appeals to the reader's emotions, and logos relies on logical reasoning. Striking the right balance among these elements is challenging but crucial for persuading the audience. Additionally, refining language and style to engage the reader further complicates the writing process. Crafting compelling sentences, choosing precise vocabulary, and maintaining a coherent and cohesive writing style contribute to the overall impact of the essay. In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay is a multifaceted task that requires a combination of research skills, critical thinking, and mastery of persuasive techniques. It demands careful planning and execution to create a well-structured and convincing piece. For those who find themselves struggling with this intricate process, there are resources available, such as HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and much more can be ordered to assist in navigating the complexities of persuasive writing. (10) Research leads to a new style of life and makes it delightful and glorious . Emphasizing the importance of research Louis Pasteur said I beseech you to take interest in these sacred domains called laboratories. Ask that there be more and that they be adorned for these are the temples of the future, wealth and well being. It is here that humanity will learn to read progress and individual harmony in the works of nature, while humanity s own works are all too often those of babarism, fanaticism and destruction. (Louis Paster article by S.Mahanti, Dream 2047, p.29 34 (May 2003)). In order to know what it means to do research one may read scientiп¬Ѓc autobiographies like Richard Feynmann s Surely you are joking, Mr.Feynmann! , Jim Watson s The double helix , Science as a way of life A biography of C.N.R. Rao by Mohan Sundararajan, etc. C. Importance of Research Research is important both in scientiп¬Ѓc and nonscientiп¬Ѓc п¬Ѓelds. In our life new problems, events, phenomena and processes occur every day. Practically implementable solutions and suggestions are required for tackling new problems that arise. Scientists have to undertake research on them and п¬Ѓnd their causes, solutions, explanations and applications. Precisely, research assists us to understand nature
  • 3. Lupe As A Role Model Most people think being a role model is like a popularity contest, they think it s easy. People think all they have to do is fit in with the crowd so they can be popular. But being a role model is not an easy task, although Lupe makes it look that way when she doesn t even fit in. In the story, The MarbleChamp, by Gary Soto, Lupe is a very good role model. Lupe shows this by being a good sport, always working hard, and by being intelligent. One reason why I think Lupe is a good role model is because she is very intelligent. As proof, Lupe s academic grades are straight A s. This shows that Lupe is intelligent because not many people get straight A s on their report card every year of school. Secondly, Lupe is intelligent because she has won multiple awards. For example, Lupe won the school spelling bee, she won the blue ribbon award in the science fair, she was the winner of a reading contest at the library three summers in a row, she was also the top student in her piano recital, and she was the playground champion of chess. Talk about a ton of awards, right? Lupe feels like none of these awards mean anything though. Degeneration of Kurtz and Colonialism in Heart of Darkness Kurtz was a personal embodiment, a dramatization, of all that Conrad felt of futility, degradation, and horror in what the Europeans in the Congo called progress, which meant the exploitation of the natives by every variety of cruelty and treachery known to greedy man. Kurtz was to Marlow, penetrating this country, a name, constantly recurring in people s talk, for cleverness and enterprise. Marlow also spoke to Kurtz s journalist colleague, who remembered about Kurtz: Heavens! how that man could talk! He electrified large meetings. He had the faith don t you see he had the faith. He could get himself to believe anything anything (Conrad 71). The other thing Kurtz met in the Congo was silence. The dialogue became a monologue, because the other side of the conversation is only wilderness. Kurtz s whole orientation in the Congo was based on the quest for ever increasing quantities of ivory. In this lay the weakness of Kurtz, for he wanted something, unlike his Russian companion. Kurtz s intelligence, his ideas, and his plans, were captive to his status as ivory gatherer. Kurtz s rejection of the validity of the unsound method was not the problem. The problem with Kurtz, which Marlow does not realize, is not that Kurtz went native, but that he did not go native enough. In other words, Kurtz did not abandon the ivory fetish. Kurtz s link with colonialism is therefore his undoing, even in the individual decay he undergoes. Epistemological Enquiry into Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Regarded as a canonical example of Gothic Fiction, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein stands as a classical debate between scientific endeavour and philosophical understanding. This behavior can be explained by taking a look back to her experiences growing up at Gateshead. Jane was heavily ignored, rejected, and even hated by the majority of the people at Gateshead and was reduced to having to read as her only comfort and escape from her situation. This, having to constantly be careful not to anger Mrs. Reed, and having to deal with being constantly abused by John Reed understandably left her lonely and critical

The unfortunate chain of events at the story s conclusion and the Miller s extreme amusement in response to the story enable the reader to become privy to the Miller s unique agenda. The strongest scene in he book would have to be when Walter turned down the money he would get for not moving into the neighborhood . I felt this took a lot of guts on his part. I also thought that this was a turning point in the novel. By Walter not accepting the money it showed that he not only grew through out the play, but also that he put many things into perspective. His family became the most integrate part of his life, by the end of the novel he realized what was more important. Walter seems to be overcome with a search for power and a drive to become wealthy and leave the life of being a worker behind him. It also shows that he cares for his family seeing how he is striving to give them the best, but that aspect is overshadowed by his greed. I feel the scene also shows the Younger family at its lowest point in the movie. Walter is on the complete edge and is thinking of stealing a community s money and the rest of the family, besides Momma, seemed to lose their faith and trust in him. When things seemed hopeless with the loss of the money, they only became worse as a loss in more than money occurred. A loss in their character, faith, history, and respect for each other overcame the family, particularly Walter and Beneatha. Nevertheless, Momma soon sets Beneatha straight with an emotional and positive speech about how there is always something left to love and sets the standard that the family should adhere to. It marks the turning point at the end of the movie There were few differences between the movie and the book Raisin in the Sun. I felt that the movie just gave you a visual to understand and relate to the characters more. The one major difference between the two was the sequence of events from the movie to the book. The most dramatic scene for me was when Bobo tells Walter Lee that Willie ran off with his money. I really felt that he was going to physically hurt Bobo. I chose this scene because I

More specifically, the figure of the woman is predominantly delineated in white color, especially pale, ashen white, as far her apparel and facial complexion are concerned, while there are also various hues of grey, with respect to her hair and accessory feather. These white and grey shades are vividly contrasted with the prevailing red and crimson hues of the background (viz. the drape, armchair, and table). Moreover, one can detect colors of dark green (jewelry), some beige on the left (pillar), and darker or lighter shades of blue on the right side of the canvas (sky), which all in concert and in addition to the subtle purple hue forming the sun or moon exude a certain dramatic sentiment. Also, there is brown, which often easily segues into gold (viz. books and attire details respectively). The main contrast of colors between white and red would be interpreted as serving the purpose of rendering the figure of the woman, and especially her face, the focal point of the work, despite, paradoxically enough, the lush red shades at the background. Bearing that in mind, the significance of the woman s face will be enlarged upon later, when discussing aspects of her identity. Drug Use And Its Effects On Society Despite the issues regarding the scientific studies, evidence has drawn positive links suggesting people who use drugs are more likely to engage in criminal activity than non users if simply because they are breaking the law to obtain the substance of use. Research does support this contention as people who are arrested for various crimes test positive to be under the influence of a drug at the time they committed their offense. However, the evidence remains elusive as to whether the drug use led to the crimeor the crime was separate from the drug use and related needs (i.e., money to buy drugs, territorial wars, etc.). Because of inconsistent data and definitions in reporting, statistical evidence is not empirical enough to draw hard conclusions regarding the relationship between drugs, including alcohol, and crime, or to quantify how much of that crime begins with the innocent seeming lighting up of a marijuana cigarette. In addition, when more than one drug is present, it is difficult to assess which of the two or more might have induced or inspired the criminal behavior, if any. The association between alcohol and violence illustrated through various studies makes it clear that correlations between drug use and crime are greater complicated through the presence of other dynamics such as socio demographic and personality characteristics. Given these cautions regarding the research and studies then, it is interesting to note that studies limited to marijuana only do not

Antigone decides that it is the gods laws that are to be obeyed rather than human laws and acts accordingly. As a result, Antigone is the protagonist of this play because her actions are the direct focus and defining factors that illustrate the playwrights meaning and purpose. • 26. Violation Of Social Norms At a very early age, children learn about social norms to help them become proper citizens in society. Examples of some social norms that students learn are: do not yell in the library, do not speak unless spoken to, do not talk to strangers, and close the door when you use the restroom. As you grow older, these rules become unspoken because everyone knows how to act like a proper individual in society. The textbook definition of a social normis something that is a rule of behavior that society accepts. (Bicchieri) Since everyone knows these unsaid rules of society, what would happen when someone decides not to follow these rules? What would people think and react? In this paper, I discuss my violation of the social normdon t talk to strangers and discuss what I learned from this experiment. The social norm that I chose to violate was initiating conversation and talking to strangers on public transportation. By doing this I deviated from the unspoken rule which says that you should not talk to strangers and that you should not interact with others on public transportation because of the possibility of them harming or assaulting you. From doing this activity, I learned that power dynamics exist in every situation and that by violating a social norm I, as a young woman, put myself in a vulnerable position. I chose to make this decision to talk to strangers on public transport because it seemed relatively safe and within my zone of comfort, considering

In A Doll s House, Nora deceived Helmer in result of her selfishness and immaturity. It began with small, innocent, white lies about her consumption of macaroons into the reader s realization that Nora had lied to Helmer about the fact that she had borrowed money and more specifically that she had forged her way into borrowing money from Krogstad. Although, Nora did save Helmer from dying, it didn t make it right for Nora to keep this from him and almost costing Helmer his job. He didn t question it, rather he trusted his wife and didn t think for a second she had done something imprudent to gather the money. In A Doll s House, we see how Helmer avoids being in debt with anyone since he thinks there shouldn t be a need with the ammount of money he earns from his hard worked salary. Nora thought otherwise, when Helmer was ill her primary doing was to go directly to a person and borrow money for both Helmer s treatment, and her luxurious trip even if she knew her husband was going to be against it all. It was already bad enough that Nora had gone against her husband s wishes, yet she raised the bar by forging her way through the process of recieving a loan. Nora signed Krogstad s loan contract, only for him to later find out that she had forged her father s signature so that she d be able to borrow the money. Apart from that, Nora not only kept this a secret from Helmer, but spent recklessly on objects that weren t all that needed knowing that she was in debt with Krogstad. Nora kept all this from Helmer in fear of his abandonment. However, it shouldn t have been that way, since Helmer was always honest to Nora and that same honesty was expected in return. Overall, Nora s motives for her deceptions against Helmer in A Dolls house, shouldn t be justified since she was supposed to come clean handed to Helmer about her problems. For when someone is married, the spouse s problem involves the other one too. This wasn t something the author did unintentionally, for he portrayed how a small lie can escalate into a huge dilemma, and even lead to a marriage

How Does Robert Hayden Use Imagery In Those Winter Sundays Robert Hayden s poem, Those Winter Sundays , focuses in upon the narrator who is looking back upon their younger years and their relationship with their father. The poem then further elaborates on this concept, keeping it as the focal point of the poem, through use of imagery. Robert Hayden uses imagery a great deal to describe, in depth, not only the setting, but the very nature of the father and the narrator s relationship. Parallels can be drawn between the use of imagery, the bitter and frigid winter days, and the narrator s cold relationship with his father. Thus, by exploring the use of imagery in the poem the father and narrator s relationship becomes clearer. Warmth and coldness are two main pieces of imagery that are invoked by

Wall Street also helps boost other industries within America, thereby making it vital for the American economy. As Wall Streetis one of the most important financial institutions in the world and provides more positive aspects for the economy than negative ones. Wall Street is extremely important for the American economy. Jeff Madrick, the editor of Challenge: The Magazine of Economic Affairs, in his piece Does America need Wall Street , cites historian Alfred Chandler, who argued that the majority of the money put into America during industrialization came from corporate profits (Madrick). Those profits were able to make technological advances for all Americans. Daniel Indiviglio, former associate editor of the Atlantic, states that Wall Street is also important to the economy because it helps banks create capital (Indiviglio). That bank capital helps create jobs in the economy by causing more money to be available to be put into the economy. Auguste Rodin s Gates Of Hell Essay 2: An Analysis of Figural Movement and Non Textual Depictions of Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy in the Sculptural Motivations of Auguste Rodin s Gates of Hell. The primary motivation for Auguste Rodin s Gates of Hell are based on the desire to interpret Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy through amore individual response to the text. Rodin avoided a traditional interpretation of Dante s narrative by creating his own form of chaotic view of hell through a modern 19th century perspective. During this the middle to late 19th century, Rodin sought shift the focus away from literary interpretations of art, which had become the dominant form of interpretation of classical themes in France. The #1 pan can be used for so many different things from cakes to brownies and if you are daring enough, a very interesting gelatin mold. The first time I used this for gelatin I loaded it up with fruit and no one even noticed that it was the shape of a number. You live, you learn, you lay off the fruit. If you can mix up a box of cakebatter, set a timer and spread on some icing you can make this cake for any event or celebration and save a ton of money over buying a store bought one. The biggest perk is being able to use the colors and decorations you want and knowing exactly what s in it. Some of the obvious uses are for the first place team in a sporting event, first birthdays and of course Mother s Day but you can also use it for someone s eleventh birthday, showing someone that they are number one in your life or add it to a larger cake for a tiered look. You can also shave off the serifs and make it into a brick shape if you need something like that. Average baking time is about twenty to twenty five minutes with a cool time of at least fifteen. Decorating is easy because of the simple shape of it and you can customize it any way that you like. Exposure refers to marine resources that are directly important to communities in the Gulf Coast. Vulnerability is made up of two dimensions: sensitivity and adaptive capacity. The total disaster risk is based on the intersection of the hazard, the assets exposed to the hazard, and a system s vulnerability to the hazard (Figure 1). In our study, OA is the environmental hazard and it is projected to change over time.
