Sparring Research Paper
Sparring It is your first time putting on your gear, with excitement running through your body. You go
from sitting on the side lines watching, from finally getting to know what it is like to spar. You line up
according to rank, and you turn and bow to your instructor, and then your fellow classmate who you
will be sparring. You step back and giup, as everyone else does, and your instructor calls start. As you
walk forward and start, you notice it is not as easy as it seems. As a white belt you also notice you
cannot just simply jump in and get everything down at that exact time, but you notice how you will
have to practice this your entire lifetime of taekwondo. Sparring is a way to practice your basic
fundamental techniques and advanced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tournament sparring is much more competitive. It is where you finally put your training to the test,
and try your best to win or achieve your goal. There are different types to levels of sparring as well,
such as states, or national. Some sparring tournaments allow full contact where knock out is allowed.
In a standard sparring match, you versus opponents with the same rank and usually people within the
same age range. Judges stand in the four corners of the rings, and when someone makes contact on
another person without being blocked, it is a point. In a sparring match, the opponents might clash
which means both strike each other at the same time, and no points are counted. All points usually
count as one, but if someone throws a successful and controlled kick to the head with slight touch, it is
two points. Three rounds will usually occur and whoever has the most points by the end of the rounds
will win. From there, the winners from each round will continue to spar until there is one final winner.
The winners will either get some sort or trophy or medal for the place they come in. When you walk
away from a tournament, you will always learn some sort of lesson. It might be about what to do
better next time, or how you should treat every opponent with

Nikki Webber Allen s Speech Analysis
For my effective essay, I will be talking about Nikki Webber Allen and how she dealt with depression
and anxiety. Nikki Webber Allen believed for her being a black woman it was hard for her to express
her emotions and how she was doing as a person. In her speech, she speaks about the community she
comes from depression was a weakness. The signs of depression are lack of interest, eating behaviors
change, insomnia. The speaker was alone on stage with some small audiences which she used a
headset mic to which allowed her to sound very confident of what she was talking about. Nikki had

teenagers and adults allowing their secrets deep inside without having help. Having feelings isn t a
sign of weakness, it means we are humans she stated, with her sharing the story of her personal issues
that may inspire others to get help and find ways to not end their lives. Her goal is to send the message
of how depression and anxiety can be helped but never completely gone. Her message was very

Causes And Disadvantages Of Intercultural Communication
It may seem that communication is not a complicated process because people communicate everyday
and it is nothing special for them. Communication is a process divided into verbal and nonverbal
communication which are included in every kind of communication in intercultural as well. That is
why while speaking about intercultural communication people meet with problems and obstacles. It
comes usually from problems with transmissing the messages. People from the same culture have
same values, behaviours, beliefs and language so when person who receive the message interprate it,
that message is likely similar to the idea of what the person who sent it mean. However, if the reciver
or sender is a person from a different culture who has different ... Show more content on

Angela K. Y. Leung (2011) singles out two obstacles in the intercultural communication which are the
most major and common among people. First of them is an obstacle called Person Level Obstacle. It
describes that there are two types of people. There are people who has no problem while
communication with people from other culture and they are curious about them and have no problems
with communication however, the group of people who has problems while having a contact with
people with other values, beliefs and from other culture is bigger. Those people often feel distressed
and anxious. Some of people may even experience a cultural shock when it comes to the meeting (A.
K. Y Leung, 2011), (p. 245). It happens because both of them possesses different beliefs, values,
behaviours and even gestures. Another obstacle is close mindedness. According to Leung (2011),
People who are open to experience have a predisposition to learn from new cultural experiences and
engage in intercultural interactions . Those people are curious about people from different culture,
they would like to know it, but there are also people with low levels of openness and they may find
encountering foreign cultures to be overwhelming, shocking and even threathening (A.

Cleaning For Rich Products As A Transportation Intern
Over the last 6 months I have been interning for Rich Products as a Transportation Intern. A little
history of Rich s is that it was founded in 1945 by Robert E. Rich with Rich s Whipped Icing. The
company is 100% family owned and is the largest privately owned frozen food company in the U.S.
with about $3.7 billion in annual sales. Over the years they have grown and added many international
locations. Interning at a company this large has been a great experience.
I found the internship by searching on websites such as Indeed and saw that they were looking for
candidates that are enrolled in a supply chain major. I right away applied for this seeing as it was in
transportation. I was highly interested in transportation as I was enrolled in a class taught at Niagara
called Transportation Systems. I was able to differentiate myself from other job candidates by
explaining simulations we used in the class along with other transportation knowledge taught in
supply chain/logistics MGT321 course. This position was in their Customer Service and Logistics
department which consisted of a variety of different positions in their supply chain.
My first day I was given a tour of the building along with meeting everyone on the CS L team. I was
assigned a cubical along with all of the electronic devices and passwords. It was overwhelming to me
since I have never worked in an office setting this large. The people that I worked with wherein

Impact of the Secret Speech- Khrushchev
Gobbet 2 Khrusschev s Secret Speech
The Source is an extract of a speech given by Nikita Khrushchev at the Twentieth Party Congress of
the Soviet Union on February 25th 1956. Khrushchev served as First Secretary of the Communist
Party of the Soviet Union from 1953 to 1964, and as Chairman of the Council of Ministers, or
Premier, from 1958 to 1964. Khrushchev was responsible for the partial de Stalinization of the Soviet
Union, for backing the progress of the world s early space program, and for several relatively liberal
reforms in areas of domestic policy. Stalin s political heirs fought for power after his death in 1953, a
struggle in which Khrushchev, after several years, emerged triumphant. In 1956, at the Twentieth
Party Congress, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government would now rule now not by terror and compulsion, but by calling on the initiative of
the people and their co operation. Khrushchev launched the de Stalinization campaign for internal
reasons, and in the teeth of strong opposition from Stalinists such as Molotov, Malenkov and
Voroshilov. The speech achieved its purpose, at least within the Communist party of the Soviet Union.
It drew a firm line under the Stalinist era, acknowledging its monstrosities and disasters while
preserving the fiction that the present Communist leadership bore no responsibility. Khrushchev
became secure in power and won a relatively free hand to reform the Soviet economy and liberalize
the apparatus of terror. In addition to this old Stalinists such as Molotov were removed from their
positions. A period of liberalization followed which was known as Khrushchev s Thaw. This was a
chain of unprecedented steps to free people from fear and dictatorship. Two climactic acts of de
Stalinization marked the process firstly, on October 31, 1961, Stalin s body was removed from its
mausoleum in Red Square and reburied, and secondly, on November 11, 1961, the hero city Stalingrad
was renamed to Volgograd. However the power struggle between liberals and conservative pro
Stalinists never stopped, and it eventually weakened the Soviet Communist Party. However the real

Pirates Relationship In Treasure Island
These scenes are different, as in the setting and the way they happen in the story. However, pages 13
14 and 34 35 do share a common idea about the pirates relationships and views of one another. On
pages 13 and 14, the interaction between Black Dog and the captain is friendly at first, but quickly
escalates to violence once they begin arguing and soon after, fighting each other. Black Dog and Bill
were old shipmates, which would make the reader assume that they would have a strong bond, or at
least still somewhat of a friendship. This excerpt from the chapter explains that the pirates obviously
did not feel a sense of kindness for one another. In the next scene, on page 34, when Pew insults the
pirates and explains how he faced Bill, it shows that he feels no sense of empathy or friendship to the
pirates, not even the captain. When Pew makes an attempt to attack the men, it helps show that he
does not care for them. The pirates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men in the story do work together to accomplish something, but it does not take much for the
pirates to turn against each other. For example, some of the characters, such as Pew or Jim, want the
captain s riches. Soon after the captain died, his crew began to backstab each other to gain his wealth.
The relationships of the pirates in the Golden Age of Piracy are not shown as loyal team members.
While the pirates are self centered, clearly they need and depend on each other, otherwise it would be
every man for himself. Why else would they still be together as a crew if they did not need each other?
The men act as a crew, but as soon as they discover treasure or riches, they would without a doubt beat
each other up to get to it. A reason the pirates do not have good relationships is because they are using
each other for their own survival, rather than caring about one another s

The Fall Of Singapore And The Malaya Campaign
The events of World War Two such as the failed Malaya campaign, the fall of Singapore, the bombing
of Pearl Harbour and the stretched resources of Britain, led to Australia developing a more

Britain, Australia and the United States of America has led to a substantial impact on shaping
Australian society and where Australia are today. The fall of Singapore and the Malaya campaign

surrender of all British and Empire forces in Singapore. This horrific event caused many Australians
to fear for the safety of the nation. A well known newspaper at the time wrote:
Australia sent her best men and some of her equipment now sorely needed at home to relieve British

The Canberra Times)
This article indicates Britain couldn t provide assistance for Australia which was under threat by the
Japanese despite Australia supplying its available resources to Britain which was in a desperate
struggle to win against Nazi Germany (Mason, 2014 pg. 200). This was a significant issue for
Australia as they saw Britain as their protector within Asia and counted on their strong military force
which was weak in the Pacific due to the fall of Singapore as they were no longer able to use
Singapore as a place for communication and supplies. This cartoon from the Daily Telegraph created
towards the end of the fall of Singapore, corroborates with the newspaper quote above:

Food Log Report From Diet Plus
In my food log, I tracked my food and liquid consumption for five days in a row. I thought this was
interesting process, but I kinda of liked it. At some points of the process I thought it was kinda of
difficult to remember to log the food I ate on the computer. But, ultimately I thought it was worth it
because I got to see all the macro and micro nutrients I consumed which is something I don t always
get to see.
I would saw that my consumption of kcals were around the same range. Out of the five days I tracked
my intake, I ranged around 1,000 kcals a day. I guess you could say that I don t really a good variety
of foods in my diet, so I would definitely change that by adding more fruits and vegetables. I also
would make the change of eating a little bit more food, because I think only 1,000 kcals a day is a
little less. I think I will try to bum it up to 1,500 or 1533 which is my recommended DRI.
Looking at the combination report, it was in all the appropriate ranges from the AMDR range. I
consumed 47% percent of carbs, 24% of protein and 30 percent of fats. The benefit of being in the

The history is very interesting! The game was invented in 1839 by Doubleday! He invented it in New

The Demographic Transition Theory
Unlike society a few decades before, the life expectancy has increased and now America is seeing an
exponential growth to the elderly population. There are many factors that could be the cause of this.
Looking at the demographic transition theory in conjunction with the Malthusian theory brought
valuable insight for me. The demographic theory says there are four stages to population growth that
are predictable. Those who are in their late 80 s and above were capable of seeing all four of these
stages in America. As they aged and the stages for population advanced so did technology. Malthusian
theory claims that there are three factors that prevents the human population exceed its carrying
capacity, which are food, disease, and war. Those who lived through the four stages of America were
lucky enough to see technology advance to prevent those factors in being lethal to our population. It
became possible for adults to live on to see their grandchildren and eventually their great
grandchildren. However, having life for so long isn t always the best. There s a quote from the movie
The Dark Knight which I believe applies to this situation, You either die a hero or live long enough to
see yourself become the villain. . This quote is evident in the film Living Old , because eventually you
reach an age where your body and mind regresses, which hurts your love ones. For example, in the
film Mary Ann DiBerardino daughter of Chester and Rosemary Haak has suffered seeing her parents

In the similar time period Japanese Yen has been in the third position with a turnover position of
20.8% in the year 2005. The overall financial market currency structure has seen a decline in the
turnover position of the US Dollar to 85% from a strong position of 88%. Similarly a decline has been
in the position of the Japanese Yen to 17.2% from an acceptable turnover position of 20.8%. While
considering the trend of these two currencies during the period starting from 2007 and ending at 2010,
it is to be noted that minute changes were seen in the two different currencies with regards to their
share in foreign currency market. The US Dollar witnessed a continued fall to 84.9% from its previous
85.6% however, the Japanese Yen saw a rise from its previous position of 17.2% to an increase of1.8%
that is 19%. During the same time period the US dollar and Japanese Yen were the second most traded
paired currencies and was traded at around 14% of the overall foreign currency market second to the
US Dollar and Euro pair. Conclusion The foreign exchange market has seen considerable changes
owing to the global financial crisis. It is to be seen how different factors like economy and global
politics further impact strong currencies like the US Dollar and other competing currencies such as the
Japanese Yen.

Human Genome Modification Essay
The warrant in my position is the evidence and testimonies of the success in human genome
modification. According to my sources in my annotated bibliography, human genome modification
has granted infants a second chance of life. Diseases that lie within an embryo from the parents can be
extracted and destroyed to prevent premature deaths. This procedure can prevent the embryo from
spreading a mutation or disease to their offspring in the future. Additionally, the different aspects of
my sources covers questions regarding how the procedure is done, ethics, the benefits, and successful
testimonies. The procedures are conducted by scientists and doctors who follow the restrictions on
human genome research of their respective counties. Furthermore, ... Show more content on

Since scientists and doctors nearly mastered the procedure, ethicists are concerned that curiosity may
result in further customizations of physical features of an embryo or, the new liberal eugenics. For
example, some parents may be open to the option of changing their child s eye color, natural physical
skills, hair color, and number of fingers. However, this is nearly impossible to do since authors of
scholarly journals, articles, and periodicals that supported my claim proved otherwise since
restrictions of human genome research is prominent by governments where this research is aloud.
Therefore, this warrant supports my claim the eugenics won t reemerge from human genome
modification since the government has existing regulations to prevent and punish any experiments
leading to the horrifying acts of eugenics. As I mentioned above, since this life saving research was
conducted on embryos, researchers have found new ways eliminate existing mutations and diseases.
For example, if an embryo developed a blood disorder, the scientist would be able to prevent the soon
to be infant from premature death or passing it on to its offsprings in the future. The sources that were
used in my annotated bibliography are all primary examples of the unlikely emergence

Computer Automation And Its Effect On The Information Age
1. With the availability of mainframe computers in the 1960s, commercial enterprises moved into the
information age. What was the result of this move to computer automation?
In 1960s, integrated circuits were developed which pushed the trend of using computers and laid down
the building blocks for using self governing systems (Groover). The use of computers by commercial
enterprises resulted in a variety of ways. Companies were able to operate on large scale there by
availing the advantages of economies of scale. Large amount of data handling and processing,
production and operation was started to be done by computers. The use of computers not only enabled
the companies to automate operations but also they were able to exercise more effective control
systems. A survey conducted by the Mc GrawHill Company in 1963 showed that 21000 out of 32000
manufacturing companies were using some automatic control and data handling systems
(Encyclopaedia). Human error was reduced since computers were able to perform complicated data
processing with efficiency and accuracy. At that time it also created a gap between large and small
organization as the computers were costly and required huge investments and small businesses could
not afford to install them. In your opinion how could this change affect the life of a common man?
2. What did companies in the 1960s forecast the future to be like after computer automation was fully

Dependence
As a child, you become dependent on your parents. Dependence starts at birth, a newborn must be fed
every few hours. The excessive diaper changes and constant burping, one must depend on their

upon them but, it s a need. Throughout this dependence one creates a special place in their heart for
their caregiver. This special place leads to defense in their honor and creates feelings for one as a

Act 8 Called To Be Church
In reading, Acts 8 and Called to be Church. There are so many patterns of conversion that can be

is their story of conversions.
When Philip arrived in Samaria, Simon was amazed by the power of God working in Philip s life, that
Simon repented and became a believer, baptized and saved (Act 8:22). However, Simon being a

Acts 8 tells us, this man was in Jerusalem to worship the God of Israel, but was not saved. However,
he gains religion from hearing the preaching, in a revival under the leading of Peter and John in
Samaritan City. The story goes, that God sought after this man, after he left Samaritan City and
divinely leading Philip to him, in a desert place. As if, it was a divine election of God s sovereign will.
Acts 8:26 40 tells us, an angel appeared to Philip and told him to go join this man in the chariot. Later
riding down the road, Philip baptized the man in the water that they come upon and the Spirit of the
Lord took Philip away. As this man witnessed what just happened, he left the scene rejoicing. This
opened the door for all Gentiles to be saved by God. Later, the story goes on to say, some ancients
viewed this man to be the father of evangelism in Ethiopia (Carter and Earle, p. 122).
For me, I had a different, but the similar pattern as the eunuch s conversion. In 1994, responding to a

PICA
Life Span Psych
Sitting at the park on a marvelous day watching the kids play in the park, then it happens one kid starts
eating dirt. Wondering why he s doing it, and what s his motive? Intrigued, I go home and research the
symptoms and I come up with one word: Pica. But what exactly is Pica? Pica is a very rare disorders
with an interesting history, where signs and symptoms help diagnosis the treatments for it.
Pica is a disorder in which you have an appetite or weird craving for things that have no nutritional

Eating paint is most common among children who live in poverty. It is often related with those who
have very little to no parental supervision. Hunger also may result in pica. Which of an inability to tell
the difference between food and nonfood items has linked people with mental handicap to Pica. This
answer, however, is not supported by the examples of nonfood items that were consciously eaten by
people with limited mental gifts.
Pica can go unnoticed, and is usually only discovered when a health problem strikes. It can remain
undetected for months or even years. Very often pica is detected when an individual suffers from an
intestinal blockage, intestinal tear, dental injury, or a poisoning infection linked with eating non food
substances. Blood tests will usually be carried out during, to determine if a mineral shortage could be
the cause. Pica is diagnosed in individuals who have routinely eaten non food substances for at least a
month, for whom this behavior is inappropriate to their developmental stage. Those who do not
consume these substances as part of a recognized cultural or religious practice will fit into the
category. Only a qualified doctor should make a diagnosis of Pica. Laboratory studies may be used to
access these answers. The choice of imaging or laboratory studies depends on the characteristics of the
ingested materials and the resulting medical problems. In addition to people having pica some animals

Indian Gaming Regulatory Act Case Study
The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed by the United States on October 17, 1988, to manage
gaming on tribal lands. It provided the main framework by providing a legislative basis for operation
of Indian gaming. It protected the right to game which encourages increases in revenue and economic
development within tribes. It also ensured that the games were fair and honest. This law established
the National Indian Gaming Commission, which is a independent federal regulatory agency within the
Department of Interior. This commission is the only federal agency that is solely purposed to manage
gambling, which sometimes involves other departments such as the U.S. Department of Justice. In my
opinion, Indian gaming is positive and most likely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most important of the Cs are communication and collaboration. Communication plays the most
important role because two separate entities tend to always have different ways of handling
government cases. They can easily misinterpret legislation because both do not have mutual
understanding or even a good relationship to begin with. This results in lack of knowledge in areas
related to Indian nations and passing of laws that unknowingly negatively impact tribal growth. This
can be see in many situations today such as environmental policy that can negatively impact natural
resources that Indian nations heavily depend on. Collaboration plays an important role because it is
necessary when dealing with tribal cases that require specific expertise. The correct resources are
required in striving to succeed with longterm legislative goals. Lawyers and political experts are
necessary in forming a platform to make impactful decisions especially dealing with higher levels of
courts within the U.S. Coalitions and interest groups also demonstrate this by collaborating multiple
parties to increase backing to push for specific critical issues. One of the reasons that prevent the 4Cs
from being part of the modern federal Indian relationship is the nature of the two party system.
Ongoing elections and shifting of new positions often prevent the 4Cs because competing ideologies

The Philosophies Of Aristotle And Confucius
What is virtue? The philosophies of Aristotle and Confucius establish virtue as a moral trait that
encompasses love, courage, good manners, and happiness. To achieve virtue, one must display
qualities of altruism and promote benevolence in every action. The virtuous person lives by a high
moral standard that is achieved through the habitual conditioning of disposition. Temperament is
trained by recurrently choosing the best course of action or the one that causes the least amount of
pain or suffering towards others. The virtuous person, in Confucian principles, performs in accordance
to ren to achieve the dao. According to Aristotle, the pinnacle of virtue is happiness. Therefore, the
philosophies of Aristotle and Confucius can be used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Confucius argues that the junzi treats all beings as equals regardless of where the person may lie in
any social structure that separates individuals living in wealth from those whom live in poverty. The
philosophy of the junzi, abiding by the aspects of ren is: Do not do unto others what you would wish
done to you (Confucius, 12.2). The argument by Confucius is that the person who lives in ren will
achieves dao, a world transformation where a person s temperament is harmonious with nature. The
conditions of the junzi compares to the ideas of a virtuous person as outlined by Aristotle, who argue
that a person of virtue constantly acts in a way in which their actions seek happiness, which is the
ultimate good. This resembles the idea of the junzi displaying ren to attain dao. Confucius and
Aristotle both agree that that virtue is neither taught nor learned, but rather something that comes from
habituation.
Aristotle states that: the proper excellence or virtue of man will be the habit or trained faculty that
makes a man good and makes him perform his function well (Aristotle, 42). In order for a person to
obtain virtue, their actions have to be one of second, almost first, nature. Virtue is a natural custom
that is performed via the natural will of a person and not from instruction. In the Analects of
Confucius, the Master talks about treating everyone as an honored guest when stepping out the front

Business 601 Reflection Essay
A Reflection of Business 601: Global Management Perspective A reflection of Business 601: Global
Management Perspective The business world today is more global than ever before. Every business
from manufacturing to fast food and coffee has gone to a global format. The market place that
businesses must compete for market share in is no longer just a domestic one, the competition they
will face is in the foreign market as well as in the digital market place. With the new ever changing
business world, the business plans that organizations utilize, must be updated and continuously

Then Starbucks focused on their global dominance just like McDonalds had previously. They let their
focus slide from keeping their current customers and only worrying about gaining new customers.
These missteps and the refocus of McDonalds, led to Starbucks losing the market share they had won
over, plus some that wasn t McDonalds before. The mistakes of McDonalds were realized and the
business plan was adapted. Starbucks really lost more in the end, because they made the same
mistakes they had benefited from earlier. Benchmarking is a good form of learning and growing as
your organization develops them into a global performer. When an organization is growing and
expanding, they will run into issues where they have successes and failures alike. The organization has
to take these and develop best practices to utilize going forward. These best practices or benchmarks
are what allows the organization to grow and what makes the organization grow. When mistakes are
made, these need to be documented and then a plan put into place that then passes the information
along, so that the organization as a whole learns from the mistakes of their predecessors.
Benchmarking and best practices can really save the organization time, resources and money. When a
best practice is established, you show where the mistake caused the organization a loss and then you

The Importance Of Government Regulation On Individual Freedom
Milton Freidman and Rose Freidman were two economists who met in Chicago, were married in
1938, and continued their careers together as economists. The two of them firmly held the belief that
any government regulation was an infringement on individual freedom. Freidman and Freidman s
minor thesis is that the government in a free society should be entirely limited to the following areas:
enforcing law and order, preventing coercion of one individual by another, enforcing legally binding
contracts and rights of private property owners, and providing resources for the defense and the
monetary system. They construct their assertion of government regulation being an infringement on
individual rights by generously providing a multitude of arguments in favor of their political view.
They commence by first stating that economic freedom, the freedom consumers possess to buy and
sell whatever they so choose, is a component of freedom properly understood, (p. 220) and therefore
to alter it is to place a curb on freedom. For example, if the government comes to a decision to pass a
law placing a quota on a manufactured good that consumers would have the aspiration to purchase but
are incapable of procuring enough money to purchase said product because its price has been altered
to become prohibitive, the freedom of the individual is henceforth imposed upon. Similarly, if the
government forces people to use the government provided postal service, then my freedom to set up a
competitive business in competition with the government service is curtailed. I only partially agree
with this political view. The government should actively attempt to interfere as little as possible, but
not to the extent Freidman and Freidman argue. Countries should have a free market but also set price
caps to forestall price gouging like during Hurricane Irma. In order to protect the people, the people
themselves have to sacrifice a certain amount of freedom. It is up to the people to decide how much.
For example, if we gave up every shred up freedom to the government and the government protected
us by never allowing us the privilege of exiting our homes, a dramatic reduction in murders and
robberies would take place, but we would not

The periods from 1763 1776 and 1848 1861 are similar in that they both share an escalation and

comparing the two periods in American history. The obvious is that both took place on American soil.
The led up to the American Revolution had many issues that the colonies were growing anger over
how the British Government handle them. An issue that can be compare between the both would be

rebellion. The differences is that the American Revoulation was an east verves west, for example
North Carolina. The farmers who live in the west hated anything that the eastern city folks supported.
The eastern normally supported the British government and big business, so the farmers in the west
would just hate the British, because of the fact that people in the eastern supported them. The led up to
the Civil War was north verves south. This is showed through all of the compromises leading up to the

“Girl” Barbie Doll
In the past, women were always considered the subordinate gender that was expected to powder their
nose and stay at home to be a homemaker. Even now, despite the movement to liberate women from
stereotypical gender roles, women are still seen as the inferior gender that is discriminated against in
society. As suggested by the popular Barbie doll created by Mattel, the idealized image of a woman in
our patriarchal society is one who takes care of the home and is flawlessly beautiful with perfect skin,
long legs, small waist, and slender figure. The Barbie doll is used as a tool for patriarchy in that it
reinforces the notion that women should be domestic workers and maintain a feminine outer
appearance. Also, patriarchal values affect girls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that this notion of femininity is so deeply rooted in our society, affects women in a negative
way, pressuring them to attain an unrealistic body image and a feminine outer appearance. Ultimately,
this notion that is associated with women leads them to feel inferior and weaker compared to men.
As young girls grow up surrounded by the perfect image of the Barbie doll, they begin not only to feel
pressured to obtain an idealized body image, but also to believe that it is the norm for women to be
domestic workers. The accessories sold with the Barbie doll illuminate the implication that women
should be domestic workers. For example, the Kitchen Barbie doll comes fully equipped with pots,
cooking utensils, apron, oven mitts, and baked goods. She comes packaged in a mini kitchen with an
oven, refrigerator, and sink. As young girls play with this doll, they build a positive and fun
association with working in the kitchen, and this encourages them to do the same in the future. In
addition, the accessories sold with the Babysitter Barbie doll also suggest that women should be
domestic workers. The accessories sold with this doll include a television set, DVD, stuffed animal
doll, and Kelly. Barbie is responsible of taking care of Kelly, and this reinforces the notion that
women should fulfill the domestic role of housewife and mother. As young girls grow up surrounded

The Struggles Accompanying Homosexuality in Tony Kushner s Angels in America
Set in the late 1980s, a period of regression and tragedy for the homosexual community, Tony Kushner
s play, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, explores the lives of four gay men
living in New York. Kushner s two part drama expounds some of the many difficulties encountered by
gays during this time period. While two of his characters, Joe Pitt and Roy Cohn, both struggle
significantly with their sexual orientation and identity, their troubles surface as a result of different
aspects of their lives. Joe Pitt, who, as it becomes clear, is a closeted homosexual, holds both political
and religious views that do not mesh well with his sexual orientation. Current Reaganite and lifelong
republican, Joe was raised on conservative, right wing values. As if that weren t enough, Joe is also a
Mormon and belongs to a religious community that forbids any sexual behavior between two people
of the same gender and deems such homosexual acts a sin punishable by a disciplinary council (
Homosexuality ). During his first homosexual encounter, Joe expresses his fears of punishment not
simply from his church community, but from God himself:
JOE: I... want... to touch you. Can I please just touch you... um, here? (He puts his hand on one side of
Louis s face. He holds it there.) I m going to Hell for doing this. (123)

Compare And Contrast The American Industrial System...
With the internal improvements spreading throughout early America during the 1830 and 1840s,

Manufacturers moved from being ran by small families to large business ran as the costs and

conditions and shorter workdays. With the rapidly growing industrialization, we start seeing a greater
need in the improvement of technology throughout America. Technologies such as the Francis

that continue to succeed. Furthermore, we see the ideology of Manifest Destiny play a role by creating

distance to another point on the hole.
Golf Club Distance
Knowing the distance to a target will help when you understand how far you hit the ball. Therefore,
nearly every GPS unit allows you to update and average how far you hit each club. The GPS tracks

The Golf GPS device will help you know the right distance from your location, your target and how

Gillette Innovation Case Study 17 Oct 2011
Michael Smurfit UCD Graduate Business School
University College Dublin

17 October 2011
GILLETTE INNOVATION
Gillette with over 70 percent market share in the wet shave market in both the US and Europe
dominated the category. This dominance was born from a relentless pursuit of better shaving
technology, a willingness to invest whatever was needed to manufacture its products effectively, and a
formulaic, integrated marketing strategy. Gillette prided itself on its innovations in shaving technology
and its ability to persuade consumers to trade up as new improved versions of existing razors were
launched. In 1990, the Gillette Sensor represented a breakthrough in shaving systems technology with
its twin blade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mockler promised shareholders a revolutionary, top secret shaving technology that would guarantee
large profits for many years. Despite desperately needing all its cash to fight off the take over battles,
the company s board granted the project more funds in 1986 and 1987, for the development of
manufacturing equipment. Robert
Murray, a Gillette vice president acknowledged the level of risk involved:
We held on to the company, in part, by promising a big winner. Sensor was a symbol of the new
Gillette . If it failed to deliver, we would have been vulnerable all over again. (The Economist, 15
April 1992).
Critics argued that the last thing any company should do when trying to conserve cash was to roll out
a multi million dollar new product. Gillette, however, was sending a clear message whatever problems
the company faced in other parts of its business, when it came to premium razors no expense was to
be spared for innovation.
Innovation and Branding at Gillette
Gillette had long stressed a steady flow of new product offerings in its core businesses: blades and
razors, Duracell batteries, Braun electric appliances, toiletries and cosmetics,
Oral B dental products, Parker pens and other stationery items. After Afred Zeien became
CEO of Gillette in February 1991, this flow surged into a torrent; the company introduced an average
of 20 new products annually. Throughout the

You step back and giup, as everyone else does, and your instructor calls start. As you walk forward and start, you notice it is not as easy as it seems. In a sparring match, the opponents might clash which means both strike each other at the same time, and no points are counted. All points usually count as one, but if someone throws a successful and controlled kick to the head with slight touch, it is two points. Three rounds will usually occur and whoever has the most points by the end of the rounds will win. From there, the winners from each round will continue to spar until there is one final winner. Communication is a process divided into verbal and nonverbal communication which are included in every kind of communication in intercultural as well. That is why while speaking about intercultural communication people meet with problems and obstacles. It comes usually from problems with transmissing the messages. • 5. Cleaning For Rich Products As A Transportation Intern Over the last 6 months I have been interning for Rich Products as a Transportation Intern. A little history of Rich s is that it was founded in 1945 by Robert E. Rich with Rich s Whipped Icing. The company is 100% family owned and is the largest privately owned frozen food company in the U.S. with about $3.7 billion in annual sales. Over the years they have grown and added many international locations. Interning at a company this large has been a great experience. I found the internship by searching on websites such as Indeed and saw that they were looking for candidates that are enrolled in a supply chain major. Impact of the Secret Speech- Khrushchev Gobbet 2 Khrusschev s Secret Speech The Source is an extract of a speech given by Nikita Khrushchev at the Twentieth Party Congress of the Soviet Union on February 25th 1956. Khrushchev served as First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1953 to 1964, and as Chairman of the Council of Ministers, or Premier, from 1958 to 1964. Khrushchev was responsible for the partial de Stalinization of the Soviet Union, for backing the progress of the world s early space program, and for several relatively liberal reforms in areas of domestic policy. Khrushchev launched the de Stalinization campaign for internal reasons, and in the teeth of strong opposition from Stalinists such as Molotov, Malenkov and Voroshilov. The speech achieved its purpose, at least within the Communist party of the Soviet Union. It drew a firm line under the Stalinist era, acknowledging its monstrosities and disasters while preserving the fiction that the present Communist leadership bore no responsibility. Khrushchev became secure in power and won a relatively free hand to reform the Soviet economy and liberalize the apparatus of terror. In addition to this old Stalinists such as Molotov were removed from their positions. A period of liberalization followed which was known as Khrushchev s Thaw. This was a chain of unprecedented steps to free people from fear and dictatorship. Two climactic acts of de Stalinization marked the process firstly, on October 31, 1961, Stalin s body was removed from its mausoleum in Red Square and reburied, and secondly, on November 11, 1961, the hero city Stalingrad was renamed to Volgograd. • 9. Pirates Relationship In Treasure Island These scenes are different, as in the setting and the way they happen in the story. However, pages 13 14 and 34 35 do share a common idea about the pirates relationships and views of one another. On pages 13 and 14, the interaction between Black Dog and the captain is friendly at first, but quickly escalates to violence once they begin arguing and soon after, fighting each other. Black Dog and Bill were old shipmates, which would make the reader assume that they would have a strong bond, or at least still somewhat of a friendship. This excerpt from the chapter explains that the pirates obviously did not feel a sense of kindness for one another. In the next scene, on page 34, when Pew insults the pirates and explains how he faced Bill, it shows that he feels no sense of empathy or friendship to the pirates, not even the captain. When Pew makes an attempt to attack the men, it helps show that he does not care for them. The pirates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The relationships of the pirates in the Golden Age of Piracy are not shown as loyal team members. Why else would they still be together as a crew if they did not need each other? There are many factors that could be the cause of this. Looking at the demographic transition theory in conjunction with the Malthusian theory brought valuable insight for me. The demographic theory says there are four stages to population growth that are predictable. Those who are in their late 80 s and above were capable of seeing all four of these stages in America. As they aged and the stages for population advanced so did technology. Malthusian theory claims that there are three factors that prevents the human population exceed its carrying capacity, which are food, disease, and war. Those who lived through the four stages of America were lucky enough to see technology advance to prevent those factors in being lethal to our population. The conditions of the junzi compares to the ideas of a virtuous person as outlined by Aristotle, who argue that a person of virtue constantly acts in a way in which their actions seek happiness, which is the ultimate good. This resembles the idea of the junzi displaying ren to attain dao. Confucius and Aristotle both agree that that virtue is neither taught nor learned, but rather something that comes from habituation. Aristotle states that: the proper excellence or virtue of man will be the habit or trained faculty that makes a man good and makes him perform his function well (Aristotle, 42). In order for a person to obtain virtue, their actions have to be one of second, almost first, nature. Virtue is a natural custom that is performed via the natural will of a person and not from instruction. When mistakes are made, these need to be documented and then a plan put into place that then passes the information along, so that the organization as a whole learns from the mistakes of their predecessors. • 27. The Importance Of Government Regulation On Individual Freedom Milton Freidman and Rose Freidman were two economists who met in Chicago, were married in 1938, and continued their careers together as economists. The two of them firmly held the belief that any government regulation was an infringement on individual freedom. Freidman and Freidman s minor thesis is that the government in a free society should be entirely limited to the following areas: enforcing law and order, preventing coercion of one individual by another, enforcing legally binding contracts and rights of private property owners, and providing resources for the defense and the monetary system. They construct their assertion of government regulation being an infringement on individual rights by generously providing a multitude of arguments in favor of their political view. They commence by first stating that economic freedom, the freedom consumers possess to buy and sell whatever they so choose, is a component of freedom properly understood, (p. 220) and therefore to alter it is to place a curb on freedom. For example, if the government comes to a decision to pass a law placing a quota on a manufactured good that consumers would have the aspiration to purchase but are incapable of procuring enough money to purchase said product because its price has been altered to become prohibitive, the freedom of the individual is henceforth imposed upon. Similarly, if the government forces people to use the government provided postal service, then my freedom to set up a competitive business in competition with the government service is curtailed. I only partially agree with this political view. The government should actively attempt to interfere as little as possible, but not to the extent Freidman and Freidman argue. Countries should have a free market but also set price caps to forestall price gouging like during Hurricane Irma. In order to protect the people, the people themselves have to sacrifice a certain amount of freedom. It is up to the people to decide how much. For example, if we gave up every shred up freedom to the government and the government protected us by never allowing us the privilege of exiting our homes, a dramatic reduction in murders and robberies would take place, but we would not ... Even now, despite the movement to liberate women from stereotypical gender roles, women are still seen as the inferior gender that is discriminated against in society. As suggested by the popular Barbie doll created by Mattel, the idealized image of a woman in our patriarchal society is one who takes care of the home and is flawlessly beautiful with perfect skin, long legs, small waist, and slender figure. The fact that this notion of femininity is so deeply rooted in our society, affects women in a negative way, pressuring them to attain an unrealistic body image and a feminine outer appearance. As young girls grow up surrounded by the perfect image of the Barbie doll, they begin not only to feel pressured to obtain an idealized body image, but also to believe that it is the norm for women to be domestic workers. The accessories sold with the Barbie doll illuminate the implication that women should be domestic workers. For example, the Kitchen Barbie doll comes fully equipped with pots, cooking utensils, apron, oven mitts, and baked goods. She comes packaged in a mini kitchen with an oven, refrigerator, and sink.
