Essay About The Disintegration Of Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia was a very successful country under the lead of Josip Broz Tito. Yugoslavia was made of 6
Republics and those were: Croatia, Montenegro ,Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia,
Macedonia and Kosovo together with Vojvodina which at that time were recognized as provinces.
After the death of Tito Yugoslavia began to demolish. The collapse of Yugoslavia began in 1980, and
it continued until the 27th of April 1992, which in history is known as the date when Yugoslavia
totally collapsed. In my opinion, the reason that the disintegration of Yugoslavia happened was
because of the decline in absolute sovereignty. In this paper, I am going to talk about the definition of
sovereignty, different perspectives about the disintegration of Yugoslavia from some authors and the
decline in absolute sovereignty which led to the disintegration of Yugoslavia.
So, what is sovereignty? It is the capability of a country to govern itself. Thus, citizens are the ones
who decide about creating government, institutions and choosing representatives of their state.
Yugoslavia constituted several republics, but none of them possessed the complete autonomy because

It is very difficult to point out a single major reason that affected the collapse of Yugoslavia because
there were so many, that s why different people have different opinions towards this issue as for what
reason might have had the most influence. Explanations for Yugoslavias disintegration start from
cultural reasons, continuing to religious and then oppressed rights between the different groups within
the nation and so on.
According to Alan Thornett, after the death of Tito, Slobodan Milosevic wanted to expand its Serbian
territory and make a greater Serbia, by gathering together all regions that are inhabited by Serbs. This
would mean that Serbia would have more power contrasting everyone else, and a little or no

The Bombing Of Oklahoma City
The period between 1995 and 2005 is very memorable in America s history. There are several
incidences and occurrences that unfolded which helped in shaping and framing the current United
States of America. The bombing of Oklahoma City is a major epic event that still lingers in the minds
of most Americans. However, there is much to contemplate and deduce based on the incidence of 19th
April 1995. The music industry also experienced drastic changes between this time frame and
analyzing these changes is pivotal in understanding the history of America and may assist in
predicting the changes to be expected within the next one decade. Evolution and advancement in
technology are also a crucial part of the discussion of American history and the emergence of the
digital era. It is, therefore, worth appreciating and acknowledging the past since it forms part of our
identity.
Timothy McVeigh was the main accuser in the case of Oklahoma City bombing. The bomb exploded
during the early morning hours of 19th April 19, 1995. Despite being an ex military officer, Timothy
was the main conspirator, and he used a rented truck to bomb the downtown side of the Oklahoma
City. The accused had parked the truck on the rear part of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building,
which is located in the downtown of Oklahoma City. According to the FBI, the powerful bomb
mounted on the truck was made of a mixture of diesel fuel, agricultural fertilizers and traces of other
chemicals ( Oklahoma City Bombing ).

My Student Choice Paper Will Be On Russian Culture
My student choice paper will be on Russian culture. This is a topic I chose because recently a person I
knew from Russia died due to a blood transfusion rejection. After this I did some research on the
Russian healthcare system I found that it lacks the funds, equipment and supplies that are needed to
deliver an acceptable level of care. Russian cultural beliefs such as folk medicine and the belief in a
strong nuclear family may interfere with the care a patient receives. Furthermore, government
corruption, international sanctions, and low oil prices are affecting the Russian economy. The Russian
culture is one that interests me, but I m doing this to see what can be done to help prevent more
deaths. Since 1992 the Russian population has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1237 Batu Khan launched an invasion into Kievan Rus . Over the next three years the Mongols
destroyed almost all of the major cities. For the next century or so it was pretty quiet. Around the 14th
century, the city of Moscow started growing in influence. To show the city s importance the
patriarchate of Russian Orthodox Church moved to the city. In 1598, Boris Godunov was made Tsar.
Following this, invading armies from Poland led by people claiming to be Dmitre failed to take
Moscow. In June of 1812, Napoleon began his Russian invasion. An army of half a million started the
march to Moscow. The Russians knew they couldn t take the army head on and decided to mount a
defensive campaign of strategic retreat, devastating the land as they fell back and harassing the flanks
of the French. By September the French army had been reduced by two thirds. When Napoleon s army
arrived in Moscow on September the 14, they found it depopulated and void of resources. That night
buildings in Moscow caught fire leaving the French troops without shelter. By the time the troops
returned, only ten thousand men survived. This war ensured Russia s status as a power in Europe after
Napoleon. In 1894 Nicholas II took the throne. He wasn t the smartest leader, and his ministers were
almost all reactionaries. In 1905 the Japanese attacked Russia. Russia suffered several defeats that

Against Legalizing Homosexual Marriages Essay
Against Legalizing Homosexual Marriages
The legalized marriage of individuals with the same gender is drawing more attention these days.
When asked, most people want to avoid the subject of homosexuality altogether or they have a very
strong opinion on it. The debate over whether the United States should allow homosexual couples to
marry legally is giving rise to a new social dilemma in our country. This question has courtrooms
nervous, churches wavering and equal rights activists angry. Courtrooms should be nervous though.
Our courts, which have mishandled abortion, may be on the verge of mishandling homosexual
marriages (Wilson 34). The judges of the Supreme Court of Hawaii might possibly legalize gay
marriages in the near ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Jet Magazine, in March of 1996, USA Today/CNN did a gallop telephone poll of 1,008
adults and came to some interesting conclusions.
The number of people who believe homosexuality is acceptable has gone up 10 percentage points
since 1982 . . . 44 percent of the people surveyed found homosexuality to be acceptable. But, while
leading an alternative lifestyle is more acceptable to many, the poll also showed that 68 percent of the
respondents think marriages between homosexuals shouldn t be recognized by law or have the same
benefits as traditional marriages (8).
These respondents were all adults, but what about children? How are they affected?
Children are our nation s most valuable assets. It is one thing to be born into a heterosexual family,
and then many years later find out that one of the parents is homosexual. It is considerably different to
be adopted as an infant and learn from the beginning years that drastic differences exist between most
other children and yourself. The long term effect on children in these circumstances is still a very new
area of research, so there is not much data available. However, we know that young children tease one
another unmercifully; adding this dimension does not seem to be a step in the right direction (Wilson
38).
Adoption of children by gay couples is an area where homosexuals believe they can make significant
strides in their struggle to legalize homosexual marriage. Gay rights activists

Positive Influence Of The Philippines
The philippines is a country located in Southeast Asia in the Western Pacific made up of 7,107 islands.
The entire landmass of the Philippines is made up islands, making it the second largest archipelago in
the world ( Huffington Post ). Manila the capital city of the Philippines is ranked as number one with
the highest population density in the world. With a growth rate of 2 percent every year it is also known
as one of the fastest growing countries. The philippines and the United States have had what is known
as a special relationship throughout the last few decades. In fact a research done by Research Center
Global Attitudes Project says that Filipinos have a 85% positive view of Americans and America. The
same Philippine respondents have also claimed that America has had a great deal of positive influence
in their country.
1. Krizel, a co worker/friend, was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the United States
when she turned 22 years old with her father. Krizel lived a very laborious and difficult life as a kid all
the way to her early teens, living in a two bedroom apartment for a family of six; it could become
crowded sometimes. The Philippines teaches you to work at an early age Krizel said, you would have
to go to the nearest lake every morning so that you may have water to bathe yourself that day, carrying
4 5 buckets of water to the house and back was very tiring. She would have to walk about 6 to 7 miles

Islamic Organizations Post World War II
As we get farther into the book, I become more intrigued into the events that took place in America in
regards to Islam. I never actually knew the broader history behind the enlargement of Islam in the
United States. The formation of different Islamic organizations post World War II was very interesting,
because it created a society where Muslim immigrants can unite; such as the Nation of Islam and the
FIA. I found that the sociological, and political aspects of these religion based communities and
organizations were very relevant to the issues that many Muslims had to deal with. However, some of
the organization s teachings and actions seemed questionable. Also, the book is very difficult to
understand as it gets very in depth with fact after fact but not much background information, which
makes it hard to follow the points that author, Kambiz GhaneaBassiri is trying to get across. That
being said, I would like to focus on the chapter 6 readings, and the author s style of writing. To begin
with, throughout the book, A History of Islam in America, the author has a specific style of writing
where he makes the book extremely dense to read. From chapter one to chapter six so far, there is a lot
of information that he gives us as readers with fact after fact, but not a lot of detail on the main points
that he is trying to make. This can make the reading that we have been doing highly confusing to
understand. As he begins to make a very significant point that had to do with

Sociological Imagination And How Events Affect A...
Sociological Imagination
The sociological imagination is an empathetic approach to understanding an individual by examining
their biography (this includes all life experiences and upbringing) as well as the historical events that
took place during their lifetime. (Basirico) It was developed by C. Right Mills. Sociological
imagination explores how events in history affect a generation s way of thinking. It also takes into
perspective the personal biography of an individual that exploits the interworking of an individual
mind and social status due to nature and nurture, culture, socio economic standing, geography and
other influences. It gives outsiders a better picture of why an individual act and thinks the way they do

There has also been a shift in marketing for these harmful products, most of which is funded by the
lobbyist for these unhealthy foods. There are pharmaceutical companies and food companies that fund
organizations such as the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association and even
the American cancer society, this is a complete conflict of interest. (What the Health) These
companies are advertising their products, for example Danon on the American Cancer Website, when
we know that Dairy has strong links to breast cancer! (What the Health) As a direct result our
population has become sick, and unhealthy and disease prone. There has been an exponential increase
in diabetes and heart related issues, as well as cancer. My generation in particular has been exposed to
this nonsense as children, in the school system. This is still happening today and it is a huge problem.
We might be the first generation to not outlive our parents. (What the Health) The historical play in
view of food and consumerism in my generation has played a big part in my historical sociological
imagination.
An example of how personal biography has shaped stems from my positive and supporting family, my
parents relationship in particular. My parents have a very healthy relationship and have been together
for 30 years. Having witness to a healthy happy relationship has taught me not to settle for someone
that is not going to make me happy and last forever. It has also shown

Paracetamol Solubility Research Paper
There are various factors relating to molecular structure that influence paracetamol solubility in
various co solvent systems. Dissolving a solute involves breaking intermolecular forces between
solvent molecules and forming intermolecular bonds between solvent and solute molecules. In part
this depends on the strength of solvent intermolecular forces, which is reflected in the solvent s
viscosity. Of the co solvents, glycerol has the greatest viscosity and hence the strongest intermolecular
forces. Syrup is quite viscous, followed by propylene glycol then ethanol. This would mean the
ethanol would best be able to solvate paracetamol and mix with water, then propylene glycol as shown
in Figure 1, then syrup and finally glycerol. However from the results obtained, glycerol is generally
slightly better than syrup as a solvent for paracetamol. This may be due to the cumulative effect of
multiple hydroxyl groups present on each of the co solvent molecules (see Appendix I). ... Show more

Each of the co solvents have hydroxyl groups that allow them to hydrogen bond with water,
accounting for their miscibility with water. To some extent the hydroxyl groups also allow the solvents
to hydrogen bond with the carbonyl and hydroxyl groups of paracetamol (Appendix I). Because of the
stable hydrophobic aromatic ring in paracetamol, it would better dissolve in more non polar solvents.
Thus ethanol, with only one polar hydroxyl group, is the most effective solvent. Propylene glycol has
two hydroxyl groups and glycerol has three, slightly reducing each solvent s ability to dissolve
paracetamol. Sucrose (syrup) has eight hydroxyl groups which may explain its minute effect on
improving paracetamol

Sgw Model Of Cultural Competence
Cultural competence is significant especially for group leaders since groups have so much diversity.
To provide competent supervision, supervisors must assist trainees in conceptualizing diversity issues,
becoming aware of personalizations related to diversity, and generating diversity competent
interventions at all levels of group work interaction (Okech Rubel, 2007, para. 4). Okech and Rubel
(2007) researched the integration of cultural competency into the supervision of group work model
(SGW). The SGW model focuses on the supervision cultivating the group leaders to be competent on
learning to meet the needs of individuals within a one on one relationship, as well as successfully
understanding and intervening in subsystems and the group as a whole

Marketing Strategy Of Coca Cola
The story of one of the biggest marketing blunders in history, is a story of false hubris, desperation,
and driving ambition. Made by one of the largest corporations in the world. The creators of a product
on the forefront of the American consciousness. As intertwined into American culture as baseball,
apple pie, and Thanksgiving dinner. That product of course was Coca Cola, the formula of which had
remained unchanged close to 100 years. Since its creation by Atlanta pharmacist John Pemberton in
1885 as a topical remedy marketed as a cure from ailments such as stomach pains, headaches, and
even impotence, Coca Cola had grown into the number one drink in America.
In 1888 Coca Cola was sold to Asa Candler whose innovative and aggressive marketing tactics would
kick start Coca Cola on its path of global domination. From the start rival Pepsi Cola established itself
as a formidable number two in the soft drink market. Founded in 1893 Pepsi would continue to play
second fiddle to Coke for over sixty years. Coca Colas marketing strategy was simple yet genius.
Make Cokes presence known everywhere in America. Ensure that advertisements are placed in every
city and every town, and guarantee that no matter where you go, a cold and refreshing Coke beverage
was available within arm s reach. By doing this the Coca Cola Corporation made their product a part
of the American identity.
With the advent of World War 2, company executives saw their chance to introduce Coke to the world.

Evaluation Of A Research On Formative Feedback
3. Reviews/Commentaries
Shute,V. (2008). Focus on formative feedback. Review of Educational Research, 78(1), 153 189.
Shute conducts an extensive literature review of the research on formative feedback because despite
extensive investigation, the author proposes, is still misunderstood due to conflicting findings and
inconsistent pattern results. The focus of this review is that feedback must be delivered correctly to be
effective. Therefore, Shute offers a twofold proposal: to understand the features, functions, and
interactions of feedback in relation to learning and to use the findings to create guidelines for
generating effective formative feedback.
The focus of this study is primarily on performing tasks and the identified issues are several. Correct
delivery of feedback is defined and guidelines are proposed since most research on this subject
concludes that feedback can enhance learning considerably if delivered correctly. The interaction of
task and student characteristics is investigated to address the major gaps in understanding that still
exist, inclusively, instructional context in the efficiency of feedback.
The author defines formative feedback (FF) as information intended to change a student s thinking or
behavior to improve learning. It ought to be specific, helpful, timely, and not judgmental. Types of FF
are: confirmation of a correct answer, clarification of the accurate response, clues, and work examples.

Personalized Learning Is Bad For Students
Why Personalized Learning Is Bad For Students
The debate of personalized learning has risen up in school districts all across the United States.
Hearing about the personalization of learning, which is a structured curriculum solely based on the
students needs. Teachers soon turn into tutors, helping each individual student with their own struggles
and questions. Since each student has their own schedule, classrooms aren t conducted in the same
manner students are glued to their own computers in the classroom. This means no projects, no field
trips and no learning methods to grasp the students attention and get them on bored with learning.
With that said, not one learning method is guaranteed to suit all students. Supposedly, personalized ...

student can pass a focus area (10 multiple choice questions) doesn t mean that they have mastered the

they needed to know for state testing. Later on in the interview, when asked to see if personalized
learning was the best choice for students, the teacher said that even with the material specifically

What Is The Theme Of The Lay Of The Werewolf
In the story, The Lay of the Werewolf , a faithful husband gets dishonored by his wife after the wife
finds out that the husband is half werewolf. The story takes place in Ancient Greek, during the
Medieval Times, where the Greeks wrote that people could be transformed into werewolves. As
Murray states, it states that the poem demonstrates the kinds of friendship and love that exist among
the three protagonists. It mentions that the poem depicts how de France confronts her readers with a
story that raises a moral issue. It adds that many of de France s poems critique the unchristian and
uncharitable marriages. The story really gives off a good example, on how the people who one think s
can trust with one s life, especially in this case, can turn on one for the money, fame, power, etc. The
three themes that are shown in The Lay of the Werewolf are betrayal, dishonor, ... Show more content

Analyzing Searle s Chinese Room Argument
Searle s Chinese Room Searle s Chinese Room argument tackles the question if computers can really
understand or think for themselves, and if this understanding can be expressed through related terms.
It is imperative to comment that this argument challenges the idea of strong AI instead of weak AI.
Strong AI is the view that programmed computers can understand natural language along with other
mental skills similar to humans. An example of strong AI is a computer that can play a board game
intelligently or fathom a language. Weak AI is the understanding that computers are only useful in
things like psychology or grammar. The great difference is that weak AI makes no claim that
computers actually understand or are intellectual. The Chinese ... Show more content on

Searle states in his writing, The point of the argument is this: if the man in the room does not
understand Chinese on the basis of implementing the appropriate program for understanding Chinese
then neither does any other digital computer solely on that basis because no computer, qua computer,
has anything the man does not have. It is important to understand that this computation is just rule
based symbol manipulation, and that the manipulation and matching is done purely on the basis of the
shape of the symbols, not on their meaning. This is central for the discussion of intelligent AI because
it claims that artificial intelligence will never be able to understand and think for its own. It will
always rely on a human controller to give it the inputs that it needs to have a matching output. Searle
points out that in executing the program not even he would understand the messages. He would only
manipulate symbols, on the basis of their shapes, according to the rules in the manual. Therefore,
because of the hardware independence of computation, if Searle would not be understanding Chinese
under those conditions, neither would any other piece of hardware executing that Chinese Turing Test
passing program. This argument directly argues against the theory that cognition is just computation
that both humans and AI can achieve. Another way to state this argument in a more simplified manner
is that programs are entirely syntactical and because minds have a semantics, programs are not minds
because syntax isn t the same as

Time and the Influence of Society Can Thwart the Path of...
It is a universal truth that the human being needs companionship in some form or stage in their
existence.
For many this companionship is seen to be true love or one s perception of what true love is.
Time often plays a vital role in the success of relationships.
Using Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Shakespeare s sonnets and John Green s The Fault in Our
Stars, I am going to show how the concept of time and the influence of society can sometimes thwart
the path of true romance.
In Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice during Darcy s declaration of love to Elizabeth his sense of
her inferiority of it s being degradation of the family obstacles...were dwelt on However he continues
to the talk about Strength of that attachment which in spite all of his endeavours he found it
impossible to conquer . Austen shows that despite the many objections Mr Darcy has to loving
Elizabeth such as her inferior social status which he tries many endeavours to conquer his love for her
in the end he has given into the fact that he loves her and is willing to become oblivious to his own
objections. Here Austen is making a valid point that love comes across more powerful than any other
feeling. Whether that feeling is pride, fear or judgement. It is most evident when Darcy announces in
vain I have struggled. It will not do, my feelings will not be repressed, you must allow me to tell you
how ardently I admire and love you This is in comparison to sonnet 130 when the

1.2 Structural Problems that Stop the Growth of EIIC
After analysing the big picture of insurance circumstance, this chapter will discuss the main problems
of EIIC in terms of structural operation and strategic operation in other to find the most critical fault
and some assumed solutions to fix it.
The increasing employee turnover is a very apparent sigh of company dysfunction at EIIC s
organisational structure. According to the case files, there were a lot of complex conflicts between
managers and employees, branch offices and headquarter, technical personnel and administrative
personnel. The most remarkable conflict came from branch managers and the chief inspectors, which
had been finely noticed by EIIC s top officers. So the high employee turnover rate is caused by the
current ineffective organisational structure of EIIC. Both of chief inspector and the bank manager
have the right to make the final decision of whether to insure certain risks or not. What s more, it is
impossible for bank managers to monitor their inspection workers. In conclusion, the disorganization
of the management layer caused more and more conflicts among the staffs and consequently beat
down the employee morals.

Louis Armstrong s Life, His Music And Influence On Others
The person I chose to do my project on is Louis Armstrong. I chose Louis Armstrong because I
wanted to do my project on a singer as well as a musician. I chose him because he was one of the few
people that I knew about, also because I did some research on him and listened to his music and I
thought that he was interesting to write about. My main three things that I m going to discuss about
Louis Armstrong will be his life, his music and influence on others. I m going to describe how and
where Louis Armstrong s grew up and how he started out his career as a trumpeter. I m also going to
write about how he went through life and how that affected him in the future. Lastly, I m going to
discuss with you how he had an influence on others. I m going to explain how he impacted the world
with his music and how that affected so many people to this day. Louis Armstrong made a great
impact in the world and I m going to teach you all about it.
According to biography.com, Louis Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans,
Louisiana. He was born into a poor section of New Orleans, which was nicknamed The Battlefield.
Louis Armstrong had a tough childhood when he was growing up, his father was a factory worker that
had left Louis Armstrong s family after he was soon to be born. Louis Armstrong s mom was a
prostitute and she often left him at his maternal grandmother s house. Armstrong had to quit school in

Robots Disadvantages
By the year 2050 robots will transform our lives, by being like another family member in the house
and a co worker at work. As well as helping people walk and move. They are learning to perform
surgeries, and delivering food to our bedrooms, which is increasing their efficiency and practicality,
making our lives easier. I know when many people hear the word robots they think of them as bad
because there as been many movies where they are depicted as bad but in fact robots can help us in
many tasks. Robots are being used a lot in our century which will have a positive impact on the human
race. CNN news says that robots have become the norm in numerous industries. They are right there
as many industries that are using robots today. One of the major ways robots can have a positive
impact on the human race is that Robots can save companies time and money by being able to produce
a greater magnitude of products a.nd reduce haggard amount of wasted materials. Also are they are
faster, quicker and more importantly, very accurate. Which will prevent worker injures. One of the
most important places where robots are being introduced are in hospitals. This will really shape the
future of hospitals. They be able to help doctors in the operating room because they have greater
visualization, Enhanced dexterity, and Greater precision. Which studied to traditional surgery with
incisions, robots can make smaller incisions proceed in less pain and scarring. Robotic surgery allows

The Last Supper By Leonardo Da Vinci Essay
Bad Company
When Leonardo da Vinci painted his famous work, The Last Supper , he prepared himself by making
a thorough study of the lives of each of the twelve Apostles as well as the Lord. Then he set out to find
real faces to paint as the faces of the thirteen men represented in the painting.
As the story goes, he thought finding a face to paint as the face of the Lord would be the most
difficult. His goal was to find a man in whose face; he could see love, compassion and kindness. He
wanted to see the glow of purity in his countenance and a gleam akin to divinity in his eyes.
Da Vinci searched for a number of months before he found a man whose countenance portrayed the
characteristics that he needed to paint the face of Jesus Christ. The man gave his permission and his
face was painted as the face of the Lord.
During the following three years, Leonardo da Vinci found other men, whose faces he painted as the
faces of Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Thaddaeus and
Simon.
Then he began searching for a face to paint as the face of Judas. He would need to find a man in
whose face he could see dissipation and despair. There would be no gleam in his eyes. Finally, he
learned about a fellow who was being held down at the jail for thievery and drunkenness. The artist
went to the jail and as soon as he saw the man, he knew the face that he had been looking was found.
He had discovered the face, he would paint as that of Judas; the

Biology Lab Report
Investigating Alcoholic Fermentation and the Affects of Yeast on Dough
Aim: The aim was simply to investigate whether or not yeast had any affect on causing dough to rise
when baked and to experiment with alcoholic fermentation eg. to see if it gave off carbon dioxide.
Introduction: Following a few weeks of fermentation theory, groups of three to four were assigned and
told to conduct a series of experiments involving the affects of fermentation. My group consisted of
myself, Won Jin, Brendan and Sun Ho and we chose to investigate alcoholic fermentation and the
affects of yeast on dough, more specifically to see if yeast caused the dough to rise in anyway. We
followed the instructions in our biology textbook on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the Test Tube, we hoped that the Carbon Dioxide given off would travel through the tube and
turn the Lime Water (used as an indicator) into a milky colour. Without much surprise it did and we
could conclude that the Yeast did give off Carbon Dioxide, much like our previous experiment
(Carbon Dioxide given off by the Yeast causing the Dough to rise).
Conclusion: From our results I can safely assume that my Hypothesis was correct for both
experiments and I can now, for sure, say that Yeast does cause Dough to rise. Other than stating that
obvious fact, not much can be said for the first experiment other than we proved Yeast is extremely
important for making the Dough rise. Without the Yeast giving off Carbon Dioxide, the Dough wouldn
t rise. It would also be good to note that the Dough s sticky material traps the Carbon Dioxide, causing
the mound to rise.
For our Alcoholic Fermentation experiment, once again, my Hypothesis was right on the mark. The
Fermentation caused by the Yeast created heat, warming up the tube. Also it turns the sugar into
Alcohol and simply smelling the Test Tube, after the experiment, can also prove this as Alcohol has a
very distinctive smell, easily recognised. My third observation of this experiment showed that Carbon
Dioxide was given off, turning the Lime Water milky.
I cannot say I

*Sweatshorts: The Fabric of my Independence*
Are you homeless?
Not a question you d typically receive on the way to history class; but there I was, being questioned by

... no, why?
Well, you look like a bum.
While perhaps a bit blunt, she wasn t wrong. That morning I was wearing an old Braves hoodie,

In school, kids are often known by a few defining traits. Maybe they re the gorgeous cheerleader, or

I was the guy who dressed like a hobo.
My signature pieces of clothing are my three pairs of sweatshorts. Man do I love those things. If you

You shouldn t live your life completely independent from what others think. Many times, peers can

In A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens frequently displays the recurrent theme of recalling one s

The Theory And Post Modernism Theory
CASE STUDY
Theories in social work play an important role in solving problems among families from different
background. Problems can be evolving from an individual ,or families or may constitute their
concerned societies or communities. In my report I have selected three theories each from the
recommended ones Individual theory, Structural theory and Post Modernism theory., that is cognitive
behavioural therapy, empowerment and narrative therapy respectively. As theory helps us understand
and contest ideas ,also offers a practice framework , I would like to impart these theories on practice.
(payne 2005) I have got a case to apply these principles of each theories. a client named Bob Cruise
had approached me with his family problems..On his first arrival itself he seemed to be
tensed..gradually he shared his problems with me in hope that i could cure him. Bob is from a low
socio economic suburb lived in a rental property ,his wife is disabled one and has getting disability
pension, he has no permanent job to serve his family ,also he has three kids(two adolescent boys and
one little girl). He has worry upon the children s malbehaviourism too..His both adolescent children are
disrespectful, to them and giving abusive words. Hence he is anxious about his future and told me his
money will be taken from them if they get well..In my perspective , I like to solve this problem by
using psychodynamic theory that is cognitive behavioural therapy..I

The Investigation Of The Fbi
The FBI began in 1908, as a small offshoot of the Justice Department. Due to increased complexities
that The Justice Department could no longer handle, President Roosevelt, through much controversy,
commissioned the bureau to aid in the work of The Justice Department. The creation of the bureau did
not come about easily, but with the support of Attorney General Charles Bonaparte, Roosevelt
bypassed Congress to establish the force, which later became known officially as the Federal Bureau
of Investigation. In its early days, the FBI s responsibilities differed greatly from the role it plays
today. Because there were few federal crimes, agents investigated violations of law involving national
banking, bankruptcy, naturalization, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hoover, [given] the title of Special Assistant to the Attorney General, devised plans to arrest thousands
of foreign born Communists and turn them over to immigration officials to face non criminal
deportation proceedings. These plans were heavily debated in terms of their total disregard for basic
human rights, and further contributed to corruption of President Harding s administration; this also
resulted in a negative perception of the FBI. Ironically, to fix the FBI s image, Attorney General Stone
named 29 year old J. Edgar Hoover Acting Director of the Bureau of Investigation. Hoover s actions
in the years to come mirrored those of his beginning days in office. Everything he did help shape the
FBI as a powerful component of the government, but his actions were often self centered, and did not
completely benefit the country as a whole. Despite this, the FBI would not have become such an
important agency if it hadn t be for Hoover s work. Through Hoover s strong leadership, though
corrupt and sometimes inhumane, he shaped the FBI into a powerful federal agency, achieving these
changes through his use of investigative techniques, strict standards, and strategic political
relationships; whether positive or negative, most perceptions many have about the FBI can be
attributed to Hoover.
Hoover took his leadership position seriously, relentlessly working to improve the

The Earth below the clouds was in its daily nighttime. The spirit wolf pack always continued sleep,

Judaism And Christianity During The Roman Empire Summary
Judaism and Christianity During The Roman Empire
By: Deonna Weil Vance
History 111 World Civilization before 1650
Professor Joseph Esposito
August 20, 2014
In order to decorously portray the evolution of Judaism and Christianity the reader needs to know how
Israel was conquered by the Roman Empire. The reader also needs to know how Christianity
developed from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Even though Christianity developed out of the
Jewish religion both religions have their differences. Both religions also faced bigotry, discrimination,
and hostility due to the Roman Empire. Christian and Judaic history is different in many ways. The
development, persecution, and characteristics of each religion are significant.
When the Jewish people left Egypt and settled in Israel they established the twelve tribes of Israel.
These twelve tribes were originally ruled by a series of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The difference between the Jews and the Jewish Christians was that the Jewish Christians believed
Jesus was their savior. The second stage brought on changes to their belief system and biblical texts.
After branching out and away from Judaism, Christianity created the New Testament. This is very
different compared to what Judaism follows in the Old Testament. Christians veritably created their
own version of the Old Testament that utilizes their own theologies and ethical ideas. Christians
believe that only some parts of the Old Testament applied to them but some wanted to follow the
original ways from the Old Testament. This created different types of Christianity such as Roman
Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, etcetera. Christians believed Jesus was their savior, which separated
them from Judaism. Judaism does not recognize that their Messiah has come, and would not recognize
Jesus as G ds Son. (Murray

What Does A Prayer For Owen Meany
Undoubtedly one of the most popular stories of the 21st century was Harry Potter, a series in which
readers follow the life of a twelve year old boy who learns that he is magical. Throughout the novels
aspects of magic are blended into the real world, portrayed by the setting Great Britain, which
contains a large proportion of non magical people, referred to as muggles. The way the author, J.K
Rowling, set the book up and blended these two aspects, magic and realism, is analogous to the way
John Irving wrote a Prayer for Owen Meany through the genre of magical realism. Furthermore, the
use of this genre allowed for the development of John Irving s main message. By setting the story in
the realistic town of Gravesend, New Hampshire, and incorporating the exceptional religious character
of Owen Meany, the author sets the scene to impart his thoughts upon readers. John Irving s main
message in a Prayer for Owen Meany is that not all people view the world using science and logical
reason. A realistic element of the story is that John and Owen were raised in the small town of
Gravesend, New Hampshire. To a reader who doesn t know that this town is in fact factitious, the
town might seem very realistic. Seeing as the town is comprised similarly to many towns during the
time period that Owen was set in, it would not be improbable that an unknowing reader might be lead
to believe that the setting of this story is a real town. In fact the town even has multiple churches such

Pros And Cons Of Tasers
In this current period of time, police men and women have an even bigger target on their backs
compared to times of the past. In the past year, we as students have had a very unique opportunity as
criminal justice majors to see some interesting events unfold, such as the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, a
number of allegedly wrongful deaths done by the police s hands, to the riots in Baltimore. With all of
this happening, I feel that the use of technology and militarization is beneficial to the men and women
across America who serve as police officers. Along with this, not only is it more beneficial to police,
but it could be more beneficial to civilians as well. For Example, one of the new advances that police
use that are beneficial are tasers. Tasers are less lethal compared to firearms, but are effective enough
to subdue a suspect. Of course there are critics of taser use, but more concrete studies show increased

Protection of the people is one of the police s most important jobs, and if that means we adopt a more
militaristic style of policing compared to a more community based policing style, then so be it. For
example, a study was done on the Long Beach Police and found the department became more focused
on tactical concerns such as patrol and counter terrorism while abandoning policing activities such as
foot patrol. (Lee, 2010). Now, I am not an expert on the crime patterns in Long Beach, however, I
believe it would be safe to say the crime levels have dropped due to the militarization, as would be

The Point Of Euthyphro
What is the point of the Euthyphro?
Euthyphro [ca. 399 395 BCE], by Plato, is a written dialogue about the events which occurred before
the trial of Socrates , where Socrates was charged with two crimes impiety against the pantheon of
Athens and corruption of the youth. Socrates was accused of failing to acknowledge the gods that the
city acknowledges and introducing new deities . The consequence for such a crime was death.
Euthyphro was in the court to present manslaughter charges against his father to the court. Socrates
begins his debate with Euthyphro by asking Euthyphro does he have a clear understanding of what is
pious and impious. He asks this because he is face with the crime of impiety; Socrates hopes to learn
from Euthyphro so he has a better understanding of his charge and can better defend himself in trial.

Sylvia Plath Poem Comparison Essay
Sylvia Plath Poem Comparison Essay
Saying Sylvia Plath was a troubled woman would be an understatement. She was a dark poet, who
attempted suicide many times, was hospitalized in a mental institution, was divorced with two
children, and wrote confessional poems about fetuses, reflection, duality, and a female perspective on
life. Putting her head in an oven and suffocating was probably the happiest moment in her life,
considering she had wanted to die since her early twenties. However, one thing that was somewhat
consistent throughout her depressing poetry would be the theme of the female perspective. The poems
selected for analysis and comparison are, A Life (1960), You re (1960), Mirror (1961), The Courage of
Shutting Up (1962) and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last few lines seem to attribute her depression to her age, and maybe the fact that she never got to
enjoy her childhood, her young years, and she despises seeing herself grow old in the reflection of the
lake.
The Courage of Shutting Up was written in 1962, a year before Sylvia s end, and uses the ideas of
repetition, speech, and censorship to express her ideas on female obedience and civil censorship. The
female perspective here is the idea of not being able to speak out, and living in repetition, with a
defeated tongue hung up on the wall like a trophy. The poem uses many different types of diction, but
most of it is masculine, and war like, as if Plath was fighting a war against men. The first stanza of the
poem begins with The courage of the shut mouth, in spite of artillery! and follows with bits of diction
to describe a record player, with black disks... of courage... as to describe Plath s thoughts and feelings
just playing over and over again, asking to be heard. The second stanza continues with the record
player metaphor, a needle in its groove , and transitions to an overqualified tattooist in the third stanza,
once a surgeon (maybe a metaphor for Sylvia s downgrade from a great poet to a dumpy mother) who
repeats the same overused tattoos over and over, silently, and solemnly. The fourth stanza returns to
the metaphor of war, and artillery as well as the record player. The tongue is introduced, and is
described as indefatigable,

Reckless Driving In Virginia
Fifteen Ways to Get a Reckless Driving Ticket in Virginia
Virginia takes reckless driving seriously. Drivers convicted are guilty of committing a class 1 criminal
charge, the same criminal classification as a DUI/DWI conviction. Criminal charges can stay on your
record for years, and can have a huge impact on your lifestyle. Professionals who need security
clearances for their occupation may lose those authorizations. Military or government contractors,
who deal with sensitive matters, may not be able to get required sanctions. Insurance costs
significantly raise. Unfortunately, many driving behaviors that are considered traffic violations in
other states, are categorized as reckless driving in Virginia. Following are fifteen ways to get charged

Virginia deems it a crime to drive over 80 miles per hour (mph), or 20 mph over the speed limit. A
simple speeding ticket may be taken care of by paying a fine after you return home. Because reckless
driving tickets are criminal, they are much more problematic. You can receive a Reckless Diving
Speeding ticket even when you are not otherwise driving recklessly, such as weaving, or changing
lanes. If the speeding criteria is met, the charge is reckless driving.
The second most commonly given reckless driving ticket is Virginia Code § 46.2‐852 involving any
behavior of a driver that puts life, limb, or property in danger. General reckless driving citations may
be given to distracted drivers, those that tailgate, speeding violators, or those drivers expressing road
rage. In Virginia, these actions are considered criminal. Obviously, the general reckless driving ticket
will apply to a variety of situations, and is a catch all terms. Officers regularly assign this code in the

The Civil War And American History
In American History many significant events took place that reflected religious faith of multiple
Americans and has shaped the world we live in today. Throughout the 1800s, the most memorable
times in America took place throughout the Civil War. Events that escalated before, during and even
following the Civil War resulted in a chain of reactions from many people within that period. After
analyzing the events of the Civil War, I was able to draw a connection to the actions of the soldiers,
women and Black Americans and how they were consistent with Christian faith. Prior to emphasizing
how Americans were consistent with Christian faith, first it is vital to know a little background
information on that particular period. The Civil War was seen as a traumatic period. According to the
text, the Civil War was the bloodiest in American History that ended with 618,000 killed. There are
various arguments between the true causes of the war. Despite the arguments that claim slavery was
not the cause, slavery did however play a major factor in each argument presented. Therefore, Slavery
can be considered the major cause of war, and an issue that grew over the years. According to Degler,
slavery was clearly important as a moral issue, but also as an economic institution that divided two
different, and in many ways antagonistic, societies (Degler, 2011). The division of two societies, North
and South, is what lead the war itself. The Civil War consisted of battles between the

Paul Laurence Dunbar Poem Analysis
Paul Laurence Dunbar is African American poet who lived from in the late 1880s to the early 1900s.
During his life, Dunbar wrote many poems, in both dialect and standard english. However, many of
his poems are considered controversial now, due to negative racial stereotypes and dialect. Currently,
some believe that Dunbar s poetry perpetuates harmful stereotypes such as use of dialect; while others
believe that it helps break racial stereotypes through the portrayed emotions. Dunbar s dialect poetry is
helpful for African Americans, because it accurately depicts the experience of African Americans and
humanizes them. The depiction black struggles within Dunbar s dialect poetry makes Dunbar s poetry
beneficial for the black race. For example, in An Ante bellum Sermon, when Dunbar writes But when

Huh uh! Chillun, let us pray! , he is depicting a common feeling of African Americans. Although this
poem takes place before the Civil War, and before Dunbar s birth, both of Dunbar s parents were ex
slaves, which gave him an understanding of slavery. With an understanding of slavery, Dunbar was
able to depict the desire for slaves to be rid of the unjust system. Beyond that, the idea is still
applicable to the time in which he lived. From one issue to another, people anticipate equality while in
dire situations. Similarly, in Song, Dunbar depicts the harmful race relations from his time. Instead of
the black experience being told from a sympathizer perspective, Dunbar has a better understanding of
what it was like to be black in the 1890s. The competition and hate between flowers symbolizes the
conflict between white and black people. Through this metaphor, especially at the end when they
celebrate the death of all daisies when he writes In de fiel de flags is wavin in a tantalizing way, Kin o
joicin case de daisies all is daid, Dunbar depicts the hateful race relations of his time. Dunbar s
representation of black issues brings attention to them, which benefits African Americans. Because

The Issue of Transnational Aid Intervention
The issue of transnational aid intervention has become a worldwide topic for debate regarding its role
in ethics and legitimacy in international relations. Historically, international aid had been provided by
developed worlds governments. However, aid provided by the developed world became problematic
because of international treaties, violation of state sovereignty, and the spread of capitalist enterprises
(Willetts). In addition to, many of the developing world leaders, consider the concept of aid
intervention to be potentially threatening and an excuse for more powerful nations to undermine and
threaten their state sovereignty through a change in the nations economic and social discourses
(Willetts). In an attempt to counterbalance this predicament, institutions known as Non Governmental
Organizations (NGOs) were formed to emphasize humanitarian issues, developmental aid and
sustainable development (Willetts). An NGO is defined as a citizen based association that operates
independently of government, usually to deliver resources or serve some social or political purpose
(Willetts 1). Currently, NGOs play a crucial role in providing mechanisms which enhance global
human progress. To understand the work of NGOs one must know the history of humanitarian aid and
developmental assistance. History of Humanitarian Aid and Developmental Assistance Humanitarian
aid is defined as physical resources and or logistical assistance intended to save lives, alleviate
suffering, and

Healthcare Quality Analysis
Measuring the quality that a healthcare facility gives is of most importance for the individuals that are
serviced. Analytically healthcare facilities deal with many adverse limitations when it comes to
meeting or exceeding the needs of its constituents. In the process of healthcare there are
approximately four different methods that are used to assess the quality of a healthcare organization
and they are structure, process, outcome and patient experience. Each one serves a different purpose
within the structure of a healthcare organization below I will give a brief overview of each one, but the
two main ones that this article will focus on will be structure and process.
Purpose of Quality Measurements There is a needed purpose for measuring the quality of services
within the structure of healthcare, because it gives an overview of how the healthcare organization can
improve on its quality of care. The author defines quality measurement in healthcare as the process of
using data to evaluate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These methods are:
Structure (characterizes statues of care which include but is not subject to its facilities, personnel and
policies which relate to how care is delivered).
Example:

Process (determines if the services performed are in line with routine clinical procedures).
Example:
Number of patients who receive preventative services (mammograms/immunizations).
Outcome (is a patient s health in accordance with the services received).
Example:
Survival rate of patients who acquire complications from surgical procedures performed in the
hospital
Patient Experience (feedback on the type of experience the patient received when visiting the facility

  • 2. Essay About The Disintegration Of Yugoslavia Yugoslavia was a very successful country under the lead of Josip Broz Tito. Yugoslavia was made of 6 Republics and those were: Croatia, Montenegro ,Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo together with Vojvodina which at that time were recognized as provinces. After the death of Tito Yugoslavia began to demolish. The collapse of Yugoslavia began in 1980, and it continued until the 27th of April 1992, which in history is known as the date when Yugoslavia totally collapsed. In my opinion, the reason that the disintegration of Yugoslavia happened was because of the decline in absolute sovereignty. In this paper, I am going to talk about the definition of sovereignty, different perspectives about the disintegration of Yugoslavia from some authors and the decline in absolute sovereignty which led to the disintegration of Yugoslavia. So, what is sovereignty? It is the capability of a country to govern itself. Thus, citizens are the ones who decide about creating government, institutions and choosing representatives of their state. Yugoslavia constituted several republics, but none of them possessed the complete autonomy because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is very difficult to point out a single major reason that affected the collapse of Yugoslavia because there were so many, that s why different people have different opinions towards this issue as for what reason might have had the most influence. Explanations for Yugoslavias disintegration start from cultural reasons, continuing to religious and then oppressed rights between the different groups within the nation and so on. According to Alan Thornett, after the death of Tito, Slobodan Milosevic wanted to expand its Serbian territory and make a greater Serbia, by gathering together all regions that are inhabited by Serbs. This would mean that Serbia would have more power contrasting everyone else, and a little or no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Bombing Of Oklahoma City The period between 1995 and 2005 is very memorable in America s history. There are several incidences and occurrences that unfolded which helped in shaping and framing the current United States of America. The bombing of Oklahoma City is a major epic event that still lingers in the minds of most Americans. However, there is much to contemplate and deduce based on the incidence of 19th April 1995. The music industry also experienced drastic changes between this time frame and analyzing these changes is pivotal in understanding the history of America and may assist in predicting the changes to be expected within the next one decade. Evolution and advancement in technology are also a crucial part of the discussion of American history and the emergence of the digital era. It is, therefore, worth appreciating and acknowledging the past since it forms part of our identity. Timothy McVeigh was the main accuser in the case of Oklahoma City bombing. The bomb exploded during the early morning hours of 19th April 19, 1995. Despite being an ex military officer, Timothy was the main conspirator, and he used a rented truck to bomb the downtown side of the Oklahoma City. The accused had parked the truck on the rear part of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which is located in the downtown of Oklahoma City. According to the FBI, the powerful bomb mounted on the truck was made of a mixture of diesel fuel, agricultural fertilizers and traces of other chemicals ( Oklahoma City Bombing ). ... • 4. My Student Choice Paper Will Be On Russian Culture My student choice paper will be on Russian culture. This is a topic I chose because recently a person I knew from Russia died due to a blood transfusion rejection. After this I did some research on the Russian healthcare system I found that it lacks the funds, equipment and supplies that are needed to deliver an acceptable level of care. Russian cultural beliefs such as folk medicine and the belief in a strong nuclear family may interfere with the care a patient receives. Furthermore, government corruption, international sanctions, and low oil prices are affecting the Russian economy. The Russian culture is one that interests me, but I m doing this to see what can be done to help prevent more deaths. Since 1992 the Russian population has ... For the next century or so it was pretty quiet. Around the 14th century, the city of Moscow started growing in influence. To show the city s importance the patriarchate of Russian Orthodox Church moved to the city. In 1598, Boris Godunov was made Tsar. Following this, invading armies from Poland led by people claiming to be Dmitre failed to take Moscow. In June of 1812, Napoleon began his Russian invasion. An army of half a million started the march to Moscow. The Russians knew they couldn t take the army head on and decided to mount a defensive campaign of strategic retreat, devastating the land as they fell back and harassing the flanks of the French. By September the French army had been reduced by two thirds. When Napoleon s army arrived in Moscow on September the 14, they found it depopulated and void of resources. That night buildings in Moscow caught fire leaving the French troops without shelter. By the time the troops returned, only ten thousand men survived. • 5. Against Legalizing Homosexual Marriages Essay Against Legalizing Homosexual Marriages The legalized marriage of individuals with the same gender is drawing more attention these days. When asked, most people want to avoid the subject of homosexuality altogether or they have a very strong opinion on it. The debate over whether the United States should allow homosexual couples to marry legally is giving rise to a new social dilemma in our country. This question has courtrooms nervous, churches wavering and equal rights activists angry. Courtrooms should be nervous though. Our courts, which have mishandled abortion, may be on the verge of mishandling homosexual marriages (Wilson 34). The judges of the Supreme Court of Hawaii might possibly legalize gay marriages in the near ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Jet Magazine, in March of 1996, USA Today/CNN did a gallop telephone poll of 1,008 adults and came to some interesting conclusions. The number of people who believe homosexuality is acceptable has gone up 10 percentage points since 1982 . . . 44 percent of the people surveyed found homosexuality to be acceptable. But, while leading an alternative lifestyle is more acceptable to many, the poll also showed that 68 percent of the respondents think marriages between homosexuals shouldn t be recognized by law or have the same benefits as traditional marriages (8). These respondents were all adults, but what about children? How are they affected? Children are our nation s most valuable assets. It is one thing to be born into a heterosexual family, and then many years later find out that one of the parents is homosexual. It is considerably different to be adopted as an infant and learn from the beginning years that drastic differences exist between most other children and yourself. The long term effect on children in these circumstances is still a very new area of research, so there is not much data available. However, we know that young children tease one another unmercifully; adding this dimension does not seem to be a step in the right direction (Wilson 38). Adoption of children by gay couples is an area where homosexuals believe they can make significant strides in their struggle to legalize homosexual marriage. Gay rights activists ... The entire landmass of the Philippines is made up islands, making it the second largest archipelago in the world ( Huffington Post ). Manila the capital city of the Philippines is ranked as number one with the highest population density in the world. With a growth rate of 2 percent every year it is also known as one of the fastest growing countries. The philippines and the United States have had what is known as a special relationship throughout the last few decades. In fact a research done by Research Center Global Attitudes Project says that Filipinos have a 85% positive view of Americans and America. The same Philippine respondents have also claimed that America has had a great deal of positive influence in their country. 1. • 7. Islamic Organizations Post World War II As we get farther into the book, I become more intrigued into the events that took place in America in regards to Islam. I never actually knew the broader history behind the enlargement of Islam in the United States. The formation of different Islamic organizations post World War II was very interesting, because it created a society where Muslim immigrants can unite; such as the Nation of Islam and the FIA. I found that the sociological, and political aspects of these religion based communities and organizations were very relevant to the issues that many Muslims had to deal with. However, some of the organization s teachings and actions seemed questionable. Also, the book is very difficult to understand as it gets very in depth with fact after fact but not much background information, which makes it hard to follow the points that author, Kambiz GhaneaBassiri is trying to get across. That being said, I would like to focus on the chapter 6 readings, and the author s style of writing. To begin with, throughout the book, A History of Islam in America, the author has a specific style of writing where he makes the book extremely dense to read. From chapter one to chapter six so far, there is a lot of information that he gives us as readers with fact after fact, but not a lot of detail on the main points that he is trying to make. This can make the reading that we have been doing highly confusing to understand. As he begins to make a very significant point that had to do with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sociological Imagination The sociological imagination is an empathetic approach to understanding an individual by examining their biography (this includes all life experiences and upbringing) as well as the historical events that took place during their lifetime. (Basirico) It was developed by C. Right Mills. Sociological imagination explores how events in history affect a generation s way of thinking. It also takes into perspective the personal biography of an individual that exploits the interworking of an individual mind and social status due to nature and nurture, culture, socio economic standing, geography and other influences. We might be the first generation to not outlive our parents. An example of how personal biography has shaped stems from my positive and supporting family, my parents relationship in particular. • 9. Paracetamol Solubility Research Paper There are various factors relating to molecular structure that influence paracetamol solubility in various co solvent systems. Dissolving a solute involves breaking intermolecular forces between solvent molecules and forming intermolecular bonds between solvent and solute molecules. In part this depends on the strength of solvent intermolecular forces, which is reflected in the solvent s viscosity. Of the co solvents, glycerol has the greatest viscosity and hence the strongest intermolecular forces. Syrup is quite viscous, followed by propylene glycol then ethanol. This would mean the ethanol would best be able to solvate paracetamol and mix with water, then propylene glycol as shown in Figure 1, then syrup and finally glycerol. However from the results obtained, glycerol is generally slightly better than syrup as a solvent for paracetamol. This may be due to the cumulative effect of multiple hydroxyl groups present on each of the co solvent molecules (see Appendix I). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each of the co solvents have hydroxyl groups that allow them to hydrogen bond with water, accounting for their miscibility with water. To some extent the hydroxyl groups also allow the solvents to hydrogen bond with the carbonyl and hydroxyl groups of paracetamol (Appendix I). Because of the stable hydrophobic aromatic ring in paracetamol, it would better dissolve in more non polar solvents. Thus ethanol, with only one polar hydroxyl group, is the most effective solvent. Propylene glycol has two hydroxyl groups and glycerol has three, slightly reducing each solvent s ability to dissolve paracetamol. Made by one of the largest corporations in the world. The creators of a product on the forefront of the American consciousness. As intertwined into American culture as baseball, apple pie, and Thanksgiving dinner. That product of course was Coca Cola, the formula of which had remained unchanged close to 100 years. Since its creation by Atlanta pharmacist John Pemberton in 1885 as a topical remedy marketed as a cure from ailments such as stomach pains, headaches, and even impotence, Coca Cola had grown into the number one drink in America. In 1888 Coca Cola was sold to Asa Candler whose innovative and aggressive marketing tactics would kick start Coca Cola on its path of global domination. From the start rival Pepsi Cola established itself as a formidable number two in the soft drink market. Founded in 1893 Pepsi would continue to play second fiddle to Coke for over sixty years. Coca Colas marketing strategy was simple yet genius. Make Cokes presence known everywhere in America. Ensure that advertisements are placed in every city and every town, and guarantee that no matter where you go, a cold and refreshing Coke beverage was available within arm s reach. By doing this the Coca Cola Corporation made their product a part of the American identity. With the advent of World War 2, company executives saw their chance to introduce Coke to the world. ... • 13. Evaluation Of A Research On Formative Feedback 3. Reviews/Commentaries Shute,V. (2008). Focus on formative feedback. Review of Educational Research, 78(1), 153 189. Shute conducts an extensive literature review of the research on formative feedback because despite extensive investigation, the author proposes, is still misunderstood due to conflicting findings and inconsistent pattern results. The focus of this review is that feedback must be delivered correctly to be effective. Therefore, Shute offers a twofold proposal: to understand the features, functions, and interactions of feedback in relation to learning and to use the findings to create guidelines for generating effective formative feedback. The focus of this study is primarily on performing tasks and the identified issues are several. Correct delivery of feedback is defined and guidelines are proposed since most research on this subject concludes that feedback can enhance learning considerably if delivered correctly. The interaction of task and student characteristics is investigated to address the major gaps in understanding that still exist, inclusively, instructional context in the efficiency of feedback. The author defines formative feedback (FF) as information intended to change a student s thinking or behavior to improve learning. It ought to be specific, helpful, timely, and not judgmental. Types of FF are: confirmation of a correct answer, clarification of the accurate response, clues, and work examples. Previous research by Swam (1983) found that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story takes place in Ancient Greek, during the Medieval Times, where the Greeks wrote that people could be transformed into werewolves. As Murray states, it states that the poem demonstrates the kinds of friendship and love that exist among the three protagonists. It mentions that the poem depicts how de France confronts her readers with a story that raises a moral issue. It adds that many of de France s poems critique the unchristian and uncharitable marriages. The story really gives off a good example, on how the people who one think s can trust with one s life, especially in this case, can turn on one for the money, fame, power, etc. The three themes that are shown in The Lay of the Werewolf are betrayal, dishonor, ... Analyzing Searle s Chinese Room Argument Searle s Chinese Room Searle s Chinese Room argument tackles the question if computers can really understand or think for themselves, and if this understanding can be expressed through related terms. It is imperative to comment that this argument challenges the idea of strong AI instead of weak AI. Strong AI is the view that programmed computers can understand natural language along with other mental skills similar to humans. An example of strong AI is a computer that can play a board game intelligently or fathom a language. Weak AI is the understanding that computers are only useful in things like psychology or grammar. The great difference is that weak AI makes no claim that computers actually understand or are intellectual. The Chinese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Searle states in his writing, The point of the argument is this: if the man in the room does not understand Chinese on the basis of implementing the appropriate program for understanding Chinese then neither does any other digital computer solely on that basis because no computer, qua computer, has anything the man does not have. It is important to understand that this computation is just rule based symbol manipulation, and that the manipulation and matching is done purely on the basis of the shape of the symbols, not on their meaning. This is central for the discussion of intelligent AI because it claims that artificial intelligence will never be able to understand and think for its own. It will always rely on a human controller to give it the inputs that it needs to have a matching output. Searle points out that in executing the program not even he would understand the messages. He would only manipulate symbols, on the basis of their shapes, according to the rules in the manual. Therefore, because of the hardware independence of computation, if Searle would not be understanding Chinese under those conditions, neither would any other piece of hardware executing that Chinese Turing Test passing program. This argument directly argues against the theory that cognition is just computation that both humans and AI can achieve. Another way to state this argument in a more simplified manner is that programs are entirely syntactical and because minds have a semantics, programs are not minds because syntax isn t the same as ... For many this companionship is seen to be true love or one s perception of what true love is. Time often plays a vital role in the success of relationships. Using Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Shakespeare s sonnets and John Green s The Fault in Our Stars, I am going to show how the concept of time and the influence of society can sometimes thwart the path of true romance. Here Austen is making a valid point that love comes across more powerful than any other feeling. Whether that feeling is pride, fear or judgement. The Last Supper By Leonardo Da Vinci Essay Bad Company When Leonardo da Vinci painted his famous work, The Last Supper , he prepared himself by making a thorough study of the lives of each of the twelve Apostles as well as the Lord. Then he set out to find real faces to paint as the faces of the thirteen men represented in the painting. As the story goes, he thought finding a face to paint as the face of the Lord would be the most difficult. His goal was to find a man in whose face; he could see love, compassion and kindness. He wanted to see the glow of purity in his countenance and a gleam akin to divinity in his eyes. Da Vinci searched for a number of months before he found a man whose countenance portrayed the characteristics that he needed to paint the face of Jesus Christ. The man gave his permission and his face was painted as the face of the Lord. During the following three years, Leonardo da Vinci found other men, whose faces he painted as the faces of Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Thaddaeus and Simon. Then he began searching for a face to paint as the face of Judas. He would need to find a man in whose face he could see dissipation and despair. There would be no gleam in his eyes. Finally, he learned about a fellow who was being held down at the jail for thievery and drunkenness. The artist went to the jail and as soon as he saw the man, he knew the face that he had been looking was found. He had discovered the face, he would paint as that of Judas; the ... Through the Test Tube, we hoped that the Carbon Dioxide given off would travel through the tube and turn the Lime Water (used as an indicator) into a milky colour. Without much surprise it did and we could conclude that the Yeast did give off Carbon Dioxide, much like our previous experiment (Carbon Dioxide given off by the Yeast causing the Dough to rise). Conclusion: From our results I can safely assume that my Hypothesis was correct for both experiments and I can now, for sure, say that Yeast does cause Dough to rise. Other than stating that obvious fact, not much can be said for the first experiment other than we proved Yeast is extremely important for making the Dough rise. Without the Yeast giving off Carbon Dioxide, the Dough wouldn t rise. It would also be good to note that the Dough s sticky material traps the Carbon Dioxide, causing the mound to rise. For our Alcoholic Fermentation experiment, once again, my Hypothesis was right on the mark. The Fermentation caused by the Yeast created heat, warming up the tube. Also it turns the sugar into Alcohol and simply smelling the Test Tube, after the experiment, can also prove this as Alcohol has a very distinctive smell, easily recognised. My third observation of this experiment showed that Carbon Dioxide was given off, turning the Lime Water milky. I cannot say I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The development, persecution, and characteristics of each religion are significant. When the Jewish people left Egypt and settled in Israel they established the twelve tribes of Israel. The difference between the Jews and the Jewish Christians was that the Jewish Christians believed Jesus was their savior. The second stage brought on changes to their belief system and biblical texts. After branching out and away from Judaism, Christianity created the New Testament. This is very different compared to what Judaism follows in the Old Testament. Christians veritably created their own version of the Old Testament that utilizes their own theologies and ethical ideas. Christians believe that only some parts of the Old Testament applied to them but some wanted to follow the original ways from the Old Testament. This created different types of Christianity such as Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, etcetera. Christians believed Jesus was their savior, which separated them from Judaism. • 33. What Does A Prayer For Owen Meany Undoubtedly one of the most popular stories of the 21st century was Harry Potter, a series in which readers follow the life of a twelve year old boy who learns that he is magical. Throughout the novels aspects of magic are blended into the real world, portrayed by the setting Great Britain, which contains a large proportion of non magical people, referred to as muggles. The way the author, J.K Rowling, set the book up and blended these two aspects, magic and realism, is analogous to the way John Irving wrote a Prayer for Owen Meany through the genre of magical realism. Furthermore, the use of this genre allowed for the development of John Irving s main message. By setting the story in the realistic town of Gravesend, New Hampshire, and incorporating the exceptional religious character of Owen Meany, the author sets the scene to impart his thoughts upon readers. John Irving s main message in a Prayer for Owen Meany is that not all people view the world using science and logical reason. A realistic element of the story is that John and Owen were raised in the small town of Gravesend, New Hampshire. To a reader who doesn t know that this town is in fact factitious, the town might seem very realistic. Seeing as the town is comprised similarly to many towns during the time period that Owen was set in, it would not be improbable that an unknowing reader might be lead to believe that the setting of this story is a real town. In fact the town even has multiple churches such as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the past year, we as students have had a very unique opportunity as criminal justice majors to see some interesting events unfold, such as the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, a number of allegedly wrongful deaths done by the police s hands, to the riots in Baltimore. With all of this happening, I feel that the use of technology and militarization is beneficial to the men and women across America who serve as police officers. Along with this, not only is it more beneficial to police, but it could be more beneficial to civilians as well. For Example, one of the new advances that police use that are beneficial are tasers. Tasers are less lethal compared to firearms, but are effective enough to subdue a suspect. Protection of the people is one of the police s most important jobs, and if that means we adopt a more militaristic style of policing compared to a more community based policing style, then so be it. For example, a study was done on the Long Beach Police and found the department became more focused on tactical concerns such as patrol and counter terrorism while abandoning policing activities such as foot patrol. (Lee, 2010). Now, I am not an expert on the crime patterns in Long Beach, however, I believe it would be safe to say the crime levels have dropped due to the militarization, as would be criminals may be more likely to wimp out , knowing the police have the weapons they need in order to stop them. Finally, with all of the tools available to the police in this time of militarization, they should be able to handle just about any situation that they may come into contact with, which is a very good ... Euthyphro [ca. 399 395 BCE], by Plato, is a written dialogue about the events which occurred before the trial of Socrates , where Socrates was charged with two crimes impiety against the pantheon of Athens and corruption of the youth. Socrates was accused of failing to acknowledge the gods that the city acknowledges and introducing new deities . The consequence for such a crime was death. Euthyphro was in the court to present manslaughter charges against his father to the court. Socrates begins his debate with Euthyphro by asking Euthyphro does he have a clear understanding of what is pious and impious. • 38. Sylvia Plath Poem Comparison Essay Sylvia Plath Poem Comparison Essay Saying Sylvia Plath was a troubled woman would be an understatement. She was a dark poet, who attempted suicide many times, was hospitalized in a mental institution, was divorced with two children, and wrote confessional poems about fetuses, reflection, duality, and a female perspective on life. Putting her head in an oven and suffocating was probably the happiest moment in her life, considering she had wanted to die since her early twenties. However, one thing that was somewhat consistent throughout her depressing poetry would be the theme of the female perspective. The poems selected for analysis and comparison are, A Life (1960), You re (1960), Mirror (1961), The Courage of Shutting Up (1962) and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last few lines seem to attribute her depression to her age, and maybe the fact that she never got to enjoy her childhood, her young years, and she despises seeing herself grow old in the reflection of the lake. The Courage of Shutting Up was written in 1962, a year before Sylvia s end, and uses the ideas of repetition, speech, and censorship to express her ideas on female obedience and civil censorship. The female perspective here is the idea of not being able to speak out, and living in repetition, with a defeated tongue hung up on the wall like a trophy. The poem uses many different types of diction, but most of it is masculine, and war like, as if Plath was fighting a war against men. The first stanza of the poem begins with The courage of the shut mouth, in spite of artillery! and follows with bits of diction to describe a record player, with black disks... of courage... as to describe Plath s thoughts and feelings just playing over and over again, asking to be heard. The second stanza continues with the record player metaphor, a needle in its groove , and transitions to an overqualified tattooist in the third stanza, once a surgeon (maybe a metaphor for Sylvia s downgrade from a great poet to a dumpy mother) who repeats the same overused tattoos over and over, silently, and solemnly. The fourth stanza returns to the metaphor of war, and artillery as well as the record player. The tongue is introduced, and is described as indefatigable, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. The Civil War And American History In American History many significant events took place that reflected religious faith of multiple Americans and has shaped the world we live in today. Throughout the 1800s, the most memorable times in America took place throughout the Civil War. Events that escalated before, during and even following the Civil War resulted in a chain of reactions from many people within that period. After analyzing the events of the Civil War, I was able to draw a connection to the actions of the soldiers, women and Black Americans and how they were consistent with Christian faith. Prior to emphasizing how Americans were consistent with Christian faith, first it is vital to know a little background information on that particular period. The Civil War was seen as a traumatic period. According to the text, the Civil War was the bloodiest in American History that ended with 618,000 killed. There are various arguments between the true causes of the war. Despite the arguments that claim slavery was not the cause, slavery did however play a major factor in each argument presented. Therefore, Slavery can be considered the major cause of war, and an issue that grew over the years. According to Degler, slavery was clearly important as a moral issue, but also as an economic institution that divided two different, and in many ways antagonistic, societies (Degler, 2011). The division of two societies, North and South, is what lead the war itself. The Civil War consisted of battles between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Paul Laurence Dunbar Poem Analysis Paul Laurence Dunbar is African American poet who lived from in the late 1880s to the early 1900s. During his life, Dunbar wrote many poems, in both dialect and standard english. However, many of his poems are considered controversial now, due to negative racial stereotypes and dialect. Currently, some believe that Dunbar s poetry perpetuates harmful stereotypes such as use of dialect; while others believe that it helps break racial stereotypes through the portrayed emotions. Dunbar s dialect poetry is helpful for African Americans, because it accurately depicts the experience of African Americans and humanizes them. The depiction black struggles within Dunbar s dialect poetry makes Dunbar s poetry beneficial for the black race. For example, in An Ante bellum Sermon, when Dunbar writes But when Moses wif his powah Comes an sets us chillun free, We will praise de gracious Mastah, Dat has gin us liberty; An we ll shout ouah halleluyahs, On dat mighty reck nin day, When we se reco nised ez citiz , Huh uh! Chillun, let us pray! , he is depicting a common feeling of African Americans. Although this poem takes place before the Civil War, and before Dunbar s birth, both of Dunbar s parents were ex slaves, which gave him an understanding of slavery. With an understanding of slavery, Dunbar was able to depict the desire for slaves to be rid of the unjust system. Beyond that, the idea is still applicable to the time in which he lived. From one issue to another, people anticipate equality while in dire situations. Similarly, in Song, Dunbar depicts the harmful race relations from his time. Instead of the black experience being told from a sympathizer perspective, Dunbar has a better understanding of what it was like to be black in the 1890s. The competition and hate between flowers symbolizes the conflict between white and black people. Through this metaphor, especially at the end when they celebrate the death of all daisies when he writes In de fiel de flags is wavin in a tantalizing way, Kin o joicin case de daisies all is daid, Dunbar depicts the hateful race relations of his time. Dunbar s representation of black issues brings attention to them, which benefits African Americans. Because Dunbar s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Issue of Transnational Aid Intervention The issue of transnational aid intervention has become a worldwide topic for debate regarding its role in ethics and legitimacy in international relations. Historically, international aid had been provided by developed worlds governments. However, aid provided by the developed world became problematic because of international treaties, violation of state sovereignty, and the spread of capitalist enterprises (Willetts). In addition to, many of the developing world leaders, consider the concept of aid intervention to be potentially threatening and an excuse for more powerful nations to undermine and threaten their state sovereignty through a change in the nations economic and social discourses (Willetts). In an attempt to counterbalance this predicament, institutions known as Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) were formed to emphasize humanitarian issues, developmental aid and sustainable development (Willetts). An NGO is defined as a citizen based association that operates independently of government, usually to deliver resources or serve some social or political purpose (Willetts 1). Currently, NGOs play a crucial role in providing mechanisms which enhance global human progress. To understand the work of NGOs one must know the history of humanitarian aid and developmental assistance. History of Humanitarian Aid and Developmental Assistance Humanitarian aid is defined as physical resources and or logistical assistance intended to save lives, alleviate suffering, and ...
