Evaluation Of A Project Manager Management
The report describes the tasks performed by me in accordance to the directives given
by the course COSC 684 300: Professional Internship in Summer 2015 semester. The
internship was scheduled from May 18, 2015 thru August 18, 2015. Mainly, three
task areas were selected and agreed upon in the agreement between me and the
company.
Activities and Experience: Preparing estimates by performing take offs for
windows and lighting provided a practical experience to the coursework in
estimation. Master schedule, daily, weekly and monthly forecasts for a project was
covered by scheduling and also the various processes that go into making the
schedule more efficient like crashing were observed on site as well as from the
perspective of a project manager. During the course of work, a proposal for
standardizing the processes like material management on site, preparing punch lists
and work force management were proposed by me which are implemented or in the
stage of implementation after review, this is intended to improve productivity and an
attempt to embrace lean principles in the organization. During the biding process, the
interactions with the bidding contractors and the negotiations we conducted was
application of negotiations in competitive environment. Processing the change orders,
preparing the scope of work, work schedule, contract agreement and schedule of
values would act as a perfect foundation for contracts and risk management. Company
operations were observed and
The Failure And Stability Of Americas And Developing...
The Failure to Maintain Stability Over time, history has shown that Americas
involvement in conflicts, proved to be futile efforts in practicing policies of
attraction and developing relationships with other cultures. Some leaders successfully
established levels of control over indigenous persons, but not without promoting an
agenda, or following orders that were not their own. Leaders, left to their own
devices, promoted the political agenda via a military mindset that did not allow for
diverse ways of thinking, nor enable military forces to approach resistance from a
diplomatic perspective. The military forces design could not maintain a sound
framework of government. Therefore, only organizations fluent in the practices of...

Benevolent assimilation allowed for the expansion of business, the improvement of
education and health conditions, and the construction of roads, schools, and public
marketplaces. The United States provided inoculations against disease and cleaned the
city streets in local townships. Additionally, Army officers, placed in civil positions
of authority, were responsible for supervising these projects through completion.
Some of the officers practiced policies of attraction in the form of immersing
themselves in the Moro culture through familiarization of Moro customs and beliefs.
However, the agenda of convincing local leaders, or datus, to accept United States
sovereignty through strong emphasis that the American government would preserve
their rights, and allow for continued practice of Islam, failed. The United States was
unable to acquire the buy in needed from the Moro. Conversely, the campaign
President McKinley worked so hard to put in place, began to break down, and
fighting between the Americans and the Moro population, increased.
Direct Rule The primary reason for the conflict, aside from the lack of trust of the
Americans by the Moro population, was a demonstration of religious and cultural
differences between the two countries. The Bates Agreement of 1899 was an ill
attempt at making the local leaders and the Moro population, feel as though they
were in control.
Cluny Abbey Research Paper
Cluny Abbey
The Cluny Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery located in France. The abbey is
dedicated to St. Peter. The abbey was built in the Romanesque style with three
churches built from the 4th century to the 12th century. The basilica was one of the
largest until St. Peter s Basilica was constructed in Rome.
The History of the Cluny Abbey
Cluny Abbey was founded in 910 by the Duke of Aquitaine, William I. The first
Abbot of the monastery was a man named Berno, who subjected himself only to Pope
Sergius III. The abbey was prided on its stricter adherence to rules and is noted as
one of the leaders of western monasticism. William I stipulated that this monastery be
free from any type of authority save for the Pope himself, and even ... Show more

This is significant because most patrons would retain some type of proprietary
interest or use their patronage to instill their family as abbots. While this was a
common practice, William I chose to free the monastery of any type of entanglements.
In the 11th century the Benedictine Order established itself providing stability for
society. During the French Revolution in 1790, the abbey was seized and most of it
destroyed. Today only one of the original eight towers are left.
The Influence of the Cluny Abbey
The Cluny is home to an impressive biblical library and is regarded as one of the
most important libraries in Europe. The library has survived many disputes, including
the sacking by the Huguenots, and the destruction brought on by the French
Revolution. The Cluny was surrounded by a thriving community and the Cluny was
independent of expectation and could hire any monk they chose.
One of the biggest influences of the Cluny Abbey is the number of Cluny monks that
were chosen by their peers to become the next Pope. Their names were:

How far do you agree that the brutality of the Bolsheviks was the main reason why
they remained in power in the years 1917 24?
This essay shall address the issue of how the far the brutality of Bolshevik Regime
ensured the maintaining of it s power between the years of 1917 24. This essay shall
explore topics concerning the Dictatorship Of The Proletariat , The Cheka, War
Communism, The Red Terror and other potential reasons for the Bolsheviks
remaining in power. This essay shall also explore the various views put forth by
various Historians such as Robert Conquest and Richard Pipes.

The Russian Civil War (1917 1923) saw millions of deaths and millions further
starved. The Bolsheviks saw the importance of maintaining their power in the cities in
order to maintain power over the country itself. To keep the people happy thus, they
realised they needed to keep the people fed. This led top the eventual inception of War
Communism. An economic/agricultural policy incorporated by War Communism
was known as Prodrazvyorstka requisition of agricultural surpluses from peasants in
excess of absolute minimum for centralized distribution among the remaining
population. This meant that the Bolsheviks could seize whatever food they needed
from the countryside towns and villages and distribute it amongst the urban
population in cities such as Petrograd and Moscow.
The peasants in the countryside did not, however, always co operate with the
Bolshevik authorities when it came to handing over their grain. In 1921, the sailors
at Kronstadt revolted in direct response to slipping living standards and the
starvation of people across the country. Soon after the Bolsheviks led an army 10,000
strong to crush the rebellion, one the revolutionaries were defeated around 1,200 to

The coupling of the starvation brought about by War Communism and the crushing of

Pearl Harbor s Attack On Pearl Harbor
At the time of the attack, there were approximately eighty different vessels in the
harbor, most notably eight battleships, three cruisers, four destroyers, one
minelayer, five auxiliary craft, and over 400 aircraft present at Pearl Harbor
(Figure 2). Additionally, the three aircraft carriers of the fleet were not present: the
USS Enterprise was approximately 150 miles West of Pearl Harbor, the USS
Saratoga was still in San Diego, California, and the USS Lexington was at sea in
the vicinity of Midway Island (Yarnall, 2003). The Japanese Imperial Navy forces
that attacked Pearl Harbor were comprised of six carriers, several submarines, and
over 450 aircraft. Despite being outnumbered in terms of sheer military power, the
Japanese forces had the element of surprise on their side, allowing them to strike the

In 1937, Japan invaded North China and in response, the United States imposed hefty
trade sanctions and eventually an embargo with the intent to restrain Japan s
aggression in China (Feis, 1971). Then in January 1941, Admiral Yamamoto began
communicating with other Japanese officials about planning an attack against the
United States Pacific Fleet housed at Pearl Harbor. That same month, Joseph C.
Grew, the United States Ambassador to Japan, sent word via wire to Washington
stating that he learned Japan was planning a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. All
senior officials in Washington disregard the information due to disbelief, and figured
a Japanese offensive in the Philippines was more likely. In February 1941, Admiral

Lieutenant General Walter C. Short assumes command of the United States Army

begin planning for a defensive but a request to Washington for additional men,

Men and Women Were Created Equ Essay

Men and Women were Created Equal Men are not superior to women, they are equal
in every way. Although it is true that society has stereotyped women into traditional
roles, this preconceived notion, is totally false. Action to promote the concept of
equality in our society needs to be taken. Women have been fighting for equality for
many decades. As a result of this battle, some amazing transformations have taken
place amongst the female gender. Women have become educated and over the last
few decades have started to take active roles and their rightful place in society. They
have made major inroads in working opportunities, including government, science and

2 Another example of women sharing an equal role in today s society is
demonstrated in the military. Today s women joining the Canadian Armed Forces
are equally eligible with men for combat roles. Over 229,000 women serve on active
duty in the military services of the Department of Defense. This monumental step
allows women to become takers, as well as producers of life. Women now have equal
rights and responsibilities in the defense of our country. These advances have been
made, not only on the ground but in the air as well. In 1988, Deanna Brasseur
became Canada s first female fighter pilot. That same year, the defense department
appointed their first female general, Sheila Hellstrom. The department also stated that
women often do better at riflery than men due to the fact that they listen to instruction
while men tend to think they know it all. A maleveteran sergeant, proud of his work
with female recruits, says that: Today s women won t find anything that hard to
adjust to in the military. The facts are telling a tale. Many doors are opening for
women and they are barreling through with boundless energy and determination.
The 21st century is here and the traditional role of the stay at home mother is all but
disappeared. Marriage and children are still signs of the successful women, however
women are less willing to accept exclusive roles of housewife and mother. More and
more women are entering the labor market as education has
Who Is Esther Greenwood In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Depressions often personified as a villain that traps people and does not let them
go. This is a claim most of its victims would agree with, especially Esther
Greenwood. The Bell Jar, written by the Sylvia Plath, follows Esther Greenwood s
descent into and recovery from madness. Esther is a young and brilliant writer,
whose ambitions are stunted by a crippling depression. Plath, describes an outlook on
reality that is distorted by mental illness through the symbolism of the fig tree and the
bell jar. The indirect characterization of Esther also gives a perspective of this
distorted reality. Though she wants to move forward, her state of mind holds her
back. Plath argues, that mental illnesses give one an enlightened perception of reality,

world [...] with each flash a great jolt drubbed me till I thought my bones would
break and the sap fly out of me like a split plant. I wondered what terrible thing it
was that I had done. (Plath 143). Regardless of how in effective the treatment is
known to be at the present time it was thought to be quite effective at that point.
However, Esther viewed it as a punishment, showing that unlike most people of the
time Esther sees the world in a different way. Her depression allowed her to have an
enlightened perspective on the treatment and be able to prove it ineffective ness at
that moment and later in the novel.
Esther Greenwood story shows an unconventional part of the depression, a
different outlook on reality. Depression is in no way good thing to go through but
with this level of sadness the sufferer is forced to look at themselves in a different
and enlightened way. Esther understands that she, if she forgets her emotional pain,
could have a conventionally nice life. Nevertheless, she also understands that the
perils of the disease hold her back and it is not something she can run away from.
Either directly or indirectly for better or for worse depression changes the way people

Analysis Of President John Trump s America First DoesnT...
The world is in a state of anarchy where there is no authority above the states to
control their actions. Realists, who believe individuals are selfish and power
seeking, think the world is a self help system where states view each other as
adversaries. The article America First Doesn t Mean America Alone, written by H.R.
McMaster and Gary D. Cohn, portrays President Donald John Trump as a realist
who views the world as an international arena where states and individuals compete
to enhance security in a balance of power system. Trump s America first policy
practices realism that increases military power and intensifies the United States
control over countries such as paper. In this paper, I will demonstrate how depending
on realism alone is dangerous and problematic for the United States when it comes to
environmentalism such as Paris Accord and trade agreement such as Trans Pacific
Partnership. During one of Trump s speeches in January, the American president
strongly affirmed advocation to the America first foreign policy (Calamur). In other
words, the president is focusing its foreign policy based on its national interest
strengthening America s economic prosperity, standing against inequitable trade
practices, and building strong alliances with economically thriving partners and
national security. To eliminate ISIS and other radical Islamic terror groups, the
Trump Administration is not only cooperating with international partners to engage
in cyberwarfare...and disable propaganda and recruiting , but also rebuilding the
American military ( America First Foreign Policy ). Trump believes that terrorist
groups have been using the internet as their key recruitment tool and thus, his
administration will be cutting off militant propaganda on the internet. Additionally,
the president is trying to reverse the trend of the United States Navy (USN) since the
Navy shrunk from over 500 ships to 275 from 1991 to 2016 ( Beckwith ).
Considering the fact that the United States is militarily strong, the Trump
Administration is acting based on its national interest through involvement in
cyberwarfare and an increase in military power. Aside from increasing the Navy s
power, Trump is also aiming
Religion in Hamlet Essay
The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, is one of the most famous tragedies
William Shakespeare has ever written. Found throughout Shakespeare s tragedy are
many religious references. According to Peter Milward, the author of Shakespeare s
Christianity: The Protestant and Catholic Poetics of Julius Caesar, Macbeth, and
Hamlet, From a purely religious point of view, which is more than just biblical,
Hamlet is rich in homiletic material of all kinds, reflecting almost every aspect of
the religious situation in a deeply religious age (Milward 9). These pieces of
religious literature are crucial to the plot of Hamlet. The religious elements found in
this tragedy provide the plot, allusions, and foreshadowing. One of the very first...

In addition to the idea of purgatory, there is an allusion to the Garden of Eden in
Hamlet. During Hamlet s first soliloquy he says Denmark, tis an unweeded garden
(Shakespeare 1.2.135). The audience probably would not think anything of this;
however, once the play gets to scene five of act one it brings into question what
garden Hamlet and the Ghost are talking about. In this scene the Ghost is telling
Hamlet how King Claudius killed him. The Ghost says, sleeping in my orchard,
/ A serpent stung me (Shakespeare 1.5.35 36). According to Michael Ferber, the
author of A Dictionary of Literary Symbols, a serpent can symbolize the devil, and
an orchard is also known as a garden (Ferber 186, 83). Knowing these two pieces of
information found in Hamlet the audience is now able to infer that the garden
being alluded to is the Garden of Eden. According to the New Living Translation
Bible, the Garden of Eden is considered the fall of man. This is where Eve was
convinced by the Devil to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve
then convinced Adam to eat from the tree, which was considered the first sin (Gen.
2 3). Shakespeare was wise in choosing this biblical allusion because at this point of
the tragedy the audience learns about the first sin of King Claudius. If Shakespeare
had not used this biblical allusion in Hamlet the audience would have lost the
importance of this being the first sin
Oil And Natural Gas Pipeline
Pipeline transportation is a process which can be used to transport natural gas from
discovery areas or refinery plant to its distribution station, its length is generally
from hundreds to thousands of kilometers. It has already had 130 years history, its
development is closely related to the improvement of oil and gas industry as one of
the main way to ship oil and natural gas. Modern pipeline transportbegan in the mid
19th century, the first natural gas pipeline around the world has been built at 1886
in Pennsylvania of American but its further development is beginning in the 20th
century. With the expansion of natural gas industry after World War II, countries in
the world have begun to build considerable natural gas pipelines, the length of
global main pipelines have exceed 1,600,000 Kilometer so far. Currently, it has
already become an important way to transport a large quantity of natural gas on
land. This essay will show the efficiency of natural gas pipeline transportation in
safety, stability and economy aspects. In addition, pipelines can enable natural gas
transport more secure, stable and economical. Pipelines safety will be discussed in
the first, following this, the essay will show that pipelines are easier to maintain a
stable operating condition. At last, the economy of pipelines will be given.
There are several ways to transport natural gas in energy industry, such as through
vehicles, rails and ships. However, pipeline transportation could be one of the

the specie is not native to it; and has the ability to spread very quickly , which is
believed to cause damage to the environment, human economy and/or human health.
The term most used for this species is Introduced species (also called non native ),
these species affect the habitats and environments they invade environmentally,

that is not native to an ecosystemand which causes harm. Species that grow and
reproduce quickly, and aggressively, that causes harm to an environment are given

Stolen Generation Essay
The Stolen Generation was a group of tragic people in Australian history, they are the
victims of the White Australian policy pursued by the Australian government at the
beginning of the 20th century. The apology to the Stolen Generations was the first
conducted in Parliament by Kevin Rudd and it established a path to resolving the
historical injustice which was fully controlled by the government (Reilly, 2009). This
paper will reflect on my experience of the lecture from Ivan Clarke on the Stolen
Generation and identify strategies I could use when teaching the Stolen Generationsto
secondary students.

to go home, but they can not return to their childhood; they may be able to reunite
with parents and loved ones again, but the time has passed. After the lecture, I
realized that they can go home again, but the
Lavey San Francisco Analysis
Satanism is a topic that has been misunderstood for many generations. Lavey is
someone who started to do a church of satanism in San Francisco. There has been
many problems involving if Lavey, the maker of the church, should actually even
have the church present in San Francisco. People were against this due to the
stereotypes and criticism they would get from the Christians, who would mainly
criticize the satanic church views on beliefs and religion. In reality the church of
Satan does not only worship Satan, it can focus on your own beliefs in religion.
Lavey gets his conflicts signing the petition for gaining the public church of Satan

with the meyer of San Francisco to get permission to gain the church in the city that
way he can have it shared with the public. The christians were against with that idea,
but Lavey tries to prove that it wasn t really necessary towards discriminating the
world and worshiping Satan like how the Christians think. It focuses mainly on
benefiting themselves without causing any harm towards others who can oppose them.

Communication When I am communicating with others, I try to explain my point
in a way the person can understand it. When talking with one of my parents about
something that happened at school, I may try to describe things in a different way
than I would with someone who is in the class with me. When I am trying to
describe an object or maybe directions, I use my hands or body movements to help
me better describe what I m talking about. On a normal day, I communicate with
my fiancГ© via telephone as we are in different places throughout the week. I also
enjoy communicating with friends that are not in the area by text message or
Facebook. When I have something serious or important to discuss with my
parents, I usually give them a call or talk to them about it on the weekends when I go
home. They are almost always available to talk when I call. When I m sick or in pain,
I usually want to be left alone. I ll take over the counter medicines to try to relieve
symptoms and if the sickness/pain persists for over a week or two, I will go in to see
a doctor. I know my familyis always there though to take care of me if needed.

When talking to a family member, I m a little more comfortable standing within
arm s reach. When talking to a friend or a coworker, I m probably not as
comfortable standing that close. I would say I m not a very touchy person when it
comes to people in general. If a stranger were to touch me, my first reaction would be
to step away from them and figure

Every store has about 15 tills and each till is operated by an employee. One of the
promises of Tesco is I don t queue , which effectively means that any customerwho
completes his shopping at the store, when he comes for billing he does not have to
queue. This practically is not possible all the time especially during peak sales
period of Christmas and Easter but this is normally followed across all Tesco
stores. A key task for this promise to be kept is the turnaround time of the employee
at the till. It is extremely important that the employee at the till picks the products,
scans them, accepts the payment (Cash or Card), returns the balance and finally
gives the bill to the customer. The entire process has to be carried out quickly so
that firstly the customer gets his products billed in quick time but at the same time
it allows the till to get freed for the next customer. Every happy customer comes
back again and conveys the good word to many more potential customers. In the
process there is more footfall and thereby the sales of the stores increase and so does

The Importance Of Masculinity
Masculinity is not something given to you, but something you gain. And you gain it
by winning small battles with honor, (Norman Mailer). Masculinity holds a different
meaning for everybody. For some people it means being a male, but for others it
holds a deeper meaning. For example, my dad believes that in order to have
masculinityhe must be able to fix everything. He takes on tasks having to do with
landscaping, plumbing, lighting, and even interior design; most of the time, he says
something along the lines of I can fix that in a minute or I ve just got to go get the
supplies. He then waits until my mom gets a professional to come do the task, and
he claims that we did not give him enough time to get it done. My dad, along with my
other malefriends, feels that since he is a male he needs to prove his masculinity by
putting on the act of a handyman. My father went to school at Johnson and Wales
University for a degree in criminal justice. Getting a bachelor s degree in criminal
justice does not teach one how to fix the caulk in a bathtub; in spite of that, my
father attempted this task. A couple of weeks ago, I realized that the caulk in my
shower had begun to deteriorate. I informed my dad that I thought it needed to be
repaired and suggested he call a plumber. His response went a little bit like this Why
do I need a plumber? That s an easy fix! All I have to do is... He then proceeded to
explain to me how he believed one would fix the caulk in a shower. I knew
Qin Shi Huangdi Personality

caused a lot of bloodshed, but not so much on the Qin side. Although the unwritten

because he was born into loyalty. At least, that s I partially think. I also think that he
might have done it because of his mindset, and how brutal it was. Maybe it was that
his employees had drilled it into his head when he was young because he had the

One of the largest and most controversial issues we as humans face, includes the
protection and preservation of the natural world we call home. When a small group
displays the potential to damage or destroy our beautiful land, the task lies with the
people to eliminate such a threat. Between the years of 2004 2009, Greenpeace, the
Natural Resources Defense Council, and others established the Kleercut campaign
against Kimberly Clarkin order to prevent the destruction of the Boreal forest
(Kleercut campaign, 2009). Kimberly Clark is the world s largest manufacturer of
tissues; their most prevalent brand being Kleenex. Accusations were made against

Every day, the Boreal forest is flushed down the toilet or thrown away by
unsuspecting consumers across Europe. Another sentence to the right contains the
following information in the same black font: By choosing more recycled fiber
and less trees for its disposable tissue products, and by committing to
environmentally sound logging operations, Kimberly Clark could end its part in
the destruction of ancient forests like the Boreal. Directly below the prior sentence
may be the most important peace of the advertisement of all, and it is in a bold,

boreal forest. Visit www.stopkleenex.com Finally, the sponsoring logo Greenpeace,

adults in the U.S. and Canada who care about the environment, endangered animals,
and the Boreal Forest of Canada. The audience also includes those who have access
to a phone or internet and can contact the Kimberly Clark Company to voice their
complaints with Kleenex. The goal of the campaign was to compel the viewer to
make a difference and express his/her opinion about the situation. Greenpeace tries to
accomplish its goal of changing the way that Kimberly Clark makes the tissue
products by expressing all three elements of rhetoric within the advertisement. First,
the advertisement uses logos to persuade the audience not to buy

THE INTERSECTION OF INCLUSION, SCHOOL CULTURE, AND SOCIAL
JUS TICE LEADERSHIP Educating students with disabilities has evolved
immensely throughout history. Initially, students with disabilities were isolated and
institutionalized. Society s perception was that it was not necessary or beneficial to
invest time or resources into this group of people (Spaulding Pratt, 2015; Dybwad,
1990; Winzer, 1998). Direct advocacy and litigations caused changes in federal
legislation (Griffith, 2015; Lloyd Lloyd, 2015). Due to the civil rights movement, stu

system has evolved to the level that educators work as teams to create individual

Theoharis (2007) defines social justice leadership whereby principals make issues of
race, class, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other historically and currently
marginalized con ditions in the US central to their advocacy, leadership practice, and
vision (p. 223). Leaders with a social justice orientation create a strategic plan that
seeks to inform and educate stake holders about inclusion. These leaders work to
transform a school culture that embraces inclusion to support students with
disabilities (Cohen, 2015). Hence, inclusion can substantially affect school culture.
School leaders must find a way to infuse inclusion into school culture for stu dents
with disabilities to be successful. According to Coulston and Smith (2013), school
culture and inclusion rely on each other to create the greatest impact on students.
School leaders must have a positive attitude regarding inclusion for it to work. The
attitude of school leaders is critical in shaping school cultures that embrace inclusive
practices to meet the social, academic, and emotional needs of all students (Pe terson

Deminishing The Effects Of Channel Interference In Vehicular Communication
Systems Using FIR Digital Filters
Abstract:
Vehicular Communication systems ,an application of wireless communication is an
increasing area of communication between the vehicles and other roadside
infrastructure in which allocation of wireless channels are used to share information
among vehicles and infrastructure and hence these channels are used for the
development and implementation of vehicular communication systems. The 10 MHz
wide channels in 5.9GHz spectrum band are reserved for this purpose by two main
protocols the WAVE standards proposed by IEEE in the United States and ETSI ITS
G5 in Europe. But still the cross channel interference affect the vehicular
communication systems. So to diminish these problems, this paper presents the
implementation of two stage lowpass equiripple FIR filter, target to be integrated with
digital baseband receiver chain of vehicular communication platform. The filter was
evaluated, optimized and tested with the simulation results and FPGA
implementation to provide the low delay generated in operation and to show the
effectiveness of the proposed filter.

Gender Stereotypes Of Male Characters In Video Games
Male characters in gaming count according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/Category:Male_characters_in_video_games are 225.
Female gaming characters according to http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki
/List_of_Women_Characters_in_Video_Games are 176. Now before you come after
me saying see that s proof of sexism lets just realize that ALOT of the male
characters in these games have little to no personality. Or they are simply huge
bulky guys made to simply kill things that are it. Example, Doom guy from the
games first introduced December 10, 1993 introduced doom guy. A mostly
emotionless space marine fighting demons, never speaks except to a grunt now
and then. Male characters are most of the time are fit men. Female characters most
of the time are fit women. What confuses me if no one ells is why people are so
pissed about this, example, if a male gaming character is shirtless, no one gives a
shit, if a female gaming character, is say in a bikini, its sexualized . Point and case,
some feminists attacked the game hitman for sexualizing woman and being able to

Take GTA V, a big criticism is, as Anita sarkeesian said you can pick up hookers,
kill them, or you can either run them over. Now my argument to this is, so the fuck
what, first of all why is it bad you can pick up a hooker? Shocker, hookers exist,
and people pick them up. Secondly while it s not good, this happens in the real
world, and GTA V is an open world, players have full control. No one is forcing you
to kill anyone, in the sandbox anyway. In the campaign, you shoot at men and kill
them all the time, shoot them, stab them, run them over, ect. You get into gun fights
with cops regularly, most of them men, not because of sexism, but they are
simulating real life. Several thousands of men are killed; nearly half as many women
The Movie, The Matrix, Written and Directed by the...
The movie The Matrix, written and directed by The Wachowski brothers, can be
seen as the ultimate Marxist metaphor. Its basic premise is that the world as we
know it is fake; it is a computer simulated dreamworld , mimicking our own world
of the late 90s, called the Matrix. In charge of the Matrix itself is a seemingly
malevolent sentient machine species. Even worse, the sole purpose of this simulation
is to control humanity, which has been enslaved inside the simulation for several
hundreds of years. It was a matter of survival for the Machines, as the humans in the
days before the Matrixattempted to destroy the Machines by blocking their power
source the sun. So, in order for their species to continue living humanity was enslaved
within the Matrixand their bioelectric energies were harvested and used to power the
Machine civilization. Clearly if Karl Marx heard this story he would fall in love with
it, assuming that he could stomach both the violence in the movie and Keanu Reeves
acting*.
Many aspects of the plot of The Matrix have clear correspondence to elements of
Marx s Social Conflict theory. According to Marxist criticisms of Capitalism, there
are two major social classes, the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat. The Bourgeoisie, or
the elite, are the wealthy people, the business owners, and the politicians. They are
the people in charge. This elite class controls the Proletariat. The Proletariat, or non
elite, is the working class. They make up the workforce
The Fashion Of Fashion In The 1920 s
The fashion of the 1900 s was very different to those in following years. The fashion
in the early 1900 s was very sophisticated and elegant. The women commonly wore
fitted bodied dresses with petticoats and corsets under them. They usually were Вѕ
length sleeves and worn with gloves that covered up the bare arm that would have
been showing. Lace and ruffles were very much in style and the details were very
important. Men had a different sort of fashion as well. The men dressed fairly
formal and proper for casual events. They usually wore 3 piece suits with suit
jackets with no collar. The fashion in this time were sophisticated, elegant, and
chic. Women dressed in all different ways in the 1920 s. The women were all about
having a new fresh start after the war. They wanted to look sassy and cute as
opposed to the dull and boring styles of those leading up to it. Some new styles
made a big impact on the parents of the 20 s. Girls wanted to cut their hair, which
was a very controversial statement at the time were flappers. Being a flapper related
to smoking and drinking.
Changes in skirts and dress fashion have changed and varied dramatically between
the 1920s to the present, as well as within each decade. In 1920, only a few years
after World War I, skirtand dress hemlines rose and waistlines lowered to the hip.
These changes accompanied the boyish flapper fashions that marked the 1920 s as a
decade of decadence and fun. During 1926 to 1928, hemlines were to be at their

* This important quote shows how the Igbo people use their art of rhetoric so plainly.
The quote shows how our lifestyle is one of fast paced conversations, yet the Igbo
prize conversation as an art form. That art form shows how the Igbo people use
rhetoric so plainly. We all know proverbs are meant to be well thoughtout and
intentional but not quickly digested and forgotten. In the quote the metaphor
suggests that words are organized by proverbs for digestion. Palm oil was a
common form of cooking oil, and many foods were prepared with it for use. For that
reason, proverbs are the source by which words or conversations are made. The same
value that they place on food, the nourishment of life, to words, the sustenance of
communication and for these reasons the
Illusion and Reality in The Great Gatsby Essay
Illusion and Reality in The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald,
is a novel about one man s disenchantment with the American dream. In the story
we get a glimpse into the life of Jay Gatsby, a man who aspired to achieve a
position among the American rich to win the heart of his true love, Daisy Fay.
Gatsby s downfall was in the fact that he was unable to determine that concealed
boundary between reality and illusion in his life. The Great Gatsby is a tightly
structured, symbolically compressed novel whose predominant images and symbols
reinforce the idea that Gatsby s dream exists on borrowed time. Fitzgerald perfectly
understood the inadequacy of Gatsby s romantic view of wealth. At a young age...

The Buchanans represent cowardice, corruption, and the demise of Gatsby s
dream. Gatsby, unlike Fitzgerald himself, never discovers how he has been
betrayed by the class he has idealized for so long. For Gatsby, the failure of the rich
has disastrous consequences. Gatsby s desire to achieve his dream leads him to
West Egg Island. He purchased a mansion across the bay from Daisy s home. There
is a green light at the end of Daisy s dock that is visible at night from the windows
and lawn of Gatsby s house. This green light is one of the central symbols of the
novel. In chapter one, Nick observes Gatsby in the dark as he looks longingly
across the bay with arms stretched outward toward the green light. It becomes
apparent, as the story progresses that the whole being of Gatsby exists only in
relation to what the green light symbolizes This first sight, that we have of Gatsby,
is a ritualistic tableau that literally contains the meaning of the completed book
(Bewley 41). A broader definition of the green light s significance is revealed in
Chapter 5, as Gatsby and Daisy stand at one of the windows in his mansion. If it
wasn t for the mist we could see your home across the bay, said Gatsby. You always
have a green light that burns all night at the end of your dock. Daisy put her arm

Europe In A Dark Age
There is many examples of evidence to support how Europe wasn t in a dark age.
To support this claim there are some examples. The Government ,The Rise of
University, and the Gothic Cathedrals shows that Europe was not in a dark age.
One reason Europe was not in a dark age was because if it was in a dark age they
wouldn t know to stand up for themselves. They also had a lot of money, even
though King John took it all proving that they were not in a dark age. They were
also beginning to request laws so they can have some rights. According to the Black

to our heirs for ever, all the liberties written out below, to have and to keep for them

In today s economy, corporations are consistently experiencing pressures to change.
With pressures both internally and externally, leaders must constantly reassess who,
what, when, where, why and how they do business. In light of these obstacles, they
strive for the highest possibility of success by taking risks and pushing limits that
others may question as extreme. We are going to review the Chipping Away at Intel

which pressures Intel experienced and how he responded to these pressures.

Barret responded to these pressures by introducing more reorganization of the
company and also a change in strategy by cancelling the 4 GHz Pentium 4. This
restructure of business units would ensure that work was systematized throughout
the organization. Huang, Chen and Han (2011) suggest that even a reorganization
based on top of the line principles will not be successful if it is not directed by a
strong, perfectly timed business idea. Intel s new CEO to take control after Barret
was Paul Otellini, and he was in for a big challenge to keep these changes moving in
a positive direction.
If I was Paul Otellini, I would definitely step back, review all the changes and
strategies which were put in place and assess which worked and which did not. Also,
communicate internally with management and the employees to hear their concerns,
ideas and thoughts. After reassessing everything, I would then decide what, if more,
changes are needed, both large and small.

Ready made window treatments are mass produced, prefabricated treatments that
can be easily found at most major retailers, discount stores, and a large number of

Custom made treatments are a little more involved than driving to a store and
taking the window treatments home. The homeowner will have to decide if they
are going to hire a professional designer or recruit the help from an associate at a
retail store that specialize in custom made treatments. The whole process can take
months with more decisions to be made and time to make them. Another thing a
homeowner will have to consider is the size and shape of a window. Ready made
draperies will be available in a limited number of lengths the most common being
eighty four and ninety six inches long which would mean that these would not
work well for taller windows where the draperies would not be long enough to
touch the floor. Most ready made panels are offered in only one width which is
usually only sufficient to close over a thirty six inch wide window or smaller or
would be fine if they were meant to be stationary. If a wider width is desired, multiple
panels that are not sewn together would have to be purchased. When pursing the

Federal Reserve System Analysis
The Federal Reserve System regulates the economy of the United States through
monetary policy. For instance, the Fed keeps the federal fund rate low to provide
lower mortgages, increases investments, and boosts the economy. Alternatively, the
Fed manages the economy when the opposite effects take place. When the federal
fund rate is high the mortgages increase, reduces investments, and will slow the
economy, which means the Fed has to manipulate the interest rates and try to shape
economic potentials for the future. There are 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks in

The American people take precautions they see in their best interest when news of
catastrophe and possible economic unbalance is being reported. While the Board of
Governors and the Fed Chair work in the headquarters building, there is no actual
fiscal work being done in this building. Therefore, there will be no physical loss of
stockpiles of money or securities. The biggest possible loss of assets would be if the
total catastrophe of the building took place with the Board of Governors in the
building resulting in the deaths of the seven board members and countless number
of employees in the building. Without the appointed board members, the Federal
Reserve System may not have a backup plan consisting of alternate board members
to fill the role of the recently departed. Without a Board of Governors to oversee
the policies and practices of the banks, then more economic ruin could be on the
horizon. Who will be responsible for maintaining the economic flow that keeps
interest rates down and dollars circulating? This uncertainty will keep Americans
from spending more than what is needed for essentials, ultimately slowing the
economy, and an absent Board of Governors and Chairman to execute the plan to

Initially, he called attention to the fact that both public and private institutions are
similar in their subsidies but one uses them to finance items to support their

similar magnitudes. Nonetheless, the comparative appropriations in both open and

Heller Nelson s examinations demonstrate that schools and colleges are moving their
concentration to making a class of selective students and climbing up on the
distinction stepping stool. At the end of the day, however, the chain of importance of
advanced education considered by these two authors is construct more in light of the

accessible at the schools.
Subsidizing Public Higher Education Customarily, open or public, advanced
education is intensely sponsored and bolstered by the federal government.
Comprehensively, resources that help student subsidies in the public colleges and
universities principally originate from the general public as a result of the conviction
that advanced education is something worth being thankful for and that society all in
all will profit by having all the more knowledgeable individuals (Winston, 2004).
Therefore, the government, in type of the general public, relies upon income to create
public appropriations to help advanced education.
Initially, the government is the biggest contributor of outside awards and money
related funding to students. Government money is mostly need based, which implies
students need to exhibit that they have budgetary needs to be qualified for the grants

My observation was at the Grossmont college in the child development center. The
address of this center is 8800 Grossmont College Dr El Cajon, CA 92020.

it is my favorite picture books for children s because children prefer this type of
books specially for the kids four years and under.
Example for that when I was in the center I saw the teacher taught kids alphabet like
she make letters out of play dough. she play the memory game with matching lower
case to upper case. There has many pictures they put in the wall for the children and
their family every child has a pictures on his or her cabinet.
I have seen in the center teachers from different nationalities, for example Iraqi and
Mexican teachers and America But they all speak English with kids.
I have also seen in the center many sections for children to play, for example dramatic
section, Block center, Science, sensory, art, quiet area, math area, writing and
listening area.
I saw kids doing their breakfast and when they were done they went to there table
and ate there eggs and toast then the other side there were dramatic area and they
were there costumes like Spiderman. one girt was a Princess and one was a
firefighter and they were so cute when they played. The environment is very good
for playing for kids at this center I saw. also I saw the outdoor environment of this
center it is very good too.
At this center has sand area, slid area, a big grass area for the ball, a big box water to
play the kids and there has many bike and swing also they has storage for the toys
and wood s toy. so the children s

My friend says to lose weight I really need to quit sugar. Is this true?
Eating less added sugar may help. The problem is those who advocate quitting sugar
say to avoid fructose at all costs. But fructose is not only found in added sugar, it s
also found naturally in a whole range of foods including fruit. We know from the last
national nutrition survey that Australians eat very little fruit, but we should be
eating at least two serves a day. You don t have to quit sugar entirely to lose weight,
but saving foods high in added sugar such as soft drinks, chocolate, ... Show more

There is no difference in how your digestive system works at breakfast, lunch or
dinnertime. If you believe you re getting some weight loss benefit from eating your
carbohydrates earlier in the day, you re wrong. If you have lost weight this way, it s
most likely because you ve reduced the amount of food you re eating at that meal. If
you re weight watching, low GI carb choices such as a sweet potato, a half cup serve
of cooked basmati rice or a small wholegrain roll can balance dinner out nicely. Pasta
is also a good low GI choice. Stick to one cup of cooked pasta and throw some lean

Enrique s Journey By Sonia Nazario
Enrique s Journey
In the book Enrique s Journey written by Sonia Nazario, a projects reporter for the
Los Angeles Times, Nazario talks about the true story of a young Honduran boy
named Enrique that was abandoned at the age of 5 by his mother Lourdes. His
mom left to the United States as an immigrant to work so she can be able to give
her poor children a better living. After 11 years of tears, sadness and loneliness pass
Enrique decides to go to North Carolina in search of his mother. Family is the central
theme of Enrique s Journey. By basing her investigation around Enrique s story,
Nazario explores the ways that immigration affects an individual s family. Lourdes
insistently believes that she is acting in the most responsible way as a parent by
traveling to the U.S. for work. Though she initially makes the trip for her children,
they immediately feel the heartbreak of separation beginning with Enrique who is
asking where his mother is. Their whole notion of family becomes completely broken
and will be seen later when the cycle continues with the family Enrique has created
with Maria Isabella.
Characters in this book must make many difficult decisions in order to deal with
their debilitating poverty. While growing up in Honduras, Lourdes glimpsed images
of the U.S. on television as most young children in other countries do, and starting at
a young age decided she wanted a piece of the so called American Dream for herself.
She was enthralled by what she saw, like
Jonathan Swift Satire On Human Nature
Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift is a prose satire on human nature. Many
people believe that this piece of writing has a underlying lesson of man s true nature.
It has been theorized that this work is really about whether or not man is born
corrupt or becomes corrupt due to his place in society and the people around him.
Gulliver meets the Lilliputians on their island after he is shipwrecked. As the one
gets deeper into the book, the impression that the reader has changes. In the beginning
the Lilliputians do not seem too important but that changes as the book progresses.
In the beginning of the story, the people of Lilliput seem to be very untrusting of
Gulliver. When his ship is wrecked on their island, they tied him up and held ... Show

He is visited by the Emperor and they begin to form a relationship. Gulliver takes in
an interest in the language of the people and their customs. He gains their trust and
they set him free. He is then begins to help the people solve some of the problems
they are encountering. For instance, he lends a hand to help with the problems with
the problems occurring on the island of Blefuscu.
As the book continues, Gulliver begins to fall from favor and the reader s
impression of the Lilliputians begin to change. They begin to view Gulliver in a
negative way when he refuses to help them enslave the Blefuscudians. Also, when
Gulliver puts out the palace fire, the people are not happy with him although he is
only trying to help. The reader then sees how Gulliver is being treated. He went from
being feared to being liked and then back to being the enemy.
Finally, Gulliver s travels is sometimes thought of a children s book but there is so
much underlying meaning. Gulliver can be thought of as a gullible man. The
Lilliputians can be seen as corrupt government. When taken on face value this story
is one to sit back and enjoy but as you look for the deeper meanings, it then becomes
one that teaches lessons to all that read
Merce Cunningham s Influence On Contemporary Dance
In my opinion, Merce Cunningham is the most influential person in the history of
contemporary dance. Cunningham was both a dancer and in the early 1940s began to
choreograph. A former dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company, Cunningham
went on to found the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, where many of the
dancers went on to become prestigious choreographers as well. In his works, the
choreography, music and design all work separately yet together. Through his belief
that anything can follow anything (Au 155), use of space and music, exploration of
chance, is what makes Merce Cunningham the most influential person in the history
of dance.
As written in Ballet and Modern Dance, The choreographer played the role of the
painter, selecting what the viewer saw and directing his focus to different
performers or areas of the stage (155). This statement describes Merce Cunningham
s approach to choreography and space perfectly. In Cunningham s works, there is
no front and center spot. The front and center spot takes place all over the stage and
the performance can be viewed from any angle. Also, Independence was central in
Cunningham s works. For example, the video shown in class of the dancers in the
warehouse, shows the dancers at every angle and even when the camera focuses on

One of the chance methods he used, was to ...toss coins or roll dice to determine
crucial aspects of a performance... (Weinstein). Often times, as discussed in class, the
dancers that worked with Merce, would not hear the music they would be dancing to
until it came time to perform. He absorbed the aspects of everyday, or pedestrian,
movements into his works. Cunningham rewrote the traditional relationship between
dance and music: dancers did not dance to the music. Essentially, the dancers were

Cons Of Genetic Engineering
Food, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and insect control are among a few of the different
avenues of Genetic Engineering (GE). One sad truth associated with genetic
engineering is the lack of adequate testing to assure the health and well being of
society and the environment. The companies that hold the GE patents and our
government seem to more concerned with profits, than that of human life and the
effects on the environment. In this day and age, illnesses and other forms of aliments
of our society are multiplying at alarming rates. Drug manufactures, in such a hurry to
get their latest drugs to market, little, if any, testing is being done to assure that the
drugs themselves are safe for human consumption. The risks of GE unknowns, far...

Any severe environmental stress such as drought and global warming can trigger
unpredictable changes to engineered crops. It is this combination of
unpredictability and ignorance that led Dr. Barry Commoner, one of our nation s
most eminent biologists, to conclude: The genetically engineered crops now being
grown represent a massive uncontrolled experiment whose outcome is inherently
unpredictable. The results could be catastrophic. (Commoner) Allergies are often
overlooked, especially when weighed against the potential benefits of a new drug.
Yet they affect a large number of people (about 2.5% of American adults and 6 8%
of children, or 8 million in the U.S.), and the incidence of allergies has been rising
in recent years for unknown reasons. Reactions are not limited to watery eyes; some
experience intense itching and welts, others life threatening anaphylactic shock,
which kills an estimated 150 Americans each year. If a plant grown drug with
allergenic properties were to contaminate the food supply, unsuspecting individuals
prone to allergies would be unable to take any action to avoid consuming the
contaminated food, with potentially fatal consequences. People susceptible to food
allergies, without proper labeling have no knowledge of what they are actually
consuming; therefore, they could possibly be endangering their lives by eating foods
that they are highly allergic to. The Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (1966),

A Story From A Old Wedding Gown
After trying on a mysterious old wedding gown, a spirited, but insecure dressmaker
is transported to 1935 Wales, where she becomes the dressmaker for her great
grandmother, and now she must find her way back home.
STORY COMMENTS
MAGICALLY WED offers a delightful fantasy. The concept is solid. The script
presents as a fun and classic fish out of water and coming of age story.
The idea of an insecure, but hopeful wedding dress designer from the present being
transported back in time to 1935 to become a dressmaker s assistant to her own great
grandmother is a creative and imaginative idea.
The plot is driven by strong themes about finding one s voice and believing in one s
self. It s also about connecting, reconnecting, and family values.
One of the highlights is the very likable protagonist, Ava. She s the type of character
that s easy to like and effortlessly root for. Through the course of her personal
journey, she learns to grow up and transforms into a mature woman. She also finds
her own voice.
Ava is driven by her deep inner conflict to belong to a loving family.
While there s a lot to adore about this fun script, overall, the script would benefit
from more development, especially in the areas of structure, some plot choices, and
dialogue.
First, the script has an identified three act structure. The first act sets up Ava s
ordinary world. Her aunt belittles her and she doesn t have the confidence to stand
up for herself. She has a dream and goal of going to a

Causes Of Sea Level
Daniel Linklater
Sea level rise.
Global sea level rise is potentially one of the biggest problems that the human race
will face in the foreseeable future. Significant rise in sea level could be disastrous for
low lying coastal areas in New Zealand and all across the globe as people s homes
and livelihoods would be destroyed. There are two main factors that cause global sea
level rise, they are: Thermal expansion of the ocean and melting of ice on land such
as glaciers and ice sheets in polar regions. Both of these major causes are driven by
climate change (warming in particular)2.
So far, the large majority of sea level rise has been caused by thermal expansion of
the ocean. The Earth is warming up due to the warming effect of greenhouse
gasses in the atmosphere and more than 90% of the increased atmospheric heat is
being absorbed by the ocean surface1. The ocean is getting warmer and as it
warms, its density decreases but its mass stays relatively constant, therefore the
volume increases and the sea level rises. The ocean s density decreases when it
gets warmer because the particles gain more energy so they move faster, pushing
other particles away, there is more space between particles so density is decreased
and volume is increased3. Global sea level is currently rising at a rate of 3.2mm per
year1, mostly due to thermal expansion.
Sea level rise can also be caused by melting of land based ice. Over the last century
there has been an unprecedented increase in global
Staten Island Yankees Marketing Strategy
Jpz777 03/17/2013 Order # A2088550 Introduction Having been tasked with
developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and promotional
strategy for the Staten Island Yankees, the Class A short season affiliate of Major
League Baseball s famed New York Yankees, the first priority would be to conduct
a thorough appraisal of the organization s current situation. Playing within the
confines Richmond County Bank Ballpark, a 7,171 seat waterfront stadium on the
northernmost tip of Staten Island, the team recorded a total attendance figure of
192,568 in the 2011 season. This figure means the average Staten Island Yankees
game drew only 5,663 fans, or just 79% of the ballpark s capacity, which is
unacceptable to say the least. Last season was even more disappointing in terms of
local support for the team, and as the Staten Island Advance recently reported
Staten Island has seen an estimated 30 percent drop in reported attendance from a
year ago, dipping to 3,934 fans per game through the first 22 home contests
compared to 5,663 per game during the 2011 season (Waggoner, 2012). After a 30
45 finish in last year s regular season, in conjunction with the MLB Yankees roster
deterioration over the last offseason, it is reasonable to expect a decrease in
attendance similar to the 30 per cent loss seen last year unless a concerted effort is
made to revitalize fan support and rebuild the Staten Island Yankees brand. The
following sales and promotional strategy report will
As A Classroom Teacher, How Can You Learn About Your...
As a classroom teacher, how can you learn about your culture and your students
cultures and communities?
Some of the most successful methods used by teachers, even the federal government,
to learn about culture are by letting each student share their culture through food and
explain the history behind their dish. Simply, by appealing to the students to
converse about or share dishes distinctively in their ethnicity, allows the student to
show family values, environment of home, family dynamics and social skills. The
principal way to bring about such a task is, have a cultural food fair. Asking each
student to prepare a preferred dish and assemble information about the preparation

What are common misconceptions about teaching children who are English language

According to the reading of the textbook and general information about the
misconceptions of English learning and teaching is, teachers in conventional

logistics that are required to render a minimal level of care. That experience is
different from working as a medic in the military, because we have not just provided

on how we could properly educate the locals on the importance of hygiene and

My Reflection Of Me
I don t know about you, but I don t often star at myself in the mirror, studying my
own face. Does anybody? The longest amount of time I spend looking at myself is
when I m shaving, and even then, I m just concentrating on not being a klutz and
cutting myself open. I m not being down on myself or looking for attention or any
such nonsense like that. I mean, I don t even have a Facebook. It s just that, gazing
upon my reflectionis just not something I do. I get out of the shower, I shave, brush
my teeth, and I m gone, on to whatever the day has in store for me. Another thing I m
not used to is the clarity of the face.
I should back up a moment, so you understand. I have, for the better part of a month,
been having a recurring dream that unsettles me. In it, I am staring at myself in a
mirror and it is devoid of the dream quality one expects from the images in their
brain. In dreams, whenever I see someone who is supposed to be me or someone I
have known for years, the face is different, sometimes subtly, other times it is
completely different. But in this mirror, in this reflection that comes through in
my reverie, it is my face, perfectly so, no blur or changes or oddly shaped parts. The
eyes are the same dull blue that they ve always been, my nose, slightly long but not
weirdly so, although there is a curve at the bridge where I broke it falling from my
bike when I was twelve. My ears are normal looking, my eyebrows a tad bushy but
otherwise fine with no unibrow,
The History of Cell Theory
The History of Cell Theory
As we all probably know today, every single living being is made up by cells В– the
building blocks of life. As much as we would like to take this fact for granted, we
cannot help but acknowledge and remember the works and discoveries of earlier
scientists which all contributed to our today s understanding of the cell theory. The
cell theory being; all living things are composed of one or more cells, cells are
organisms basic units of structure and function, and cells only come from existing
cells. Their discoveries lead to the development of inventions necessary to induce

Theodor Schwann
Theodor Schwann was a German physiologist who defined the cell as the basic
unit of animal structure. He discovered what are today known as the Schwann
cells and made important discoveries from observing that an egg is a single cell
that would develop into a complete organism. He was therefore able to conclude
that in addition to Schleiden s theory, animals were also made up of cells and
consequently all living things would be made of cells. He was one of the main
developers of the cell theory and also discovered that membranes, nuclei, and cell
bodies were common in cells and learned to compare them in between animal and
plant tissues. This all aided the development of the cell theory because this is one of
the final steps to the main ideology that all living things are made up of cells.
Rudolf Virchow
Rudolf Virchow was a Prussian scientist who contributed greatly to the cell theory,
stating that cells arose from each other and this was how many diseases were
spread. This leads to the development of the cell theory in the way that one of the
main ideologies of the cell theory is the fact that cells only come from existing cells.

In 1937, Japan invaded North China and in response, the United States imposed hefty trade sanctions and eventually an embargo with the intent to restrain Japan s aggression in China (Feis, 1971). Then in January 1941, Admiral Yamamoto began communicating with other Japanese officials about planning an attack against the United States Pacific Fleet housed at Pearl Harbor. That same month, Joseph C. Grew, the United States Ambassador to Japan, sent word via wire to Washington stating that he learned Japan was planning a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. All senior officials in Washington disregard the information due to disbelief, and figured a Japanese offensive in the Philippines was more likely. In February 1941, Admiral Husband E. Although it is true that society has stereotyped women into traditional roles, this preconceived notion, is totally false. Action to promote the concept of equality in our society needs to be taken. Women have been fighting for equality for many decades. As a result of this battle, some amazing transformations have taken place amongst the female gender. Women have become educated and over the last few decades have started to take active roles and their rightful place in society. Today s women joining the Canadian Armed Forces are equally eligible with men for combat roles. Over 229,000 women serve on active duty in the military services of the Department of Defense. This monumental step allows women to become takers, as well as producers of life. Women now have equal rights and responsibilities in the defense of our country. These advances have been made, not only on the ground but in the air as well. In 1988, Deanna Brasseur became Canada s first female fighter pilot. That same year, the defense department appointed their first female general, Sheila Hellstrom. The department also stated that women often do better at riflery than men due to the fact that they listen to instruction while men tend to think they know it all. A maleveteran sergeant, proud of his work with female recruits, says that: Today s women won t find anything that hard to adjust to in the military. The facts are telling a tale. Many doors are opening for women and they are barreling through with boundless energy and determination. The 21st century is here and the traditional role of the stay at home mother is all but disappeared. Marriage and children are still signs of the successful women, however women are less willing to accept exclusive roles of housewife and mother. More and more women are entering the labor market as education has

This is a claim most of its victims would agree with, especially Esther Greenwood. The Bell Jar, written by the Sylvia Plath, follows Esther Greenwood s descent into and recovery from madness. Esther is a young and brilliant writer, whose ambitions are stunted by a crippling depression. Realists, who believe individuals are selfish and power seeking, think the world is a self help system where states view each other as adversaries. The article America First Doesn t Mean America Alone, written by H.R. McMaster and Gary D. Cohn, portrays President Donald John Trump as a realist who views the world as an international arena where states and individuals compete to enhance security in a balance of power system. Trump s America first policy practices realism that increases military power and intensifies the United States control over countries such as paper. In this paper, I will demonstrate how depending on realism alone is dangerous and problematic for the United States when it comes to environmentalism such as Paris Accord and trade agreement such as Trans Pacific Partnership. During one of Trump s speeches in January, the American president strongly affirmed advocation to the America first foreign policy (Calamur). In other words, the president is focusing its foreign policy based on its national interest strengthening America s economic prosperity, standing against inequitable trade practices, and building strong alliances with economically thriving partners and national security. To eliminate ISIS and other radical Islamic terror groups, the Trump Administration is not only cooperating with international partners to engage in cyberwarfare...and disable propaganda and recruiting , but also rebuilding the American military ( America First Foreign Policy ). Trump believes that terrorist groups have been using the internet as their key recruitment tool and thus, his administration will be cutting off militant propaganda on the internet. Additionally, the president is trying to reverse the trend of the United States Navy (USN) since the Navy shrunk from over 500 ships to 275 from 1991 to 2016 ( Beckwith ). Considering the fact that the United States is militarily strong, the Trump Administration is acting based on its national interest through involvement in cyberwarfare and an increase in military power. Aside from increasing the Navy s power, Trump is also aiming

Found throughout Shakespeare s tragedy are many religious references. According to Peter Milward, the author of Shakespeare s Christianity: The Protestant and Catholic Poetics of Julius Caesar, Macbeth, and Hamlet, From a purely religious point of view, which is more than just biblical, Hamlet is rich in homiletic material of all kinds, reflecting almost every aspect of the religious situation in a deeply religious age (Milward 9). These pieces of religious literature are crucial to the plot of Hamlet. The religious elements found in this tragedy provide the plot, allusions, and foreshadowing. One of the very first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the idea of purgatory, there is an allusion to the Garden of Eden in Hamlet. During Hamlet s first soliloquy he says Denmark, tis an unweeded garden (Shakespeare 1.2.135). The audience probably would not think anything of this; however, once the play gets to scene five of act one it brings into question what garden Hamlet and the Ghost are talking about. In this scene the Ghost is telling Hamlet how King Claudius killed him. The Ghost says, sleeping in my orchard, / A serpent stung me (Shakespeare 1.5.35 36). According to Michael Ferber, the author of A Dictionary of Literary Symbols, a serpent can symbolize the devil, and an orchard is also known as a garden (Ferber 186, 83). Knowing these two pieces of information found in Hamlet the audience is now able to infer that the garden being alluded to is the Garden of Eden. According to the New Living Translation Bible, the Garden of Eden is considered the fall of man. This is where Eve was convinced by the Devil to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve then convinced Adam to eat from the tree, which was considered the first sin (Gen. 2 3). Shakespeare was wise in choosing this biblical allusion because at this point of the tragedy the audience learns about the first sin of King Claudius. If Shakespeare had not used this biblical allusion in Hamlet the audience would have lost the importance of this being the first sin

Its basic premise is that the world as we know it is fake; it is a computer simulated dreamworld , mimicking our own world of the late 90s, called the Matrix. In charge of the Matrix itself is a seemingly malevolent sentient machine species. Even worse, the sole purpose of this simulation is to control humanity, which has been enslaved inside the simulation for several hundreds of years. It was a matter of survival for the Machines, as the humans in the days before the Matrixattempted to destroy the Machines by blocking their power source the sun. So, in order for their species to continue living humanity was enslaved within the Matrixand their bioelectric energies were harvested and used to power the Machine civilization. Clearly if Karl Marx heard this story he would fall in love with it, assuming that he could stomach both the violence in the movie and Keanu Reeves acting*. Many aspects of the plot of The Matrix have clear correspondence to elements of Marx s Social Conflict theory. The Bourgeoisie, or the elite, are the wealthy people, the business owners, and the politicians. They are the people in charge. This elite class controls the Proletariat. Scott Fitzgerald, is a novel about one man s disenchantment with the American dream. In the story we get a glimpse into the life of Jay Gatsby, a man who aspired to achieve a position among the American rich to win the heart of his true love, Daisy Fay. Gatsby s downfall was in the fact that he was unable to determine that concealed boundary between reality and illusion in his life. The Buchanans represent cowardice, corruption, and the demise of Gatsby s dream. Gatsby, unlike Fitzgerald himself, never discovers how he has been betrayed by the class he has idealized for so long. For Gatsby, the failure of the rich has disastrous consequences. Gatsby s desire to achieve his dream leads him to West Egg Island. He purchased a mansion across the bay from Daisy s home. There is a green light at the end of Daisy s dock that is visible at night from the windows and lawn of Gatsby s house. This green light is one of the central symbols of the novel. In chapter one, Nick observes Gatsby in the dark as he looks longingly across the bay with arms stretched outward toward the green light. It becomes apparent, as the story progresses that the whole being of Gatsby exists only in relation to what the green light symbolizes This first sight, that we have of Gatsby, is a ritualistic tableau that literally contains the meaning of the completed book (Bewley 41). A broader definition of the green light s significance is revealed in Chapter 5, as Gatsby and Daisy stand at one of the windows in his mansion. If it wasn t for the mist we could see your home across the bay, said Gatsby. You always have a green light that burns all night at the end of your dock. Daisy put her arm through his abruptly, but he seemed absorbed in what he had just said. Possibly it had occurred to him that the colossal significance of that light had vanished

  • 47. Causes Of Sea Level Daniel Linklater Sea level rise. Global sea level rise is potentially one of the biggest problems that the human race will face in the foreseeable future. Significant rise in sea level could be disastrous for low lying coastal areas in New Zealand and all across the globe as people s homes and livelihoods would be destroyed. There are two main factors that cause global sea level rise, they are: Thermal expansion of the ocean and melting of ice on land such as glaciers and ice sheets in polar regions. Both of these major causes are driven by climate change (warming in particular)2. So far, the large majority of sea level rise has been caused by thermal expansion of the ocean. The Earth is warming up due to the warming effect of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere and more than 90% of the increased atmospheric heat is being absorbed by the ocean surface1. The ocean is getting warmer and as it warms, its density decreases but its mass stays relatively constant, therefore the volume increases and the sea level rises. The ocean s density decreases when it gets warmer because the particles gain more energy so they move faster, pushing other particles away, there is more space between particles so density is decreased and volume is increased3. Global sea level is currently rising at a rate of 3.2mm per year1, mostly due to thermal expansion. Sea level rise can also be caused by melting of land based ice. Over the last century there has been an unprecedented increase in global

Staten Island Yankees Marketing Strategy Jpz777 03/17/2013 Order # A2088550 Introduction Having been tasked with developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and promotional strategy for the Staten Island Yankees, the Class A short season affiliate of Major League Baseball s famed New York Yankees, the first priority would be to conduct a thorough appraisal of the organization s current situation. Playing within the confines Richmond County Bank Ballpark, a 7,171 seat waterfront stadium on the northernmost tip of Staten Island, the team recorded a total attendance figure of 192,568 in the 2011 season. This figure means the average Staten Island Yankees game drew only 5,663 fans, or just 79% of the ballpark s capacity, which is unacceptable to say the least. Last season was even more disappointing in terms of local support for the team, and as the Staten Island Advance recently reported Staten Island has seen an estimated 30 percent drop in reported attendance from a year ago, dipping to 3,934 fans per game through the first 22 home contests compared to 5,663 per game during the 2011 season (Waggoner, 2012). After a 30 45 finish in last year s regular season, in conjunction with the MLB Yankees roster deterioration over the last offseason, it is reasonable to expect a decrease in attendance similar to the 30 per cent loss seen last year unless a concerted effort is made to revitalize fan support and rebuild the Staten Island Yankees brand. The following sales and promotional strategy report will

Being an osteopathic physician means that I would use the skill that were thought to me in medical school in order to influence the body natural healing process. The most recent medical trip sponsored by the Heart in Hand organization was a scheduled three weeks in Haiti, in which we provide basic medical care and education to the underserved communities of Cotes de Fer and Petit Goave. The experience was eye opening in the sense that it helps me understand some of the logistics that are required to render a minimal level of care. That experience is different from working as a medic in the military, because we have not just provided care, but were involved with the local population daily routine. This gives us insight on how we could properly educate the locals on the importance of hygiene and disease prevention. As a medic for the U.S Air Force, our patient trends were somewhat predictable and the supplies were to the very least adequate. During the trips in Haiti, there were plenty of patients, but limited amount of

The longest amount of time I spend looking at myself is when I m shaving, and even then, I m just concentrating on not being a klutz and cutting myself open. I m not being down on myself or looking for attention or any such nonsense like that. I mean, I don t even have a Facebook. It s just that, gazing upon my reflectionis just not something I do. I get out of the shower, I shave, brush my teeth, and I m gone, on to whatever the day has in store for me. Another thing I m not used to is the clarity of the face. I should back up a moment, so you understand. I have, for the better part of a month, been having a recurring dream that unsettles me. In it, I am staring at myself in a mirror and it is devoid of the dream quality one expects from the images in their brain. In dreams, whenever I see someone who is supposed to be me or someone I have known for years, the face is different, sometimes subtly, other times it is completely different. But in this mirror, in this reflection that comes through in my reverie, it is my face, perfectly so, no blur or changes or oddly shaped parts. The eyes are the same dull blue that they ve always been, my nose, slightly long but not weirdly so, although there is a curve at the bridge where I broke it falling from my bike when I was twelve. My ears are normal looking, my eyebrows a tad bushy but otherwise fine with no unibrow,

As much as we would like to take this fact for granted, we cannot help but acknowledge and remember the works and discoveries of earlier scientists which all contributed to our today s understanding of the cell theory. The cell theory being; all living things are composed of one or more cells, cells are organisms basic units of structure and function, and cells only come from existing cells. Theodor Schwann Theodor Schwann was a German physiologist who defined the cell as the basic unit of animal structure. He discovered what are today known as the Schwann cells and made important discoveries from observing that an egg is a single cell that would develop into a complete organism. He was therefore able to conclude that in addition to Schleiden s theory, animals were also made up of cells and consequently all living things would be made of cells. He was one of the main developers of the cell theory and also discovered that membranes, nuclei, and cell bodies were common in cells and learned to compare them in between animal and plant tissues. This all aided the development of the cell theory because this is one of the final steps to the main ideology that all living things are made up of cells. Rudolf Virchow Rudolf Virchow was a Prussian scientist who contributed greatly to the cell theory, stating that cells arose from each other and this was how many diseases were spread. This leads to the development of the cell theory in the way that one of the main ideologies of the cell theory is the fact that cells only come from existing cells. Homo Faber The development of the cell theory, and the people who helped to do so relates to the Area of Interaction of Homo Faber because only with the demand and need of further research and studying, would
