Part One of Red Rose and Pink Lips
Part One Of Red Roses and Pink Lips Taeyeon sunk herself into the waiting chair as she waited
for her turn to get styled. They had another photo shoot for Elle today, but somehow things
moved slower this time. There were no warm touches or cute giggles distracting her from all the
waiting. All she was left with was a makeup artist with a face too smug and unfriendly touches as
she played with the soft features of Taeyeon s skin, dabbing on the foundation a bit too roughly.
She was left alone with two other loud members in the dressing room, taking selcas of
themselves, probably to be posted online. Taeyeon resisted the urge to roll her eyes, not wanting
to ruin her eye makeup. If Tiffany was here, she would probably be taking selcas too, she
thought. Tiffany is always taking selcas. Either using her own phone or Taeyeon s. A soft smile
quickly crept up at the curves of her lips as she unlocked her phone, laughing at the display
picture. It was a cross eyed picture of a pre debut Stephanie. Tiffany has beaten her over
countless times to take down the picture, but it was too precious. Her mischievous smile quickly
turned into a bashful one as she remembered Tiffany straddling her, revealing too much of her
skin as she innocently tickled Taeyeon. Kim Taeyeon, the photographer s waiting for your close

The Habeas Corpus Law in the US
Habeas Corpus U.S.
Introduction
Many may not know this but following his inauguration, President Obama did put in some orders
to basically just shut down the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay within one year. However, about
two years later, nevertheless, Obama s plan to close Guantanamo is in disasters. In excess of 180
prisoners that still remain at Guantanamo, and new legislation is making it tremendously
problematic to transfer extra prisoners from the naval base. Defense Secretary Robert Gates lately
named the forecasts for conclusion very, very low, and the management is trying to press forward
with new military command trials that are at the base. In a lot of different ways, the United States is
actually further from closing Guantanamo now than it was after Obama s inauguration.
However, if we go back to the Bush years, we will discover that actually right after the U.S.
attack of Afghanistan in 2001, the Bush administration had started developing a plan for holding
and questioning apprehended prisoners. Most of these prisoners were then sent to a prison that
was inside a U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, which happened to be on land that had been
rented from the supervision of Cuba. Ever since 2002, over 800 men were held as prisoners at
GITMO. A Most have been let go deprived of charges or revolved to other administrations. In 2011,
Congress exactly forbade the spending of reserves to transfer GITMO detainees to imprisonment

How Does Television Shows Reflect American Culture
Does Television Shows Reflect American Culture?
There are many movies and television shows that reflect American culture. A show or movie must
address some current societal problem or trend in order to truly reflect American life; murder, rape,
racism, and, on a less serious note, parties, shopping, and sports are topics that deserve serious
consideration by the public and the media. The show Beverly Hills 90210 attempts to be an
accurate portrayal of the life of a typical well off American teenager growing up in the 80 s and 90
s. The producers of the show attempt to integrate many real life situations in to the show. By doing
this they are suggesting to the audience, which happens to be geared toward ... Show more content

Another incident of tragedy occurred a couple seasons ago. A bullet intended for Dylan gunned
down Dylan s girlfriend, whose father was an organized crime figure of some kind. Ironically,
her very own father hired the hit man. Not many parents go out and hire people to kill their
children s boyfriends or girlfriends. However, in this circumstance there was a history between
Dylan and her father. Her father had killed Dylan s father before they d meet. Dylan was
attempting to get revenge for his father s murder. In the meantime, Dylan has fallen in love with his
daughter. The two lovers had just married and planned on a happy life when tragedy struck. In
many ways, this incident portrays the negative images that organized crime reflects on the
American culture. Although organized crime rings are decreasing, the problem of organized crime
is still a detriment to American society. The producers are doing a good deed in showing this
because it sends a message to teens; hopefully, they will want to become productive members of
society and will not want to get involved with the harmful aspects of the American culture.
The show also deals with the topic of suicide. One of the characters on the show, Valerie, moved to
California after her father killed himself because she could not stand to be in the house where such
a horrible thing had happened. Valerie did not speak of the incident very frequently, but she was
obviously disturbed about

Obstacles In The Classroom
The numbers are not accurate because once everyone left the classroom with their tubes, each
tube was introduced to different variables. Each student did not treat the tube exactly the same
which resulted on data that is not accurate. There was also a flaw in the extraction method. When
the curds and whey was being extracted from their tubes, There was a lot of curds stuck in both
the Rennilase sample tubes and the Lactobacillus sample tubes. This resulted in lost data and the
final amount of curds not being accurate. Whey was also still on each of the cheese filters which
is also lost data. The curdling time for enzyme was relatively faster versus the curdling time for
bacteria. Table 1 (page 7) shows the amount of curdling relative to

Argumentative Essay On Immigration And Crime
In his acceptance speech, Donald Trump mentioned his opinion on immigrants. He said, They are
being released by the tens of thousands into our communities with no regard for the impact on
public safety or resources...We are going to build a great border wall to stop illegal immigration, to
stop the gangs and the violence, and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities.
However, this is not true. Immigrants are coming to the United States for many reasons other than to
cause crime or violence. In fact, most immigrants come to the United States to escape dangerous
situations, to have a better life, and to work.
Therefore, immigrants are not coming to the United States and bringing crime and violence. They

However this is not true and should not be how immigrants are viewed.
Statistics show that native born people are more likely to commit a serious crime or be incarcerated
than an immigrant. Tolerance.org states that, Statistics show that immigrants are less likely to
commit serious crimes or be behind bars than native born people are, and high rates of immigration
are associated with lower rates of violent crime and property crime (tolerance.org).
This quote proves that immigrants are not the reason we have so much crime and violence. The
quote goes on to say that high rates of immigration have an effect on lower rates of crime and
violence, it is basically saying that the more immigrants that come to America, the less crime and
violence
A fact that further proves that immigrants are not bringing crime and violence is that states that
have the most immigration rates have the least amount of crime.

Cooking Is The Art And Science Of Cooking
Introduction:
Cooking is the art and science of preparing food for eating by the application of heat . It includes
full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats,
fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning
meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast
killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the
customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole
culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France
began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard
procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat
liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made
culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during
Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient
forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks ... Show more content on

San Antonio Road Research Paper
Anyone who has driven on a San Antonio road knows how unpredictable drivers can be. The
Impatients, and aggravation sometimes get the best of a driver. For a San Antonio police officer
accidents are nothing short of ordinary. There are however a small few that stand out above the
others. This hot Saturday in July was busier than usual. With months without rain, the roads were
extremely dry. The day was relatively busy, but there were no major incidents. That is until four o
clock when calls started flowing in for a major accident. Officers thought it couldn t have been
anything too massive considering the light trafficand ideal roadconditions. This accident however
was far from normal. This strange wreck was something you would only see in the movies. The
roads were unusually busy for a hot Saturday afternoon. Gina was helping her daughter move into

smoke from the burning car made it hard to see. Beyond the black smoke was the smell of iron

hanging car to get the bloodied driver out. Meanwhile other officers and firefighters were
working on the car the violently flipped off the overpass. Car was engulfed in flames. The
inferno could almost burn people by looking at it. Firefighters frantically pulled both occupants
out of the car before they suffered from any major burns. Firefighters began a severe battle with
the fire. Hundreds of gallons of water were blasted out of the fire hoses, making a misty show that
left the roads flooded. Once the dust settled and both fires were under control, road workers began

The Main Influences On Gestalt Psychology
d reflection on the main influences on Gestalt psychology and how they contributed to its
development.
Since being discovered, gestalt psychology created vital contributions to the psychology of thinking
and problem solving influenced by thinkers, including, Immanuel Kant, Ernst Mach and Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe. This paper will reflect on the main influences on Gestalt psychology, their
contributions, and the principles of perceptual organization. According to the Merriam Webster, the
definition of gestalt psychology is: the study of perception and behavior from the standpoint of an
individual s response to configurational wholes with stress on the uniformity of psychological and
physiological events and rejection of analysis into discrete events of stimulus, percept, and response
One of the main influences on Gestalt psychology
, and their ideas influenced the later development of cognitive psychology.
The gestaltists argued that understanding mind and behavior could not be achieved by trying to
dissect conscious experience into its sensory elements, or by reducing complex behavior to
elementary stimulus response units. Rather, their emphasis was on phenomenologically whole
experiences, and before long their movement came to be identified with this catch phrase: The
whole of an experience is greater than the sum of its individual parts.
Three german gestalt pioneers emigrated from Europe to the US, Max Wertheimer, Kurt Koffka,
and Wolfgang Hohler.

Social Policy And The Access Of The Judiciary System
What is Social Policy and the link to the Judiciary system
Social policy aims to improve human welfare and to meet human needs. Important areas of
social policy are wellbeing and welfare, unemployment insurance, pensions, the NHS, social
housing, family policy, social care, child protection, crime and criminal justice and labour issues.
It was said problems of children who were deprived or abused have been connected closely with
issues concerning young offenders (Spicker.uk, 2015).This statement involves various roles from
professionals in the judiciary system. Under the Children s Act 1998 the local authority s
functions where to provide services which support children and their families (Anon, 2015).
Social workers would have had involvement during the individual s young life and have already
taken action in order to prevent the abuse therefore preventing young offenders. In turn victim
support would support the individual if they are required in a court setting; they will advise if they
are feeling worried, nervous or afraid. If an individual becomes a young offender the Youth
offending teams within the court support them by; staying in touch with a young person if they re
sentenced in custody, charged with a crime and has to go to court or if a young person is arrested.
The youth offending team work closely with the probation services (Gov.uk, 2015).

Kenyan Culture Vs American Culture
Going outside of one s own culture can be very eye opening to a person. Although it is sometimes
difficult to see through the perspective of someone else, it is vital in being able to communicate
with people around the world. I have taken two mission trips to Kenya, Africa during the summer
with my church group. Because of this trip, I became more aware of the differences there were in
cultureand just how many cultures I was missing out on. I believe that all cultures should become
more aware of at least one other culture to compare and contrast the two because each culture could
learn something from another. I have found the most important characteristics of this culture and
would like to share the interests that this culture has brought to my attention.
Good Leadership One of the things that the Kenyan culture values is good leadership among their
people. Leadership is an important role because the people in charge are the ones who come up
with the decisions for all their people. Kenya does not have the type of government that the United
States has so they tend to make their own rules when it comes to their culture groups. There are
many characteristics that are involved with being a leader such as social class, age, and how they
would be able to handle hard times, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People often view Africa as a place to hunt for big, wild animals in their natural habitats. Although
this is a common hobby for people to do in Kenya, it is not seen as such to the natives. They
believe that their animals are prized possessions, whether that be a family trading goats and
sheep, or leaving the wild animals alone in their homes. Zebras, for example, walk around in
Kenya as much as cows walk around in open fields in the United States. So it is a weird concept for
the Kenyan people to see foreigners coming to kill those animals for

Analysis Of The Movie Happy Days
When I was eighteen years old, I embarked on an adventure to get back home to Anaheim from a
trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee. My ride fell through, as did my plans. On my journey toward
home I went to Bourbon Street in New Orleans in the hope that I might be able to work with a
ministry there on that notorious street. We went out on the street after work and would stop
strangers to talk with them. We d offer to pray for them or offer help for more immediate needs
such as food or a place to stay. What an eye opening experience that was for me. Picture Richie
Cunningham (Ron Howard) of Happy Days. That was me naГЇve to so much of what I was
exposed to over those few weeks in 1972. Walking up and down the street, going back and forth
to work and walking back to my room at the YMCA, I would see people in all kinds of
conditions. Some were partying, some were prostitutes, and some were looking for any kind of
fun. Almost anything was for sale drugs, alcohol, sex of various kinds. I was barely making
enough money to keep myself fed and still save money for a flight home. I was young and
believed that God could do anything. I was dangerous and didn t know it. There were posters and
billboards of sexy women, barely dressed in an attempt to entice the men to stop in, have a few
drinks, and watch the girls dance. As I walked home each night I kept noticing the picture of one
particular girl. Among the hundreds of banners, the one with her picture stood out to me. I prayed

When I used to drink milkshakes at Burger King as a kid, I thought they were normal milkshakes
made with the basic ingredients; milk, ice cream, and strawberries. I never would have thought,
especially as a kid, that this wasn t the case. I never thought that instead, Burger King would be
using 59 different kinds of acetates, acids, and oils for their milkshakes. When I was a kid, I
loved drinking these milkshakes from McDonalds, Burger King, and other fast food restaurants,
but today, I refuse to drink a milkshake from any of these places because now I know the actual
ingredients that are going into the milkshake. Using artificial flavors and coloring may make

The Russian Transitional Economy Essay
SBEJ review paper Comments to the Author The paper tackles an important and interesting topic
such as Barriers to Entrepreneurship. The context of investigation in the Russian transitional
economy adds value to the paper too. However, here are some of the major comments 1.The
original element of the paper is use of use of Double Bind Situation (DBS) theory to explain the
entrepreneurial behavior in an extreme environment of transition. In particular, the paper does
greater in terms of addressing the interactions of entrepreneurs and state individuals using DBST.
Use of this theory to explain entrepreneurial behavior is important contribution to the field. 2.The
review of entrepreneurship literature dealing with barriers is very brief. Author(s) should discuss
more critically this literature by pointing some limitations. For example, paper argues that several
authors have conceived of barriers as static while there is no discussion of some recent studies that
use panel data technique, add dynamic component in their analysis, and of course overcome some
of limitations of previous cross sectional studies. The studies, analysis in the theoretical part are
based on the cross sectional. 3.Data and method needs some more careful details and discussion.
First, there is no clear discussion how the sample of qualitative interviews was selected. This is very
critical for implications of the study and its limitations. 4.Author(s) claim that businesses for the

Conservation of Momentum Practical Write Up
CONSERVATION OF MOMENTUM PRACTICAL WRITE UP
AIM: To investigate if momentum is conserved in two dimensional interactions within an isolated
system.
HYPOTHESIS: Without the effects of friction the momentum will be conserved in the isolated
system. In all three experiments the momentum before the interaction will equal the momentum
after the interaction.
METHOD: An air hockey table was set up and a video camera on a tripod was placed over the air
hockey table. The camera was positioned so it was directly above the air hockey table facing
downwards. The air hockey table was turned on and two near identical pucks were placed on the
table, one at one end of the table and one in the centre. The puck at the end of the table was

This would have created friction which is regarded as an external force; therefore the pucks were
no longer in an isolated system. Another random error occurred in the first experiment where the
red puck was initially held down to prevent it from moving and released when the black puck
collided with it. Due to the person s reaction time, holding it in place may have interfered with the
collision as it was an external force and this may have impacted upon the results.
Several systematic occurred in this experiment, but the most important one would have been the
fact that the air hockey table was not completely level. This impacted upon the experiment in two
ways. In the first experiment where the red puck is initially stationary, as the table was not level it
moved around before the black puck collided with it. To overcome this the red puck had to be held
in place and as mentioned before this would have provided and external force acting upon the puck.
The unevenness of the air hockey table also meant that there was a possibility of friction acting on
the pucks while they were moving. In the third collision with the Velcro another systematic error
occurred. When the two pucks collided and stuck together they did not continue straight, instead
they rotated. This is not linear momentum but rather it is angular momentum. This is reflected in
the results as the magnitude of the initial and final momentum of the system is equal, but the

Using A Six Sigma Dmaic Problem Solving Methodology Essay
This case study deals with improving the process and efficiency of the operating room in a
hospital. The problem was resolved using a Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving methodology.
The basic equation of Six Sigma, Y = f(x), defines the relationship between a dependent variable Y
or the outcome of a process and a set of independent variables x or possible causes which affect the
outcome.
The Company Over the past decade, surgical services have increased dramatically. This is
extremely important to hospitals since surgical services make up forty percent or more of the
overall hospital revenue. With advancements in technology, some hospitals are offering digital
operating rooms, robotic assistance and telesurgery. Even with these advancements, hospitals are
having difficulty ensuring patient safety, streamlining workflow and cutting cost. In the U.S., the
average operating room operates at sixty eight percent capacity. If a hospital could increase its
surgical schedule by one additional surgical case per day, it could generate an additional $4 to $7
million in annual revenue. One of the biggest concerns for a hospital is timeliness since delays and
postponement of surgeries can create a bottleneck in the system resulting in patient dissatisfaction.
The hospital has decided to use Six Sigma since it is the best strategy to address the issues in the
operating room.

Lead Poisoning in Children
While the prevalence of lead poisoning in children is decreasing in the United States, screening
of lead levels remains an important task of the pediatric primary care provider. Risk factors for
lead poisoning and its toxic effects include children under six years (and especially those between
12 and 36 months), inner city children living in deteriorating housing, low income and middle
income children, and refugee and foster care children (Hurwitz Lee, 2013a). The importance of
this screening is underscored by the fact that children can be asymptomatic even with high blood
lead levels (BLL) and symptoms of lead toxicity can be non specific. Early diagnosis is crucial
because there are significant and permanent effects to almost all body systems with both toxic and
below toxic BLL, including neurologic (ranging from developmental delay and behavior problems
to encephalopathy), hematologic (anemia), renal (lead nephropathy), gastrointestinal (lead colic),
and endocrine (vitamin D deficiency) (Hurwitz Lee, 2013a). Laboratory evaluation of lead
poisoning in children will now be discussed. Because children with lead poisoning are usually
asymptomatic, diagnosis of lead toxicity is usually made during routine screening of blood lead
levels (BLL). The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends lead screening should be
performed at one and two years of age and more frequently if a risk assessment warrants (Hagan,
Shaw, Duncan, 2009). Lead poisoning is considered a BLL of

Huck changes a lot throughout the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He acts
differently at the end than he does in the beginning. He becomes more mature and gains valuable
life experience in his journey. There are many different signs in the book where he changes.
Huck s relationship with Jim changes dramatically throughout this book. At first he thinks he is
just a runaway slave. He plays tricks on him. He puts a snakeskin in his bed and he gets bit. He
feels bad for it. Then he plays another trick when a fog separates them. He tells Jim that it was all
a dream. Huck feels bad again and tells him the truth in under 15 minutes. Jim is sad that Huck

Stereotypes In The Violin
The Violin is a movie that begins how the movie ends, kind of like how Pulp Fiction a notorious

Like the movie Frida, it is about the famous Mexican woman painter that was fluent in Spanish,
but the movie was Hollywood washed out and was spoken in English for majority of the movie.
It was really hard to believe that these fluent Spanish speakers would rather speak English in a
movie about Mexican culture and art. With that being said, The Violin has more authenticity to
it just by simply having Latino characters that also speak Spanish, it gives that authenticity and
also makes the setting seem more real. It is a lot better when Latinos play Latino roles because
representation matters, if we have Anglo Saxon actors play Latino roles this is going to suppress
many young Latinos self worth. The self worth goes down because when they see an actor with
heavy European features playing a Latino character it breeds this self hate to a generation that
they wish that they had these features because that s what Hollywood deems as worthy . The
director hit the nail on the head with this movie and made it so authentic that I feel like this is
was a page ripped out of a history book. It really sparks a conversation to be started, and when a
director contributes positively to the conversation then they have done their job

Citizens develop this law to satisfy their wants and fears as individuals in the society as citizens
live by their common interest but this sense of fear as holds the society in place together.
Municipals law is about formulation, developing tools that have strength in numbers,
establishes that all of us work together. It is then defined how parts obey the whole, so the whole
can be possible. Without a superior authoritative, we fall into isolation because we need the
supreme who govern us of what is right and forbid what is wrong or Superior to the inferior,

not an agreement; it must establish the bases of authority. However, acting and free will
differentiate. We must not act but free will and opinion to say anything must be allowed. It is

Examples Of Racism In Remember The Titans
Remember the Titans
How does gerry overcome his own racism throughout the film Remember the Titans directed by
Boaz Yakin?
My essay is about the issue of racism, how it is still alive today and that it can be overcome.
Racism is a far reaching issue in almost all countries around the world. It can be found in wealthy
societies, poor societies, sports, politics,in friendship groups, in the workplace, schools in fact
every where. Even though we have had civil wars, world wars and acts of terrorism through history
and today, racism is very much alive. All though this is all sad it can be overcome and in Rember
the Titans it is.
In the beginning of the movie our character Gerry Bertier is a successful footballer and captain for
his team The Titans from TC Williams high school.
Gerry is a white middle class student who is moving through the end of boy hood in t manhood. He

Coming Of Age By Anne Moody
The famous leader Martin Luther King once said, Being a Negro in America means trying to
smile when you want to cry. It means trying to hold on to physical life amid psychological death.
It means the pain of watching your children grow up with clouds of inferiority in their mental
skies. It means having their legs off, and then being condemned for being a cripple. This quote
pretty much summed up the way in which African Americans felt during the 1960 s. They had
basically no meaning to life. They were irrelevant. Whites wanted no part in them. This was
especially the case in the state of Mississippi. Anne Moody, writer of the autobiography, Coming of
Age in Mississippi explains the importance of the civil rights movement in the state of Mississippi
and the influence it had on her life and her viewpoint.
Growing up as a poor African Americanin Mississippi was not always an easy, especially in the
1960 s. It was a time where everyone was segregated. Blacks and whites were treated completely
different. They weren t allowed to eat at the same restaurants, go into the same bathroom, or even
drink from the same water fountain. Anne Moody did just that. As just a young girl being raised
by extremely poor black family in the South, she personally experienced the difference between
the lives of blacks and whites. She was growing up in the middle of the civil rights movement,
where African American struggled everyday. At a very young age Moody became challenged by

Fast Foods And Fast Food Essay
Fast food is one of the easiest ways to get food and eat it in a hurry. More people have been
eating fast food rather than eating at home for years. The rate of fast food consumption has not
slowed in over fifteen years (North). Americans in today s society are busier than they have been.
With people being busy they cannot find an easy way to make dinner, so they go to fast food
restaurants to get food on the go. Many Americans also believe they are too busy to go shopping
for groceries. Being busy is not the only thing that makes people eat fast food on the go. Why are
numerous Americans eatingfast food and not homemade food? Fast food is convenient and cheap
for people who do not have time to cook or if they are too lazy. Advertisements encourage
Americans to eat fast food as well.
American lives have changed over the years, and eating habits have too. With people having
jobs with schedules they can barely work around, fast food is a must for them to get a meal in a
time crunch. More people prefer to get food on the go rather than take the time to make
homemade food. Home cooked meals are slowly dying due to people being busy and choosing to
eat fast food. More people today stop at fast food restaurants to get the food they can eat
anywhere if they are on the run. When people go out of town for the weekend, fast food is an
easy meal to eat in the car. Fast food is also an easy meal to eat while shopping in a hurry.

Challenges Facing New Markets, Multinational Corporations...
Introduction
When entering new markets, multinational corporations (MNCs) often form strategic alliances
with local companies. An alliance is where two or more organisations integrate to form a strategic,
business relationship (Finlay, 2000). The potential benefits of such alliances include access to
knowledge and resources, building a global network, market access, recognition and access to a
distribution network which can all provide MNCs with a competitive advantage in a foreign
market. However, MNCs also face many challenges when forming alliances in other countries
including loss of intellectual property, different expectations, various challenges of globalisation
(e.g. more stringent regulations being imposed on foreign firms), ethical and cultural considerations
and change management. This essay will focus on two of these challenges in depth change
management and cultural adaptation. However within these sections, certain other topics will also
be considered including leadership, innovation and diversity and globalisation. This essay will
critically discuss and analyse these challenges drawing on real world examples, academic theory
and additional research. It will also highlight and consider potential solutions to these challenges.
Change management
One challenge MNCs face when forming alliances in foreign countries is successfully managing the
organisational change necessary to integrate two businesses which may have different cultures,

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Lightships
Lightships are manned seamarks anchored at a specific point of a river, generally a shallow one.
Fixed into place by a mushroom shaped anchor, these small ships (rarely above 50 tons) would
initially use large lanterns affixed atop the main mast. Their main advantage is that they could be
placed in areas where it was impossible for lighthouses to act as efficient seamarks. Their main
disadvantage, especially the early ones, is that turbulent waters could slightly shift the anchor and
thus the ship s positioning (Talbot 1913, pp. 241 42). In the worst case scenario, the chains could
snap, leaving the ship in a dire position. However, introduced in the early 19th century were
numerous lighting inventions (Clarke 2016, pp. 14, 42) as well as mooring technologies using iron,
which could anchor a vessel 12 to 14 times the tonnage of the largest lightship (Clarke 2016, pp. 50
56), made them increasingly reliable over time. Ubiquitous to seafarers, their offshore position
meant that lightships were out of eyesight of the majority of the population, which explains why
they went largely unnoticed, even by most economists and historians including Coase, who studied
lighting services. Yet, lightships featured prominently in the frequently cited 1834 Report from the
Select Committee on Lighthouses. In fact, of the 55 lights in England, 13 were provided by
floating lights (House of Commons 1834, p. VI). As such, lightships were an important contributor
to lighting services. What

Analysis Of My Room Belongs To An Alien
Verbal Visual Essay Speak
My room belongs to an alien. (15)
This quote near the beginning of the book is in the context of Melinda describing her room. She
says this because of how it is decorated very strangely. The way she words her sentence implies
that she doesn t know who she was when she was younger, that she is alien . Because of this and
the fact she has no friends, she can t relate to anyone, not even her past self. This causes her to be
pushed deeper into her depression.
2) It looks like my mouth belongs to someone else, someone I don t even know. (17)
This quote relates to the last, but is different because insteading of talking about her past self, she
is talking about her present self. Because she is comparing herself to a stranger, this shows that she
is starting to lose control over her identity. This is important because without connections to anyone
else, or herself, she is starting to go into an all time low of her depression.
3) This has meaning. Pain. (65)
This quote appears when Mr.Freeman is inspecting Melinda s art. The artwork included a doll with
tape over it s mouth. This shows that other people can see that Melinda is in pain, but nobody
wants to do anything about it. The reason why this is important it shows that because Melinda is
alone, she is in pain.

Irony And Symbolism In Cabaret s Cabaret
A common theme in the 20th/21st century musical is their commentaries on world history,
whether it is subtle, or not. These comments range from deep political messages about the
current political climate of the world, to implicit ironies of past events. An example of the latter
can be seen in Cabaret, when Maximillian dismisses the Nazi party as merely a means to an end,
saying Let them get rid of the Communists. He then qualifies this statement by saying Later, we ll
be able to control them. The irony of Maximilian s dogmatic statements is only one example of
musical s commentary on history and the world around us. For example, the setting of both Gold

Performers wear scantily clad outfits designed to look like pennies or quarters, and are flanked
by very unsubtle piles of money, with giant pennies and dollar signs both above and behind them.
The use of this Mise en scene is to make the end of the musical number all the more tragic,
showing that even though the performers are In the money and sing of the depression as if it s a
thing of the past, their musical is still shut down, by that very same depression. But the commentary
about the world wide depression isn t isolated to just musical numbers, it also shows itself in both

Religiosity In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
The researchers have selected five short stories written by Flannery O Connor, and these are: A
Good Man is Hard to Find, Artificial Nigger, Everything that Rises Must Converge, Revelation,
and The Barber. Each story has significant aspects of racism and the subject of religiosity,
specifically the inclusion of the grace of God. A brief summary of each story will be discussed to
gain a better viewpoint of the issues raised. Also, the examination of racism and religiosity will be
raised in each selected stories.
In A Good Man is Hard to Find, this talks about a family who is set on a journey to go to Florida for
their vacation. The grandmother saw in a newspaper that a serial killer whose name was Misfit
was on a loose. The grandmother tried persuading his son, Bailey, to just go to Tennessee and not to

Eventually, they have set out on a journey to Florida and the grandmother even brought her cat
with her. After having lunch in a barbeque restaurant, the grandmother remembered an old
plantation in a nearby area. However, Bailey does not want to stop the car for a detour. Hence,
the grandmother made up lies; she said that in that house, there are hidden treasures and gems.
This made her grandchildren scream and it irritated Bailey, so he turns the car towards the
plantation. On the way there, the grandmother does not see the old plantation, this made her
anxious, suddenly, the cat she brought with her, jumps out of the car and caused the car to run
over the ditch. This made an accident and with that, she saw a group of people approaching her.
Out of shock, she recognized the face of a serial criminal that is on a loose. With great tremor, she
saw Misfit, and this caused her to tell him that she knows and recognized

Anti Semitic Movement
The Jews in foreign lands began to dream of a new nation that would become a safe haven for all
the Jews in the world. The sentiment was created partly due to the fact that the anti Semitic
movement was on the rise in parts of Europe and Asia and the Jews had begun to feel the brunt of
it. The sentiment grew to become the Zionist movement. The sole aim of the Zionist movement
was the setup of the Jewish state of Israelin the trans Jordanregion. By the beginning of the 20th
century, Jewsbegan to migrate to Palestine, aided by Jews who already lived there. The aid came
in the form of help to acquire lands and businesses. Most of these businesses came from absent
Palestinian land holders or businessmen. The Jews migrated in large droves as

Saddam Hussein s Full Takeover Of Iraq
This would set the stage for Saddam Hussein s full takeover of Iraq, making way for further
deterioration of Iraq Iran relations. Iraq would arrest several Iranian representatives and place
Ayatollah Mohammed Bakr al Sadr on trial for treason as a response to Ayatollah Khomeini and
Prime Minister Barzagan s continued support of the Shi a opposition to Saddam Hussein s Ba
athist regime. Furthered broadcasting of rebellion to the Shi a Muslims in Iraqand the assignation of
the Iraqi Prime Minister led to Iraq s execution of Ayatollah Bakr as Sadr. This would lead to the
first official militaryaction, Irans attacks within the Kermanshah province in September 1980.
With this attack Iraq s response once again circles back to the Shatt al Arab waterway, as they
order Iran to respect the pre 1975 treaty, withdraw from the province, end all support for all
opposition to the Ba athist regime and ender violence at the border. On September 22, 1980,
Saddam commenced an invasion of Iran, utilizing the violation of the 1975 Algiers agreement as an
argument for action. Saddam would begin bombing Iranian air bases in an attempt to destroy their
superior air force while still grounded. While runways and fuel depots were damaged, most aircrafts
were left untouched and they were launched within hours, targeting major Iraqi cities and other
important targets. Iraq would launch their mechanized infantry into Iran border towns,
overwhelming them, and allowing Iraq to occupy land within the

Descriptive Essay On The Grandmother
Icy fingers gripped my arm in the darkness, I took my attention from the starry sky to look from
the hand that touched me up to the face of my Grandma. She shared a kind smile with me
emphasizing her rosey cheeks warming my own despite the winter snow falling around us. My
little sister Sara squealed with glee as our shepherd pup Macy hopped around her, wagging her tail
so fast the entire back end of her body would follow in sync. Grandma took a deep breath as she
rewrapped her rope around her waist, How does a cup of tea sound? her voice was soft kind, I think
it is time we all should get some rest. I answered glancing back at sara who was still squealing
with joy as she watched the pup continue to roll in the glistening pillow of snowsurrounding the
small patch of land we call home. She nodded in agreement and reached her arm out for me to
support her inside. I grabbed the icy doorknob and turned it slowly before the winter wind
pushed it inside with a slam, revealing our small one room cabin, full of candles all shapes sizes.
On the walls children s artwork was seen almost everywhere you darted your eyes, colors filled
the room bringing cheer to anyone that was to enter, in contrast to the many war diaries I got
from my grandma. The warmth of from the fireplace was almost felt immediately in contrast to
the harsh winter outside. I listened to the familiar squeak of the floor below us as we made our
way over to her low bed, on it was an large old quilt made by

Citizen Vs Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is of major importance to the history of the United States, and the
same is true for the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen regarding the history of
France. Both documents were the start or major change within each of the countries. The
Declaration of Independence stated the colonies were no longer under Great Britain rule, but
instead they were now their own free country. In France the Declaration of the Rights of Man and
the Citizen was written to limit the power and authority of the crown and government. Although the
documents express different concerns there are still distinct similarities between the two. The

Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen says Men are born free and remain equal in

the Declaration of Independence it states All men are created equal .(Using APA, 1776, paragraph
two., The Declaration of Independence) The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen says
citizens have In defeasible rights (Using APA, 1789, Article 2., The Declaration of the Rights of

.(Using APA, 1776, paragraph two., The Declaration of Independence) This means that both of the
documents say that citizens have rights that can not be taken away. Each document was written
because there was a problem with what was going on within each country. The Declaration of the
Rights of Man and the Citizen was written so that the crown was no longer above the laws, and the
Declaration of Independence was written because the king of Great Britain had abused his powers
and making the colonists suffer. Each country wrote the documents because they had a problem

They had another photo shoot for Elle today, but somehow things moved slower this time. There were no warm touches or cute giggles distracting her from all the waiting. All she was left with was a makeup artist with a face too smug and unfriendly touches as she played with the soft features of Taeyeon s skin, dabbing on the foundation a bit too roughly. She was left alone with two other loud members in the dressing room, taking selcas of themselves, probably to be posted online. Taeyeon resisted the urge to roll her eyes, not wanting to ruin her eye makeup. If Tiffany was here, she would probably be taking selcas too, she thought. Tiffany is always taking selcas. The Habeas Corpus Law in the US Habeas Corpus U.S. Introduction Many may not know this but following his inauguration, President Obama did put in some orders to basically just shut down the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay within one year. However, about two years later, nevertheless, Obama s plan to close Guantanamo is in disasters. Defense Secretary Robert Gates lately named the forecasts for conclusion very, very low, and the management is trying to press forward with new military command trials that are at the base. In a lot of different ways, the United States is actually further from closing Guantanamo now than it was after Obama s inauguration. However, if we go back to the Bush years, we will discover that actually right after the U.S. attack of Afghanistan in 2001, the Bush administration had started developing a plan for holding and questioning apprehended prisoners. Most of these prisoners were then sent to a prison that was inside a U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, which happened to be on land that had been rented from the supervision of Cuba. A show or movie must address some current societal problem or trend in order to truly reflect American life; murder, rape, racism, and, on a less serious note, parties, shopping, and sports are topics that deserve serious consideration by the public and the media. The show Beverly Hills 90210 attempts to be an accurate portrayal of the life of a typical well off American teenager growing up in the 80 s and 90 s. Her father had killed Dylan s father before they d meet. Dylan was attempting to get revenge for his father s murder. In the meantime, Dylan has fallen in love with his daughter. The two lovers had just married and planned on a happy life when tragedy struck. In many ways, this incident portrays the negative images that organized crime reflects on the American culture. Although organized crime rings are decreasing, the problem of organized crime is still a detriment to American society. The producers are doing a good deed in showing this because it sends a message to teens; hopefully, they will want to become productive members of society and will not want to get involved with the harmful aspects of the American culture. The show also deals with the topic of suicide. It includes full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats, fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paper will reflect on the main influences on Gestalt psychology, their contributions, and the principles of perceptual organization. According to the Merriam Webster, the definition of gestalt psychology is: the study of perception and behavior from the standpoint of an individual s response to configurational wholes with stress on the uniformity of psychological and physiological events and rejection of analysis into discrete events of stimulus, percept, and response One of the main influences on Gestalt psychology , and their ideas influenced the later development of cognitive psychology. The gestaltists argued that understanding mind and behavior could not be achieved by trying to dissect conscious experience into its sensory elements, or by reducing complex behavior to elementary stimulus response units. Rather, their emphasis was on phenomenologically whole experiences, and before long their movement came to be identified with this catch phrase: The whole of an experience is greater than the sum of its individual parts. Three german gestalt pioneers emigrated from Europe to the US, Max Wertheimer, Kurt Koffka, and Wolfgang Hohler. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although it is sometimes difficult to see through the perspective of someone else, it is vital in being able to communicate with people around the world. I have taken two mission trips to Kenya, Africa during the summer with my church group. Because of this trip, I became more aware of the differences there were in cultureand just how many cultures I was missing out on. I believe that all cultures should become more aware of at least one other culture to compare and contrast the two because each culture could learn something from another. I have found the most important characteristics of this culture and would like to share the interests that this culture has brought to my attention. Good Leadership One of the things that the Kenyan culture values is good leadership among their people. Leadership is an important role because the people in charge are the ones who come up with the decisions for all their people. Kenya does not have the type of government that the United States has so they tend to make their own rules when it comes to their culture groups. • 16. The Russian Transitional Economy Essay SBEJ review paper Comments to the Author The paper tackles an important and interesting topic such as Barriers to Entrepreneurship. The context of investigation in the Russian transitional economy adds value to the paper too. However, here are some of the major comments 1.The original element of the paper is use of use of Double Bind Situation (DBS) theory to explain the entrepreneurial behavior in an extreme environment of transition. In particular, the paper does greater in terms of addressing the interactions of entrepreneurs and state individuals using DBST. Use of this theory to explain entrepreneurial behavior is important contribution to the field. 2.The review of entrepreneurship literature dealing with barriers is very brief. Author(s) should discuss more critically this literature by pointing some limitations. For example, paper argues that several authors have conceived of barriers as static while there is no discussion of some recent studies that use panel data technique, add dynamic component in their analysis, and of course overcome some of limitations of previous cross sectional studies. The studies, analysis in the theoretical part are based on the cross sectional. 3.Data and method needs some more careful details and discussion. METHOD: An air hockey table was set up and a video camera on a tripod was placed over the air hockey table. The camera was positioned so it was directly above the air hockey table facing downwards. Another random error occurred in the first experiment where the red puck was initially held down to prevent it from moving and released when the black puck collided with it. Due to the person s reaction time, holding it in place may have interfered with the collision as it was an external force and this may have impacted upon the results. Several systematic occurred in this experiment, but the most important one would have been the fact that the air hockey table was not completely level. This impacted upon the experiment in two ways. In the first experiment where the red puck is initially stationary, as the table was not level it moved around before the black puck collided with it. To overcome this the red puck had to be held in place and as mentioned before this would have provided and external force acting upon the puck. The unevenness of the air hockey table also meant that there was a possibility of friction acting on the pucks while they were moving. In the third collision with the Velcro another systematic error occurred. When the two pucks collided and stuck together they did not continue straight, instead they rotated. This is not linear momentum but rather it is angular momentum. This is reflected in the results as the magnitude of the initial and final momentum of the system is equal, but the ... The basic equation of Six Sigma, Y = f(x), defines the relationship between a dependent variable Y or the outcome of a process and a set of independent variables x or possible causes which affect the outcome. The Company Over the past decade, surgical services have increased dramatically. This is extremely important to hospitals since surgical services make up forty percent or more of the overall hospital revenue. With advancements in technology, some hospitals are offering digital operating rooms, robotic assistance and telesurgery. Even with these advancements, hospitals are having difficulty ensuring patient safety, streamlining workflow and cutting cost. Lead Poisoning in Children While the prevalence of lead poisoning in children is decreasing in the United States, screening of lead levels remains an important task of the pediatric primary care provider. Risk factors for lead poisoning and its toxic effects include children under six years (and especially those between 12 and 36 months), inner city children living in deteriorating housing, low income and middle income children, and refugee and foster care children (Hurwitz Lee, 2013a). The importance of this screening is underscored by the fact that children can be asymptomatic even with high blood lead levels (BLL) and symptoms of lead toxicity can be non specific. Early diagnosis is crucial because there are significant and permanent effects to almost all body systems with both toxic and below toxic BLL, including neurologic (ranging from developmental delay and behavior problems to encephalopathy), hematologic (anemia), renal (lead nephropathy), gastrointestinal (lead colic), and endocrine (vitamin D deficiency) (Hurwitz Lee, 2013a). Laboratory evaluation of lead poisoning in children will now be discussed. Because children with lead poisoning are usually asymptomatic, diagnosis of lead toxicity is usually made during routine screening of blood lead levels (BLL). The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends lead screening should be performed at one and two years of age and more frequently if a risk assessment warrants (Hagan, Shaw, Duncan, 2009). It means trying to hold on to physical life amid psychological death. It means the pain of watching your children grow up with clouds of inferiority in their mental skies. It means having their legs off, and then being condemned for being a cripple. This quote pretty much summed up the way in which African Americans felt during the 1960 s. They had basically no meaning to life. They were irrelevant. Whites wanted no part in them. This was especially the case in the state of Mississippi. Anne Moody, writer of the autobiography, Coming of Age in Mississippi explains the importance of the civil rights movement in the state of Mississippi and the influence it had on her life and her viewpoint. Growing up as a poor African Americanin Mississippi was not always an easy, especially in the 1960 s. It was a time where everyone was segregated. Blacks and whites were treated completely different. They weren t allowed to eat at the same restaurants, go into the same bathroom, or even drink from the same water fountain. Anne Moody did just that. • 37. Challenges Facing New Markets, Multinational Corporations... Introduction When entering new markets, multinational corporations (MNCs) often form strategic alliances with local companies. An alliance is where two or more organisations integrate to form a strategic, business relationship (Finlay, 2000). The potential benefits of such alliances include access to knowledge and resources, building a global network, market access, recognition and access to a distribution network which can all provide MNCs with a competitive advantage in a foreign market. However, MNCs also face many challenges when forming alliances in other countries including loss of intellectual property, different expectations, various challenges of globalisation (e.g. more stringent regulations being imposed on foreign firms), ethical and cultural considerations and change management. This essay will focus on two of these challenges in depth change management and cultural adaptation. However within these sections, certain other topics will also be considered including leadership, innovation and diversity and globalisation. This essay will critically discuss and analyse these challenges drawing on real world examples, academic theory and additional research. It will also highlight and consider potential solutions to these challenges. Change management One challenge MNCs face when forming alliances in foreign countries is successfully managing the organisational change necessary to integrate two businesses which may have different cultures, workforces and ... • 38. Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Lightships Lightships are manned seamarks anchored at a specific point of a river, generally a shallow one. Fixed into place by a mushroom shaped anchor, these small ships (rarely above 50 tons) would initially use large lanterns affixed atop the main mast. Their main advantage is that they could be placed in areas where it was impossible for lighthouses to act as efficient seamarks. Their main disadvantage, especially the early ones, is that turbulent waters could slightly shift the anchor and thus the ship s positioning (Talbot 1913, pp. 241 42). In the worst case scenario, the chains could snap, leaving the ship in a dire position. However, introduced in the early 19th century were numerous lighting inventions (Clarke 2016, pp. 14, 42) as well as mooring technologies using iron, which could anchor a vessel 12 to 14 times the tonnage of the largest lightship (Clarke 2016, pp. 50 56), made them increasingly reliable over time. Ubiquitous to seafarers, their offshore position meant that lightships were out of eyesight of the majority of the population, which explains why they went largely unnoticed, even by most economists and historians including Coase, who studied lighting services. Yet, lightships featured prominently in the frequently cited 1834 Report from the Select Committee on Lighthouses. In fact, of the 55 lights in England, 13 were provided by floating lights (House of Commons 1834, p. VI). As such, lightships were an important contributor to lighting services. What ... Because of this and the fact she has no friends, she can t relate to anyone, not even her past self. This causes her to be pushed deeper into her depression. 2) It looks like my mouth belongs to someone else, someone I don t even know. (17) This quote relates to the last, but is different because insteading of talking about her past self, she is talking about her present self. Because she is comparing herself to a stranger, this shows that she is starting to lose control over her identity. This is important because without connections to anyone else, or herself, she is starting to go into an all time low of her depression. 3) This has meaning. Pain. • 41. Irony And Symbolism In Cabaret s Cabaret A common theme in the 20th/21st century musical is their commentaries on world history, whether it is subtle, or not. These comments range from deep political messages about the current political climate of the world, to implicit ironies of past events. An example of the latter can be seen in Cabaret, when Maximillian dismisses the Nazi party as merely a means to an end, saying Let them get rid of the Communists. He then qualifies this statement by saying Later, we ll be able to control them. The irony of Maximilian s dogmatic statements is only one example of musical s commentary on history and the world around us. Performers wear scantily clad outfits designed to look like pennies or quarters, and are flanked by very unsubtle piles of money, with giant pennies and dollar signs both above and behind them.
