Afghanistan Pros And Cons
Although the Taliban was able to provide economic growth in Afghanistan, it was at the expense of
global addiction. Further, economic growth was short lasting because in 2001, the Taliban banned
opium production as a result of overproduction and a significant price decrease. The ban did increase
opium prices, however it had devastated many farmers, who were left with large unpaid loans to drug
dealers and no source of income (Descent into Chaos 320). Opposition to the Taliban therefore
increased amongst the Afghan population (320). Moreover, even though the Taliban was at first
praised for bringing relative peace and security to the regions they captured, their social and religious
policies were widely unpopular (Barfield 289). These unpopular ... Show more content on

When the Taliban took control of Kabul in 1996, they banned women from working, which was
especially detrimental to widows and other women who did not have a male figure in their life to
provide a source of income. Widows were therefore forced to beg in the streets and sell their goods
(Invisible Women 7). The Taliban also forced women to wear burqas, and if they failed to cover
themselves properly, they were subject to public beatings(7). Education for women also deteriorated
when the Taliban rose to power. Prior to the Taliban regime, Statistics by the Feminist Majority
Foundation revealed that over half of the student body of Afghanistan s universities were women (8),
but once Taliban took over, women were prohibited from attending school. Numerous other rules
imposed by the Taliban disallowed women from equal opportunity, such as the Taliban s refusal to
provide women access to medical care, their requirement that women must at all times be
accompanied by a male chaperone, women prohibition from driving, and women being unable to wear
white burqas, white socks, or white shoes, amongst other laws (Invisible 8). Failure to abide by the
Taliban rules led to harsh, and sometimes barbaric, punishments. Subsequently, these irrational rules
left widespread feelings of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness among Afghan women

Analysis Of O Pioneers By Willa Cather
O Pioneers by Willa Cather is a different novel from those of its time. It is a novel that stands for
women equality represented by the main character Alexandra. O Pioneers reveals a story about
Alexandra s struggle against nature and being a strong woman in a male dominated profession and
society. She succeeded in establishing her female identity and achieved a sense of female self
fulfillment by transforming the wild land and struggling for her equal rights with men. This paper
focuses on the feminist thoughts and pioneering spirit of the great image of the heroine Alexandra,
who was independent, brave, and optimistic. Getting strength and courage from her such spirit,
Alexandra would never be defeated by either men or nature. One January day, thirty years ago, the
little town of Hanover, anchored on a windy Nebraska tableland, was trying not to be blown away
(Cather, 1987, p. 1.). The novel begins in the small town of Hanover where all the farmers and some
of their children go to relax after the long working season. Of those community members, resides
young Alexandra Bergeson who was with her younger brother Emil. She was a tall strong girl who
was driven. She wore a man s long ulster (not as if it were an affliction, but as if it were very
comfortable and belonged to her; carried it like a young soldier), and a round plush cap, tied down
with a thick veil (Cather, 1987, p.2.). Although the description of Alexandra s appearance was
prominent, Willa Cather had her

Gunshot wound
A bullet may drive through the body causing serious internal injury and sucking in clothing and
contaminants from the air. The entry wound maybe small and neat any exit wound maybe large and
raged.
Stab wound
This type of wound is caused by a long or bladed instrument penetrating the body i.e. a knife. Stab
wounds to the torso must always be treated seriously because of the dangers of injury to vital organs a
life threatening internal bleeding.
Puncture wound
An injury such a standing on a nail or being pricked by a needle will result in a puncture wound. It has
a small entry site but a deep track of internal damage. The risk of infection is high because germs and
dirt can be carried far into the body.
Laceration
Crushing or ripping results in tears or lacerations. These wounds may bleed less profusely than incised
wounds but there is likely to be more tissue damage. Lacerations are often contaminated with germs
so risk of infection is high.
Contusion (bruise)
A blunt blow or punch can rupture capillaries beneath the skin causing blood to leak into the tissues
which results in bruising. The skin can occasionally split. Severe contusion may indicate deeper
damage such as a fracture or internal injury.
6.2 Describe the types and severity of bleeding and the affect that it has on an infant and a child.

The Incarceration Of The United States
Overview
The United States has the highest prison population in the world, with over two million incarcerated
(World Prison Brief, 2016), of whom many are juveniles. It is well documented that youths who enter
this system are more likely to suffer a host of negative health and lifestyle outcomes, such as
alcohol/drug abuse, high school dropout, and mental health problems. Such phenomena occur in stark
contrast with the aims of the US juvenile justice system, which supposedly intends to help offending
youths re assimilate back into society as productive citizens. As previously mentioned, incarceration
often leads to poor mental health, which when combined with the conditions of confinement
significantly raises the rates of suicide and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adolescents sentenced within the US juvenile justice system have especially high rates of recidivism
(when compared with their adult counterparts), with male juveniles incarcerated at a rate five times
higher than females (Sickmund et al., 2015). African Americans are an especially vulnerable
demographic within this group. In numbers similar to the adult incarcerated population, youths of
color are found in disproportionate numbers in every step of the US juvenile justice system, with
African American youths confined at nearly five times the rate of their white peers (The Annie E.
Casey Foundation, 2013). Additionally, number of prior offences is an important factor, as first time
offenders are much less likely to re offend than those with previous offences (Harrison et al., 2001).
Gang related activity and offenses were avoided for the purpose of this study, as gang affiliation has
an effect on the juveniles responses to the positive peer pressure of Teen Court programs. It is
important to note, however, that for juveniles, previous incarceration acts as an even greater risk factor
for future incarceration than gang membership (Holman Ziedenberg, 2006). It is important to note that
only participants who completed the program were included in the analysis. Research shows that of
those who participate in Teen Court programs, those who complete their sentence are significantly

Students With Learning Disabilities And Learning Differences
Intro
Being a teacher, one will encounter many students with learning disabilities or learning differences.
These things can be anything between attention deficit disorder to down syndrome. It is the teacher s
job to understand what that child is going through in order to ensure that they receive the best
available education possible. Now a teacher might say, I am not required to know how to teach special
education , which is where most of these students will be placed. But ones with minor learning
differences will be seen in everyday classroom environments. Therefore, a teacher should want to
educate every student to the best of their ability to ensure that no matter what learning difference a
child has that that child can be successful in life. One specific learning difference I am going to talk
about today is dyslexia. Many do not know what this learning difference really is or even all of its
causes, and symptoms. Many people probably do not know what the child has to go through when
getting an RTI or what that even is. They may not take in perspective on what impact that child has on
its family. Teachers should know how to give dyslexic children the best education possible, and this
starts out by getting with the family and forming and RTI. Then there are many appropriate tools that
may be used to ensure that the children can succeed in their education.
Description, Causes, and Symptoms
What is Dyslexia? The simplest definition that can be given is, a disability in

Psychological And Sociological Effects Of Technology
Psychological Considerations and Sociological Effects There have been many studies done on the
negative psychological and sociological effects of technology while some may be true technology has
its share of positive effects on society. The advances of technology have aided in the access to
information from relatively anywhere. According to Hepburn (2013) By the end of 2014, the number
of Internet users was expected to be almost 3 billion, two thirds of whom live in the developing world,
and the number of mobile broadband subscriptions was expected to reach 2.3 billion globally (as cited
in Yáñez, Okada, Palau2015, p.89). It has become easier to stay connected to family, friends, access
personal information, and has improved educational opportunities. Technology is always evolving and
changing for the better. Mobile technologies and networks are increasingly expanding in their
sophistication and capacity, and new applications (software programs) are enhancing the ways in
which individuals interact (Giota, 2014). Medical Uses Advancements in technology have made it
possible for people to access medical information, communicate with their doctor, manage and track
diseases, seek help, and maintain anonymity. Technology has facilitated the tracking of medical
information, for example, Kaiser Permanente uses a computerized system to store and track patient
information. Any doctor in a Kaiser facility can access patient information, ensuring the doctor is

The Importance Of The Renaissance During The Renaissance
The word Renaissance comes from the Italian word rebirth and it was used to describe their own age
which new literature, learning, and arts were discovered and reborn after the long lasting Middle Ages,
and these things were one of the most important aspects of the Renaissance. This means that many
new types and techniques of art were found during the Renaissance period as the Renaissance artists
had so much passion for art. They used paintings and drawings to record different things that had
happened such as portraits of themselves, their accomplishments in successful battles against other
countries.
The Renaissance period was said to be one of the most interesting periods of the European history. It
was a very unique time where there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is really important because before, the human society was focused more on the religious way of
life. Churches had more influence on us but because of the rise of the Renaissance during its time
period, the people had a lot more focus on the human side of life, they had a different view of the
world in a different perspective. The reason why humanism plays a big part of our society today is
because it had a philosophy that humans should be acclaimed for their achievements, according to
Importance of Humanism, (http://world history.nmhblogs.org/2012/11/18/the importance of
humanism/). If there were no humanism, our world would be totally different. The church would have
kept its power and the influence it had on us humans and it would be able to shape people s minds. We
also would not have great art and literature, like paintings from Leonardo Da Vinci. We all have taken
great jump and improvement in our advancements in technology, individualism and science. So
without humanism, the world we are living in would different from the world we are living in now. I
think that had impacts in art because people back in the Renaissance thought that the human body was
a beautiful creation of the gods. After that, many artists began to closely study the anatomy in order to
portrait the beauty of the body properly (naturalism). The difference between the middle ages and the
renaissance art is that during the middle ages, as we all know artists during that time didn t really
focus on realism which means that the paints of humans weren t very realistic and accurate. Unlike the
renaissance art, artists even began to study the human bodies to accurately portrait them. For my
painting, I drew a face of a woman, which shows humanism because I tried really

Apathy To Empathy
Moving from Apathy to Empathy
Apathy in general, is defined as: indifference, lack of interest, or concern for others. More specifically,
the dis ability to identify with others or feel their pain is the primary nature of those who are strong on
apathy.
Empathy, in contrast, is defined as having compassion and sympathy towards others to the extent of
being able to relate with them and their pains. Empathy is, also the ability to understand or feel what
the other person is experiencing or going through. It is the ability to step into the shoes of another
person, with the aim to understand their feelings and perspectives, and then to use that understanding
to guide our actions. That differentiates it from kindness or pity. Additionally, empathy ... Show more

We all usually have assumptions about others. That prevents us from appreciating their individuality.
We need to shelve our assumptions and accept the differences.
Thirdly, we can expand our empathy by gaining direct experience of other people s lives, putting into
practice the proverb: Walk a mile in another man s shoes, before you criticise him .
There are two more traits required for being an empathic person. One of them is, to master the art of
listening. It is essential, that we have the ability to listen to what is really going on within the other
person, and to the unique feelings and needs the other person is experiencing in that very moment. An
empathic person will listen hard to others and do all he can to grasp their emotional state and needs.
When it comes to listening, it is quite important to look and grasp even the non verbal cues that will
enable us to truly understand other person s emotional state of mind. It indirectly initiates an
introspection to question our own thoughts, beliefs and actions. This will enable us to take steps
towards building better

Disappearance Of The Roanoke Colony
The Roanoke Colony was a colony that seemed to disappear in 1950. There are many theories about
what happened to the colony, but the theory that they colonized into other settlements around them is
the most probable. The disappearance of the colony is why it earned the name the lost colony In 1584
on March 25th, Queen Elizabeth told Sir Walter Raleigh to start a colony in North america. Raleigh
started his expedition with Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe to start and explore the eastern coast of
North America on April 27, 1584. They ended up arriving on July 4th and created relations with the
locals, the Secotans and Croatans. They then returned to England, however, Raleigh was not done. He
organized a second expedition that was led by Sir Richard Grenville. Grenville departed on April 9,
1585 with 5 main ships. They were all to meet up in Puerto Rico. Then in 1587 Raleigh had 100 or so
colonists to start the Roanoke colony but eventually the ran out of supplies. Raleigh and John Watts
went on an expedition and agreed to stop back to Roanoke after raiding the Spanish and Caribbean.
When they came back the settlement had vanished.(History.com Staff) This was very significant
because over 100 people just vanished without leaving any info about where they actually went. ...

nearby. Everything was gone. The houses and fortifications were dismantled which was a sign that the
departure of the colony was not rushed. (Prentzas 55) The Roanokes were also told that if anything

Several companies promote the lens switching speed on the products. The faster the lens switching
speed is, the higher the quality of the protection is. Low cost lens will often have 1/3,600 of a second

A Comparative Analysis Of The Movie AndThe Great Gatsby
Love Hurts, Love Dies
Love is the most beautiful thing, unless it s being taken advantage of. In the book The Great Gatsby
and the film Chicago , characters chose relationships based on social status rather than love. In the
1920s everything was changing, world was evolving and there was people who viewed the world The
popular image of the 1920s, as a decade of prosperity and riotous living and of bootleggers and
gangsters, flappers and hot jazz, flagpole sitters, and marathon dancers, is indelibly etched in the
American psyche (Mintz 1). Different aspects were seen after the United States won the war. Suddenly
people wanted to be in a higher social class and would do whatever it takes to be there. In the book
The Great Gatsby Fitzgerald, shows us how relationships didn t mean everything only social class. In
the fim Chicago it shows us how people like Roxie would hurt their loved ones to find fame. Roxie
hurt the closest person in her life, her husband Amos in order to find fame. Roxies social status in the
1920s, was more important for her than being with her loved one. Finding fame in the 1920s was
important, Whatever their views, beliefs and situations, women in the 1920s were all affected by the

The Purpose Of Teaching
Introduction.
Teaching in a classroom is like leading a team to the top of a mountain. Teaching especially when
having a class full of children is the ultimate challenge, because they are new for what they are dealing
with, but it can be also a source of fun to deal with these pure natured souls. Teaching students at
higher classes is much easier, because most of them are independent, and they can think more about
what they learn in class. The purpose of chosen teaching as a profession, curriculum, teaching
methods and teacher s roles are discussed in the following.
Purpose.
Teaching is like leadership. Teachers lead their students to achieve their goals during the study period.
It s a great honor to help my students by giving them the encouragement that they need to make their
dreams come true. The main reason of chosen education as a profession is to follow the massage of
Allah to build our planet. The nations can t raise without educated individuals, so I will try to make
my students aware about the ongoing situations around the country and which might be related to the

Wart into the king he becomes. In the first few chapters, Wart is introduced as an adopted son and

of Mr. P. He had been ravaged by all the passions of an absolute monarch by cruelty, sorrow, age,

Education is one of the most important contributors to having a successful future. In developed
countries such as North America boys and girls are fortunate enough to have access to an unbiased
education system. Therefore, allowing children to have countless opportunities. However, in countries
like Afghanistan girls are marginalized and neglected the right to learn. Afghanistan is a country of
war, where women and girls are often the worst victims. In 2011, Afghanistan was known as the most
dangerous place in the world for a girl to be born (Kissane). Malala Yousufzai, a female education
activist was also a victim of war. Yousufazi was shot in the head and neck for advocating for girls and
their rights to have access to education. Similarly, to Yousufzai many women in Afghanistan stand up
for their entitlement to having equality. Those courageous women often become victims of abuse and
are often killed. Investing in girls education is critical, not only is it life altering for a girl s future, but
it s also poses benefits to society. By allowing Afghan girls access to educating we are also promoting
better socioeconomic s, a reduction in child marriages, and an improvement in mortality rates.
Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world. Three decades of war has subjected Afghans
to harsh living conditions. Leaving most with insufficient resources to survive. Many women are left
widowed, and are obligated to provide for their families,

After an investigation by the US International Trade Commission, in 1983 President Reagan imposed
a 45% tariff on imported bikes and bikes over 700 cc engine capacity. The new management
deliberately exploited the past appeal of their big machines, building motorcycles that purposely
adopted the look and feel of their earlier models. Quality increased, technical improvements were
made, and buyers returned. Harley Davidson once again became the sales leader in the heavyweight
(over 750 cc) market. During its period of peak demand, the company expanded the number of
dealerships throughout the country. At the same time, its current dealers typically had waiting lists that
extended up to a year for some of the most popular models. In August 2009, Harley Davidson
announced plans to enter the market in India. The company established a subsidiary near Delhi, and
began the process of seeking dealers.[6] The Motorcycle Industry Motorcycles are one of the most
affordable forms of transportation and one of the most common types of motor vehicle. There are
approximately 200 million motorcycles (including mopeds and motor scooters) in use worldwide,
compared with 590 million cars. Most motorcycles are concentrated in the United States and Japan.

Comparing Lord Of The Flies And Beowulf s Death
9/11, Sandy Hook, Orlando, Boston Marathon, Hurricane Katrina, and Iraq/Afghanistan war; all these
events revolve around death and destruction. When Time magazine asked Americans to rank the most
significant event in their lifetime those were the events they choose. Death... the biggest impact and
influence in people s life and minds. We see death take place in Lord of the Flies and Beowulf. Both
stories have appalling and perplexing events that take place throughout the novel. Many of the events
that take place result in death. While these stories revolve around death, Piggy and Simon s death, in
Lord of the Flies, were much more influential to the other characters, plot, and the overall theme than
Beowulf s death.
Death can be influential to any story by the way it impacts a character. One character in Beowulf who
was affected by death was Wiglaf. Our glorious king! By almighty God, I d rather burn myself than
see Flames swirling around my lord (Unknown 725 727) Wiglaf broke down emotionally at the sight
of Beowulf s death. This shows Wiglaf s loyalty to Beowulf, and how he truly cared about Beowulf s
well being. Just like Beowulf had Wiglaf, Simon and Piggy had Ralph on their side. Ralph was
emotionally distressed after Simon s death specifically because of how it happened. Ralph was never
able to fully let it go; that s one reason why he breaks down in front of the soldier at the end of the
novel.
After Piggy and the conch were destroyed, Ralph, with no hope left, was worried he would be next
and actually had to run away from the rest of the boys on the island. The boys left on the island could
care less about the fact that those two boys were killed and that blood was on their hands. Those boys
were even excited about the possibility of killing Ralph. This happens to be a way more influential
and important fact to know about the characters in Lord of the Flies because they started to enjoy
death. The boys would chant and sing songs about slitting the pig s throat as if it were a game. In
contrast, Wiglaf was very distraught over the death of his king. After Beowulf s death the soldiers set
up a tower to overlook a creek and they buried jewels in his honor. Typically, Beowulf was only
treated one way

Good Credit Score
Why you need a good credit score and simple actions you can do to improve it
You may find that your credit score is still lower than you would like (or deserve) even after making
sure your credit report is accurate. The average FICA credit score has fluctuated between 675 and 700
in recent years, with 850 being the maximum score one could have. People with below average scores
must pay high interest rates. What Can You Do? First, you need to recognize that efforts to improve
your credit score take time to have an impact. Most people find that it takes about one year for their
score to show much improvement. This is partly because changes take time to show up in your credit
report. But it is also true that your credit history stays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These items will still stay on your credit re port but the fact that you made good on the debt will be a
plus. DO re establish your credit if you have had problems in the past. Opening one or two credit
accounts and using them responsibly will slowly but surely rebuild your credit score. This may take a
few years, however. DO stop using your credit cards if you are not paying your balance in full each
month. Using a card on which you carry a balance is almost guaranteed to result in ever increasing
balances. DO NOT ignore debt problems. Credit scores can go down much faster than they can go up.
Lenders typically report negative information right away. Again, contacting lenders directly or a
telephoning a reputable credit counseling agency can be of help. DO NOT use repossession as a way
to get out from under debt. Repossession negatively affects credit scores even if the repossessed item
has sufficient value to pay the debt. And in most cases, its value is not enough to pay off the full
balance owed. Thus you will still owe some amount of remaining debt. It would be better to sell the
item yourself, add additional funds if necessary, and pay off the debt in

Carl Joyner Spoke To Analysis
Last Friday we had the pleasure of being spoke to by Carl Joyner who is the CEO, Founder and
President of Triose. One thing that was interesting about his presentation was that he didn t talk much
about his company or any jobs he had. He focused mainly on his philosophy, determination and
personal story. He started with a simple but meaningful message that has inspired him all throughout
his life. There s a better way to do it . He claimed that this little message is what powered him to be
successful and innovative in the healthcare arena. He talked of his time at Penske and how they
changed their supply chain to maximize efficiency and reach more consumers. Next, he covered the
Dot Com revolution and how it influenced his experience in the business world. I found that he was
very informative, straight forward and held nothing back. I could tell that he genuinely wanted to

He is objective and self aware which allows him to recognize when he is being irrational along with
identifying it in others too. He seems like a critical thinker and a businessman who keeps a level head,

a tool that clearly helped him throughout his life. These are just a few of the tools/skills he uses to
accomplish tasks and succeed.
Carl Joyner truly inspired me with his talk and I am grateful that he gave such a good presentation for
I learned many things. He inspired me to study myself and know what I am capable of before diving
into some new endeavor. This is a very smart and safe way to operate because you know the flaws and
perks contained in yourself. I think that was his best point and my biggest take away. I look forward to

1. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess (1962)
2. Characters
Alex is the main character and the narrator of the novel; he gives us insight into the minds of the
unimaginably violent youth. He is, very likely, a sociopath he greatly enjoys classical music and
seems to be quite the escapist in this instance. When he is not enjoying his music, he is the leader of a
ruthless gang that haunts the streets and attacks civilians at will. He is proud of his position as leader,
but he also possesses a self righteous arrogance that he uses to try to separate himself from the
pointless brutality of his gang. He is lost in his own kingdom, the one he has built up in his mind he is
cruel and commits heinous acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
F. Alexander s Cottage is in the countryside, ideal and marked HOME. It s a place that would seem to
be more safe than any other place to be and yet F. Alexander and his wife are not exempt from the
horrors that Alex and his gang decide to enact upon them. It ironically ends up becoming a sanctuary
to Alex later in the novel where once he inflicted pain and damage, he now must seek refuge.
4. A Clockwork Orange was written in 1962 during a time where sexuality and violence was becoming
less censured in the media while the individuals who were exposed to it became more jaded. Shows
were becoming increasingly popular, especially those that dealt with the future and the examination of
the human condition. This new obsession with the future likely stemmed from the scientific
advancements of the time and an interest of what might follow should it continue to progress; the
heightened obsession of human nature was probably influenced by the conflicting desires to conform
(think suburbs ) and establish individualism (in the form of the new and accessible statements of
fashion, television, and most especially, music) as well as a fear of societies that would desire to
control their people to the point that there is

A Thousand Splendid Suns By Khaled Hosseini
In Khaled Hosseini s novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, women live in an oppressive, discriminatory
Afghan society in which they are deemed useless and obtain little to no rights, yet still manage to
endure the burden that falls upon them. After the immensely false interpretations of her father and the
bitter fatality of her mother, Mariam s father demands she marries a stranger considerably older than
her at the age of fifteen. Rasheed prays daily in hopes for Laila to produce a male offspring and is
exceedingly unappreciative and disrespectful when Laila produces a female instead. Rasheed and the
Taliban claim it is extremely blasphemous and embarrassing for a married Afghan woman to look
directly into a man s eyes, wear makeup, or display her knees so Rasheed asserts Mariam and Laila
wear burqas. Women s diminished rights and limited input in society is evident when youthful Mariam
unwillingly marries an outright stranger because her father and wives demands she do so.
Mariam is in absolute disbelief when Jalil s wives instruct her to marry a forty five year old man
immediately while Jalil watches speechlessly and approves of the arranged, instant, forced marriage.
After less than a month of living with her father, his wives find the perfect opportunity to remove
Mariam from the household which simultaneously abolishes the last trace of her father s scandalous
mistake of an affair with his housekeeper, Mariam s mother. You have a suitor, Khadija said. Mariam s

Jealousy By William Shakespeare s Proverbs
In Proverbs 6:34 it is written, For jealousy makes a man furious, and he will not spare when he takes
revenge. Jealousy is an emotion that often makes each of us act and react in a bad way. Some pout,
some stomp the ground and shake their fist and still others yell and scream. Some people do all of
these things at the same time. Revenge is an act, based on an emotion. But is it formed from the same
emotion as jealousy? Or is jealous and revenge separate in formation and emotion? Many people find
revenge to be an extension of jealousy, anger, envy, etc. and are therefore similar in both formation
and emotion. I believe jealousy and revenge are separate emotions yet similar in formation. Jealousy is
an emotion but revenge puts that emotion into action. Jealousy is an emotion tinged with feelings like
anger, insecurity, fear, and resentment. (ppedia). Jealousy isn t something we can control most of the
time. It is a natural, built in emotion that we all experience at some point. Most of the time jealousy
comes from self pity and insecurity. Hands down, insecurity is the most common source of jealousy
writes Dr. Seth Meyers in Psychology Today. Curbing our jealousy can be difficult, but it is necessary
if we want to move forward and have healthy relationships. Uncontrolled jealousy often causes people
to do things they wouldn t normally do. Small, self perceived insults add fuel to flame our already
heightened emotions. This uncontrolled emotion can lead to

Informative Speech About Cats Research Paper
Hello, my name is Lydia Barton, and today I d like to expand your knowledge about cats. Cats are
very interesting animals. Aside from cats being a popular choice of pet, they have many fascinating
features and habits. By the time I am through talking, you will know more than you ever thought you
would about cats. To properly inform you about cats, I will talk about their anatomy, their impact on
our world, their variation, and their lifestyle.
Cats have a very interesting anatomy that helps them do many wonderful things. For example, all cats
have whiskers, big ears, and a tail. A cat s whiskers are used for navigation, and can help detect
predators. Cats use their whiskers to feel around and detect the size and texture of an object. ... Show

Cats can hear much better than humans. They hear much better than dogs as well. A cat s hearing is so
good, in fact, that it can even tell the approximate size of what it is hearing. A cat also uses its ears to
maintain balance. There are three fluid filled tubes lined with small hairs in a cat s ear. The fluid
brushes past the small hairs and gives the cat a sense of where it is going.
A cat s tail is used for balance, as well as for communication. A cat will sway its tail back and forth to
balance its body. A cat will also sometimes wrap its tail around something like a tree branch to
stabilize its body. You might wonder how a cat uses its tail for communication. If the cat puffs up its
tail and straightens it, this is communicating fear. If its tail is relaxed, then the cat is relaxed.
Cats have a significant impact in our world. They impact other animals and nature as well. Cats are
not native to the U.S., therefore, they are an unnatural predator to many species. An article by Scott
Loss, Tom Will, and Peter Marra estimated that free ranging domestic cats kill 1.4 to 3.7 billion birds
and 6.9 to 20.7 billion mammals annually. Domestic cats have also caused extinction in a variety of
animals. It is estimated that cats are the top reason for human induced bird mortality. Although it is the
unowned cats who are the leading cause of bird mortality. Another interesting fact is that cats, along

Pros And Cons Of Animal Testing
An animal test is any scientific experiment or test in which a live animal is forced to undergo
something that is likely to cause them pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. As right now, millions
of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside barren cages in
laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, suffer from extreme frustration, ache with
loneliness, and long to be free. The complete lack of environmental enrichment and stress of their
living situation cause some animals to develop neurotic types of behavior such as incessantly spinning
in circles, rocking back and forth, pulling out their own fur, and even biting themselves. They shake
and cower in fear whenever someone approaches, and their blood pressure spikes dramatically. After
enduring a life of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of them will be killed. There are many non
animal test methods that can be used in place of test on animals. Not only are these non animal test
more humane, they also have potential to be cheaper, faster, and more relevant to humans. Some of
this methods are non invasive imaging techniques such as MRIs and CT scans, computer models and
simulations, and stem cell and genetic testing methods. Some of the experimentations conducted on
animals today is required by law, most of it is not. In fact, a number of countries have implements
bans on the testing of certain types of products on animals, such as the cosmetics testing bans in

  • 2. Afghanistan Pros And Cons Although the Taliban was able to provide economic growth in Afghanistan, it was at the expense of global addiction. Further, economic growth was short lasting because in 2001, the Taliban banned opium production as a result of overproduction and a significant price decrease. The ban did increase opium prices, however it had devastated many farmers, who were left with large unpaid loans to drug dealers and no source of income (Descent into Chaos 320). Opposition to the Taliban therefore increased amongst the Afghan population (320). Moreover, even though the Taliban was at first praised for bringing relative peace and security to the regions they captured, their social and religious policies were widely unpopular (Barfield 289). These unpopular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Taliban took control of Kabul in 1996, they banned women from working, which was especially detrimental to widows and other women who did not have a male figure in their life to provide a source of income. Widows were therefore forced to beg in the streets and sell their goods (Invisible Women 7). The Taliban also forced women to wear burqas, and if they failed to cover themselves properly, they were subject to public beatings(7). Education for women also deteriorated when the Taliban rose to power. Prior to the Taliban regime, Statistics by the Feminist Majority Foundation revealed that over half of the student body of Afghanistan s universities were women (8), but once Taliban took over, women were prohibited from attending school. Numerous other rules imposed by the Taliban disallowed women from equal opportunity, such as the Taliban s refusal to provide women access to medical care, their requirement that women must at all times be accompanied by a male chaperone, women prohibition from driving, and women being unable to wear white burqas, white socks, or white shoes, amongst other laws (Invisible 8). Failure to abide by the Taliban rules led to harsh, and sometimes barbaric, punishments. Subsequently, these irrational rules left widespread feelings of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness among Afghan women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of O Pioneers By Willa Cather O Pioneers by Willa Cather is a different novel from those of its time. It is a novel that stands for women equality represented by the main character Alexandra. O Pioneers reveals a story about Alexandra s struggle against nature and being a strong woman in a male dominated profession and society. She succeeded in establishing her female identity and achieved a sense of female self fulfillment by transforming the wild land and struggling for her equal rights with men. This paper focuses on the feminist thoughts and pioneering spirit of the great image of the heroine Alexandra, who was independent, brave, and optimistic. Getting strength and courage from her such spirit, Alexandra would never be defeated by either men or nature. One January day, thirty years ago, the little town of Hanover, anchored on a windy Nebraska tableland, was trying not to be blown away (Cather, 1987, p. 1.). The novel begins in the small town of Hanover where all the farmers and some of their children go to relax after the long working season. Of those community members, resides young Alexandra Bergeson who was with her younger brother Emil. She was a tall strong girl who was driven. She wore a man s long ulster (not as if it were an affliction, but as if it were very comfortable and belonged to her; carried it like a young soldier), and a round plush cap, tied down with a thick veil (Cather, 1987, p.2.). • 5. The Incarceration Of The United States Overview The United States has the highest prison population in the world, with over two million incarcerated (World Prison Brief, 2016), of whom many are juveniles. It is well documented that youths who enter this system are more likely to suffer a host of negative health and lifestyle outcomes, such as alcohol/drug abuse, high school dropout, and mental health problems. Such phenomena occur in stark contrast with the aims of the US juvenile justice system, which supposedly intends to help offending youths re assimilate back into society as productive citizens. As previously mentioned, incarceration often leads to poor mental health, which when combined with the conditions of confinement significantly raises the rates of suicide and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adolescents sentenced within the US juvenile justice system have especially high rates of recidivism (when compared with their adult counterparts), with male juveniles incarcerated at a rate five times higher than females (Sickmund et al., 2015). African Americans are an especially vulnerable demographic within this group. In numbers similar to the adult incarcerated population, youths of color are found in disproportionate numbers in every step of the US juvenile justice system, with African American youths confined at nearly five times the rate of their white peers (The Annie E. Casey Foundation, 2013). Additionally, number of prior offences is an important factor, as first time offenders are much less likely to re offend than those with previous offences (Harrison et al., 2001). Gang related activity and offenses were avoided for the purpose of this study, as gang affiliation has an effect on the juveniles responses to the positive peer pressure of Teen Court programs. It is important to note, however, that for juveniles, previous incarceration acts as an even greater risk factor for future incarceration than gang membership (Holman Ziedenberg, 2006). It is important to note that only participants who completed the program were included in the analysis. Research shows that of those who participate in Teen Court programs, those who complete their sentence are significantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Students With Learning Disabilities And Learning Differences Intro Being a teacher, one will encounter many students with learning disabilities or learning differences. These things can be anything between attention deficit disorder to down syndrome. It is the teacher s job to understand what that child is going through in order to ensure that they receive the best available education possible. Now a teacher might say, I am not required to know how to teach special education , which is where most of these students will be placed. But ones with minor learning differences will be seen in everyday classroom environments. Therefore, a teacher should want to educate every student to the best of their ability to ensure that no matter what learning difference a child has that that child can be successful in life. One specific learning difference I am going to talk about today is dyslexia. Many do not know what this learning difference really is or even all of its causes, and symptoms. Many people probably do not know what the child has to go through when getting an RTI or what that even is. They may not take in perspective on what impact that child has on its family. Teachers should know how to give dyslexic children the best education possible, and this starts out by getting with the family and forming and RTI. Then there are many appropriate tools that may be used to ensure that the children can succeed in their education. Description, Causes, and Symptoms What is Dyslexia? Psychological And Sociological Effects Of Technology Psychological Considerations and Sociological Effects There have been many studies done on the negative psychological and sociological effects of technology while some may be true technology has its share of positive effects on society. The advances of technology have aided in the access to information from relatively anywhere. According to Hepburn (2013) By the end of 2014, the number of Internet users was expected to be almost 3 billion, two thirds of whom live in the developing world, and the number of mobile broadband subscriptions was expected to reach 2.3 billion globally (as cited in Yáñez, Okada, Palau2015, p.89). It has become easier to stay connected to family, friends, access personal information, and has improved educational opportunities. Technology is always evolving and changing for the better. Mobile technologies and networks are increasingly expanding in their sophistication and capacity, and new applications (software programs) are enhancing the ways in which individuals interact (Giota, 2014). Medical Uses Advancements in technology have made it possible for people to access medical information, communicate with their doctor, manage and track diseases, seek help, and maintain anonymity. Technology has facilitated the tracking of medical information, for example, Kaiser Permanente uses a computerized system to store and track patient information. • 8. The Importance Of The Renaissance During The Renaissance The word Renaissance comes from the Italian word rebirth and it was used to describe their own age which new literature, learning, and arts were discovered and reborn after the long lasting Middle Ages, and these things were one of the most important aspects of the Renaissance. This means that many new types and techniques of art were found during the Renaissance period as the Renaissance artists had so much passion for art. They used paintings and drawings to record different things that had happened such as portraits of themselves, their accomplishments in successful battles against other countries. The Renaissance period was said to be one of the most interesting periods of the European history. It was a very unique time where there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is really important because before, the human society was focused more on the religious way of life. Churches had more influence on us but because of the rise of the Renaissance during its time period, the people had a lot more focus on the human side of life, they had a different view of the world in a different perspective. The reason why humanism plays a big part of our society today is because it had a philosophy that humans should be acclaimed for their achievements, according to Importance of Humanism, (http://world history.nmhblogs.org/2012/11/18/the importance of humanism/). If there were no humanism, our world would be totally different. The church would have kept its power and the influence it had on us humans and it would be able to shape people s minds. We also would not have great art and literature, like paintings from Leonardo Da Vinci. We all have taken great jump and improvement in our advancements in technology, individualism and science. So without humanism, the world we are living in would different from the world we are living in now. I think that had impacts in art because people back in the Renaissance thought that the human body was a beautiful creation of the gods. After that, many artists began to closely study the anatomy in order to portrait the beauty of the body properly (naturalism). The difference between the middle ages and the renaissance art is that during the middle ages, as we all know artists during that time didn t really focus on realism which means that the paints of humans weren t very realistic and accurate. Unlike the renaissance art, artists even began to study the human bodies to accurately portrait them. For my painting, I drew a face of a woman, which shows humanism because I tried really ... More specifically, the dis ability to identify with others or feel their pain is the primary nature of those who are strong on apathy. Empathy, in contrast, is defined as having compassion and sympathy towards others to the extent of being able to relate with them and their pains. Empathy is, also the ability to understand or feel what the other person is experiencing or going through. That prevents us from appreciating their individuality. We need to shelve our assumptions and accept the differences. Thirdly, we can expand our empathy by gaining direct experience of other people s lives, putting into practice the proverb: Walk a mile in another man s shoes, before you criticise him . There are two more traits required for being an empathic person. One of them is, to master the art of listening. It is essential, that we have the ability to listen to what is really going on within the other person, and to the unique feelings and needs the other person is experiencing in that very moment. An empathic person will listen hard to others and do all he can to grasp their emotional state and needs. When it comes to listening, it is quite important to look and grasp even the non verbal cues that will enable us to truly understand other person s emotional state of mind. It indirectly initiates an introspection to question our own thoughts, beliefs and actions. This will enable us to take steps towards building better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many theories about what happened to the colony, but the theory that they colonized into other settlements around them is the most probable. The disappearance of the colony is why it earned the name the lost colony In 1584 on March 25th, Queen Elizabeth told Sir Walter Raleigh to start a colony in North america. Raleigh started his expedition with Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe to start and explore the eastern coast of North America on April 27, 1584. They ended up arriving on July 4th and created relations with the locals, the Secotans and Croatans. They then returned to England, however, Raleigh was not done. He organized a second expedition that was led by Sir Richard Grenville. Grenville departed on April 9, 1585 with 5 main ships. They were all to meet up in Puerto Rico. Then in 1587 Raleigh had 100 or so colonists to start the Roanoke colony but eventually the ran out of supplies. Raleigh and John Watts went on an expedition and agreed to stop back to Roanoke after raiding the Spanish and Caribbean. In the book The Great Gatsby and the film Chicago , characters chose relationships based on social status rather than love. Teaching especially when having a class full of children is the ultimate challenge, because they are new for what they are dealing with, but it can be also a source of fun to deal with these pure natured souls. • 21. Comparing Lord Of The Flies And Beowulf s Death 9/11, Sandy Hook, Orlando, Boston Marathon, Hurricane Katrina, and Iraq/Afghanistan war; all these events revolve around death and destruction. When Time magazine asked Americans to rank the most significant event in their lifetime those were the events they choose. Death... the biggest impact and influence in people s life and minds. We see death take place in Lord of the Flies and Beowulf. Both stories have appalling and perplexing events that take place throughout the novel. Many of the events that take place result in death. While these stories revolve around death, Piggy and Simon s death, in Lord of the Flies, were much more influential to the other characters, plot, and the overall theme than Beowulf s death. Death can be influential to any story by the way it impacts a character. One character in Beowulf who was affected by death was Wiglaf. Our glorious king! By almighty God, I d rather burn myself than see Flames swirling around my lord (Unknown 725 727) Wiglaf broke down emotionally at the sight of Beowulf s death. This shows Wiglaf s loyalty to Beowulf, and how he truly cared about Beowulf s well being. Just like Beowulf had Wiglaf, Simon and Piggy had Ralph on their side. Ralph was emotionally distressed after Simon s death specifically because of how it happened. Ralph was never able to fully let it go; that s one reason why he breaks down in front of the soldier at the end of the novel. After Piggy and the conch were destroyed, Ralph, with no hope left, was worried he would be next and actually had to run away from the rest of the boys on the island. The boys left on the island could care less about the fact that those two boys were killed and that blood was on their hands. Those boys were even excited about the possibility of killing Ralph. This happens to be a way more influential and important fact to know about the characters in Lord of the Flies because they started to enjoy death. The boys would chant and sing songs about slitting the pig s throat as if it were a game. In contrast, Wiglaf was very distraught over the death of his king. After Beowulf s death the soldiers set up a tower to overlook a creek and they buried jewels in his honor. Typically, Beowulf was only treated one way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shows were becoming increasingly popular, especially those that dealt with the future and the examination of the human condition. This new obsession with the future likely stemmed from the scientific advancements of the time and an interest of what might follow should it continue to progress; the heightened obsession of human nature was probably influenced by the conflicting desires to conform (think suburbs ) and establish individualism (in the form of the new and accessible statements of fashion, television, and most especially, music) as well as a fear of societies that would desire to control their people to the point that there is ... A Thousand Splendid Suns By Khaled Hosseini In Khaled Hosseini s novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, women live in an oppressive, discriminatory Afghan society in which they are deemed useless and obtain little to no rights, yet still manage to endure the burden that falls upon them. After the immensely false interpretations of her father and the bitter fatality of her mother, Mariam s father demands she marries a stranger considerably older than her at the age of fifteen. Rasheed prays daily in hopes for Laila to produce a male offspring and is exceedingly unappreciative and disrespectful when Laila produces a female instead. Rasheed and the Taliban claim it is extremely blasphemous and embarrassing for a married Afghan woman to look directly into a man s eyes, wear makeup, or display her knees so Rasheed asserts Mariam and Laila wear burqas. Women s diminished rights and limited input in society is evident when youthful Mariam unwillingly marries an outright stranger because her father and wives demands she do so. Mariam is in absolute disbelief when Jalil s wives instruct her to marry a forty five year old man immediately while Jalil watches speechlessly and approves of the arranged, instant, forced marriage. • 28. Jealousy By William Shakespeare s Proverbs In Proverbs 6:34 it is written, For jealousy makes a man furious, and he will not spare when he takes revenge. Jealousy is an emotion that often makes each of us act and react in a bad way. Some pout, some stomp the ground and shake their fist and still others yell and scream. Some people do all of these things at the same time. Revenge is an act, based on an emotion. But is it formed from the same emotion as jealousy? Or is jealous and revenge separate in formation and emotion? Many people find revenge to be an extension of jealousy, anger, envy, etc. and are therefore similar in both formation and emotion. I believe jealousy and revenge are separate emotions yet similar in formation. Jealousy is an emotion but revenge puts that emotion into action. Jealousy is an emotion tinged with feelings like anger, insecurity, fear, and resentment. (ppedia). Jealousy isn t something we can control most of the time. It is a natural, built in emotion that we all experience at some point. Most of the time jealousy comes from self pity and insecurity. Hands down, insecurity is the most common source of jealousy writes Dr. Seth Meyers in Psychology Today. Curbing our jealousy can be difficult, but it is necessary if we want to move forward and have healthy relationships. Uncontrolled jealousy often causes people to do things they wouldn t normally do. Small, self perceived insults add fuel to flame our already heightened emotions. This uncontrolled emotion can lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A cat s hearing is so good, in fact, that it can even tell the approximate size of what it is hearing. A cat also uses its ears to maintain balance. There are three fluid filled tubes lined with small hairs in a cat s ear. The fluid brushes past the small hairs and gives the cat a sense of where it is going. A cat s tail is used for balance, as well as for communication. A cat will sway its tail back and forth to balance its body. A cat will also sometimes wrap its tail around something like a tree branch to stabilize its body. You might wonder how a cat uses its tail for communication. If the cat puffs up its tail and straightens it, this is communicating fear. If its tail is relaxed, then the cat is relaxed. Cats have a significant impact in our world. • 33. Pros And Cons Of Animal Testing An animal test is any scientific experiment or test in which a live animal is forced to undergo something that is likely to cause them pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. As right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside barren cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, suffer from extreme frustration, ache with loneliness, and long to be free. The complete lack of environmental enrichment and stress of their living situation cause some animals to develop neurotic types of behavior such as incessantly spinning in circles, rocking back and forth, pulling out their own fur, and even biting themselves. They shake and cower in fear whenever someone approaches, and their blood pressure spikes dramatically. After enduring a life of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of them will be killed. There are many non animal test methods that can be used in place of test on animals. Not only are these non animal test more humane, they also have potential to be cheaper, faster, and more relevant to humans. Some of this methods are non invasive imaging techniques such as MRIs and CT scans, computer models and simulations, and stem cell and genetic testing methods.
