Greek Gods and Theogony
The Theogony of Hesoid
A dactylic hexameter poem of slightly over 1,000 lines, Theogony traces the genealogy and history of
the Greek gods. The poet Hesiod begins his song with a description of the activities of the nine Muses
in their mountain home on Mt. Helicon. He tells how they sing and celebrate the gods of the Olympian
pantheon; the Titans who came before them; and the oldest of the gods Chaos, Chronos, Gaia, Uranus,
Oceanus, Night, and others (Theogony, 2004). The Muses, Hesiod tells us, spoke to him as he tended
his flocks on the slopes of Mt. Helicon near his home. Into the shepherd they breathed a poetic voice
with the power to sing about the future and the past. They instructed the poet that, when he sang, the

The Importance Of The Indian Removal Act
In class, we participated in a role play activity, which was a re play of the congress in 1830, when the
Congress was debating over whether or not to pass the Indian Removal Act. In history, the U.S.
president and the Cherokees signed a treaty, which not only established peace and friendship between
the U.S. and the Cherokees, but also guaranteed the Cherokees right to use their land forever.
However, the peaceful and friendly relationship was broken in 1830, when the Indian Removal Act
was passed by the congress; the bill authorized the president to grant unsettled land west of
Mississippi in exchange for the lands that the Indians own currently. Although many resisted the
removal policy, many natives were eventually forced to leave their lands. Since the day the Indian
Removal Act was effective, the fate of the Cherokees were doomed approximately 4,000 Cherokees
died on the march to the west, the situation continued to worsen as they reached their relocated lands.
Throughout the debate of The Indian Removal Act in the congress, many strong and valid arguments
were made. For instance, the Cherokee group launched an attack to the Andrew Jackson
Administration group by querying the reasons of why they broke the treaty. The Andrew Jackson
Administration remained calm and they explained that the reason why that broke the treaty is solely
for the betterment of the U.S.; they argued that the importance of the nation s economy growth
outweighed the trust and friendship with

Fetal Viability
Societies and organizations around the world hold different beliefs on the question of when life
begins. Opinions range from the belief that life begins at fertilization to others that believe that life
cannot begin until the child is born (Kelly, 1995, p. 65). At the moment it is legal to have an abortion
in Great Britain up to the 24th gestation. Those in favor of abortion often suggest the debate centers
around when the fetus becomes sufficiently human to have the right, opponents believe the fetus is
never anything other than human from conception (BBC Ethics, 2014). However neither side of the
abortion debate can draw much support from simple word of mouth, legislation has taken abortion
into the hands of medical professionals to determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fetal viability is known as the point at which a fetus can survive outside of the mother s womb
(Nursing Times, 2014). The Human Fertilization and Embryology Act of 1990 states that the upper
gestation limit for legal termination is defined as the end of the 24th week of pregnancy (Magil
Cuerden, 2011, p. 753). There have always been two arguments for the 24th week limit that; that it
presents a social/political compromise taking into account public opinion and that it presents the lower
limit of fetal viability (Alan Guttmacher Institute, 1999). Those that want the abortion time limit to be
lowered argue that the survival rate of premature babies has improved since the 1990 s, the last time
the law was changed. In the last 60 years or so advances in technology have enabled women to give
birth to premature babies (Magil Cuerden, 2011, p. 641). Those that want the abortion limit to be
lowered argue that the survival rate of premature has improved since 1990. According to them medical
science and technology have made it easier for premature babies born between 21 22 weeks and six
days to be saved and viability is now set at 19weeks (Acred, 2012, p. 21)

The main focus is on the United States military bomb disposal unit but something that stood out is the
architectural aspect in the movie. There are numerous components in the film that give an extremely
valid feel of the setting. In the film, the structures all seem as though they are from the Middle East,
shrouded in dried mud, and is demonstrated within many scenes which gives the possibility of a nation
that is living in neediness and poverty. The traditional Baghdad house, commonly arranged on a
swarmed confine street, has latticed windows and an open interior porch. The environment is
sweltering and dry in summer, cool and wet in winter. Spring and fall are brief however great. Among
May and September the typical step by step most outrageous temperature accomplishes the low 100s F

reason I believe that this movie is correct with the historical significance for this

Dichotomy
Investigation:
The Dichotomy or also Achilles and Tortoise Paradox: Introducing the first paradox Achilles and the
Tortoise . This paradox is very similar to the idea of the Dichotomy so by explaining the example of
Achilles and the Tortoise both will be covered. Zeno came up with the idea of the Dichotomy, which
means dividing by two. As an example for this he came up with the example of a character called
Achilles. One day Achilles and a tortoise had a speed race against each other. Obviously the tortoise is
much slower to Achilles was so modest to allow him to have a head start of 100 meters. As Zeno and
Aristoteles says, when the race starts Achilles has to catch up with the tortoise so he sprints. While this
is happening he is halving the distance towards the tortoise. There is no problem here because
assuming no acceleration or deceleration, he is always going to half the distance as shown on this
picture:
Assuming that Achilles is running at 10meters per second (m/s) one can logically say that ... Show

As with Achilles and a tortoise this one even further stresses the idea that motion is just an illusion. In
this example Zeno assumes that time, in his definition, is only made up of a series of moments . In this
paradox one arrow, just a regular arrow, has been shot or is just simply in motion. Zeno himself states
that with his paradox, no motion is occurring while the arrow is in motion. This is because he assumes
that for each instance of time, which can be broken up into small intervals as defined earlier by him,
no movement occurs. Again explaining this more in detail, he is saying that because of all these
moments occurring and being able to divide these up into smaller intervals which then ultimately lead
to the point where the arrow is not moving at all because time has moments and no movement occurs
in that moment of time. This is why Zeno claims that the arrow is not moving at

Motifs In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
From the Darkness... The novel Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse uses many motifs to progresses and
elaborate on the story. One important motif in the novel is the use of light and dark. This motif
highlights the knowledge and the ignorance as well as the quest for spiritual peace and understanding.
Siddhartha uses the light and dark motif to further demonstrate Siddhartha s intellectual and spiritual
growth throughout his journey. Siddhartha begins in both dark and light. His childhood is both in the
shade of the house...of the sallow wood and in the sunshine on the river bank , with the sun
[browning] his slender shoulders(3). There seems to be balance in his life between dark and light,
shade and sun, knowledge and ignorance, since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His life grows more and more grim, every month a little darker (78). This shift towards lack of light
shows a lack of knowledge. The life of a rich man doesn t hold the knowledge or the peace Siddhartha
wants. That life left him empty which is shown by the darkness that is encroaching upon him day after
day. That life threatens what he had learned before. He is forgetting which why it is continuously
getting darker. A little bit darker each day, each time he gambles and spend money . The light in him is
going out and there is nothing to replace it except for emptiness as shown by the increasing darkness
in him. The darkness is starting to win. However, hope is not lost and Siddhartha begins searching for
the light again. The river speaks to him and his smile began to resemble the ferryman s, was almost
equally as radiant...equally lighting up through a thousand little wrinkles (108). Light is once again
used as a positive force. As he becomes more at peace and all knowing he becomes full of light. The
light in his smile here shows a progression in his journey from the boy in the shade of the house (3), to
a man full of luminosity from his knowledge of the world. From the darkness and into the

7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Essay
Throughout Sean Covey s Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, I found myself questioning what I
could do to integrate his habits into my life. Would working with my enemies benefit me, as it did the
teens in Covey s Habit 4 chapter? Would this be a better essay had I started a week earlier and
prioritized like Habit 3 told me to? With these questions and others in mind, I ventured through Covey
s novel in constant fear that I would realize that I was doing yet another thing wrong. This fear was
well deserved, as half of the book caused me to think about my own procrastination, inability to work
with others, and win lose attitude. The fact of the matter is, I have been told these things before;

Jealousy In Othello Research Paper
The comparison of jealousy with Iago and in real life
William Shakespeare, English literature, most influential writer. Shakespeare finish grammar school,
but did not further his education. When Shakespeare family moved to England, he eventually became
most popular playwright in England and a part owner a theater. Shakespeare produced a tragedy
Othello witch gave us a clear understanding on jealousy. There are five different types of jealousy:
Romantic, Work or Power, Friend, and Abnormal jealousy. Iago used these different types of jealousy
to manipulate the people around him and the same thing happens in our world today.
Feeling or showing envy of someone is a clear understanding of jealousy. Iago, a good friend of
Othello, he is not who he appears to be. He is a very manipulative person to the people around him.
Iago used jealousy against the different characters; however, he tries to make Othello believe that
Desdemona was cheating on him with Cassio. Iago creates an opportunity to set up Cassio with
Desdemona handkerchief. Othello, desperately swinging between belief in his wife s innocence and
conviction of her guilt, pleads for visible proof. I ll see before I doubt, he cried. (Review) Therefore,

Machiavelli s Role In Political Philosophy
This paper presents the role played by political philosophy in the development of political science and
political theory. The writer argues that political philosophy served as the foundation in the
development of political theory and political science, and that the shifts in theory and practice have
legitimized the importance of political philosophy. The writer uses examples in arguing how political
philosophy s role was crucial in the development of political theory and in turn, political science.
Likewise, the status of political philosophy along with the shifts in theory and practice is also
discussed.
Political science is a discipline, an art, and a branch of instruction or study which deals with the
systems of government while later developing to also cover the study of political phenomena and
political behavior of people (Goodin Klingemann, 1998). Political theory aims more to describe
situations and also to prescribe what would work; it is composed (but not entirely) of many isms or

Machiavelli s discussion already had the elements of political theory. This is because he already had
described the different types of state, and proposed a type of leadership considering only what would

ideal, Machiavelli focused more on what is practical and what would yield results that are in the
interests of the state. This supports the writer s claim that political philosophy is the foundation of the
formation of political theory and political science because Machiavelli s developed political theory
was still founded upon his political philosophy that required strong

Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
In William Shakespeare s tragedy Othello , jealousy is conveyed by the handkerchief, a symbol that
adds to the importance of the work all in all.
William Shakespeare utilizes images as a part of Othello to speak to numerous things, in the endless
cluster of images utilized all through the play the handkerchief is one of the principle objects used to
mean desire and envy. The cloth contains an alternate significance relying upon the character in the

her unfaithfulness. For instance, in act III scene IV Othello states I have a salt and sorry rheum

Essay about Morality in Richard III by William Shakespeare
Morality in Richard III by William Shakespeare In Richard III, Shakespeare invites us on moral
holiday. The early part of the play draws its readers to identify with Richard and thereby to participate
in a fantasy of total control of self and domination of others. We begin to be pulled into the fantasy in
the play s opening speech, where Richard presents himself as an enterprising, self made villain and
offers an elaborate justification for this self he renovation. In the first scene of the play, Richard
announces in a narration, his plan to become king. Richard is truly a Machiavel. A Machiavel is one

A villain must also have scapegoats to use if he is discovered or if he is in a dangerous situation .
Richard devised a brutal stratagem to ascend the English throne. Brilliantly, he executed his plan.
Heartlessly, he executed family, friends, and subjects. Richard did indeed display these characteristics
and, therefore, fulfilled his goal to ascend the throne. One of many Richard s brilliant schemes was to
increase public support for his own claim to the crown. Richard, aided by Buckingham, enacts shows
of devotion, kindness, religiousness and other virtues, which recommend him to the citizenry and
especially to the Lord Mayor and aldermen of London. This done, he finally wins the mayor and the
alderman over and receives the offer to the supreme seat, the throne majestically, the scepter office of
his ancestors themselves, the lineal glory of his royal house . After some false persuasion by the Duke
of Buckingham, Richard finally accepts the golden yoke of sovereignty. Some Critics feel that not all
of Richard s victims were innocent, they were hypocritical and were trying to use Richard, but that is
another topic. Richard is, simply, too clever to be outwitted. As a king, Richard did not succeed. He

what is going to happen with him. Nobody believes Cole anymore, so it is quite logical that he has to
go to prison. Somehow, Garvey and Edwin found a way that he could go back to the island. Cole went
back to the island together with Garvey and Edwin who will stay a few days with him. He has to start
all over again, also with building his own shelter again. They ate a hotdog for a celebration for being
alive. Cole is thinking a lot, especially about his past and his future. He goes together with Edwin to
an ice
cold stream. Edwin knows that Cole s anger is still a big issue. He tells him something about the
two sides of a stick, you can compare this with anger. Cole has made a new shelter and is taught how
to dance the whale dance.

The Outsides And The Wednesday Wars And The Outsiders
People with normal names live a privileged life. If your first name is something like James or Emma
and your last name is something like Jones or Williams then you have no idea what it s like to have a
name that is unusual or original. However, the main characters from the novels The Outsiders and The
Wednesday Wars know this feeling too well. Imagine having the name Ponyboy Curtis, or Holling
Hoodhood because you could definitely have some trouble fitting in being called by a name like that.
The Wednesday Wars is about a 13 year old boy growing up in Long Island during the late 1960 s
living through all the politics and opinions in the year but also dealing with small middle schooler
problems like having to wear tights in a play and getting bullied by the big kids . The outsiders is
about a 14 year old boy growing up in Tesla, Oklahoma also during the late 1960 s. However, in this
story the kid doesn t talk about politics at all, instead he talks about his life struggles and real
problems like the death of his parents, living a poor life where his two big brothers have to work jobs
and not go to school to support them, and his brotherhood with the boys in their gang called the
greasers. However, these two boys, despite having very different upbringings definitely have a few
things in common, starting with their unique names. Imagine trying to live a perfect suburban life and
having the last name Hoodhood. Or trying to be tough to stay alive but the first name

Symptoms Of A Foodborne Illness
A foodborne illness is an infection or poisoning caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemicals
whose mode of transmission is by food. A foodborne outbreak is an illness event that typically
includes two or more people infected from the same food.1 Causative agent: Norovirus. Reported to
CDC were three norovirus outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) that occurred on college campuses
in California, Michigan, and Wisconsin during fall 2008. College campuses are at particularly high
risk for norovirus outbreaks because of the large volume of students living in small, crowded
dormitories.2
Pathophysiology of Noroviruses: Noroviruses are a group of nonenveloped, single stranded, RNA
viruses categorized into the genus Norovirus of the family Caliciviridae. 3 Noroviruses can be divided
into at least five genogroups, GI GV; since 2001, GII.4 viruses have been linked with the bulk of viral
gastroenteritis outbreaks worldwide. 3 The virus replicates in the small intestine. Even when
symptoms might be severe, they most likely cease without treatment after 1 3 days in normally healthy
persons after a 12 48 hour incubation period.3 The virion RNA is contagious and serves as both
genome and viral messenger RNA. The enzyme cysteine proteinase catalyzes the cleavage of ORF1
polyprotein which yields the mature nonstructural proteins. 4 Norovirus is

Why Is American Samoa s Unhealthy Culture
In contrast, American Samoa is the country with the highest obesity rate, with 74.9% of the total
population classified as obese. The country has cultivated an unhealthy culture. Since most healthy
and natural ingredients are imported from other countries to the island, they are often more expensive.
Fast food restaurants offer cheaper, more easily accessible alternatives. In addition, the traditional
foods of the islands such as fresh fish, meat, and local fruits and vegetables have been replaced by
rice, sugar, flour, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, soft drinks and beer. The diet is high in
calories and with little nutritional value. According to cdc.gov, research shows that actions to promote
healthy eating, such as providing calorie information, were rare among restaurants. This site ... Show

However, in both grocery and convenience stores, several of the healthier option items were more
expensive than the corresponding regular (less healthy) option items. The majority of both providers
also had signs/displays that encouraged less healthy eating (e.g., promotional signs encouraging
purchase of canned corned beef). In addition, costs of healthier items were more expensive than less
healthy items in American Samoa restaurants. Healthier entrées and side items were more expensive
than the less healthy entrées and side items. There were also minimal efforts to promote healthy
eating, such as providing calorie or other nutrition information, identifying healthy items with menu
labeling on menus, and having menu notations that encourage healthy requests. The absence of
government intervention, regulation, and public awareness in relation to the rate of obesity and levels
of nutrition suggests a correlation between the efforts of food providers and healthy

Veeteran s Day Never Forget Their Duty Analysis
What characteristics do you think constitutes an American? Is it self pride? No, it is pride for personal
heritage, the heritage of other and the willingness to accept and overcome the differences between
them. It s the way we show and appreciate every single individual no matter their race or the language
they speak. An American is not defined by where you come from, but rather by the qualities of
acceptance, tolerance, and determination. America is the melting pot of the world where different
cultures are co mingled and accepted by many. John McCain emphasizes the importance of working
for each other, not yourself in Veteran s Day Never Forget Their Duty. Provide for people who want to
work and succeed. It is no secret America is known to be a wealthy country where hard working
individuals can prosper, but if faced with difficult situations and hard times, other Americans will be
there to support you. Returning war veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) receiving

Its top competitors, JPMorgan Chase Co, Bank of America, and CITIGROUP inc, all worked towards
building its net income and assets. Currently, JPMorgan is leading Wells Fargo in ranking, however
last year Wells Fargo was on top. The decrease in business came from the direct effect of the scandal.
The company is now working towards moving forward and reaching the top in the banking industry.
Moreover, the company s network is shrinking due to an increase in technology. With online and
mobile banking, there has become a decline in the need for so many banks. As said by CNNMoney, 84
locations were drop in the year 2016 and they expect to cut 300 more by 2018. It s part of a broader
Wells Fargo plan to save about $2 billion a year by the end of next year (Eagan, 2017). This will help
repair, what they lost from the scandal. However, they are not the only company that has been closing
banks. This is happening throughout the entire industry. Also, Wells Fargo will not layoff all its
employees, many will be able to transfer to a new location.
Wells Fargo would be an incredible company to work for and represent. The company s distinct values
and culture make it an excellent work environment for team members and leaders. This company may
have its up and downs, but it still displays true passion for putting customers first and team

Negligence And Its Impact On Society
Negligence is a tort that is a major focus point in how people and organizations interact with each
other. How the tort of negligence developed is critical for understanding who is held accountable
when a civil wrong has occurred. Negligence focuses on three basic elements: a duty of care, a breach
of said duty, and causation of damage. The goal of this assessment is to examine the development of
these three elements of negligence tort law in England, and hopefully explain its significance in how it
affects society. First, a duty of care must be established for a legitimate negligence claim. The concept
of a duty of care is that it demonstrates the defendant (the one wrongdoer) had some sort of
responsibility to take care of the claimant (the wronged party who is bringing forth the claim). In
English law, the landmark case that conceived the idea of establishing a duty of care was Donoghue v
Stevenson (1932 UKHL 100), a case involving a woman who drank a bottle of ginger beer and found
a dead snail in the bottle, thus bringing suit against the manufacturer. The House of Lords ruled in the
claimant s favor, stating the manufacturer does owe a duty of care to the consumer. Arguably the most
integral part of the ruling in Donoghue is where Lord Atkin states:
You must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would be
likely to injure your neighbor. Who, then, in law is my neighbor? The answer seems to be persons who
are so closely and

Rome s Construction Of The Amphitheater
Amphitheater. Rome s construction of the amphitheater, began in the Second century AD (Figure 3;
Matova and Aliaj, 2006:280; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3; UNESCO, 2004:34. The arena and Roman baths
built during this period were centrally located within the city (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:571; Bowes
et al., 2003:382; Karaiskaj, 2004:13; UNESCO, 2004:34). Local topography played a part in deciding
where the stadium would be built. Roman engineers made use of a hillside on the northern part of the
arena, whereas the southern half of the auditorium was on lower ground. Roman vaults and piers held
up this section of the amphitheater (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:571; Bowes et al., 2003:382; Matova

It is believed that this amphitheater was able to hold 15,000 20,000 spectators, indicating Dyrrachium
s population to be approximately 30,000 during Roman rule (Matova and Aliaj, 2006:280; Molla,
2014:31; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3; Puka and Beshiri, 2011:6; UNESCO, 2004:34)
After Rome s decline in 378 AD (Wilkes, 1992:265), parts of the amphitheater were restructured and
used as chapels. The main sanctuary was built into the alcove, which originally housed the pulvinar
(elevated imperial box) and vomitorium. Byzantine mosaics and frescos indicate that these chapels
were created during the fifth century AD (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574 575; Isufi, 2006:11; Jacques,
1995:154; Karaiskaj, 2004:13; UNESCO, 2004:35 37). A second chapel and possible third were built
on the north side of the stadium (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et al., 2003:392). Sometime
during the seventh century, the arena began to be used as a graveyard, known as the necropolis. There
are also several Byzantine art forms, dating from the ninth through eleventh centuries (Bowes and
Mitchell, 2009:581; Bowes et al., 2003:391 392; Jacques, 1995:154 155; UNESCO, 2004:36 37). At
some point during the Middle Ages, the cemetery ceased to be used by the inhabitants of Dyrrachium
(Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et al., 2003:388 389).

Growing Rate Of Incoming Streaming Data Essay
1.4.5 SCALABILITY
Growing rate of incoming streaming data is indefinite. Even though the arrival rate of update
transactions are not predefined, system processor has to adapt the stream data flow as it grows
continuously. Adaptive Stream Query Processor is designed and implemented to execute continuous
queries and to adapt indefinite data flow by clustering, proper indexing so as to reduce the storage
space and fast retrieval of streaming data.
STREAM PROCESSOR
Streaming processing is the ideal platform to process data streams. Stream processing is designed to
analyze and act on real time streaming data, using continuous queries i.e. SQL type queries that
operate over time and buffer windows. Essential to stream analytics is Stream Processing, or the
ability to continuously calculate mathematical or statistical analytics on the fly within the stream.
Stream processing solutions are designed to handle high volume in real time with a scalable, highly
available and fault tolerant architecture. This enables analysis of data in motion. Finally query
processing is used to retrieve useful information from the stream data.
A Stream Query Processor is proposed to achieve fast retrieval of streaming data. Stream Query
Processor architecture is represented in Fig. 1.2. volume Figure 1.2 Stream Processor Input data are
arriving as stream continuously. The incoming data are time variant and embedded with timestamp.
Hence, timestamp is used as one of the attribute along with

Fico Score Research Paper
There are a lot of different credit scores that you may see from your FICO scores, to your Credit
Karma score, to a score provided by your credit card. The three credit bureaus created VantageScore®,
which is another credit system that produces credit scores and gives a letter grade based on the
numeric range. With all of these companies offering credit scores, how do you know which one is
right?
Unfortunately, there is no one right credit score. This is because you have several credit scores you
don t have just one credit score.
It s impossible to know which credit score your lender will use. Often, lenders rely on a FICO score
from TransUnion, Experian, or Equifax. But it s not fair to say that all other scores are FAKO scores a

For example, your credit card company could include a free credit score on your monthly bill that
shows a 750 score based on TransUnion information but when you actual buy your TransUnion score,
you could see a score of 780. This would not be unusual.
As if that s not enough variation, you can also have different FICO scores between each of the three
credit agencies (TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax). If your FICO scores vary significantly from
each of the agencies, it is likely that the underlying information on your credit reports varies in a
significant way. If this is the case, check your credit reports to compare the information between each
of the agencies.
Because you can only get your FICO credit score by paying for it, you may want to rely on one of the
other methods of getting your credit score more frequently (such as through Credit Karma or your
credit card company). Not only that, but you don t know (and can t know) which score a lender will
look at. For these reasons, you may want to continue to monitor your non FICO scores.

Chemical Digestion Research Paper
The mouth does both mechanical digestion and chemical digestion. Mechanically, your incisors cut
food into small pieces, next your canines make the food pieces even smaller, than premolars and
molars crush and grind the food, finally saliva moistens the food to a slippery mass. Saliva contains
enzymes which speed the chemical reaction in the body, this part is the chemical digestion. Your
mouth is the first in your digestive system.
Your esophagus connects your mouth to your stomach. It is made of smooth muscle that pushes your
food to the stomach and is lined with mucus that makes food be easier to swallow and move along.
Food stays in your esophagus for about 10 seconds and is located in your throat.
The stomach is located in the abdomen and mechanically and chemically break down food.
Mechanically, three strong layers of muscles contract and turn your food. Chemically, the lining in the
stomach produces digestive juice that digests proteins with an enzyme called pepsin. It also produces
hydrochloric acid that pepsin works best in and it kills bacteria in your food. Your stomach produces
mucus that protects the stomach lining from the acid. Damaged or worn out cells are quickly replaced.

Border Security and Transatlantic Counter-Terrorism Measures
Border Security and Transatlantic Counter Terrorism Measures
ABSTRACT: The United States and the European Union share common values, economic interests,
and security challenges. The expansion of the European Union into the countries which were under the
Soviet sphere of influence continues to complicate the internal border security of the European Union.
Given the liberalization of trade within the EU and in turn into the US, the port and border security of
each trading partner is connected in this global economy. This paper examines some of the border
security issues facing the EU and how these challenges affect the United States. Particular interest is
paid to the porous borders of the former Warsaw Pact countries given their ... Show more content on

The United States created a more protective stance on homeland security after the terrorist attacks in
2001. This defensive mentality has effected allies and enemies alike and placed more stringent
security barriers at America s gates. The changing global environment created by these terrorist
activities has challenged the transatlantic relationship and its ability to produce effective counter
measures. Cooperation between the US and the EU in this arena is critical to the security and
economic prosperity of both regions. The EU s limited executive authority over Justice and Homeland
Affairs presents obstacles to the equal implementation of counter terrorism measures throughout the
Union.
COUNTER TERRORISM MEASURES
The US has enacted new counter terrorism measures since the attacks of 2001. Several of these
measures affect the travel standards and economic interaction with allied nations. The developments
of the Security Container Initiative, the Passenger Name Record exchange, and the freezing of
terrorist financial networks have created opportunities for both cooperation and conflict between the
US and the EU. The declarations from the US EU Summit in Ireland on counter terrorism measures
provide only part of the solution. The EU must also develop and utilize the executive power required
to ensure equal implementation across the union.

Elvis s Impact On Popular Culture
Elvis s Impact on Popular Culture The foundations of today s popular music were built by an unlikely
source: a poor white boy from Tupelo, Mississippi. Elvis Presley s country roots would become a
major factor in his success as the King of Rock and Roll. While it is true that Elvis was not the
inventor of rock and roll music, he was the first man to introduce postwar youth to the genre that
would revolutionize American culture. The role Elvis Presley played in the evolution of popular music
is unprecedented. His style has been impersonated, and his music is still revered by young people all
over the world. Elvis s impact can be understood through the music he performed, his status as a pop
icon, and the lingering presence of his legacy in today s society. The cultural importance of rock and
roll has been long lasting. From the early 1950s until now, rock has been the vehicle of expression for
many around the world. It has been the voice of rebellion, political justice, and sexual revolution.
Generation after generation, rock music evolves, yet keeps its values intact. To many, rock music is an
essential element of culture. Elvis was the embodiment of rock and roll and, therefore, a significant
part of 20th century culture. When Elvis first appeared in the consciousness of America, rock and roll
was still a new kind of music. A few successful ventures, such as Bill Haley and His Comets Rock
Around The Clock, hailed as one of the first songs of the genre, preceded Elvis s

Dan Buettner s Chapter On Singapore
Dan Buettner s chapter on Singapore was very interesting, especially when comparing it to our
American way of life. At first glance the idea of living in a country with very strict laws, such as
public canings for what we would call a minor offense, was mind blowing to me. How could this be
one of the happiest places in the world? Upon further study my mind was changed to some degree, in
fact I could see myself visiting there some day, but only have studing on the most current laws. I think
the United States would be better off if we as a nation thought more about how our individual actions
affected those around us. If you were to visit Singapore, it is highly advised that you first take time
and review both their customs and strict laws. This country is not like any other country you have
been to before. From the time you arrive at Changi International Airport, this difference is very
apparent. You will see go through customs and or immigration, normal and typical when arriving to a
new country, but that is where the similarities end. You will see numerous signs warning you of the
public laws, that you are expected to obey without question. No photography, smoking, or gum
chewing is allowed (Buettner, 2011, p. 75). Think for a minute how odd this might be. You have just
arrived as a visitor and you cannot chew gum and you are not allowed to take photographs!? After
some further research I have found that this law of gum chewing has been modified to some degree.

The Importance Of The Indian Removal Act In class, we participated in a role play activity, which was a re play of the congress in 1830, when the Congress was debating over whether or not to pass the Indian Removal Act. In history, the U.S. president and the Cherokees signed a treaty, which not only established peace and friendship between the U.S. and the Cherokees, but also guaranteed the Cherokees right to use their land forever. However, the peaceful and friendly relationship was broken in 1830, when the Indian Removal Act was passed by the congress; the bill authorized the president to grant unsettled land west of Mississippi in exchange for the lands that the Indians own currently. Those in favor of abortion often suggest the debate centers around when the fetus becomes sufficiently human to have the right, opponents believe the fetus is never anything other than human from conception (BBC Ethics, 2014). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fetal viability is known as the point at which a fetus can survive outside of the mother s womb (Nursing Times, 2014). The Human Fertilization and Embryology Act of 1990 states that the upper gestation limit for legal termination is defined as the end of the 24th week of pregnancy (Magil Cuerden, 2011, p. 753). There have always been two arguments for the 24th week limit that; that it presents a social/political compromise taking into account public opinion and that it presents the lower limit of fetal viability (Alan Guttmacher Institute, 1999). • 8. Dichotomy Investigation: The Dichotomy or also Achilles and Tortoise Paradox: Introducing the first paradox Achilles and the Tortoise . This paradox is very similar to the idea of the Dichotomy so by explaining the example of Achilles and the Tortoise both will be covered. Zeno came up with the idea of the Dichotomy, which means dividing by two. As an example for this he came up with the example of a character called Achilles. One day Achilles and a tortoise had a speed race against each other. Obviously the tortoise is much slower to Achilles was so modest to allow him to have a head start of 100 meters. As Zeno and Aristoteles says, when the race starts Achilles has to catch up with the tortoise so he sprints. While this is happening he is halving the distance towards the tortoise. There is no problem here because assuming no acceleration or deceleration, he is always going to half the distance as shown on this picture: Assuming that Achilles is running at 10meters per second (m/s) one can logically say that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As with Achilles and a tortoise this one even further stresses the idea that motion is just an illusion. In this example Zeno assumes that time, in his definition, is only made up of a series of moments . In this paradox one arrow, just a regular arrow, has been shot or is just simply in motion. Zeno himself states that with his paradox, no motion is occurring while the arrow is in motion. This is because he assumes that for each instance of time, which can be broken up into small intervals as defined earlier by him, no movement occurs. Again explaining this more in detail, he is saying that because of all these moments occurring and being able to divide these up into smaller intervals which then ultimately lead to the point where the arrow is not moving at all because time has moments and no movement occurs in that moment of time. This is why Zeno claims that the arrow is not moving at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of many Richard s brilliant schemes was to increase public support for his own claim to the crown. Richard, aided by Buckingham, enacts shows of devotion, kindness, religiousness and other virtues, which recommend him to the citizenry and especially to the Lord Mayor and aldermen of London. • 25. Negligence And Its Impact On Society Negligence is a tort that is a major focus point in how people and organizations interact with each other. How the tort of negligence developed is critical for understanding who is held accountable when a civil wrong has occurred. Negligence focuses on three basic elements: a duty of care, a breach of said duty, and causation of damage. The goal of this assessment is to examine the development of these three elements of negligence tort law in England, and hopefully explain its significance in how it affects society. First, a duty of care must be established for a legitimate negligence claim. The concept of a duty of care is that it demonstrates the defendant (the one wrongdoer) had some sort of responsibility to take care of the claimant (the wronged party who is bringing forth the claim). In English law, the landmark case that conceived the idea of establishing a duty of care was Donoghue v Stevenson (1932 UKHL 100), a case involving a woman who drank a bottle of ginger beer and found a dead snail in the bottle, thus bringing suit against the manufacturer. The House of Lords ruled in the claimant s favor, stating the manufacturer does owe a duty of care to the consumer. Arguably the most integral part of the ruling in Donoghue is where Lord Atkin states: You must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would be likely to injure your neighbor. Who, then, in law is my neighbor? The answer seems to be persons who are so closely and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main sanctuary was built into the alcove, which originally housed the pulvinar (elevated imperial box) and vomitorium. Byzantine mosaics and frescos indicate that these chapels were created during the fifth century AD (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574 575; Isufi, 2006:11; Jacques, 1995:154; Karaiskaj, 2004:13; UNESCO, 2004:35 37). A second chapel and possible third were built on the north side of the stadium (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et al., 2003:392). Sometime during the seventh century, the arena began to be used as a graveyard, known as the necropolis. There are also several Byzantine art forms, dating from the ninth through eleventh centuries (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:581; Bowes et al., 2003:391 392; Jacques, 1995:154 155; UNESCO, 2004:36 37). At some point during the Middle Ages, the cemetery ceased to be used by the inhabitants of Dyrrachium (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et al., 2003:388 389). The last known ... • 27. Growing Rate Of Incoming Streaming Data Essay 1.4.5 SCALABILITY Growing rate of incoming streaming data is indefinite. Even though the arrival rate of update transactions are not predefined, system processor has to adapt the stream data flow as it grows continuously. Adaptive Stream Query Processor is designed and implemented to execute continuous queries and to adapt indefinite data flow by clustering, proper indexing so as to reduce the storage space and fast retrieval of streaming data. STREAM PROCESSOR Streaming processing is the ideal platform to process data streams. Stream processing is designed to analyze and act on real time streaming data, using continuous queries i.e. SQL type queries that operate over time and buffer windows. Essential to stream analytics is Stream Processing, or the ability to continuously calculate mathematical or statistical analytics on the fly within the stream. Stream processing solutions are designed to handle high volume in real time with a scalable, highly available and fault tolerant architecture. This enables analysis of data in motion. Finally query processing is used to retrieve useful information from the stream data. A Stream Query Processor is proposed to achieve fast retrieval of streaming data. Stream Query Processor architecture is represented in Fig. 1.2. volume Figure 1.2 Stream Processor Input data are arriving as stream continuously. The incoming data are time variant and embedded with timestamp. Hence, timestamp is used as one of the attribute along with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Fico Score Research Paper There are a lot of different credit scores that you may see from your FICO scores, to your Credit Karma score, to a score provided by your credit card. The three credit bureaus created VantageScore®, which is another credit system that produces credit scores and gives a letter grade based on the numeric range. With all of these companies offering credit scores, how do you know which one is right? Unfortunately, there is no one right credit score. This is because you have several credit scores you don t have just one credit score. It s impossible to know which credit score your lender will use. Often, lenders rely on a FICO score from TransUnion, Experian, or Equifax. But it s not fair to say that all other scores are FAKO scores a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, your credit card company could include a free credit score on your monthly bill that shows a 750 score based on TransUnion information but when you actual buy your TransUnion score, you could see a score of 780. This would not be unusual. As if that s not enough variation, you can also have different FICO scores between each of the three credit agencies (TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax). If your FICO scores vary significantly from each of the agencies, it is likely that the underlying information on your credit reports varies in a significant way. If this is the case, check your credit reports to compare the information between each of the agencies. Because you can only get your FICO credit score by paying for it, you may want to rely on one of the other methods of getting your credit score more frequently (such as through Credit Karma or your credit card company). Not only that, but you don t know (and can t know) which score a lender will look at. For these reasons, you may want to continue to monitor your non FICO scores. Which Credit Score Should You ... • 29. Chemical Digestion Research Paper The mouth does both mechanical digestion and chemical digestion. Mechanically, your incisors cut food into small pieces, next your canines make the food pieces even smaller, than premolars and molars crush and grind the food, finally saliva moistens the food to a slippery mass. Saliva contains enzymes which speed the chemical reaction in the body, this part is the chemical digestion. Your mouth is the first in your digestive system. Your esophagus connects your mouth to your stomach. It is made of smooth muscle that pushes your food to the stomach and is lined with mucus that makes food be easier to swallow and move along. Food stays in your esophagus for about 10 seconds and is located in your throat. The stomach is located in the abdomen and mechanically and chemically break down food. Mechanically, three strong layers of muscles contract and turn your food. Chemically, the lining in the stomach produces digestive juice that digests proteins with an enzyme called pepsin. It also produces hydrochloric acid that pepsin works best in and it kills bacteria in your food. Your stomach produces mucus that protects the stomach lining from the acid. • 30. Border Security and Transatlantic Counter-Terrorism Measures Border Security and Transatlantic Counter Terrorism Measures ABSTRACT: The United States and the European Union share common values, economic interests, and security challenges. The expansion of the European Union into the countries which were under the Soviet sphere of influence continues to complicate the internal border security of the European Union. Given the liberalization of trade within the EU and in turn into the US, the port and border security of each trading partner is connected in this global economy. This paper examines some of the border security issues facing the EU and how these challenges affect the United States. Particular interest is paid to the porous borders of the former Warsaw Pact countries given their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States created a more protective stance on homeland security after the terrorist attacks in 2001. This defensive mentality has effected allies and enemies alike and placed more stringent security barriers at America s gates. The changing global environment created by these terrorist activities has challenged the transatlantic relationship and its ability to produce effective counter measures. Cooperation between the US and the EU in this arena is critical to the security and economic prosperity of both regions. The EU s limited executive authority over Justice and Homeland Affairs presents obstacles to the equal implementation of counter terrorism measures throughout the Union. COUNTER TERRORISM MEASURES The US has enacted new counter terrorism measures since the attacks of 2001. Several of these measures affect the travel standards and economic interaction with allied nations. The developments of the Security Container Initiative, the Passenger Name Record exchange, and the freezing of terrorist financial networks have created opportunities for both cooperation and conflict between the US and the EU. The declarations from the US EU Summit in Ireland on counter terrorism measures provide only part of the solution. The EU must also develop and utilize the executive power required to ensure equal implementation across the union. Container ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Dan Buettner s Chapter On Singapore Dan Buettner s chapter on Singapore was very interesting, especially when comparing it to our American way of life. At first glance the idea of living in a country with very strict laws, such as public canings for what we would call a minor offense, was mind blowing to me. How could this be one of the happiest places in the world? Upon further study my mind was changed to some degree, in fact I could see myself visiting there some day, but only have studing on the most current laws. I think the United States would be better off if we as a nation thought more about how our individual actions affected those around us. If you were to visit Singapore, it is highly advised that you first take time and review both their customs and strict laws. This country is not like any other country you have been to before. From the time you arrive at Changi International Airport, this difference is very apparent. You will see go through customs and or immigration, normal and typical when arriving to a new country, but that is where the similarities end. You will see numerous signs warning you of the public laws, that you are expected to obey without question. No photography, smoking, or gum chewing is allowed (Buettner, 2011, p. 75). Think for a minute how odd this might be. You have just arrived as a visitor and you cannot chew gum and you are not allowed to take photographs!? After some further research I have found that this law of gum chewing has been modified to some degree. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
