Peyote And The Native American Church. Peyote Is A Narcotic
Peyote and the Native American Church Peyote is a narcotic cactus plant that has been used in
both religious and healing ceremonies of Native Americans for thousands of years. Peyote is
considered safe by a majority of Native Americans, but also vastly important to their religious
heritage. Not only is it considered historically important but the use of peyote is central to many
beliefs of modern Pan Indianism. Interestingly, the more popular peyote became among Native
American tribes, the more of a concern it became to the US Government and this strange
correlation of tribe use vs. government concern forces us to ask why peyote has become such a
central point of conflict. This essay will attempt to answer that question and show why the... Show

Quanah Parker, the credited founder of the Native American Church, adopted the peyote religion
after he suffered a near death experience fighting federal troops. He claims that Jesus Christ came
to him and told him that he needed to take the peyote religion to the Indian Peoples to atone for
his many killings and misdeeds (Toquerville). The establishment of the Native American Church
allowed the use of peyote for religious uses and for many it provided a powerful alternative to
both ancient tribal religions and missionary controlled versions of Christianity which caused it
spread like wildfire across tribes (Fikes). Faced with the suppression of many traditional rituals
from the US Government, many Native Americans took solace in peyote ceremonies because they
took place quietly and they were protected under the law (Toquerville). It was not just Native
Americans that took part in these ceremonies. In 1956, Saskatoon Star Phoenix featured an article
in which white men experienced peyote rites and one of the observers remarked that peyote
ceremonies offer a tremendous religious experience that intensify the awareness of God. He also
said that they provide an enormous cohesive force for the American Indian when they have had
nothing to unify behind in a long time (Dyck). Just like all other Native

The Electronic Health Record
1.Title
2.The electronic health record is the electronic version of a patients medical chart (Centers for
Medicare Medicaid Services, 2012). The information included in the electronic health record is the
patient s demographics and clinical health information, medical history, list of health problems,
progress notes, medications, vital signs, laboratory and radiology reports, and physician orders. The
purpose of the electronic health record is to prevent medical errors and improve care delivery to
provide a safer patient environment (McGonigle Mastrian, 2015).
3.EHRs has been known to be a problem for some physicians or healthcare providers despite of the
advantages. Because of this system physicians are forced to perform some time consuming tasks
that could be assigned to someone with lesser qualification, which creates more work for the
physicians. Physicians described poor Electronic Health Record (EHR) usability that did not match
clinical workflows, time consuming data entry, interference with face to face patient care, and
overwhelming numbers of electronic messages and alerts (Friedberg, Crosson, Tutty). Another
issue that was reported is that there are a lot of electronic alerts and people also could potentially
misuse the template based notes which is pre formatted and computer generated.
4.The use of Electronic Health Record can be very dangerous to patient care and safety when
wrongly document as information stored in the system are considered to be

Rebecca Krieger Cottingham Cold War
Part A
Interview details of Rebecca Krieger Cottingham:
Rebecca Krieger Cottingham
Born in 1963
Has lived in the following places between 1963 and 1989: Batesville, Indiana; Tucson, Arizona;
Bloomington, Indiana; Singapore; Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C.
This interview was done on July 17, 2016, at 6:00 pm
Part B
Me: Thank you for allowing me to interview you. I would like to ask you about the subject of the
Cold War. At the end, I will also be asking a couple personal questions.
Question 1: What was the first time you remember hearing about the conflict between the Soviet
Union (or the USSR) and the United States? Tell me about it.
Rebecca: Well, I cannot really remember the first time that I heard about the conflict between the
Soviet Union and the United States. If I think about it, I think that this knowledge was something
that I kind of just absorbed...but did not really understand because no one really took the time to
explain the situation to young children when I was young. I also really do not remember learning
much about the conflict while I was in school.
Strangely enough, I remember hiding in a closet one time, and trying to figure out how I was
going to hide and hold my breath, when the Russians came . I was trying to figure out how I could
be so quiet that they would not find me when they came to search the house. I also remember
thinking that the Russians were somewhere not that far away, where they could easily travel into
Indiana and invade and take over.

Picket Fence Federalism
Federalism is a form of government in which the power to make laws and other specific
responsibilities are divided across the national, state, and local governments. How that power is
divided has been a constant source of conflict as each level has some degree of autonomy. That is,
each level has the capacity to carry out some policies without interference from the others. The
national government is responsible for things of national common interest such as, national defense
and foreign policy, as well as, responsibilities through implied powers that are inferred in the
Constitution. The national government also has the power to declare war, coin money, control
interstate commerce, borrow money, manage the postal service, and anything else... Show more

The United States certainly has the picket fence structure of all three levels of government working
together in all areas of political policy, probably more now than ever before in the history of
Cooperative Federalism. Our Federal government funds many state programs as in Fiscal
Federalism and uses those much needed funds to coerce state governments into complying with
federal policy as in Coercive Federalism. In 2009, the United States, under President Obama, began
participating in what his administration calls Progressive Federalism. Although this is not
mentioned in our text, it has become the policy of the current administration and allows the states
to have a greater control over issues normally reserved for the national government. In various
instances, states have been able to enforce more regulations on government decrees than necessary.
This type of federalism is used in different situations, such as California imposing stricter
regulations on the emissions of greenhouse gases in vehicles. This allows the states to still comply
with government orders, but add their own additions as well. Allowing states to experiment with
different variations on the same government mandate can inform the national government on which
type of changes are most effective, and can allow the national government to tailor their

Heron Of Alexandria Research Paper
Heron of Alexandria, also referred to as hero, was a greek mathematician. Heron was a writer
whose works brought forth knowledge to not only mathematics, but also engineering and
mechanics. It is difficult to determine when Heron was born because record were not as
organized and important as they are today. Some used to believe that Heron was born around
150 BC, while others believed that he was born in 250 AD. These estimates come from the fact
that Heron never quotes from anyone s work that is earlier than Archimedes. Later it was proven
that both of these times are in fact, wrong. Heron was a contemporary of Columella. This meaning
he was a Greek soldier and farmer who wrote extensively on agriculture and similar subjects,

Heron s work resembled lecture notes in works that surrounded, mathematics, physics,
pneumatics, and mechanics. Some textbooks have even been recovered that are believed to
have been written by Heron himself. Many works by Heron have been recovered over the years,
however authenticity, as well as authorship are questionable. Heron was an extremely common
name during his time period. Heron was sometimes transcribed correctly, while other times it
became Hero. Soon the Romans and Greek took up the nickname of Hero to men named Heron.
This makes it very hard for historians to determine which works were that of mathematician
Heron and of others that simply just shared the name. Historians debate that Heron s most
important work was the Metrica . The Metrica is a series of three books that included formulas
and geometric rules that Heron had discovered. These formulas included how to find the areas
and volumes of plane figures, as well as solid figures. Book I included one of the more famous
formulas still used today. This formula was how to find the area of a

Dance Movement In African American Culture
1.In African cultures, they believe in creating a positive environment for the gods by singing and
dancing, with the hope that the attention will cause the gods, to grant their request. The African
also believe that without the body and spirit there will be no god. In the Indian culture, they believe
that dancethe body and spirit are one, and therefore it cannot be separated. The Indian s also
believe that the body and spirit work together in unity or as one. Lastly, both the Africans and
Indians believe the body is the temple of the spirit.

The Raven and Ligeia a comparison Essay
The Raven and Ligeia a comparison
Although the two tales are presented in different literary forms the tales themselves deal with
remarkably similar subject matter. So much so that it is possible to compare the style of each with
but a little reference to the general themes of the two works.
The Raven and Ligeia are both about loss. The narrators of both tales have lost the dearest thing to
them, a woman of incomparable talents and beauty. That the loss of this woman has happened for
different reasons does not matter for it is how this loss manifests itself in the lives of the narrators
that provide the drama and the poignancy of the stories. In each we discover the narrator is
dwelling upon that woman that he adored and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

abbey and even goes so far as to decorate his bedroom with the mortuary artefacts of several
eastern cultures. It is not until his second, and neglected, wife takes ill that these morbid
fascinations take full root. Through the veils of an opiate stupor he begins to imagine some
supernatural agency that only he has perceived to be responsible for the final demise of his
current wife. And after the death he begins to imagine a reviving of the corpse where in the end
just as the dawn approaches he beholds his beloved Ligeia returned to him.
So it is that the main themes in both of these works are those of obsession, death and the guilt of
the survivor. How each approaches this and evokes the mood in the reader is remarkably different.
In Ligeia the narrator begins his tale in a crumbling city on the
Rhine, immediately evoking thoughts of the old world, this is emphasised almost straight away as
he describes his departed love. He compares her with the goddesses of the

Homeowner Essay
Today millennials are seemingly unaware of the benefits of homeownership. I know this
because of the lack of effort given by most of this group to do what it takes to become a
homeowner. I currently work a supervisor at a debt collection agency here in Anchorage, AK. I
see more and more individuals who seem to not car about bills that are in collections. A lot of
younger consumers are seeming to hang up, not care or get overwhelmed by so many bills,
especially medical. It s very unfortunate when you know someone care about their bills and credit
and just happens to get in binds. However, I find this is not the case with younger consumers.
Paying bills are just not a priority it seems. I was born March 27,1989. For me when I was in high...

Especially here in Alaska. Things are so expensive and unless you have a really good job you
can t pay everyday bills and save the amount needed. If millennials are saving it will be at a rate
that will make them available to purchase when they re about 30. According to a study I found
68 % of millennials said they have saved less than $1000.00 for a down payment (80 % of
millennials say they want to buy a home, By: Ester Bloom). There are a lot of programs out
there that can help people get familiar with the homebuying process and programs available for
down payment assistance and other housing scholarships. I feel like not too many of millennials
know about these, When I started to look for a home buying opportunity I had to find all this on
my own. There is also the factor of everything being more expensive and interest rates being high
on loans. It seems like a 3 year loan turns into a 5 or 6 year fast. Housing and rent used to be
cheaper and its discouraging to even go out and rent on your own let alone must pay a mortgage
and other house bills. Everything you need to live and have a decent life is more expensive and it
seems like prices just keep going up. It s not a lot but every little bit from here and there adds up
and really dips into your pocket. As that pocket gets emptier there is less and less to be able to be
saved. To even pay off medical bills or vehicle repairs. Once you have a bill like that happen now

How Does Diffusion And Osmosis Affect The Rate Of Diffusion
Abstract
Cells and molecules in the environment are constantly moving and changing, for cells to function
properly there is a need for equilibrium to be met. The size of the cell and the solution outside of
the cell affects the rate of diffusion and osmosis in the cell. Cells are constantly trying to reach an
equilibrium with the molecules and substances around it, which is why there are such terms as:
hypertonic, hypotonic and isotonic. The procedures allowed testing of whether or not surface area
or volume increased diffusion and how different substance control diffusion. Cells are constantly
moving to reach equilibrium through diffusion and osmosis.

The Medicine Bag Short Story Analysis
Many people have grandparents. Some passed and some alive, but for most, at least once in their
lifetime their grandparents or parents have embarrassed them in public. They might say
exceptionally loud that you have a cute girl on your phone or they just have a funny appearance in
the society they are in. In Virginia Sneve s short story, The Medicine Bag, the main protagonist
Martin has a Sioux Native American Grandpa who comes from a culture that is a lot different than
the modern world. Martin s Grandpa wears different clothes, looks different, acts different from the
community, and overall just stands out. Given these circumstances, Martin is embarrassed for his
Grandpa and himself. As the story continues on the most dynamic character in this short story
would still have to be Martin. The reason why Martin is not only the main protagonist, but is also
the most dynamic, is because throughout the story he pushed the truth about his culture from his
life, was embarrassed by his Grandfather s presentation, and didn t know the history of an
important symbol of his heritage. Once he finally experiences an important scene with his Grandpa
and has the talk about the past, Martin changes into a person that respects his culture, isn t
embarrassed by his Grandpa, and also learns more about the symbol of his heritage that put Martin
on a path to manhood.
One of the Aspects that changes about Martin throughout the story to make him the most dynamic
character is his respect towards

Analysis Of Forest Mcdonad s States Rights And The Union
In Forest McDonad s States Rights and the Union: Imperium in the Imperio, 1776 1876, he simply
begins the book by stating the main problem that the United States faced during the first one
hundred years of existence: the state and national government authority were not easily separated.
Before the time period of which McDonald analyzes, the people of the future country, the United
States, lived in England, where the line between state and national government authority was clear.
McDonald mentions the Act of Settlement of 1701 where Parliament decided the plan of
succession, and he mentions how Parliament could not compromise when English colonists who
were settled in America questioned their right to tax or make laws for the colonists.... Show more

The Declaration of Independence is split up into three parts. The preamble states the beginning and
the purpose of the country, the government being put into place, and how the government can be
destroyed if necessary. The rather lengthy second part of the Declaration is filled with accusations
of the King of Great Britain of the time. The actual declaration occurs in the third part of the
document; in this part of the document, the states are declared free and independent where they
hold the power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances... (10). Yet, the union itself can only
do these three acts. The country s issue of determining where the states and the union s power ends
and begins starts with the first document of the entire existence of the United States. McDonald
brings up the interesting point concerning War of 1812again dealing where the authority of the
government and the states lie. Many did not agree with going to war in the beginning, and even the
votes in the Senate and the House were pretty divided. Those in the New England states protested
and refused to fight in the war. According to the Declaration of Independence, the states are
sovereign; yet, when the War of 1812 was on the horizon and without the approval from Congress,
Madison issued for one hundred thousand men in the militia to gather and fight for the United
States against the British. The people of the New England were furious; even the governor of
Massachusetts hindered

Transformation Of The Human Race
Transformation s Role As A Mentor To Growth
The progression of the human race throughout history has relied on unique individuals willing to
take a stand for what they believe to be true to themselves and to their culture. Important political
and cultural developments have taken their roots in charismatic people with fresh ideas that may
not exactly fit within the status quo. The complexity of evolution is seeded deep within every human
being; and one must come to terms with their identity to be fully content with themselves. There
will never be one clear meaning to life; thus there will always be room for constant improvement
and growth. Elucidations to such concepts exist in the field of arts and entertainment as a recurring
theme, or simply as basic character development. Two popular examples are, for instance, William
Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew, in which temperamental and odious Katherina falls in love
with the endearing Petruchio, or in more recent cinema, Jules Winnfield from Quentin Tarantino s
Pulp Fiction, who discovers his life as sanctimonious and false according to the greater good he
wishes to contribute to. From a literary standpoint, A Room With A Viewby E.M. Forster is an
enticing social commentary on the Edwardian society existent in England in the early 20th
century, as well as being a cordial tale of love and growth. As the main focus of the novel is the
journey of the protagonist from suppression to freedom, the work remains relevant today as

Why Seat Belts Should Have Seatbelts
Seat belts should be required on school buses for a lot of foreseen reasons. Seatbelts can make
school buses so much safer in so many different ways. One reason why seat belts should be
required on school buses is that it will save students lives. According to an article released by the
Today show About 440,000 schoolbuses carry 24 million kids each and every day during the school
year, which can be dangerous if the busgets in a crash. Undoubtedly, school buses should be
required to have seat belts if 24 million kids ride school buses each day. Furthermore, another
reason is it will get students to stay seated on the school buses . When students do not stay seated
on the bus and they are in awkward positions and in the aisle they are more prone to facing severe
injuries, maybe even, death . Adding on, if students have seatbelts on, they will have to sit down
because they can stand up with a seatbelt on. Going even further, cameras can be on school buses
just like the cameras on the school buses in Glenwood Community School District. This will give a
higher chance of students getting punished and it can even result in a suspension off the school bus

if the bus gets into a wreck because when the police and the investigation team comes out and
investigates the crash they can say, this person was in an awkward position. Or even, perhaps,
they can say they weren t wearing a seatbelt and the student can get into a lot of trouble because
the police have that power. That s why one of many reasons some say, seatbelts should be required

Use and Abuse of Benzodiazepines
Use and abuse of Benzodiazepines
Introduction
Sedative hypnotics, including benzodiazepines, are a group of drugs used to treat the symptoms of
anxiety, panic disorders, and insomnia.
Benzodiazepines are one of the most prescribed drugs which have abuse potential.
There must be special attention toward the patient s addiction history before these agents are
prescribed. An understanding of the toxicity and side effects of benzodiazepines, abuse patterns
and alternative anxiolytic and hypnotic agents may help clinicians to be safe from issues of medico
legal case.
Mechanism of action
It acts by following ways
Benzodiazepine receptors are linked mainly to Оі amino butyric acid (GABA) receptors, which
sensitize benzodiazepine receptors to the neurotransmitter GABA, the most prominent inhibitory
neurotransmitter in the central nervous system.
Enhance the affinity of the recognition site for GABA by inducing conformational changes that
make GABA binding more efficacious.
Activation of the benzodiazepine GABA chloride ionophor complex is responsible for producing
the therapeutic anxiolytic effects of benzodiazepines and for mediating many of the side effects
and, possibly, dependence and withdrawal from these drugs.
Clinical use
Following are the use of benzodiazepines
Amnesia before or after surgery
Anxiety disorders

When Leon Yacher was young, his father spent about five years traveling all over Peru. Through
this, Yacher was introduced to different areas and cultures and landscapes. He learned that there

While there, he took a geography class taught by Professor Richard Murphy that sparked his

Oedipus Vs Hamlet Essay
When dealing with universal themes in plays like Oedipus or Hamlet, a set time period is not
necessarily required. A production of Hamlet could take place in the year 2016 and make sense if
adapted correctly. What is important when adapting a play is not presenting it exactly as the
playwright wrote it hundreds of years ago, in the case of Shakespeare s Hamlet, but keeping the
themes that make the playwhat it is. To completely change the story of Hamlet and differ too
greatly from the original story would defeat the purpose of the production. The director has to
adhere to the main themes of whichever play they choose because that play they chose obviously
carries the message they want to send to an audience. A director s job is to bring their ideas about
a play to life and present that to an audience, therefore, demonstrating their ideas for that audience.
The ideas spread and are then absorbed by an audience member, who leaves the play filled with the
new knowledge or new ideas.

essential themes that make the play what it is cannot be manipulated. However, some main ideas

The Pros And Cons Of Cognitive Linguistics
Cognitive Linguistics is a new approach to the study of language which views linguistic knowledge
as part of general cognition and thinking. It emerged through the work of George Lakoff and

integral part of it. According to Lakoff and Johnson, there is a conceptual potential that enables the
transferring of the knowledge and experience human beings have of the things and events that they
know well, to those other objects and events with which they may not be so familiar with, and even
to abstract concepts. (Johnson)One of the main theoretical principles of cognitive... Show more

There are certain approaches that focus on the text, like the formalist and structuralist ones, others
focus on the writer like the biographical or psychological ones. Each of these approaches has their
own positive and negative aspects. A cognitive linguistic approach to literature reconciles both the
above mentioned theories and takes into consideration a third aspect: the reader. Literary experience
becomes thus the result of the conceptualization of all the conceptual aspects of human experience
and behavior. A cognitive approach to literature rests on three key principles from cognitive science:
the notion that meaning is embodied, the notion that categorization is a feature of prototype effects,
so that categories are also socio culturally grounded in embodiment, and the notion that language
and its manifestations in interpretation is a natural human trait. (Stockwell) Recent work in
cognitive linguistics explores the analogical processes by which the human brain makes sense of its
world. So the way authors think is the way we think. Claiborne Rice states that textual production
and reception necessarily rely on identical, or even similar, integration networks (Rice) Joseph
Grady asserts that speakers and hearers share the same cognitive network structures. (Grady)
According to Fauconnier and Turner, the same structures are at work in both production and
reception. (Fauconnier) Under these views we understand that the human mind thinks analogically.
The components of analogy include cognitive mapping skills that create levels of identification
between across different domains and mental spaces. In order to understand what literary critics do
when analyzing a literary text, we need to identify the kinds of cognitive mappings they

Should Religious Leaders Be Political Leaders
A leader is a person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal. The types
of leaders vary but in this case, we will be dealing with the religious and political leaders. A
religious leader is one who is recognized by a religious body as having some authority within that
body while a political leader is a person actively engaged in politicsespecially a full time

My Most Memorable Event Essay
My most memorable childhood event was when I was 15 years old. It was the Fourth of July. A
big family vacation a barbeque, over night stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast
the night before me, my mom, sisters and brother packed our bags to stay the night over my
cousin house in Goodlettsville ,Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a
mansion; six bedrooms two an half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big
kitchen. It was something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on
an income apartment on the East side of Nashville. Arriving to my cousinhouse i seen alot of my

How Does Golding Create Evil In Lord Of The Flies
William Golding once said, Man produces evil as a bee produces honey. Simply put, man will no
matter what naturally produce evil as long as they live. Evil can and will comes in many forms. It
may be a ravenous fire or weapon of mass destruction, devouring miles of previously unscathed
nature. However, there is perhaps no greater place where evilfesters more than the human soul. The
human race is often so blinded by evil, desire, and rage that they unleash unconditional destruction
on anything they touch. Humans require order and society to function, otherwise they succumb to
anarchy. William Golding instructs us not to embrace, but spurn evil through the use of the
belligerent character Jack, the passive use of Simon, and Jack s mask.... Show more content on

Whenever Jack and his cronies do their dance, they chant, Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill its
blood! (Golding 152). Normally, the ideology that is analogized with the words kill and blood is
deliriousness and murder. This foreshadows Jack s evil and if looked at closer, the evil in
humanity. Later on in the book when Jack leaves Ralph s group, he now becomes free to do
whatever he wants, including torture. According to Ron Carter, an author for Salem Press, Jack
pursues a sow caught feeding her litter. Running the sow down, the boys fall on her in a frenzy
and kill her. Then, as an offering to the beast, they mount the pig s severed head on a stake (1).
When Jack slays the sow and litter by ramming a spear up their asses, it exhibits them as only
barbarous and heartless people. Scrutinizing this, one could reckon that Jack is not only cruel,
mean, evil, and heartless, but that he along with the rest of humanity, are all epitomes of the

Women In Australia s Political System
Georgie Taylor investigates the unequal representation of women in Australia s Political System.
To quote BeyoncГ© Knowles Carter, an influential modern feminist, in her song Flawless she
defines a feminist as a person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the
sexes
There are currently only two women in Tony Abbott s Federal Cabinet and Australia only has 8
women in its 43 member cabinet. Women only hold 19% of senior leadership roles in the
Government. So it s safe to say that the Federal Government is still predominantly a boys club .

winning battles for women in Australia and all around the world, but the fights not over yet. Equal
representation in politics is a new critical battle that must be tackled head on. It is essential for

Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS/JSTARS) is a multi functioning
air asset that is to assist airborne battle management, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
I will briefly describe the aircraft capabilities and how they are used on the battlefield. I will also
identify significant historic event, how the Joint STARS have influenced Military intelligence, and
the second and third order effects. I will also talk about how Joint STARTS will continue to help
the evolvement and impacts it will have on Military intelligence. Joint STARS came from Army
and Air Force programs to develop, detect, located, and attack enemy forces at a range beyond
forward operating troops. Joint STARS E 8C modified Boeing 707 300 series commercial aircraft.
The E 8C is equipped with a multi mode radar, commutations, operations and control subsystems,
and antenna. The radar and computer subsystems can display battlefield information on ground
troops in near real time. The antenna is able to rotate 120 degrees and able to detect targets 155
miles away. In addition, the antenna is limited to detect helicopters, rotating antennas, and even
slow moving fixed wing aircraft. Joint STARS was deployed during Desert Storm and specifically
early on during the Battle of Khafji. The Battle of Khafji took place during 28January1991 and

Biological Macromolecules Research Paper
Macromolecules are huge molecules that are formed when smaller molecules collide into each
other which created a much bigger one. It usually happens when a condensation reaction occurs.
Macromolecules are also referred as polymers, poly meaning many. The way I remember the
word macromolecules was when my High School biology teacher referred Mac in
macromolecules as the Big Mac from McDonalds, which is supposed to be bigger than other
burgers. Everything has macromolecules in them, such as plastic, rubber and even diamonds! There
are four classes of Biological Macromolecules, Protein, Nucleic Acids, Carbohydrates and Lipids.
Proteins are one of the biological macromolecules. They are composed when smaller sections
combine and connect together to create a much bigger molecule. Each protein has its own job to do.

Carbohydrates are found in many food that provide the energy for different types of muscles,
central nervous system and the body. Some examples of carbohydrates in food are brown rice,
whole grain pasta, buckwheat, whole grain corn and much more. The body breaks down the
carbohydrates, breaking them into separate components. Once in their components it is then
used to energize cells and maintain the body process. Plants use carbohydrates as well. Lipids
are the last of the four biological carbohydrates.Lipids are more commonly know as fats which
appear in many types of foods as well. Some examples of lipids in food are milk, cheese, meat

important vitamins that are needed. Lipids are stored by the human body as saved fat which then
the saved fat will be consumed over time as the cells use the stored

Role Of Mummification In Ancient Egypt
In the study of ancient Egypt there are numerous belief systems followed by the Egyptians that
have been performed over the Pharaonic period. Due to their strong beliefs in the journey or
cross over to the afterlife Egyptians carried out many cultural and religious rituals such as the
mummification ceremony. The mindset and approach Egyptians feel about death is due to their
belief in immortality. Death was rather thought to be a way into a new life therefore they used
the method of mummification to preserve the body so that the soul would return to the body.
Egyptians came up with a process of preserving bodies so that they would remain in a lifelike
form. This was because of their strong belief in life after death. Ancient Egyptians believed that
everyone had a soul which they believed to be called the ba and the ka (http:/
/ss6shms.pbworks.com/f/Mummification+Egypt.pdf). The body of the deceased was needed as a
central focal point to which the spirit s of the deceased which is the ba and the ka were said to be

Each phase of the mummification procedure involves different spells, prayers and magical or
religious rituals that are performed as a form of protection and to assist the deceased on their
journey to the afterlife. Many of the resources that are used in the process of mummification are
symbolic as well as practical such as the use of beeswax, which meant rebirth, and resin, which was
said to have meant royalty or holiness (www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/dept/education

began, the body needed to get rid of impurities by washing it. This is an important step when it

Gardening And The Life Cycle Of A Plant
I did my project with Taylor McNeil and we decided to focus our world on gardening. When we
were assigned this project, we brainstormed some different ideas that our world could revolve
around. The first idea that we had was the season of Fall. We thought that it would be a great
idea to revolve our world around fall because it was the season that we are currently in but then
we decided to do something different. Some of our other ideas included birthdays, recycling, and
gardens. We then narrowed it down between two choices, gardening and recycling. Both of us are
passionate about our environment and so these topics were extremely intriguing. We then decided
that we were the most interested in gardening and selected it to be our world. Gardening is a
pretty broad topic so we focussed more on the reason behind gardening and the life cycle of a plant.
When looking at all the Common Core Standards there were many standards that could be
incorporated into a lesson about gardening, so many that we chose six of them. The first one we
chose was CCSS.ELA LITERACY.RL.2.1. In this standard, students would ask and answer
questions demonstrating that they understand the text. A way to incorporate this into a classroom
would be to ask students questions, about gardening and plants, before you read aloud a book about
gardens to them. Instead of having the students answer the questions right away, have them think
about these questions while you read aloud the book. After you finish reading

problems that a multicultural society poses to the formation of national identity and why you do or

The Age of liberal democracy is also the Age of nationalism (Bernard Yack, 2003) . Throughout

He carried out genocide on the German Jews in order to create the perfect Aryan race. Hitler
successfully turned the Germans against each other based on anti Semitic ideals. From this point of
view, nationalism and the politics of ethnic cleansing represent the dark side of democracy (Bernard
Yack, 2003) . National identity becomes horribly wrong, especially in multinational societies, when
people sometimes rank identities hierarchically, leading to the rejection of another nation as inferior.
The modernist theories imply that until the beginning of the 19th century, almost no one had more
than local loyalties. National identity and unity were originally imposed from above, by European
states, because they were necessary to modernize the economy and society. In this theory,
nationalist conflicts are an unintended side effect. For state theorists, pervasive loyalty or devotion
to the polity is purposefully encouraged through the allocation of services and privileges, with the
state adjudicating disputes to bolster unity (Bernard Yack, 2003) . Ernest Gellner, a philosopher and
social anthropologist, argued that nations are a by product of industrialization. Modernization
theorists regard the printing press and capitalism as necessary conditions for nationalism. The
greater the group nationalism, the greater the group homogeneity of attitudes, beliefs, language
spoken and ways of behaving, the greater is the group cohesiveness. Partly as a result of

What Conditions Do You Need To Grow Rice
Has there been any minds in this world that thought of breaking a permanent logic? If there is, it
would simply turn into a ridiculous joke from someone s eyes, but from a certain person s sight
is a delicacy, deeply craving for an answer. Rice farming has been a traditional part of living since
the old days. It has become an essential part of humanity s survival, progress, and growth. From
plains to mountains to the hills to desolate lands, it has been grown in different places like in
Japan. Many believe that riceis a seasonal plant that can only grow in one season and growing it
in any other season will only diminish its growth and led to failure. However with the current
changes of living, it eventually made people think farther and in a different way that it became
unreasonable. It is possible to grow rice in any season because it depends on the land condition,
other country can grow it, and having proper material, resources, layout, and planning. The
condition of the land is an important factor for growing rice. According to Brian Barth from
What Conditions Do You Need To Grow Rice , he stated the growing rice should be kept weed
free, has moisturize soil and is well fertilized with a source of nitrogen . Brian Barth gave away
the essential requirements of a good plot of land where rice can grow without relying to the season.

Reflection On The Mathematics Class
One night last month I had trouble falling asleep. The night was cool but it was hot inside my
house. So I went for a walk to try to sort out the things that plagued my mind. I was thinking
about the mathematics class and how to apply the things I was learning to my life. After a few
minutes of walking, I noticed that I had arrived in downtown Colorado Springs. It was very
strange because I did not live near downtown. I was standing in the middle of Tejon Street,
facing north. The buildings on either side of the street were dark as far as I could see. The street
lamp cast an eerie glow across the darkened landscape. A light fog rolled in and the feeble light
that shone from the street lamps grew hazy. The wind blew in gusts of regular increment.
Somewhere in the distance I heard singing. The voice that sang echoed through the night in sad,
hollow desperation. I could not hear the words, but the tune sounded familiar. On the corner closest
to me, three scruffy little dogs appeared. They looked at me, sat down and began to howl. The
singing from the distance grew louder. Through the fog I saw something walkingtowards me. There
were several of them. As they drew nearer, I realized they were numbers. Numbers with legs, arms,
faces. I saw the numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8. They were singing the same thing over and over. One is

There is no shortage of earthquakes in Southern California. On any given day this area sees
numerous earthquakes, though most are barely even felt. The concern here is what will happen
when another earthquake occurs in a large dense area such as Los Angeles County, California. One
question concerns earthquakepreparedness of residents in this region. Do residents know what to
do in order to prepare for an earthquake? Are residents prepared for a medium to large sized

Comparing The Prague Spring And The Polish Solidarity...
Movements like the Prague Spring and the Polish Solidarity movement were rooted in frustration
over economic and social conditions in nations in the socialist bloc. The Prague Spring was ignited
by reforms made by new party chief and President Alexander DubДЌek. DubДЌek s reforms were
intended to address the disconnect between Soviet policy and Czechoslovakian life and to create
new policies to build socialism in a Czechoslovakian context. In his Action Program , DubДЌek s
central concern appears to be with the lack of liberties in society, especially in regards to freedom
of expression. He wanted to introduce complete freedom of speech and the free expression of
political opinions and ensure that they were constitutional guarantees and protected against
influence from state agencies. new freedom of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Solidarity movement also addressed something they called dignity of the person of man and it
related to how current social conditions and actions of the government prevented an individual from
leading a dignified life. While the government could barely meet the basic needs of food, clothing,
and housing at a bare minimum, there were social and cultural needs that were completely ignored
and prevented the public from establishing an identity outside of the state and state ideology. The
Solidarity movement aimed to expand the participation of the working class through total
democracy. The members of the Solidarity movement wanted to eliminate what had become a
feature of socialist society, lack of fulfillment of constitutional guarantees and ensure the protection
of civil liberties. An important feature of the Solidarity movement was a desire for an economic
overhaul with a return to a market based system and freedom for the restrictions of state

Andrew Jackson s Presidency and the Indian Removal Act
Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States, he won the presidential race for
his support of farmers and workingmen. His role as president led him to pass nine treaties and
Indian Removal Act, although everything he passed was not what was promised. There are now
questions about what the removal was, how Jackson got it passed, and is it what the Indians
expected it to be? President Jackson got the Indian Removal Act passed on May 28, 1830, when it
was passed it said that the move west would be voluntary and peaceful, although Jackson and his
administration had other plans for the Indians and their land.
This policy first came up during the process of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, although it did not
pass until the exchange of land with the government and Indians. The Indian Removal Act was
passed by Congress on May 28, 1830. This was passed by President Andrew Jackson, and stated it
gave him the power to peacefully and voluntarily give the Indians the option to move from the
states east of the Mississippi River to the unoccupied land west. When this was approved, most did
not think the land west of the Mississippi would ever be a part of the country. Since that was
believed, the wester land was promised as permanent homeland for those who moved, but after they
moved the government continually made the portion of land the Indians were promised smaller and

Q1. NAME AND DESCRIBE THREE AUTHENTICATION METHODS.
Authentication is defined by Essentials Guide as is the process of determining whether someone or

Intrusion detection systems monitor the most vulnerable points or hotspots in a network to detect
and deter unauthorized intruders. These systems often also monitor events as they happen to look
for security attacks in progress. Sometimes they can be programmed to shut down a particularly
sensitive part of a network if it receives unauthorized traffic.
Antivirus software is a computer program that detects, prevents, and takes action to disarm or
remove malicious software programs, such as viruses and worms. These tools are critical for users
to have installed and updated because a computer without anti virus software installed will be
infected within minutes of connecting to the internet. Antivirus software is designed to check
computer systems and drives for the presence of computer viruses and worms and often eliminates
the malicious software, whereas antispyware software combats intrusive and harmful spyware
programs. Often the software can eliminate the virus from the infected area. To be effective,
antivirus software must be continually updated.

How Did Halloween Influence Early American Culture
When Christianity reached to the Europe, missioners attempted to change the religious practices
of the Celtic people instead of trying to abolish these pagan customs. They wished to introduce
ideas which reflected a Christian worldview. Halloween has since integrated a mixture of
traditional practices from pagan cultures and Christian beliefs. Virtually all present Halloween
traditions can be traced to the ancient Celtic practice of Samhain festival. Although halloween is
a holiday of many mystic customs; each one has a story behind it. The wearing of costumes, and
wandering from door to door demanding treats can be also traced to the Celtic era when it was
widely viewed that the souls of the dead were out and mingle with living. People used... Show more

If not placated, they dread that the spirits of dead would ruin their home and destroy their
property. As the centuries wore on, people began dressing like these fearful creatures, performing
antics in exchange for candy. The practice of trick or treat present day is from which the practice of
Celtic tradition evolves. To this day, witches, ghosts, batman, black cat and skeleton figures of are
among the favorite disguises. Halloween symbols, traditions, and practices certainly have had great
influences upon Western culture throughout history. In early American history, Halloween was not
celebrated due to the strong Christian heritage. Initially, it was practiced only in small Irish
population, until thousands of Irish migrated to American soil and brought their tradition with
them. Some regard Halloween as an Irish holiday with history in the Celtic festival. Traditional
Halloween symbols we often see such as witches, fairies, pumpkins, black cats masks, batman,
parties and pranks appeared in United States during the late 1800 s. In 1848, millions of Irish
emigrants poured into America as a result of the potato famine. Originally the

In theory, it has been proved that futures and swaps can be equal to the combination of forwards.
(Hull J C, 1997)Generally, a foreign exchange settlement contract will be signed by banks and
their customers, which stipulates the type of foreign currency to be used, the sum, the exchange
rates and duration. On the due date when income or expenditure of foreign exchange occurs,
currency exchange settlement will be operated in accordance with the contract. In order to
improve efficiency, it s necessary to adjust the hedging when using forward contracts. (Brealey R,
Kaplanis E. 1995)When the interest rate fluctuates randomly, the forwards strategy can be divided
into three smaller parts: the Minimum Variance Hedging, Merton / Breeden Hedging and
speculation. (Briys E, Solnik B. 1992)When the interest rate is certain, there is no price difference
between futures contracts and forward contracts. Perfect hedge can be achieved, no matter what
type of hedging tools is used. However, the two is no longer able to replace each other when
interest rates move randomly, because of the existence of marking to market in futures market
operation. The above selection is based on the effectiveness of futures and forwards. Next, the
selection rules will emphasis on other features. Futures contracts are standardized by the Exchange,

The Issues Facing Our Society Today
What is the role of the individual in helping to solve some of the problems we face in our society
today? What are some of the problems we face in our society today? In today s society we are
currently facing ten major issues according to toptenz.net and should these problems be
considered as individual or social responsibilities? Now that we are well into the new
Millennium society has begun to recognize serious concerns with issues that kids have to deal
with today. Some issues have always been there but are now coming to the eyes of the public to
find solutions. Other issues are new trends as society begins to adapt to a faster pace of life
(Standberry). Here are some of the issues facing our youth today: single parent households, drug
/alcohol abuse, growing up to fast, and violence in schools, materialism, obesity, education
disparity, shifting economy, and loss of national pride. So how do we fix just one of these
problems, do we come together for a common purpose or do we stand alone and try to make a
difference. This is a hard question to answer, and I believe that it takes society and individuals to
fix what is crumbling in our society. However, someone has to be willing to start. It is scary to
think of what our world will be like in fifteen years, especially if you are a parent who worries if
they are providing their children with the moral standards, social growth, and economical
opportunities that they could face in our society today. While it is hard to

Naomi Wolf The Beauty Myths
Mythbusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman tackle the countless legends and myths of the
21st century, but could they bust the Beauty Myth as well as Naomi Wolf? Her novel, The Beauty
Myth, takes a look at Western sexism during the nineties, where the Beauty Myth is defined as an
impossible beauty standard put into place by men in power to continue the oppression of women.
A decade later, the context of this book is still relevant; though some things have changed, there is
still much to be done if women everywhere want to bust this myth for good. Throughout the book,
Wolf argues sexism is used as a tool of oppression, primarily to keep women from moving into
power. In the chapter, Work, the author used countless legal cases to show the existence

Jack Kerouac s On The Road
Published in 1957, several years after it was written, Jack Kerouac s On the Road is lauded as
one of the most important literary works of the twentieth century. Praised for its role in the
counterculture Beat movement that helped shape society today, the novel embraces previously
taboo themes like sex, drugs, music, and dissatisfaction with the expectations of ordinary life in
early 50 s America. According to legend, after years of real life experience of hitchhiking his way
back and forth across the country with friends, most notably, Neal Cassady, Kerouac came home
and wrote the novel in three weeks, on mimeograph paper he taped together. The result was a typo
littered scroll that few people read and Kerouac immediately took to... Show more content on

While the book has been edited from its original format, typos, excessively long sentences, and
misplaced punctuation still find their way in, and despite presenting a distraction at points, perhaps
in the bigger picture, they are an important part in preserving the novel as it was written.
With its unconventional structure, On the Road actually feels comparable to a road. Kerouac s
prose often paints vivid pictures, allowing the reader to immerse him or herself into the different
scenery, excellent for elements like the music or the difference between cities or even the
characters he meets along the way. According to Mary Beth Brophy in Re Remembering Gerard:
Using Beat Author Jack Kerouac s Letters to Lead Students to a Deeper Understanding of His
Novels, Kerouac s style choices are intentional, proclaimed as spontaneous prose, and inspired by
a letter he received from Neal Cassady in 1950. Brophy later asserts that while Cassady s letter
lacks the poetic style (3) of Kerouac s work, Kerouac was impressed with the flow of the writing,
adapting that fluidity into his own signature prose (3). There are places within the novel that this
works, creating beautiful imagery of both scenery and the human

Good Guys Always Win Analysis
Sometimes decisions can be very hard to make. You are stuck contemplating whether you should
do one thing or the other. Often times, people try to choose the right thing to do as their final
decision. Sometimes, people make the wrong decision, and choose the wrong thing to do. When
you are making decisions, you have to remember what your morals are and what you value. This
is exactly what Mrs. Kittredge had to do when making her decision in Cover Ups, and this is
what the Good Guy had to do in Good Guys Always Win. In Cover Ups, Mrs. Kittredge had to
decide whether to confess to her daughter about her father s history. Jenna, Mrs. Kittredge s
daughter, was friends with a boy named Richard, and they were both suspicious about both of their

Disadvantages Of Automobiles
Introduction
Ever since mankind was born, the most common activity that any human would perform everyday;
is travelling. Whether it was travelling a very short distance ranging from 1 meter to miles and
miles, mankind would travel in order to acquire the elements needed for survival. For short
travelling distances mankind would walk; in the earlier days human beings walked longer
distances. For longer distances humans would ride on the back of animals to get them to their
destination. Now a days, human beings walk shorter distances in average. And instead of the
difficult rides on the back of an animal, they ride inside a cool machine that would withstand almost
any weather condition to get them to even farther destinations. The machine is ... Show more

Automobiles improved our life a lot because now we can visit our relatives and friends easily
without making any effort. Before automobiles, people used to travel for about 3 months walking
to reach other country under the sun with camels which now can be reached in 12 hours only with
an automobile with cold air conditioner. This is a huge improvement in transportation which will
increase the amount of people who will travel by automobiles. The automobile has affected the
world more than any other invention of its time. It must adapt to whatever is going on in the
world at the time and keep up with future innovations. Each year, cars are becoming quicker,
more luxurious, and more environmentally safe. It is predicted that there will be a billion cars on
the road by 2025 [2]. The invention of the automobile opened up doors to new inventions. It
allowed for people to worry less about making it to dinner on time, and worry more about the
actual dinner. People can travel faster in automobiles and feel more comfortable at the same time.
They will continue to influence every part of economy. Without automobiles, life as we know it
would not be the same, and the changes that they have brought upon the earth can be seen in every

  • 2. Peyote And The Native American Church. Peyote Is A Narcotic Peyote and the Native American Church Peyote is a narcotic cactus plant that has been used in both religious and healing ceremonies of Native Americans for thousands of years. Peyote is considered safe by a majority of Native Americans, but also vastly important to their religious heritage. Not only is it considered historically important but the use of peyote is central to many beliefs of modern Pan Indianism. Interestingly, the more popular peyote became among Native American tribes, the more of a concern it became to the US Government and this strange correlation of tribe use vs. government concern forces us to ask why peyote has become such a central point of conflict. This essay will attempt to answer that question and show why the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quanah Parker, the credited founder of the Native American Church, adopted the peyote religion after he suffered a near death experience fighting federal troops. He claims that Jesus Christ came to him and told him that he needed to take the peyote religion to the Indian Peoples to atone for his many killings and misdeeds (Toquerville). The establishment of the Native American Church allowed the use of peyote for religious uses and for many it provided a powerful alternative to both ancient tribal religions and missionary controlled versions of Christianity which caused it spread like wildfire across tribes (Fikes). Faced with the suppression of many traditional rituals from the US Government, many Native Americans took solace in peyote ceremonies because they took place quietly and they were protected under the law (Toquerville). It was not just Native Americans that took part in these ceremonies. In 1956, Saskatoon Star Phoenix featured an article in which white men experienced peyote rites and one of the observers remarked that peyote ceremonies offer a tremendous religious experience that intensify the awareness of God. He also said that they provide an enormous cohesive force for the American Indian when they have had nothing to unify behind in a long time (Dyck). Just like all other Native ... • 3. The Electronic Health Record 1.Title 2.The electronic health record is the electronic version of a patients medical chart (Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services, 2012). The information included in the electronic health record is the patient s demographics and clinical health information, medical history, list of health problems, progress notes, medications, vital signs, laboratory and radiology reports, and physician orders. The purpose of the electronic health record is to prevent medical errors and improve care delivery to provide a safer patient environment (McGonigle Mastrian, 2015). 3.EHRs has been known to be a problem for some physicians or healthcare providers despite of the advantages. Because of this system physicians are forced to perform some time consuming tasks that could be assigned to someone with lesser qualification, which creates more work for the physicians. Physicians described poor Electronic Health Record (EHR) usability that did not match clinical workflows, time consuming data entry, interference with face to face patient care, and overwhelming numbers of electronic messages and alerts (Friedberg, Crosson, Tutty). Another issue that was reported is that there are a lot of electronic alerts and people also could potentially misuse the template based notes which is pre formatted and computer generated. 4.The use of Electronic Health Record can be very dangerous to patient care and safety when wrongly document as information stored in the system are considered to be ... This interview was done on July 17, 2016, at 6:00 pm Part B Me: Thank you for allowing me to interview you. I would like to ask you about the subject of the Cold War. At the end, I will also be asking a couple personal questions. Question 1: What was the first time you remember hearing about the conflict between the Soviet Union (or the USSR) and the United States? Tell me about it. Rebecca: Well, I cannot really remember the first time that I heard about the conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States. If I think about it, I think that this knowledge was something that I kind of just absorbed...but did not really understand because no one really took the time to explain the situation to young children when I was young. I also really do not remember learning much about the conflict while I was in school. Strangely enough, I remember hiding in a closet one time, and trying to figure out how I was going to hide and hold my breath, when the Russians came . I was trying to figure out how I could be so quiet that they would not find me when they came to search the house. I also remember thinking that the Russians were somewhere not that far away, where they could easily travel into Indiana and invade and take over. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Picket Fence Federalism Federalism is a form of government in which the power to make laws and other specific responsibilities are divided across the national, state, and local governments. How that power is divided has been a constant source of conflict as each level has some degree of autonomy. That is, each level has the capacity to carry out some policies without interference from the others. The national government is responsible for things of national common interest such as, national defense and foreign policy, as well as, responsibilities through implied powers that are inferred in the Constitution. The national government also has the power to declare war, coin money, control interstate commerce, borrow money, manage the postal service, and anything else... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States certainly has the picket fence structure of all three levels of government working together in all areas of political policy, probably more now than ever before in the history of Cooperative Federalism. Our Federal government funds many state programs as in Fiscal Federalism and uses those much needed funds to coerce state governments into complying with federal policy as in Coercive Federalism. In 2009, the United States, under President Obama, began participating in what his administration calls Progressive Federalism. Although this is not mentioned in our text, it has become the policy of the current administration and allows the states to have a greater control over issues normally reserved for the national government. In various instances, states have been able to enforce more regulations on government decrees than necessary. This type of federalism is used in different situations, such as California imposing stricter regulations on the emissions of greenhouse gases in vehicles. This allows the states to still comply with government orders, but add their own additions as well. Allowing states to experiment with different variations on the same government mandate can inform the national government on which type of changes are most effective, and can allow the national government to tailor their ... • 6. Heron Of Alexandria Research Paper Heron of Alexandria, also referred to as hero, was a greek mathematician. Heron was a writer whose works brought forth knowledge to not only mathematics, but also engineering and mechanics. It is difficult to determine when Heron was born because record were not as organized and important as they are today. Some used to believe that Heron was born around 150 BC, while others believed that he was born in 250 AD. These estimates come from the fact that Heron never quotes from anyone s work that is earlier than Archimedes. Later it was proven that both of these times are in fact, wrong. Heron was a contemporary of Columella. This meaning he was a Greek soldier and farmer who wrote extensively on agriculture and similar subjects, hoping to foster in people a... Some textbooks have even been recovered that are believed to have been written by Heron himself. Many works by Heron have been recovered over the years, however authenticity, as well as authorship are questionable. Heron was an extremely common name during his time period. Heron was sometimes transcribed correctly, while other times it became Hero. Soon the Romans and Greek took up the nickname of Hero to men named Heron. This makes it very hard for historians to determine which works were that of mathematician Heron and of others that simply just shared the name. Historians debate that Heron s most important work was the Metrica . The Metrica is a series of three books that included formulas and geometric rules that Heron had discovered. These formulas included how to find the areas and volumes of plane figures, as well as solid figures. Book I included one of the more famous formulas still used today. So much so that it is possible to compare the style of each with but a little reference to the general themes of the two works. The Raven and Ligeia are both about loss. The narrators of both tales have lost the dearest thing to them, a woman of incomparable talents and beauty. I know this because of the lack of effort given by most of this group to do what it takes to become a homeowner. I currently work a supervisor at a debt collection agency here in Anchorage, AK. I see more and more individuals who seem to not car about bills that are in collections. A lot of younger consumers are seeming to hang up, not care or get overwhelmed by so many bills, especially medical. It s very unfortunate when you know someone care about their bills and credit and just happens to get in binds. However, I find this is not the case with younger consumers. According to a study I found 68 % of millennials said they have saved less than $1000.00 for a down payment (80 % of millennials say they want to buy a home, By: Ester Bloom). There are a lot of programs out there that can help people get familiar with the homebuying process and programs available for down payment assistance and other housing scholarships. I feel like not too many of millennials know about these, When I started to look for a home buying opportunity I had to find all this on my own. Housing and rent used to be cheaper and its discouraging to even go out and rent on your own let alone must pay a mortgage and other house bills. Some passed and some alive, but for most, at least once in their lifetime their grandparents or parents have embarrassed them in public. They might say exceptionally loud that you have a cute girl on your phone or they just have a funny appearance in the society they are in. In Virginia Sneve s short story, The Medicine Bag, the main protagonist Martin has a Sioux Native American Grandpa who comes from a culture that is a lot different than the modern world. Martin s Grandpa wears different clothes, looks different, acts different from the community, and overall just stands out. Given these circumstances, Martin is embarrassed for his Grandpa and himself. As the story continues on the most dynamic character in this short story would still have to be Martin. The reason why Martin is not only the main protagonist, but is also the most dynamic, is because throughout the story he pushed the truth about his culture from his life, was embarrassed by his Grandfather s presentation, and didn t know the history of an important symbol of his heritage. Once he finally experiences an important scene with his Grandpa and has the talk about the past, Martin changes into a person that respects his culture, isn t embarrassed by his Grandpa, and also learns more about the symbol of his heritage that put Martin on a path to manhood. Analysis Of Forest Mcdonad s States Rights And The Union In Forest McDonad s States Rights and the Union: Imperium in the Imperio, 1776 1876, he simply begins the book by stating the main problem that the United States faced during the first one hundred years of existence: the state and national government authority were not easily separated. Before the time period of which McDonald analyzes, the people of the future country, the United States, lived in England, where the line between state and national government authority was clear. McDonald mentions the Act of Settlement of 1701 where Parliament decided the plan of succession, and he mentions how Parliament could not compromise when English colonists who were settled in America questioned their right to tax or make laws for the colonists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Declaration of Independence is split up into three parts. The preamble states the beginning and the purpose of the country, the government being put into place, and how the government can be destroyed if necessary. The rather lengthy second part of the Declaration is filled with accusations of the King of Great Britain of the time. The actual declaration occurs in the third part of the document; in this part of the document, the states are declared free and independent where they hold the power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances... (10). Yet, the union itself can only do these three acts. The country s issue of determining where the states and the union s power ends and begins starts with the first document of the entire existence of the United States. McDonald brings up the interesting point concerning War of 1812again dealing where the authority of the government and the states lie. Many did not agree with going to war in the beginning, and even the votes in the Senate and the House were pretty divided. Those in the New England states protested and refused to fight in the war. According to the Declaration of Independence, the states are sovereign; yet, when the War of 1812 was on the horizon and without the approval from Congress, Madison issued for one hundred thousand men in the militia to gather and fight for the United States against the British. • 13. Transformation Of The Human Race Transformation s Role As A Mentor To Growth The progression of the human race throughout history has relied on unique individuals willing to take a stand for what they believe to be true to themselves and to their culture. Important political and cultural developments have taken their roots in charismatic people with fresh ideas that may not exactly fit within the status quo. The complexity of evolution is seeded deep within every human being; and one must come to terms with their identity to be fully content with themselves. There will never be one clear meaning to life; thus there will always be room for constant improvement and growth. Elucidations to such concepts exist in the field of arts and entertainment as a recurring theme, or simply as basic character development. Two popular examples are, for instance, William Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew, in which temperamental and odious Katherina falls in love with the endearing Petruchio, or in more recent cinema, Jules Winnfield from Quentin Tarantino s Pulp Fiction, who discovers his life as sanctimonious and false according to the greater good he wishes to contribute to. From a literary standpoint, A Room With A Viewby E.M. Forster is an enticing social commentary on the Edwardian society existent in England in the early 20th century, as well as being a cordial tale of love and growth. As the main focus of the novel is the journey of the protagonist from suppression to freedom, the work remains relevant today as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One reason why seat belts should be required on school buses is that it will save students lives. According to an article released by the Today show About 440,000 schoolbuses carry 24 million kids each and every day during the school year, which can be dangerous if the busgets in a crash. Undoubtedly, school buses should be required to have seat belts if 24 million kids ride school buses each day. Furthermore, another reason is it will get students to stay seated on the school buses . When students do not stay seated on the bus and they are in awkward positions and in the aisle they are more prone to facing severe injuries, maybe even, death . Adding on, if students have seatbelts on, they will have to sit down because they can stand up with a seatbelt on. Going even further, cameras can be on school buses just like the cameras on the school buses in Glenwood Community School District. Mechanism of action It acts by following ways Benzodiazepine receptors are linked mainly to Оі amino butyric acid (GABA) receptors, which sensitize benzodiazepine receptors to the neurotransmitter GABA, the most prominent inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. Enhance the affinity of the recognition site for GABA by inducing conformational changes that make GABA binding more efficacious. Activation of the benzodiazepine GABA chloride ionophor complex is responsible for producing the therapeutic anxiolytic effects of benzodiazepines and for mediating many of the side effects and, possibly, dependence and withdrawal from these drugs. He learned that there were different places, that not every area was the same. Looking back, Dr. Yacher believes these early travels to have planted seeds of curiosity and interest inside him. These seeds experienced a growth spurt when he moved to the United Statesand attended the University of New Mexico. • 20. Oedipus Vs Hamlet Essay When dealing with universal themes in plays like Oedipus or Hamlet, a set time period is not necessarily required. A production of Hamlet could take place in the year 2016 and make sense if adapted correctly. What is important when adapting a play is not presenting it exactly as the playwright wrote it hundreds of years ago, in the case of Shakespeare s Hamlet, but keeping the themes that make the playwhat it is. To completely change the story of Hamlet and differ too greatly from the original story would defeat the purpose of the production. The director has to adhere to the main themes of whichever play they choose because that play they chose obviously carries the message they want to send to an audience. A director s job is to bring their ideas about a play to life and present that to an audience, therefore, demonstrating their ideas for that audience. The ideas spread and are then absorbed by an audience member, who leaves the play filled with the new knowledge or new ideas. Older plays, like Oedipus or Hamlet, are the most ... It all depends on whether the creative team behind a production can communicate their meaning and the change to the audience. If the audience understands the change, the interpretation and adaptation is successful. It emerged through the work of George Lakoff and Ronald Langacker and considers that linguistic behavior is not separated from other general cognitive abilities which allow mental processes of reasoning or memory but understood as an integral part of it. According to Lakoff and Johnson, there is a conceptual potential that enables the transferring of the knowledge and experience human beings have of the things and events that they know well, to those other objects and events with which they may not be so familiar with, and even to abstract concepts. There are certain approaches that focus on the text, like the formalist and structuralist ones, others focus on the writer like the biographical or psychological ones. Each of these approaches has their own positive and negative aspects. A cognitive linguistic approach to literature reconciles both the above mentioned theories and takes into consideration a third aspect: the reader. Literary experience becomes thus the result of the conceptualization of all the conceptual aspects of human experience and behavior. A cognitive approach to literature rests on three key principles from cognitive science: the notion that meaning is embodied, the notion that categorization is a feature of prototype effects, so that categories are also socio culturally grounded in embodiment, and the notion that language and its manifestations in interpretation is a natural human trait. (Stockwell) Recent work in cognitive linguistics explores the analogical processes by which the human brain makes sense of its world. So the way authors think is the way we think. Claiborne Rice states that textual production and reception necessarily rely on identical, or even similar, integration networks (Rice) Joseph Grady asserts that speakers and hearers share the same cognitive network structures. (Grady) According to Fauconnier and Turner, the same structures are at work in both production and reception. (Fauconnier) Under these views we understand that the human mind thinks analogically. The components of analogy include cognitive mapping skills that create levels of identification between across different domains and mental spaces. Due to their strong beliefs in the journey or cross over to the afterlife Egyptians carried out many cultural and religious rituals such as the mummification ceremony. The mindset and approach Egyptians feel about death is due to their belief in immortality. Death was rather thought to be a way into a new life therefore they used the method of mummification to preserve the body so that the soul would return to the body. Egyptians came up with a process of preserving bodies so that they would remain in a lifelike form. This was because of their strong belief in life after death. When we were assigned this project, we brainstormed some different ideas that our world could revolve around. The first idea that we had was the season of Fall. We thought that it would be a great idea to revolve our world around fall because it was the season that we are currently in but then we decided to do something different. Some of our other ideas included birthdays, recycling, and gardens. We then narrowed it down between two choices, gardening and recycling. Both of us are passionate about our environment and so these topics were extremely intriguing. We then decided that we were the most interested in gardening and selected it to be our world. Gardening is a pretty broad topic so we focussed more on the reason behind gardening and the life cycle of a plant. When looking at all the Common Core Standards there were many standards that could be incorporated into a lesson about gardening, so many that we chose six of them. On the corner closest to me, three scruffy little dogs appeared. They looked at me, sat down and began to howl. The singing from the distance grew louder. Through the fog I saw something walkingtowards me. There were several of them. As they drew nearer, I realized they were numbers. Numbers with legs, arms, faces. I saw the numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8. They were singing the same thing over and over. One is the loneliest number. One is the loneliest number. The howling dogs added drama and sadness to the numbers song.
