This is the basic lecture on introduction to gears for engineering students. It includes basics of gears, spur gear, bevel gear, etc. It also talks about a fundamental law of gearing, pressure angle and contact ratio.
FLYWHEEL AND GOVERNORS
A flywheel is a mechanical device specifically designed to efficiently store rotational energy.
IT STORES ENERGY DURING POWER STROKE AND RELEASES ENERGY DURING IDLE STROKE.
The main function of a flywheel is to smoothen out variations in the speed of a shaft caused by torque fluctuations.
flywheel does not maintain a constant speed; it simply reduces the fluctuation of speed.
a flywheel controls the speed variations caused by the fluctuation of the engine turning moment during each cycle of operation.
FLYWHEEL IS MADE UP OF………
flywheel made up of cast iron has more mass for same values of energy storage compared with all other materials. It is because of high density and less strength of cast iron. It is followed by, steel and E-glass fibre composite.
The flywheel position is between engine and clutch patch to starter.
flywheel connects the rotation from engine to clutch plate to the transmission.
Flywheel also makes the crankshaft to move in a motion to make the engine work from starter.
Governor is a mechanical device which is used to regulatethe mean speed of the engine, when there are variations in the load.
the governor automatically controls the supply of working fluid to the engine with the varying load condition and keeps the mean speed within certain limits.
when the load on an engine increases, its speed decreases, therefore it increases the supply of working fluid.
On the other hand, when the load on the engine decreases, its speed increases and thus less working fluid is supplied.

Abstract:This Kinematic linkage of internal cylindrical surface is need for cutting the elliptical as well as cylindrical surface .The cost required for these type of machines is less as compared the conventional milling machine. Kinematic linkage mechanism is based on four bar linkage mechanism is converted into internal cylindrical boring & shape. Double worm drive is used to drive the worktable in circular manner as well as elliptical manner. Worm gear pair ensure that is zero backlash. Adjustable crank mechanism is used for increase the range or the radius of circle traced by the worktable .speed required for machine can easily vary by using speed regulator for large plant but small plant we can easily change the motor.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. The study underscored the benefits of optimizing hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems for sustainable energy usage. Optimizing the design of solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems as examined across diverse climatic conditions in a developing country, not only enhances power generation but also improves the integration of renewable energy sources and boosts energy storage capacities, particularly beneficial for less economically prosperous regions. Additionally, the study provides valuable insights for advancing energy research in economically viable areas. Recommendations included conducting site-specific assessments, utilizing advanced modeling tools, implementing regular maintenance protocols, and enhancing communication among system components.
