How To Write A Leadership Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of writing a leadership essay may seem like a paradox in
itself. The challenge lies not only in conveying the essential elements of leadership but also in the
meta-awareness required to guide the reader through the process of constructing such an essay.
It demands a delicate balance between providing insightful advice and demonstrating those very
principles within the essay itself.
Attempting to articulate the nuances of leadership in a written form requires a deep
understanding of the subject matter. One must grapple with the challenge of translating abstract
concepts into concrete examples, making sure to strike a chord with the audience. Moreover, the
author must embody the qualities of a leader within the narrative, as the essay serves as both a
guide and an embodiment of the principles it seeks to expound.
The difficulty amplifies when considering the varied perspectives on leadership. Different
schools of thought offer diverse frameworks, from transformational to situational leadership.
Navigating through this myriad of theories while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative
can be a daunting task.
Furthermore, a leadership essay demands a heightened level of introspection. The author is
required to reflect on personal experiences, drawing connections between theory and practice.
This introspective journey often involves self-discovery, adding an extra layer of complexity to
the writing process.
In essence, writing an essay on how to write a leadership essay involves a delicate dance
between theory and practice, personal reflection and universal principles. It is a challenging
endeavor that demands not only a mastery of the subject matter but also an ability to

Crisis Communication Strategy
The company eBay Inc. is an American multinational Internet consumer to consumer
corporation. Founded in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar in San Jose, California, it is now a
multi billion dollar business with operations localized in over thirty countries
including China and India. It s main enterprise is eBay.com, an online auction and
shopping websitethat allows people and businesses to buy and sell a broad variety of
goods and services internationally. Millions of collectibles, dГ©cor, appliances,
computers, furnishings, equipment, domain names, vehicles, services, intangibles
and other miscellaneous items are listed, bought, or sold daily on eBay. Anything can
be auctioned on the site as long as it is not illegal and does not violate the eBay s
Prohibited and Restricted Items policy.
Since eBay is a huge, widely used company that is constantly in the public s eye
and has a worldwide reach, I thought it would be an adequate choice as a global
transnational corporation that I would create a preparedness plan for, predicting
three possible crises and appropriate responses, protocols and planned messages for
each scenario. The first crisis to plague this company is that the site goes down. The
second crisis is that eBay s secret partnership with data brokers is exposed, and the
final crisis is that terrorists hack into the site and cipher private member information.
This essay will attempt to combat the crises and lessen the blow of actual damages
inflicted to the company.

Amy Tan s Joy Luck Club Essay
Throughout The Joy Luck Club Amy Tan inserts various conflicts betweens mothers
and daughters. Most of these relationships, already very fragile, become distanced
through heritage, history and expectations. These differences cause reoccurring
clashes between two specific mother daughter bonds. The first relationship exists
between Waverly Jong and her mother, Lindo. Lindo tries to instill Chinese qualities
in her daughter while Waverly refuses to recognize her heritage and concentrates on
American culture. The second bond is that of Jing Mei Woo and her mother, Suyuan.
In the beginning of the book Jing Mei speaks of confusion in her recently deceased
mother s actions. The language and cultural barrier presented between Jing Mei and
Suyuan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why do you have to use me to show off? (101). Waverly s bitterness increases the
separation between mother and child. Jing Mei doesn t believe her mother because
her stories always change but she doesn t understand as Suyuan does that the details
are unimportant. What s important in Chinese storytelling is the message. I never
thought my mother s Kweilin story was anything but a Chinese fairy tale. The
endings always changed. Sometimes she said she used that worthless thousand yuan
not to buy a half cup of rice (12). Another contributor to the conflicts in these
relationships is history. Both Lindo and Suyuan had remarkably different childhoods
without most the opportunities their daughters have. The circumstances in which
they grew up were much different yea their children have a difficult time
understanding that. My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in
America. You could open a restaurant. You could would for the government and get
good retirement. You could buy a house with almost no money down. You could
become rich. You could become instantly famous. В‘Of course you can be prodigy,

Argumentative Essay On Plastic Bags
The Plastic Bag Takeover As the United States deals with the overwhelming amounts
of waste building up, Nitin et al explain that plastics take anywhere from 15 to 1000
years to biodegrade once they are discarded (Nitin). Changes in recycling methods
can no longer keep up with the exorbitant amount of wasteproduced in the United
States. This is why some states choose to take their initiative one step further by
placing either fees or a ban on the use of plastic bags. Due to the enormous waste the
United States produces on a daily basis and the negative outcomes of this trash
including adverse health effects, harmful impacts on nature, and the exponential
piling of trash in landfills, the US government should ban plastic bags.
When citizens discard plastic bags in the outdoors, they unknowingly contribute to
the spreading of powerful illnesses. Through the pooling of rainwater, thrown away
bags contribute to the transmission of mosquito born illnesses, such as Malaria
(Trilling). Given the wet, warm environment that a littered plastic bag provides,
mosquitoes receive the ideal setting they need to breed. With increased mosquito
breeding, American s are left more susceptible to harmful illnesses. One simple way
to reduce the littering of plastic bags, is to make plastic bags harder to access in the
first place. Additionally, the creation of plastic bags commonly involves many
harmful chemicals that in turn play a role in causing detrimental health effects and
conditions. Substances in plastic products designed to enhance performance, and
make them desirable to consumers, often contain harmful ingredients (Ecology
Center). Plastic bags are a commonly overlooked destructive item that might
contribute to health problems. When foods are packaged alongside plastic,
chemicals migrate from the plastic packaging to the foods, one example being the
chemical Polyethylene, a substance suspected to be a carcinogen (Ecology Center).
The government has a duty to protect its citizens and one form of protection is
keeping people away from especially harmful chemicals and substances. The only
way to ensure citizens do not come into contact with these harmful substances on a
daily basis through plastic bags is to ban them
Fantastic Salesman Research Paper
Discovering the best ways to be a fantastic salesman is a great skill to discover.
Yes, you could be wanting to learn ways to offer because of your existing line of
work, but learning the trade can be a important device in lots of things you come
across in every day life. People attempt to sell you things daily. If you ve been in
their shoes, you understand where they are coming from, but after you discover the
best ways to sale yourself, you comprehend why they say the things they do, and you
understand exactly ways to counter their statements, and address their concerns to
ensure you get what you want from the offer!
The most crucial thing in my viewpoint when it involves offering, is that as a
salesperson you have to emanate confidence. No, you don t want to be cocky or self
important, but you do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is difficult to be confident about something when you know deep down, it isn t that
great, or there is something out there that is better. (Unless your a used car salesman!)
J/K.
The next things on my listing of how to be a fantastic salesman is the ability to pay
attention. You need to pay attention 80 % of the time, while talking 20 % of the time.
Listen intently to your customers requirements or concerns. Let them believe that
they are in control of the scenario, all the while you are thinking about the best
method to approach the client. Discover exactly what they require, and find a option
to that requirement.
Make a connection with the consumer. The customer should feel how to be a
wonderful salesmanlike you can relate and comprehend them. With this in mind,
you can not approach each sale the same way. You would sell in a different way to
a biker kind male than you would to a 70 year old lady. You have to find a method
to develop a trust to engage in purposeful chat. It is very tough to sale to someone that
you have trouble building a connection with. Research your customers tone, language,

The Problem of Teen Alcoholism in the United States Essay
Teen alcoholism is a problem that has been plaguing the United States for many
decades now. The legal age for alcohol consumption is twenty one years old in every
state of the United States, but this law is commonly broken. The fact that it has not
been strictly enforced caused an outbreak of alcohol consumption between minors all
over, and because of this, we have been accepting teenage drinking more than ever.
The problem lies in the lack of law enforcement, the acceptance by parents and
guardians, and the overall attitude of teenagers themselves. Although there are many
ways to attempt to treat alcoholism, we find few solutions to be effective (Underage
Drinking, 2012). Alcoholism is defined as a disorder characterized by the... Show

The most popular problem that occurs with drinking is academic problems, others
include things such as trauma, date rape, recklessness, vandalism and pregnancy in
women. In a recent study 56,000 students reported a slip in their grades. Students
went from an A to D s and F s, their GPA s dropped which will effects their future
career plans as well as any scholarships they are receiving or attempting to receive
(MADD[a], 2015). Alcoholism is the most common drug abuse problem in the
United States. Eleven million Americans suffer from it. This abuse occurs in several
different ways: loss of control over drinking, getting drunk daily, or drinking every
weekend. It is usually marked by withdrawal symptoms and by increasing tolerance
for alcohol. It is a chronic, progressive, relapsing brain disease. Five percent of
Americans die of alcoholism and ninety five percent of alcoholics die of
alcoholism. Its physical, social, and psychological effects tend to get progressively
worse (High Cost, 2015). Is alcoholism genetic or is it due to lack of self control?
Through research, Dr. Robert R. Perkinson attests that alcoholism is nothing to be
ashamed of because it is genetic. There are different genetic types of alcoholism.
Perkinson distinguished two forms of alcoholism. One type is an environmental
related type of alcoholism, associated with recurrent alcohol abuse, but without
criminality in the biological parents. The other type was found to be highly
Salina Health Care Center ( Sfhc )
Introduction
Salina Health Education Foundation, founded in 1979 and Salina Care founded in
1991, merged in 2004 to form Salina Family Health Care Center (SFHC). Since the
inception the clinic has served Saline County with health and dental care for
uninsured and low income residents. In addition the clinic has provided residency
programs for family medicine physicians for future roles as providers to rural Kansas
towns. In December of 2004 SHEF became a Federally Qualified Health Center

The following questions were answered in line with the 2013 CLAS Standards.
The Principal Standard: Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful
quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and
practices, preferred languages, health literacy, and other communication needs.
Mrs. Mack replied this standard was a broad standard and went on to address each
aspect of the standard in great detail.
The effectiveness of the health care we provide at Salina Family Health Care is
measured routinely. For example, there is a health care plan that encompasses 16
different aspects of health care that we ve determined to be important to our
patient population. For these 16 goals we have 34 specific interventions we ve
implemented to help us achieve these goals. We receive a monthly report of our
progress toward meeting these goals which might include getting blood pressure
readings below 140/90, catching women up who need a pap smear or encouraging
smoking cessation in persons who smoke. This health care plan drives our practice
and the feedback we receive for our efforts guide our practice daily.
The care we provide at Salina Family Health Care I would consider to be equitable.
We provide services to anyone who is alive, very simply put. We do not discriminate
on the basis of gender, color, nationality, residency status, ability or disability, or
whether or not they can pay for
Techniques of Interrogation
Techniques of Interrogation
One of the best training programs to implement into the police department is the Reid
interrogation techniques. Interrogation and interviewing techniques became popular
in 1947 by John E. Reid and Associates. Joseph P. Buckley stated that The Reid
Technique of Interviewing and Interrogation is now the most widely used approach
to question subjects in the world (Buckley P. J., 2000). There three parts to the Reid
process for solving a crime. The first stage that should be taking is to collect and
analyze relative information from the crime scene thing that offers insight to the
possible suspect and determine the direction an investigation should take. The second
stage of the process interviewing people of interest using Behavior Analysis Interview
(BAI) (Buckley P. J., 2000). The Behavior Analysis Interview is a non accusatory
process that allows detectives to interview a suspect using a question and answer
procedure to provoke a suspect to show non verbal truthfulness or deception. The
third stage, if the offender has not admitted to the crime an accusatory interrogation is
administered (Leave no marks, 2007). The Reid interrogation technique is believed to
be a fail proof technique ,however, there are some reservations against using this
technique on juvenile offenders (Constitutional Law(n.d). Implementing the Reid
technique into the police departments learning curriculum will truly
Norman Rockwell s The Runaway
Description Norman Rockwell s piece of work, The Runaway, is painted on a
canvas. This famous artwork is known as an oil painting. The Runaway was painted
during 1958 and measures 35 x 33 . This amazing piece of work can currently be
found in the Norman Rockwell Museum in his collection of artworks. This museum
is located in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Normal Rockwell used state trooper
Richard J. Clemens Jr. to model as the state trooper in the painting and used eight
year old Ed Locke to pose as the boy. The painting was created at the Howard
Johnson s Restaurant. The Runaway s scene shows a little boy sitting at a counter.
He looks to be the subject of the artwork. He looks like he may be around the age of
eight and has short, almost buzzed cut, blonde hair. This little boy is wearing a yellow
shirt, blue jeans, and a brown belt. His shirt is tucked in and he has what looks like
a jacket in his lap. He jeans are scrunched up, showing his white socks and shoes.
The laces on his shoes seem to be untied. To the boy s left sits a state trooper. He
looks to be in his late thirties or possible early forties. He is in his full officer
uniform, which consists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking at the artwork it is easy to see the fatherly feeling Norman Rockwell
put into it. When anyone thinks about a runaway child, you would not picture this
image Rockwell created. It overflows with a safe, secure feeling that the child is
okay. This is what Norman Rockwell wanted however. He wanted to show the
importance of keeping children safe and therefore put two fatherly figures in the
painting with the boy. Norman could have painted it with just the boy sitting there
alone and a waiter who ignored him. This would make us think the boy is alone and
has no protection. However, Rockwell did not want that to be the message. Instead he
depicted the two men as the boy s protection till the parents showed
Animal Cruelty Research Papers
Animal Cruelty Research Paper Have you ever had a pet that you would consider
family? Well a lot of families have had pets and considered them as family
members. There are many people who, use animals in bad ways or just don t take
care of pets. It is just shocking to see an animal being, abused or just not being fed
because it is painful for them. It s just really sad to see animals on the streets who
are starving or dead from being run over by cars. Not only dogs or cats, but
chickens and roosters also. They use them to fight and get money. There are so many
small things that people don t take care of their pets. One way is just letting their dog
or cat sit in the car and when the owner comes back. The pet is dead. Not only that
but penal code 597.7 says, Does not allow you to leave any animals in an unattended
car with conditions that can endanger the animal, or animals. Those conditions can be
hot or cold weather, lack of ventilation, not food or water to sustain the animal, or any
condition that can make the dog suffer or even cause death. (From... Show more

sure you take care of its health by taking it to the vet once it s sick. Sure it sounds
like a lot of responsibility but, the animal is yours and you wanted took on the

Pius XII Rationale
What was Pope Pius XII s rationale for not explicitly condemning the Nazi
persecution of the Jews? (How can we explain his diplomatic or strategic approach to
this issue?)
World War II was a contentious period in the long blighted history of Europe. By
1942 most of Europe was under a totalitarian regime, experiencing the most
conscientious effort to eradicate a race of people in history, the Holocaust. A
spectator of this carnage was the Catholic Church, whose leadership remained silent
towards the Holocaust. Pope Pius XII chose to combat the Nazis through quiet
diplomacy, never explicitly condemning the Nazi s treatment and massacre of the
Jews. Pius XII s silence was prompted by a number of factors, which he believed
were necessary to protecting the European Jews. At the beginning of the war, Pius
XII chose to leave any condemnation of the Nazis to the local bishops because he
believed that they were in a better position to assess the dangers posed by the
oppressive regimes. Pius XII felt that if had condemned the Nazis, he would have
endangered the Jews, citing that when a Catholic Bishop in Belgium spoke out
against the Nazi s 20,000 Jews were killed, if he had condemned the Nazis a
possible 400,000 Jews could have been killed in response. This rationalization comes
from the idea that in order to avoid exacerbating the situation, Pius XII would have to
remain silent against the Nazis. Pius XII s silence can be further explained by his
willingness to negotiate with the
Student Diversity At Our School
When I went on stage during our weekly assembly and announced the start of
affinity groups at our school, I was oblivious to the reaction of the hundreds of
students in the audience. I was focused on speaking clearly and getting through my
short speech, excited by what I was announcing. I didn t know that the few
sentences I read off a piece of paper would change my perception of my school, my
friends, and myself. Almost as soon as I got out of the assembly, before I even got
to my next class, I began hearing people criticizing affinity groups. Many people
were saying that this was segregating students, that we were being reverse racists ,
that there was no need for the groups or any discussions about race, that SDLC (the

The only people who had had any experience with these groups were the people
who had attended the SDLC conference, where we participated in our respective
affinity groups. Soon after we announced the start of the groups, other students
confronted me about the groups. Many people had an almost visceral reaction
against the concept of the groups, having been taught for so long that it is wrong
to single out people for their race. I understand why it was hard for people to
acknowledge the need for these groups, as it meant acknowledging that our whole
system had flaws; that there was still racism and prejudice within our community.
This is not something people were comfortable discussing. My school s motto is
Excellence and Honor and many students are incredibly smart and high achieving.
We pride ourselves not just on our academic strength but on our honor code and
ethical behavior. This made people particularly hesitant to pop the bubble of
excellence and perfection by discussing things like racism. I d like to think that I am
naturally an open minded and accepting person, but perhaps if I hadn t been to the
SDLC conference and participated in the affinity groups there, I too would have been
skeptical of the program. The introduction of something so new and unfamiliar was
Registered Nurses
When being a registered nurse, there are many things to do and a ton of
responsibility, but there are a lot of benefits to gain from that. Also, when applying
for a job to be a registered nurse, it doesn t require very much.
A registered nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and has met
the requirements summarized by a country or state licensing body in order to get a
nursing license. Registered nurses help doctors in providing treatment to patients
suffering from different medical conditions. They may handle the medication, check
patient s recovery and progress, provide and organize plans for patient care, perform
diagnostic tests and scan the results, instruct patients on how to control their illnesses
after treatment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best benefit of this job is that registered nurses may arrange their work
schedules for their need. One may find a number of job opportunities with different
time requirements like 4, 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts, or work on weekends or weekdays
or both. Registered nurses usually take a higher salary than any other nurse, and have
better options for a career change. They also have a strong job outlook. Their salary
depends on the experience, type of organization, educational background, and
location. A nurse with highly specialized skills and experience is definitely paid
more. The median yearly salary of registered nurses in the United States in May
2013 was $68,910. The hourly pay was $33.13. The registered nurses who worked
on weekends earned 38 dollars per hour with a day shift between 7:00 a.m through
7:30 p.m. On a night shift, the pay would be 41 dollars per hour through 7:00 p.m
to 7:30 a.m. Registered nurses also have fringe benefits. Fringe benefits are extra
benefits increasing an employee s salary. Apart from this, these professionals may
also have paid holidays and paid time off. This means that they can get payment
from each hour that they have not worked. For example, in some places, if you had
worked for a year, you may take off a
Pros And Cons Of Inclusion In Special Education
Inclusion in the Classroom Inclusion is the act of having students with disabilities
and abled body students in the same classroom. In concept this has many benefits
not only for the students but it also saves time and money for the school, however
in practice I do not think inclusion works the way it was hoped to. Inclusion in
theory will put light strain on the classroom because of safe guards such as helper
teachers are in place to help out. In my experience these teachers are in the way most
of the time when students are trying to learn, and students feel cheated when the
special needs students are handed a supplemented test making the students feel bad.
Lastly that the pros of inclusion in the classroom are set in perfect conditions with
good teachers on both sides special education and general education, however most
of the time that is not the case. Cons of Inclusion There are obvious disadvantages
such as the lack of training, general education teacher will have in dealing with
disabled students. A teacher trained specifically in special education could and would
provide a much better service to the students that need it. Another issue is depending
on the nature of a child s disability, it can affect the way that a student behaves.
According to the ERIC article, that pupil s misbehavior and disrespect can be so
intense that it disrupts the learning environment (Koolbreeze, 2017). This type of
misbehavior could also be expressed in students without disabilities,
How to Gain the Most from the Media in Our Lives Essay
Media has always been an important factor in society, and it always will be. The
way an individual discerns the world dictates how they interact with it, but the
dichotomy between media and society goes both ways. People perceive media
differently based on experiences in their lives, within each decade a shift in norms,

Essay On Poison Ivy
[ ] In clip 1, it is evident that I was able to deepen children s language and literacy
development by incorporating science and language arts into instruction. For
example, in clip 1, children are asked about their prior knowledge of poison ivy and
are then able to make connections to poison ivy through the mentor text, Fancy
Nancy Poison IvyExpert . I chose this text in order for children to make connections
with the anatomy and characteristics of poison ivy due to this plant being popular in
our area. After asking the children about their prior knowledge of poison ivy, we

How does Concentration affect the rate of reaction between Magnesium and
Hydrochloric acid?
Secondary resources:
Chemical reactions only occur when reacting particles collide with each other, with
sufficient energy to react, this is called the collision theory. The minimum amount of
energy required to cause this reaction is called the Activation energy. There are four
main factors which affect the rate of reaction. The first factor is:
Temperature of reactants:
When the temperature increases the particles move around faster
(because they have more energy). Because the particles are moving faster , they are
more likely to collide. When the temperature is low, the particles are slower and they
also collide less. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Self Assessment Essay
Abstract
When examining your own personal assessment I found some interesting views of
myself by working through the Pearson Prentice Hall Self Assessment Library.
Some of the judgments resulting from the tests have surprised me, while other
results confirmed what I already suspected. This assessment will examine and give
some insight on who I am in the business world, how I work with others in the
realm of business, and life within my organization. I will also explain how the Holy
Spirit has worked in my life to transform my weakness into strengths to become a
better person, employee, and leader.

I believe that this is a fair assessment of my abilities to make decisions when
required to complete a project. Ethical decision making is imperative to good
business practices and is a main focus at my company. Dr. Fischer states in Lesson
Two that the ethical perspectives provides a framework of values by which to make
decisions for society (Fischer, 2009). I believe that all organizations have a code of
ethics that accompany the businesses plan for achievement and success.
Working with Others
Communication, Leadership, Team, Power and Conflict Skills In any organization,
working with others is a necessity to accomplish its goals. Several factors must exist
in order to reach the expectation and include communication, leadership and team
building skills. In the PowerPoint Presentation, communication is defined as the
transference and understanding of meaning (Stretch, 2009), which tells us that we
must have a clear idea of what is expected and how we do the task. To carry out the
task at hand, effective teams are comprised of different skill sets. These are technical
expertise, problem solving and decision making and interpersonal skills (Robbins
Judge, 2009, p 330). In the process of the team, power and conflict issues could occur.
During these struggles, effective communication and leadership take on the
challenges of focusing the team and resolving the issues to move forward.

Old South vs. New South in O Conner s Everything That Rises Must Converge
Flannery O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge depicts a stifling mother
son relationship in which the conflict is never resolved, or even acknowledged. This
relationship is a metaphor which describes the transition from the Old South, with its
inherent values used to justify slavery and segregation, to the New South, striving for
justice based on equality. Mrs, Chestney (old South) and her son Julian (New South)
represent, on an individual scale, the interactions of their corresponding
constituencies, The world is a mess everywhere... I don t know how we ve let it get

Kathleen Feeley wrote that eventually the mother s culture of the heart fails
because it is unreal , and her inability to advise Julian clearly is indicative of this.
Julian does not like his mother. To him, she is an embarrassment, a burden, and
backward. He has learned to identify racism, and has learned to argue against it,
However, when his mother is the perpetrator, the issue becomes wrapped around the
hostility he feels for her. For example, he resents her methods of motherhood, or
perhaps her headstrong commitment to her unwitting ignorance. Most likely, when
taking the issue into account, he feels the most anger towards her for raising him
as a racist, and now, despite an education that presumes the opposite, he finds that
he remains racist. Instead of addressing these problems, he seeks to belittle her,
When the large Negro woman first enters the story, he immediately wished that she

herself into [the seat next to his] . His lack of insight regarding their relationship is
revealed when he has fantasies of presenting his mother with a Black acquaintance:
either a business associate, a lover, or even the doctor whom he could hire to heal
her. When he asks the man with the newspaper for a light (with neither cigarettes nor
the desire to smoke), he embarrasses himself solely to confound her. He remains

The Indian Experience Of India
Indian Experience
India is the second largest populous country in the world with a diverse population
and culture. It is one of the oldest civilizations dating back 4,500 years. The
population is made up of numerous different ethnicities and religions. The culture
was heavily influenced by different civilizations that once occupied India; food is no
exception. Indian cuisine is known for its diverse and wide ranging assortment of
dishes as well as its extensive variety of herbs and especially spices (Live Science,
2015). The knowledge of this is what inspired my Cultural Experience choice. As an
experience in cultural diversity, I chose to go to an Indian Restaurant and then shop
at an Indian grocery store. I spent two hours at ... Show more content on

We arrived shortly after 1pm, so the restaurant did not have many patrons. There
were only two other tables occupied at the time. One was a large Indian family
seated at a long row of tables down the center of the restaurant and the other was a
table of Caucasian women in the booth behind ours. Our server, the same man who
seated us, brought us water and directed us toward the buffet. The first thing I noticed
when approaching the buffet was the smell. There were so many different spices and
food smells lingering in the air it was unbelievably appetizing. The buffet was rather
extensive, with about 20 different dish options to choose from including naan and
dessert. I did not hesitate. I took a little bit of everything until my plate was full. I
then proceeded to cover the plate with several pieces of garlic naan. The food was
simply delicious. It ranged from every level of spiciness without being so spicy
that it killed the taste. My favorite dishes were a spiced zucchini dish and the Aloo
Mater which is a potato and green pea dish with a perfect blend of Indian spices.
Also, the naan was extraordinary; soft and crispy with slivered green onion and
pureed garlic spread on top. We also ordered chai which was delicious and had the
right amount of warmth and caffeine for the afternoon. It complimented the Kheer
(an Indian style rice pudding) perfectly. The food was an overall amazing experience.

Factors Affecting Human Population Growth
Stunting Human Population Growth
No Population can have an ongoing exponential growth without having a limit that
rules over the population s size. This limit is called the carrying capacity. Carrying
capacity is the number of people, animals and crops that a region can support without
environmental degradation. The way things are now, the human population is going to
break through its carrying capacity very soon. Exceeding the carrying capacity means
that the number of humans roaming the earth is greater than the number of humans
the food supply can hold. Therefore, the only way to avoid a future battle for food is
by reducing the birth rate of newborns in families across the globe.
There is three ways that can prove effective against our growing population. 1.Laws:
One way for a country or other ruling authoritative body to control population growth
is to institute laws that prohibit high fertility. 2.Contraception: Another important way
to limit population growth is to increase the rate of contraception among the
population. 3.Economics: When the cost of having a child is extremely high, it
deters parents from having more than a couple of kids. Everyone have their own
opinion on which of these methods would work best in keeping our population under
check. However, I believe that even though that all of these methods can prohibit high
fertility, only through contraception and education the population will stay under
control for the longest time. According to the
Adverse Development for Children in Pageants
I remember being home one day, surfing through the television channels. I
stumbled on TLC, and saw a show named Toddlers in Tiaras. The show is about
child beauty pageants and all the work children have to do, and also all the money
parents put into it. It portrays how crazy some moms could be, and how spoiled
some children are. Beauty pageants can boost confidence and self esteem, but it is
degrading to women all over the world. Only one part deals with intelligence, but
that doesn t prove anything. Someone could easily come up with an answer out of
thin air, say it out loud and everyone would think she is brilliant because of how
much words they say. Child beauty pageants deprive children of their childhood.
Parents become obsessed with winning and they take away the joy that their
children could possibly have while in or preparing for a pageant. The controversial
question on beauty pageants is: Does competing in beauty pageants adversely affect
child development? My answer is yes it does, and in the following I will explain
why. Some pageant parents don t adequately prepare their kids for pageants, so the
girls don t really know what to expect. If they don t win, they might take it personally
and get hurt feelings. Children might end up feeling unattractive or inadequate in
some other way. Child pageants are also time consuming. To be competitive in the
larger pageants, contestants have to spend hours practicing their smile, their walk,
and their turns. The day of the

Diagnostic Medical Sonography was introduced into my life suddenly when I was
15 years old. At that time, I was told that I had a blood clot running the length of my
leg starting in my popliteal vein. Ultrasound after ultrasound I found myself
becoming more and more interested with what was happening on the screen. Since I
went to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for majority of my ultrasounds,
I always had a student coming into my exams. On my very last exam, I started asking
the sonographerquestions about the exam. This meant that not only could the

work with patients of all ages, from pediatrics on up. How you talk and approach a

they want but what the parents or legal guardians want. An 85 year old knows
exactly how they want you to accommodate them. Working in the adult psychiatry
outpatient unit has really showed me how to deal with people who have more than
a physical injury. Some people are mentally unstable at times, interacting with them

Jefferson`s Pillow by Roger Wilkins Introduction This book is titled as such
because the first memory Jefferson had was being carried on a pillow by a slave
riding a horseback. In a time when Americans either criticize or congratulate the
founders due to the History of the state, Wilkins sees these men for who they are,
their rights and their wrongs, and acknowledges them for who they are and what they
did for the country He blends family history, national history and personal philosophy.
He studies four Virginians: Jefferson, Mason, Madison, and Washington. He looks at
their lives, culture, studies their writing, and extracts their views on freedom and
slavery. His book focuses on slavery and racism in America. This book questions
the loyalty of the African Americans whose history of the country is sad and
horrifying. Were the founding Fathers great men? How does someone stay patriotic
to a country that in the past doubted his/her humanity? How is it that these
founding fathers were so vocal about human rights and freedom, yet they
themselves kept/owned slaves? Can the black man believe in America? To which
his outstanding answer is a terrifying yes. Answering to a question about what he

Entertainment In The 1920 s
America has always been searching for new types of entertainment. In the early
twenty first century, cutting edge technology and pastimes were introduced. Nightlife
was increased due to flappers and jazz music, and the invention of the radio provided
amusement and paved the way for more technology. Entertainmentprovided a way to
relieve stress in the Roaring Twenties. Even sports offered a time of leisure for the
busiest individuals. The rise of different types of entertainment in the 1920smade a
long lasting impact on Americans. Sports became a popular type of past time for
America in the 1920s due to the attention from the media. The decade was often
called the Golden age of Sports because they became popular so quickly (Baughman).
Acute Pancreatitis Research Paper
Pancreatitis is a disease that involves the pancreas. The pancreas is considered a large
gland which is located behind the stomach and right next to the small intestine. There
are two main functions that the pancreas does; one, It releases powerful digestive
enzymes into the small intestine to aid the digestionof food, and two, It releases the
hormones insulin and glucagon into the bloodstream. These hormones help the body
control how it uses food for energy (Digestive Disorders Health Center, 2005 2015).
With pancreatitis disease, it means that the pancreasis becoming inflamed. When this
happens the digestive enzymes become active which releases it into the small intestine
and starts attacking the pancreas. There are two types of pancreatitis, acute and
chronic. Starting off with acute pancreatitis, it sudden inflammation which last for a

Leo s Fight For The Peace Of The Clearing
Somewhere in the USA there was a forest, a forest with a clearing that all the
animals worked together in to gather food and water. All was peaceful at this
clearing, birds sang and foxes ran about, until Leo made a discovery that threatened
the peace of the clearing.
Leo was a young, prideful, but brave mouse. Even though Leo was a small mouse,
he still wanted to make big changes and discover new things. Leo never gave up his
passion to succeed and he grew up on the clearing to be a smart and brave mouse,
discovering new paths and new things to try.
Leo had always viewed the clearing as his home and he did whatever he could to

When he got to the center of the clearing he saw the biggest structure he had ever

abandoned, Leo found some bags of trash that hinted at recent human activity. Of
course, Leo panicked as soon as he saw that humans could be nearby. His mother
had told him about the big humans that lived in large boxes and did whatever they
could to get a mouse out of their home. Oh my! , Leo exclaimed, I better get out of
here before the humans find me! And with that, he ran as fast as he could back to the

Now even thought Leo had saved the clearing many times, he was known to be a

he ran across the clearing people were not taking it as seriously as he hoped for

Joe Hill Magicians
Introduction
Audiences have at all times throughout history been amazed by illusions performed
for them for the purpose of entertainment by the means of magicians. Some of these
magicians include David Copperfield, who made the Statue of Liberty disappear,
Harry Houdini, who was most famous for his escape tricks, and Robert Houdin, who
would read the audience s mind. In spite of the fact that many of these magicians
appear to have done their magic through some supernatural force, in reality, the
magicians use their sleight of hand in order to change the perspective of the audience.
According to the article, Magic as a Cooperative Deceit, the author states that magic
is an attempt to change the belief of the audience that something out ... Show more

The psychology of magic tricks is also affected from person to person. The
experience of an individual may be different among other individuals based on past
experience and expectations. For example, this article, There s more to magic than
meets the eye includes the illusion of a ball being thrown up; however, the ball
stays in the illusionist s hand. About 68% of people fall for the trick because of
the fact that their expectation is that the ball will go up and their past experience
is the fact that they have seen a ball thrown up numerous times. Furthermore, the
social cuing of the illusionist inspired the social cuing of the audience into
believing the direction of the ball to go up. Consequently, this shows that the
audience of a magician may not all be affected and some may experience no
illusion. In addition, Illusions are based on many things. A good magician uses
The Cooperative Principle . This law basically states that the cause precedes the
effect in time, cause and effect are contiguous in time and place, and there is a
history of regularity in the precedence and contiguity of cause and effect. These
rules may be applied to illusions due to the fact that the magician uses the
cooperation of the audience and their sleight of hand. The cause in a simple trick
along the lines of pulling a rabbit is the magician s sleight of hand and the effect
Plot Summary and Review of The Manchurian Candidate

The suspenseful thriller, The Manchurian Candidate, was directed by John
Frankenheimer, and written by George Axelrod. The movie is based on a 1959
novel written by Richard Condon. It was released in 1962 but was pulled after the
assassination of John F. Kennedy, only to be re released in 1987 and remade in 2004.
The Manchurian Candidateis a movie about a government conspiracy mainly
involving a former Korean Prisoner Of War, Sergeant Raymond Shaw, played by

There are specific messages portrayed throughout the movie, mostly by
characterizations. I happened to notice that when Ben Marco was having his
reoccurring dream, the audience was white and so were most of the people. When
the African American man was having the same reoccurring dream, most all of the
people in it were African American. Mrs. Iselin s admiration for Abraham Lincoln
in my own opinion is due to the fact that he was a Loyalist and not a Communist,
and she hates Communists, and he was also a great and powerful leader of our
nation. These were her goals not only for herself but also for her son and her
husband. She even made her husband dress up as Abraham Lincoln for the
costume party she hosted and she had a huge picture of Abraham Lincoln hanging
over her fireplace in her home, as well as in her dining room. The message the
audience gets about politicians and politics of that time period are that they may
have been a bit corrupt. She and her husband were not playing by fair rules to win
his nomination, and they were even going to the extent as to have his opponent
killed. Ironically, when John F. Kennedy was assassinated, this movie probably
contributed to the different conspiracies of his death because of the parallel of the
winner of the presidency in this film being shot. You also get the
The Importance Of Living In A Big City In California
Living in a big city has its perks such as great job opportunities and depending on

everyone because the people there are so nice and they re young hopefuls looking
for the next big thing, some are just trying to live their dream, it takes a lot of guts
just to pack up your stuff and leave. To describe the west in just one word is

The Legend Of King Arthur And Le Morte DArthur
Has a book or movie given enjoyment through a hard time? Thomas Malory and
Terry Gilliam have opposing writing styles as a result of the context they wrote
their texts in. Thomas Malory, author of Le Morte d Arthur, writes his book as a
compilation of tales and Terry Gilliam writes his version as a script for a movie.
While both Gilliam and Malory use an episodic narrative, Gilliam writes his movie
as a parody to mock old England and other versions of the Legend of King Arthur,
and Malory uses his book as a story that includes immense details about a legend.
While Le Morte d Arthur and Monty Python and the Holy Grailboth share a common
plot, the works differ on intended purpose and tone. The audiences each author tries
to appease changes each author s writing style; Thomas Malory is trying to appease a
fifteenth century audience who is traumatized by numerous uprisings and despair due
to a history of atrocious kings, while Terry Gilliamis trying to entertain a more
modern audience that wants a humorous and satirical movie. The intended purpose of
each of the authors, differ in that each are delivering their works to a situationally
different audience. In the fifteenth century, when Le Morte d Arthur was written,
people were just beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel after a history of
tyrannical kings. Even so, one of the worst Kings of England ever was King Richard
III who was reigning just as the book was written. Although King Richard was not the
The Importance Of Leadership In A Hispanic Culture
The workplace is rapidly changing and becoming more diverse culturally,
demographically, and racially. In an environment that is changing so rapidly,
organizations are seeking leaders that are trustworthy, can decrease uncertainty, and
possess cultural intelligence (Ploumis Devick, 2017). As leaders, we must increase
our understanding in order to adapt our style of leadershipto be better equipped to
lead in this changing environment. Expanding our awareness, knowledge, and skills
is one way leaders will be more prepared and ready to lead effectively. According to
the United StatesCensus Bureau (2016), the Hispanicpopulation of the United States
is the largest ethnic or racial minority in the United States, with a population of over
56 million. By the year 2050, it is projected that one out of every four Americans
will be of Hispanic descent (Caraballo, McLaughlin, McLaughlin, 2014). Hispanics
in the United States includes any person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or
Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race (Centers for
Disease Control, n.d, p. 1). As a non Hispanic leader, working in a Hispanic work
environment, understanding the culture will help you be more effective as you
interact with Hispanic teammates.
Hispanics experience a great deal of prejudice and discrimination, the result of a
perceived economic and cultural threat that Hispanics pose to non Hispanics
(Trujillo, 2011). Hispanics have a deep belief that all

animation as a medium for storytelling and believe it is meant for children. This is
why Anime has not hit as powerfully in the states as it has in Japan and other
countries. This is why there is hardly any market base for it.
One reason why there is no market for it in the U.S. is that Anime is highly
stereotypical. The stereotype image of Japanese Anime and manga (Japanese comic
books) has gotten worse lately (Izawa 1). Non watchers of Anime seem to think that
it is all about big eyes, big breasts, big hair, mechs (huge robots), and lots of gore.
One example of this stereotype is a 30 minute show called Battle Suit Lakers EX. A
company called Kitty produced this particular show. Kitty is known throughout the
realm of Japanimaniacs as the smut of the art form. In this show, 5 well endowed
young women have battle suits that they don when trouble arises. The transformation

The camera films a close up shot of the children eating the meat to imply that what
they are doing is something they do not usually do, as their father does not allow it.
This is emphasized when a long shot of the house, shows that the house is empty
and their father is not home. Maneer comes down the stairs and a low angle shot is
used to show how he is looking down on his siblings for eating pork. When Meenah
notices that George is coming up the street, the camera does a very far zoom on
him. This emphasizes that he is not far away from the house. Music is also used in
this clip to show how the kids are frantic about their father coming home and fast cuts
scenes are also used to build up the suspense and make the situation seem frantic. The
music shifts from dramatic to an up tempo melody, which suggest that the situation

Dispossessed And Patterns Recognition Essay
Thesis:
Women s role in science fiction and how it reflects our society
Women s role changing
Throughout Wool, The dispossessed and Pattern recognition, we are exposed to
many female characters in these novels. Although science fiction has long been
defined as a genre dominated by men, it is so surprising to see that women character
has played dominate roles in these novels. The impact of women on these novels can
be clearly observed, but each book depicts women character so differently that made
me curious about knowing further about women s status and roles play in society and
how they change over time.
To start with The Dispossessed, which published 1974, tells the story of the two
worlds, Anarres and Urras, which are very different from each other. The passage
marks a series of gendered differences between the two societies: the people live and
work in Annares treat women as their equal companions and a partner that can be
with them in the sexual relationship. They will give ... Show more content on

Pattern recognition explores a women, Cayce Pollard, removes all the logos from
her own clothing as a way to preserve her identity. In contrast to the women
presented in the podcast fetish in Japan in BBC that women were portrayed to meet
social expectation: they tend to dress up cute and do services that met men s
expectation, this novel seems to portray a woman who rather possesses a sense of
individuality and her characters are not fixed by the rigid rules or social
expectation to her. She does not define herself as propriety to society or men. She
makes her living by her unique abilities. From my perspective, it is a sign that
women s role in society today is heading to a status that they gradually possess the
conscious of identity rather than a dependent. Gibson intentionally portrays Cayce in
such way to illustrate to us where women s role will be headed in the near

Anything can be auctioned on the site as long as it is not illegal and does not violate the eBay s Prohibited and Restricted Items policy. Since eBay is a huge, widely used company that is constantly in the public s eye and has a worldwide reach, I thought it would be an adequate choice as a global transnational corporation that I would create a preparedness plan for, predicting three possible crises and appropriate responses, protocols and planned messages for each scenario. The first crisis to plague this company is that the site goes down. The second crisis is that eBay s secret partnership with data brokers is exposed, and the final crisis is that terrorists hack into the site and cipher private member information. This essay will attempt to combat the crises and lessen the blow of actual damages inflicted to the company. Crisis
  • 4. Amy Tan s Joy Luck Club Essay Throughout The Joy Luck Club Amy Tan inserts various conflicts betweens mothers and daughters. Most of these relationships, already very fragile, become distanced through heritage, history and expectations. These differences cause reoccurring clashes between two specific mother daughter bonds. The first relationship exists between Waverly Jong and her mother, Lindo. Lindo tries to instill Chinese qualities in her daughter while Waverly refuses to recognize her heritage and concentrates on American culture. The second bond is that of Jing Mei Woo and her mother, Suyuan. In the beginning of the book Jing Mei speaks of confusion in her recently deceased mother s actions. Waverly s bitterness increases the separation between mother and child. What s important in Chinese storytelling is the message. I never thought my mother s Kweilin story was anything but a Chinese fairy tale. The endings always changed. Sometimes she said she used that worthless thousand yuan not to buy a half cup of rice (12). Another contributor to the conflicts in these relationships is history. Both Lindo and Suyuan had remarkably different childhoods without most the opportunities their daughters have. The circumstances in which they grew up were much different yea their children have a difficult time understanding that. My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America. • 5. Argumentative Essay On Plastic Bags The Plastic Bag Takeover As the United States deals with the overwhelming amounts of waste building up, Nitin et al explain that plastics take anywhere from 15 to 1000 years to biodegrade once they are discarded (Nitin). Changes in recycling methods can no longer keep up with the exorbitant amount of wasteproduced in the United States. This is why some states choose to take their initiative one step further by placing either fees or a ban on the use of plastic bags. Due to the enormous waste the United States produces on a daily basis and the negative outcomes of this trash including adverse health effects, harmful impacts on nature, and the exponential piling of trash in landfills, the US government should ban plastic bags. When citizens discard plastic bags in the outdoors, they unknowingly contribute to the spreading of powerful illnesses. Through the pooling of rainwater, thrown away bags contribute to the transmission of mosquito born illnesses, such as Malaria (Trilling). Given the wet, warm environment that a littered plastic bag provides, mosquitoes receive the ideal setting they need to breed. With increased mosquito breeding, American s are left more susceptible to harmful illnesses. One simple way to reduce the littering of plastic bags, is to make plastic bags harder to access in the first place. Additionally, the creation of plastic bags commonly involves many harmful chemicals that in turn play a role in causing detrimental health effects and conditions. Substances in plastic products designed to enhance performance, and make them desirable to consumers, often contain harmful ingredients (Ecology Center). Plastic bags are a commonly overlooked destructive item that might contribute to health problems. When foods are packaged alongside plastic, chemicals migrate from the plastic packaging to the foods, one example being the chemical Polyethylene, a substance suspected to be a carcinogen (Ecology Center). The government has a duty to protect its citizens and one form of protection is keeping people away from especially harmful chemicals and substances. The only way to ensure citizens do not come into contact with these harmful substances on a daily basis through plastic bags is to ban them

The legal age for alcohol consumption is twenty one years old in every state of the United States, but this law is commonly broken. The fact that it has not been strictly enforced caused an outbreak of alcohol consumption between minors all over, and because of this, we have been accepting teenage drinking more than ever. The problem lies in the lack of law enforcement, the acceptance by parents and guardians, and the overall attitude of teenagers themselves. Although there are many ways to attempt to treat alcoholism, we find few solutions to be effective (Underage Drinking, 2012). Alcoholism is defined as a disorder characterized by the... It is usually marked by withdrawal symptoms and by increasing tolerance for alcohol. It is a chronic, progressive, relapsing brain disease. Five percent of Americans die of alcoholism and ninety five percent of alcoholics die of alcoholism. Its physical, social, and psychological effects tend to get progressively worse (High Cost, 2015). Is alcoholism genetic or is it due to lack of self control? Through research, Dr. Robert R. Perkinson attests that alcoholism is nothing to be ashamed of because it is genetic. There are different genetic types of alcoholism. Perkinson distinguished two forms of alcoholism. One type is an environmental related type of alcoholism, associated with recurrent alcohol abuse, but without criminality in the biological parents. The other type was found to be highly

The first stage that should be taking is to collect and analyze relative information from the crime scene thing that offers insight to the possible suspect and determine the direction an investigation should take. • 12. Pius XII Rationale What was Pope Pius XII s rationale for not explicitly condemning the Nazi persecution of the Jews? (How can we explain his diplomatic or strategic approach to this issue?) World War II was a contentious period in the long blighted history of Europe. By 1942 most of Europe was under a totalitarian regime, experiencing the most conscientious effort to eradicate a race of people in history, the Holocaust. A spectator of this carnage was the Catholic Church, whose leadership remained silent towards the Holocaust. Pope Pius XII chose to combat the Nazis through quiet diplomacy, never explicitly condemning the Nazi s treatment and massacre of the Jews. Pius XII s silence was prompted by a number of factors, which he believed were necessary to protecting the European Jews. At the beginning of the war, Pius XII chose to leave any condemnation of the Nazis to the local bishops because he believed that they were in a better position to assess the dangers posed by the oppressive regimes. Pius XII felt that if had condemned the Nazis, he would have endangered the Jews, citing that when a Catholic Bishop in Belgium spoke out against the Nazi s 20,000 Jews were killed, if he had condemned the Nazis a possible 400,000 Jews could have been killed in response. This rationalization comes from the idea that in order to avoid exacerbating the situation, Pius XII would have to remain silent against the Nazis. Pius XII s silence can be further explained by his willingness to negotiate with the

This is not something people were comfortable discussing. My school s motto is Excellence and Honor and many students are incredibly smart and high achieving. In concept this has many benefits not only for the students but it also saves time and money for the school, however in practice I do not think inclusion works the way it was hoped to. Inclusion in theory will put light strain on the classroom because of safe guards such as helper teachers are in place to help out. In my experience these teachers are in the way most of the time when students are trying to learn, and students feel cheated when the special needs students are handed a supplemented test making the students feel bad. Lastly that the pros of inclusion in the classroom are set in perfect conditions with good teachers on both sides special education and general education, however most of the time that is not the case. Cons of Inclusion There are obvious disadvantages such as the lack of training, general education teacher will have in dealing with disabled students. A teacher trained specifically in special education could and would provide a much better service to the students that need it. Another issue is depending on the nature of a child s disability, it can affect the way that a student behaves. According to the ERIC article, that pupil s misbehavior and disrespect can be so intense that it disrupts the learning environment (Koolbreeze, 2017). This type of misbehavior could also be expressed in students without disabilities,

One was a large Indian family seated at a long row of tables down the center of the restaurant and the other was a table of Caucasian women in the booth behind ours. Our server, the same man who seated us, brought us water and directed us toward the buffet. The first thing I noticed when approaching the buffet was the smell. There were so many different spices and food smells lingering in the air it was unbelievably appetizing. The buffet was rather extensive, with about 20 different dish options to choose from including naan and dessert. I did not hesitate. I took a little bit of everything until my plate was full. I then proceeded to cover the plate with several pieces of garlic naan. The food was simply delicious. It ranged from every level of spiciness without being so spicy that it killed the taste. My favorite dishes were a spiced zucchini dish and the Aloo Mater which is a potato and green pea dish with a perfect blend of Indian spices. Also, the naan was extraordinary; soft and crispy with slivered green onion and pureed garlic spread on top. We also ordered chai which was delicious and had the right amount of warmth and caffeine for the afternoon. It complimented the Kheer (an Indian style rice pudding) perfectly. The food was an overall amazing experience. Some of the best food I have ever
  • 24. Factors Affecting Human Population Growth Stunting Human Population Growth No Population can have an ongoing exponential growth without having a limit that rules over the population s size. This limit is called the carrying capacity. Carrying capacity is the number of people, animals and crops that a region can support without environmental degradation. The way things are now, the human population is going to break through its carrying capacity very soon. Exceeding the carrying capacity means that the number of humans roaming the earth is greater than the number of humans the food supply can hold. Therefore, the only way to avoid a future battle for food is by reducing the birth rate of newborns in families across the globe. There is three ways that can prove effective against our growing population. 1.Laws: One way for a country or other ruling authoritative body to control population growth is to institute laws that prohibit high fertility. 2.Contraception: Another important way to limit population growth is to increase the rate of contraception among the population. 3.Economics: When the cost of having a child is extremely high, it deters parents from having more than a couple of kids. Everyone have their own opinion on which of these methods would work best in keeping our population under check. However, I believe that even though that all of these methods can prohibit high fertility, only through contraception and education the population will stay under control for the longest time. According to the
  • 25. Adverse Development for Children in Pageants I remember being home one day, surfing through the television channels. I stumbled on TLC, and saw a show named Toddlers in Tiaras. The show is about child beauty pageants and all the work children have to do, and also all the money parents put into it. It portrays how crazy some moms could be, and how spoiled some children are. Beauty pageants can boost confidence and self esteem, but it is degrading to women all over the world. Only one part deals with intelligence, but that doesn t prove anything. Someone could easily come up with an answer out of thin air, say it out loud and everyone would think she is brilliant because of how much words they say. Child beauty pageants deprive children of their childhood. Parents become obsessed with winning and they take away the joy that their children could possibly have while in or preparing for a pageant. The controversial question on beauty pageants is: Does competing in beauty pageants adversely affect child development? My answer is yes it does, and in the following I will explain why. Some pageant parents don t adequately prepare their kids for pageants, so the girls don t really know what to expect. If they don t win, they might take it personally and get hurt feelings. Children might end up feeling unattractive or inadequate in some other way. Child pageants are also time consuming. To be competitive in the larger pageants, contestants have to spend hours practicing their smile, their walk, and their turns. The day of the

Name: Course: Institution: Date: Jefferson`s Pillow by Roger Wilkins Introduction This book is titled as such because the first memory Jefferson had was being carried on a pillow by a slave riding a horseback. Some of these magicians include David Copperfield, who made the Statue of Liberty disappear, Harry Houdini, who was most famous for his escape tricks, and Robert Houdin, who would read the audience s mind. In spite of the fact that many of these magicians appear to have done their magic through some supernatural force, in reality, the magicians use their sleight of hand in order to change the perspective of the audience. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The psychology of magic tricks is also affected from person to person. The experience of an individual may be different among other individuals based on past experience and expectations. For example, this article, There s more to magic than meets the eye includes the illusion of a ball being thrown up; however, the ball stays in the illusionist s hand. About 68% of people fall for the trick because of the fact that their expectation is that the ball will go up and their past experience is the fact that they have seen a ball thrown up numerous times. Furthermore, the social cuing of the illusionist inspired the social cuing of the audience into believing the direction of the ball to go up. Consequently, this shows that the audience of a magician may not all be affected and some may experience no illusion. In addition, Illusions are based on many things. A good magician uses The Cooperative Principle . This law basically states that the cause precedes the effect in time, cause and effect are contiguous in time and place, and there is a history of regularity in the precedence and contiguity of cause and effect. These rules may be applied to illusions due to the fact that the magician uses the cooperation of the audience and their sleight of hand. The cause in a simple trick along the lines of pulling a rabbit is the magician s sleight of hand and the effect

Mrs. Iselin s admiration for Abraham Lincoln in my own opinion is due to the fact that he was a Loyalist and not a Communist, and she hates Communists, and he was also a great and powerful leader of our nation. These were her goals not only for herself but also for her son and her husband. She even made her husband dress up as Abraham Lincoln for the costume party she hosted and she had a huge picture of Abraham Lincoln hanging over her fireplace in her home, as well as in her dining room. The message the audience gets about politicians and politics of that time period are that they may have been a bit corrupt.
