World Malaria Day is observed annually on April 25th to raise awareness of efforts to control and eliminate malaria. The theme for 2019 is "Zero malaria starts with me" which aims to keep malaria high on the political agenda and empower communities to take ownership of prevention and care. While progress has been made in reducing malaria cases and deaths globally, sustained efforts are still needed to achieve zero malaria. India has seen significant declines in malaria cases and deaths in recent years but it remains one of the highest burden countries.
