Student Instructions
This assessment needs to be undertaken alongside a practical task which depending on the semester you
are currently undertaking as to what task you will be completing it with. Some options are but it is not
limited to:
 Carry out Hand Excavation
 Install Floor systems
 Carry out General demolition of minor building Structures
During the task you will be put in a team (3), you will collaborate with other members to plan and perform
a construction task. With your team members you will discuss and document the team’s purpose,
designate roles and responsibilities, and plan your objectives. You will document the steps that your team
will undertake to complete the task including all the tools, equipment, resources, your team will require to
have a successful outcome. You will undertake a Toolbox talk where you will be given task instructions
then a SWMS where you will do a site inspection and document and report on any environmental hazards
and how to reduce the risks
Individually you are required to complete the table, you will write a basic report on the teams existing
skills and the required skills that need to be developed further to become a tradesman.
This report, Toolbox talk, and SWMS must be uploaded into Ready Skills on completion of the task.
Time Allowed
Please see the task you are undertaking for the practical task time however 2 hour is allowed to complete
the report
Guidelines for Reasonable Adjustment
This assessment is to be completed by the individual student in Ready Skills but is to be done with the
collaboration with a small team. Documentation can be in larger font or on coloured paper.
Assessor’s Instructions
Ensure the student understands the assessment tasks, the instructions for this competency are to be run
in conjunction with another competency with a practical.
Material lists are to be completed in Ready Skills and the report is to be completed in Ready Skills.
