Work measurement is a technique used to establish the time required for a worker to complete a specified job at a defined performance level. There are four basic work measurement techniques: time study, work sampling, predetermined motion time data systems, and synthesis of standard data. A manufacturing plant implemented work measurement using UMT PLUS software to identify non-value added activities and improve productivity by doubling production while optimizing resource utilization.
