Rescue The Perishing
And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great
tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds
and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying,
What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!. Matthew 8:23-27

3. “And the two disciples heard him speak and they followed
Jesus” (John 1:37)
The most important work in the world is to seek the lost. The
reason for soul winning to Jesus is to inherit the world. There is a
very important sequence in John 1:35 to 45: Andrew found Peter,
Jesus found Philip, and Philip found Nathaniel, each one of these
individuals was found by someone. This meant they were saved,
brought into fellowship with the Lord, transformed and thrust out
into His service.
Spurgeon once said, “Even if I were utterly selfish and had
no care for anything but my own happiness, I would choose, if I
might, to be a soul-winner.” An evangelist once asked himself,
what shall I thousands of years hence, wish I had done? Brainerd
said, “I cared not where or how I lived, or what hardships I went
through, so long as I could win souls for Christ.” We may Judge
the importance and greatness of this work when we remember
that Jesus Christ left heaven and went to Calvary to win souls.
When we know the Lord personally we are at once qualified
to begin this work of soul winning. The best preparation for this
is a heart full of love and commitment to the Lord himself. Do
not imagine that you are too young a Christian or do not have
the necessary gifts to tell someone about the gift of salvation.
The best time to start is now. The Lord always uses His word to
produce the miracle of conversion: “For after that in the wisdom
of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the
foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1Cor 1:21)
The first contact or impression is made upon a soul by the
personal testimony of a Christian (John 1:45). Philip’s testimony
was nothing sophisticated, neither was there anything clever about
it. It was given in simple words that were warm and moving in
heart to heart language. If all God’s people had a testimony like
this and gave it like this, there would soon be a very wonderful
movement of the spirit of God upon the hearts and lives of many
who are now dead in trespasses and sins. “And they went forth
and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and
confirming the word with signs following”: (Mark 16:20). We
must see carefully loving soul-winning work as God’s work that
He is performing through us, His servants. It is very important
to remember, however, that even if we have been faithful in our
witness for the Lord it may not be our privilege to lead that one
to Christ. Sometimes the Lord just uses us as a link in the chain
before he finally brings that soul to himself.
May the Lord’s richest blessings be upon you and your dear
family as you witness to someone.

God is giving us another brand-new opportunity as we enter this
third month of March, 2017. As we begin this new month my prayer
for you is that the precious Lord may break your heart for the souls of
men and women.
Five years ago I picked up this statement somewhere: “Lord, let
my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God.” I wrote
it down on the book mark which is in the Bible that I study from every
day. The bookmark is quite tattered now.
What are some of the things that break the heart of God?Alimited
space like this can list only a few of them, of course. In the world,
rejection of the Incarnate Word continues to break the heart of God.
Never before in history have people had more opportunity to read and/
or hear the Word, which is Jesus Christ. At the same time more people
reject the Word than in any other single period since the Apostle Paul
walked into Rome through the old Appian Way. “And when we heard
these things, both we and those at that place besought him not to go up
to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, what mean ye to weep and to break
mine heart? For I am not only ready to be bound, but also to die at
Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 21:12 - 14) Christian,
what would you be willing to take in order to see others come to know
of salvation in Jesus?
In the church, the sheer laziness of God’s people breaks the heart
of God. God’s people work hard, yes; but they work hard with their
priorities determined by the outside tenets of the Word. What people
need and feel is often considered more important than what the Word
says. Is it not true that God’s people spend more time reading newspapers
and/or being entertained by TV than seriously scrutinizing their lives
daily in the light of the Truth? Is it any wonder that we meet so many
spiritual pygmies?
My burden is that God will raise up a group of intellectuals in India
who would honor and obey the command to fulfill the great commission.
I have longed and prayed many times for opportunities to reach the lost.
I feel if we come together and work together to fulfill the task the Lord
has entrusted to each one of us to do there is no limit to what can be
done in the development of the ministry here in India.
In the Great Commission field, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8, Matthew
28:20 simply do not count when it comes to making decisions that affect
our daily living. Lip service, yes; intellectual assent, yes; slogans and
banners, yes. When it comes to financial commitment, no; determined
dedication, maybe; emotional devotion, on and off. This breaks the
heart of God.
“Dear Lord,” I pray again, “let my heart be broken by the things
that break the heart of God.”
