2. “If we become to busy to
pray all our busyness will
amount to nothing and our
work blown away with the
winds of time”
3. We often make the mistake of thinking our
accomplishments are the measurements of our
success. However, the reality is that who we
are is the real measure of our
accomplishments. And nothing shapes who
we are more than a life of intimacy with God
through prayer. Then our accomplishments are
the fruit of who we are in Christ and they bring
God glory and He fulfills His divine purpose.
5. Confession and repentance are two
difficult things to practice if we are
always measuring our self by others.
However, when we begin to judge our
self by God’s truth and righteousness
we not only understand the need for
daily confession and repentance but
they both become expression of God’s
sustaining, enabling grace.
6. Psalm 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a
broken spirit, A broken and a
contrite heart— These, O God,
You will not despise.
7. Insight: Is there anything that should break our
heart more than our sin? The word, “contrite”,
means to be crushed. How often are we truly
crushed because of our careless actions and
reckless thoughts? How easy it is for us to harden
our heart against the Holy Spirit as He convicts us
of our sin. Our lack of sincere confession and our
practice of excusing and rationalizing our sin
explains our spiritual impotence and lack of zeal to
pursue intimacy with God.
8. Prayer:
Father help us to be honest with
ourselves and focused upon You.
Give us hearts that freely confess
our sin as those who are redeemed
by Your blood. Make our heart
fragile when it comes to our sin and
the offence it is to You so our heart
will quickly break in sorrow and
bring us to the altar of repentance
with swiftness, resting all our hopes
in Your righteousness and grace.
10. If we see the events of life as mere chance
and believe that we are victims there will be
few songs of praise from our lips. However if
we see the events of life as being
orchestrated by the wisdom and will of God
who is sovereign over all things then we can
no longer live as victims of chance, but victors
of grace and divine purpose.
11. Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I
think toward you, says the Lord,
thoughts of peace and not of evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
12. God’s people where in His thoughts and He
had a plan for them. As the redeemed people
of God, through Christ, we too are in His
thoughts and His plan is to give us a future
and a hope. For us who are Christ followers
our future and our hope rest upon the Lord
Jesus Christ. Whatever may happen in life we
have the assurance that God has carefully
and with sovereign purpose designed the
events for our ultimate good and His glory.
So give Him praise!
13. Lord, You are good and Your
goodness has been extended to me
through Jesus Your Son. Help me to
see your kind, compassionate hand
in all the events of my life. I thank
you for Your awesome goodness in
assuring me through Your word, that
all thing are under Your control.
16. Without the help and blessing of God our
entire ministry is in vain and will be
unfruitful. We must never fail to ensure
that God is “building the house” and we
are His servants. It is through thoughtful,
hungry prayer that we can stay on God’s
course and allow Him to work through us
to accomplish His purpose.
17. Ask the Lord to give us all a mind to work
and hearts that discern His will and a
willingness to be obedient to His
direction. Pray that the Lord will give us
a spirit of diligence as we plan and as we
work so that everything we do will be
characterized by excellence for His glory.
19. The closer we come to God’s heart the
greater our passion will be to pray for lost
people. God demonstrated His love for
those who are in the clutches of sin by
giving His only Son on the cross to die for
atonement for sin. It is impossible to grow
in intimacy with God without being burdened
for those who do not know Jesus.
20. Romans 6:23 “For the wages
of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.”
22. Pray that each person who does not know
Jesus as their Savior will begin to consider
their eternal destiny. Ask the Lord to be
merciful to them by opening their eyes to
the wages of sin and to give them a desire
to learn about Jesus who gives the gift of
eternal life. Pray that God will make divine
appointments for us to share the message
of the gospel with them.
23. Pray that we will be prepared to disciples
those whom the Lord brings to us. Ask
the Lord to instill within each of us the
awesome task of being a disciple making
church. Pray that we will be willing to
make any investment of our time, energy,
as well as financial resources to fulfill our
Lord’s command to “make disciples”.
25. We should never become so selfish so as to use
something as powerful as prayer only for
ourselves or even for our immediate area. Nor
should we think that God is in any measure
overwhelmed by petitions that span many
geographical areas of the world. We should be
amazed and encouraged that as we pray for folks
down the street and God hears and works, so at
the same time we can pray for folks across the
seas, in the most remote areas of the world, and
God hears and answers our prayer.
33. The Bondili of India
have a population of
45,000. They are part
of the Oriya people
cluster. This people
group is found only
in India. Their
primary language is
Tamil. The primary
religion of the
Bondili is Hinduism.
34. Psalm 2:8
“Ask of Me and I will give You the
Nations for Your inheritance and
the ends of the earth for Your
possession”
35. Ask the Lord to raise up laborers
for His harvest among the Bondili
people. Pray that God will open the
heart of these people to the gospel.
