CHAPTER 1
CHAPTER 1 – “God of All Comfort” 4
“God of All Comfort”
1:3-4
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of
all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we
may be able to comfort them which are in any
trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are
comforted of God.
5. “At times, you may long for peace as you face uncertainty and what
seem to you to be looming challenges. The sons of Mosiah learned
the lesson that the Lord taught to Moroni. It is a guide for us all: “If
men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto
men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for
all [who] humble themselves before me; for if they humble
themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak
things become strong unto them” (Ether 12:27).
Moroni said that when he “heard these words,” he “was
comforted” (Ether 12:29). They can be a comfort to all of us.
The Spirit not only comforts you, but He is also the agent by which
the Atonement works a change in your very nature. Then weak
things become strong.

CHAPTER 7 – “Godly Sorrow” 9
“Godly Sorrow”
7:9-10
9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to
repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might
receive damage by us in nothing.
10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:
but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
11. “Godly sorrow inspires change and hope through the Atonement of
Jesus Christ. Worldly sorrow pulls us down, extinguishes hope, and
persuades us to give in to further temptation.
Godly sorrow leads to conversion and a change of heart. It causes
us to hate sin and love goodness. It encourages us to stand up and
walk in the light of Christ’s love.
True repentance is about transformation, not torture or torment.
Yes, heartfelt regret and true remorse for disobedience are often
painful and very important steps in the sacred process of
repentance. But when guilt leads to self-loathing or prevents us
from rising up again, it is impeding rather than promoting our
repentance.”

“Forgive Offenses”
2:8-10
8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you,
whether ye be obedient in all things.
10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to
whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his
devices.

“Reconciled of God”
5:17-18
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things
are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus
Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation

“Reconciled of God”
What does it mean to be reconciled of God?
QUESTION:
17. “Reconciliation is the process of ransoming (saving) man
from his state of sin and spiritual darkness and restoring
him to a state of harmony and unity with Deity.
Through it, God and man are no longer enemies. Man,
who was once carnal and evil, who lived after the manner
of the flesh, becomes a new creature of the Holy Ghost;
he is born again; even as a little child, he is alive in Christ.”
