Microsoft Windows (or simply Windows) is a metafamily of graphical
operating systems developed, marketed, and sold by Microsoft. It
consists of several families of operating systems, each of which cater to
a certain sector of the computing industry with the OS typically
associated with IB.M PC compatible architecture.
Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Windows on
November 20, 1985, as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS in
response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
As of September 2016, the most recent version of Windows for PCs,
tablets, smartphones and embedded devices is Windows 10. The most
recent versions for server computers is Windows Server 2016. A
specialized version of Windows runs on the Xbox One game console

As we all have heard the announcement made by the Microsoft officials
regarding the end of windows after Windows 10. It is officially said that
Windows 10 will be the last Windows from Microsoft, but they will keep
on updating the Windows 10 by providing more features to their users.
With this new approach in mind, Microsoft has decided to launch its
updation (Codename: Threshold) in this summer. Besides this, they have
also some big special plan to launch another update ‘codename:
Redstone’ in 2016.
As the Microsoft is launching update this year in summer, it is expected
they will launch next year’s updations too during summer time.
Microsoft will adopt the updation time frame of June to October, and
they will maintain this schedule for further new updations for Windows
10.
