Jan 08 –Present Facilities Manager

2. I manage a team of 10 tradesmen, attending to day to day maintenance of the
college buildings, properties, and grounds. I have responsibility for energy
management successfully and continually reducing consumption and costs by
maximising new techniques and products. I am the Health and Safety advisor to 105
members of staff and qualified to NEBOSH and tech member of IOSH. As well as
day to day maintenance I manage all planned capital projects, most recently the
successful completion of 2 x 24 room student accommodation blocks.
Currently I am working as Clerk of works/ College Liaison on a £5.4 million new
seminar building which will provide the college with additional teaching space as well
as conference facilities. The building is now successfully completed and in full use.
In my role as FM I have restructured the department from a team of 13 to the present
10 by utilising strengths and efficiencies though identifying weaknesses, providing
relevant targeted training to improve the overall service.
Nov 2006-Dec 2007 Estates Manager,

I had full management responsibility for all Estates and Facilities related issues
including all cleaning, security, maintenance and new build projects, also managing a
small team of maintenance personnel and contract management of external supplier
of the cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts.

The largest of these projects was the successful delivery of an office refurbishment
and asbestos removals project based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. The project
required a significant amount of pre-planning and logistical challenges; the project
was delivered on time and within budget. I also returned to part time education at this
time gaining levels 3-7 in Chartered Management (Masters Equivalent)

Managing maintenance/improvement work as appointed from Schools, social
services buildings and county buildings. I also had to manage time and budgets
delivering successful projects to a high standard within those limitations.
Implementing Health and Safety / CDM regulations acting as the CDM coordinator on

3. Employing and managing maintenance staff, Facilities and property management
and technical support to swimming pool team. As part of my duties I managed all
college lettings. In 1993 I developed an in-house cleaning team successfully
delivering a high quality not for Profit Company employing 24 part time staff and 3 full
time staff. I also managed all new builds which included a new leisure/swimming
pool, sports centre and classroom blocks.
