August Osage County Movie Analysis
Wow, was the first thought that came to mind when watching the film August Osage County, which
depicts a chaotically enmeshed family. Erratic discipline and dramatic role shifts were visible
within this families. Drugs and alcohol kept this family in a constant state of chaos where
individual s reactions are unpredictable. The familyrule seems to be that the females are mean.
Speak your mind, don t hold your tongue and never think of how what you say will affect others.
The film talked about Violet s upbringing, allowing the viewer to comprehend that she came from a
house of abuse where the mother was mean and seemed to get joy in inflicting pain on her children.
The story of the Christmas boots was a dramatic example of Violet s upbringing. Barbra (Violet s
daughter) also has a sharp tongue because she was raised by her mean spirited mother. The family
of origin is having a strong effect. Left unchallenged a multigenerational dysfunction continues.

Junon and Abel had four children and then added to their family by raising their Nephew. SFT
would help this family because communication was a weakness. Elizabeth never discloses why
she banned her brother from the family. Fear of their son going to jail allowed the rule to be put in
place, but I am still left perplexed as to why Junon did not call a meeting to resolve the situation.
Although there was a hint at the rule our children s business is their own when the parents do not
interfere in the affair that was instigated under their roof. Furthermore, building self esteem would
help the family since all the members lacked confidence in themselves. Healing occurred when
Henri and Paul were open and honest with each other demonstrating that the problem is not the

Analysis Of An Imploding Country
An Imploding Country: A.K.A America
America: a melting pot of diverse cultures and people, a place full of opportunity, and a country
bleeding with patriotism. With these ideas in mind, America is the perfect place to be.
Immigrants who came to America as early as the 19th century believed that they would have
better lives in this new country and could start fresh. This utopian ideal of America, however, has
not lasted. In fact, America has gone away from these ideals set upon it years ago. Instead, because
of poverty, America is an implosion of racewars, political division, and drug epidemics.
In America, there are constantly signs and tones of a race war taking place. African Americans
believe that they are targeted by whites. Raja explains that [g]roups that are discriminated against,
such as Afro descendants, minorities, indigenous peoples, migrants, and refugees, are
disproportionately affected by poverty in all regions of the world. Many African Americans live in
poverty, contributing to the idea that poverty causes race wars. Since these particular groups feel
discriminated against because of their social status AND skin color, they connect any sort of police
mistreatment to it being because of their status, and they are more likely to act out against
arrests and police enforcement. In the past 20 years, the opinion of the police has, shift[ed] from
one of trust and respect to one of distrust and fear of abuse of power (Polidoro). In 2016, five
Dallas police officers were shot and killed as a way of payback for the racial issues in America.
According to Fernandez, The shooting was the kind of retaliatory violence that people have
feared through two years of protests around the country against deaths in police custody, forcing
yet another wrenching shift in debates over race and criminal justice that had already deeply
divided the nation. Also, Lenz explains, The suspect said he was upset at white people...[and]
wanted to kill white people, especially white officers. This violent shooting as well as others, has
caused the division of race in America to increase dramatically because African Americans in
poverty feel threatened by white police officers. There has always been a race war in

An Essay About Swag
For the past years, there are a lot of words that are made by the youth. They generate new terms
that they can make use of when they interact with other people. There are also lists of new terms
which they use in a negative definition; however, the real meaning is in a positive manner. One of
the popular words that are being used incorrectly is swag. The usage of swag was brought back
and was popularized by different famous artists by the help of the music industry. The wordwas used
in various hip hop songs by Jay Z, Pharell Williams, Soulja Boy, and Lil B. Originally, Merriam
Webster (n.d.) defined swag as a transitive verbwhich is sway or lurch and it can be also a noun
which means a stolen property. Though in this generation, swag is habitually used in a negative
meaning. For some, it is attributed in being cool in a manner of bullyingor making fun of other
people. Although swag is negative, it actually boost self confidence, knows right from wrong, and
receives respect from people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Counselling Department of The University Queensland Australia (n.d.), self
confidence is the belief in oneself and abilities, it describes an internal state made up of what
people think and feel about themselves. When a person acknowledges another that he or she has
swag, it uplifts the person s morale because he or she is being praised by other people in a
positive point of view. Though it does not only focus directly on oneself confidence but it also
boosts the ego of another person since they do their best to convince others to feel good or
contended about themselves as well. A person who has self confidence is a person who also takes
situations lightly. It also characterizes a person who does not think negatively in any situations that
a person may experience whether it is about their family, friends, or love

Optimism Bias Analysis
The optimism bias pushes people towards positive change because most people want positive
change and according to Tali Sharot to make changes in our life we must believe that the
changes are possible. Even rather pessimistic people want to change there for they believe it is
possible. When a person believes in change and anticipates the change it releases serotonin in the
brain and brings about a happy feeling, there for improving their overall wellbeing. When I
enrolled in college I remember the good feeling it brought and still brings. The optimistic bias is
hard at work in my mind when it comes to my success in school. I believe I will be a great
counselor, even though my criminal history shuts door after door in my face I keep believing

The Significance Of The Four Noble Practices In Western...
1. Various things echo practices in Western religion. The Noble Eightfold Path for instance, echoes
the Ten Commandments of the Christianity. They both instruct people on what and whatnot to do,
and give them a guideline for everyday life. For example, the Noble Eightfold path instructs
people to have Right Conduct, which is similar to the Ten Commandments saying not to kill or
steal. The Four Noble Truths tell about the evils of the World and how to avoid them, just like the
Bible. Also, the Bible tells Christians how to please God and eventually reach Heaven, just as the
Four Noble Truths leads Buddhists to Nirvana. Buddha tells the Bhikkhus, Since I possessed, O
Bhikkhus, with perfect purity this true knowledge and insight into theses four Noble Truths . . . I

I think Buddha rejected their ascetic practices because they were too extreme. He knows that
humans can t be healthy and alert if they are deprived of food or sleep. Buddha realizes someone
won t become a better person or reach enlightenment by restricting their body from the basic
necessities of life. Buddha tells the Bhikkhus Neither abstinence from fish or flesh, nor going
naked . . . will cleanse a man who is not free from delusions . Most ascetics would deprive their
bodies of food and sleep, and some of them would even practice self mortification. The Middle
Way is a balance between asceticism and over indulgence in the pleasures of the World. It allows a
person to eat, drink, and sleep according to their needs. Buddha states that the Middle Path Keeps

Decision Making That Permits Influence An Investment Abroad
INTRODUCTION:
The world is changing more rapidly; consequently organizations are promptly the way they operate
as well to ensure survival and growth in high velocity turbulent markets. To succeed an
organization has to anticipate, react and even lead in terms of strategic decisions to enhance
profits. It is pertinent to understand that a series of systematic decisions is undertaken before an
investment abroad is carried on with. According to Sundaram Stewart 1992 there is a system of
decision making that permits influence which refers to the firm s ability to coordinate and control
endogenous organizational variables and quasi endogenous market variables (coupled with
exogenous factors (e.g exchange rates, regulations, tariffs and political set up). Investment
decisions are critical for the performance of an organization. From a micro perspective, they are
fundamental for the growth of individual companies, increasing their efficiency by reducing per
unit costs, enhancing profits by tapping new market segments and exploiting more resources. At a
company s level, an investment decision abroad is much more complicated and requires more
research; it is more of a multi criteria process taking into account numerous factors. These are
primarily economic and risk factors, political and social environment and government regulations.
Naturally, the effects of these factors on decisions of individual companies may vary significantly.
Each of the risk has been separately defined

Joan Of Arc Analysis
Joan of Arc is portrayed as a woman who came out of nowhere to help the French win the
Hundred Years War with the words of God powering her. Joan was even considered a gift from God
although there were priestly men that thought Joan was a fake which later contributed to her
devastating death at the hands of the English. Joan became a powerful womanwhen the visions led
her to the holy mission of saving Francewhile using her intellect and sharp tongue when the time
called for it. The eccentric tendencies of Joan is what led to her ultimate downfall. Joan
accepted the role of saving France that was believed to be from god that was sent for her to
fulfill. The visions had a plan that was something only Joan could do and that would help the
France. Joan had a light bulb moment at the siege of OrlГ©ans that triggered knowledge of her
mission... From that moment Jeanne s spiritual way was closely related to the politics of her
land and time [1] Joan decided that God spoke to her through the angels and that if God
proclaimed it then it would be done. The trip to the Dauphin of France, and having to prove to
the Dauphin that Joan was not a silly peasant girl by having successes in battle. The tactical mind
of Joan brought many victories that were allowed. The contribution of the visions that showed
Joan the role that would be played is that the tide of the 100 year war was changing in favor of the
French and the changing of gender roles started by Joan. The role of God is

Resume Reflective Analysis
Reflective Analysis for resume Initially starting off, I had a resume previously used for my
current position. I originally wanted just to have that resume included, and work off of that.
Through careful evaluation, I realized I needed some changes. Originally, my resume had basic
skills, a vague summary, and bullet point highlights of what each career entailed. From reviewing
examples of resumes for the position I am applying to, I found differences in which I believe
would be necessary to add, and realization that I needed to apply an overall change for the better.
For the structure of the resume, I kept it simple with a summary, skills, and work history section,
then broke the skills and work history sections into 2 smaller sections. In... Show more content on

I ended up applying examples of this into one area of the resume, and break out by category.
Resumes I had come across had technical skills closer to the bottom, and general skills closer to
the top. From my perspective, it would be helpful to have these in one section of the resume, so
that the hiring manager can review first, which programming languages the applicant has
knowledge in, then what competencies are held outside of programming. In return, this helps the
hiring manager to gain an understanding of how the applicant can apply their overall
knowledge to the position. Specific skills in my resume included T SQL, C#, JavaScript, user
acceptance testing, technical analysis, and material gathering, and each of these in fact applied
to the job description in one area. Additional skills were added that could be useful to the
position as well. Prior to this assignment, for work history, I had just used bullet points for
specific tasks done on a daily basis. From looking at other resumes for this field, key achievement
fields stood out to me. I carefully selected my key achievements to be geared towards using
knowledge to help other teams, and utilizing applications that are used in the position each day. In
my opinion, this will give the hiring manager the impression that I am knowledgeable in the
applications

Building a movement always challenges the status quo. Leaders must act, they must willingly risk
the things they love and unfortunately, many leaders are frozen by the lethargy of indecision i.
Union General George B. McClellan, who was meticulous in his planning and preparations, was
also known for not aggressively challenging his opponents on a fast moving battlefield environment.

Confederate politicians, including President Jefferson Davis, believed the prospect of foreign
recognition would increase if they won a victory on Northern soil; such a victory might gain
recognition and financial support from Britain and France, something that was vastly needed xiii.
While in pursuit, two soldiers in General McClellan s 75,500 man Army of the Potomac, stumbled
upon an amazing find. On the morning of September 13, in a clover field on the outskirts of
Frederick, MD, CPT Barton Mitchell and 1SG John Bloss found a bulky envelope by the road
xiv. In it was a sheet of paper wrapped around three cigars and marked Confidential . It was
headed Special Orders No 191 and signed by Command of GEN. R.E. Lee xv. Before noon, it
was in the hands of General McClellan xvi. From Special Order 191, McClellan learned the
objectives, the timetables, and the makeup of the four columns of Lee s Army xvii. The order
indicated that Lee had divided his Army and dispersed portions geographically to Harpers Ferry,
WV and Hagerstown, MD, thus making each subject to isolation and defeat if McClellan could
move quickly enough xviii. Rather than using the advantage to reposition his forces in
overwhelming numbers, he waited 18 hours before taking advantage of his intelligence. As it
happened, it was just enough time for General Lee to evade outright disaster xix.
While Lee had only 15,000 men at Sharpsburg and the first troops of

The Function Of Prayer And The Islamic Faith
The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.

Prayer is very important to the Islamic faith. To Muslims, prayer acts as a reminder of Allah s
reign over their lives. Muslims pray five times a day. They pray at daybreak, noon, mid afternoon,
sunset, and evening. In predominantly Muslim countries, the adhan, or the call to prayer, is
sounded at each specific time. There are slight changes to the adhan according to which prayer is
being made. The adhan for the predawn prayer is as follows:
God is Great (said four times)
I bear witness that there is no god except the One God. (said two times)
I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God. (said two times)
Hurry to the prayer (Rise up for prayer). (said two times)
Hurry to success (Rise up for Salvation). (said two times)
God is Great (said two times)
There is no god except the One God.
Prayer is better than sleep. (said two times) (Huda).
For predawn prayer, the verse prayer is better than sleep is added to the end. This verse symbolizes
Muslims devotion to Allah in that they care more about worshipping him than they care about their
own wellbeing. Each time a Muslim prays, there is a specific sequence of physical motion that they

Quantico Summary
For this response paper I watched the second episode of the first season of Quantico. This
episode provided me with many examples of the construction of gender. These include when
Alex Parish is said to have had sex with her superior and then when she broke it off hey offer the
idea that he is trying to track her in as a way of revenge, how on top of being involved with her

A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace
1.What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before
delving into its dangers. Layman s terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits
the visibility at ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may
prevent you from locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms
when the difference between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 В°F. Fog
begins to form when water vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air,
usually also clinging to pollutants or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water
vapor is added to the air by: wind convergence into areas of upward direction, precipitation,
daytime heating which evaporates water from the surface of large bodies of water, oceans or
wetlands; transpiration from plants, cool or dry air moving over warmer water, and lifting air
over mountains. Think of fog as a lower rendition of the cloud form stratus; meaning it is a
lower deck that occurs when a cool air mass is confined under a warm air mass. 2.Different types
of fogs? Foggiest place in the United States? Fog can form in many ways dependent on what
caused the cooling and how the condensation occurred. The most common form of fog, Radiation
fog, is fashioned by the cooling of terrain after sun down by thermal radiation when wind
conditions are relatively calm and cloud cover is at a minimum. The cooling ground produces

Full Range Leadership Development Paper
Full Range Leadership Development (FRLD) and effective communication plays an essential
role in employee satisfaction and is linked to productivity and the financial success of an
organization. Dissatisfaction can result in people providing less attention to care in their job
performance and eventually quitting. According to (Daft, 2012) One secret for the success in
organization is motivated and engaged employees (p.451). Motivated employees are very
important for the success of the project, unmotivated employees are unlikely to work hard or to
be productive when compared to motivated employees. According to (DeRosa, 2010) Treat
people as you expect to be treated (p.73). Example; we should provide monetary rewards, like gift
cards or praising them for their efforts in front of their peers like in a huddle or in meetings.
Successful leaders use a variety of methods to motivate and lead the individuals they are

Health Science Librarians Essay
Librarians have always worked with information, but the question of whether or not librarians
should get involved with big data has not always been an easy one to answer. On the other hand,
since most health care researchers are subject specialists and have limited data science skills, most
librarians in the healthsciences realize they do need to become involved in it. That they have to
provide health care researchers with as much help and information as they can. Consequently, the
real question for them should be exactly how they need to be involved. Health sciences librarians
realize they can fill many roles in health care s use of big data, but since some roles librarians

Therefore, librarians need to provide information on how to write such a plan, information about
where researchers can deposit data affordably that works well with new data and old data, and
what are the best practices for sharing their data, including how to get the data ready for ingest

metadata standards to their data sets. For health sciences libraries with limited resources, much of
this information could be provided online using libguides or even web links.
When working with big data researchers are also finding themselves needing information how
to work with visualization tools. Many have never used these tools before and if health sciences
libraries can offer space and training on equipment and software to their researchers then they
will have both access to them and a chance to learn to use them. However, not every health
sciences library will be able to provide equipment and software for them, but most could provide
information on where to find training and possibly a list of local locations with access. In
addition, health sciences libraries could also provide training courses on R and Python directly to
their researchers or information on local or web based courses.
Finally, one of the other major ways that health sciences

Rna Interference ( Rnai ) Drugs
RNA interference (RNAi) drugs are drugs that alter the protein production of the desired cells
/tissues by altering their RNA. The field of RNA interference is fairly recent with study of the
mechanisms that enable it starting in the 1990s and continuing today. Through the years, it has
been known as co suppression, post transcriptional gene silencing, quelling, and others due to the
ability to deactivate or suppress certain genes, mostly in Eukaryotes. RNAi has proved to be a very
powerful instrument in medicine, biotechnology, genomics and others. The medicines currently
produced can actually stop the production of certain proteins to treat specific illnesses, essentially
making a genetic off switch for certain genes. A common focus of RNAi is targeting cancers, liver
disease, and Hepatitis C., by utilizing small single and double sided RNAsegments that alter the
host RNA, allowing for little to no DNA change while stopping the function and reproduction of
the target. One of the only downsides to this kind of treatment is that it is nonreversible and must
be taken slowly to study its effects in total. This growing field is a perfect example of how simple
genetic concepts are able to help shape human health forever. In Elbashir, Lendeckel, and Tuschl s
article, they explore how 21 and 22 nucleotides RNAs mediate RNA interferenceby using an in
vitro Drosophila system; this article is still referenced today as an authoritative source for RNAi
research They show that the

Single Point Incremental Forming Of Conventional Holes...
Single Point Incremental Forming Conventional hole flanging is a forming procedure used to
make round or awry flanges. In this procedure, a holed sheet, inflexibly settle to a pass on with a
clear holder, is plastically distorted chiefly by bending and circumferential extending with a punch.
In hole flanging by single point incremental forming (SPIF), a level sheet with a pre cut hole is
shaped by a solitary point rotating instrument that continuously delivers a smooth, round flanged
lip. The forming device is driven by a CNC machine taking after continuously a pre built up
direction. The material is currently predominantly distorted by a mix of circumferential and
outspread extending and bending. There are numerous modern utilizations of this procedure, for
example, fortifying the edge of the holes, enhancing its appearance or giving extra backing to
joining sheet parts to tubes, among others.
Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is an as of late incredible sheet metal part creation
procedure that is step by step developing towards modern applicability. In this procedure a sheet
metal part is shaped in a stepwise manner by a CNC controlled spherical rotating tool without the
requirement for a supporting (fractional) die. This system permits a moderately quick and shabby
production of small series of sheet metal parts.
In the SPIF procedure generic, freestyle shapes can be created utilizing a standard, circular, CNC
controlled instrument. The procedure begins

Evaluation Of Hedonic Price Model
4. Methodology
4.1. Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS)
Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing
prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as
endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices.
First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on

However, this approach cannot deal with spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. Previous
studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing
prices or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the
estimated values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we
use generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity
and spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations;
P=О»WP+О±L М‚+ОІX+u (5) u=ПЃWu+Пµ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a
log form of housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the
following equations;
lnвЃЎ(P)=О»W[ln(P)]+О±L М‚+ОІX+u(6) u=ПЃWu+Пµ 4.2. Spatial Weight Matrix
A spatial weight matrix presents the pairwise spatial relationship between two any spatial units. It
has two different types such as contiguity based weight matrix and distance based weight matrix.
Although it can be chosen by researcher s judgement, distance based weight matrix is more
appropriate when the size of spatial units is irregular (e.g., in the case of census tracts). Hence, the
spatial weight matrix used in this analysis is expressed as the follows;
W_ij={■(1 if d_ij≤C @0 if d_ij C or i=j)┤(7)

Beatles Influences
When one thinks of The Beatles, some concepts that usually come to mind are the hippies,
psychedelic drugs such as marijuana, and their timeless classics such as Blackbird, Yesterday, and
Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. While these associations are founded in truth, the
Beatles are also closely connected with the politics of that time. Their song lyrics advocate for
peace and harmony in a world that was at war. The way they dressed, and the length of their hair
showed a disdain for the social norms of the time. Their greatest influences were famous for straying
away from the normal to find art in the unventured. The Beatleswere created in a time of
unpredictability, but their music will outlive them.
Prior to The Beatles, there were numerous precursors with different styles of music that existed that
came together to set the stage for the Beatles to become successful throughout the world and
throughout popular music. When the Beatles first became popular, rock and roll was only about
fifteen years old at that point, although they did have iconic musicians who they looked up to and
aspired to be like. John Lennon stated himself in an interview saying, If there hadn t been an
Elvis, there would not have been The Beatles. The band even did a cover of one of Elvis popular
songs All shook Up. The group also adopted other influences into their music such as using a sitar in
some of their songs. The sitar is not an instrument commonly

Reactive Attachment
Development is an essential and mandatory constituent of human life that operates on multiple
levels. It is a precise process, and there are a number of factors that affect its effectiveness. In
particular, the development of a child is determinant of the adolescent behaviors, uniqueness and
intelligence. Therefore, a considerable degree of weight is placed on the components that lead to
the maturity of the child. In the development of a child, one of the key principles is called
attachment. Just as safe attachment between the caregiver and the child can result in successful
physical, mental and social development, vulnerable attachment can yield damaging consequences
for the child in these areas (DeMulder, Denham, Schmidt, Mitchell, 2000). Reactive attachment
disorder is a likely outcome of unsafe attachment that eventually restricts the child s capacity to
emotionally and socially connect with other individuals, while destroying the cognitive ability as
well (Crosson Tower, 2013). This paper presents a detailed discussion on the attachment disorder in
children and its impact on child development. Reactive Attachment Disorder The term attachment

While improper attachment between the care provider and the child may put the latter at risk of
developing psychosocial problems, not every child with unsafe attachment develops reactive
attachment disorder (Kennedy Kennedy, 2004). A couple of variants of reactive attachment
disorder have been discovered. Restrained reactive attachment disorder develops in a child who is
aloof and socially and emotionally detached, shows resistance towards love and holds back the
emotions. Unrestrained reactive attachment disorder involves the child showing impartial
sociability and expressing more friendliness towards unknown persons than the primary care

The Politics Of Hong Kong
Political regularity environment
Policy can contribute to constrict or to empower business (Allan, M 2016). Based on the current
situation, the joint venture needs to sell single malt whiskey to Hong Kong as well as import from
Tasmanian (Australia). Therefore, the political regularity environment of Hong Kong and Australia
are vital to determine whether will Chet continue joint a venture.
From the perspective of Hong Kong, firstly, Hong Kong government advocates a free market and
free enterprise framework, which could create a favourable business environment for new enterprise
whose intend to invest in Hong Kong (Trade and Industry 2015).
Secondly, Hong Kong as the member of the World Trade Organization(WTO) and the Asia Pacific
Economic Cooperation (APEC) has a free trade policy, which could maintain no import tariffs and
no barriers on trade (Trade and Industry Department 2014). Further, according to the Index of
Economic Freedom (2016), Hong Kong has the highest index (88.6) in the world. This means for
international trade and investment, Hong Kong maintains one of the most open economies in the
world. Meanwhile, for foreign investment, Hong Kong has no tighter regulations and control. Most
foreign invested enterprises could retain their all ownership (Koscil 2011).
Apart from that, Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of the People?s Republic of China

The Challenge Of Facts By Samuel Graham Sumner
Samuel Graham Sumner wrote The Challenge of facts, and Walter Rauschenbusch wrote
Christianizing the Social Order in the early twentieth century that interconnect on themes present in
human society. Vice and virtue are commonly referred to as one relationship, while capitalism is
frequently referred to as a separate relationship, and they are constantly compared. Sumner starts his
essay out by explaining how socialism has been around forever. It can be visibly seen throughout
cultures, and societies throughout history from different time periods and different regions.
Socialism s roots essentially come from when man kind can portray harsh facts about human
society. Sumner s first example are homeless people. Obviously, the fact... Show more content on

He views this as a challenge because nature can give man the necessities, but each man is
burdened with the fact that he needs to succeed. Man can only succeed in life if one relies on
nature and man. Monogamous marriage and and dedicated family allows a man to become
respectable in society and tend more than any other forces to hold the individual up to the virtues
which make the sound man (Sumner, 19). The relationship between vice and virtue is explained
thoroughly. A human s race cannot be changed throughout life, which is essentially a vice for
some but a virtue for others. For some it is a penalty and for others it is a reward. That is just the
way life works, and these are harsh facts that humans have to accept everyday and in every
relationship. Preference, superiority, selection and devotion keep monogamous marriage a social
institution. Clearly, marriage degenerates when these characteristic traits are not present. In order
to have a true monogamous marriage, a man would have to mark the woman he married as
superior. However, this cannot be implicitly true. It is evident that some people should not be
parents, and should not raise children so there are clearly some flaws in this relationship among
society in these social institutions. In the relationship between children and parents, there are vices
but also virtues. Children have to deal with the consequences of their parents wrongdoings in
society; however, they are also

1.Introduction
The adaptations of George Bernard Shaw s drama Pygmalion (1914) have been a successful
classical collection in the world. Somehow people forget that the important character as well as
the real pygmalion is Prof. Henry Higgins, but not the flower girl Eliza. This is especially due to
the cast of Eliza in the Hollywood movie My Fair Lady (1964) Audrey Hepburn s great charms and
her idol effect.
As a response, this paper will focus on the professor of phonetics Henry Higgins and investigate
the changes of this character in different adaptations of Shaw s drama. More importantly,
endeavor to analyze the possible reasons for those changes. Different adaptations of Shaw s
drama Pygmalion (1914) that will be mentioned in this paper are: the black and white film
Pygmalion (1938); the musical My Fair Lady (1956), and the color film My Fair Lady (1964).

Charles Laughton (See figure 1). Nonetheless, for some unknown reasons, the cast of Higgins
changed to Leslie Howard (See figure 2), one of the two directors of this film, who is obviously
more handsome and charming than Shaw s expectation. In both the musical and the film version
of My Fair Lady, Rex Harrison (See figure 3) is the cast of Higgins, who looks older than Leslie
Howard in the 1938 film but still handsome and attractive to women audiences. figure 1 figure 2

Construction and Demolition Waste
Briefing Paper: Construction and Demolition Waste
Construction and demolition waste (CDW) is a significant issue in New Zealand. Teo and
Loosemore (2001) maintain: Levels of waste within the construction industry need to be reduced for
environmental and economic reasons. Changing people s wasteful behaviour can make a
significant contribution (pp.741). This paper defines the CDW issue, significant stakeholders,
relevant ethical theories and costs.
CDW has increased as construction volumes have risen generally, and following natural disasters.
For example, the Canterbury Earthquakes generated a major increase in CDW. Major damage to
buildings, rock falls and landslips, liquefaction and major infrastructure damage has left an
estimated $7.1 billion [Earthquake Commission] EQC bill, says Mackenzie (2011 pp.33). The
Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA, n.d.) estimated 8 million tonnes of CDW.
CERA (n.d.) points to the construction industry and local authorities working together to find and
quickly implement new solutions for recycling or reusing waste.
More generally, Level Organisation (2013) noted that demolition and construction processes are
the most significant producer of waste as opposed to other stages of buildings lives. Much CDW
is seen to be preventable: Most of this dumping of construction waste is unnecessary it has been
demonstrated that simply by sorting waste, at least half of it could be diverted from landfills (Level
Organisation, 2013).

Social Determinants Of Health Education
Background
Many people assume individual risk factors are the only conditions relevant to their wellbeing of
physical and mental health but in fact, education, along with age, gender, income and many others,
has been identified as one of the most important health promoting factors since people begin to
acknowledge the social determinants of health. Higher education is linked to not only increased job
opportunities, but also more resources that can improve individual s physical and mental health
(Shankar et al., 2013). Lleras Muney (2005) has reported the cause and effect relationship between
education and mortality, proving each additional year of education decreases mortality rate by more

Why Can t Kmart Be Successful While Target and Walmart Thrive?
What drives some companies to succeed while others languish? Successful companies develop a

customers.
Retailers provide many case studies in capabilities driven success, one of the most compelling of
which is the big discounter triad of Walmart, Target and Kmart. And in this fourth quarter retail

competitors because they provide valuable insight into the key components of a winning corporate

ambience of a warehouse. They carry Kenmore appliances, which may require high touch sales
assistance that many Sears customers expect and many Kmart stores lack. In short, Kmart has not
established an identifiable way to play that reflects both customers needs and its own capabilities.
Harry Cunningham, the founder of Kmart, allegedly admitted that Sam Walton (the founder of
Walmart) not only copied our concepts, he strengthened them.
The lack of a clear concept about how to reach the market, in our view, is the single most
important factor in explaining why Kmart s fortunes have fallen so far, compared to its two rivals.
Without a clear way to play, and capabilities to support it, a company cannot achieve the coherence
it needs to truly excel at what it does, and thus outpace competitors.

Decolonization Of The Country Of Ghana
One of the most desirable qualities to achieve is independence. Whether it be regarding intellectual,
financial, or emotional aspects of life, striving for independence continues to be a universal concept.
For the country of Ghana, independence became a necessity, and this type of freedom could only be
obtained through a process called decolonization. Decolonization is when a country removes itself
from a location it has colonized, leaving that location independent to govern over itself. The nature
of this can be problematic, due to the extensive difficulties of creating a functional country with
little time or practice. Decolonization originated from nationalist movements throughout the late
19th and early 20th century, and the observation of older colonies obtaining independence both
inspired and guided the country of Ghana to do the same. Understanding that the rewards of
decolonization far outweigh the problems it may bring is essential. The desire for decolonization
began once countries realized that the colonizing countries were not invincible. Weaknesses were
shown during World War II especially. Some of these weakness were the lack of attention and lack
of control these colonizing countries had. The colonized people s thirst for independence on top of
this vulnerability presented a perfect opportunity to begin independence movements. During the
beginning of World War II, a document named the Atlantic Charter was created. This document
described the goals of the

America. When aiming at stationary targets not firing back, you felt in control. You didn t really

As former American sergeant Camilo Mejia said, There s no higher assertion of freedom than to
follow your conscience. In 2003, Mejia went on a leave of absence from Iraq and never returned
because of his loathing of the abuse prisoners of war. He came out of hiding to face the army and
was sentenced to one year in military prison. He proclaimed that he felt freer there than ever
before. The disrespect from others that Mejia encountered was worth the great pride he had for
himself. When making an imperative decision, you cannot please everyone. Sometimes you
need to separate yourself from others. What your parents or friends preach is not necessarily
what you should live by. Staying true to yourself is what is most important. At certain times, you
have to delve deep to understand what really matters. Being someone who abandons their own
ideals and only lives out the dreams and beliefs of others is not the right way to go through life.
There s a chance you have a certain theory that no one else expresses, but is actually apprehended
by many. Conveying particular feelings can allow others to feel comfortable in doing the same. It
s easy to be misunderstood for following your conscience, especially when your actions might
seem contradictory. Conscientious objectors, for example, are looked down by some people but

Nicomachean Ethics In The Nightmare Before Christmas
Is happiness being the pumpkin king of Halloween? Or is it becoming Santa Claus to take on
Christmas. Tim Burton s The Nightmare Before Christmas is a great example of a movie that can
be adapted to Aristotelian Ethics. Throughout Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle aims to answer what
happiness is by providing some practical guidelines to reach Eudaimonia. Before I explain Aristotle
s Nicomachean Ethicsthrough this movie, I will first provide a summary of the movie and then
define some words that Aristotle seems to use as overarching themes like arГЄte, happiness,
Eudaimonia, telos, and the Golden Mean. The movie starts out as a musical number displaying
different elements of Halloween and concludes with presenting the Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington.

ArГЄte can be translated from Greek to mean virtue or excellence. Aristotle defines virtue as a
state of character concerned with choice. In the movie, Jack Skellington decides that being the
best or the king of Halloween means nothing. He makes a choice that he feels will develop him
morally; he will try to become Santa Claus. Jack was not born with these moral virtues though, as
Aristotle might say. Therefore he would need to apply virtue and reason to make the right
choices and to do good things. But the gifts that the residents of Halloween town created were
not reasonable Christmas gifts that provided joy and happiness to children. Even though Jack
was aiming for excellence, there is no way he could provide traditional gifts with the resources
they had. But, Aristotle claims if Jack and the rest of the town were educated enough and made it
a habit, like the elves in North Pole do, they would engrain that virtue. Like I mentioned in the
above paragraph, Jack attempted to learn more about Christmas, but the rest of the town just
couldn t understand it. The reason why Jack was the King of Halloween was because it was a
habit, he lived it everyday and celebrated every year. Even though Jack was the best at it, he never

Essay on Counterfeit Items Cause Economic Damage
Everyone has seen the sidewalk vendor hawking a too good to be true designer handbag. The
clues to counterfeit luxury items used to be so obvious that most people knew exactly what they
were buying. This sadly is no longer the case. The production of counterfeit items causes
American manufactures to suffer about $200 billion in losses each year according to the
International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (Freedman, 1999). A large part of counterfeited items
are fashion goods. They are usually easily recognizable, especially at the designer or luxury end
of the market. The more exclusive a brand is, the more likely it is to be counterfeited (Lai

Now that almost anything can be faked, counterfeiting is becoming a huge economic issue. Many
businesses are losing customers because they are not able to spot counterfeit items. Customers are
doing more and more shopping on the Internet for convenience and lower prices rather than
shopping at their local trusted retailer.
Customers are buying merchandise without knowing the seller or their reputation (McCausland,
2010). The shopper who would never have considered buying from the guy on the corner
whispering, Pssst! Want to buy a watch? can easily be fooled by a website that looks genuine but
isn t, says Susan Scafidi, a law professor at Fordham Univeristy (McCausland, 2010). Some
websites are even very open about the fact that they sell counterfeit merchandise. They label their
designer knockoffs as replicas or inspired by the original designer (Freedman, 1999). The shoppers
who do not realize that they are buying counterfeit goods or who are knowingly buying counterfeit
goods will continue to purchase these items from counterfeiters because they are cheaper than
buying the real thing.
The customers who are knowingly purchasing fakes are contributing to the reduced profitability of
legitimate businesses. These sales have driven companies out of business completely or they have
been forced to significantly scale back their operations.
Globalized production is another factor that

The Significance Of Church Going By Phillip Larkin
David Doan
Kevin Moore
05/21/2015
English 111
The Significance of Church Church Going by Phillip Larkin is a poem which hectors, but also
provides an interesting perspective on the significance and purpose of religion. Throughout the
poem, one can instantly recognize Larkin s agnostic beliefs because of the story s duel nature.
Church Going begins with an obviously atheist narrator ironically sneaking into an empty church.
Due to the narrator s ignorant and naГЇve personality, one can infer that the character could be a
curious young boy. While looking through all of the fancy decorations, books, and sacred items, he
begins to wonder what would happen to churches once people stopped practicing their faith and
most of all what the allure of religion is. In the end, the boy concludes that religion will forever
exist because there will always be big questions such as why are we here or what is the meaning of
life. Although Larkin is very skeptical about religion in his poem, it seems he cannot deny the
significance and impact the church has had in history. The church s ability to satisfy humanity s
want for a metaphysical entity, is the reason why there are so many followers even today. Larkin
first begins his poem by empathizing with atheists and viewing the church through their eyes. When
the boy sneaks into the church, one can tell how indifferent and almost disgusted he is towards the
building based on his descriptions. He points out how it is just another church:

Why Do Americans Already Enjoy Living Standards
#1. Americans already enjoy living standards that far exceed world averages. Do we have enough?
Should we even try to produce more? I think it is vital that Americans always continue to strive for
prosperity because our economy is so market driven. Without the motivational drive for increasing
output we would begin to lose vital elements behind our overall production in the United States.
Although, I think it is important that we remember the goods and services that our lower class

Summing up my point I d say we have enough but we must continue to treasure the mentality of
wanting more because it made our current standards of living possible.

Causes Of Fear Of Crime
Gilchrist et al (1998, pg283) explains that the fear of crime has become a phenomenon and one
that will be discussed within this journal review exploring whether or not women s fear is
rational or not. McLaughlin (2001) cited in Kinsella, C (2005) defines fear of crime as ...a rational
or irrational state of alarm or anxietyengendered by the belief that one is in danger of criminal
victimisation . Campbell (2005, pg120) explains that due to social political mobility, women s fear
of rapeis heightened, thus women are dependent on men to protect them from other men, however,
it has been shown that family members and close friends are normally the rapists. Alongside this,
Campbell (2005, pg121) continues to explain that through a criminological and victimological
viewpoint, the institutional, political and cultural surroundings additionally express that women are
more at risk than men. The British CrimeSurvey contributes further evidence of women being
assaulted by men they know as the survey showed that 32% of women were sexually assaulted by
a partner compared to 8% by strangers.
Gilchrist et al (1998, pg284) explains that with a low crime threat, women still have an irrational
response. However, feminist writers explain that this could be due to the fact that women suffer
sexual harassment and have less control over their space than men do, thus the higher fear levels.
Furthermore, Gilchrist (1998, pg285) tells us that women are are not hysterically overreacting to a

The Role Of Labor And Its Effects On A Capitalist System
Two men, or more accurately speaking, two novels separated by nearly a century, both examine
the importance of labor and its effects on a capitalist system. Adam Smith published the Wealth of
Nations in 1776 in which he detailed his concept of the division of labor; a concept he believed
would further the productivity of the labor market. In Capital, Volume 1, published in 1867, Karl
Marxtook a much different stance on the division of labor. Writing nearly a century after the
publication of the Wealth of Nations, Marx was in the position of the critiquing Smith s
revolutionary theory of the division of labor. Instead of praising Smith, Marx saw the current
state of labor and the capitalist model of society as degrading to the laborer. Through analysis of
these two novels, one can see that there exists two very polarizing views on the potential of the
division of labor. For Smith, the division of labor presented an entirely novel, almost
experimental way to improve the efficacy of the market. As such, Smith praised the potential of
the division of labor. Marx, writing one hundred years later, witnessed the reality that was the
division of labor. He in turn viewed the division of labor as damaging to society. One factor in
particular that divided Smith and Marx on the capabilities of labor and, more specifically, the
laborer was technology. As the technology of their respective times was vastly different, so was
their respective views of machinery. For one,

Hand Hygiene In Health Care
Hand hygiene is the simplest way, but the most important way to control infection (Di Muzio,
Cammilletti, Petrelli, Di Simone, 2015). This simple activity can protect patients and healthcare
workers (HCW) from infection. Healthcare workers including nursing staffs in the hospital keep
washing their hands with soap and water or with sanitizer when they are in and out of patient s
room. Even though all healthcare workers acknowledge the importance of hand hygiene in patient
care, the hospital acquired infections are still growing and cause multi drug resistant pathogen
infection as well (World HealthOrganization, 2009). Guideline of hand hygiene in health care,
provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) addressed a healthcare associated infection
(HACI) is the global problem especially in developing countries (World Health Organization,
2009). In addition, the guideline revealed health care workers mostly spread the gems such as
Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or C diff associated disease in the hospital
setting (World Health... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated above, many studies applied Orem s theory to various nursing disciplines and many books
were published to test and explain the theory. This theory also has high congruency with nursing
intervention. Again several empirical studies presented the successful application of the theory to
the various nursing intervention, and as reviewed, it will be applied to the basic nursing
intervention, hand hygiene.
As discussed above, self awareness of proper hand hygiene by the health care workers and
patients/caregivers and promoting good hand hygiene for discharge patient/ caregiver can be a
good example of Orem s self care theory. As a healthcare professional, a nurse should promote
patients proper hand hygiene and need good compliance of hand hygiene themselves. It can reduce
further HACI; preventable diseases; and help to promote patient s quality of

Plagiarism, The Most Common Form Of Academic Dishonesty
If an assignment is due in an hour, would a student copy an already created work or use their own
creativity to produce a composition? The most expedient choice would be to copy and, not credit
the source in order to complete the assignment on time. Acts of academic dishonesty such as
copying is growing among today s student. Plagiarism, the most common form of academic
dishonesty, is going viral as students misinterpret or disregard the essence of what plagiarism is.
Such actions may appear to be efficient, but it isn t worth punishment.
Honor Codes, rules set by an academic institution, are set in place to warn students against
conducting unethical actions such as plagiarizing. An academic institution may conduct
disciplinary actions against those who perform activities listed in their respective Honor Code.
These disciplinary actions range from failing an assignment to being expelled from school. Students
shouldn t plagiarize due to the various consequences.
Students may plagiarize for a variety of reasons. Obtaining a passing grade, lack of time, laziness,
as well as not understanding plagiarism can all be attributed to its practice. When I was in high
school, many of the students in a Geometry class would ask or try to copy my work without
permission. Most of them were short on time when the time to turn in an assignment arrived due to
their lack of attention during teaching and laziness. Plagiarism in this manner may be common due
to a lack of interest in a

Analysis Of Growing Up In Eleven By Sandra Cisneros
Growing up is something that everyone goes through. As one grows older they feel differently
about growing up. A young kid wants to grow up and going out into the real world, then that
same kid grows up a bit and faces the reality of life and doesn t want to grow old, but instead
wants to go back, the last phase is just accepting the fact that this is happening no matter what.
The first stage is wanting to grow up and looking forward to it. The story Eleven by Sandra
Cisneros shows the perspective of an eleven year old going through a tough situation: I wish I
was anything but eleven, because I want today to be far away already, far away like a runaway
balloon, like a tiny o in the sky, so tiny you have to close your eyes to see it (248). This little girl
has no idea what growing up is, she believes that being older will fix everything, this shows how
differently someone thinks when they re younger and more naive. Cisneros says, Today I wish I
was one hundred and two instead of eleven because if I was one hundred and two I d have
known what to say when Mrs. Price put the red sweater on my desk (247). Furthermore, Because
she s old and the teacher she s right and I m not (Cisneros 247). The little girl says this and it
applies to younger kids like herself because they ve lived their whole life listening to what adults
say that they have a tendency to just think they are right. The poem On Turning Ten by Billy
Collins says, It seems only yesterday I used to believe, there was nothing under my skin but light
/ If you cut me I could shine (29 32). This ten year old boy explains how he thought he was
invincible and nothing was impossible. The picture Growing Up by Hannah Galvin shows 7
figures at different stages in their life, the third figure shows a little boy who is excited and
running with his face up. This shows how he did everything with his head held high no matter what.
This first stage gives someone the innocence that makes them a little kid, and allows them to have
an imagination. The second stage is actually going out into the real world and realizing that
growing up isn t something to be excited for. Collins further states, But now I am mostly at the
window/ watching the late afternoon

CLABSI Scenarios
As the CEO of a hospital with the highest Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections
(CLABSI), I am approaching the problem from an evidence based standpoint. My first step is to
engage each team member, especially senior leadership, and ensure that everyone is on board to
reduce CLABSI occurrences. In a formal, mandatory meeting, I am giving all staff members a
detailed overview of the plan as well as an achievable goal for the upcoming fiscal year. While
outlining my expectations, I will welcome the infection control team to discuss successful evidence
based strategies and practices. Although the Department of Infection Control and Prevention will
take the lead in the investigation, it is important to note that no single method or... Show more

Cultural Awareness And Delivery Of Appropriate Care
Cultural Heritage As health care providers, it is imperative to acknowledge the relationship
between cultural awareness and delivery of appropriate care. The first step in creating cultural
awareness may begin by the provider assessing their own cultural heritage, and it s views on health
and wellness. Reflection on one s cultural heritage requires knowledge and understanding of the
concept of cultural heritage itself. When assessing my cultural heritage, I first examined the factors
that are identified as contributors to one s heritage. According the Joint Commission (2010), culture
can be defined as integrated patterns of human behavior that include the language, thoughts,
communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values, and institutions of racial, ethnic, religious, or
social groups . Once reflecting on these patterns, I concluded that my ethnicity and religious
upbringing were the two components of my heritage that most greatly affected my behaviors. I
belong to the Franco American, English, and Scottish ethnic groups. However, being predominately
Franco American and having closer relationships with my family members of this ethnicity as a
child, I mainly identify with this group. Since their migration to various locations in New England;
primarily throughout the late eighteen hundreds to early nineteen hundreds, French Canadians have
been recognized for their rigorous work ethics. Many immigrant men, women, and children worked
in mills after relocating to the

Causes Of Haiti Earthquake
Despite the fact that the 2010 Haiti Earthquake had a magnitude of 7.0, it caused 316000 deaths,
destroyed over 105000 buildings and left the whole country in rubble. Human contribution
contributed greatly to the casualties and the severity of the earthquake.
A social factor that influenced the severity of the earthquake was where people chose to live. Haiti
is located on fault lines, where the epicentre of the earthquake is and where the earthquake is most
severe. The earthquake s epicentre was estimated to be around a mere 25 km away from the Port
au prince, the capital of Haiti and home to Вј of the population. The closer the area was to the
epicentre, the more intense the earthquake was and the greater the destruction. The area was also
urbanised with many buildings, due to the great number of people who resided there which meant
that many buildings were destroyed and many people were killed.
Poverty was an economic factor that greatly influenced how the earthquake affected the population.
In Haiti, 80% of the population was under the poverty line. в…” of Labor force employees relied
on agriculture and due to high unemployment levels, many did not have a job and the population
owned an average of under $2 a day. During the earthquake, Haiti s agricultural industries were
destroyed, leaving most of the county unemployed and unable to produce its main exports. This
further exacerbated the problem of poverty and left the population without resources, food and
water.

Princess Cut Cons
The princess cut has been around since the 1970s, so it s relatively new when compared to other
types of cuts that have been around for hundreds of years. The princess cut can be one of the least
common types of cuts, too. Really fantastic, brilliant and flashy princess cut engagement rings are
rare, yet the price isn t terribly high compared to other cuts.
Pros of the Princess Cut Engagement Ring
Less Expensive than Some Cuts
When compared to some of the other cuts, the princess is less expensive. Cutting of the diamond
with its facets will determine how much is wasted and cut from the diamond itself. This can be a
determining factor in the price of the diamond cut.
Hides Blemishes
The facets of the princess cut go a long way towards hiding blemishes. ... Show more content on

A good jeweler can create a setting that will protect the corners. He or she might also be able to
chamfer the stone, which removes a very small amount of the corners to protect it without altering
the shape.
Extra Care of the Corners
When you have to care for the corners of the diamond, you cannot choose a setting that leaves them
bare. That limits the types and styles of settings you can get for your diamond. You ll also need to
make sure the light isn t blocked with the setting itself.
Limited Availability
This doesn t have to be a con. When a princess cut, or any other cut, has limited availability yet it
doesn t raise the price, that s a great attribute. You re getting a style of ring that are not the same as
anyone else.
If you look around your office, the gym or a restaurant, you ll see plenty of women with a round

The Importance Of Teaching And Learning In The 21st Century
Teaching and learning in the 21st century are developing learning, skills and knowledge for pupils
in today s world. In addition, comparing the difference to the 20th century. Therefore, reflecting on
your own educational experience, while looking at influences of change in education, Globalisation
and Social Change. Discussing the benefits of change in the curriculum and diversity. However,
challenges of entering the workforce and accessing technology. Meanwhile, educating children to
adapt to an ever changing world, therefore, contributing to a competitive and successful life in the
future.
Teaching and learning in the 21st century develop skills beyond listening, watching and
remembering. Education in the 21st century incorporates advanced learning tools, development of
skills, while actively involved in your own learning and environment. However, 21st education is
motivating while inspiring and preparing students for today s world, as well as having the ability to
adapt to the changing world of tomorrow.
Twenty first century education is understanding how students learn with a more hands on approach
while building skills. The 4C s creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration (Kolk,
2011) are skills that are important for students learning. They can actively consume and create data
and knowledge in ways that deliver substance and relevance to them (Bolstad et al., 2012; Watson,
2012).
The classroom in the 21ST century is a modern environment with little groups of tables placed
together for students to sit while the room decorated with student s art. In addition, technology with
an interactive whiteboard, Internet access, projector, computers. All accessible for student and
teachers daily. Compared to the 20th century where students sat at individual desks in rows with no
technology in sight or bright art, just a blackboard and chalk (Shaw, 2017).
Pedagogy, a more modern environment today places emphasis on each child to discover and grow
while developing skills such as 4 C s which they need to be successful tomorrow. Besides, receiving
the advantages of technology to help them enlarge their knowledge and share data instantaneously
on a worldwide scale. The positive change in education

Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurson Analysis
In 1791 Thomas Paine wrote the book Rights of Man in which Paine illustrates his thoughts on
the unity of the American people. Walter Russell, however, says America has always been a
division of man. There has always been the conqueror and conquered the master and slave the
ruler and the ruled the oppressor and the oppressed. There has never been content nor unity.
There has been only discontent and disunity . While in the United States there are people similar
to Thomas, who believe and strive for freedom and diversity, there are also those who Walter
Russell illustrates that promote racism, violence, and disunity. I mostly disagree with Thomas
Paine because, while there are times of peace; justice; and concord, there are far greater
instances of oppression, privilege, and riots. Two examples of oppression in the America come
from the book Their Eyes Were Watching God written by Zora Neale Hurston. Janie, a black
woman living in the post civil war South, is oppressed by her husband, Logan Killicks, when he
yells at her, Ah ll take holt uh dat ax and come in dere and kill yuh! You better dry up in dere! Ah
m too honest and hard workin for anybody in yo family, dat s de reason you don t want me! (38).
Logan disrespects his wife and puts her below him by saying he is more honest and diligent than
her and her family, showing oppression in the America on a personal level with husband and wife.
An example of oppression on a more communal level is with Jody, the mayor

The Issues Surrounding The Idea Of Immunization Essay
In this assignment I intend to explore the issues surrounding the idea of immunization. The purpose
of immunization is to prevent people from acquiring infectious diseases and to protect them against
the associated short and longer term complications (Cory, 2012). Vaccines produce a specific
immune response to build resistance against infectious diseases (Government of South Australia,
2012). There are two main perspectives surrounding this issue, for and against receiving injections.
Those who support immunizationbelieve the riskis minimal because the benefits exceed the
negative effects that may occur from the injections. However, other people feel there is huge risk
involved because the injections will not increase immunity levels and the possibilities of negative
reactions are too great of risk. This conflict of perceptions is related to the way people perceive
cognitive limitations, the psychometric paradigm and the axiomatic paradigm; these include factors
such as dread, control and voluntariness. A great influence on these perceptions is health
professionals communication strategies, who target social media, advertisements and reports.
The concept of risk means different things to different people. In order to make decisions wisely,
individuals need to understand the risks and the benefits associated with alternative courses of
action. (Baruch Fischhoff, 1993). Many health risks can arise from an individual s subjective
judgment, as people interpret their

  • 2. August Osage County Movie Analysis Wow, was the first thought that came to mind when watching the film August Osage County, which depicts a chaotically enmeshed family. Erratic discipline and dramatic role shifts were visible within this families. Drugs and alcohol kept this family in a constant state of chaos where individual s reactions are unpredictable. The familyrule seems to be that the females are mean. Speak your mind, don t hold your tongue and never think of how what you say will affect others. The film talked about Violet s upbringing, allowing the viewer to comprehend that she came from a house of abuse where the mother was mean and seemed to get joy in inflicting pain on her children. The story of the Christmas boots was a dramatic example of Violet s upbringing. Barbra (Violet s daughter) also has a sharp tongue because she was raised by her mean spirited mother. The family of origin is having a strong effect. Left unchallenged a multigenerational dysfunction continues. Satir and Family Therapy (SFT) looks at problematic families having ... Elizabeth never discloses why she banned her brother from the family. Fear of their son going to jail allowed the rule to be put in place, but I am still left perplexed as to why Junon did not call a meeting to resolve the situation. Although there was a hint at the rule our children s business is their own when the parents do not interfere in the affair that was instigated under their roof. Furthermore, building self esteem would help the family since all the members lacked confidence in themselves. Healing occurred when Henri and Paul were open and honest with each other demonstrating that the problem is not the problem it is the way that people deal with the problem (Banmen Maki Banmen, ... • 3. Analysis Of An Imploding Country An Imploding Country: A.K.A America America: a melting pot of diverse cultures and people, a place full of opportunity, and a country bleeding with patriotism. With these ideas in mind, America is the perfect place to be. Immigrants who came to America as early as the 19th century believed that they would have better lives in this new country and could start fresh. This utopian ideal of America, however, has not lasted. In fact, America has gone away from these ideals set upon it years ago. Instead, because of poverty, America is an implosion of racewars, political division, and drug epidemics. In America, there are constantly signs and tones of a race war taking place. African Americans believe that they are targeted by whites. Raja explains that [g]roups that are discriminated against, such as Afro descendants, minorities, indigenous peoples, migrants, and refugees, are disproportionately affected by poverty in all regions of the world. Many African Americans live in poverty, contributing to the idea that poverty causes race wars. Since these particular groups feel discriminated against because of their social status AND skin color, they connect any sort of police mistreatment to it being because of their status, and they are more likely to act out against arrests and police enforcement. In the past 20 years, the opinion of the police has, shift[ed] from one of trust and respect to one of distrust and fear of abuse of power (Polidoro). In 2016, five Dallas police officers were shot and killed as a way of payback for the racial issues in America. According to Fernandez, The shooting was the kind of retaliatory violence that people have feared through two years of protests around the country against deaths in police custody, forcing yet another wrenching shift in debates over race and criminal justice that had already deeply divided the nation. Also, Lenz explains, The suspect said he was upset at white people...[and] wanted to kill white people, especially white officers. This violent shooting as well as others, has caused the division of race in America to increase dramatically because African Americans in poverty feel threatened by white police officers. • 4. An Essay About Swag For the past years, there are a lot of words that are made by the youth. They generate new terms that they can make use of when they interact with other people. There are also lists of new terms which they use in a negative definition; however, the real meaning is in a positive manner. One of the popular words that are being used incorrectly is swag. The usage of swag was brought back and was popularized by different famous artists by the help of the music industry. The wordwas used in various hip hop songs by Jay Z, Pharell Williams, Soulja Boy, and Lil B. Originally, Merriam Webster (n.d.) defined swag as a transitive verbwhich is sway or lurch and it can be also a noun which means a stolen property. Though in this generation, swag is habitually used in a negative meaning. For some, it is attributed in being cool in a manner of bullyingor making fun of other people. When a person acknowledges another that he or she has swag, it uplifts the person s morale because he or she is being praised by other people in a positive point of view. Though it does not only focus directly on oneself confidence but it also boosts the ego of another person since they do their best to convince others to feel good or contended about themselves as well. Optimism Bias Analysis The optimism bias pushes people towards positive change because most people want positive change and according to Tali Sharot to make changes in our life we must believe that the changes are possible. Even rather pessimistic people want to change there for they believe it is possible. When a person believes in change and anticipates the change it releases serotonin in the brain and brings about a happy feeling, there for improving their overall wellbeing. When I enrolled in college I remember the good feeling it brought and still brings. The optimistic bias is hard at work in my mind when it comes to my success in school. • 6. The Significance Of The Four Noble Practices In Western... 1. Various things echo practices in Western religion. The Noble Eightfold Path for instance, echoes the Ten Commandments of the Christianity. They both instruct people on what and whatnot to do, and give them a guideline for everyday life. For example, the Noble Eightfold path instructs people to have Right Conduct, which is similar to the Ten Commandments saying not to kill or steal. The Four Noble Truths tell about the evils of the World and how to avoid them, just like the Bible. Also, the Bible tells Christians how to please God and eventually reach Heaven, just as the Four Noble Truths leads Buddhists to Nirvana. • 7. Decision Making That Permits Influence An Investment Abroad INTRODUCTION: The world is changing more rapidly; consequently organizations are promptly the way they operate as well to ensure survival and growth in high velocity turbulent markets. To succeed an organization has to anticipate, react and even lead in terms of strategic decisions to enhance profits. It is pertinent to understand that a series of systematic decisions is undertaken before an investment abroad is carried on with. According to Sundaram Stewart 1992 there is a system of decision making that permits influence which refers to the firm s ability to coordinate and control endogenous organizational variables and quasi endogenous market variables (coupled with exogenous factors (e.g exchange rates, regulations, tariffs and political set up). Investment decisions are critical for the performance of an organization. From a micro perspective, they are fundamental for the growth of individual companies, increasing their efficiency by reducing per unit costs, enhancing profits by tapping new market segments and exploiting more resources. At a company s level, an investment decision abroad is much more complicated and requires more research; it is more of a multi criteria process taking into account numerous factors. These are primarily economic and risk factors, political and social environment and government regulations. Naturally, the effects of these factors on decisions of individual companies may vary significantly. Each of the risk has been separately defined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Joan Of Arc Analysis Joan of Arc is portrayed as a woman who came out of nowhere to help the French win the Hundred Years War with the words of God powering her. Joan was even considered a gift from God although there were priestly men that thought Joan was a fake which later contributed to her devastating death at the hands of the English. Joan became a powerful womanwhen the visions led her to the holy mission of saving Francewhile using her intellect and sharp tongue when the time called for it. The eccentric tendencies of Joan is what led to her ultimate downfall. Joan accepted the role of saving France that was believed to be from god that was sent for her to fulfill. The visions had a plan that was something only Joan could do and that would help the France. Joan had a light bulb moment at the siege of OrlГ©ans that triggered knowledge of her mission... From that moment Jeanne s spiritual way was closely related to the politics of her land and time [1] Joan decided that God spoke to her through the angels and that if God proclaimed it then it would be done. The trip to the Dauphin of France, and having to prove to the Dauphin that Joan was not a silly peasant girl by having successes in battle. The tactical mind of Joan brought many victories that were allowed. The contribution of the visions that showed Joan the role that would be played is that the tide of the 100 year war was changing in favor of the French and the changing of gender roles started by Joan. From reviewing examples of resumes for the position I am applying to, I found differences in which I believe would be necessary to add, and realization that I needed to apply an overall change for the better. Resumes I had come across had technical skills closer to the bottom, and general skills closer to the top. From my perspective, it would be helpful to have these in one section of the resume, so that the hiring manager can review first, which programming languages the applicant has knowledge in, then what competencies are held outside of programming. In return, this helps the hiring manager to gain an understanding of how the applicant can apply their overall knowledge to the position. Specific skills in my resume included T SQL, C#, JavaScript, user acceptance testing, technical analysis, and material gathering, and each of these in fact applied to the job description in one area. Additional skills were added that could be useful to the position as well. Prior to this assignment, for work history, I had just used bullet points for specific tasks done on a daily basis. From looking at other resumes for this field, key achievement fields stood out to me. I carefully selected my key achievements to be geared towards using knowledge to help other teams, and utilizing applications that are used in the position each day. To Muslims, prayer acts as a reminder of Allah s reign over their lives. Muslims pray five times a day. They pray at daybreak, noon, mid afternoon, sunset, and evening. In predominantly Muslim countries, the adhan, or the call to prayer, is sounded at each specific time. There are slight changes to the adhan according to which prayer is being made. • 13. A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace 1.What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before delving into its dangers. Layman s terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits the visibility at ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may prevent you from locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms when the difference between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 В°F. Fog begins to form when water vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air, usually also clinging to pollutants or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water vapor is added to the air by: wind convergence into areas of upward direction, precipitation, daytime heating which evaporates water from the surface of large bodies of water, oceans or wetlands; transpiration from plants, cool or dry air moving over warmer water, and lifting air over mountains. Think of fog as a lower rendition of the cloud form stratus; meaning it is a lower deck that occurs when a cool air mass is confined under a warm air mass. 2.Different types of fogs? Foggiest place in the United States? Fog can form in many ways dependent on what caused the cooling and how the condensation occurred. Health Science Librarians Essay Librarians have always worked with information, but the question of whether or not librarians should get involved with big data has not always been an easy one to answer. On the other hand, since most health care researchers are subject specialists and have limited data science skills, most librarians in the healthsciences realize they do need to become involved in it. That they have to provide health care researchers with as much help and information as they can. Consequently, the real question for them should be exactly how they need to be involved. Through the years, it has been known as co suppression, post transcriptional gene silencing, quelling, and others due to the ability to deactivate or suppress certain genes, mostly in Eukaryotes. RNAi has proved to be a very powerful instrument in medicine, biotechnology, genomics and others. The medicines currently produced can actually stop the production of certain proteins to treat specific illnesses, essentially making a genetic off switch for certain genes. A common focus of RNAi is targeting cancers, liver disease, and Hepatitis C., by utilizing small single and double sided RNAsegments that alter the host RNA, allowing for little to no DNA change while stopping the function and reproduction of the target. One of the only downsides to this kind of treatment is that it is nonreversible and must be taken slowly to study its effects in total. This growing field is a perfect example of how simple genetic concepts are able to help shape human health forever. In Elbashir, Lendeckel, and Tuschl s article, they explore how 21 and 22 nucleotides RNAs mediate RNA interferenceby using an in vitro Drosophila system; this article is still referenced today as an authoritative source for RNAi research They show that the ... • 19. Single Point Incremental Forming Of Conventional Holes... Single Point Incremental Forming Conventional hole flanging is a forming procedure used to make round or awry flanges. In this procedure, a holed sheet, inflexibly settle to a pass on with a clear holder, is plastically distorted chiefly by bending and circumferential extending with a punch. In hole flanging by single point incremental forming (SPIF), a level sheet with a pre cut hole is shaped by a solitary point rotating instrument that continuously delivers a smooth, round flanged lip. The forming device is driven by a CNC machine taking after continuously a pre built up direction. The material is currently predominantly distorted by a mix of circumferential and outspread extending and bending. There are numerous modern utilizations of this procedure, for example, fortifying the edge of the holes, enhancing its appearance or giving extra backing to joining sheet parts to tubes, among others. Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is an as of late incredible sheet metal part creation procedure that is step by step developing towards modern applicability. In this procedure a sheet metal part is shaped in a stepwise manner by a CNC controlled spherical rotating tool without the requirement for a supporting (fractional) die. This system permits a moderately quick and shabby production of small series of sheet metal parts. In the SPIF procedure generic, freestyle shapes can be created utilizing a standard, circular, CNC controlled instrument. The procedure begins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS) Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on housing prices because a simultaneous relationship between land use and housing prices exists. For example, better accessibility or high levels of mixed land use increase housing prices because such land use features bring about more activities firms are encouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this approach cannot deal with spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. Previous studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing prices or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the estimated values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we use generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity and spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations; P=О»WP+О±L М‚+ОІX+u (5) u=ПЃWu+Пµ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a log form of housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the following equations; lnвЃЎ(P)=О»W[ln(P)]+О±L М‚+ОІX+u(6) u=ПЃWu+Пµ 4.2. Spatial Weight Matrix A spatial weight matrix presents the pairwise spatial relationship between two any spatial units. It has two different types such as contiguity based weight matrix and distance based weight matrix. Although it can be chosen by researcher s judgement, distance based weight matrix is more appropriate when the size of spatial units is irregular (e.g., in the case of census tracts). It is a precise process, and there are a number of factors that affect its effectiveness. In particular, the development of a child is determinant of the adolescent behaviors, uniqueness and intelligence. Therefore, a considerable degree of weight is placed on the components that lead to the maturity of the child. In the development of a child, one of the key principles is called attachment. Just as safe attachment between the caregiver and the child can result in successful physical, mental and social development, vulnerable attachment can yield damaging consequences for the child in these areas (DeMulder, Denham, Schmidt, Mitchell, 2000). Reactive attachment disorder is a likely outcome of unsafe attachment that eventually restricts the child s capacity to emotionally and socially connect with other individuals, while destroying the cognitive ability as well (Crosson Tower, 2013). Sumner starts his essay out by explaining how socialism has been around forever. Man can only succeed in life if one relies on nature and man. Monogamous marriage and and dedicated family allows a man to become respectable in society and tend more than any other forces to hold the individual up to the virtues which make the sound man (Sumner, 19). The relationship between vice and virtue is explained thoroughly. A human s race cannot be changed throughout life, which is essentially a vice for some but a virtue for others. For some it is a penalty and for others it is a reward. That is just the way life works, and these are harsh facts that humans have to accept everyday and in every relationship. Preference, superiority, selection and devotion keep monogamous marriage a social institution. Clearly, marriage degenerates when these characteristic traits are not present. In order to have a true monogamous marriage, a man would have to mark the woman he married as superior. However, this cannot be implicitly true. It is evident that some people should not be parents, and should not raise children so there are clearly some flaws in this relationship among society in these social institutions. In the relationship between children and parents, there are vices but also virtues. Children have to deal with the consequences of their parents wrongdoings in society; however, they are also ... Teo and Loosemore (2001) maintain: Levels of waste within the construction industry need to be reduced for environmental and economic reasons. Changing people s wasteful behaviour can make a significant contribution (pp.741). This paper defines the CDW issue, significant stakeholders, relevant ethical theories and costs. CDW has increased as construction volumes have risen generally, and following natural disasters. For example, the Canterbury Earthquakes generated a major increase in CDW. Major damage to buildings, rock falls and landslips, liquefaction and major infrastructure damage has left an estimated $7.1 billion [Earthquake Commission] EQC bill, says Mackenzie (2011 pp.33). The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA, n.d.) estimated 8 million tonnes of CDW. CERA (n.d.) points to the construction industry and local authorities working together to find and quickly implement new solutions for recycling or reusing waste. More generally, Level Organisation (2013) noted that demolition and construction processes are the most significant producer of waste as opposed to other stages of buildings lives. • 32. Decolonization Of The Country Of Ghana One of the most desirable qualities to achieve is independence. Whether it be regarding intellectual, financial, or emotional aspects of life, striving for independence continues to be a universal concept. For the country of Ghana, independence became a necessity, and this type of freedom could only be obtained through a process called decolonization. Decolonization is when a country removes itself from a location it has colonized, leaving that location independent to govern over itself. The nature of this can be problematic, due to the extensive difficulties of creating a functional country with little time or practice. Decolonization originated from nationalist movements throughout the late 19th and early 20th century, and the observation of older colonies obtaining independence both inspired and guided the country of Ghana to do the same. Understanding that the rewards of decolonization far outweigh the problems it may bring is essential. The desire for decolonization began once countries realized that the colonizing countries were not invincible. Weaknesses were shown during World War II especially. Some of these weakness were the lack of attention and lack of control these colonizing countries had. The colonized people s thirst for independence on top of this vulnerability presented a perfect opportunity to begin independence movements. In the movie, Jack Skellington decides that being the best or the king of Halloween means nothing. He makes a choice that he feels will develop him morally; he will try to become Santa Claus. Jack was not born with these moral virtues though, as Aristotle might say. Therefore he would need to apply virtue and reason to make the right choices and to do good things. But the gifts that the residents of Halloween town created were not reasonable Christmas gifts that provided joy and happiness to children. Even though Jack was aiming for excellence, there is no way he could provide traditional gifts with the resources they had. The Significance Of Church Going By Phillip Larkin David Doan Kevin Moore 05/21/2015 English 111 The Significance of Church Church Going by Phillip Larkin is a poem which hectors, but also provides an interesting perspective on the significance and purpose of religion. Throughout the poem, one can instantly recognize Larkin s agnostic beliefs because of the story s duel nature. Church Going begins with an obviously atheist narrator ironically sneaking into an empty church. Due to the narrator s ignorant and naГЇve personality, one can infer that the character could be a curious young boy. While looking through all of the fancy decorations, books, and sacred items, he begins to wonder what would happen to churches once people stopped practicing their faith and most of all what the allure of religion is. In the end, the boy concludes that religion will forever exist because there will always be big questions such as why are we here or what is the meaning of life. Although Larkin is very skeptical about religion in his poem, it seems he cannot deny the significance and impact the church has had in history. The church s ability to satisfy humanity s want for a metaphysical entity, is the reason why there are so many followers even today. Larkin first begins his poem by empathizing with atheists and viewing the church through their eyes. When the boy sneaks into the church, one can tell how indifferent and almost disgusted he is towards the building based on his descriptions. He points out how it is just another church: ... • 40. Why Do Americans Already Enjoy Living Standards #1. Americans already enjoy living standards that far exceed world averages. Do we have enough? Should we even try to produce more? I think it is vital that Americans always continue to strive for prosperity because our economy is so market driven. Without the motivational drive for increasing output we would begin to lose vital elements behind our overall production in the United States. Although, I think it is important that we remember the goods and services that our lower class enjoys are considered luxuries in the poorer population of many other nations. Summing up my point I d say we have enough but we must continue to treasure the mentality of wanting more because it made our current standards of living possible. #2. Why is GDP ... • 41. Causes Of Fear Of Crime Gilchrist et al (1998, pg283) explains that the fear of crime has become a phenomenon and one that will be discussed within this journal review exploring whether or not women s fear is rational or not. McLaughlin (2001) cited in Kinsella, C (2005) defines fear of crime as ...a rational or irrational state of alarm or anxietyengendered by the belief that one is in danger of criminal victimisation . Campbell (2005, pg120) explains that due to social political mobility, women s fear of rapeis heightened, thus women are dependent on men to protect them from other men, however, it has been shown that family members and close friends are normally the rapists. Alongside this, Campbell (2005, pg121) continues to explain that through a criminological and victimological viewpoint, the institutional, political and cultural surroundings additionally express that women are more at risk than men. The British CrimeSurvey contributes further evidence of women being assaulted by men they know as the survey showed that 32% of women were sexually assaulted by a partner compared to 8% by strangers. Gilchrist et al (1998, pg284) explains that with a low crime threat, women still have an irrational response. However, feminist writers explain that this could be due to the fact that women suffer sexual harassment and have less control over their space than men do, thus the higher fear levels. Furthermore, Gilchrist (1998, pg285) tells us that women are are not hysterically overreacting to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Role Of Labor And Its Effects On A Capitalist System Two men, or more accurately speaking, two novels separated by nearly a century, both examine the importance of labor and its effects on a capitalist system. Adam Smith published the Wealth of Nations in 1776 in which he detailed his concept of the division of labor; a concept he believed would further the productivity of the labor market. In Capital, Volume 1, published in 1867, Karl Marxtook a much different stance on the division of labor. Writing nearly a century after the publication of the Wealth of Nations, Marx was in the position of the critiquing Smith s revolutionary theory of the division of labor. Instead of praising Smith, Marx saw the current state of labor and the capitalist model of society as degrading to the laborer. Through analysis of these two novels, one can see that there exists two very polarizing views on the potential of the division of labor. For Smith, the division of labor presented an entirely novel, almost experimental way to improve the efficacy of the market. As such, Smith praised the potential of the division of labor. Marx, writing one hundred years later, witnessed the reality that was the division of labor. He in turn viewed the division of labor as damaging to society. One factor in particular that divided Smith and Marx on the capabilities of labor and, more specifically, the laborer was technology. As the technology of their respective times was vastly different, so was their respective views of machinery. For one, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Hand Hygiene In Health Care Hand hygiene is the simplest way, but the most important way to control infection (Di Muzio, Cammilletti, Petrelli, Di Simone, 2015). This simple activity can protect patients and healthcare workers (HCW) from infection. Healthcare workers including nursing staffs in the hospital keep washing their hands with soap and water or with sanitizer when they are in and out of patient s room. Even though all healthcare workers acknowledge the importance of hand hygiene in patient care, the hospital acquired infections are still growing and cause multi drug resistant pathogen infection as well (World HealthOrganization, 2009). • 46. Analysis Of Growing Up In Eleven By Sandra Cisneros Growing up is something that everyone goes through. As one grows older they feel differently about growing up. A young kid wants to grow up and going out into the real world, then that same kid grows up a bit and faces the reality of life and doesn t want to grow old, but instead wants to go back, the last phase is just accepting the fact that this is happening no matter what. The first stage is wanting to grow up and looking forward to it. The story Eleven by Sandra Cisneros shows the perspective of an eleven year old going through a tough situation: I wish I was anything but eleven, because I want today to be far away already, far away like a runaway balloon, like a tiny o in the sky, so tiny you have to close your eyes to see it (248). This little girl has no idea what growing up is, she believes that being older will fix everything, this shows how differently someone thinks when they re younger and more naive. Cisneros says, Today I wish I was one hundred and two instead of eleven because if I was one hundred and two I d have known what to say when Mrs. Price put the red sweater on my desk (247). Furthermore, Because she s old and the teacher she s right and I m not (Cisneros 247). The little girl says this and it applies to younger kids like herself because they ve lived their whole life listening to what adults say that they have a tendency to just think they are right. The poem On Turning Ten by Billy Collins says, It seems only yesterday I used to believe, there was nothing under my skin but light / If you cut me I could shine (29 32). This ten year old boy explains how he thought he was invincible and nothing was impossible. The picture Growing Up by Hannah Galvin shows 7 figures at different stages in their life, the third figure shows a little boy who is excited and running with his face up. This shows how he did everything with his head held high no matter what. This first stage gives someone the innocence that makes them a little kid, and allows them to have an imagination. The second stage is actually going out into the real world and realizing that growing up isn t something to be excited for. Collins further states, But now I am mostly at the window/ watching the late afternoon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Cultural Awareness And Delivery Of Appropriate Care Cultural Heritage As health care providers, it is imperative to acknowledge the relationship between cultural awareness and delivery of appropriate care. The first step in creating cultural awareness may begin by the provider assessing their own cultural heritage, and it s views on health and wellness. Reflection on one s cultural heritage requires knowledge and understanding of the concept of cultural heritage itself. When assessing my cultural heritage, I first examined the factors that are identified as contributors to one s heritage. According the Joint Commission (2010), culture can be defined as integrated patterns of human behavior that include the language, thoughts, communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values, and institutions of racial, ethnic, religious, or social groups . Once reflecting on these patterns, I concluded that my ethnicity and religious upbringing were the two components of my heritage that most greatly affected my behaviors. I belong to the Franco American, English, and Scottish ethnic groups. However, being predominately Franco American and having closer relationships with my family members of this ethnicity as a child, I mainly identify with this group. Human contribution contributed greatly to the casualties and the severity of the earthquake. A social factor that influenced the severity of the earthquake was where people chose to live. Haiti is located on fault lines, where the epicentre of the earthquake is and where the earthquake is most severe. The earthquake s epicentre was estimated to be around a mere 25 km away from the Port au prince, the capital of Haiti and home to Вј of the population. The closer the area was to the epicentre, the more intense the earthquake was and the greater the destruction. The area was also urbanised with many buildings, due to the great number of people who resided there which meant that many buildings were destroyed and many people were killed. Poverty was an economic factor that greatly influenced how the earthquake affected the population. In Haiti, 80% of the population was under the poverty line. в…” of Labor force employees relied on agriculture and due to high unemployment levels, many did not have a job and the population owned an average of under $2 a day. • 52. Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurson Analysis In 1791 Thomas Paine wrote the book Rights of Man in which Paine illustrates his thoughts on the unity of the American people. Walter Russell, however, says America has always been a division of man. There has always been the conqueror and conquered the master and slave the ruler and the ruled the oppressor and the oppressed. There has never been content nor unity. There has been only discontent and disunity . While in the United States there are people similar to Thomas, who believe and strive for freedom and diversity, there are also those who Walter Russell illustrates that promote racism, violence, and disunity. I mostly disagree with Thomas Paine because, while there are times of peace; justice; and concord, there are far greater instances of oppression, privilege, and riots. Two examples of oppression in the America come from the book Their Eyes Were Watching God written by Zora Neale Hurston. Janie, a black woman living in the post civil war South, is oppressed by her husband, Logan Killicks, when he yells at her, Ah ll take holt uh dat ax and come in dere and kill yuh! You better dry up in dere! Ah m too honest and hard workin for anybody in yo family, dat s de reason you don t want me! (38). • 53. The Issues Surrounding The Idea Of Immunization Essay In this assignment I intend to explore the issues surrounding the idea of immunization. The purpose of immunization is to prevent people from acquiring infectious diseases and to protect them against the associated short and longer term complications (Cory, 2012). Vaccines produce a specific immune response to build resistance against infectious diseases (Government of South Australia, 2012). There are two main perspectives surrounding this issue, for and against receiving injections. Those who support immunizationbelieve the riskis minimal because the benefits exceed the negative effects that may occur from the injections. However, other people feel there is huge risk involved because the injections will not increase immunity levels and the possibilities of negative reactions are too great of risk. This conflict of perceptions is related to the way people perceive cognitive limitations, the psychometric paradigm and the axiomatic paradigm; these include factors such as dread, control and voluntariness. A great influence on these perceptions is health professionals communication strategies, who target social media, advertisements and reports. The concept of risk means different things to different people. In order to make decisions wisely, individuals need to understand the risks and the benefits associated with alternative courses of action. (Baruch Fischhoff, 1993).
