The Interpretation Of Tempo, Dynamics And Expression...
The interpretation of Tempo, Dynamics and Expression through Instrumentation in three recordings of
Vittorio Monti s Czardas
Vittorio Monti s famous virtuosic piece Czardas has been arranged for many instruments over the
years. Being a percussionist and having played this piece I was interested in how this piece would
vary in terms of tempo, dynamics and expression due to instrumentation. I chose to compare three
recordings: one by violinist Frank Kim accompanied by piano as this represents the piece as it was
originally written for piano and violin. Frank Kim performs it with a lot of expression and extremes of
dynamic and tempo more typical of the romantic period; The Horseholm Percussion and Marimba
Ensemble which used similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Italian composer Vittorio Monti was born in 1868 in Naples. He attended the Conservatoire of
San Pietro a Majella where he studied composition and violin, as well as playing mandolin. When he
was in his thirty s he was asked to conduct in Paris for the Lamourex Orchestra, during this period
Monti composed a number of operas and ballets such as Noel de Pierrot. In 1904 he wrote what is
probably his most famous piece, Czardas, which he based on the Hungarian folk dance called Csardas.
Although originally composed for solo violin and piano there have been many arrangements for
numerous instruments over the years. Czardas or Hungarian Czardas is a national dance of Hungary
for couples; it is written in simple time and involves forceful syncopated rhythms. The dance starts off
with a slow section called the Lassu and is followed by a fast section called the Friss.
Monti begins his piece at a slow, broad speed marked largo this represents the lassu from the dance. In
the violin (Monti, 2015) recording the notes are very legato and there is a lot of vibrato to add extra
expression, colour and phrasing to the music. In Cambridge Companion to the violin it states that
vibrato was used...as an expressive ornament (Stowell, 1992) and used mainly for long notes at the
end of a phrase. Spohr states that there are three types of vibrato: slow for sustained passionate
melodies; accelerating for

What Is The Charlottetown Conference
The Charlottetown Conference was held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island for representatives
from the colonies of British North America to discuss Canadian Confederation. The conference took
place between September 1 through 7, 1864. The conference had been planned as a meeting of
representatives from the Maritime colonies: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Newfoundland agreed with the movement, but was not notified in time to take part in the proceedings.
[1] Britain encouraged a Maritime Union between these colonies, hoping that they would then become
less economically and politically dependent on the Crown, and provide for greater economic and
military power for the region in light of the American Civil War. However,

Kinesthetic Learners
Once a visual learner sees and understands what is being expected of them to understand, they
sometimes will have to write or draw it. If they are writing or taking
notes, they will either write it in a different color or they will take detailed notes and go back and
highlight the important factors. To help a visual learner organize information they sometimes use a
Mind Map. A mind map guide is centered on the topic and includes branches for each related idea.
Visual learners learn by seeing. When writing and drawing what they are visualizing, this helps them
retain and better process the information being taught. An auditory learner is when a person learns by
speaking and hearing. An auditory learner learns best through lectures. Unlike ... Show more content

Another alternative way of treatment for a learning disability without medicating your child is
discipline. There are a lot of controversies with people spanking their children, but sometimes all a
child need is a very strict schedule to follow on a daily basis or just tough love. The teacher should
also be aligned with the schedule to ensure that the child stays on track. This can teach the child how
to focus and how to deal with difficult situation that life may bring. I would want my child to maintain
their sense of normalcy naturally versus giving them medication to keep them at a zoned (zombie
stage) level. The bottom line is there are other ways to help your child focus in school and outside of
school without giving them

Handmaids
The true measure of a text s value lies in its ability to provoke the reader into awareness of its
language and construction, not just its content
The conceptual understanding of a good text revolves not only around its content, but also its language
and construction. This notion articulates profoundly within Margaret Atwood s novel A Handmaid s
Tale as it is, after all, the author s manipulation of the language and construction which enacts as
vehicles towards the reader s understanding of the content.
A Handmaid s Tale is a confrontational post modern work of feminist dystopian fiction; it depicts a
protagonist s struggle to adapt to a totalitarian and theocratic state where language has become
corrupted.
Without any doubt, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, The Handmaid s Tale is an example of a good text as it provokes the reader into awareness
of the construction of the novel as well as successfully putting forward the point the author tries to
make without making it appear too apparent.
The content, like the construction and language, is an essential device in which put forth the author s
intention of the novel, but in a more direct manner. The main themes held within the content of The
Handmaid s Tale comprise of not just the overall story itself, but also the character and the idea.
The narrator, Offred, is unquestionably the most noteworthy character in the novel where the reader
experiences the world of the Gilead through her eyes. However, the reader is not given an in depth
understanding of what Offred truly is like, as her only description of herself is being thirty three years
old , have brown hair and stand five seven without shoes . Through Offred s vague description of
herself, as well as by mentioning that she has trouble remembering what she look like , suggests the
idea of feminism in which Atwood tries to convey. This is evident through Offred s depiction on the
corruption of language and the non linear construction of her narrative which evokes the restrictions
placed on women, and thus, a perceptible clue which outlines the author s concern to the rights and
identity of women.
Hence, although the content of the novel is easier

The Case of The Regents of the University of California v....
The Regents of the University of California v. Bakke case in 1978 explored the issue surrounding a
young white man s rejection from UC Davis Medical School when students with lower grades than
him were accepted through a minority benefits program. The young man, Allan Bakke, was rejected in
two successive years before filing suit in the Superior Court of Yolo County, arguing that he had to be
accepted to the school since those with grades lower than him had been accepted through the benefits
program. The school claimed that the goal of their minority benefits program was to further diversify
their campus. The program was intended for minority or disadvantaged students, but soon became
entirely racially based, which was evident, since no white students were ever accepted into the
program, regardless of any disadvantaged background they may have had. The school had lower
expectations for the applicants in the benefits program, so some of the students accepted through that
program were less qualified to attend the school than some of those who were rejected through the
regular applicant process. Bakke was one of those rejected applicants, and felt that his rejection was
unconstitutional according to both the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and Title
VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The school argued that they were encouraging diversity and
understanding with the benefits program, but the Superior Court of Yolo County ultimately decided

Oedipus The King Research Paper
Tragedies are events that cause great suffering, distress, and destruction, such as a serious accident,
crime or natural catastrophe. One example of a tragedy is Oedipus The King, written by Sophocles
around 441 B.C. Many events in this tragedy take place and cause the main character, Oedipus, to
reach his downfall. Oedipus intelligence, pursuit of truth, and hot temper all contribute to his
downfall. Oedipus intelligence is one thing that leads to his downfall. When Oedipus first came to
Thebes he had solved the riddle of the sphinx. Because of this, the Priest had come to him and asked
him to help them with the plague that has come to Thebes (39 43). The priest comes to Oedipus
saying, You freed us from the Shinx, you came to Thebes and cut us loose from the bloody tribute we
had paid that harsh, brutal singer (44 46). The village came to Oedipus because they felt that he could
help them. He had helped them before and he could help them again. If Oedipus did not defeat the
sphinx he would not have become king. They would not have found out that he killed King Laius
because they would still be hiding from the Sphinx. He would not have married his mother and the

Essay On The European Economic Crisis
The background to the World and European economic crisis.
The main cause of the 2008 9 financial crisis was caused by the collapse of the housing bubble within
the USA. But the housing bubble was created many years earlier. The Federal Reserve in the early part
of the 2000 s reduced its interest rates down from 6.5% to 1% within four years. This reduction in
rates was applied due to several events happening in the US economy at that time. Firstly the attacks
on the world trade center and the recession experienced had reduced taxes, which left a huge deficit in
the federal budget as well as the expensive attacks into Iraq Afghanistan. The US was also worried
about deflation due to a decline in asset prices, which was forcing companies to ... Show more content

They claimed that even if the borrower defaulted on the mortgage the value of the house was more
than the debt they owed and no losses would be incurred.
However in 2004, the US federal bank began to increase interest rates in order to combat the rise in
inflation, but this policy created a problem later, which led to house prices falling. Soon many
borrowers realized they had mortgages secured against properties worth more than the value of the
property itself. This led to a lot of borrowers defaulting and foreclosures happening which continued
to drive house prices down and in doing so reduced the capital available to financial institutions such
as banks. Also with the re introduction, by the US government bill not used since 1938 called Mark to
Market Accounting in 2007. This law required all financial institutions to report losses before they
occurred. As a result of the introduction of this Bill it caused financial institutions into having to
drastically reduce their capital available as any surpluses would be needed to cover expected losses
and in doing so led to the collapse of investment banks like Lehmann Bros. Equally large insurance
companies such as AIG were also on the verge of bankruptcy and needed bailouts from public taxes.

A Comparison Of Pablo Picasso And Zaha Hadid
Does one ever question what opposition to cultural trends can lead someone? What if they were to
question they type of success that could erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand
unique to no one but yourself? Pablo Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists
within the modernist movement. Both Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation for their success with a
strong educational background. Each artist understood their sheer talent and works would not
contribute to their succession alone. Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand
on a global scale. Building a connection between a consumer and their product, both Picasso and
Hadid knew that their talent and business practices would allow them to convey themselves naturally
in a world immersed with commercialization. Their profound ability to know which patrons
(sponsors) to conduct business with, and proper distribution without flooding the market, allowed
Picasso and Hadid s work to stay in demand.
Born to on October 25, 1881 to Jose Ruiz Blaso, Pablo Picasso did not know that he would become
one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Displaying an extraordinary talent for art at a
young age, Picasso s father (a professor of art) decided to mentor Picasso s passion for the lapiz. With
the death of his sister at age thirteen, his family moved to Barcelona, where his father took a position
in the School of Fine Arts. Pablo s father successfully

The Reality of the Vaginal Orgasm
Unlike the biologically male population, majority of women have difficulty with reaching orgasm
from intercourse alone . It is confusing and frustrating amongst heterosexual couples that seek
mutually conducive sexual experiences and often amounts to self blame and sexual insecurity in the
female counterpart. There are many factors that contribute to producing orgasms, and because of its
multifaceted nature, there are also many factors that can disrupt the production of female orgasms. In
this piece I will focus on reasons that contribute to this difference in frequency between men and
women, which will include: why difficulty of the female orgasm is common, one of the most common
sexual disorders amongst women, and why some women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, women inherit the neural pathways and erectile tissue of the homologous clitoral organ that
are needed to achieve orgasm. But because there lacks selection pressure for female orgasms, they are
underdeveloped in female mammals. This lack of selection pressure results in a vast variability of
factors pertaining to female orgasm, including the ease and occurrence of orgasm.
Because female orgasm is defined in this way more so as a capacity for an ability rather than an
outcome of sexual reflex (like the male orgasm), there is no particular natural or common orgasm. It
seems as though the accepted normal has become close to the consistent reflex type orgasm of males.
This skews the perspective when approaching the topic of female orgasm and the question then
becomes something along the lines of, How can I make my orgasm like my partner s? : consistent,
reliable, and at the baseline existent. If a female has a lack of or lacking orgasms in comparison and
feels consequential distress, she may look for a cure to the medically termed dysfunction , which then
implies that she is unnatural (Master Johnson, 1966). This term has stuck, however and sexual
disorder is the umbrella, medical term for the common sexual complaints amongst men and women.
They have been categorized as follows: (1) loss of sexual desire; (2) inadequate mental or genital

Essay on Response to Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Response to Self Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson
I believe that, essentially, life consists of a series of choices. A grouping of these choices in one
direction or another makes us who we are, and ultimately we have control over our lives. What makes
one person different from another is his own set of choices. When going through life s motions, we
develop certain worldviews and ideas and values to live by. We develop an opinion of what makes a
person great. In the well known essay Self Reliance , Ralph Waldo Emerson provides a beautiful way
of approaching these choices, and he reveals a very inspiring set of values centralized around going
through life answering only to yourself. I love the way Emerson evaluates the society we live ... Show

I share this view of society with Emerson: Society is a joint stock company, in which the members
agree, for the better securing of his bread to each shareholder, to surrender the liberty and culture of
the eater. The virtue of request is conformity. Self Reliance is its aversion.
In everything that I do I decide to go the road less traveled, I make the choice to see something in a
different way than everyone else. I choose not to wear the same clothes as most people do, I choose to
always say what is on my mind and I try my hardest to not let what people may think of me interfere
with what I say I and do. I consider myself a non conformist for these reasons. Even when it comes to
culture: I would much prefer the independent, locally owned video shop where I can find obscure
movies to the gigantic Blockbuster. I don t choose to listen to Popular music or buy the CD s of artists
being shoved down our throats by MTV. I choose to find my own flavor, to disregard the
overwhelming majority to the best of my ability. My feelings go along with Emerson s again in Self
Reliance : A man is to carry himself in the presence of all opposition, as if every thing were titular and
ephemeral but he. Continuing on the subject of conformity Emerson provides the famous line: Whoso
would be a man must be a nonconformist. Stressing again the view of answering only

What Are The Causes Of Desmoid Tumors
The most common causes linked to desmoid tumors are genetics. Parents pass on the inherited gene
called beta catenin to the offspring. Another form of this mutated genes causing this condition are
associated with familial adenomatous polyposis is an inherited form of colon cancer.
In some cases, the tumor does occur randomly with no association to genetics or other existing health
conditions. These forms are described as sporadic and generally don t spread to other parts of the
body, unlike an aggressive fibromatosis condition also referred to as desmoid tumors outside the
abdomen.
The high levels of hormones during pregnancy raise the risks desmoid tumors. In this stance, the cause
of the tumor is a result of the abdominal wall expanding to accommodate the developing fetus. Other
causes of these tumors during pregnancy are linked to the excessive amounts of hormonal changes

Discuss drawing from readings and research about various forms of political engagement.
Since the beginning of European colonization in 1788, Aboriginal people have experienced
displacement, have been the targets of genocidal policies and practices, and have had families
destroyed through the forcible removal of children. Decades of colonial exploitation and a prolonged
systematic attempt to destroy Aboriginal people and culture have led to legislations and policies that

Aboriginal people did not have access to amenities, such as cinemas, hotels, cafés and swimming
pools, and suffered prejudice and suspicion as well as verbal and sometimes physical abuse (**). In
the town of Walgett they decided to picket the Walgett Returned Service League Club (RSL) as a
protest against the treatment of Aboriginal people. The media covered the Walgett RSL protest. The
central role of the film camera in this campaign demonstrated the growing sophistication of activists
who recognized the need to show city dwellers what was happening in country towns. Also captured
on tape was the vice president of the RSL who said he would never allow an Aboriginal to become a
member (Curthoys, 2011, 12). Such evidence was beamed into the living rooms of Australians with
the evening news and exposed an endemic racism. This film footage shocked city viewers and added
to the mounting pressure on the government.
The legacy of the Freedom Ride political action was a greater awareness of Aboriginal issues in a rural
context. Perkins and his fellow students had successfully stirred up debate and sparked discussion
around Australia on the state of Aboriginal affairs. Awakening media interest in Aboriginal affairs was
positioned in favor of the Black Australian cause, to the severe embarrassment of many white
townspeople in rural New South Wales. In the ensuing public debate, urban public knowledge of racial
discrimination grew, some

When I first found out that Orlando based pop band Before You Exit had never signed a record deal
until last month, I was absolutely shocked. Although their line up has changed quite a bit over the
years, Before You Exit has been producing music and touring all over the world since their formation
in 2007. However, this formation was more of a natural coming together, as the group consists of
brothers Connor McDonough (21), Riley McDonough (19), and Toby McDonough (17). On Saturday,

Characterisation Of The Father And Son In Cormac...
4. Discuss how one novel you have studied constructs complex characters to represent complex ideas.
The use of characterisation in a text can be used to represent complex ideas. Cormac McCarthy s 2006
novel, The Road, follows the journey of a man and son that face several events that challenge their
humanity in order to survive the post apocalyptic America. By studying the characterisation of the
father and son in The Road, it is revealed that complex ideas are represented. Readers may find that
the existentialist ideas of death and violence being unavoidable, love able to be shown through
actions, every decision having both rewards and repercussions and when humans are put in extreme or
difficult situations, core values and beliefs may be abandoned, are promoted through the actions and
thoughts of the characters. These ideas are developed especially through the four main events in the
novel through the use of dark imagery and descriptive language.
Death and violence are unavoidable and we must find purpose in life with the acceptance of this fact.
Throughout the novel, the father and son are forced to react to several events where this idea is evident
and promoted. Although the father is characterised as logical and morally conflicted, he prioritises the
boy s safety. This is revealed through some of the main events that occur in the novel, such as when
the duo encounter a man struck by lightning and on the verge of death. Despite his son s pleas to help
the man, the

any other MS and she is entitled to be registered with National Authority of Zoos (NAZ) the
regulation should have been applied by UK by December 2012 and by the facts given it it indicates
that UK government did not do the transposition properly therefore it will be safe to say that the time
of transpose has passed thus satisfying second condition and EU regulation can be enforced like the
case of Pubblico Ministero v Rotti 148/78 [7] principle where the date of implementation has passed

Indian Colonies Under British Rule
Colonies under European rule manifested in two main forms: extractive colonies that were a way for
colonisers to both access a new market and extract resources as they saw fit and civilising missions
that attempted to bring Western norms and values to indigenous people under the guise of religion
alongside a notion of local culture being savage. At times there were also conflicts between colonising
powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the other. India was once
part of the British Empire and despite being a thriving nation today, it has had a number of laws
imposed on it both during colonization and globalization that have had significant social, economic
and political impact. One of the main consequences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marriage in Britain was a largely independent affari compared to India where, once married, the wife
would proceed to live with her husband and his family. The consequence of changes to inheritance law
was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager inheritance she got and
enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new husband, in India things got far
more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage and widowhood that hinged on
unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were to receive money under the change
in law there would be significant resentment from her late husband s family. The widow had a high
chance of still living with his family resulting in a cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and
autonomy were often controlled by the families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of
preserving caste and offspring. Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more
often than not, there was a lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most
widows as the deeply rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . Thus slowly,
almost as a reaction to the British hijacking on Indian culture and law, customary laws began to be
replaced by a far more Hindu

Women And The Spartan Women
Throughout ancient human history, men and women held vastly different roles. Women were often
given the duty of bearing and raising children, whereas men were expected to fight, provide an
income, and protect the household. Women were seen as totally inferior to men and described by
Euripedes as a curse to mankind and a plague worse than fire or any viper. However, this misogynistic
view of women and designated role of inferiority was not apparent in every ancient civilization. The
role of the female in ancient Greek history can best be explored and contrasted between two important
civilizations: The Spartans and the Athenians. The Spartan women were incredibly advanced for their
time, and the Athenian women were drastically far behind. Both the Spartan and Athenian women held
roles at home and lived lives far removed from the men of their societies. However, their lives were
much different. While the Spartan women were strong and educated, the Athenian women held a
status almost equal to slavery. The Spartan women were far more advanced than Athenians in aspects
of life including education, athleticism, and independence. In no other city state did women enjoy the
same freedom and status as Spartan women. As a military driven society, the Spartans realized that
regardless of gender all Spartiates had an obligation to serve the militaristic end of Sparta. With this
focus in mind, women were allowed more freedom, rights, and independence. Spartan women were

A Crucifixion Outside The City Of Jerusalem
This painting depicts a crucifixion outside the city of Jerusalem, discernible by the centrally planned
church and rounded red rotunda in the background of the city. Rounded structures that resemble
towers align the walls of the city, another definitive element of the biblical city. Although the painting
clearly represents an idealized Jerusalem, it emulates a contemporary European town of the Northern
Renaissance age, with Gothic architecture and what resembles shops at the front of the city. The
painter also depicts the mountainous terrain of Jerusalem, but portrays greenery that the actual desert
city would not have. The contemporary background makes the painting less abstract and more
relatable to the viewer. The overall composition of the painting is naturalistic: emphasized by the light
and shadow on the figures, the use of three dimensions, and the additional details in the clothes of the
figures. The body on the cross demonstrates the most amount of modeling. The face and legs of the
person are covered by shadow, while the light hits the left side of the body at the chest the most. Also,
there is an attention to showcasing three dimensions: the objects towards the back of the painting get
smaller, while the objects in the front are larger. The three dimensions frame the picture, and create a
sense of directly looking into the scene from a front viewer. Lastly, the folding and drapery of the
clothing accentuate the naturalism of the painting by looking similar to

Summary Of 1 And 2 Kings By Jeremiah
The books of 1 and 2 Kings were written by Jeremiah who lived around 627 BC. The books were
written with messages of repentance, but these messages were not received well as his hometown
persecuted him. Kings was written to the Israelites trying to explain their fate. The book is more of a
warning because of the peoples abandonment of their faith, or apostasy. Jeremiah wants the people to
be restored to the days when David ruled Israel. The Old Testament in general is filled with prophecy
and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The book of 1 Kings gives this message in the form of
lessons, metaphors and other interpretations. In this passage Elijah went into a cave to take shelter
from the harsh weather. Elijah had just walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of Horeb or
the mountain of God. He took this journey because he was fleeing Jezebel who was trying to have
Elijah murdered because of his faith. While in the cave Elijah heard the Lord speaking to him. The
Lord told Elijah to walk out of the cave after Elijah presented his worries to God. Elijah quickly
noticed that he could not hear the Lord in the wind or earthquake or fire. Rather, Elijah could hear the
Lord as a whispering sound. Elijah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this use of metaphor can be seen in verse 11 of chapter 19 in 1 Kings, Then the LORD
said: Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD (1 Kings 19:11). To stand before the LORD
means, not literally to stand, but to lessen yourself in the presence of God. This metaphor means to
serve the Lord, or being a servant of God. Standing before God is being vulnerable, honest and open,
letting God work in you. This means allowing God in your life. For Elijah this was alluding to him
returning to Damascus and appointing new kings of Israel and Aram. In this passage God is telling
Elijah to trust in Him and have faith, that His plans are above all other

Persuasive Essay On School Security
Over the past decade, school safety has become a major issue. This issue became relevant after the
Columbine High School massacre in 1999. It was a terrible shock that hit the nation. Since then,
school shootings have become much more of threat. Then, in 2012, a gunman entered the Sandy Hook
Elementary school and created mass hysteria. Since this attack, schools across the nation have been
trying to step up security. These different security tactics have come in many different ways. Some
schools increased their security team, while others installed new alarms. Most schools have been
practicing school intruder drills. Our school is starting to use ID cards. This ID card must be worn at
all times and be clearly visible. The card simply is a picture, name, and barcode. However, is
implementing this form of security really necessary? There are many other tactics that should be used
in place of these ID cards. As the new year started, we were given ID cards. Although everyone was
given an ID, the school doesn t enforce the visibility of them. Some students do not even wear the
card. Even though it is a simple lanyard, it becomes a hassle to remember. In a school where there are
not that many students, the school officials generally know everyone or at least their face. There is no
point of wearing an ID card. Instead of wearing an ID card the school should first lock every door and
window from the ground up. Secondly, the school should increase the

Principle Component Analysis ( Pca )
PCA model Principle component analysis (PCA) is often used to reduce the dimensionality of a data
set, and the reduced data can then explain most of the variance within the original data (Guo, Wang
Louie, 2004). The main function of the PCA is to convert a number of interrelated variables into a
smaller set of independent variables. The new independent variables which are called principal
components (PCs). They are the linear combinations of the original variables (Jackson J.E., 2005).
The PCA model can be expressed as (Miller et al., 2002): Z_ik=∑_(j=1)^p▒〖G_ij H_jk 〗
i=1,2,...,m;k=1,2,...,n (1) Where: G_ij= the correlation of compound i with factor j H_jk= the relative
impact of jth factor for the total contaminant of the kth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standardization of the original data before the PCA can help us better understand how the variables
influence the analysis (Thurston Spengler, 1985). Before applying the standardized data to the PCA,
the outliers should be excluded. A sensitivity analysis should be done to determine the outliers which
should be removed. The suspected outliers should be removed from the data set one at a time until the
PCA reaches a stable result and the further exclusion of the samples has very little effect on the PCA
results (Swietlicki et al., 1996). Outputs The output of the PCA based on Matlab includes the
following: coeff file, score file, latent file, tsquared file, and the explained file. The coeff file is a
matrix of the principal component coefficients, or we can call them loadings. If the input matrix is n
by p, then the coefficient matrix should be p by p. The columns of the coefficient matrix represent the
principal components, and the columns are placed in descending order according to the component
variance. The score file gives us a matrix of the principal component score which represents the input
matrix in the new principal component space. The score file represents the projection of the

that while they may speak convincingly, their skills as pundits lie in their ability... to learn quickly

The prohibition of drugs such as cocaine, opium, and marijuana is rooted in the racism and
xenophobia of the people of the United States. It was believed that cocaine consumption by the black
community could make them disregard the barriers that society had established between different
races , while Chinese were portrayed as assiduous opium smokers and Mexicans were labeled as avid
marihuana smokers (Recio 2002; 23,24). These faulty conceptions of the minorities in the United
States resulted in a new perception...that drug consumption could not be morally accepted and
therefore its use should be seriously restricted (Recio 2002; 24). Medical professionals in the United
States were strongly opposed to an all out ban of these drugs, but eventually the United States
congress passed the Harrison Act. This act was initially designed to limit the availability of these
narcotics by requiring a prescription from a physician to obtain them. Later, United States congress
passed the Volstead Act, which prohibited alcohol. In 1922 the Harrison Act became a totally
prohibitionist piece of legislation (Recio 2002; 25, 26). Immediately after the Harrison Act and the
Volstead Acts were passed, illegal drug traffickers took the place of physicians in providing narcotics
to the people who wanted them (Recio 2002; 26). In order to prevent this, the United States
government decided that if the country producing drugs

with the assumption of a fixed desktop usage. Dr. Klienrock expresses his concern about no

Essay about Minority and majority rights
The rights of many people versus the rights of an individual is certainly a vexing concept. Like a
delicate balancing act; if one side is favoured over the other it causes a rift in the already strained
relationship between the minority and majority. Evidently, the justification of taking any side must be
valid, according to the theories of H.L.A. Hart. In the past, Canadian law has violated the rights of
minorities; however, these violations have decreased in their severity as time has passed on. Some
cases where the balance between minority and majority rights is questioned is in The Canadian Indian
Residential School System, Bill 101, Equality in the Workplace and The Public Service Act.
To begin, Aboriginal rights have, historically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Act was amended for the first time in 1885, the amendment prohibited religious practices and
traditional dances. The validity of these laws is questionable. According to H.L.A. Hart s philosophies:
these measures were not valid. Laws are to protect society from exploitation and violence of the weak
and vulnerable; instead children were taken out of their homes and forced into a new strange
environment where they were likely abused. One of Hart s theories says that: for a law to be valid,
rules should be obeyed because they make sense, not because of the fear of punishment. In these
residential schools the Children were forced to dress, speak and act in a European manner they would
receive harsh punishments otherwise; clearly, this is not valid. It was a serious violation of human
rights for a minority group in the human population. Canada has recognized this and in 2007 a 1.9
billion dollar compensation package was put together for those who attended residential schools; a
formal apology was also delivered by Stephen Harper to residential school students in 2008.
Therefore, Canada has severely violated the rights of the Aboriginal minority in the interest to
assimilate them into Canadian society; the mistake was recognized and compensation was given. It is
no secret that French English relations in Canada have been strained in the past and still are albeit to a
lesser extent.

The British North America Act Of 1867
The British North America Act of 1867 and the subsequent Indian Act of 1876 gave the Canadian
government, under prime minster John A. Macdonald, full control over the nation s Aboriginal people.
The government used this power to establish boarding schools for Aboriginal children. An estimated
144 residential schools operated at different times between the late 1800s and 1996 throughout
Canada. These schools were established with the purpose to enhance assimilation of Aboriginal
children into the Canadian culture of British and French heritage. However, despite these misguided
government attempts lasting more than a century, the Aboriginal culture and civilization could not be
eradicated, and the residential school system as originally conceived proved to be a failure.
Residential schools were religious custodial schools established after 1880 by the Canadian
government in partnership with churches. Through next half century, a system of residential schools
stretching across country developed. The Roman Catholic church ran 3/5 of residential schools, the
Anglican church ¼, and the United and Presbyterian churches controlled the rest. Under the BNAAct
and Indian Acts, the government was responsible for providing Aboriginals with an education as well
as integrating them into Canadian society. Aboriginal leaders also wanted Euro Canadian schooling

Lucy, the Gem of Ethiopia
Introduction
As humans we strive to learn about our past, present, and future. It doesn t matter where you live or
who you are; you have that urge, that indescribable feeling, to know who you are and where you came
from. The best place and probably the most well known place to discover the past is Africa, which
harbors one of the biggest archaeology sites in the world the Great Rift Valley. Archaeology in Africa
is divided into two groups. One is the study of ancient civilizations like Egypt or the Mali Empire. The
other is finding human origins and how we evolved from primitive mammals. We have fossil records
of humans that date back millions of years which tell us of ancient humans and our evolution to
become homo sapiens. The most famous of these pre humans is Lucy or Dinkenesh which is the
Ethiopian word for she is wonderful.
Who is Lucy?
Named after the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky without Diamonds, Lucy is an ancient, fossil of
australopithecus afarensis, one of our predecessors. Lucy is 40% of fossilized skeleton of a three foot
six, fifty pound female who roamed the Great Rift Valley 3.2 million years ago. Lucy s male
counterparts were 5 feet and around 105 pounds. This difference in size between the males and
females is called sexual dimorphism and it happens in a lot of ancient and modern animals. Lucy was
found in Hadar (a dig site) 217 miles away from Addis Ababa the capital of Ethiopia. Donald

The Origins Of Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The profession of counseling has a rich and bold history, evolving through the years from varied
disciplines and birthing diverse specialties and branches along the way. Often referred to as the
youngest of the counseling specialties is clinical mental health counseling. Despite physical health s
grasp on the nation, mental health has been a major focus at various times throughout history and
continues to become an ever growing concern for people in general. As people come to better
understand mental health issues and the demand for services grows, it is important to look at how
clinical mental health counseling, and the counseling profession in general, has developed over time
and how it has advanced to meet the needs of those seeking services.
Origins in the United States
The origins of clinical mental health counseling are best explained through an understanding of the
counseling profession as a whole. From its start, counseling was interdisciplinary, evolving from such
disciplines including but not limited to anthropology, education, ethics, history, law, medical sciences,
philosophy, psychology, and sociology (Gladding, 2013, p. 3) . As people began to experience adverse
effects to their lives due to the circumstances of the Industrial Revolution, it was apparent that help
was needed, sparking humanitarian work and the beginnings of counseling. By the early 1900s people
began to take notice of the counseling profession in the form of the progressive guidance

Colonial Rule Of Independence And Independence
At independence, all states have the option to retain or abolish appeal to the JCPC. Assuming that a
colony s goal at independence is to free itself from the colonial power s control, why would a state
decide to retain a colonial institution that is an important to the POGG of an independent state? I posit
that states desire a final appellate court that is likely to uphold and legitimize the policies of the nation
s governing elite. The length and type of colonial rule influence the national governing elite s decision
about the final appellate court at independence. Some states that retain the right of appeal to an
extraterritorial court at independence later abolish the right, while others continue to allow appeals to
this extraterritorial court. This mutability raises two additional questions. First, why do we see
variations in the length of time some states retained those ties after independence? Second, why do
some states ultimately decide to abolish appeals to the JCPC and establish a domestic ultimate appeals
court? I posit that states that retain appeals to the JCPC at independence may later decide to abolish
appeals if they perceive a divergence between the state s policies and the JCPC that reduces the
likelihood that the JCPC will uphold and legitimize the state s policies. A disconnect between the
decisions of the JCPC and the state s policies may emerge over time, leading the governing national
coalition to take steps to abolish that right of appeal.

The Free funds market is also known as the Transfer or Convertible market: This market has been
promoted by the strict controls that exist in the official market and the transparency issue on duties. It

The forex for all prohibited goods brought into the country may also have this market as its source. It

Most foreign exchange earners (with low corporate/individual compliance commitments) supply funds

Church In The Canterbury Tales
Canterbury is an English cathedral city which was a popular pilgrimage site in the
Medieval Era. However, in the Middle Ages, the members of the clergy did not always live up to their
lofty expectations and standards. The Church s credibility, at this time, was diminishing due to the
actions of its officials. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, took this pilgrimage and
along the way met a few of these questionable clerical figures. During the
General Prologue of the work, Chaucer provides a comical representation of all the characters he
meets on his journey. His description of clerical members, such as the Monk, criticize their actions and
interests. In addition to the Monk, he meets a nun with questionable morals and a deceitful, selfish
friar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of the Nun relaxing on this principle exhibits the decline of the Church s credibility. In
addition to her lax fashion choices, the Nun spoils herself in her diet. Similar to monks, nuns
maintained a very strict lifestyle. Chaucer s Nun fails to abide with this minimalist culture when it
comes to food.
Chaucer describes her as by no means undergown which insinuates that she is not a dainty woman like
her peers (GP 160). Nuns, like monks, also prohibited the donning of jewelry or other items personal
items. Once again, the Nun fails to observe this ideal and proceeds to bear a glaring brooch on her
clothing (GP 164). In addition to this, Chaucer observes, She wore a coral trinket on her arm which
further defies the monastic code (162). Furthermore, the Nun is by no means an upstanding member of
the medieval clerical community. Chaucer s portrayal of the Nun as a immoral and pompous figure
further aids the argument of the Church s hypocrisy.
Continuing the themes of hypocrisy and corruption, Chaucer s Friar contradicts his divine position
with his deceitful actions towards society. He exploits his position in order to get

Analysis Of I Would Like About Tyler Perry Whose Career...

by his faith. He was named the highest paid man in entertainment by Forbes in 2011 having earned

physically abused by his father and sexually abused by a woman in his neighborhood at the age of

haven and contentment. Although he did not finish high school he was inspired to write by seeing
someone on the Oprah Winfrey Show talking about the therapeutic effect that writing gives a person.
He started writing a series of letters to himself which would eventually become the basis for the
musical I Know I ve Been Changed which was successfully performed in 1998. Using comedy to tell
the story, the play focused on how the two adult protagonists overcame the horrors of their lives by
their profound belief in God. However, before this success Perry was in Atlanta, Georgia and had used
up all of his savings and became homeless. For a period of six years in the 1990 s, he was living in his

Similarities Between Charles And Ray Eames
My Project 3 booklet is Charles and Ray Eames. I chose the first moodboard. It was my favorite one.
Images are big and bleed to the edge of the pages. I liked big letters that break the colums, and I also
liked the grids how they used. For my own project, I wanted to fill the page with a picture, but pictures
have low resolution, so I changed my plan to scale down all the images and wrote the quotation on top
of the images to break the grid like my mood board. I tried to use limited colors, but it was not easy to
make them same colors because the background of the images have different colors. I removed
background of few images, and changed colors. Charles and Ray Eames s works feel like rounded and
heavy, so I chose typeface is ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std(bold) for title. I wanted to use different
typeface for The work of, so I chose InaiMathi. Because the title is san serif, I chose serif Minion Pro

The Three Patriarchs In The Book Of Genesis
Many readers of Genesis might think God s relationships with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be the
most significant in the entire book. These three patriarchs are, in fact, very important because they
accept and preserve the covenant and pass it on to their future generations. However, Joseph makes his
relationship with God more unique and current by living out the covenant with other human beings
and not solely with God. When readers only focus on the other patriarchs relationships as the most
important interactions, they fail to recognize Joseph transferring the covenant from a God to human
relationship, to a relationship between humans. This essay will show how Genesis portrays Joseph as a
patriarch who acts out God s will for humans. Joseph s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 27 of Genesis, Jacob fools Isaac and takes Esau s blessing. This act of deception by Jacob is
done for selfish gain. He does not trust God s plan for him. God does not instantly correct Jacob,
however, in chapter 32 God battles with Jacob to restore his faith, And he saw that he had not won out
against him and he touched his hip socket and Jacob s hip socket was wrenched as he wrestled him .
Here Jacob is converted by God because he did not have faith in God s plan for him. He is also being
affected because of his dishonesty. Jacob s relationship with God can be viewed as a struggle from the
wrestling match moreover, Jacob s new name is Israel, which means one who struggles with God .
Joseph on the other hand does not quarrel with God because his relationship with God is reliable and
hopeful. When Joseph finally reveals his true identity he explains that he followed God s plan, And,
now do not be pained and do not be incensed with yourselves that you sold me down here, because for
sustenance God has sent me before you...And God has sent me before you to make you a remnant on
earth and to preserve life, for you to be a great surviving group . As he addresses his brothers, Joseph
tells them not to be angry because he was hopeful of God s intentions. Joseph is different from Jacob
and the other patriarchs because he does not aggravate God

Amazon s Mechanical Turk ( M Turk ) Essay
Introduction The present study was an initial test for an online version of the road salting task. There
was a potential concern that the advantage of numeric uncertainty was only restricted to population
that had always been used as participants: young adults with some college education. Would other
populations benefit from numeric uncertainty information as well? Additionally, all previous data had
been collected in a laboratory setting with an experimenter monitoring task progress and preventing
any outside distractions. Indeed, relative to traditional laboratory environment, many aspects of the
online testing environment are not under the experimenter s control. Participants could be distracted
by simultaneously completing other online tasks or attending to other aspects of their environment. It
is unsurprising that unsupervised subjects tend to be less attentive than subjects in a lab with an
experimenter (Oppenheimer, Meyvis, Davidenko, 2009). Would this affect road salting responses? The
online testing environment used for this project was Amazon s Mechanical Turk (M Turk). The M
Turk is a platform for thousands of response tasks covering a wide range of topics. Respondents
complete tasks for small monetary rewards. Evidence suggests that M Turk samples are reliable and
reasonably representative of the general public and data quality does not seem affected by payment
amount (Buhrmester, Kwang, Gosling, 2011; Mason Watts, 2009; Paolacci, Chandler, Ipeirotis,

Windy City Research Paper
Welcome to the Windy City
Chicago, Illinois is well known to be the home of many shootings, and other heinous crimes.
However, Chicago isn t always plagued by sadness, and bullets; it also has some amazing traits.
Chicago is made up of 234 square miles of dazzling buildings that look as though they go upwards for
miles accompanied by a beautiful skyline that never seems to end; fun places to visit, and exquisite
food. This classy city of almost three million people is surprisingly most known for its messy deep
dish pizza and loaded Chicago style hot dogs (What is Chicago known for).
There are so many different types of food; from Chinese to Italian, from 4 star restaurants to street
vendors, but what makes the food in Chicago so worth it? The city of Chicago is the home to some of

With reasonable temperatures in the daytime and cooling nights, fall in Chicago is the ideal trip. The
trees in parks and forests light the city on fire with the fiery reds, bold oranges, and exciting yellows.
The thought of being able to stroll leisurely down a sidewalk, taking pictures of the beauty that would
surround me sets fire to my creativity. I love fall colors and smells, the autumn season sends every one
of my senses into frenzy. From the smells of coffee that people are drinking, to the sounds of laughter,
and chittering teeth from people who didn t dress warmly enough. Seeing lovers hurriedly walking
hand in hand, trying to get out of the chilly weather, and the drip of the last night s rain as it slips from
the leaves, you can even taste the air, and how crisp it is. Though by late October and early November,
temperatures start to drop, and nights can be fairly brisk, I wouldn t mind. Personally I like the way
the cold turns my nose red, and makes me feel as though I can t breathe, and with every inhale my
insides seem to freeze, just to be warmed by a cup of hot chocolate, or

Orangeburg Massacre Essay
Eventually, the occurrence of the Orangeburg Massacre led to the racial integration of Orangeburg and
many other parts of South Carolina. If the Orangeburg Massacre had not occurred, South Carolina
might not have become the racially equal society it is today. However, not everybody agreed with the
change that was being brought as a result of the event. Many caucasians at the time attempted to cover
the incident up, and to blame whatever could not be hidden on the protesters. Nevertheless, civil rights
protesters were not going to let the killing of their fellow pupils be in vain. The students of
Orangeburg demanded the punishment of highway patrolmen and other law enforcers on scene the
night of the massacre. They wished to see the officers punished to the fullest extent of the law so that
justice could be served to the families of the three young men who were killed (Pulaski 10). But, as an
attempt to hide the massacre, many white owned newspaper companies either simply refused to report
the event, or blamed the massacre on the protesters that participated that night (3 Negroes 1). A
skirmish line of highway patrolmen and city police returned the fire of demonstrating college students
last night (3 Negroes 1). After a scant two weeks, no white owned newspaper business covered the
event at all.
However, African American and civil rights supportive newspapers refused to give up. The New York
Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Charlotte Observer covered the shootings,

  • 2. The Interpretation Of Tempo, Dynamics And Expression... The interpretation of Tempo, Dynamics and Expression through Instrumentation in three recordings of Vittorio Monti s Czardas Vittorio Monti s famous virtuosic piece Czardas has been arranged for many instruments over the years. Being a percussionist and having played this piece I was interested in how this piece would vary in terms of tempo, dynamics and expression due to instrumentation. I chose to compare three recordings: one by violinist Frank Kim accompanied by piano as this represents the piece as it was originally written for piano and violin. Frank Kim performs it with a lot of expression and extremes of dynamic and tempo more typical of the romantic period; The Horseholm Percussion and Marimba Ensemble which used similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Italian composer Vittorio Monti was born in 1868 in Naples. He attended the Conservatoire of San Pietro a Majella where he studied composition and violin, as well as playing mandolin. When he was in his thirty s he was asked to conduct in Paris for the Lamourex Orchestra, during this period Monti composed a number of operas and ballets such as Noel de Pierrot. In 1904 he wrote what is probably his most famous piece, Czardas, which he based on the Hungarian folk dance called Csardas. Although originally composed for solo violin and piano there have been many arrangements for numerous instruments over the years. Czardas or Hungarian Czardas is a national dance of Hungary for couples; it is written in simple time and involves forceful syncopated rhythms. Newfoundland agreed with the movement, but was not notified in time to take part in the proceedings. Handmaids The true measure of a text s value lies in its ability to provoke the reader into awareness of its language and construction, not just its content The conceptual understanding of a good text revolves not only around its content, but also its language and construction. Therefore, The Handmaid s Tale is an example of a good text as it provokes the reader into awareness of the construction of the novel as well as successfully putting forward the point the author tries to make without making it appear too apparent. The content, like the construction and language, is an essential device in which put forth the author s intention of the novel, but in a more direct manner. The main themes held within the content of The Handmaid s Tale comprise of not just the overall story itself, but also the character and the idea. The narrator, Offred, is unquestionably the most noteworthy character in the novel where the reader experiences the world of the Gilead through her eyes. However, the reader is not given an in depth understanding of what Offred truly is like, as her only description of herself is being thirty three years old , have brown hair and stand five seven without shoes . Through Offred s vague description of herself, as well as by mentioning that she has trouble remembering what she look like , suggests the idea of feminism in which Atwood tries to convey. Bakke case in 1978 explored the issue surrounding a young white man s rejection from UC Davis Medical School when students with lower grades than him were accepted through a minority benefits program. The young man, Allan Bakke, was rejected in two successive years before filing suit in the Superior Court of Yolo County, arguing that he had to be accepted to the school since those with grades lower than him had been accepted through the benefits program. The school claimed that the goal of their minority benefits program was to further diversify their campus. The program was intended for minority or disadvantaged students, but soon became entirely racially based, which was evident, since no white students were ever accepted into the program, regardless of any disadvantaged background they may have had. The school had lower expectations for the applicants in the benefits program, so some of the students accepted through that program were less qualified to attend the school than some of those who were rejected through the regular applicant process. Bakke was one of those rejected applicants, and felt that his rejection was unconstitutional according to both the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The school argued that they were encouraging diversity and understanding with the benefits program, but the Superior Court of Yolo County ultimately decided that the ... • 9. A Comparison Of Pablo Picasso And Zaha Hadid Does one ever question what opposition to cultural trends can lead someone? What if they were to question they type of success that could erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand unique to no one but yourself? Pablo Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists within the modernist movement. Both Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation for their success with a strong educational background. Each artist understood their sheer talent and works would not contribute to their succession alone. Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand on a global scale. Building a connection between a consumer and their product, both Picasso and Hadid knew that their talent and business practices would allow them to convey themselves naturally in a world immersed with commercialization. Their profound ability to know which patrons (sponsors) to conduct business with, and proper distribution without flooding the market, allowed Picasso and Hadid s work to stay in demand. But because there lacks selection pressure for female orgasms, they are underdeveloped in female mammals. This lack of selection pressure results in a vast variability of factors pertaining to female orgasm, including the ease and occurrence of orgasm. Because female orgasm is defined in this way more so as a capacity for an ability rather than an outcome of sexual reflex (like the male orgasm), there is no particular natural or common orgasm. It seems as though the accepted normal has become close to the consistent reflex type orgasm of males. This skews the perspective when approaching the topic of female orgasm and the question then becomes something along the lines of, How can I make my orgasm like my partner s? : consistent, reliable, and at the baseline existent. A grouping of these choices in one direction or another makes us who we are, and ultimately we have control over our lives. What makes one person different from another is his own set of choices. When going through life s motions, we develop certain worldviews and ideas and values to live by. We develop an opinion of what makes a person great. In everything that I do I decide to go the road less traveled, I make the choice to see something in a different way than everyone else. I choose not to wear the same clothes as most people do, I choose to always say what is on my mind and I try my hardest to not let what people may think of me interfere with what I say I and do. I consider myself a non conformist for these reasons. Even when it comes to culture: I would much prefer the independent, locally owned video shop where I can find obscure movies to the gigantic Blockbuster. I don t choose to listen to Popular music or buy the CD s of artists being shoved down our throats by MTV. I choose to find my own flavor, to disregard the overwhelming majority to the best of my ability. The use of characterisation in a text can be used to represent complex ideas. Cormac McCarthy s 2006 novel, The Road, follows the journey of a man and son that face several events that challenge their humanity in order to survive the post apocalyptic America. By studying the characterisation of the father and son in The Road, it is revealed that complex ideas are represented. Women were seen as totally inferior to men and described by Euripedes as a curse to mankind and a plague worse than fire or any viper. However, this misogynistic view of women and designated role of inferiority was not apparent in every ancient civilization. The role of the female in ancient Greek history can best be explored and contrasted between two important civilizations: The Spartans and the Athenians. The painter also depicts the mountainous terrain of Jerusalem, but portrays greenery that the actual desert city would not have. The contemporary background makes the painting less abstract and more relatable to the viewer. The overall composition of the painting is naturalistic: emphasized by the light and shadow on the figures, the use of three dimensions, and the additional details in the clothes of the figures. The body on the cross demonstrates the most amount of modeling. The face and legs of the person are covered by shadow, while the light hits the left side of the body at the chest the most. Also, there is an attention to showcasing three dimensions: the objects towards the back of the painting get smaller, while the objects in the front are larger. The three dimensions frame the picture, and create a sense of directly looking into the scene from a front viewer. Lastly, the folding and drapery of the clothing accentuate the naturalism of the painting by looking similar to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The books were written with messages of repentance, but these messages were not received well as his hometown persecuted him. Kings was written to the Israelites trying to explain their fate. The book is more of a warning because of the peoples abandonment of their faith, or apostasy. Jeremiah wants the people to be restored to the days when David ruled Israel. The Old Testament in general is filled with prophecy and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The book of 1 Kings gives this message in the form of lessons, metaphors and other interpretations. In this passage Elijah went into a cave to take shelter from the harsh weather. Elijah had just walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of Horeb or the mountain of God. He took this journey because he was fleeing Jezebel who was trying to have Elijah murdered because of his faith. While in the cave Elijah heard the Lord speaking to him. Standing before God is being vulnerable, honest and open, letting God work in you. This means allowing God in your life. • 27. Persuasive Essay On School Security Over the past decade, school safety has become a major issue. This issue became relevant after the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. It was a terrible shock that hit the nation. Since then, school shootings have become much more of threat. Then, in 2012, a gunman entered the Sandy Hook Elementary school and created mass hysteria. Since this attack, schools across the nation have been trying to step up security. These different security tactics have come in many different ways. Some schools increased their security team, while others installed new alarms. Most schools have been practicing school intruder drills. Our school is starting to use ID cards. This ID card must be worn at all times and be clearly visible. The card simply is a picture, name, and barcode. However, is implementing this form of security really necessary? There are many other tactics that should be used in place of these ID cards. As the new year started, we were given ID cards. Although everyone was given an ID, the school doesn t enforce the visibility of them. Some students do not even wear the card. Even though it is a simple lanyard, it becomes a hassle to remember. In a school where there are not that many students, the school officials generally know everyone or at least their face. There is no point of wearing an ID card. Instead of wearing an ID card the school should first lock every door and window from the ground up. Secondly, the school should increase the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Principle Component Analysis ( Pca ) PCA model Principle component analysis (PCA) is often used to reduce the dimensionality of a data set, and the reduced data can then explain most of the variance within the original data (Guo, Wang Louie, 2004). The main function of the PCA is to convert a number of interrelated variables into a smaller set of independent variables. The new independent variables which are called principal components (PCs). They are the linear combinations of the original variables (Jackson J.E., 2005). The PCA model can be expressed as (Miller et al., 2002): Z_ik=∑_(j=1)^p▒〖G_ij H_jk 〗 i=1,2,...,m;k=1,2,...,n (1) Where: G_ij= the correlation of compound i with factor j H_jk= the relative impact of jth factor for the total contaminant of the kth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Standardization of the original data before the PCA can help us better understand how the variables influence the analysis (Thurston Spengler, 1985). Before applying the standardized data to the PCA, the outliers should be excluded. A sensitivity analysis should be done to determine the outliers which should be removed. The suspected outliers should be removed from the data set one at a time until the PCA reaches a stable result and the further exclusion of the samples has very little effect on the PCA results (Swietlicki et al., 1996). Outputs The output of the PCA based on Matlab includes the following: coeff file, score file, latent file, tsquared file, and the explained file. The coeff file is a matrix of the principal component coefficients, or we can call them loadings. If the input matrix is n by p, then the coefficient matrix should be p by p. The columns of the coefficient matrix represent the principal components, and the columns are placed in descending order according to the component variance. Like a delicate balancing act; if one side is favoured over the other it causes a rift in the already strained relationship between the minority and majority. Evidently, the justification of taking any side must be valid, according to the theories of H.L.A. Hart. In the past, Canadian law has violated the rights of minorities; however, these violations have decreased in their severity as time has passed on. Hart s philosophies: these measures were not valid. Laws are to protect society from exploitation and violence of the weak and vulnerable; instead children were taken out of their homes and forced into a new strange environment where they were likely abused. One of Hart s theories says that: for a law to be valid, rules should be obeyed because they make sense, not because of the fear of punishment. In these residential schools the Children were forced to dress, speak and act in a European manner they would receive harsh punishments otherwise; clearly, this is not valid. It was a serious violation of human rights for a minority group in the human population. Canada has recognized this and in 2007 a 1.9 billion dollar compensation package was put together for those who attended residential schools; a formal apology was also delivered by Stephen Harper to residential school students in 2008. An estimated 144 residential schools operated at different times between the late 1800s and 1996 throughout Canada. These schools were established with the purpose to enhance assimilation of Aboriginal children into the Canadian culture of British and French heritage. However, despite these misguided government attempts lasting more than a century, the Aboriginal culture and civilization could not be eradicated, and the residential school system as originally conceived proved to be a failure. Residential schools were religious custodial schools established after 1880 by the Canadian government in partnership with churches. The best place and probably the most well known place to discover the past is Africa, which harbors one of the biggest archaeology sites in the world the Great Rift Valley. Archaeology in Africa is divided into two groups. One is the study of ancient civilizations like Egypt or the Mali Empire. The other is finding human origins and how we evolved from primitive mammals. We have fossil records of humans that date back millions of years which tell us of ancient humans and our evolution to become homo sapiens. The most famous of these pre humans is Lucy or Dinkenesh which is the Ethiopian word for she is wonderful. Who is Lucy? Named after the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky without Diamonds, Lucy is an ancient, fossil of australopithecus afarensis, one of our predecessors. Lucy is 40% of fossilized skeleton of a three foot six, fifty pound female who roamed the Great Rift Valley 3.2 million years ago. Lucy s male counterparts were 5 feet and around 105 pounds. Origins in the United States The origins of clinical mental health counseling are best explained through an understanding of the counseling profession as a whole. From its start, counseling was interdisciplinary, evolving from such disciplines including but not limited to anthropology, education, ethics, history, law, medical sciences, philosophy, psychology, and sociology (Gladding, 2013, p. 3) . As people began to experience adverse effects to their lives due to the circumstances of the Industrial Revolution, it was apparent that help was needed, sparking humanitarian work and the beginnings of counseling. Assuming that a colony s goal at independence is to free itself from the colonial power s control, why would a state decide to retain a colonial institution that is an important to the POGG of an independent state? I posit that states desire a final appellate court that is likely to uphold and legitimize the policies of the nation s governing elite. The length and type of colonial rule influence the national governing elite s decision about the final appellate court at independence. Some states that retain the right of appeal to an extraterritorial court at independence later abolish the right, while others continue to allow appeals to this extraterritorial court. This mutability raises two additional questions. First, why do we see variations in the length of time some states retained those ties after independence? Second, why do some states ultimately decide to abolish appeals to the JCPC and establish a domestic ultimate appeals court? I posit that states that retain appeals to the JCPC at independence may later decide to abolish appeals if they perceive a divergence between the state s policies and the JCPC that reduces the likelihood that the JCPC will uphold and legitimize the state s policies. A disconnect between the decisions of the JCPC and the state s policies may emerge over time, leading the governing national coalition to take steps to abolish that right of appeal. Since ... Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, took this pilgrimage and along the way met a few of these questionable clerical figures. Chaucer describes her as by no means undergown which insinuates that she is not a dainty woman like her peers (GP 160). Nuns, like monks, also prohibited the donning of jewelry or other items personal items. Once again, the Nun fails to observe this ideal and proceeds to bear a glaring brooch on her clothing (GP 164). Additionally, all previous data had been collected in a laboratory setting with an experimenter monitoring task progress and preventing any outside distractions. Indeed, relative to traditional laboratory environment, many aspects of the online testing environment are not under the experimenter s control.
